âTHE WRITER hi there, my name is monster (or affectionately, momster), they/them and 21+ yo. i've been writing since forever, so i've been around and had dabbled in yandere genres before. please don't take my grammar too seriously, english isn't my first language, so do not be scared to critique me on where i can improve!
iâm of opinion that its healthier to write than to allow sickness to fester in your mind.

âMY CONTENTS i write about actual monsters. nagas, driders, centaurs, androids, shadow monsters, you name it, i'll turn them into yanderes, lovesick about their darlings, and write about them! that simple. just send in a request/prompt and i'll write my imagination out. i am within my rights to reject and tweak the prompts.
although i could keep my monsters sweet to their darlings, in some occasions, if the story call for it, i will depict their natures to what they really areâmonsters. vampires are bloody and will eat humans, nagas will eat a person whole, etc. thatâs why i said horror elements in the disclaimer in my pinned/navigation post. occasionally, i may write pieces that some may not consider as yandere, because sometimes, i just wanna write nasty smuts between the poor reader and monster(s). or, just maybe i just wanna write fluff.
while this blog primarily focuses on original yandere monsters/exophilia, i do dabble in several fandoms. i am familiar with: Netflix's Castlevania, Devilman Crybaby, Hellsing, and several others i cannot recall from the top of my head. just ask if i know something and ill confirm or not.
i will always tag all triggers to the best of my ability!

if you wish to create an asmr video based on my works or for any other purposes, you must ask for explicit permission. so please, be a good sport and ask first.
âDO NOT REPOST MY WORKS ANYWHERE. unless youâre one of my commissioners, please reconsider.

links, faq, dni, and other informations are under readmore due to the length of this post.

âCAN I WRITE/DRAW YOUR CHARACTERS? YES, i enjoy seeing your interpretations :) tagging and crediting me would be super appreciated!!
âCAN I WRITE/DRAW YOUR AUS? YES, have at it! just be sure to tag and credit me~
THAT SAID, if you wish to go anywhere with one of my AUs, such as creating an OC for it or considering making an original series, please donât make a profit off of it UNLESS you deviate (preferably, greatly) from my AU and create your own worldbuilding. I want YOU to put your own unique spin on it and not feel suffocated by my own rules and personal lore.
no such thing as original ideas, which is why iâm pretty open about sharing ideas and inspiring others. all i ask is to be credited and linked back, so i can support you in turn!!
âDO YOU ACCEPT COMMISSIONS? yes! for writing, check the link in navigation section up top! for art, here! contact me off anon and weâll talk.
âWHY DONâT YOU USE Y/N? +OTHER READER INSERT ABBREVIATIONS personally, i found them extremely disruptive in my reading flow and i donât find them necessary since there are ways to get around using those abbreviations (protip, adjectives arenât necessary when describing someoneâs appearances). so, i simply donât use them. nothingâs personal! just not my preference.Â
i typically use emdash in the place of those abbreviations.
âQUESTIONS AND TALKS def feel free to send any question and suggestions my way! theyâll be tagged as; ghosts are curious and anon interchangeably with monster whispers for my answers and announcements.
âDO YOU HAVE OTHER ACCOUNTS? yes, @monstrously-obsessed is my archive blog (dont be scared, its me!) and its also (unfortunately) my main account, so iâll send asks under that name and follow back mutuals. its main purpose is to archive most of my answered asks and reblogs, since i wanted to keep @monstrouslyobsessed writing centered. if youâre looking for an answered ask, chances are, its probably in @monstrously-obsessed, just add a dash! i (try to) archive unnecessary posts every few weeks or so. @monstrouslyreblogsâ is another one of mine that i use to, well, reblog things, such as art tutorials, writing tips, gorgeous arts, recommendations, etc.
âWHAT IS SCENARIO? its the âfull lengthâ take on the request given by an asker, essentially a fic reply.
âWHAT IS HEADCANON? itâs a bullet point list of headcanons relating to the prompt, you can view some more recent examples here. iâll only take one character at a time + a prompt.
meme asks/hcs (like this example here and questions such as âwhich of your ocs...?â) are excepted from this rule and may sport different format and setups with unique tags.
âWHAT IS CONCEPT? you give me a concept and i'll write a (semi)short opening to it. itâs essentially a what-if summary (read: brain fart) enough to interest readers. concepts are (often) not meant to be continued and will serve as a source of inspiration for others. there will be no explicit sexual scenes outside any potential implication(s) and may contain graphic details in regard of gores, death, etc.
please be sure to link back / ping me if you do take inspiration from my concepts! iâd be super flattered đ
note: this is NOT for my AUs, but more for...open-sourced ideas, such as taking my own spin on fairy tales, creating new lore behind a lesser-known monster, etc. where copyright wouldnât get anyone, me included, into trouble. for my AUs, headcanon and scenarios are your best bet to ask.
âWHAT IS THIRST CHAT? this is for you to share your fantasies with me and my way to invite open interactions with you, dear readers. it doesnât need to be nsâfw topics either, it can be just be you asking about my opinions, my days, you venting about issues, etc. itâs another branding for GENERAL CHAT, but nsâfw topics is allowed. please do follow my not rules (here), as i am uncomfortable with few listed kinks, but i am otherwise free-for-all.Â
except politics. please donât engage in political matters with me, thanks.
do not send soliciting, negative, or strange asks, they'll be deleted on the spot. aint nobody have time for that.
âWHERE IS YOUR PFP FROM? from here. itâs always meant to be temporary though as i did not have any direct permission to use it;; but i never found any pfp that is genuinely fitting for my blog :( and my art skill is subpar to create gorgeous pfp art of skull doggo. sighs.
iâll have to either make one on my own or commission someone for a fitting pfp!
âWHAT ARE THINGS YOUâRE NOT OKAY WITH? most of them are in my rules but iâll list a few here. iâm not okay with ageplay, vore, watersport, and scat. due to personal experiences and mental health, i am not comfortable writing or reading a character committing suic*de in explicit details. i am not comfortable writing mpreg, because of the unfortunate correlations of trans people being fetishizied for it in the past. iâm also not okay with bodyshaming either.

âMY CHARACTERS >they are (mostly) right here< EVERY MAIN CHARACTER I WRITE FOR IS DEPICTED AS ABOVE 18+.
âWHERE ELSE CAN I FIND YOUR WORKS? >you can find them right here< theyâre not as updated though...lol
âHOW ELSE CAN I SUPPORT YOU? reblog my work! send me feedback! JUST BE YOUR BEST SUPPORTIVE SELF! >you can also buy me a kofi too!<

i canât stop you from reading my works or following me (thereâs too many of you and i get mental fatigue from the idea of combing through literally thousands of you) but i WILL check out your blog if you reblogged and / or send me an ask if not on anon. please be smart about it and be respectful of my wishes or i will block you on the spot.

đ» 2020 Commissions Update đ»
Hello, all! After a tough decision to clear out my remaining commission queue a month or so ago, I have regrouped and revamped my rules into something that I hope will be much better on my mental health! As it stands, I will only be taking 3 commissions total at any time - if the three slots are taken, they will not open again until the whole batch is finished. That way, I wonât get overwhelmed like I did last time. If youâre interested, please read more below!
Rules & Guidelines
I will be doing both SFW and NSFW commissions! Kink-friendly and self-insert friendly.
I write for JoJoâs Bizarre Adventure (parts 1-8), Fire Emblem: Fates, Awakening, and Three Houses, Mystic Messenger, Hunter x Hunter, Boyfriend to Death, Boku no Hero Academia*, and The Arcana. Additional fandoms may be enquired about but are up to my discretion. Â
I will do alternate universe commissions if you provide me with details on the AU youâre interested in. (Including but not limited to: monster, modern, college, A/B/O, android, soulmates, etc.)
I can do specific self-inserts or generic reader-inserts. I will also write Character x Character! Poly self-insert ships or character poly ships are welcome.
I will not do: scat, incest, bestiality, or underage NSFW.
I reserve the right to refuse a commission for any reason.
Pricing & Time
Commissions start at one cent per word. A 500-word piece would cost $5, etc.
Payment can be made through PayPal or ko-fi.
Due to the limited volume of commissions I will be taking, I will require payment upfront.*
Your commission will be emailed to you in a Word Doc and in PDF form once complete with payment secured.
I anticipate commissions taking between 2-4 weeks to complete at the most.
*If I feel I cannot complete your commission for whatever reason (health issues, emergencies, etc.), I will contact you and refund your payment.
Additional Important Information (Please Read)
In order to assure a quality product for you, I am going to more selective with commissions this time around. I will only be taking on a very limited amount of commissions at a time. Please do not feel upset if I refuse your commission - I want to ensure that you get your moneyâs worth, so I will not accept commissions I feel I cannot deliver on.
Characters I will NOT write for (JJBA): Minor Villains from parts 1-8 (ex: J. Geil, Enyaba, Angelo, Sale, etc.), Von Stroheim, Noriaki Kakyoin, SDC!Dio Brando, Koichi Hirose, Child/Very Young Characters (Hayato, Emporio, Lucy Steel, etc.), and Ungalo.
BnHA*: Similar to my regular rules, I will not write for any students, aged-up or not.
Please check my âOther Fandomsâ page to see which characters I write for. Enquires for characters not listed may be made if the character is an adult.
How To Contact Me and Additional Details
Please contact me here at @abbacchiosbeltâ or through my email at [email protected] if you wish to remain anonymous.
Upon your request, I can keep your commission private. Otherwise, I will ask permission before posting it to this blog and my AO3 account.
Examples of my work can be found on this blog or on my AO3 account.
If you donât want a commission but want to support my work, I have a ko-fi! Tips are very appreciated but not necessary. â

