Summary: A party to relieve stress is quite needed but... games are also needed aren’t they?
~~~
Your eyes scanned the party for some worthy individuals of your personal interest. Anyone down for some fun. Anyone not too drunk like Yue Yue and his girlfriend, Xianfen, were right now, dancing wildly against each other.
Xiao Gui often threw parties like this even in the middle of the year. And you were often down for some high school fun. His parties were known for unusual events. Like how Justin Huang, your good friend often made smaller fireworks even if it wasn’t needed, because he would then accidentaly burn something and the events would unfold with everyone dancing around the fire not caring that it could burn them as well, too intoxicated to care to be honest.
You finally saw the person you knew the best at this party. You stood up from your spot on the couch, beer in hand and sqeezing past everyone dancing, you intentionally disturbed the drunk couple.
“Sorry!” You shouted loudly over the bass of the music. You didn’t mean it. “Justin! What are you up to?”
Justin heard you without even trying too hard. Parties were boring to him that’s why he usually made them better for his entertainment so his thoughts were easily distracted.
“Bored out of my wits! There is no good girls here, the only one being Xianfen but she’s taken of course.” He glanced at the said female and her partner making out and obviously grinding at each other in the middle of the living room, where the party was mainly going on. Your eyes followed to the couple in mind and you smiled at yourself.
“They’re so dumb honestly. If they don’t end up having sex on the couch or the kitchen counter by the end of this party something is off with their usual selves then.” Justin laughed at your comment knowing all too well the couple’s actions on the previous parties.
“True. Hey Y/n, how ‘bout we spice this party up for ourselves a bit? Whoever does at least anything more than that,” he pointed to Yue Yue and Xianfen doing the same as before – for now, “by the end of this poor excuse of a party wins 400 yuan. How about that?” you drank a sip of your beer, mulling over his offer of this personal fun. Finally seeing that your wallet could handle losing or winning 400 yuan you accepted his offer. “Good. Then it’s settled. Two people separately are worth one point each. More people together are worth the square of the number. Got it?” Hmm… it was interesting of course. And entertaining too.
“Deal. Prepare the 400 yuan. And remember the ‘victims’ of the night.” Justin just smiled at your little threat. He gave you a sly wink and left into the sea of high schoolers. You knew him too well so you knew what that wink meant.
‘You know I’ll be the one receiving the cash.’
Game on.
-
Going straight to the kitchen to pour another drink or two you immediately noticed two guys there. Two guys you recognised. Two guys who would hopefully be down to some freaky fun time. But the two guys you would also avoid.
Cai Xukun and Wang Ziyi.
You get closer carefully, knowing what the guys are like.
Wang Ziyi is what you’d call the ‘king’* of the high school. The only people not obeying him were the principal and maybe 3 professors or maybe even less. Everyone feared him for the vibe he gave off. Tattoos painting his skin and a piercing on his lip, that he often rolls between his teeth, the metal in his upper ear lobes just a cherry on top to his fearful look. But his black slicked hair gave him a different energy. The one that would pull you closer, rather than make you turn the other way around.
Cai Xukun looked less dangerous with only two or three earrings, but the power his family’s money held was unspeakable. He too was a bit feared but not as much as Ziyi was. Xukun was friendly and rather approached people than wait for them to approach him since he knew what they thought of him. A rich and powerful kid. He looked less terrifying, but he did keep a ‘resting bitch face’ most of the time, that’s why everyone thought he hated them, so they avoided him for it. On the contrary people said he was really nice.
You didn’t know the boys noticed you but they did.
“And what is a lady like you doing here?” You instantly freeze at Ziyi’s voice, not used to talking to you. Despite you being known as a girl with elite class, style and a certain attitude you were by no means someone that would hang out with them knowing that at least Ziyi could mean danger.
“I’m… just here to get some drinks. Have some fun… then leave I guess.” Your trembling voice actually reached his ears and he nodded knowingly.
“Wanna join us?”
To be honest you weren’t up for that. If they were anything like people said Ziyi could easily beat you up and Xukun… well he’d do you no harm but safety’s first.
“Thanks for the offer. I have to find my friend.” After saying that you rushed out the kitchen and back into the living room.
Disappearing into the crowd of people with two drinks in hand you didn’t notice they kept on watching you and followed you there. It was their little hunt too. A deer hiding from its hunter. To them it was a game.
Dancing in the crowd you felt hands snake around your shoulders.
“Y/n! I’m glad you could make it!” The petite man that hosted this party was another good friend of yours so you knew it was him immediately.
“Gui! Yea of course I’d come. I need this in my life and you know it.” Xiao Gui let go of the friendly hug and started dancing with you. “Hiding from Bu Fan?”
The guy abruptly nodded, grabbed one of the cups in your hand and drank it one go, casually throwing the now empty cup on the floor, letting other people smash it as they sway their bodies to the music.
“Oh yeah. That man is searching everywhere for me ‘cause I made him lose a game of beer pong and wants to beat me up for it.” You laughed because you knew how the latter man was. A tall giant, that appears dangerous, but in reality is the friendliest, most playful man alive.
Talking about the man, his tall figure appeared from the doorway to another room, eyes searching for the smaller man.
“Xiao Gui you little snake! Come here!”
Hearing his voice, Gui picked up his pace and ran away from him to hide. As they went past you, Bu Fan chasing Gui, you noticed that two pairs of eyes were on you. Looking in that direction you saw the two men, who you ran into in the kitchen, your tank top and ripped jean shorts suddenly became too revealing.
They were both watching you with the same kind of aura that pulled you to them more than chased you away.
Well I could get 4 points with this.
With that thought in your head, you decided to tease them, starting dancing as sexily as you could. Letting their eyes linger on your body, you sent them many seductive looks, a lip bite here and there. The alcohol in your system gave you the courage to even touch some parts of yourself, while looking straight at them.
Xukun didn’t worry about hiding his liking. His eyes were scanning your body as he was tugging at his bottom lip. Ziyi on the other hand was just lazily smirking, hoping that you would make him more entertained than this.
As if reading his mind you made your way to them, making sure to tease them on the way there as well.
“I think I’ll accept that offer if it still stands.” You say immediately when you near them. Ziyi just smirks and chuckles a bit.
“Oh not the only thing standing right now baby.” His sudden confession bloomed some pride in your chest, which connected directly to the wanting ache in your core. Your botttom lip got  tugged by your teeth as you quickly glanced at the noticable buldge in his tracksuit. Paying attention to Ziyi you didn’t notice hands on your waist and something probably equally hard pressed against your lower back.
“Why don’t you make up for the mess you caused then huh?” His voice sent shivers down your spine and a bite at your earlobe made you curve your ass towards him.
“I- I could do that. If you’d like me to.”
Rubbing against him Xukun let out a low hiss at the friction. He grabbed your chin and tilted your head to him, giving you a sloppy kiss exploring your mouth. He smelled a bit of alcohol but it didn’t bother you too much since you knew you probably did too.
At the view Ziyi didn’t waste any time. He pushed himself off the wall he was leaning on, grabbed your face, turning you to him as soon as the kiss with Xukun ended.
He took his time with that and explored your mouth, rubbing himself against your lower front to get himself off a bit. You moaned in his mouth even though you were highly aware that people could still hear but you couldn’t care less.
“Let’s check if any of the rooms are free. Please.” You begged when he broke the kiss. The guys looked at each other and smirked.
“Yeah. Let’s do that.”
-
As soon as the three of you entered the nearest empty room Ziyi undid your shorts, lowering to your neck to leave his marks. Xukun rather took off his own clothes and later your top to leave you in your black lace underwear.
“Fuck she’s so hot, Ziyi take a look at her.” One of his hands snaked from behind you, kneading your breasts while the other rested on your waist pulling your body to his, allowing him to kiss your neck and shoulders. The wetness that started pooling in your panties ever since you started making out with them in the middle of the whole party was now almost soaking through.
The more Xukun kneaded your breast the louder your moans became and you could see how it affected them both.
“Fuck. Kun bring her over to the bed. I can’t wait any longer.” Ziyi was rubbing himself over his boxers before you were guided to the bed.
As you sat down Xukun kissed you again, moving downwards after it, unclasping your bra at the same time. As he let it fall to the sheets he massaged the flesh of your right boob while sucking on the hardened nipple of the left one.
In the meantime Ziyi moved from his spot on the edge of the bed to between your legs, spreading them apart. He started rubbing your thighs while kissing and biting right next to your wanting core.
“Ziyi… please stop teasing. Just do it.” At that Ziyi looked up at you with lust-filled eyes, raising a brow.
To give you what you wanted he rubbed your clit through your panties making you moan loudly and as on que Xukun bit down on your boob and the moan changes to a scream of pleasure.
Ziyi removed your panties to reveal your wanting pussy for him.
“She’s dripping. How ‘bout we take care of that Kun?” Xukun released your nipple with a pop and gave it one last lick before answering.
“You take care of that I have my problem I want her to take care of.” Xukun didn’t even bother with Ziyi he just gave you one of the dirtiest looks that made you do whatever he wanted. You looked down to his crotch to see his dick outlined by his boxers, underwear stained by the leaking precum.
At his friends statement Ziyi just nodded and dove right down between your legs as if he would be eating his very last meal.
You started moaning out of pleasure and threw your head back. Xukun grabbed a fistful of your hair to lift your head and you noticed he put his boxers down, setting his dick free. It was long and thick, making you question how you would even fit it in your mouth.
Supporting yourself on one hand you grabbed Xukun’s dick with the other putting it in your mouth. Ziyi’s tongue explored your pussy, entering it in and out at a tourturous pace at the moment. He sped up for a bit giving you intense pleasure and you moaned around Xukun’s member as he thrusted in your mouth. The vibrations from your throat went straight to him in your mouth and he released a sinful moan on enjoyment.
Ziyi added a finger inside you making moan again and Xukun pushed himself deep enough so that he was all inside your mouth. The sensation was too much for your throat and you moaned again sending yet another wave of pleasure to him.
Xukun didn’t even bother going slow. He was hitting the back of your throat as fast as he could, but without making you gag. At the same time Ziyi was hitting your own spot over and over again, while you answered to his pleasing with muffled moans and occasional whines.
It was only a few more hits to your spot that made you moan louder than before wanting to tell them that you’re close.
“Hold on baby. Just a bit more. Fuck I’m close too.” He was getting sloppy due to his approaching orgasm. But he still couldn’t catch up with the orgasm Ziyi was giving you.
It hit all of a sudden. Your eyes were rolling to the back of your head, moans escaping you as the whiteness in your vision dissipated. In what felt like just another second Xukun’s white strings were sprung all over your face, offering him the beautiful sight of you coded with his cum as he took some of it from your cheeks with his finger and put it in your mouth as you subconsciously licked it off.
As soon as you came back to your senses both boys were lapping their tongues at your lower parts drinking up your orgasm themselves. Seeing that it made you even more ready for the next round, whatever they might decide it would be.
Ziyi just tapped Xukun’s shoulder and the younger boy gave him space. He put his own boxers down now as well rolling a condom on himself. Pushing you down on the mattress he dived straight for your collarbones, biting and nipping at all the sking his mouth could get in contact with.
His cock entering you caused a sting in your abdomen, still sensitive from your last orgasm. At that you let out a little yelp and to shut you up Xukun decided to kiss you.
