Valiant Hearts finally has a physical release! Both Child of Light and Valiant hearts were made using the UbiArt Framework used to develop Rayman Origins. Since the engine is used for cartoon-y 2D graphics and so is not suitable for Ubisoft's usual open-world sandbox games, they let some auteurs have a go with some novel ideas. Child of Light is a RPG that basically feels like you're playing through a children's bedtime story (with a soundtrack by the amazing @beatricepirate!). Valiant Hearts is a puzzle-adventure game based on letters written by a German soldier in the first World War. I played through Child of Light on the Vita and loved it. I have not tried out Valiant Hearts yet, but I've heard great things. 🕹 Super Mario All-Stars (1993) Developer - @Nintendo Publisher - @Nintendo Genre - Platformer Platform - Super Nintendo ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Astounding • "M" is for Mario, who else? 👨🏻🍄 #rcea2z • Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario Collection in Japan) is a compilation cartridge released on the Super Nintendo. The game compiles together all of the NES Mario games onto one 16 bit cartridge (Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario Lost Levels). The lineup is different in Japan due to the discrepancy between Mario Bros 2 across regions. This cartridge was my first introduction to the series in the 90s and still stands out as the definitive way to play these games with updated graphics, sound and the ability to save progress. Another cartridge was also released which also included Super Nintendo exclusive Super Mario World crammed into the same cartridge. The compilation was also brought into the 21st century with the 2010 released on Nintendo Wii. If you own a Super Nintendo then there isn't a chance you don't own this title. X-Men Legends is basically a Diablo clone with X-Men. It spawned one sequel and two spiritual sequels in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series. 🕹 Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (2010) Developer - Traveller's Tales Publisher - Warner Bros Interactive Genre - Action/adventure Platform - Nintendo Wii ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Admirable • "L" is for Lego! This is a great addition to the Lego games #rcea2z • Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 has the difficult task of guiding the player through the first four Harry Potter books. Similar to the other Lego games the game is at its best when played as a couch co-op game. Many aspects of the gameplay is enhanced by players working teaming up to solve a puzzle. Tackling four separate story threads is not easily achieved. The game's pacing is near perfect and depending on how much a completionist you are it can take from 2-6 hours per book. The game is hilarious in parts and doesn't take itself too seriously - the characters from the franchise are effectively brought to life in Lego form. Playing the game solo however takes away greatly from the experience, so much so that it begins to lose its appeal and charm. Today's post is both a #rcea2z and a pickups post. W stands for Warsong (and maybe World re:the 'New World' AC game in the background? I'm stretching it, I know). Got my exam results back recently, so thought I'd reward myself. Looked up Warsong that afternoon on eBay, and found a complete copy listed with an auction ending that day for £45 with £3 shipping and no bids. Been after one for a while, and was tempted to buy one without the manual for £60 a while back - glad I decided not to! It's a strategy RPG that plays a lot like the Fire Emblem games. Its only English release was in the USA, and is an uncommon game there, so finding one across the pond is not a common occurrence. As for the Assassin's Creed compilation in the background, it's another one I've had my eye on for a while as it's the only way to get Assassin's Creed Liberation HD on disc. When it was ported to home consoles, it was a download-only game. The Xbox 360 version of this compilation came with a download code for it, but the PS3 version gave it a physical release. I hadn't gotten it sooner because I had played Liberation on the Vita when it first came out. This copy was dirt cheap, but the manual is badly creased and it smells of cigarettes, so I can see why.