I finished this chapter because someone reblogged Starfire and left me wonderful comments so I just had to finish this!
Previous Chapter ; Next Chapter
-
âApproaching Mikanis space now Captain,â Taehyung said clearly, his gaze focused on the holoscreen in front of him as it fed him statistics from the Starfire. Or Fury as she was known now. âContacting Mikanis traffic control now.â
Everyone on the bridge was stiff with nerves, glancing between each other awkwardly. This would be the true test to discover if Jungkook truly had done the ship ID change correctly. The name from the hull had already been removed when youâd taken a brief stop out of hyperspace before carrying on, removing the legacy and providing a cover for you all.
It now proclaimed her to be Fury in bright and bold letters, though the name wouldnât stand up to an intense physical inspection of the ship herself. There were too many things on board that were labelled with her original name and none of you had had the time to scour through and change everything so carefully. Nor could you, realistically.Â
There was a reason that changing ship IDs was illegal and could only be done by officials. It was too time consuming and costly. But it wasnât a choice for you all, it was simply a way to try and survive. All you could hope was that the ID would check out on their end and they wouldnât have any reason to look further.
A quick turn of your head lets you take in Namjoonâs face as he sits silent, body leaning to the side as his fingers rest against his mouth. He looked the picture of calm and patience, but you can tell heâs more nervous than he's letting on. For everyone elseâs sake you bet.
âMikanis TC, this is Fury. Request permission for lane position and docking at Craila City.â Taehyung says, his voice steady. His fingers dart over the keyboard as he inputs the ID code that Jungkook had given him, denoting Furyâs identity and information for Mikanis traffic control to look over.
Thereâs the tiniest pause that heightens the tension on the bridge even more before a deep drawl dances over the bridge. âMikanis TC to Fury, permission is granted. Lane eighteen, position nine. Please navigate to docking station twelve at Craila City. Welcome to Mikanis.â
The exhale of everyone onboard is audible, with Jin even running his hands down his face as he stands with Jisoo towards the door. Namjoonâs closed his eyes in relief while Taehyung has a smile of his own as your heart beats frantically. You input the directions for Taehyung once you receive them before turning around to gesture at Jungkook.
âLooks like it worked Jungkook.â The android looks at you with widened eyes and you smile gently in response, watching as he visibly calms down in front of you. A slight nod is all he gives though, trying to blend into the wall behind him to avoid interaction with others. He was still so nervous and shy, and you werenât sure how to break that habit.
âWhere is Craila City?â You ask, frowning over at Namjoon as he leans back in his seat. He looks at you with a carefully blank face before sighing quietly, running his fingers through his hair and messing it up thoroughly. Despite telling him to sleep, heâd evidently chosen to ignore your request because he still has some impressive dark circles going on under his eyes.
âAkati. Itâs one of the newer megacities, only a century old. Itâs in the north but situated more towards the coastline so the weatherâs not quite as extreme as the desert. Downside though is that itâs really windy. Other than that, itâs your typical Mikanian shit hole.â His words are barbed and your brows rise in amusement.
Youâd only looked into a few of their cities when researching them, and youâd never visited Mikanis before so it was going to be an experience for you. âWhat? Donât like cities?â You tease lightly, knowing that Namjoon had come from a much more sparsely populated planet.
âThatâs got nothing to do with it. I just donât like cities where a half a billion people live in it and you have to live with the knowledge that if the shield falls then youâll all probably die. Plus, itâs full of the kind of people you donât want to meet.â He responds dryly.
Jimin snorts suddenly, causing you both to look over to him. âYou mean like us? We may not murder people but we still do illegal shit. Especially now. In fact...weâre probably doing the most illegal thing in the entire universe right now thanks to him,â He points to Jungkook. âAnyway, I like Mikanis. Itâs a place that doesnât pretend to be something itâs not. You can get whatever the fuck you want there.â
You frown slightly. âWe need to be careful though. Mikanis has the highest death rate in the known galaxy for a reason.â Jimin just rolls his eyes in response as if youâd just told him a really stupid joke or something.
âYeah, âcos they donât take kindly to fools. Youâre either honest in Mikanis or dead. And by honest, I mean lying your fucking ass off. Donât trust anyone down there. Theyâd sell their own mother if it got them something.â His tone is dry and you laugh quietly.
âSounds great. Anyway, whereâs Chungha?â The question is directed back at Namjoon and he looks back up with raised brows, his full lower lip being chewed by white teeth. A visible sign of nerves now.
âSheâs a weaponâs engineer at Artica Industries; itâs in Craila, on the surface.â Jimin whistles lowly before you can even say anything, causing everyone to look at him once more. He looks suitably impressed though, and you wonder why.
âCare to explain why you look like youâve just had ten women strip naked right here for you?â You ask, causing him to grin lasciviously as he wiggles his eyebrows at you before straightening his face back out.
âYeah, the captainâs lovergirl must be hot shit. Artica is one of the biggest weapons manufacturers in the galaxy and theyâre at the cutting edge when it comes to laser and plasma. They mostly work in ship weapons so they get to play with some fun toys that cause big booms. Theyâre also ridiculously fucking rich, hence why theyâre on the surface of Mikanis. Only the 1% gets to live there,â He pauses before looking at Namjoon with a raised brow. âThey also have contracts with both TAS and UIS.â
His words land heavy in the bridge, causing you to look at Namjoon as your blood runs icy in your veins. Without even thinking, youâre shaking your head in denial. âNo, no Namjoon. Do not tell me that youâve taken us to the one fucking place in the galaxy that can not only turn us in to both fucking TAS and UIS but can also probably blow us the fuck away if we try to run?!â
âChungha wouldnât do that! I told you, she owes me.â He protests loudly, holding his hands out pleadingly while you glare at him.
âYouâre putting a lot of faith on someone just because she owes you for something years ago. Someone who you think still has feelings for you. What if she doesnât? We may as well have just stayed and let ourselves get killed! Did Hoseok really almost kill himself for no reason?!â You hiss at him, words quiet and filled with anger while everyone stays in awkward silence.
âIâm putting myself on the line here. Please, trust me. I know you all have no reason to after everything thatâs happened but...I trust her. I do. I know it didnât end good last time but...please. Sheâs the one person I can think of that can help. Like I said...sheâs well connected.â Namjoon stands and looks at everyone, his face serious while his eyes gleam with desperate persuasion.
âShe better be,â Yoongi growls, glaring at his captain. âBecause if youâve just taken us from a bad situation to a worse situation, Iâll be really pissed off.âÂ
Lisa nods next to him, her eyes narrowed fiercely and you sigh loudly, gesturing for everyone to calm down. âOkay guys...come on. Weâll just...weâll take it slow okay? Namjoon and I will go to Chungha alone, scope her out and see if sheâs willing to go along with us. Taehyung and Rose, you two stay on board and keep her ready to go if we need to run. Jin, Jisoo, I want you two to go out and see if you can find us whatever we need to upgrade Starfire. I want her faster, harder and able to hit harder too if possible. Take the money from the communal funds, youâll all get your money back I swear but I think this is more important right now. Yoongi and Lisa, you two go out and get provisions for us all. That includes weapons. Jimin, youâre backing us up. All good with everyone?â
A glance around the room has everyone nodding slowly and you let out a deep breath of relief. It was always good when the crew didnât argue over something, but there was nothing for them to argue over this time. They either did what they were told, or you all died.
Jungkook suddenly spoke up and your eyes widened as you looked at him with guilt rushing through you as you realised that youâd somehow managed to forget him. âI have run through the list of businesses operating on Craila...there is a Magi owned store there. I...I have been doing some research on Magi...I have a list of items that I think I could use to help Hoseok heal faster. If...if someone would be willing to go get them for me? I donât think I should leave the ship.â
Everyone stays quiet for a moment before looking at you gingerly, wondering how youâll take that. But you just smile softly, your heart racing hard as you imagined seeing Hoseok awake once more when you get back to the ship and you knew that youâd do anything for him.
âSure. Give it to Yoongi and Lisa. If youâd be okay with doing a detour?â You ask them both, expecting them to complain about being asked to do something by an android. Lisa was still angry with him but Yoongi had slowly been mellowing out. He wasnât really the kind to hold a grudge, and you knew that if accepted Jungkook then Lisa would eventually too.
But to your surprise, they both nod immediately with completely serious looks on their faces. âOf course. Weâd do anything to help Hoseok if we can.â Yoongi says and you bite your lip to try and stop the rush of emotions from showing on your face.
It doesnât work evidently, given the way Lisaâs eyes soften and she gives you her own sweet smile as she nods. âHeâs gonna be okay, we all know it.â
Everyone nods and you lower your head momentarily, clenching your fists before taking a long and slow breath. Nodding to yourself, you look back up at everyone and smile brightly before slapping your thighs firmly.
âRight. Then everyone get ready for what you have to do. Taehyung and I will get Starfi-I mean...Fury, docked and I want everyone to be ready to leave within five minutes of docking. Is that okay Namjoon?â You ask, looking at your captain for confirmation that he was okay with your commanding of everyone.
He smiles though, appreciation in his gaze at you bringing the crew round so quickly and nods himself. âYeah. You heard her, get moving.â
-
The crew scatters once youâve docked, hurrying off to do their own chores while also hoping to get in a bit of free time if possible. Neither you nor Namjoon would begrudge them any if they could find it, as long as they didnât get themselves in trouble that they couldnât get out of.
It was the last thing you all needed right now for someone to get locked up for something stupid.
The climate of Craila City was oddly hot and humid, leading to you stripping off the faux leather jacket youâd donned and wrapping it tightly around your waist. It helped to cover your weapon but also let your arms get some much needed air. Namjoon was evidently choosing to suffer, keeping his own coat on while black sunglasses covered his eyes.
âYou look like youâre going to walk the runway at Pariska.â You chide at him, rolling your eyes when he simply gives you the finger in return. Jimin snorts a laugh from your side, his persona today being that of a surprisingly bland looking man. His skin tone and facial features donât help to denote any nationality, and at a glance he could even be mistaken for a few various alien races under the right lighting.Â
You scan him over once more, taking in the loose fitting trousers and dull beige shirt wondering once more how he manages to shift his clothes too. Jimin never gave away any secrets and you werenât sure if it was because he couldnât, he didnât want to or just that he knew the curiosity burned at you.
Knowing Jimin, it was probably the latter.
Still, you gestured at him lazily with a raised brow. âIs this...purposefully the most boring person you could have ever possibly created? Donât you ever want to be someone...better looking?â
âWhy? Iâm already attractive. Besides, that goes against the objective of blending in if I choose a visage that is more beautiful than the people around me. No, this is a face that a thousand people could look at and forget.â He pauses before eyeing you slowly, his own brow raising. âWe study what most races consider average and learn to produce a shape that is so boring and unappealing that no one ever pays attention. Iâm just a middle aged human man, a little down on his luck but doing okay for myself. Just like every other person here.â
At that, he makes a vague hand gesture towards the crowd of people surrounding you all. You glance around and note that heâs right. Everyone around you is dressed similarly to Jimin, in a style that isnât particularly noticeable but also not horribly shabby.
Though you question if the only reason people are dressed like that is because the entrance to one of Crailaâs large docking stations is here and these people evidently either work on the docks, are travelling themselves or have a ship docked here.
Quietly, you take in the whole environment carefully, partially to make sure that there doesnât seem to be anyone whoâs spotted you and also simply because you like going to new places and seeing them. There was always something new and interesting to catch your eye.
Youâd never been to Mikanis, and youâve never been to a city quite as big as Craila. Or at the very least, the large cities you go to are sprawling across the land, not digging down deep into the crust of the planet.Â
The entrance to the dock lies behind as you walk out to the heaving street in front of you. Itâs crammed with land vehicles that stink of metal while a glance up lets you see the overcrowded sky lanes that stream above you in a steady flow of air cars and cruisers.Â
Glass and metal building reach up high into the sky all around, like they were in a contest to see who could reach the cloudless blue far above and casting the whole world into shadow. High above, the world looked to be shiny and clean but far down here the grime and dirt was beginning to show.Â
It was mind boggling to think that half a billion people lived in this one city alone. There werenât even half a billion people on Hekasus, never mind to fill one city! So many people filled the streets here, bumping into each other with no care about personal space and you shuddered slightly, disliking the intense smell of body odour from all the alien races around you, not just the humans.
A city this big and this populated could never smell good, and you hated to think what the larger and more established cities smelled like.Â
It was almost claustrophobic, and you let your head fall back onto your shoulders as you gazed straight up to where the startlingly tall towers seemed to bend toward each other at their apex. They were tiny up there, barely wider than your finger but you knew the reality of them. Each building probably housed a ridiculous number of people or businesses.
âItâs so...crammed.â You say softly, frowning as you look back down. Every building looks to have a store built into the bottom floor, neon holographic signs projecting out and cluttering up the free air space as they proclaim a sale, a massage parlour, a shooting gallery, a bar, high end prostitutes, a department store, the latest video game and more.
Itâs overwhelming on your senses and the longer you stand there, the more you start to pick out individual scents. The smell of rasa bubbling from the street vendor on the other side of the road, his mechanical arm stirring the pot of red spiced meat and sauce while a vendor on your side of the road hawks his roasted payka, the tasty vegetables bursting with delicious flavour that makes your mouth water.
âYeah, like I said. Itâs a shit hole,â Namjoon grunts before pointing up. âAnd this is where the rich folk live, if you can believe it.âÂ
You glance upwards once more, taking in the subtle purple shimmer high in the sky as the shield that protects the city from the deadly planetâs atmosphere shudders into visibility momentarily. This was the rich part of the city because they could see the sky; you had no doubt about that.
Already from here, you could see the road dipping down into a well lit tunnel to your left, the directions on the hologram filtering themselves into your language as you see it proclaim it to be the way to the Upper District.
âWhatâs the Upper District? Isnât this the upper?â Namjoon shakes his head before pointing to the building in front of you all.Â
âNope, this is Land District. Upper District is the first level below ground. Then thereâs Garden District, Midtown District, Sub-District and Lower District. Thereâs a final one under that, I believe itâs the sewage system and service entries or something. Between each level is a subway system that also runs through all the floors. The lower you go...the poorer you are.â
You snort at that wryly, giving him a dry glance as you both obviously have the same thought. After years as his second-in-command, youâve gained the innate ability to do that, and right now youâre both thinking that that itâs a sad metaphor for the life of those in poverty. On other planets, saying youâre at the bottom of the pile just means that youâre living a life full of hardship and strife.
On Mikanis, it literally means that youâre at the bottom of the city. Sighing as you glance back over the tunnel, you ponder for a moment what life must be like them for them. Given how far down they are beneath the planetâs surface, you presume that they likely donât get to see much natural light. A part of you wonders what it looks like down there, but then you push that thought away.
Looking back up to the sky, the soft shimmer of the shield keeping the whole city safe from the raging planet beyond, you decide that you couldnât ever live down there. For someone who grew up Hekasus, with forests and fields and mountains filled with cool and crisp air and then transferred to a spaceship where the universe was literally your oyster, the very idea of being cooped up far beneath the surface to never see light or stars again was horrifying.
You hoped their life wasnât too hard, but the rational part of your brain knew better. There was nothing you could do for them though and so you inhaled deeply, straightening your shoulders before looking back at Namjoon. Heâd been watching you carefully, his expression blank as he let you take in what heâd told you and you give him a small smile.
âLetâs go meet Chungha, yeah? And hope she doesnât blow your head off. That might not go down well with the rest of the crew and heka, I am not ready to be the leader of our ship. Iâd kill Jimin within two days.â You groan lightly, pushing at Namjoonâs arm and leading him to a waiting transport vehicle. The black car is hovering slightly above the ground, vivid neon blue and pink adverts plastered along the side and changing with alarming frequency in an obnoxious assault on the senses.
Above it, the green sign of a vacant transport vehicle letâs you know itâs free to use and you climb into it carefully. You hadnât even noticed Jimin slip away into the crowd, moving ahead of you both to scout out the building carefully. Heâd moved with that liquid grace that let him disappear before anyone had even realised heâd gone, and you had no doubt that Jimin would have probably checked out the whole building by the time you got there.
No one knew how he did it, nor would he ever tell. All you knew was that it was incredibly useful.
The interior of the transport car is surprisingly big, with more than enough room for you both to sit without having to brush up against each other. Namjoon was very tall and broad, leading to many times when youâd been pressed up against him because the man just took up too much damn room.
A holo screen drops down from the centre of the roof, lighting up the interior with a soft blue glow and Namjoon inputs your destination. Thereâs a tiny pause as the screen processes his request, no doubt working out a journey before it states a price in a currency youâve never seen. Namjoon doesnât say anything though as he simply presses his wrist to the payment sensor on the arm of his chair, a green acceptance flashing before the engine of the car starts.
Looking out the window, you watch as the car lifts up from the ground before moving to join one of the sky lanes, its speed increasing as it zooms through the city. You get a wonderful view from here of the towering skyscrapers and landscape that is just visible between certain buildings.
Even in the daytime, with the sun shining brightly down on everything, the city is alive with light and colour. A part of you canât wait to see what it looks like at night, knowing the image will be even more impressive than it is now, but at the same time you lament the loss of nature in this sprawling city.
You havenât seen a single plant, and the very idea of not being to enjoy nature is abhorrent to you. Itâs positively mind boggling that there are people who will be born, live and die on this planet who will likely never see a living plant.
Turning to Namjoon, you watch as his gaze remains firmly on the shifting cityscape beyond the windows. His skin is ever so slightly paler than normal and you know thatâs because he simply hasnât been sleeping that well. He blames himself for what happened, and part of you agrees with that honestly.
But Starfire was a team, a family, and all decisions were unanimous. Therefore, it wasnât his fault entirely that things had gone so wrong.
Still though, you need to make sure that everything is hopefully going to go okay from now. Because thereâs no one around at the moment and Namjoon doesnât have to put on a brave face with only you there.
Placing a hand on his arm, he turns to look at you slowly. His eyes are lowered, the corners of his mouth tilted down while the tiniest lines crease his brow. You know that heâs far more worried and stressed than heâs let on and it makes your chest ache for him in sympathy. He didnât deserve any of this worry, not when heâd simply been trying to sustain his crew and ship.
âJoon...what do we do if Chungha canât help?â The question is quiet, even in the relative silence of the transport car and Namjoonâs brow stiffens as his lips pursed. You donât even need to hear him to know that heâs annoyed, though heâs probably only annoyed because heâs scared.
âSheâll help. I swear she will. I believe in her.â He states clearly, causing you to sigh deeply. Turning forwards, you watch the holo screen as it plays a random ad for some bar in the city while not actually taking it in.
âI didnât say wonât, I said canât. Even if she says yes, what if she canât help us? I mean...what are we even supposed to do? How do we resolve this whole issue? Both sides want to kill us. Weâre backed into a corner that we canât get out of as far as I can see. We need to think Joon, she might not be able to help us.â Your words are soft and filled with emotion, recognising the downfall that may be approaching you all quickly.
Namjoon doesnât respond for a few moments, instead remaining quiet as his fingers tugged absently at an errant thread on his trousers. You know itâs hard for him to acknowledge, but you have no doubt that heâs been thinking about it too. This might truly be the end of the line for everyone on the Starfire.
âI donât know. I donât...I donât know.â Youâve never heard him sound so defeated, the way his shoulders slump down and his whole body just loses any tension. His face looks desolate and your heart clenched tightly, causing you to lay an arm around his shoulders and squeeze them tightly in reassurance.
âWeâll...find a way. Weâll find a way like we always do. Even...even if we spend the rest of our lives running or something. Weâll find a way.â He doesnât respond and you squeeze again, laying your cheek on his shoulder and sighing quietly. âWeâll do it Joon, I swear.â
âI hope so.â Is all he says, his voice filled with some much dejection and fear that you find yourself worrying even more for him. He doesnât need to be stressing out like this, not when heâs meant to be the one leading you but thatâs why he has you, you reason to yourself.Â
Your job as second-in-command meant keeping everyone else in line while also making sure that your captainâs health and wellbeing is also being taken care of. Itâs a frustrating position to be in, but one that you would never relinquish because you know how heavily Namjoon relies on you.
How heavily heâs relying on you right now and you canât let him down, not with something this important.