You responded to his kiss and moaned in his mouth as Ziyi started thrusting in you with full force. After a while he just sped up, still going on with the same brute force making you think he might split you in half.  For exstra pleasure Xukun put his hand between your bodies and started rubbing your clit at the same pace Ziyi was thrusting in you.
“F- fuck I’m close.” Ziyi muttered to the both of you, grabbing under your thigh and putting it around his waist to hit you from another angle. At that you moaned in Xukun’s mouth exploring yours trying to let them both know you’re close again too.
Xukun got the hint and started rubbing you at a faster pace, stimulating your clit into a faster orgasm.
This one was even harder than the first one, making you almost scream in Xukun’s mouth and losing all power you possibly had left.
As Ziyi spilled into the condom he gently put your leg from around his waist, on the bed where you laid and discarded of the condom. Xukun ran his hand over your body, cupping your cheek and gently kissing your forehead.
“Thank you so much for this Y/n. It was really fun.” At that you smiled fondly at him.
People were just afraid of their power. Otherwise they’re both really nice.
All three of you climbed under the duvet, knowing Xiao Gui wouldn’t mind if you slept over. Xukun and Ziyi were both close to you no matter that it was probably just a one-time thing.
You’ll just have to see how this will unfold next morning.
.....
You sat at the cafeteria with the boys and they introduce themselves to you.
“So you two aren’t related right?” Lin Kai asked.
“No!” both you and Xu Kun answered in unison.
“Hao Hao~!!” a familiar voice calls out to Justin it seems.
“Oh God, it’s her again.” Cheng Cheng stated in agony.
“What’s she doing here?” the annoying girl asks, pointing at you.
“I belong here.” you answer without shame.
“We invited her obviously.” Yan Jun added.
It was at this moment that you decide to continue beeing cheeky, so you stand up and say, “By the way, we haven’t really met, have we? I’m Cai Y/N.” You extend an arm to shake hands with her. Surprisingly she does shake hands with you, her grip, however, tightening with every shake. “Just because you have the same family name as Kun Kun doesn’t mean you’re anyhow close to him.” one of her underlings say from the side. “Oh, I don’t know. Whether or not I’m close to any of these guys, it’s up to them you know? Not me.” you say, tightening your grip as well. She finally can’t handle the strength you were exerting and let’s go. “Hmph, let’s go girls.”
“Woah, that was so different from how you were before.” Li Nong stated. “I’ve learnt to deal with girls like those.” you continued to eat your lunch after replying him. The entire lunch break consisted of you teasing Xu Kun and Justin about their ‘top tier fangirls’.
A few weeks pass by and nothing much happens. Just the usual routine of going to school, lunch with the boys, working at the cafe, the boys still going to the cafe as much as they can. Oh! They’ve added you into their group chat, so a lot of interesting conversations unfold I guess.
It’s another day and as always, you walk to the cafe with the boys after school. This time though, you were stopped in front of the school by a limo and a man dressed very formally. “Miss Cai.” he bowed. “Your parents request that you return home early today.” he says with an unchanging facial expression. “Y/N do you know this guy?” Zheng Ting asks. “Unfortunately, yes. I’m afraid you guys will have to head off without me.” you say walking towards the open limo door. “I’ll text you guys later.” you flash a smile at them before getting into the expensive vehicle.
They watched as the vehicle left. “She didn’t seem too happy.” Justin pointed out. “Come to think of it, she never talks about her family.” Zheng Ting adds. “She never really talks about herself at all doesn’t she?” Cheng Cheng adds again. “Oh shit, you’re right.” Lin Kai comes to realization. “Watch your words!” Zheng Ting scolds. “We never really ask about her either.” Zi Yi says.
They all just stand around for a moment looking at each other as they have come to realize that they know literally nothing about you.
Music to My Ears
————
Pairing: Ziyi X Reader
Genre: Soft and Sweet
Summary:
You’re a well known music producer and one member of Nine Percent catches your eye
——
Tumblr media
The sound of multiple voices inside your studio could be heard. You hesitated when you got to the door but decided to shake off your nerves. You are a professional. The moment the door opened the voices stopped. You stepped inside only to hear the voices erupt in screams.
“Holy shit!”
“Oh my god, it’s Y/N!”
You giggled making the nine men swoon. “Hello, I’m Y/N L/N and I am going to be the music producer for your debut album! It’s a pleasure to work with you.” You smiled at them, each one of them holding a different air of confidence. One member caught your eye, you recognized him as Ziyi. You quickly averted your gaze to another boy who spoke with a slight accent.
“Who have you worked with in the past?”
You smiled warmly and sat down, gesturing for them to relax. “I’ve worked with many famous artists around the world! I’ve produced OST’s for a few of Fan BingBing’s movies. I’ve worked with plenty of western artists and groups here in China.” They were taken aback by who you had worked with. They kept asking questions left and right except for Ziyi who remained quiet and watched.
“I’d love to answer all of your questions but I do have a job to do. Now, I want all of you to tell me what you would like the concept of the song to be,” multiple mouths opened but you raised your hand to silence them. “One at a time please.” After half an hour of debating, everyone had agreed on a concept. Something powerful but catchy. “Thank you, I’ll get right to work so that means that sadly, you all have to leave.” You pouted, the boys erupting into squeals from your cute expression. Ziyi felt his heart flutter, he already had a crush on you.
***
You hadn’t left your studio unless needed, slaving over the tracks. Deleting bars that sounded off, adding reverb to different notes. You were almost done with the first song of the album, but it was missing something, it was missing background vocals. You thought about how each boy’s voice sounded, the only one that would work was Ziyi.
When you texted him to come to your studio, he was panicked. He was nervous, nervous to be alone with someone that made his cheeks flush, his heart speed up, and caused him to turn into a stuttering mess. He’s Wang Ziyi, he is always cool except for when he’s with you. Ziyi was no longer a trainee, he is an idol, he has to stay calm.
“Thank god you’re here. I thought you got lost. Please come in!” You ushered the older male inside the room. You plopped into your chair and patted the one next to yours. “I need back up vocals and sounds. Your voice is the only one that will fit so I need you to follow the lyrics on the paper,” You gestured to the paper. “This is the track I got so far, the vocals will be behind your rap and during the mix of the chorus.” You explained, your eyes watching him nod. You played the track, proud of what you had created so far.
Ziyi bobbed his head along to the beat absentmindedly as he read over what he had to do. It seemed to capture all points of what the members wanted. He could see why you were known worldwide. As the song came to a close, Ziyi smiled at you, your heart beating rapidly as you smiled back. “It’s great. It’s what the members wanted it to be. So how am I supposed to do this?” You nodded as a silent thank you and demonstrated how they were supposed to sound. You attempted your deepest voice to mimic how it was supposed to sound but the two of you fell into a fit of giggles.
It was an easy recording. Ziyi followed every advice and critique you gave him with complaint. The studio was filled with laughter and fun moments, it was the most you had laughed in days. Ziyi watched you add in this vocals to the song, his heart swelling at the sight of your concentrated face. “And finally we are done!” You cheered, it had taken a few hours but it was worth it. You leaned back in your chair and sighed. You became close to the taller male while you worked with him but it was sad that he had to leave.
“Do you want to get some coffee?” You looked at him, shocked. A blush covered his cheeks and he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
“Is it a date?”
“Only if you want it to be…”
“That’s music to my ears. Of course I’ll say yes.”
You Already Know: Show Your Love (YMM x Reader) Alt Ending
Tumblr media
Word Count: 8.1k
Warnings: nothing much, just like, towards the end it gets a lil steamed but only a lil bit.  if you want to avoid that, skip the part where it starts with pulling into the parking lot up until the knife cold wind
You wake up to the sound of rain falling on the window.  Looking around, you notice the room was much dimmer than when you had fallen asleep.  Reaching for your phone to check the time, you hear the low murmur of voices in the other room.  You squint at the brightness from your phone’s screen and see you still have a little over a half hour before your alarm was set to go off.  Ugh, of course...  You drop your phone to the bed and were about to go back to sleep when you hear what sounds like your name.  You half sit-up in interest, the sleep that you were about to finish leaving your mind.
You slide out of the bed and creep towards the door, careful to be quiet.  Yes, you know eavesdropping is bad and you’ve rolled your eyes when you read or watch something where this situation happens, but god, it’s different when it’s you in the situation.  You pull open the door, light from the living room barely making it to your feet, and listen.
“…I just don’t understand,” Linong says, sounding slightly frustrated.  “Why can’t you tell them?”
“He’s worried, bro,” Ziyi says plainly and you hear a glass being set down.  Ziyi and his protein drinks, you think wryly to yourself.
“Okay,” Linong starts again, sounding like he was restraining himself from rolling his eyes, “but it’s not as if YN would turn you down?”  Turn him down for what?
“Yes, they would.”  You hear Xukun’s voice for the first time in the conversation.  He sounded like someone had just stepped on his white shoes after jumping in mud.
“You look like someone just stepped on your white shoes after jumping in mud,” Linong says bluntly.  Perhaps you needed to stop hanging out with Nongnong so much.
You assume that Xukun made a face based off of the light choking noises Ziyi was making.
After they checked on Ziyi, the conversation resumed.  “You should tell them,” he says, his voice still a little rough.
“I can’t.”
“Xukun, why can’t you?”  Linong asks, definitely upset at this point.  Your eyebrows rose.  You’ve never heard sweet and lovely Chen Linong ever sound this upset, even when Professor Li in your vocal class last semester told him that the song he had chosen for the end of semester showcase was better suited to Hanyu, and then proceeded to give said song to Hanyu.
“Because…because they have Mingming now,” Xukun sounded so defeated.
I “have Mingming now”..?  What does mean? You thought to yourself, your brows furrowing.  You refused to hear anymore, suddenly uncomfortable with listening in on this private conversation.  Closing the door again softly, you go back to the bed and grab your phone.  Dismissing your alarm, you send a text to Xiaotang.
You: Xiaotang love of my life i need help
While you wait for her to reply, you straighten up Ziyi’s bed, tucking the sheets back under the mattress like always.  You sit on top of the sheets cross-legged and plug your phone in, waiting for her text.
Mountain Top <3: i thought you were over at the wang-chen apt??  ask one of them for help
Mountain Top <3: theyre closest to you rn
You debate on telling Xiaotang what you suspect that the boys were talking about but you decide that you’d rather tell her in person.
You: hhhhh about that
You: i dont think they can help.  .... can you pick me up on your bike?
Mountain Top <3: okay??  i’ll let esther know im going to get you
You: i will literally explain everything wehn we get back ok ok ok
Mountain Top <3: are you okay?
You: physically?  yes.  mentally/emotionally?  no.
Mountain Top <3: okay im on my way hold tight <3
You: ilysm i’ll see you soon
You see that you have a notification for other unread messages and check who sent you things.  Seeing the little stupid dot to let you know you have notifications in an app annoyed you to no end.  How dare the phone let you know you have things to reply to.  Absolutely disgusting.
You see that Yanjun had sent you a picture of Chengcheng wearing a really horrible brown wig with the caption: Fan Bingbing’s career found dead in a ditch
You snort and tell him to show Esther if he hasn’t already.  You swipe through your other messages, making note to mute your music composition groupchat.  Your heart does a little somersault when you see that Mingming has replied to your text from earlier.