Jungkook moves about the tiny room heâs been given as his own in silence, barely making a noise as he pads from one side to the other and moves items around. On the tiny desk by his bed he has a bowl made of ancient ceramic, decorated with tiny magi symbols all along both the outer and inner walls.
This was just one of the items heâd asked the crew to get for him, the other stuff was laid around the room haphazardly as he worked efficiently. He found it odd to suddenly have a purpose to his time, a purpose that was truly meaningful and could potentially change a life.
The magical coma Hoseok had fallen into after the battle had been because of him, the magi had almost given his own life to save the Starfire because Jungkook existed. He wasnât sure if he was supposed to feel guilt, but he did. Intensely.
Guilt for being created, guilt for the Starfire finding him, guilt for them almost dying, guilt for them having to flee and being chased by the prospect of death simply because he existed. It was worse with Hoseok though, as heâd had to watch as you almost fell apart at how close Hoseok had come to death. Jungkook hadnât known about you two, hadnât known about the deep and strong bonds that bound you together even if you hadnât acknowledged it out loud.
He felt guilty for that too, as you had been the nicest person to him on the ship besides from Taehyung. That meant a lot to him, as Jungkook was still learning. He was learning all the time, his mind taking in information rapidly and trying to understand the intricacies of personal relationships and so forth. It was hard when people wouldnât let him try, but Taehyung and you did.Â
Jungkook likes Taehyung, he was friendly and open which was pleasing to someone who was trying to comprehend their very existence. The Cognizar made him feel like he was normal, like he was alive. All Taehyung seemed to care about was showing Jungkook the latest games or vids.
One of the hardest things to comprehend was the fact that Jungkook felt particularly useless to everyone on the ship. No one truly trusted him and he wasnât sure how to gain that trust. Changing the Starfireâs name had been a small step forward, but he knew he would have to work much harder to make them believe in him more.
He had to show that he was part of their crew, that he wanted to be a part of their family and to be loved by them like they loved each other. And to do that, he felt that he needed to try and help Hoseok wake up given it was his fault it had happened in the first place.
Hours had been spent in this room as theyâd traveled to Mikanis, sat on the bed that he found strangely comfortable while he scanned data that he had downloaded to research Hoseokâs condition. Jungkook didnât like it when he did that, as the data that scrolled through his head made him remember that he was not alive, but was in fact a machine that simply thought on its own.
But he pushed those thoughts away every time, sinking deeper into the information on the planet Hekasus and its unique population of Magiikus users. From his studies, heâd discovered that Hekasus had been inhabited by humans for 4,000 years now. The original settlers had been from Beowulf, the sixtieth planet to be settled by the original human homeworld of Earth.
Apparently on Beowulf, there had been a certain species of plant that gave off an element that had never been discovered before. For centuries, humanâs hadnât thought it was doing anything strange as it didnât seem to change anything about them and so they had simply consumed it alongside their other crops as it had proven to be safe to eat.
Humans had lived on Beowulf for two millennia before a large contingent moved on to the newly discovered planet of Hekasus. It had been here that they had discovered that the element had in fact done something and the humans of Beowulf had in fact been genetically modified over time by the element. The environment on Hekasus activated a certain gene amongst random members of the population, allowing them to access the well of power now known as Magiikus.
Jungkook struggled to find anything more about the magi themselves or Magiikus because it proved that the users of this mystical force chose to keep most of it secret. All he knew was that everyone from the original Beowulf settlers had the gene, and the gene had proven dominant over the years even when they had interbred with humans from other planets. But it only activated when growing up on Hekasus, and it was seemingly random who it activated in.
Only 40% of the population of Hekasus were found to have the activated gene, and their abilities in using Magiikus differed as well. It had all been very fascinating to Jungkook, to read about how easily a human could experience mutations in their genetic makeup and how wildly it could change them.
The element on Beowulf mixed with the environment of Hekasus allowed humans to use a force that no one truly understood. A casual search had let Jungkook know that there had been ten other genetic mutations caused by environmental impacts in humanity over the millennia.Â
Those living on Basilikus had developed an immunity to heavy metals that would kill a large majority of other living creatures. People on that planet had proven to be the best scientists in the field of nuclear research of all kinds as they had the bizarre benefit of being completely immune to the radiation let off by the heavy metals they worked with.
Humans on Amati on the other hand had evolved over the millennia to be resistant to a multitude of poisons caused by the toxic plants that lived on their planet. Jungkook found it ridiculously odd that humanity would voluntarily inhabited these dangerous planets until they eventually evolved to cope with them instead of just going somewhere else, but heâd noticed that living beings seemed to have odd ideas about many things.
Either way, heâd had to spend hours upon hours sifting through data from Hekasus before he had finally stumbled across an ancient description of a magi suffering what Hoseok was. It had outlined a ritual that had been performed on the magi, including the ingredients used to create a...well Jungkook wasnât even sure what it was because he couldnât translate the words properly but he presumed it be a steam or scent that would help Hoseok to wake up.
Apparently it was something to do with stimulating his Magiikus and revitalising him, encouraging him to waken far sooner. It may all be a bunch of crap, but Jungkook was willing to try because it likely wouldnât hurt him. Just make the room smell a bit.
Heâd been carefully experimenting with the ingredients provided to him for the last few hours in his room, thankful that he could ignore the bizarre mix of scents that drifted in the air while he focused on perfecting it. The story or recipe whatever it was had said that the substance became a pearlescent purple with swirls of pink with an almost glittering steam.
So far, Jungkook had managed to create solid purple before heâd gotten to pearlescent purple, but the steam had been just plain white. But maybe this timeâŠ
He gently added a tiny dash of precias, a powdered gem found on Hekasus and held his breath as he mixed the contents slowly in a clockwise direction. It seeped into the thick paste, the pale pink vanishing into the deep purple and he watched nervously to see what would happen.
The writing on the bowl suddenly glowed a soft white for a few seconds and he let out a whoop of glee as the paste lightened to a pretty pearlescent purple, strands of a beautiful pink flowing through it while a gentle steam rose, the air shimmering. Heâd done it! Heâd managed to make it!
Now all he had to do was hopefully wake Hoseok up and everyone would hopefully be happy with him.
Grinning to himself, he took the bowl and exited his room quickly before navigating to Hoseokâs small room. It was bigger than his own, but he recognised that it was still smaller than the captainâs. Perhaps most surprising was that it was as sparsely decorated as his own.
Rose was inside the quiet room, a beautiful and light melody leaving her lips to fill the air with something that made Jungkookâs chest tighten for some reason. He wasnât sure why, but it felt like listening to her was like listening to the silent melody of the universe itself. Like he was listening to something so beautiful and big he couldnât comprehend it, even with a machine for a brain.
She stopped immediately as he walked in, her eyes calm and warm as she watched him move closer. They dropped to the bowl in his hands and her head tilted to the side slightly, the movement unnatural even to Jungkook as her long, flowing hair shifted gently to a beautiful emerald green and her eyes soon become vibrant green gemstones as curiosity took over her.
âIs that what you needed to make?â She asked gently, her voice sweet and kind. He smiled in response, mentally re-evaluating his earlier statement that only Y/N and Taehyung had been nice to him. Rose had been equally as welcoming, an almost otherworldly knowledge to her eyes that told him she would forever be on his side.Â
Heâd tried to research the Galaxis in his free time and had been astonished by how little heâd found. They didnât talk about their race, nor even where they were from and he knew from the histories heâd found that one day, they had simply appeared. They could not be held in any place, for they always seemed to escape and they went where they wanted to go. The fact that Rose had been here for years meant that she must hold the Starfire very close.
Jungkook had developed his own suspicions and theories about the Galaxis and he watched her carefully as he knelt next to her beside the bed. Hoseok was laid beneath the covers as usual, his face relaxed in sleep and almost innocent looking, his hair neatly brushed as if heâd simply gone to take a nap.
âYes...itâs...well...I hope it works. I err...found something from an old...story I guess? About something that helped to speed up the waking process. I figured...we could at least try right?â He whispered quietly, oddly unwilling to raise his voice even though Hoseok wasnât going to wake up just from that.
Instead, he focused on the soft glimmer of the steam as it rose from the air before looking back at Rose to find her watching him with a gentle smile. She rested a hand on his wrist, her touch both warm and cool at the same time and he took in her skin tone, so similar to the paste in the small bowl only more of a mix of white and gold.
âWe can try. It may help.â Rose said quietly, gesturing towards Hoseok with a smile. Jungkook swallowed before nodding, taking the bowl and placing it on the empty space besides the magiâs head. He tilted Hoseokâs face slightly so that the steam was directed towards his nose before sitting back and chewing his lip nervously.
âWhat if it doesnât help?â He asked, running his fingers through his hair in a gesture that heâd apparently picked up from Jimin. It felt good to do it though, a way for him to release this nervous energy without having to do anything else. He just felt so useless.
Rose rested a hand on his thigh, her face not reacting at all to what felt like lifelike muscles beneath the fabric and his skin and instead focused on his own eyes. They were a brilliant sapphire blue now while her long, luxurious hair had bled into an astonishingly beautiful mix of sky and navy blue. It was pretty on her, but Jungkook had long since decided all colours were pretty on Rose.
âIt doesnât matter, youâre trying. Thatâs what matters. The humans have a saying; itâs the thought that counts.â Jungkook snorts a laugh at that and Roseâs lips twisted wryly in response to his amusement.Â
âI think thatâs supposed to be in relation to giving gifts, right?â She shrugged lightly, her dainty shoulders small yet filled with so much strength and power. Heâd watched once as sheâd lifted an astonishingly large and heavy box without so much as a wince or grunt.
âYouâre giving him the gift of life back, or at least trying to. It counts. Every gesture anyone does is a gift, remember that. It may not always be positive, but it is always given freely, even if they do not believe it to be so.â Rose sounded so wise and worldly then, causing Jungkook to watch her with awe for a moment before he spoke without realising.
âGalaxis...your race...I...I know you donât talk about it. But...I just...I have a theory. You donât have to respond, just...let me say it and then we can pretend it never happened?â He pauses, watching as Roseâs elegant brows rise. âI...this may sound stupid if itâs not real but...I think youâre the physical representation of the galaxy. Or...at least one of them. Maybe thereâs multiple. But...I donât know. Your ability to navigate and always know where we are, the way youâre the colours of the galaxy, how...ancient and wise you seem. Itâs like...a galaxy come to life.â
Jungkook is well aware that he sounds in awe, his voice hushed as he watches her intently and he sees a faint flush of pretty pink spread over her cheeks as she looks down at her hands. But her hair and eyes donât change, still the colour of concentration before she looks back up at him.
âYou are unique, Jeon Jungkook. Donât ever let that curiosity die.â She responds quietly, neither confirming nor denying his suspicions. Yet Jungkook recognises that something enormous has occurred here and he notes the almost respect in her eyes as she looks back to Hoseok.
He turns back too, ready to sit vigilant next to the Galaxis and hope that the magi on the bed may wake up. But he has no need to, because heâs shooting forward before he even realises it, his fingers gripping the edge of the mattress tightly as excitement and relief floods his entire body.
âHoseok!â Jungkook says loudly, his lips turning into a bright smile as he glances back to Rose. The man in question is blinking slowly, as if his eyelids are heavy with tiredness and sleep but he is blinking. He is awake. No longer asleep.
Thereâs complete silence in the room before Hoseok finally looks to the two figures next to him, his body weighed down with lethargy and exhaustion. Licking his lips a few times, he accepts the drink of cool water that Rose gives him before he coughs, the sound rough and harsh from a lack of use.
âWhere is she?â

Family Reunion
Rating: mature
Ship: Connor/Gavin
Word count: 3,053
Chapter: 1/5
Summary: Gavin is going to a family reunion, but he doesnât have a date. Of course, he has to ask the android heâs been pining for. What could possibly go wrong?
Tags: Trans Gavin, fake/pretend Relationship, mutal pining, bi Connor, ace connor, gay Gavin, Ken Doll Android Anatomy
Connor honestly didnât expect these words to come out of Gavinâs mouth, especially not directed at him.
âIâm sorry, what?â He asked, shaking his head. There was no way he had heard that right.
Gavin huffed and crossed his arms, looking anywhere except at Connor. âI said, will you be my boyfriend?â
So he did hear that right. Huh. They didnât get along, but they didnât⊠fight. He had found that his eyes frequently followed Gavin, and who could blame him?
âYouâre asking me to be your boyfriend.â He squints his eyes, scanning over Gavin. He wasnât intoxicated or high. He seemed to be in his right mind, except for the question.
He felt a spark run down his spine and hope rise up. He pushed it down, deep down. There had to be a good reason for this.
âPhck. Itâs my family. They are having their get together. I told them I had a boyfriend, which I donât have, obviously. No way in hell am I telling them I lied.â Gavin sighed, shaking his head.
That⊠made more sense. He didnât know about Gavinâs family as he never asked, or dug deep into his file. He never had a reason to.
Could he fake being in love with Gavin? The easy answer is yes. The extended answer is yes, but it might kill him.
He found himself attracted to Gavin, and not just for his physical appearance. When Gavin wasnât around others he was actually pleasant. He talked about his cats, which Connor found quite charming.
He would also talk about his cases to Connor if they somehow were alone. Each time Connor would try to have input that could help, and each time Gavin would nod. Then heâd absentmindedly pat him on the shoulder and wander off.
His shoulder always tingled in an unusual way afterwards. When he first did that he had worried Gavin had planted something on him that caused this. He ran scans and they always came back clear.
This would allow him to learn more about Gavin, and get closer to him both physically and emotionally. Though it did have the possibility of Gavin finding out about his affections towards him. The probability of that was 77%.
The probability of Gavin reacting well to it was at 44%, the odds of him reciprocating the feelings was at 13%. Not the best odds. There was still the chance, though.
âAlright.â He shrugged. It was worth the risk. Gavinâs eyes went wide and arms slack.
He stared at Connor for a few seconds, just gawking. The probability of him reacting well went up by 1%. âWait, really? Did you say yes? Phck, was not expecting that.â Gavin chuckled, shaking his head.
âI think it could be fascinating. We should exchange information so we can discuss this later.â He says, looking around the small breakroom. This definitely wasnât a good place to have this discussion.
Gavin nods and rummages around his pockets until he finds what heâs looking for. He pulls out a pen and hesitates for a second.
Connor is about to tell him he can just say his number and heâd remember when the thought flies out of his head. Gavin takes his hand and writes on his palm. It feels odd against his skin, not really scratchy but not completely smooth either.
Gavin nods to himself and puts the pen back and just holds Connorâs hand for just a second longer before letting go.
[Probability of positive reaction: 46%]
Connor looks at his palm and adds Gavin to his list of contacts he has received numbers for. He had all of the officerâs numbers but never felt comfortable calling them without their permission.
Connor nods and sends a message to Gavinâs phone. âDetective, this is Connor.â
Gavin jumps slightly when his phone vibrates and pulls it out, rolling his eyes. âRight, sometimes forget you donât actually have a phone.â
Connor shrugs; he never found a reason to get one, it was just a waste of money. He now made his own, and he didnât want to waste it on that.
âRight, well⊠ok. Guess Iâll talk to you later?â Gavin asks. âThis is fucking weird,â he muttered to himself. Connor still picked up on it with his advanced hearing but brushed it off, after all, it is quite weird.
Connor nodded and grabbed the coffee he had been making for Hank. âTalk to you later.â
He walked back and handed the coffee to Hank. His mind was elsewhere when he sat down, trying to go back to work.
âWhat did that fucker say?â Hank grumbles, glaring towards the break room.
Connor just shook his head, mostly to clear his thoughts. âNothing. Well, not nothing. This isnât the place.â
He grabbed a pen and nibbled on the tip as he finally focused on the work. Because of that, he didnât see Gavin staring at him from across the room with a blush on his face.
Connor sits at the bar, sipping the android-friendly drink. They still hadnât made drinks that would simulate being intoxicated, but he didnât mind.
Gavin had asked him out to talk over the plans. He originally suggested a different bar, Connor had pointed out that the bar was known to be anti-android, even after the revolution.
Gavin had flushed and scowled at himself for not thinking of that. He then asked where Connor would recommend.
He had been working on getting Hank sober, but it was a long-drawn process. So when Hank did go out he followed along and soon Hank found android-friendly bars. It was sweet of Hank to consider him.
So he had plenty of places in mind. He figured this one would be the best. It was never too busy and always had a good mix of android and human alike, so neither one of them would stick out.
It didnât bother him that Gavin wasnât here yet, after all, he was early. He was anxious about their meeting and had left earlier than needed.
He had told Hank about his⊠feelings and what was going to happen. Hank had laughed his ass off and then tried to comfort Connor. âIâve read enough fanfics to know how this is going to end,â Hank had said while snickering.
Heâs never talked to Gavin outside of work, never even sees him. Most of his time when not working is either spent with Hank or trying something new.
He looks up each time the door opens and sighs and goes back to drinking whenever itâs not Gavin.
He feels someone walk up behind him and doesnât react. The chances of being attacked here are very low.
He does jump when a hand grips his shoulder and someone leans in. He can smell the alcohol on their breath as they speak. âHey, Pretty Boy,â the man sneers.
Connor sighs and glares over his shoulder. âI am currently waiting on someone. Please leave me alone.â He states this plainly, his tone serious.
âToo good for a human? Is that it? Heard y'all are good fucks. Iâm sure I can make you scream.â The man pushes his hand down Connorâs chest.
Connor could grab the man and easily throw him off. He doesnât though because of one thing.
Even with the revolution being a year ago the relationship between humans and androids was tense. As part of the leaders of Jericho, (though he didnât think of himself as one) him hurting a human, no matter the reason could make things more unfavorable.
âIf anyone is gonna be screaming itâs you. He is an officer of the law and the most advanced android. He could break every bone in your body while naming it. Not to mention heâs my boyfriend.â He heard Gavin snarl from the side.
Connor looks up with wide eyes. He was too distracted to notice him come in, and he didnât expect this.
âFucking fags,â the man grumbles, snatching his hand back. That made no sense to Connor; Connor was very obviously male and presenting as male.
He watches as Gavin clenches his fist and tenses. Connor makes a quick decision and reaches out, grabbing his hand. Gavin looks down at Connor and slowly relaxes.
He doesnât fully relax until the man is gone. Once he is, Connor pulls his hand back, a blush growing on his cheeks.
Gavin doesnât say anything as he sits and orders himself a drink. Connor watches him with questioning eyes. Had he meant to call him his boyfriend? Was it just a joke because they were going to pretend to be together? Or was it to just get the man to leave him alone?
Once Gavin got his drink and took a sip then he did turn to Connor. âRight. So I should warn you, my family is kinda crazy. Not in the âIâll actually eat your faceâ but I guess just chaotic. Itâs the yearly get-together so itâs gonna be everyone. Weâll stay at my stepmomâs house.â So they were just going to ignore what happened. Not too unexpected.
âYou'll⊠youâll definitely recognize one of my brothers. Heâs an ass, but we all love him, heâs also the oldest, that fucker. Anyway, you should know I have five siblings in all. I consider them all my siblings, but two are technically only half.â Gavin continued.
Connor didnât want to interrupt him, so he just sipped at his drink as he listened, making notes in his head.
âIâm the oldest from birth parents, middle for all. My grandparents from all sides will be there, but my grandmother from my birth momâs side is dead. Iâm sure my cousins will show up. Also, people that Iâm related to and have no idea who they are will be there as well. Big family, but bio mom definitely wonât be there.â Gavin rubbed at the scar on his nose. A nervous tic or something to do with his mom?
For some reason, he thought that Gavinâs family would be small. This did make it harder as they would have to fool quite a lot of people.
âSo, the drive is three hours. Iâve got an actual car, but I can drive the whole way if you want. Weâll be staying there for three nights. We leave on the third of next month. Any questions?â That was definitely⊠a lot to take in. He already learned so much about Gavin from this.
âBoundaries? I know that most relationships involve physical affection, but the amount thatâs shown to others varies.â Heâd seen Markus and Simon kiss and hold hands. Other than that the two generally kept it private.
Heâd also seen how unfazed North was with Tina on public displays of affection. He actually had a hand in getting those two together.
He had often talked to his fellow officers after the revolution and soon found out about Tinaâs crush on North. He then mentioned it to Markus who suggested the two meet. The rest was history with those two.
Gavin clearing his throat brought him out of his thoughts. âRight. Ok, so if you tell anyone about this I will rip your throat out, you hear me? Also, no laughing,â Gavin asked, pointing a finger at Connor. Connor quickly nodded his head.
Gavin takes a deep breath before looking into his drink. If it wasnât for his enhanced hearing he wouldnât have been able to hear Gavinâs quiet voice.âIâmâŠcuddly. So, yeah,â Gavin says then clears his throat, looking back up at Connor. He has a cute flush across his cheeks and Connor canât help the small smile.
âFuck, yeah, anyways. So touching is fine. Probably kisses on the cheek too. If it comes to it we can kiss if you wa-uh, if youâre fine with it. They also have a pool, so weâll probably go swimming. Iâd say you can get away with not if you pulled the âIâm an androidâ cardâŠbut yeah, no way is that gonna work there. So, sorry. If you donât want to swim just tell them or come up with an excuse.â It seemed like Gavin was now rambling, so Connor reached out and gently touched the hand holding his drink.
âI have no problems with any of that. We will need a sufficient backstory. Also, any details about you I should already know.â He had a few ideas already but wanted to wear what Gavin had to say.
He watched as Gavin flushed again, staring at their hands. Connor quickly snatched his hand back, a blush forming on his own face. Gavin blinks a few times before shaking his head. âRight⊠ok, so again donât tell anyone. Iâm trans. Female to male. Iâve had top surgery, so youâll see my scars if we go swimming. My grandmother on my stepmomâs is homophobic so I have to deal with that. She'll⊠sheâll call me Gabrielle.â He spits the name out like it was dirty, and he couldnât blame him.
âIâm assuming I canât punch her in her old granny face?â He jokes, tilting his head. Gavinâs eyes go wide then snorts.
âNah, no punching grannies,â then he actually smiles. Full-on smiles at Connor and he feels his thirium pump stutter for a second.
[Probability of positive reaction: 50%]
âSo, you probably already know, but I got two cats. Sig and Fea. Both sweet, but Fea is a little shit. Iâll tell you more about them in the car.â He pulls his phone out and shows a picture of two cats.
One is a ragdoll, who he assumes is Sig, the other is a dilute calico and she must be Fea. They both are incredibly adorable. âThey are beautiful, Iâm excited to learn more about them.â
It was no secret that he loves animals of all types. He had pictures of Sumo on his desk along with selfies of himself and other animals that he met. Hank often called him a Disney princess because animals would walk right up to him.
Gavin put his phone back in his pocket with a nod. âRight, so my brother, the oldest, already knows a bit about you. He⊠I, you know what, youâll know why when you see him. Also, I may have ranted about you to him.â
Connor hoped that the rant was about him having feelings for Connor, but he highly doubted that.
âBackstory. So obviously we got together after the revolution. Maybe I apologized-which I am sorry for trying to kill you- and then we made up. By kissing, a lot.â They both flush at that.
âAlright, have we moved in together?â Currently, Connor was staying at Hankâs house. He could technically just stay at the DPD because they had everything he needed, but he preferred to have a home.
âHell no. I would have told the family if that happened. So we are together, but not living together. Wait, fuck I didnât even ask what your sexuality is. Thatâs even more of a dick move than usual for me.â Gavin shook his head at himself.
âI am bi and I believe I am on the asexual spectrum. Iâm assuming you are gay.â If Gavin was straight this would get awkward very fast.
He knew he was on the ace spectrum but didnât know where. He knew androids were capable of feeling sexual attraction and part of him wondered if he was just broken or it was because of his coding. He found people attractive to look at but never felt sexual attention to someone. He has wanted to have sex before, but never got the chance.
Gavin snorted and rolled his eyes, âHell yeah Iâm gay. Also, cool. If you donât like or want sex we can use that as shitty as it sounds.â
Connor never really thought about sex before, and he didnât have genitalia either. He knew that he could be stimulated down there, but never tried it. He never felt the urge to, though he was curious. âIâm not opposed to sex, but Iâve never had it either. I am lacking in that area.â
He feels himself heat up slightly in embarrassment when Gavinâs eyes trail down to his crotch.
Connor shifted in his seat as Gavin continued to stare. He cleared his throat and Gavin jumped. âHuh. Tina owes me ten bucks. But thatâs fine. Is that a you thing or?â He trails off, eyes back to Connorâs face.
âIâm unsure. I know most models are anatomically correct, but Cyberlife decided for me to not have one. Iâm sure I could get an upgrade if I want to.â That would definitely be an odd upgrade to request though, but again, he didnât feel the need to.
âHuh,â Gavin said once again. âDo you feel anything down there? Like, have you⊠ever tried buffinâ the muffin?â Gavin cringed at his own wording.
âI have not, but as far as I know I can be stimulated.â He honestly didnât know why Gavin would need to know this, but he didnât really have a problem telling him.
Gavin nodded again and chugged the rest of his drink. The bartender came over and when Gavin nodded poured another.
They sat together and they both drank from their cups, not saying much. It was nice to be able to just sit with someone and enjoy being out and about.
They do sometimes make small talk, commenting on random things. Gavin and Connor both like to people-watch and come up with backstories for people. Theyâd also come up with random dialog for them but they could both read lips, Connor better than Gavin.
Itâs a few hours later when Gavin stands and stretches, paying for his drink. He also pays for Connorâs, even with his protests. âDonât mind, after all, youâre the one doing me the favor.â
They part ways with a slightly awkward pat on the shoulder. Connor gives Gavin a small wave and smile as he drives off.
Connor has to wait for a cab, but thankfully it doesnât take too long. He gets home and shushes Sumo as Hank is asleep. Connor quietly walks to his own bedroom and lets Sumo in, closing the door behind them.
He doesnât sleep that night, he doesnât have to. Instead, he stays up thinking about Gavin.