Mingming =^-^=: Hey YN!  I’m actually free this Friday if that’s ok ?
You: that sounds great!  what time?
Mingming =^-^=: Is 19:30 alright?  We could meet at the sushi place near west campus?
You: the one with the hanging fish sign? OwO
Mingming =^-^=: Yeah exaclty!
Mingming =^-^=: Exactly*.  Sorry heh. ‘^-^
You bite your lip to keep in a wide smile as you type out your response, knowing you probably looked a little like a lovesick fool.
You: :3c awesome!  see you then ~!
Clicking your phone off, you let your phone fall in your lap and cover your face with your hands.  You wiggle in excitement for a few moments before the sound of footsteps entering the bathroom next door reminds you of the earlier discomfort.  Taking a deep breath, you steel yourself for the excuses you’re going to have to make to escape the apartment.
Stretching your legs, you un-crisscross-applesauce and make your way to the living room.   The conversation has obviously changed from the tense topic earlier to Ziyi trying to convince Xukun to watch a drama with him.
“Kun, please,” Ziyi drags out, looking at Xukun with the most pleading face he can make.
“Bro, just watch Love O2O on your own.  Why do you need me to watch it with you?”  Xukun replies, not even looking up from his phone.  You smile in amusement.  You know somehow Ziyi is going to convince Xukun to watch the drama with him just like how you know Xukun is going to get too attached to one of the side characters in favor of the mains.
You shake your head, brushing your hair back before walking fully into the living room, ruffling both boys’ hair from behind.  You let a laugh out at their complaints as they hurriedly fix their hair.  You bend down to grab your clothes from your backpack and say without meeting their eyes, “Xiaotang called and said I’m needed back at the apartment.  Apparently roommate bonding is this week, not next.”  You huff out a fake laugh before straightening up with your day clothes bundled in your arms.  “I think Linong is in the bathroom so I’m just going back into your room to change?”  You say to Ziyi, though your sentence lilts up at the end, turning it more into a question.
“Of course,” Ziyi agrees easily, his eyes holding a fondness in them as he looks at you.  “Do you need anything else before you go back to the room?”
You give him a small smile and shake your head.  “It’s okay.  I’ll just leave the borrowed clothes at the end of the bed.”  He nods and you head back to the room, feeling slightly guilty you didn’t so much as make eye contact with Xukun.
As you were walking back, you bump into Linong, who was exiting the bathroom.  He looked freshly styled, a nicely patterned button-down tucked into a pair of dark wash jeans.  His pink flamingo socks made you giggle as you took in his outfit.
“Hot date?”
“Are you leaving already?”
You both say at the same time.  You incline your head towards him, letting him speak first.
“Heh, I guess?  I might be going out later with someone Hanyu set me up with,” he says, his face turning red.
“Aww!”  You exclaim, wishing you weren’t holding things so you could give him a hug.  “Our baby Nongnong is growing up,” you let out a fake sniffle.
“Aiyah,” he says, covering your mouth.  “Save it for when Justin starts going out.  I’m only a year younger than you.”
You look at him expectantly until he takes his hand off of your face.  “The audacity that the youth of today have,” you faux scold.  “But I’m really happy for you.  Is it one of Xiao Yang’s friends?”
“Ah, I think so,” he replies.  You nod, thinking of who it could be.  “Anyways, are you leaving already?”
“Yeah,” you sigh.  “Xiaotang is on her way to get me.  Matter of fact, she should be here already.”  As if she heard you, your ringtone starts going off.
Zhēng yǎnkàn kàn what’s the situation, huāngluàn zhōng yǎnkàn zuìhòu yīdào, wéiqiáng zhèngzài bēngliè wǎjiě, màn man biàn qīngxī de qīngchén Yeah uh...
EXO’s “The Eve” filters out to you faintly.  You make to go to the room to pick up the call and change, but Linong stops you, putting a hand on your shoulder.  The song slowly dies as you miss her call, but you can only focus on Linong’s question.
“Are you okay?”
“Linong, I’m fine.  Why?”  You curse your close friendship with him as he just gives you a look to let you know he doesn’t believe you.
You bite your top lip as you try to find the words you want to say.  “Honestly, I’m fine.  I just... I just need to figure some stuff out.  You understand, right, Nongnong?”
He stares at you for a few beats, assessing.  “You would tell me if it was serious?”
“Of course,” you say, reassuring him as much as you were yourself.
Another round of Zhēng yǎnkàn kàn what’s the situation started up again and Linong pulls you in for a quick hug before letting you go and pushing you slightly to Ziyi’s room.
You frown in confusion at his actions, but continue walking on.  You close the door with your foot and rush to the bed to pick up the call, dropping your clothes on the comforter.
”I just need to change and pack my stuff up and I’ll meet you downstairs,” you say to Xiaotang in lieu of a standard greeting, getting straight to the point.
“Okay,” she says, “see you soon.”  She hangs up and you change out of Xukun’s clothes into your own.  You adjust your shirt one last time folding the clothes you borrowed from Xukun and setting them at the foot of the bed.  Satisfied, you take one more look around to make sure you grabbed everything and, after grabbing your charger, you turn the light off and leave the room.
You walk back to the living room, curling your charger back up and slipping your phone in your pocket.  You stare at the now empty coffee table, expecting to have to clean up your notebooks and pens from earlier.
You walk to your bag, unzipping it to put your charger in it and your things are all there, put away as if you did it yourself.  Your brow furrows and you look over at the two guys sitting on the couch.  “Uh...”  You trail off, not knowing what to say.
“Oh, I packed your bag for you,” Xukun says, “I think I got most of it right!”
You stare at him, swallowing the lump in your throat at the reflexive reaction to the mortifying ordeal of being known.  You jerkily nod, holding your bag tighter to you.
An awkward silence hangs in the air.  For the first time since you met, you don’t know what to say to him.  Ziyi breaks the silence and asks, “You three are still good for karaoke this weekend right?”
“You are such a mother hen, Zi.”  You have a fond smile on your face, grateful to him for speaking up.  “But yeah, I’ll double check with them.  I think we’re still on though.”  You nod and turn to head to the hall to put on your shoes and leave.  Behind you you hear a bunch of rustling before the sounds of footsteps follows you.
“Linong, I said I’ll tell you later,” you say without looking back, putting on your backpack properly.
“It’s not Linong,” the person says awkwardly.  You freeze and turn around slowly to face Xukun’s frown.
“Oh, uh,” you frown too, “I’m sorry.”
He reaches out for your hands, holding them between the two of you like you were made of fine porcelain.  “Are you okay, YN?”  His words hang heavy in the air.
What do you tell him?  ‘Oh, sure, Kunkun.  I just heard you maybe talking about the fact that you like me as more than a friend with two of our closest friends and now I’m trying to process that while you continue to be the caring person I’ve always known you as and now my feelings are all mixed up and confusing.’
You look off to the side, thinking about what to tell him.  “Kunkun, I’m okay.  Like I said at the cafe, if it was something serious I would tell you.  Okay?”  You take your hands from his and wrap your arms around his waist, burying your face in his shirt.  Slightly muffled, you say, “I promise, Xukun.”
You feel him relax into the hug as he wraps his arms around you.  You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket and you tighten the hug before letting him go.  He stands there, arms awkwardly at his sides, watching you put on your shoes.  As you straighten up, you turn to him with a soft smile.  “Kunkun, I’ll see you later, okay?”
He nods and walks in front of you to open the door.  “Let me know when you and Xiaotang get back.”  You nod.  You step into the hallway, and giving one last wave to Xukun, you take out your phone and tell Xiaotang you’re on your way down.  There’s a tightness in your chest that you feel with each step away from Xukun, but you don’t want to think about why.
--
“So what’s up?  Why did you need me to get you?”  Xiaotang asked when you walked into the living room, getting straight to the point.
When you two had gotten back to the apartment, you begged off their questioning until you could at least change into something more comfortable.  Throwing on a soft, oversized sweater and a pair of knit shorts, you take out your contacts and put on your glasses, fully deciding that you are putting in no more effort to deal with the rest of the day outside of your apartment.
Pulling at the sleeves of the sweater, you vaguely remember having stolen it from Zhengting or Justin.  You ball the ends of the sweater in your fists and think about how to tell Xiaotang and Shuxin what you had heard.  And then doubt crawls into your mind.  Had you even heard it right in the first place?
“YN?”  Shuxin asks, waving her hand in front of your face.
You flinch out of your thoughts, blinking to regain your bearings.  “I’m fine.”
Shuxin sets aside the script she was memorizing for class and looks you in the eye.  “Is everything okay?”
You bite your lip for a second in hesitation before saying, “I heard Xukun talking with Linong and Ziyi.”
Xiaotang hooked her chin on your shoulder and shared a look with Shuxin.  “I don’t understand the problem.”  Shuxin said, head tilting in confusion.
“They were talking about me.”  You say, tired all of the sudden.  Shuxin and Xiaotang listen attentively as you give them the run down of how you spent your time in the Wang-Chen apartment.  Of what Xukun had said about you and Mingming.
“... What does it mean?”  You finish, your hands no longer tangled in the sleeves of the sweater, but rather in the hands of your roommates.  “Like, what could he have meant by that?  That whole “I have Mingming now” shit?”
“It means Xukun is a coward,” Xiaotang says, straightening up, her tone dismissive.  “Focus on Mingming.”
“They should talk to Xukun about what they heard,”  Shuxin says instead, furrowing her brows together and shooting Xiaotang a look.
“Look at it this way,”  Xiaotang says, leaning back from you and waiting for you to turn to her.  “He’s had what?  Almost two semesters worth of chances to tell you that your feelings are reciprocated.  And then he finds out that you like Mingming and just gives up?  Says that you’re taken with Mingming now?  Fuck that.”  She lets out a huff and pushes her hair back from her face.  “Mingming has always been upfront about how he feels about you.  Don’t compromise yourself for someone who can’t even tell you to your face that he likes you.”
You and Shuxin stare at Xiaotang in awe, her tone almost venomous.
Shuxin clears her throat.  “It isn’t as simple as that, Xiao.  You forget that he is in the public eye, moreso than Chengcheng and definitely moreso than any of us.  If he does anything, he has to be certain that YN isn’t going to crack and run at the first push back.  And you know there are going to be iKun who are not going to support him.”  She turns her focus on you.  “YN, you should talk to him about what you heard, regardless of the conflicting feelings you have for him and Mingming.”
You push your glasses up, trying to think about how to respond.  Luckily, you don’t need to formulate an answer as Shuxin continues.
“You deserve to have all of the information in front of you before you make a decision.  And,” she pauses, trying to find the right words, “and he deserves to know that you heard what he said.  He doesn’t have much privacy to begin with.  Don’t let him lose this too.”
The three of you sit in a contemplative silence for a few minutes.  You chew on your lip absentmindedly, thinking about what your roommates said.
“Do you think you could handle that?”  Xiaotang asks, her voice much gentler now.  You look at her, confusion evident on your face.  “The huge change that would come with dating Kun?  The shift from being anonymous to being known internationally?  Yes, Esther was right when she mentioned his privacy but you should think about yours as well.  Could you- Would you even want to?”  Her eyes are worried, watching you carefully.