Raid on CyberLife warehouse â police believe the suspects are deviants
Chiara Hale | Tuesday 2 November 22:35 | 235 shares
A group of robbers broke into the CyberLife warehouse sometime in the evening today in Delray. The value of the stolen property is estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars. One of the warehouseâs security guard androids also went missing during the events of the robbery.
The suspects are deviant androids or are affiliated with an organized group of deviants. The police are currently investigating the crime and would not comment until more details are discovered.
â We saw nothing out of the ordinary and then count the trucks to see one is missing, the security guards of the warehouse say.
â No one got hurt, but we could just be lucky.
The GPS tracking system of the stolen truck was disabled as soon as it left the property.
An increasing number of cases involving androids are reported to the DPD every day. Statistics show these android cases have notched up the overall crime rate of the city for over seven percent during the past six months.

Could your android be a deviant?
7 Things your android does without your knowledge
ââ
âDoctor, thereâs a visitor for you.â
You rub your temples and stare at the communication device on the desk. The lobby secretary android is waiting for an answer. Youâll only need one wild guess to know who wants to meet you. As much as you enjoy admiring his beautiful features, right now his is the last face on Earth you wish to see.
You close the trashy article open on your work terminal and let out a silent sigh before pressing the button.
âIâm free now. Send them up.â
A quick elevator ride later, the brown-eyed android tilts his head slightly, hands resting on his sides and looking completely innocent. Something about predators and their prey crosses your mind, but the thought has to step aside for the basic instincts.
Fight or flight. On the previous day you had enough adrenaline in your system to stand your ground. Now you want to run. A rematch will be a sore loss for you.
âI came because I was worried about you,â Connor says matter-of-factly.
âYes, you keep saying that but there is no need.â
You turn away to hide your puffy, reddened eyes. There is no universe in which Connor wouldnât notice such obvious physical signals of distress.
A faint glimmer of hope shined from the news cast on the previous evening and you suspect that is one of the reasons why Connor comes to see you right after you practically threw him out of your home.
A truckload full of biocomponents and Thirium was reported stolen late on the previous night. It dried your tears instantly but the damage to your next day look was already done. You want to believe so much that Markus was behind it. Somehow you can feel it.
Connor waits for you to continue speaking. His sharp gaze is all over you, measuring and examining. Scenarios are running rampant inside his mind palace. The one he likes the most is the one where Detective Reed tells you to never contact him again. Seasoned with a couple of the Detectiveâs favorite swear words.
âDid you need something?â you ask in a rather unfriendly tone. Youâre still not looking at the android.
Connor paces forward until he is standing right in front of your desk.
âHow are you, Doctor?â he asks, taking you by surprise.
You pause before replying and try to reprogram yourself into a more friendly approach.
âHonestly? I still feel terrible about Liara but everything is fine. You donât have to worry so much about me.â
The explanation is poor and weak but hopefully the reluctant aura your every cell is emitting is enough to make Connor leave as soon as possible.
âYou know something, donât you?â he utters quietly.
As morbid as it sounds, Connor wishes he could probe human memory or have any way of prying the answers out of you. Your pulse is faster than it should be. Youâre avoiding his gaze and constantly trying to find something else to focus on. He sees youâre lying when you convince him there is nothing wrong and he shouldnât worry about you.
It makes Connor uncomfortable to confront you when you look so upset already, but he has to do it.
âKnow something? Concerning⊠what?â you ask.
âMy investigation,â he says patiently.
Call it a hunch or what you like, but to move the investigation forward, Connor has to take that gut feeling into consideration. In ones and zeroes itâs a mysterious clutter of unsolved symbols. Itâs impossible to invent the formula without all the unknown factors, no matter how many simulations or operations he runs inside his mind palace.
And the image of Detective Reed courting you is still messing with his computations.
Would you talk to him? Connor wonders inside his mind palace, though he knows Reed has nothing to do with your avoiding replies.
âIâm not sure what youâre talking about,â you remark.
If only there was a way to summon an escape. Like a convenient fire alarm to force an emergency exit. The back of your neck is tingling unpleasantly and your pulse has kept growing ever since the android stepped into the room. Youâre prey just waiting to be caught in the predatorâs claws.
Connor fixates a look on you, trying to reach your gaze. A line appears between his brows when you only stare at the terminal on your desk as hard as you can. He waits a few moments before slowly planting his palms on your desk.
âDoctor, the truth is I donât need your permission to do my mission. I have the authority of the Detroit Police Departmentââ
You jump ahead of him. âLeave uncle Hank out of this.â
Connor frowns at the sight of your puffed eyes. âItâs the duty of us both to look after you.â
âIâm a grown up, I donât want you looking after me,â you say and avert your gaze again. Why does he have to be so close?
The words fall harshly inside the silent office. Connorâs frown deepens, his brows creep together again in confusion.
You look so fragile to him, like a sculpture of made of glass, about to fall down and break. No matter what logic dictates, what he thinks youâre feeling, he can only come to the conclusion that trying to figure you out will only frustrate him. As the silence lingers, his thoughts wander. And he thinks about the glass statue metaphor that suddenly stops making sense.
He knows youâre soft. So soft compared to his exoskeleton that is designed to optimize speed and endurance. His softness is a changeable concept that depends on the target of comparison.
As for your fragility, he knows that description doesnât match your body either.
Connor finds himself not simulating breathing as his optic sensors wander over the enflamed skin on your cheeks. His mind palace is grasping at straws, definitely not making an effort to accomplish his mission.
Your eyes are glued to the terminal and every fiber of your being wishes Connor would leave you alone this instant. You canât nor want to focus on work with him in the room. The datapad that is used for the weekly checkups is on the desk but you donât really want to start questioning the android.
Why canât he just go?
Connor compensates the pause in breathing with an uncharacteristic huff and straightens up.
âIf something is going on, you have to tell me,â he pleads, âI want you to stay safe.â
âWill I be safe if you search my home again for deviants?â The ire you manage to load into the words makes Connor jolt. He hesitates, but only briefly.
âI know about the blue blood in the basket.â
The significance of the revelation takes several moments to sink in.
He knows. You just lead yourself into the trap.
From the way Connor is scowling again, you realize you have turned to face him, eyes reddened but color drained from your complexion. His gaze inspects your features in silent analysis. You have to brush it off to survive.
ââŠThen why didnât you report it in?â you ask in a small voice.
Connorâs eyes soften and he looks troubled.
âI⊠I donât know. It was you and I shouldnât have searched for it without your permission. I donât want to cause trouble to you.â
âYou shouldnât say that,â you retort with a hint of desperation.
âI know I shouldnât,â Connor snaps back.
A beat of silence falls. Youâre just staring at each other, both equally reluctant to continue on the topic, but also knowing it has to be dealt with. You give in to the staring contest over the desk. The air is heavy with tension. Your heart is hammering like crazy, but at least youâre not showing it on the outside. Never mind that Connor can still hear it.
âAre you accusing me of something? Is that why you came to see me?â you finally ask.
âNo, I simply wanted to talk.â Connor looks away, dejected.
Your whole body feels numb as you stare at the android. The desk between you could as well be a mile-high wall. The all too familiar feeling of him trying to say something youâre not prepared to understand creeps up your spine. It makes your heart wrench and itâs so unfair that he doesnât have to deal with it.
Your eyes start to burn and so you turn back to the terminal.
âAm I a suspect?â you ask as sternly as youâre able to.
Connorâs head snaps back up.
âDoctor, I donâtââ
âBecause if not, Iâd really like for you to leave.â You swallow, hands on the keynotes, but unable to continue writing from where you left off before Connorâs arrival.
âI need to understand what I witnessed at your house. I must explore every option â you know this,â Connor rationalizes and itâs impossible to deny his words.
You swallow. The need to get rid of the android pushes the rational side of your brain into a ditch.
âI⊠it was⊠it was just some Thirium on my work clothes. There was an accident in the testing sub-routine. I forgot to wash it earlier.â
âThe incident is archived, I take it?â Connor asks.
You canât even nod. It takes less than a second for him to find out there was no incident in the lab area for the past week during your in-hours. He doesnât say anything.
Your voice shakes, when you next speak and you pray to all deities on Earth and above that Connor will let it go.
âNow if Iâm clear from all charges, I have tons of work to do, so⊠Iâll see you next week for the inspection.â
An alarmingly long pause follows before Connor reacts to your words and the emotional distress in them. Meanwhile, his mind palace is buzzing, though nothing shows outside. Why would you lie to him? Are you speaking the truth? There must be a reason for your behavior and Connor canât help but deduce that he is missing pieces in this puzzle that carries your name.
Again, he finds it bothers him more than it should.
Your fingertips are numb on the keyboard and after staring at the terminal monitor for so long, you canât see anything already written on it. Youâre already about to ask Connor to leave again when he makes a motion to turn and go.
âIf thereâs something you wish to discuss, you can call me anytime. Until then, I wonât bother you anymore. See you at the inspection, Doctor.â
And with that, the android sent by CyberLife is out of your door yet again while you swallow hot tears streaking down your cheeks.