“I mean, to an extent they’re already known like the rest of our friend group.  Even without being friends with Xukun, we are friends with Chengcheng and Ziyi.  Though Ziyi wasn’t on ‘Idol Producer’ for long, he still built up a solid fanbase.”  Shuxin says, tugging on one of her pigtails unconsciously.
Xiaotang nods, agreeing with her, but still argues, “But this is a different loss of privacy.  If YN had a falling out with Chengs or Zi, eventually they’d fade from the eye of the guys’ fans.  But Xukun...”
You pick up where she left off, you and Shuxin knowing what she was implying, but something in you compelled you to finish her sentence.  “But Xukun is different.  He’s the rising star of China right now.  If something happened, regardless of whose fault it would be, I would be blamed for everything.  And even though he’s not like Yixing and a major international star...”  You let out a sigh.  “He did tour in Vancouver, Canada.  He’s making a greater name for himself outside of Asia.”  While Westerners tend to be more forgiving regarding idols having relationships, it’s still something you don’t know if you would survive.
Every move, every breath, every blink analyzed to make sure that you aren’t someway using Xukun.  That you aren’t making him unhappy.  That you are what the fans want you to be.
Shuxin rubs your arm comfortingly.  “YN, it’s alright for you to put yourself first in this situation.”  The look you gave her spurred her on.  “You put so much thought into how to make your friends happy.  Sometimes too much.  Your happiness and comfort are important here, too, and if you’re worried the pros don’t outweigh the cons, you shouldn’t push yourself into doing something you aren’t going to be happy with in the end.”
You feel your throat tightening from emotion and you cough to clear the serious air.  “Wah, Esther, when did you get so wise?”  You put your head on her shoulder and look up at her, faux adoringly.
She flicks you on the forehead, eyes bright.  “When I was talking with Bingbing-jiejie for an assignment for Professor Wu, we ended up talking about other things as well.”  You pout at her, rubbing your forehead while she explained.
Xiaotang pipes up again, laughter in her voice.  “Is there anything else we should know before we get bonding night started officially?”
“Oh, yeah.  Mingming and I are going out Friday.  Shit!”  You exclaim, rubbing your arms where your roommates hit you.
“Why didn’t you lead with that?”  Shuxin asks incredulously.  The tense and serious air disappears as Xiaotang and Shuxin complain some more about your quote, unquote “betrayal” before turning to what you guys were going to have for dinner.
Later that night as you lay in bed, you make up your mind on what you’re going to.  You fall into a troubled sleep hoping you have made the right choice.
--
“Send us a text as soon as you get to the restaurant,” Shuxin says, styling your hair.  “Wait, no,” her hands still in your hair, “text us as soon as you see the fish.”  She continues to style your hair.
“Aren’t you friends with Mingming?”  you ask, looking at her in the mirror.
Xiaotang says at the same time, “Don’t you have film class with him?”
Her hands pause again.  “I’m not Friends friends with him though!  He sits with Minghao and Wenxuan.”
You and Xiaotang share a look.  “You say these names like we’re supposed to know them,” you smile teasingly, poking Shuxin’s side.  You store the names for later.  Just in case.
Xiaotang makes a sound of agreement, stepping out of the closet holding a light brown cropped cardigan.  “Wait...”  She says, holding it out in front of her.  “Isn’t this mine?”
“Uh, no?”  You look at her reflection in the mirror, smiling hopefully.
She clicks her tongue, setting it on the bed with the rest of your outfit completing the warm, autumnal look.  “Just don’t stain it.”
“Mn,” you agree, stretching when Shuxin says you can stand and get dressed now.  They lightly chatted with you as you got dressed, wishing you luck.  You glance at your wrist and see that you have a little over 20 minutes to get to the restaurant.  Opting for a nicer pair of sneakers, you grab one of your bags and bid them goodbye, starting on the 15-ish minute walk to the restaurant.
True to your word, you text them when you see the fish sign, the neon lights giving the illusion that it was swimming.
You: i have made it to fish
You: [image attached]
Mountain Top <3: have fun !  dont do anything i wouldnt ;)
Fan Bingbing 2.0: If he does anything off-color, slap him.
Fan Bingbing 2.0: Then call us.
Fan Bingbing 2.0: Or one of the boys.
Mountain Top <3: or both ;D
Fan Bingbing 2.0: Yanjun and Zhangjing live in West Campus.
You: o.o’
You: i think i’ll be alright???  but yes okay i’ll keep that in mind :]
You let out a small laugh, amused by Shuxin’s mother henning and shoot a text out to Yanjun and Zhangjing to also let them know you were in their neck of the woods.  You walk into the restaurant and text Mingming to tell him you had arrived.  He responds quickly, telling you to let the host know that you were the other half of the Yao reservation.  You do as he said and are led to a table by the windows, opposite of where you had entered.  You saw Mingming looking out the window at the passing cars, playing with his napkin, and your breath catches at seeing him outside of his cafe uniform for the first time.
The dying sunlight was hitting him, coloring him in golden pink.  Instead of his hair hanging over his forehead and a little bit into his eyes like you were used to, it was more styled, parted in the center.  His shirt is a black and white pattern, slightly unbuttoned, and you see that it is half tucked into dark jeans when he stands to greet you.  He also is wearing a simple necklace with a pendant and has several rings on.
“YN!”  He greets, pulling you in for a hug which you gladly reciprocate.  You can smell his cologne and you feel your knees go a little weak.
“Hi Mingming,” you smile, pulling back from the hug.  He pulls out your chair for you and, after you sit down, he goes back to his side of the table.
“You look great,” Mingming says, a faint blush on his cheeks.
You know you probably look the same as you say, “You look incredible, too.”
He ducks his head down at that, a hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck.  You swallow dryly at the hint of the bracelets he wore.  Blinking, you turn your head to look out the window at the traffic.  Despite all of the cars, it is still a pretty view, and you’re able to see the bridge over the pond on campus.
“So, do you like the food here?”  He asks, your attention going back to him.
“Ah,” you give him an embarrassed smile, “I’ve actually never eaten here.  My roommates’ boyfriend and his roommate live on this side of campus and his roommate is in culinary school.”
“That’s fair,” Mingming says, “if I knew someone who was going to culinary school I, too, would eat at their place for free instead of eating at a restaurant.”  You embarrassment leaves with his comment.
“What about you?”  You ask him in return, interested in what he thinks of the place.  It’s not badly decorated.  The lights are slightly dimmed, giving off a feeling of coziness and privacy.  On top of the dividers for seating across the restaurant are aquariums, each filled with different fish and plants.  And the seats are comfortable, which you greatly appreciate.
“My friend Changxi works here,” he says.  “He’s a server.  The food is great here.  I hope you won’t be disappointed.”
You feel a surge of fondness for him and assure him that you trust his judgement.
Shortly after that, a server walks up to the table with waters and menus.  “Hello, I am Changxi.  I’ll be your server this evening.  Is there anything I can get you to drink, other than water?”
“Yeah, can I get a cup of black tea, Xixi?”  Mingming asks.
“Mn,” Changxi hums, “Figured.  And you?”  Changxi turns slightly towards you, waiting for your response.
“Actually, I would like some tea, too.”
Changxi cracks a smile at you.  “Great.  Is there a specific blend you would like, or would you also like black?”
“Oh,” you pause, “if you have ginger?”
Something in Changxi’s demeanor changed and he looks back at Mingming.  “I like this one.”
Mingming turns red and starts shooing Changxi away.  After saying he’ll be back soon with the teas, Changxi leaves, the sound of his laughter following him.
Mingming stares at the menu, staunchly not looking at you from embarrassment.
“I like him,” you comment, scanning over the menu yourself.  You glance up at Mingming through your lashes and see that he relaxes significantly.  Smiling, you ask, “So, are you thinking sushi or tonkatsu?”
The rest of the meal follows in similar fashion, both of you wanting to get to know each other in a more romantic sense than the flirty-platonic way you had been before.  Everything seemed to be going well, Mingming telling stories about Changxi and his friends, with Changxi interrupting every now and then, and you in turn telling stories about Shuxin, Xiaotang, and your friends.
It was when the sushi came that nerves started creeping back in.  You go about it the way you normally would, putting the gari (pickled ginger) and the wasabi on your sushi and pop it in your mouth.  You meet Mingming’s eyes when you take a sip of your tea.  His head was tilted to the side.  It reminded you of a kitten seeing something for the first time.
“Is everything okay?”  You ask, setting down your teacup.
“No, yeah, it’s just...”  He trails off, searching for words.  “I’ve just never seen someone eat sushi like that before.”
You smile, picking up another piece of sushi with your chopsticks and moving it to your plate.  You start putting the gari and the wasabi on the piece as you explain.  “Not that it will surprise you, but I hear that a lot.  I was out with Mom for dinner once and we were talking about how the norm is to eat gari after each piece of sushi to cleanse your palette before the next bite.  I was still trying to increase the spice level I could handle and so I was putting wasabi on when my Mom says I should just put the gari on, too, to test it out.”  You pick up the finished piece.  “I haven’t looked back since.  Would you like to try it?”
He looks contemplative for a moment before nodding.  You reach out, intending to put the sushi on his plate, when he opens his mouth.  You don’t know what comes over you but you offer him the sushi with your chopsticks instead, your hand hovering in the air as his eyes light up, lips closing over the wood.  You feel a wave of heat sweep through you causing your cheeks to heat up as Mingming’s dark eyes stare into yours.  He pulls back and you hope that the tremble in your hand isn’t obvious.
“So?  What’s the verdict?”  You ask after he swallows.
“Mm, I don’t think it’s my style,” he says apologetically.
You laugh, “I think that this is the nicest way my style of sushi consumption has been rejected.”  You feel slightly dejected, but you figured it was going to end up this way anyways.  “I had made my friend group try it once.  There were mixed reviews, but the funniest by far was from Zhengting.  He claimed it ‘was a crime against fishkind’,” you air quote, “and the thing is, he doesn’t even like seafood all that much.  It’s now become the running joke whenever we go out for sushi and they see me and Xukun eating it like that.”
The atmosphere changes around you at his name.  Mingming bites his lip, like he’s trying to hold back from saying something.  You just wait patiently, nervous about what he has to say, clacking your chopsticks together softly.
Finally, he breaks the silence.  “Can I be honest with you?”
Your brow furrows in concern.  “I... I think I would prefer it that way, yes.”
He breathes out a laugh at your reply.  “I was a little surprised when you said in the cafe that you weren’t dating him.  I was even more surprised when you agreed to go on this date.”
“Oh?”  Oh?  That’s all you could say?  Oh???  You think to yourself.  “What do you mean?”“
“It’s just that... You looked like you fit together?  Like there was a synchronicity between the two of you that I don’t think either of you were aware of?”  He starts playing with his chopsticks, continuing, “Like, for dance, it can take forever to reach that level with a partner, even if it is someone you partner with a lot.  But for you and Xukun, it was as if you anticipated the other’s actions and what’s more is that you were right.”
“Well, okay, so,” you say, gearing up to explain things, not wanting him to get the wrong idea.  “When he visits campus, he stays with our friends Linong and Ziyi.  You probably know Linong through Hanyu?  Well, Linong is like a little brother to me.  Ziyi is one of the parent friends in the group and I’m close with him.  Xukun and I, when we met-”
Mingming cuts you off.  “I’m sorry for cutting you off, YN.  You don’t have to explain anything.  I was just telling you why I was surprised that you said yes is all.”
“No, Mingming, I want to explain.”  You say, putting down your chopsticks and reaching for his hand.  “You should know the whole story and then if you still are interested in dating me, you can.  But you deserve to have all the information in front of you.”
He sets his chopsticks down, too, and takes your hand gently in his.  “Go ahead then, YN.  I’ll listen.”
And so you tell him the whole story.  How you had woken up and heard what Xukun said and how you talked with Shuxin and Xiaotang about what to do.  You talked about what they told you, the risks that would come with dating an idol.  You tell him how you went to Xukun yesterday and told him everything you heard.
--
“Kunkun,” you say, sitting across from him at their kitchen table, a cup of tea in front of either of you.  “We need to talk.”
“What’s up?”  He asks, sipping on his tea.
You decide to just get to the point, not seeing any sense in prolonging the conversation more than you have to.  “I heard you the other day.  You and Ziyi and Linong.”
Xukun sits there, teacup cradled between his hands, staring at you.  His face is impassive.
You let out a sigh, not really a fan of where this conversation is heading.  “I talked with Shuxin and Xiaotang about it.  Esther said I should talk to you first, so here I am.”  You make halfhearted jazz hands.  Taking another sip of tea, you continue.  “Xukun, in another time or another place or if I were braver... I wish you would’ve said something earlier.”
“Just say it, YN.  Please.”  Xukun begs, staring down into his tea.
“I don’t think that we should date.  At least right now.  Our lives are just too different.  You’re trying to make an international name for yourself, you have the PD spot coming up soon, I’m still a university student.  Maybe when things are more stable, at least on my end?  I don’t know if I could handle the change in social status while I’m still in school.  And I don’t want to put that sort of pressure on you either.”
“I don’t understand what you mean?  The last part about the pressure on me?”  He asks you, his lips turned down at the ends.
“What if I have some sort of important project?  Or speech or presentation?  What if it’s my graduation and you aren’t able to make it because you’re hosting something or you’re on tour or you’re stuck in the studio because of a deadline?  If we still feel the same about each other after I graduate and we’re both single, then God.  God, of course I would explore this avenue with you.  But right now?”
“It wouldn’t be good for either of us,” he finishes, resignation in his voice.  He looks off to the side, and you find that you started crying at some point.  You wipe at your face and see Xukun’s eyes are glassy with unshed tears.
You get up from your seat and walk around to him, standing in front of him.
“Xukun,” you say, barely above a whisper.
His eyes focus on you and he says, voice breaking, “Can I ask for something?”
You nod, cupping his face, thumb swiping at a stray tear that fell.
“Can I kiss you?  Just this once?  Just to know what it would be like to have you as mine?”  His hands hesitantly settle on your hips, tears still falling.
You nod again, holding back a sob.  You can give him this.  Your other hand comes up to cup the other side of his face and he pulls you closer to him.
Your lips press together and you see flashes of what could’ve been.  You can taste the salt of your mixed tears and you break away from the kiss, burying your head into his shoulder, sobbing softly.  Xukun does the same, holding you close to him, tears falling.  Heartbreak when you could be together but can’t is the worst heartbreak of all.
--
“So Xukun and I are staying friends,” you finish.  You don’t tell Mingming about everything that you and Xukun did but you do tell him that, in no uncertain terms, you are not dating Xukun.
Mingming looks at you, contemplative.  “And you’re okay with this?”
You take a sip of your water.  “To be honest, I am a little sad about it.  But I think it’s moreso that I hurt him than it is the not dating him.  I want to be here, tonight, with you.”
He nods, not looking entirely convinced, but changes the subject to which you are grateful.  You’re sure that in the near future you and he will talk about this again, but for now he lets you off of the hook.  “I don’t know if you’ve heard, but this place is famous for its raindrop cakes.  You interested?”
Your eyes widen.  “Am I interested?  Zhangjing hasn’t been able to master it yet.  I would love to try one that is, you know, good.”
Mingming’s uneven smile makes your heart skip a beat and soon Changxi is trading out the empty dinner plates for a pink raindrop cake with flowers in it.  In a small, shallow bowl, there was some sort of powder and next to it were two small pitchers, about the size of the teacups.  One was filled with a dark syrup and the other was filled with something white.
“Kuromitsu,” Changxi says, pointing to the dark syrup.  “It’s a sweet syurp.”  He points to the shallow bowl filled with powder.  “Kinako.  It’s roasted soybean flour.”  He points to the last condiment.  “Sweetened condensed milk.  Not exactly traditional traditional, but it seems to be popular with the campus life here.  I’ll leave you two to it.”  Changxi says with a smile.  As he leaves, he pats Mingming on the shoulder before heading towards where you assume the kitchens are.
Mingming asks if you have any preference on how you want to eat the raindrop cake.  “It’s a sakura raindrop cake!”  You shake your head no and tell him that he can prepare it whichever way he thinks is best.
He sets about getting the kinako and kuromitsu onto the spoon with a piece of the cake and holds out the spoon for you, one hand under just in case.  You feel the familiar rush of heat as you lean forward, your lips closing around the spoon, and a flush spreading from your neck.  As the spoon slides out from between your lips, your eyes widen at the taste.
“You like it?”  Mingming asks, amused at your reaction.
You nod frantically.  Swallowing, you say, “It’s so unique!”
He hands you the spoon and you both proceed to enjoy the dessert.  Mingming ends up paying for the dinner claiming that Changxi can use his employee discount on the meal.  “Besides,” he says, helping you into your coat, “you can always get the next one.”
You hide a smile at the idea, ducking your head under the pretense of zipping up your coat.  The next one.  As you walk out of the restaurant, you thank him again for the meal.
Mingming brushes you off.  “What sort of date would I be if I didn’t pay for my, for you?”  He says, stumbling over his words.
Wordlessly, you slip your hand into his, feeling the heat of his hand contrast with the cold air around you.  His hand tightens around yours for a heartbeat or two before relaxing into your hold.
“I drove here, so if you want, I can drive you back to yours?”  He says, taking his keys out of his coat pocket.
You almost say no, not wanting him to go out of his way for you, when a sudden icy breeze steals your breath.  You turn into him to protect yourself and say into his coat, “Please.”
He laughs, slinging his arm around you.  “Your carriage awaits, YN.”
You laugh in return, shoving him slightly.  “Don’t be so greasy.”
His car was slightly warm by the time you got in.  He had started it while you were walking to the parking lot.  It was a nice enough car, a few years old if you had to hazard a guess.  Mingming turns up the heat and plugs his phone into the aux.  Yixing filters in through the speakers and he starts backing out of the parking spot.
After a few minutes of him driving, you start to feel warm from the car’s heater.  You think Mingming is feeling similar and your suspicions are proven right when, at a stop light, he takes off his coat and tosses it into the backseat.  “Hey, if you want, you can throw your coat in the back too, if you feel too warm.”
“Cool, thanks,” you say, unzipping your coat and leaning forward slightly to get your arms out of it.  You turn, using Mingming’s seat to steady yourself, and toss your coat back as well.  As you turn to the front again, you let your hand trail down his arm.  You see his jaw clench and you decide to be even more bold.  You take the hand that is resting on the gear shift and place it on your thigh, a little above your knee.
Playing with the rings on his hand, you ask innocently, “Is this okay?”
“Mn.”  He hums out, fingers pressing into your thigh slightly.  The air in the car is thick with tension and you bite your lip, trying to quell your heart rate.
The rest of the ride is like that, a cat and mouse game between the two of you intensifying the longer you two are in there together.  By the time you get to your building, you feel like you cut the air with scissors, as if you were at the grand opening for some new thing.  Which, in a way, you are.
Mingming taking his hand from you to park brings you back to the moment.  He shuts off the engine and the light of the street lamps scattered around the parking lot was enough to see how dark his eyes were.  “If you tell me to stop, I’ll stop.  But can I kiss you?”  He asks.
You nod, unbuckling your seat belt to lean closer to him.  Your eyes flutter closed at the first tentative press of his lips on yours.  You two trade quick pecks like that before the kisses start getting longer, deeper.  You hear Mingming unbuckle his seat belt as well before he breaks away from the kiss.  You whine at the loss, but quickly get over it at the sound of his seat sliding back.  He pulls your hand and helps you clamber over the center console and settle in his lap.
You loop your arms around his neck and press closer to him.  “Isn’t this a bit dangerous, Mingming?”
“Like it like this, a little risky, you pressing to me.  Right now danger seems like a good thing.“  His voice sounds rough and, even though you know the words are cheesy as fuck and kinda greasy, you can’t help yourself.  You dive back in, running a hand through his hair.  You feel one of his arms tighten around your waist and the other sliding up to cradle your neck.
You bite at his lower lip and he lets out a groan.  You smile, making a note of it, and pepper kisses down his jaw towards his neck.  You scrape your teeth softly against the collar bones he has been flaunting at you all night and move back to the junction of his neck and shoulder, trying to find the spot that will drive him crazy.  You know you found it when he doesn’t even moan, just pulls you impossibly closer to him and his hands clench at your side and in your hair, drawing a whine from you.
He pulls you away from his neck and makes you lean back from him a little.  You look at him, brain hazy, and take in his disheveled appearance with a sense of pride.  You don’t get a long look, however, before he’s leaning forward and attaching his lips to your pulse point.  You curl your fingers, one on the headrest of his seat and the other in the fabric of his shirt.  He bites down before soothing it with his tongue and you let out a choked gasp at the sensation.  You can feel him smile against your neck as he starts kissing back up towards your mouth.  You decide, as he’s kissing you, that his smirk might just be the best thing.  You nip at his lower lip again and he all but growls, sending your head reeling.  It’s as if all of your senses are filled with nothing but Mingming, Mingming, Mingming.  You trail a hand down his shirt and slip a few more buttons open, feeling the hard muscle that lay beneath.
You lightly drag your nails down his chest when he grabs your hand, stopping you.  “Not here,” he says between kisses.
“Mm,” you respond, tangling your hands in his hair instead.  After a few more moments, you both separate, panting from lack of air.  Mingming peppers kisses across your face, gently rubbing your back as you catch your breath.
“Hi,” you say softly, thumbs stroking across his cheekbones.  You can see his lips, red and shining from moments ago.
“Hi,” he says, giggling a little.  He tilts his head up and kisses the tip of your nose.  “I think it’s time for you to go to your roommates now, love.”
You pout at the thought of leaving him.  “You’ll walk me up though?”  You ask, squishing his cheeks a little.
“Yes,” he says, almost sounding like he said ‘yesh’ from his lips being pursed.
He helps you get back into your seat and you both fix yourselves up, trying to look more put together than you currently felt.  Mingming reaches back behind you for your coats after he finishes and hands yours to you.
You weren’t prepared for the cold and how its knife-sharp wind cut through you and you say as much to Mingming, though in less words.  “F’ck’n’ cold,” you mumble, walking out of the lot towards your building.  You hear his laughter behind you and you turn to see his head thrown back, cloud of cold breath hanging in the air before being swept away by the breeze.  Your eyes soften and you wait for him to catch up to you, stomping in place.