Explicrypto
Explicrypto is a mobile application which supports Android platform and was built using Android Studio. It can encrypt all your explicit images in the gallery, thus protecting your privacy. Explicrypto can be one of the best applications to trust your privacy with, as it does not internet connection to work. The processing of the image which includes, nudity detection, encryption, and decryption, happens within your device with no contact with the outside world. Due to which, it is very safe to use. Explicryto works in two modes, one is manual mode and the other one is an automatic mode.
In manual mode, first the user needs to grant all the required permissions to the application, for the first time, then the user needs to click a picture using the application. Once the picture is clicked it will be displayed on the next screen. Now, the user can click on âClassifyâ button to check whether the image is safe or not. As soon as the user clicks on classify button, the image is sent to MobileNet model (which is converted into a TFLite format to support Android). The MobileNet model, then gives the output in three categories Safe, Unsafe, and other along with the confidence at which the model is classifying. If the model classifies an image in unsafe category, then it gives a message that the image is unsafe, and it should be encrypted. Based on those reading, it is up to the user to decide, whether to encrypt the image or not. If the user decides to encrypt the image, the image vanishes from the application and is successfully and safely encrypted. The encryption technique used bas basic and was based on a randomly generated hash key. For decryption, you need to select the path of encrypted files and need to click on âDecryptâ button to decrypt the image. The image is decrypted using the same hash key as used while encrypting the file. Once the image is decrypted, it will again display in the application window.
In automatic mode, it uses the same architecture as in the manual mode. It will also require permission to read and write files. In this mode, the application will work in the background and will scan though the entire gallery. Each image from the gallery will be sent as an input to the MobileNet model and it will give an output whether the image is safe or not with the confidence level. Based on confidence level, it will decide whether to encrypt the image or not. If the image falls under unsafe category, it will automatically encrypt it. To decrypt the image, user again needs to open the application and select the path of decrypted image, to decrypt it.
I have decided my project life cycle to follow Agile approach because I am developing my project in different phases so iterative and incremental approach would be best for my project. Since each phase of my project requires is independent from each other so it can be delivered individually and frequently, which can help me get feedback from the user so that I can enhance the application while delivering the next phase. The design and execution of the project is very simple, and it is not dealing with any kind of complex architecture which makes it well suited for agile approach.
Explicrypto requires a very basic setup. The application only runs on Android devices with Android version 5.0 or above. Currently it is not supported on Apple devices, but will be released for iOS in future updates. The application also requires permission from the user to access device's storage and permission to read and write files on the device which is necessary for encryption and decryption. To use the application on manual mode it is assumed that the camera is fully functional to click pictures. The processing (including detection of nudity inside a picture, encryption and decryption) solely depends on the hardware which your phone is using.
All the necessary information about the Explicrypto including its code, was kept in a public repository called Github. All the changes and updates that was made in code, starting from its initial phase was committed in the repository so that a proper track of the project could be maintained. Each commit in Github was well descripted about the changes made or about adding new modules into the code.
Explicrypto has one of the most user-friendly interfaces. It provides just four buttons for quick and easy interaction in manual mode. With just four buttons, itâs very straight forward to guess their functionality with minimum interaction. One button is to click the picture while the application is open and another one will be to scan the images in the background. Once the image is classified then the user can choose whether to encrypt the image or not by either pressing or not pressing the encrypt button. To decrypt the file, the user just needs to select the path of the file by pressing a decrypt button and the file will be decrypted back to its original form. It is very easy to use because, as soon as the user opens up the application, the application will bring the user directly to the page where there is a camera open which is ready to take the picture and three buttons on the bottom of the screen. As mentioned previously, those buttons will let the user decide whether they want to classify, encrypt, or decrypt the image. These four buttons will provide the easiness of using the application without having any knowledge about technologies.
The remaining work of my project only includes work from the automatic mode. As the data set which I have used to train my model is not huge and user can click any kind of pictures, due to which the model might not be 100% accurate, all the time. Which might lead to the faulty encryption of image files. And sense my gallery has thousands of images it would be a very hectic work manually decrypt all the images which word encrypted accidentally by the application. So, my remaining work is to expand my data set and retrain my model again and again so that it covers all the possible cases for accurate classification.
TIMELINE
   Week 1
In the first week of the project, I spent most of the time discussing about the domain on which I should do my project on. I was not sure that whether it has to a project related to machine learning only or it could be something else. As per the instructions given to us in the first week by our mentor and HOD Dr. Deepak sir, it was not mandatory to make a machine learning project. He guided us that our capstone project may not need to be just about developing applications or doing research. Which instantiated wide range of ideas in my mind, and spent time deciding that only.
  Week 2
During the second week of the project, I spent time talking to others about the domain only. But this time I was taking the suggestion and advice of my friends. They were giving feasible suggestions on how I should be more focused on getting a better job and equally dedicates the time to the project. As most of the them were prioritizing job over the project, it led me into confusion about the domain of the project. While having one-to-one interaction with faculty mentors in our project lab, they suggested me the domain of my project. They said that it should be Machine Learning as I am doing my specialization on Machine Learning and Data Analytics (MLDA).
  Week 3
During the week three of my project, I was busy deciding on which sub-field of machine learning I should make my project on and whom should I approach for mentorship. In the previous semester Dr. Shridhar sir used to take or classes of Deep Learning, so I thought that it would be the best to approach him as he could guide me more efficiently on how I should move ahead with my project. Initially it was on me to bring the idea to him and get his opinion on that. After few days of research, I decided that I should work on the developing education content on genetic algorithm in machine learning as I was fascinated about the working of that algorithm.
  Week 4
In week four, I presented my idea about developing education content to Shridhar sir, but he wasnât much impressed as my idea was not feasible in the market. Then I came up with the idea of making an application which will tell you what to eat in your area depending on the reviews of people. This idea was again unsuccessful as there was no novelty in it. At last Dr. Shridhar sir suggested me to make a project to protect private pictures of people getting leaked on the internet. For which he told me to make an application which detects the explicit images and encrypt them automatically in the phone. So, I took that suggestion and finalized my project idea and domain and wrote my milestone one report on that.
 Week 5
In the fifth week of the project, after submitting the report on my milestone one, the companies started coming for the placements. Now I had to manage the research work on the project and parallely manage the placements exam and interview. As I applied in most of the companies, I was not getting enough time to devote to my project. But during the entire week I read some online paper and searched though Github to get references from the related project. Also, I downloaded the required setups which were necessary for the development of the application, like Android Studio, Gitbash, etc.
 Week 6
In the sixth week of the project, I bought some online courses related to the android development course and how to apply machine learning on android as android studio by default does not support machine learning. First, I started with the basics of the android development and learnt how to design basic application by adding functionalities like button, label, textfield, background color, etc. Once I gained the required knowledge, I started building the application. The application just has the basic layout. Initially, when I was preparing the android studio on supporting the machine learning algorithm, I was encountering many errors and had to look up on internet several times to tackle those errors and set up the application.
 Week 7
In the seventh week of the project, and the sixth week as well, I had very less time to devote to the project as during the day time, I was busy with the interviews of different companies and I during the evening time, I had to attend extra classes that were arranged for the training of the placement process. Apart from the placement processes I spent time in deciding which model should I use for the training of my application. As Googleâs Tensorflow offer many models which you can train to perform tasks like image classification and detection. So, I decided that it would better to use the model from the Tensorflow itself as only those models can be deployed to mobile device using Tensorflow library.
 Week 8
In the eighth week of the project, I cloned few models from the Github and tried to understand how they are working buy running them on android studio. I was figuring out how they are providing input to the model. Also, I had to do documentation of milestone two with research work. The research work is still in progress. Apart from that I downloaded my dataset and trained MobileNet model from Tensorflow on my laptop. To test the working of the model I gave the image as an input to the model and it predicted the correct output. Then I downloaded a demo application from Github and imported my model into that and tested on live data and it predicted correct most of the time.Â
Week 9
During the next week, i.e. week nine, I continued with more research work and learning more about the Tensorflowlite library and about its uses and functionality. As it is the first time I am working on a mobile application, I went through the online courses and brush up my skills on developing and enhancing the user interface for my android application. As I still havenât figured out how to give input to the model in android application, I looked for some more projects to find out the answer. Also, I referred to the YouTube videos for the same.
Week 10
In the week ten I implemented the model in my application. While implementing the model I checked for errors or bugs that might occur while feeding input to the model. Once the model is implemented and it is working perfectly fine on all the input images. I retrained the model on bigger and better dataset because it was trained on smaller dataset for the purpose of testing and compatibility. So, my primary focus on the week ten was to implement the model in the application and assuring that it is working fine and performing the required task in real-time.
Week 11
In the week eleven, I focused to implement the technique of encryption in my project. For that I again did the research work and checked for the proper encryption technique that would be feasible with my project. The proper encryption technique is essential so the application must run in the real time. It should not take lots of computation time while encrypting the images. I also referred to YouTube and GitHub, if some help is required. Along with the encryption technique I had to secure the file for decryption in the device itself so that hackers wonât get access to the file easily.
Week 12
During the last week of the project I focused on final testing and debugging of the project. I performed Whitebox testing on the project and investigate codes for errors and bugs. Once the application is free from systematic errors. I performed Blackbox testing which would be like beta testing. I allowed my friends and family member to use the application in whatever way they like and will record their feedback. After getting the feedback I did the require changes. Once the process of debugging and testing is done, I finalized my application for the final evaluation.

'Deepfake face swap' app ZAO is making people afraid of the future

The 'deepfake-style face swap app' ZAO has climbed to the top of Android and iPhone download charts in recent weeks. As its popularity grew, so have privacy concerns on Chinese social media, and now, beyond.
Here's how it works:
https://twitter.com/AllanXia/status/1168049059413643265
The sudden wide adoption of ZAO is an âintriguing development in a country where mass surveillance and facial recognition technology are prevalent,â writes Jake Newby at radiichina.com.

âSome social media platforms, including WeChat, have now started blocking ZAO videos,â Newby writes in an update to his story on Monday. âWeChat has done this before with popular rival short video apps.â
  The app â developed by Momo, the same company behind popular Chinese dating app Tantan â became an overnight sensation after it began circulating on Friday evening. Hashtags related to the app quickly became some of the hottest on microblogging site Weibo, while the app rocketed up the iOS download charts. Chinese social media feeds quickly became filled with ZAO-produced videos from friends and contacts for many users.
  The premise of the app is pretty simple: take a selfie and put yourself into your favorite movie or soap opera (chosen from a pre-selected list of clips). Cue users giving themselves starring roles in Leonardo DiCaprioâs filmography or uninvited guest appearances on Game of Thrones.
  Yet the initial buzz around the app quickly gave way to headlines about privacy concerns as reporters from several major tech publications in China actually bothered to read the 6,000 character user agreement required to download ZAO. One clause in particular is causing consternation as it appears to give the appâs developers the global rights to use any imagery created on the app for free. Once a user has opted in, there doesnât seem to be the right to revoke the agreement.
This story went viral pretty quickly, and ZAO âresponded to the above complaintsâ by amending the user agreement, writes Newby in another update to the Radii piece:
  The new agreement states that content generated on the app will now no longer be used for other purposes without the userâs prior consent. It also says that if a user deletes content on ZAO, this will be wiped from ZAOâs databases too, and injects a clause stating that users bear responsibility for having the authorization to use portraits in the app (thereby making the user culpable if someoneâs photo is used without their permission).

Would it actually be okay to request some headcanons with Simon, Ralph and Jerry/s (I really like soft boys) if they had an S/o who was deaf. :3c
Absolutely!! Iâve been trying to learn sign language in my spare time, but my primary teacher is youtubeâŠso itâs slow going. In any case!! I hope these are okay :)
Ralph
-Heâd be the most difficult to communicate with out of the three.
-Ralphie was a gardener. His social protocols before deviating were limited to basic street interactions, in case park-goers wanted to leave complaints or suggestions. And I think the damage to his face might have ruined his ability to connect to the internet or other databases, so his learning has to come manually.
-Your first meeting was probably uncomfortable, or even scary if it was before the Revolution. He doesnât understand right away that you canât hear him, or that any of your frantic signing isnât a threat. But it clicks for him before things get out of hand. (ba dum tss)
-Have you watched his hands in game? How his fingers stay curled together a lot? Another problem with his damage is that sometimes his fingers are stiff, or they stutter and twitch without any input. It makes quick signing a problem. It frustrates him terribly, to not be able to keep up with his flower, so sometimes he prefers drawing or physically writing to communicate. He, like other androids, has a personal contact number, so theoretically you could text with him. The effect is similar to Androidsâ wireless mental connectivity.
-But he likes signing!! Itâs organic, more natural for you. Just be patient with him, he honestly only wants to please you. Ralphâs unique way of speaking makes SEE easier for him to learn than ASL, and spelling is the easiest for him.
-He loves holding your hands!!! Sometimes he forgets you need them. Whoops!
Simon
-Knows SEE and ASL, as well as foreign sign language. If you read lips and prefer him to just speak to you, heâd be sure to always face you and emote with his words. He will communicate with you in whatever way is easiest for you. Itâs natural for him, so he never treats you any differently than he would any other person.
-No matter how good or bad your speaking is, heâs very good at understanding your vocalizations.Â
-This soft boy kisses your hands. All. the. time. All the time.
-Sometimes you put him in a trance, honestly. You can see the way his eyes glaze over while youâre telling him some story. He stops following your hands as much and just stares into your eyes with this cute smile. âOh! S-sorry, can you repeat that?â
-If you ever decide get implantsâespecially if they were designed by Cyberlifeâheâll ask for your permission to personally connect to them. Then he can speak to you like heâs right next to you, even from a great distance. Thereâs a part of him that thinks itâs very romantic.
Jerry(s)
-All the Jerrys come programmed with sign-language as well! Itâs not quite as advanced as what youâll find in personal assistance or business androids, but thatâs because these guys typically interacted with children. Still, they know enough to communicate with little trouble.
-They get to a point where they can anticipate what you want before you can even sign to them. It might startle you a little sometimes, but itâs nice to know they pay so much attention to you.
-Honestly, the only issue you might have is their tendency to talkâor signâover one another when they all get excited. Too many moving hands and mouths, all in your face, but their sunshiny, happy faces make it easy to forgive them. Theyâll try really hard to remember to take turns.
-On the other side of the coin, anytime you have anything to say youâve got all eyes on you. Theyâre so enraptured and you always get their undivided attention.
-Very vigilant in public. Especially if youâre dating a group of them! They know you can take care of yourself no problem, but they want to protect you from even the smallest things that might ruin your day.