He takes your hand into his and puts both in his pocket.  “Let’s go.”
The walk to your apartment was quiet, only the sounds from the night’s traffic and your steps surrounding you.
--
“Thank you for walking me back,” you say, stopped in front of your door.
“Of course,” he says, his uneven smile making another appearance.  You lean up and he meets you in another kiss.  He pushes your hair back behind your ear and you shiver at the feeling of his cold fingers.
You two stand in front of the door kissing for who knows how long before Yanjun is opening the door.  “YN, are you going to come in or what?”
You separate from Mingming with a surprised squeak.  “Yeah, no, yeah I’m coming.”  Your voice was high from embarrassment.
“Yep,” Shuxin agrees, stepping out of the apartment and starts pulling on the hood of your coat, trying to get you into the apartment.  “Say goodnight to Mingming.”
“Goodnight, Mingming,” you say reluctantly.
“Goodnight, YN,” he says, a soft smile on his face.
“I’ll see you later.”  You promise, Shuxin shifting you to Yanjun.
“Okay!”  He says, loud enough for you to hear from the front shoe hall of the apartment.
Shuxin squint glares at him and does the ‘I’m watching you’ sign with her fingers before closing the door.
“Did you have a good time?”  Xiaotang asks as you settle into the pile of blankets and pillows she and the other two had made in front of the couch.  You heard her unvoiced question: Do you think you made the right choice?
Leaning against Yanjun to steal some snacks you say, “Yeah.  Yeah, I think I did.”
Lin Yanjun (mentor) x reader
In honor of finishing my 5th semester that the final assignment was to do a major composition (and I somewhat reference Yanjun a bit, okay, I used some of his pics to enhance my composition but yea), this is a one-shot of Yanjun from a dream I had of him. In this dream, he was sorta, one of the mentors for the Youth With You competition and you’re his secret girlfriend.
Tumblr media
It was no shock that this cold making joke person also appears cold since the majority of time, his face was basically an RBF. But seeing it in real-life gives you even more chills. Especially when he is the mentor of many trainees. Lin Yanjun, debuted as the 5th member of Nine Percent back in the first ever Youth With You or Idol Producer as it was known. Now, he, along with his ex-bandmates are all mentors to the new 100 (girl) trainees.
Though he seemed unapproachable due to his cold (RBF) looks, he was actually kind and caring towards the trainees; just like his bandmates. Each of them paid close attention, point out the trainees’ mistakes and even practiced with them to make the trainees feel more comfortable with them. Not to mention, when Yanjun was not only known to be the master of cold jokes but also flirting. Whenever some trainees seemed stressed, Yanjun would always either make a lame, cold joke to lighten up the mood or even flirt when they were practising (ofc to a friendship kind of level). Which is why it’s not a surprised when many trainees get excited when they see him walking along the hallway, waving at them or even when they have classes with him.
However, there was one secret about Yanjun that only his family and bandmates know (and a few other ppl that he trust). That is, Yanjun actually already have a girlfriend. That’s right. This cold (yet hot) face that loves making lame/cold jokes and flirt with literally everything is in fact already taken. Which is why he doesn’t flirt as much as he used to. He knows how flirting can make their significant other feel. Which is the main reason why he tones it down, unless he is with his girlfriend, of course.
He met his girlfriend not too long before becoming a mentor, from one of his shoots for a film. But due to the difference in country origin, the two had to be in a long distance relationship. Though worried how it’ll affect their relationship, it turns out that the long distance actually made them even closer than ever before. No matter how busy both their schedules were, they would always connect each other through messaging applications and even find the time to have a long call with each other at least once every two weeks.
Yanjun wouldn’t admitted it but he does miss the physical interaction and quiet moments when he in the same country as his girlfriend. Especially when he had a long day of work. It doesn’t help that today was one of those days. It has only been 3 months since he last saw his girlfriend, and 1 month since he became a mentor. Normally, it wasn’t as bad since he would normally get the morning classes instead of the late ones like Kun (because he is the main PD in my dream while Yanjun and Ziyi are side PDs). Unfortunately, this day was not his day. Because the trainees were now finalising their performances for the position evaluations and he was in charge of the vocal groups.
For the past month, the trainees were all doing well in class. But for some reason, when it was time to practice on the actual stage, Yanjun noticed multiple mistakes. Whether it was their pronounciations on several english words of the song, their synchronization, or even when they were off-key. This resulted in Yanjun staying back for quite a long time, dismissing his break time and even eating schedule. To Yanjun, if he hasn’t finished work, then he wouldn’t take a break. Especially when the trainees still want to keep going.
It took a lot out of him, pointing out the trainees’ mistakes, repeating each part multiple times before repeating the performance as a whole. After what seemed to be hours of reteaching the trainees and giving them encouragement, Yanjun was finally done for the day. But unfortunately, it was not a good sign for the trainees who were seeing him the next day.
Throughout the whole morning, Yanjun didn’t give any smile whatsoever. Returning to his RBF face due to lack of rest and food. It even escalated when one of the staffs mentioned to him that he had to go to one of the stage halls before all the other staffs and trainees. Though slightly irritated, Yanjun kept it to himself and headed towards the stage halls. Passing through the hallways of the dorms, Yanjun kept a cold gaze and attitude. Only nodding to the trainees and staff he passed by while the trainees bowed at him, not wanting to meet with his cold gaze.
Tumblr media
When he finally reached the stage hall, he heard music playing. Confused to why there was music, he closed the hall and slowly crept towards the stage, seeing a familiar figure. As he got closer, he caught a glimpse of the mysterious figure that was right before the stage. Recognising the figure, Yanjun crept every so slowly and hugged them by the waist, placing his head on the crook of their neck.
“Well, I’ve missed you too Jun” you giggled, turning around to see your boyfriend
“Is this why you didn’t text me back this morning? After a long, dreadful day I had the other day?” Yanjun complained, his breath was by your neck
“I wanted it to be a surprise. Did you know how hard was it to get permission? Not to mention coming here without the worry that someone may get a picture of me? I practically had to have the other 8 boys, especially Kun, Justin and Zhangjing beg the producer to allow me to come” you complained back, but in a more playful tone
“Thank you for coming. Thank you for taking the time to come all the way here, just for me” Yanjun sighed, hugging you even tighter, kissing the side of your cheek
“Well, I didn’t come here just for you. That’d be selfish” you teased
“Well, I’m hurt now. Can’t believe you didn’t come here just for me” Yanjun pouted, pulling away from the hug
“You’re adorable when you’re jealous. Don’t you think I don’t know about your flirting with the trainees?” you confronted him
“Well, I toned it down. I know that you would get jealous. But like, they’re my students. While the boys are basically, them!! And let’s not even start with Justin” Yanjun exaggerated
“Alright, alright. C’mon, let’s go have haidilao!! I already made reservations!!” you exclaimed, pulling Yanjun’s hand and directing him towards the back exit
“Hehehe, alright, alright. It better be just the both of us!!” Yanjun warned, wrapping his arm around your shoulder, kissing the side of your temple as the two of you went out to have lunch
Ahhh!!! Another story about Yanjun. Alright, originally, in the dream, Yanjun knew you were coming and he locked all the doors to make sure the two of you have your privacy but I decided to elaborate more. Also, quick note, in my idea, Yanjun, Kun and Ziyi are all PDs but Kun is still the main PD. Yanjun takes care of vocals, Ziyi with rap and Kun with dance but all three takes care of the stage performance. This is mainly because Kun and Yanjun have both become leaders and centres before. While I chose Ziyi because he is just so sweet when it comes to group performances and all. Alright, thank you for reading!!
“Is that the new girl?”
“I heard she’s the heiress to the Cai family!”
“Cai family? Is she related to Cai Xu Kun?”
“No way! I’m so jealous!”
You gripped the strap of your backpack as you walked down the hall, hearing the whispers about you, feeling their gazes on you. ‘Here we go again.’ you thought, still walking down the hall to the office, head hanging low, gaze on the floor instead of straight ahead.
Soon enough, it was time for class and you followed the teacher from the office to your class.
You did a small bow. “I’m Cai Y/N.” you introduced yourself coldly. You didn’t say much about yourself and the teacher wanted to urge you to say more but she didn’t bother in the end. “You can sit anywhere you want.” she gestured to the few empty seats scattered around the class. “Okay.”
You sit at the empty seat at the very back of the classroom, next to a guy. All the empty seats were next to girls and you didn’t want to sit next to them either because girls liked to gossip a lot and be nosy, which you didn’t want.
“Hey~” the guy seated next to you greeted, grinning widely. You ignored him though. “Um... My name is Justin.” Ignored, again. He gave up trying to get you to talk to him for the next few periods.
As soon as class ended, you grab your stuff and head out the back door immediately. “Wai-” Justin tried to call out to you but you left too quickly. “And there she goes.” he sighs. “Who?” Ming Hao turns around to face the owner of the voice that asked who. “My seatmate.” he answers. “You have a seatmate now?” Zheng Ting asks again. “Yeah, she just transferred here. Cai Y/N. She hasn’t talked to me yet though...” he sighs yet again. “Oof. Not a very warm seatmate you have there.”
Meanwhile, you are making your way through the halls and into the cafeteria. You grab some food, find a seat and start to eat. “Oh hey. If it isn’t the new girl.” you hear someone say to you as you were eating. “I hear that you chose to sit beside Justin.” You continue to eat, not paying any attention to her, which annoyed her. “You’ve got some nerve to be ignoring Justin and me on your first day! Do you not want to have a good life at school?” You continue to ignore her. “Fine.” she scoffs, grabbing a carton of milk and pouring it on your head. You dropped your cutlery and stood up, glaring at her. “Look.” You grabbed the collar of her school uniform. “I would like it if you wouldn’t come and waste my time talking shit. Did I do anything wrong? No. So unless you want to get a broken jaw. I suggest you leave me alone. Got it?” You let go of her, grab your stuff and head to the restroom.
As you left the cafeteria, Justin just entered it with his friends, so he saw you leaving. “Y/N?” he called your name as you were walking past him but you didn’t hear him. “You know that girl?” Zhang Jing asked. “Yeah, she’s my seatmate...” “Was that milk all over her???” Cheng Cheng asked.
You didn’t go back to class after lunch because your clothes were soaked and you had no spare clothes with you. So you were sent home. But instead of going home, you went to your work place, a well hidden cafe that was in between the school and your home.
“Y/N! You finished school early? Woah, you smell of milk.” your co-worker took in a few sniffs. “I was excused from school because some girl poured milk all over me during lunch... I’m gonna go take a shower.” “Your uniform is in locker seven!” your co-worker tells you.
For the rest of the day you work at the cafe and around 4PM... “Welcome to The Ne-” you freeze at the sight of your seatmate Justin and his friends. “You know ‘em?” your co-worker asks. “They’re regulars here.” she adds. ‘Shit.’ you curse in your head.
‘First day of school, get rumors about you spread around like wild fire, sits next to who might be one of the popular kids in school, get milk poured all over you by an obnoxious girl, and now your schoolmates are regulars at your new job. How wonderful.’ these were the thoughts that went through your mind as you served the boys their food and beverages. “Enjoy.” you smile, yet it somehow sounded cold. “Y/N.” Justin called out to you. You stop in your tracks and turned around. “Yes?” for the first time today, you responded to him. “What happened today?” he asked. “I got milk poured all over me, wasn’t it obvious?” “Why thought?” Zi Yi asked. “I don’t know. Something about ignoring Justin and the girl who poured milk all over me.” “Guess we know who it is now.” Li Nong said. “So you came here after you were sent home?” Yan Jun asked. “Yes. No more questions. I’m busy.” you answered.
You finish your shift at 6PM and the boys are still there. “Bye Y/N!” your co-worker waves at you.
The next day at school, you arrive earlier than everyone else, so you look around the school since you didn’t get to do so yesterday. As you were walking around, you see someone in courtyard. You recognize that it was one of the guys from Justins friend group and he was playing with a cat? You start to walk towards him slowly and quietly.
“Does that cat live in the school?” you ask as you stopped a meter behind him. He turns around after jumping up a little, startled from your sudden appearance. “Oh, yeah... The school kept this cat around for student’s to play with.” he answered. “I see...” you replied. “Y/N, was it? I’m Zi Yi, Wang Zi Yi.” he introduced himself. “Yeah... Cai Y/N.” you responded.
You two ended up sitting down and chatting. More student’s start arriving in the school. Eventually both of you had to go to your respective classes.
Once you arrive in class, you see that Justin is already in his seat. “Morning.” you greet Justin as you set your things down. He was startled at the fact that you greeted him. “M-morning.” he stared at you as you sit down. “What?” you ask the wide-eyed boy. “N-no... I just didn’t expect you to greet me.” he explained. “Well, you’re not only my seatmate, you and your friends are also regulars at the cafe that I work at. I’m going to have to see you guys even if I don’t want to, might as well start talking.” you say. “True... I saw you talking to Zi Yi this morning too.” he adds. “Yeah, he’s a nice guy.” your conversation ended there and class starts.
During lunch, the boys ask you to sit with them. They take that time to introduce themselves to you.
- END -
Hello~ This is the end of this part to this series. I’m not 100% sure if I’ll actually finish this series, I’m hoping I will tho. Anyways, thanks for reading! 9%’s Cai Xukun
Cai Xukun as your boyfriend
Genre: Romance
Pairing: Cai Xukun x Reader
A/n: I don’t know how many words there are so forgive me
Summary: You are Zhu Zhengting little sister you are 19 years old studying Medicine damnn you smart you only met The Yuehua boys what happens when you come home and see Nine Percent
This gif will be the death of me
Tumblr media
You are Zhu Zhengting’s little sister
Since you are in college you don’t meet him often but you always text each other
One day you finally finished your Thesis and your friends dragged you you to a party turns out it was a birthday party of your mutual friend
Zhengting decided it was finally time for you to meet the rest of the members
Since you are close with Justin and Chengcheng they are really excited to meet you again
While the other members have no idea who you are
So it was 12 am and they went in Zhengting expected you to be asleep so imagine him being shocked when he can’t find you in your room
After one hour the party ended and now your friend is driving you home and being the nice friend she is she knocked on your door and when Zhengting opened the door he is shocked to see you drunk your friend pass you to your brother and she kindly explain how you ended up drunk
After your friend left he went inside with your drunk self and when he went inside he saw Chengcheng and Justin’s face lit up at the sight of you
The other members look at you and Cai Xukun immediately took interest in you ‘cuz girl you look hella gorgeous
“Guys this is my sister Zhang Li Wei don’t mind her today her friends invited her for her birthday”
So the Yuehua boys took care of your drunk state
EHEM MORNING
When you wake up your head is throbbing you remember being drunk last night but when you looked down you saw your favorite pajamas and you smelled your favorite food; Chili Chicken, Ramen, Fried Rice and Dim Sum
you were about to get up when the door busts revealing your brother Zhengting
You smiled and hugged him forgetting about your headache
“GEGE!!!” You yelled and he spun you around he made you take your pills and he helped you go downstairs
When you arrived downstairs you saw your besties and some boys you don’t know
Zhengting chuckled at your confused expression and introduced them
NOT THE POINT
After getting to know the boys over breakfast
You and Xukun became the closest and when i mean closest i mean superrr close
EhEmMmMmMmM
Xukun and you often hang out with the rest of the boys and one time you had convinced your brother to let you all drink beer except the minors
Since almost everyone is sleeping except you and Xukun you both decided to have a walk
So the both of you ended up in an abandoned basketball court you didn’t tell anyone but you are actually good at basketball and one of the basketball player in your team/department
“Wei ah let’s have a deal”
“okay??”
“if you win i have to go out with you but if you lose you have to go out with me” he said and smirked
“you bastard”
Okay so Xukun wins and he stretch hi hands out and you accepted it and he pulled you to him and you fall into his embrace
Now Boyfriend Xukun
He and his friends will go to your match cheering you on
His fans knows you and they support your guys’ relationship
Since you and your friends sometimes go to parties he’ll tag along with you
Dates with Xukun will be so fucking romantic you will fall in love with him all over again
Zhengting approves of him
Ziyi will be jealous 100%
Cuddles with Xukun will be innocently soft
So since your dating a celebrity your school’s gossip girls would be the one who will spread the news around the school
Your brother and his friends decided to surprise you by going to your graduation since Zhengting didn’t see you study  he will think your not in the ranks or simply one of the people who is the top 5
So when your name didn’t get called on the top 5 he was sad along with his friends a.k.a Nine Percent after a while it was time to announce the Valedictorian
“For the Medicine Department their Valedictorian is Zheng Li Wei and some of her achievements are Winning the Medicine Dept. in Basketball back in 2018 Completing her Thesis in One day. Last year Ms. Li Wei was also a Valedictorian may i ask her guardian: Mr. Zheng Zhengting up in the stage”
So Zhengting can’t help but feel proud of his little sister and the boys were clapping and once you both are in the stage the rest of the boys (Justin and Chengcheng) decided to be a little extra
y’all remember when Justin and Chengcheng were being a little extra they were saying ‘i love you’ caring the other trianees- did i say saying??? i meant screaming yeah imagine them being like that
Once the ceremony was over you and Xukun hugged each other and you were tearing up a little bit and the boys will treat you
so Being in a relationship with Cai Xukun will be soft, and innocent with a little beer
“Are you ready, sir?” I asked him as he walked out of his office. He took a deep breath and nodded, forcing a small smile on his face. I was convinced that he hated going to meetings. He would always do this sort of routine so that he could calm down so I kind of figured.
I gave him a closed lip smile and together we walked to the car garage. When we got there, the doorman handed me the keys and while walking I pressed one of the buttons, unlocking said car. I had no idea which car we were taking. It was always a mystery that I didn’t have control over even though I was the one driving them. Sad, right?
However, over the years of working at this company as the executive assistant to the CEO and driving him to meetings throughout the week, I’ve established my favorite cars to drive. There was the Kia Stinger, which was very luxurious so it could fit the CEO’s taste but it could also go from 0 to 60mph within 5 seconds (which was enjoyable for me even though I’ve only got to try it out once).
Then there was the Audi R8, which was a beautiful car. The CEO owned one in black but the one I drove to his meetings was white. Both were amazing finishes. The navigation in this car was amazing though which was the seller for me. If I had enough for this car, I would’ve bought it ages ago.
And lastly, there was the Jaguar XJ 3.0. This car was absolutely beautiful. If I could, I’d marry it but sadly that would just be weird. This car handled curves so well, it made me tear up every time. Driving down even a pebbled road with this car was a smooth ride. It was enjoyable for me and the CEO could finish up some work without being tossed around in the back.
Although this company had lots of amazing cars, they also had more than a handful of bad ones. For instance, the Pontiac G6. This car was ugly. I’m not even going to lie and say that it had some nice points in terms of appearance because it did not. The whole entire interior was plastic and it wasn’t even well designed! The buttons were way too small as well. It’s like a baby designed this car. The drive was okay but I’ve had way better drives. Sometimes the CEO would even complain about how bumpy it would be.
Also, for some reason they had a PT Cruiser? One of the worst, if not the worst car I’ve ever driven. When I would take it to gas stations alone while the CEO was in meetings that I couldn’t go in, it would just stop randomly. I would be at a stoplight and it wouldn’t turn back on. I would be pulling into the gas station and it would just shut off and I would almost get into an accident because of it. And sometimes when I’m on the highway, the car would just randomly honk! I wouldn’t even be anywhere near touching the horn!
Every meeting we went to was always a mystery for me because I didn’t know which car I would get. Today, though, I knew it wouldn’t be good. As soon as I unlocked the car, I knew.
The keys that the doorman gave me belonged to the PT Cruiser.
I groaned, losing my professionalism for a moment before realizing that the CEO was watching. I straightened up, “Sorry, I just don’t like this car.”
“You have favorite cars?”
“Yes. And this one is not on that list. But I will try to make this an easy ride for you so don’t worry.” I said with a small smile, opening the back door for him. He nodded, getting in and closing the door.
While walking over to the drivers side, I let out a whine. I absolutely hated this car! Would it stop on us for no reason today? Would we die?
I started the car and already could feel the engine giving out. Maybe I could just ask the doorman for a different key. But as I reached for the door handle, I caught a glance of the clock, telling me that I didn’t have time to get a different car. If we didn’t leave now we would be late.
I sighed, changing the gear shift into reverse and pulling out of the parking space.
Tumblr media
So far, the ride was nice. It was quiet, as always, and not as bumpy as usual. Of course, there were a few times where my heart jumped out of its cage because I thought we would die, but we didn’t and so I could rest easily.
A stop light occurred and I started to slow down, preparing to stop. As I stopped, I looked in the rear view mirror, “What is the topic of the meeting today?”
“Stocks,” CEO Lin said without even looking up from his tablet. I nodded, looking ahead of us at the light. It was always awkward when I would drive him, which was all the time because it was my job. I would never have anything to say and so I would usually bring up the oncoming meeting because it would be the only thing I could think of. But his answers would always be vague and I would never know how to respond.
I sighed as the light turned green, pressing on the gas pedal. But, like I thought, the time came. The car inched forward, pretending to not be defective, and then the engine sputtered out and the car turned off.
My heart started racing as I tried to press the gas pedal again. The car didn’t move. I quickly turned on my hazard lights, my movements rushed and panicky.
The CEO must’ve picked up that something was wrong, so he asked what was going on. I brushed it off, “Nothing, the car is just acting up.”
“Why is it off?” he asked. I saw his curious expression glancing at me from the rear view mirror.
If I knew, then it wouldn’t be off! “I don’t know but I’ll figure it out.”
His expression faltered for a bit as he sat back in the seat. I took this time to call the administrative staff and tell them what was going on.
“Hey, Y/N!” One of the staff, named Ziyi, greeted me. We were close because his job was the closest to being my assistant. Just without the title.
“Hey Ziyi! Can you call the member of the staff in charge of the cars and tell them that the PT Cruiser broke down?”
“Yeah sure no pro- wait what?!” He exclaimed, “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, it’s fine but the car is a piece of trash—“ I glanced up into the rear view mirror, seeing the CEO curiously gazing at me. I cleared my throat, “— The car is defective so we are going to see if we can get a new one or find some other way to get to the meeting.”
“Okay. I’ll tell them to send a driver down to go get you,” he said before I hung up the phone.