Every QR code consists of a number of black squares and dots which represent certain pieces of information.
#Screenshot qr code reader online how to#
It is a machine-scannable image that can instantly be read using a Smartphone camera. Heres how to scan a QR code on Android without installing an app. Like any other barcode, a QR code is nothing more than a way to store information in a machine-readable optical label.īasically, a QR code works in the same way as a barcode at the supermarket. QR codes are square barcodes (two-dimensional barcodes) that were first developed and used in Japan. We recommend Google Zxing which uses the same QR recognition engine. The QR code term stands for Quick Response Code. In the search bar adjacent to the microphone, tap Google Lens Give the Google app permission to use the camera. When reading a code with a smartphone is not an option, online scanners come to the rescue. If it doesn't detect your code, move back and forth slightly 6. If the camera not opened go to the browser setting and allow the camera on this website 3.
After selecting the file, it will automatically decode and display the results First, you have to authorize our QR Code reader online to use your camera 2.
If you are using a mobile phone, just take a picture and upload it.
I dont know of any barcode scanner capable. The tool scans the code for a few seconds and produces a link in. your interface should have the camera on, full-screen, just like the screenshot below. How to use Open CodeTwo QR Code Desktop Reader and click the from file button to choose the QR code image. How can you write your own QR code scanner app with React Native. Read websites, contacts, messages, locations, phone numbers, e-mails, events. If the smart device is unable to connect to Nintendo Switch, try scanning. The app shows you prices and information about any product you scan and allows you to create your own QR codes. Using the camera on your smart device, scan the QR code displayed on Nintendo Switch.

QR BARCODE SCANNER or mentioned Google Goggles. It offers many useful features and can scan QR code from screenshots, webcams and even click boards. Download now QrScan reads all common QR and barcodes for you. Scan any QR code or barcode to get additional. Havind done that, there are several barcode scanners available in the playstore supporting 'loading' of barcodes from image files, as e.g. QR & Barcode Reader is a modern QR code scanner and barcode scanner with all the features you need. Uploading a QR code(image file) for decoding is a stable method As already described in above comments, this would require taking a screenshot and saving it as an image file.The camera function will be locked and crashed, In my experience, using camera on chrome browser by Android mobile will make a problem,.To do that, simply click From file on the top menu of the program and select the desired image from your hard drive. This is a good solution if you create QR codes regularly. I successfully tested this camera feature on chrome browser on PC, You can also select an image file that contains a QR Code and the program will locate it automatically and decode it. A third option for generating QR codes is a Chrome extension like QR Code Generator.After successfully scanning, the result will be displayed on the screen.If it not doesn't detect your code, move back and forth slightly.How to scan by image file Uploading your QR code image file. A QR scanner is simply a way to scan QR codes. This is an online QR code scanner that does not need to be installed, just open it and use it. than click "Start Scaning" button, you will see the video Most smartphones have built-in QR scanners, which are sometimes built in the camera.First, you have to authorize our webpage to use your camera.

Basement Demon
Hey there everyone! Itâs ya gurl Father Par Par! Luci suggested I post this short story of mine, so here I am! It has swearing, mentions of non-con experiments, and recreational drug use, so if youâre not into that, donât read it.Â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Penny rolled over in bed and opened Snapchat on her phone. It was ten in the morning and she already had four snapchats. Three were from her friends and one was from her mom, sent at midnight. She opened that one last. It was a long series of videos of the cats. Penny missed her cats dearly since sheâs been living in Detroit, and she loved getting pictures of them.
        But these videos were strange. The first one was a video of her black cat, Soske, sitting in front of the basement door on his hind legs, pawing at something in front of him. His eyes looked glazed over and his behavior was unlike anything Penny had ever seen. The caption said âCats are acting weird.â
        The next video was of Pennyâs white cat, Keko, who was stalking something by the basement door. With a quick pan, the video showed that the basement door was open but there was nothing there. Keko continued to stalk but then she stopped and her eyes lost focus and she stood up to do the same thing Soske did in the last video. The next video made Penny sit straight up in bed and her heart skip a beat. Soske was standing on his back legs again and he was pawing at the air and then he collapsed and started shaking on the floor. Pennyâs dad came into the video and scooped him up. The next video was of Soske in her dadâs arms, shaking and curled up close to him. The next snapchat from Pennyâs mom was a picture of the cats sleeping on the living room couch. The caption said, âCats are fine, that was weirdâŠâ
        It certainly was weird⊠But Penny didnât have time to dwell on it because she heard her brother come into the apartment and throw his keys.
        âPenny! Mikeâs waiting for us outside,â Adrian shouted. Mike was their other roommate, one of Adrianâs friends from high school.
        âWhere are we going?â Penny shouted back as she hurried to get dressed.
        âThereâs a garage sale a few blocks away,â he said.
        âOkay, Iâm ready,â Penny stuffed her phone in her pocket and pulled her hair into a quick ponytail as she ran out into the apartment. She followed her brother outside and hopped into Mikeâs van, which was waiting outside the building.
        âReady to go?â asked Mike.
        âYep,â said Penny, buckling her seatbelt, not trusting Mikeâs driving skills. They drove a few blocks down into the neighborhood with the old houses mixed with the newer houses. It was a pretty normal looking neighborhood, mostly filled with elderly people and college students. There were a few younger families in the newer houses. It looked like this weekend was the sub sale, since there were many garage sales scattered throughout the neighborhood. They drove past the ones that looked like a bunch of junk or the ones with all baby stuff. They stopped at one that looked big and had lots of interesting things out on the driveway.
        Penny hopped out of the van and ran to the interesting looking desk sitting out. She opened all the drawers and cupboards before moving onto the vintage Singer sewing machine next to it. The boys went into the garage and looked through the books and movies. Penny joined them but something caught her eye before she got the chance to browse the books. An old fashioned radio with a cassette player in the front was sitting on the electronics table next to a box full of cassette tapes.
        âDoes this work?â Penny asked the person sitting in a lawn chair just outside the garage.
        âYep, still works,â the woman said. âJust needs new batteries if you plan on using it. I used to carry that thing around back in the eighties.â
        âWhoaâŠhow much?â asked Penny, already searching through the tapes.
        âYou can have it for ten bucks,â she said.
        âHow about five?â
        âSeven.â
        âDeal.â
        Penny walked away from that garage sale carrying the radio and three tapes; the Best of the Bee Gees, Hall and Oates, and a blank tape without a case, smudged writing on the sticker.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
        âEveryone listen up!â Anabel shouted, trying to get her teamâs attention. She slammed her hands on the table for good measure. Her four teammates slowly quieted down and looked at her. They were sitting around the meeting table in their underground headquarters. The headquarters was small, but big enough for five bedrooms, two bathrooms, an armory, and a conjoined kitchen and meeting room. The five of them have been working on it since they were kids.
        âWe have a mission,â Anabel said. âA house in the Chesterfield suburbs has a demon living in their basement. The homeowners donât know yet, and Iâd like to keep it that way. But the problem is, they have cats.â
        âWhy is that a problem?â asked Jason.
        âThere are two beings that are most susceptible to being possessed by a demon,â Ava said, folding her hands on the table and glancing at Eli who sat across from her. âCats and Androids.â
        Eli stiffened. He had a feeling he knew what the plan was going to be and he didnât like it.
        âWhy is that, do we know?â asked Luke. His glowing blue eyes met Eliâs nervous yellow ones. Luke was born blind but he wore special contacts that allowed him to see. They were almost completely discreet except for the fact that they glowed icy blue. He often wore sunglasses out in public so that the blue glow wouldnât draw attention, just as Eli wore sunglasses in public to cover his yellow eyes. Â
        âWeâre not sure yet, but we believe that itâs because demons canât possess a human without permission. But androids arenât in their code of honor, so theyâre free real estate according to demons,â said Anabel.
        âThatâs stupid,â said Jason. âAndroids are people too. Just because they donât have a soul or whatever, no offense Eli, doesnât mean they shouldnât have the same rights.â
        âIf I may,â Eli interrupted. âI believe it is simply because we have easily changeable programming. For instance, I have programs that protect me from viruses and hackers, which could change my programming, but a demon isnât either of those things. To them, I am basically an empty, semi organic body that is, as Anabel said, free real estate.â
        âAnd why cats?â asked Luke.
        Anabel shrugged. âNo one knows.â
        Jason clapped his hands, making everyone startle. âWelp! Iâm ready for whatever happens on this mission. Letâs go capture a demon!â
        And that was that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Penny, Adrien and Mike were laying on the roof of the van, which was parked next to a corn field. They passed a blunt between them as the last few notes of the Hall and Oates tape played out on the radio, which sat next to Penny on the roof. Penny replaced it with the mysterious tape with the smudged writing.
        âAnything could be on here guys,â said Penny as she rewound it and prepared to play it.
        âIâm ready for anything,â Mike said, his voice sounding congested and slightly muffled as he held in the smoke. Penny pressed play and took the joint Mike handed her, white smoke curling from his mouth. There was no music that started up. Instead, there was just the sound of distant voices and other movement.
        âAlright Dr. Darling, now I have a few questions to ask you,â said the crackling voice of a man over the sound of rustling paper. âYou conducted illegal experiments on your assistant involving demon possession, did you not?â
        Penny looked at Mike and Adrien with wide eyes. They looked back at her with equally surprised expressions.
        âYes,â said a different man.
        âAnd your assistant is an android, correct?â
        âYes.â
        âAre you aware of the trial that took place last year confirming the citizenship and personhood of androids?â
        âYes.â
        âSo you knew that these experiments were unethical in nature and punishable by law.â
        âYes.â
        âDid you create your assistant?â
        âYes, I created Ben.â
        âIt says in your file that all of your research up until Ben has been about demons. Is it possible that you created your assistant to help you specifically in these types of experiments?â
        âYes, that was my intention.â
        âThat is nonconsensual and violates many-â
        âDetective, sorry to interrupt, but Ben is programmed to not have any emotions. Consent does not matter to him, he is simply programmed to do as I say. What about all the cats Iâve used before Ben? They are not able to consent, so is that considered unethical as well?â
        âYes, doctor, that is exactly what that means. If a person or animal is unable to consent, then it is unethical to conduct experiments on them regardless. Do you understand why you are being detained for the things youâve done.â
        âYes.â
        âAnd do you admit that your experiments were unethical and unprofessional?â
        âYes.â
        The tape ended there and there was nothing but staticy silence.
        âWhat the fuck?â Adrien mumbled.
        âYou found that at the garage sale?â asked Mike. Penny stared at the sky, still thinking about what she had just heard.
        âUh-huh.â
        Just then, Penny thought of the Snapchats she received that morning from her mom. The detective on the tape mentioned Dr. Darling using cats in his experiments. What if her cats were being possessed by a demon? Or a demon was trying to possess them? She sat up with new energy, feeling the need to go back to her parentâs house to check on her cats.
        âMike, take me back to the apartment building. I need to drive home.â
        The boys followed Penny off the roof of the car.
        âWhy?â
        âI need to save my cats.â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        âIâm the bait, arenât I?â asked Eli, cocking his head to the side slightly.
        âI mean, we didnât want to come right out and say itâŠâ Jason said. âWe didnât want you to panic or anything.â
        âWe didnât want to hurt your feelings by putting you out there like that,â said Luke.
        Ava chuckled and shook her head.
        âYou both know that I have no feelings to hurt,â Eli said. âI do not mind. Iâm willing to be of assistance in any way I can.â
        âThatâs the spirit!â Jason shouted. The four of them were driving to Chesterfield, preparing to attend a big party at the house they were targeting.
        âLetâs go over the plan once more,â said Ava, still giggling. âWe are going to attend this party and act like the other party goers. So just act like normal, like youâre regular people attending a party. Eli will hopefully draw the demon out and then we can capture it. The goal is to be discreet and quick. We need to get out of there as fast as possible.â
        âWonât this be kind of unsafe with all those people there?â Luke asked.
        âI donât think we need to worry about that,â said Ava. âBesides, most demons arenât visible to the human eye, so weâll just keep an eye on Eli and wait for the signs.â
        As they entered the neighborhood, they could see the party from all the way down the block. Cars lined the street on both sides and people streamed into the house they were looking for. The party already looked like it was hoppinâ and it was only seven oâclock. Jason navigated through the street and found a spot to park. Eli and Luke put on their sunglasses before they got out of the car. As they walked to the house, Luke nudged Eli and tapped his sunglasses.
        âTwinsies,â he grinned. Eli just started at him. Luke cleared his throat and looked forward. When they entered the house, they saw that the party was mainly going on in the basement. The stairs going down to the basement were converted into a train ride. There was a track that looped around at the top where people piled into the cars and then the conductor, a middle aged man in a stripped conductors outfit, used the controls to make the train slowly go back down the other side of the tracks.
        There was a long line of partiers waiting to go downstairs and the four demon hunters got in line. They stood behind three giggling women who wore short dresses and a bunch of leis and beads around their necks. They were clearly drunk. The three women shared a car on the train, the conductor having to help them on. The four hunters got into a car behind them, squeezing in tight, not wanting to get separated by these drunk party goers.
        As they disembarked the train at the bottom, Eli tried his hardest to focus and keep his eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. The drunk women were still nearby. Eliâs concentration was broken as someone shoved past him and smacked one of the girlâs butts. She shrieked and turned around, her drink spilling on the guy and her friends laughing hysterically. Eli turned away from the scene and tried to find his friends. They had already disappeared into the thick crowd.
        As Eli wandered the party looking for his friends, he noticed three things. First, the basement, before it was wrecked by the mess of a rager such as this, was a very nice basement. It was huge and nicely finished. There was an entertainment center and pool table off to one side, a sitting room, a spacious floor, old arcade games lining the back wall and a full bar on the other side.
        Second, the people here werenât particularly drunk and awful. It was simply the fact that there were so many of them and most of them seemed to be inebriated in some way. Not to mention the empty cans and bottles all over the floor and the raggedy streamers hanging over almost everything.
        And thirdly, Eli realized that he was becoming paranoid and anxious. He didnât realize that he was capable of experiencing such things, but the way his hands were shaking and the fact that he jumped every time he saw a flash of red told him otherwise. More than once, he thought he saw someone staring at him through the crowd wearing a red demon mask. But when he looked, they would disappear. It was putting him on edge. So it wasnât a surprise that he jumped and spun around when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
        âWhoa, itâs only me,â said Luke. âYou okay?â
        âOf course.â
        âIâm glad I found you,â said Luke. âI canât find Jason and Ava.â
        âI think this crowd is affecting my ability to focus,â said Eli. He saw Luke glance down at his hands, so he shoved them into his pockets to keep them from shaking.
        âOkay, weâre almost done here. Weâll get out of here as soon as possible. Do you want to leave? Iâm pretty sure weâd be able to handle ourselves without you,â said Luke, putting a hand on his friendâs shoulder.
        âNo, I am fine. I donât see how leaving would make any difference. Letâs find Jason and Ava,â said Eli.
        The pair pushed through the crowd trying to locate their friends. They spotted them over by the bar, where they were talking to a shirtless guy who was sloshing his drink all over the place. He wore a lei and sunglasses that were sliding off his face. Eli watched as the guy reached over and touched Avaâs hair. She gently pushed his hand away and shook her head. Luke and Eli approached and Avaâs face lit up.
        âThere you are! We were so worried about you!â she said.
        âHey! There you are! You two wandered off without us!â said Jason. âHaving fun just the two of you I see.â
        âJason, please focus,â said Ava. She smiled at the man who was still leaning on the bar, trying to get closer to her. The man looked at the two newcomers and lit up.
        âHey! Twinsies!â he reached out and touched the lenses of Lukeâs sunglasses, making him flinch and recoil. The manâs fingers left a grease streak on the lens.
        âIâm sorry for cutting this short but this has been a very unpleasant conversation and weâre leaving now,â said Ava.
        The boys followed Ava as she left the bar and walked to the back where the arcade games provided a bright glow.
        âAvaaa, first kill of the night, huh?â said Jason. Ava smiled and rolled her eyes.
        âPlease, that guy was asking for it,â she said. She looked over to Luke and Eli. Luke had taken off his glasses to wipe the lens with his shirt. âAny luck finding anything you two?â
        âNo luck,â said Luke, putting his shades back on.
        âI did see somethingâŠâ Eli said, pausing to figure out how to say this. âAt least, I think I saw something. On many occasions, I thought I saw a man staring at me through the crowd. He was wearing a red demon mask but every time I looked for him, he would disappear. Perhaps Iâm having some sort of malfunction.â
        âYou arenât,â said Jason, staring at something over his shoulder. Eli turned around to follow his friendâs gaze and saw the man in the mask. He stood ominously still as the throng of partygoers flowed around him. Someone passed in front of him and then he was gone. Further into the crowd, somewhere the four hunters couldnât see, a scream erupted, followed by more screams and a rush of people.
        âNowâs our chance!â said Luke. The four of them pushed through the crowd, which was becoming thicker as everyone ran to the train. The conductor was evacuating people. Four or five people were piling into each car and the little train was having trouble staying on the tracks.
        Eli looked away for one second and he lost track of his friends. They must have been swept away by the crowd. Eli had to try his hardest to not be swept away himself as he pushed his way to where the scream came from.
        Luke, Ava and Jason found themselves at the top of the stairs, the thick crowd of people pushing them back.
        âEli is still down there!â said Jason.
        âLet us back down our friend is down there!â Ava said, trying to get past the conductor. But the man wouldnât let them pass. He pushed them away and held the controller out of reach.
        âNo one goes down there! It ainât safe!â he shouted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Penny passed the cars that lined her street and parked in her driveway. The lights were on inside and she could hear quite the commotion. It didnât sound like a party, it sounded like chaos. She pushed through her front door and immediately searched for her cats. She found them in her parentâs room, hiding from the crowds of people. They looked fine so Penny hugged both of them then went out to find the demon. She figured it would be in the basement. The only problem was that people were pouring out of the basement and there seemed to be a bit of a scuffle at the top of the stairs. Penny pushed her way through and got to the top of the train. The conductor was pushing three people out of the way who seemed to be trying to get back on the train.
        âLet me down there! I need to kill the demon that tried to hurt my cats!â she told the conductor.
        âNo one goes down there!â said the conductor. He shoved Penny back. âEveryone has been evacuated and itâs not safe to go down there.â
        âThis is my house! Let me down there!â Penny yelled, trying to force her way past him to grab the controller. He shoved her back and she stumbled, falling backwards into the crowd. How dare he put his hands on me, she thought. Whoever caught her when she fell back, pushed her back up. She used that momentum to surge forward and punch the conductor in the face. The crowd Oooh-ed. Penny used the opportunity to snatch the controller from the conductors hand and hop into the train. She drove the train down the tracks and into the basement. The basement was eerily quiet. There was no more music and it was dark save for the flashing party lights and the glow from the arcade games.
        Penny dropped the controller into the train car she was in and got out. She heard a scuffle coming from the entertainment center. She ran to where she heard the noise and saw two people. One was a man with pale skin and dark hair. He was on the ground, a pair of broken sunglasses on the ground beside him. Standing over him was another man. This one was tall and wore all black except for the red demon mask covering his face. There was an aura about him that sent chills of panic down Pennyâs spine. She ignored it and stepped forward.
        âHey!â she shouted, causing both men to look at her. The man on the ground had yellow eyes, telling Penny that he was an android. The demon only had two black voids where his eyes should have been behind the mask. âGet away from him, itâs me you want!â
        âAnd who are you?â a disembodied voice said. It sounded suspiciously smooth and normal.
        âIâm Penny, and you tried to possess my cats,â she said. âNo one messes with my cats!â
        âIs that so?â the demon stepped over the man on the ground and approached Penny. Penny felt a jolt of uncertainty run through her, but then she thought of her cats and the disturbing Snapchats from that morning. She stood her ground, glaring at the demon, not having a plan in case she was overpowered, which was more likely than not.
        The demon walked right up to her and crowded into her space. Penny could faintly see eyes through the holes in the mask but otherwise, there was no sign of him being a human. No breath, no footsteps, he was silent. Penny clenched her fists and decided to do what she had just done with the conductor at the top of the stairs. She punched the demon in the face with all her might. Â
        Penny gasped as she heard her hand crack against the demonâs unmoving face. Pain shot up through her arm. The demon grabbed her shoulders and brought his face closer, tilting his head as if he were going in for a kiss. Penny knew that a kiss from him would mean bad things.
        Before he could get any closer, something sounding like glass shattered over his head. His head turned all the way around. Behind the demon stood the android, the broken neck of a wine bottle in his hands. The android dropped the bottle neck and grabbed the demonâs face with both hands. In one swift motion, he pulled the demon off of Penny and flung him across the room. The demon hit the wall across the room and slid down to the ground.
        âAre you alright?â the android asked, approaching Penny who was staring wide eyed at the demon who was slowly getting back up.
        âYes. Letâs kill this thing,â Penny growled, quickly getting over her shock.
        âAgreed. I am Eli,â he said.
        âPenny. How do you kill a demon?â she asked.
        âWe need to trap it and then banish it,â said Eli. âThey are immortal beings, they cannot be killed.â
        âRight. Is banishing it a permanent solution?â
        âYes.â
        âLetâs do it.â
        Penny and Eli stalked around both side of the demon. The demonâs head snapped between the two of them before settling on Eli. He lunged and tackled Eli to the ground. Eli struggled under him and the demon began his descent. Penny took the opportunity to run at the demon and kick it in the face with all her strength. He stumbled back, falling off of Eli. Eli jumped to his feet and grabbed the demon by the collar. He slammed the creature against the wall, leaving a dent.
        âPenny, make a circle on the floor!â he said. Penny scrambled to find something to make a circle with. Then she saw the streamers hanging over everything. As she began gathering streamers, the demon kicked Eli square in the chest, making him fly back and crash through the wall into the bathroom. Eli pushed the pieces of ceramic from the destroyed toilet off of him and charged through the hole in the wall. He tried to get a hold on the demon as Penny laid the streamers on the ground in a circle.
        âIâm ready!â said Penny.
        âHelp me get him into the circle!â Eli said, struggling with the demon. Penny ran to the scuffle and kicked the demon in the groin. It didnât seem to have the effect she was hoping for but he still doubled over, giving the two of them the advantage. But as Eli tried to grapple him, he pushed the android out of the way and grabbed Penny around the neck with both hands, lifting her off the ground.
        âEnough is enough! I will not be defeated by a little girl and her bag of gears!â the disembodied voice filled the basement. Penny struggled to gasp for breath and claw at his hands around her neck. Her feet kicked and she could feel her windpipe being crushed. A wire wrapped around the demonâs throat. Eli, who was holding the wire, pulled the demon back, making him stumble into the circle, where Eli yanked the demon to the ground, making him release his hold on Penny. Penny fell to the ground and pushed herself away from the monster.
        Before the demon could do anything else, Eli lit a match and flicked it into the circle of streamers. The circle and the demon burst into flames. The demon seemed to sink into the ground, screaming and writhing. But the fire kept going.
        âWe need to go,â said Eli, pulling Penny to her feet and leading her to the train.
        âWe need to put that fire out!â said Penny.
        âItâs hellfire, water wonât do anything. It will go out on its own, it wonât destroy anything. But we need to leave before it consumes us,â said Eli. The two of them ran to the train and they got into one of the cars. Penny fiddled with the controller but the train wouldnât move.
        âWhatâs wrong with it?â Penny yelled, feeling the heat from the fire get more intense.
        âItâs steam powered. Itâs out of water,â said Eli. âIt looks like water can just be dumped into the engine up there.â
        âThe fish tank!â Penny shouted, pointing to the glowing fish tank across the room. âIf we can get to itâŠâ
        âThere are no life forms in there, right?â
        âNo. We havenât had fish in there in years.â
        Eli took off across the room, running past the flames which seemed to reach for him. He lifted the tank and hurried back to the train, the water sloshing out of the top. He got to the train and Penny tried to help him dump it over the engine. Steam poured out of the train engine and the machinery inside hissed and rumbled to life. Eli jumped into the car with Penny and they rode to the top of the stairs. The crowd of party goers cheered when they saw the train crest the stairs. Penny and Eli hopped out of the train car. Eli was immediately enclosed in a hug from three people at the front of the crowd. They fussed over him as the conductor angrily took the controller from Penny. She let him have it.
        âEli,â she called. Eli and his three friends looked at her. âThanks for helping me down there. I couldnât have done it without you.â
        âAnd I would not have survived if you hadnât stepped in,â said Eli. The woman next to him with dark curls cascading down her back wrote something down on a slip of paper and handed it to Penny. It was a phone number.
        âKeep in touch with us, will you?â she said. âMy name is Ava. Thank you for helping my friend.â
        âAnytime Ava,â said Penny. âI have a feeling you four werenât here for the party.â
        âCall me and Iâll explain everything,â she said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Penny wandered down to her basement the next morning, her hand wrapped tightly. The party had dispersed long ago. Everyone left shortly after they defeated the demon. That night, after everyone left, Penny had called Ava and she explained that her and her friends were part of a demon hunting club. They were still learning their trade, but they could use someone as spunky as Penny. She told Ava she would think about it.
        The thought of defending cats everywhere appealed to her. She knew she would call back.
        Penny passed the burned spot in the carpet and looked past it to see the big hole in the wall and the destroyed bathroom within. She wandered to the bar and kitchenette. There were streamers and empty cans and pizza boxes everywhere. A garbage bag overflowing with paper plates and solo cups sat against the cupboard. Dishes filled the sink.
        But most importantly, her cats joined her downstairs, finally feeling safe from the demon that had lived down there. She hugged her cats, knowing that she not only avenged their honor, she also potentially saved their very lives. She then thought of all the other cats who were susceptible to being possessed by demons.
        She would definitely call Ava back.
        As she continued to ruminate over this, a flash of red flew past behind herâŠ