There was a moment of silence which consisted of me fully accepting this situation and the CEO figuring out what to do with this knowledge.
“So the car broke down?” He asked.
I let out a sigh, “Yes, sadly this was out of my control. This car is really old and not very good at its job.”
A pause, “...Which is driving?”
“Yes. Its job is to drive us safely to where we need to go and back. But it failed.” It was quiet after that. I called the stockholders and told them the inevitable news and they told me that we could always reschedule and that it was no problem. Then I thanked them and told them I would send the email for the reschedule when we get back. And then I hung up and took a breath.
It was so quiet, it was making me anxious. I never had to be in this position with the CEO before. All I did was drive him to meetings and show him schedules and stuff. I never had to be stuck in a car with him for more than thirty minutes. What was I supposed to say?!
Maybe five whole, silent minutes passed before something popped into my head.
“Have you eaten yet?” I almost pat myself on the back for this one!
“Yes.”
Annnd my confidence shattered. I nodded awkwardly, glancing at him from the rear view mirror. He was looking down at his tablet, like always, and wasn’t paying my awkward mood any mind.
I sighed, looking forward again, but before I could finish the sigh, CEO Lin spoke up, “Have you?”
I was so shocked that he made an attempt to keep the conversation going that it took me a few seconds before his words registered. I made eye contact with him through the mirror and shook my head to get back on track, “Uh, no. I haven’t yet. But I usually eat when you go to the meetings.”
“That’s a shame then, since I won’t be able to make it to the meeting. There’s a cafe down the street though, not that far,” he said, looking back down, “If you’re hungry then I suggest going there. You could probably get there in five or so minutes. I’ll pay for it.”
“I- uh-“ I was speechless, “Thank you. I guess I’ll be back in a few minutes then.” He nodded, handing me his card, “Do you want anything?”
He looked up at me, and for the first time in my whole entire life, I saw him smile. A real one. At me. And holy moly, he had dimples, oh my god-
“I’m fine. I’ve had my fair share of sweets today.”
Tumblr media
I walked back to the car with the bag in hand. Despite him saying he had enough sweets, I still bought him something. A coffee, not sweet though because he didn’t like his coffee sweet.
I opened the door, setting the things in the passengers seat and looking back to check and see if he was okay.
I was met with his brown eyes staring back at mine.
He flashed a small smile, but quickly went back to normal as his eyes looked down to my hands, “You’re back so soon. What did you buy?”
“I bought a croissant and some coffee. I actually bought the coffee for you. I figured you’d need it.”
“Thank you.” He said as I handed him the coffee. He took a sip, nodding, “It tastes amazing.”
I smiled softly before turning back around and starting on my croissant. As I was eating, I started to think.
‘I’ve had my fair share of sweets’ but I haven’t seen him get any sort of sweets. And my desk is right outside of his office.
So he either has a secret stash that I don’t know about or he’s covering up the fact that he has diabetes and he can’t eat sweets.
I furrowed my brows as my teeth sunk into the treat. I’ve never seen him eat sweets for that matter. Every time I would make his coffee, it was always bitter. He even sent it back once when someone made it sweet.
He doesn’t like sweets.
So what was he talking about?
“By the way,” he started. I directed my attention to his face in the mirror. He was looking at his coffee cup, “You look really pretty today.”
The croissant I was chewing nearly found its way down my throat on its own. I choked and he looked up.
“Are you okay?”
I nodded, quicker than I ever have before which probably would’ve broke my neck if I continued, “Um, thank you. For the compliment. I don’t really know what to say because you always look good so—“
Wait. Did I just—?
“Thank you,” he responded, confirming the fact that I did, indeed, say that. Wow, where was my brain? “I didn’t mean it to say you don’t always look good though. Today you are just extra beautiful.”
I was so glad I wasn’t eating at that moment because I probably would’ve choked to death. He thought I was pretty? No— not just pretty— beautiful.
“Thank you, CEO Lin.” I said in the calmest way I could. On the inside though, my heart was racing. CEO Lin was, by far, the cutest person at the company. But cute is even an understatement. So to hear him say that I was beautiful was very... nice, to say the least.
I heard him sigh, “Well, since the meeting is now canceled and we are basically stranded until administration gets here, would you like to go somewhere with me?”
“Like where?”
“Maybe the park down the street,” He smiled at me through the rear view mirror, “As a date? And please, call me Yanjun.”
Tumblr media
Walking side by side with the CEO— I mean Yanjun— wasn’t very new for me. But doing this as a date was. Unlike I thought, he actually had a lot to say. He was asking me a lot of questions about my life and how I like the job, hobbies, things I like to do at home. Basically, normal questions for getting to know someone. But it wasn’t boring like I would’ve thought, It was nice.
And then I remembered. And I stopped.
He stopped and looked back at me, “You okay?”
“Yeah, I just remembered something.”
He smiled, “What did you remember?”
“Earlier today you said that you had your fair share of sweets today. What did you mean?” I asked, my eyebrow raising a bit. He looked at me with a curious gaze before it went away. Now was the time where I would figure out if he had diabetes or not.
But what I wasn’t expecting was that he would start laughing, “Oh that! You want to know what that was about?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty curious because I never see you eating sweets.”
He smiled, walking up to me, “Just being around you is sweet enough for me.”
beautiful group of people, i will love them forever
Someone decided to put mistletoe all over the school as a sick sort of joke, and you’ve just been shoved under a clump of the stuff by your conniving “friends.” Who are you supposed to kiss, you might ask? Well, your friends are eyeing a certain someone walking down the hall…
- - -
“So anyway, he -” You stop short, glowering at your friends as they immediately look away from each other, looking suspiciously innocent. “Alright, that’s it, what’s wrong with you all?” you snap. “You’ve been like this for the past two days!”
“Like what?” Dinghao asks a little too innocently.
“Yeah, I wasn’t aware that we were acting differently at all,” Huafei chimes in.
You huff, trying to formulate your jumbled thoughts into words. “You don’t pay attention to me when I talk, you’re always whispering with Linkai and his little gang, you keep giving me those strange looks - how can you say you’re not acting differently?!”
There’s a beat of silence.
Then someone grabs your arms and holds them hostage behind your back.
“What the fuck?” you snap, violently twisting. “Let me go, dumbass!”
“Uh-uh-uh,” Dinghao sings, looking very, very gleeful. Next to him, Huafei and Ruotian stifle giggles, while you struggle even harder. “What the hell is going on!” you yell, attracting quite a lot of attention.
Jingzuo looks upwards, smirking, and you follow his gaze, eyes widening in horror as you take in the small plant that hangs from the ceiling.
“Oh hell no,” you mutter, shaking your head wildly. “No, no, no, no, no! Gao Maotong, get your stupid hands off of me, or so help me I’ll -”
Then someone slams into you and Maotong releases your arms, allowing you to collapse in a heap on the floor. Disgruntled and feeling extremely murderous, you grit your teeth and look up, ready to chew your friends out.
Instead, you see an outstretched hand. Your eyes travel upwards, taking in dark clothes, a leather jacket, and then…
Oh my god.
You meet eyes with your crush of two years, Wang Ziyi.
It takes a couple of seconds to force yourself to calm down, and though you want nothing more than to run away screaming, you accept his hand, allowing him to help pull you up. You try really hard to look at his face, but it’s so hard - the whole situation is just so absurd. You drop his hand as soon as you can.
“Sorry,” he says in that low voice of his, giving you that soft smile that never fails to turn you into an absolute train wreck. “My friends pushed me.” He shrugs apologetically.
“I - uh, it’s fine,” you say quickly, willing the growing heat to leave your face. “I’ve gotta go, but -”
“You have nowhere to go!” Huafei snaps. “Don’t lie to Ziyi!”
If your face wasn’t red before, now it is. You shoot her a furious glare.
What in the world are you doing?! you scream internally, hoping she gets the message.
“Y/N?” Ziyi’s voice snaps your attention back to him. “I… I think I know why they put us here.”
You squeeze your eyes shut, cursing each and every single one of your so-called friends. “Yeah,” you reply, your voice tight. “Sorry. My friends are stupid. I - it’s cool if you, uh, if you don’t want to, I totally get it, I wouldn’t want to kiss me either, sorry about everything, this is all a mess, I swear I had no part in planning this -”
“Hey, hey, hold up,” Ziyi says, taking your hand again. You flinch at the suddenness of his gesture but otherwise manage to remain neutral.
His next words, however, have you shell-shocked.
“Who said I didn’t want to kiss you?”
Total silence.
“Sorry?”
His stupid, gentle smile is on his lips again and you can’t think at all. “I asked who said I didn’t want to kiss you.”
“I - I thought - I thought we were just friends?” you squeak. “I, uh, since when…” You let out a little huff. “What the hell?”
Ziyi’s little laugh is even more addicting than his smile. He leans in a little closer, and you can feel his breath puffing slightly on your face.
“You wouldn’t mind, would you, if I kissed you now?” he asks, ignoring the gasps and hoots of the crowd watching.
“For tradition or because you like me?” you manage to spit out.
A shy blush flits across Ziyi’s cheeks and you almost melt. “Because I like you.”
The smile that overtakes your lips is shaky but genuine and you feel like you’re on cloud nine. “Then, no, I wouldn’t mind,” you reply.
His lips press against yours, and your mind goes blank. You can register only the feeling of his lips on yours, his fingers clutching your hands, his hair tickling your cheek. You cannot hear the cheers of your friends, the squeals of the crowd, the claps of the audience. It’s like Ziyi is your entire world.
When he pulls away, cheeks flushed red, you seize on your temporary insanity and wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him close again.
“Remind me to kill my friends later,” you murmur, and you just hear the beginnings of his gentle laugh before you press another kiss to his lips.
. . . . .
Why did your best friend decide to put mistletoe all over the school as a joke? You don’t know. Why did you go along with it? You don’t know. All you know is that you didn’t expect to accidentally stumble under a bunch of it with said best friend. It isn’t just the cold that’s turning your cheeks red, now.
- - -
“How did this happen?” you ask, not looking at your best friend for fear of him seeing your blush. “Why are we so fucking dumb?”
Linkai snorts. “I don’t know about you, but I’m not dumb.”
“Oh yeah? Then who was the one that first walked under the mistletoe?” you snap.
“And who was the one that didn’t realize and walked under after me?” he retorts.
You cross your arms. “Fine,” you groan. “So are you going to kiss me? Or are we just going to walk away and pretend this didn’t happen?”
On one hand, you want him to agree to the second so your feelings for him stay hidden forever. On the other hand, you want him to agree to the first so you can fulfill one of your dreams.
“Tradition is tradition,” Linkai mutters, refusing to look at your face. You can see the pink tinting his cheeks though and for the first time, you think your feelings might be returned.
“Since when have you been a traditional kid?” you push, forcing him to look up. “Never. So how come you’re relying on tradition now?”
The tiny smirk he throws you gives you a heart attack. “Because… maybe I like you?”
You blink once. Then twice.
“Only ‘maybe?’”
A real blush spreads across Linkai’s face and you can see how much effort it’s taking for him to look into your eyes. Understandable, because you want nothing more than to duck and run away into the crowd that’s forming as well.
“Fine. I definitely like you,” he mumbles, ruffling his hair.
You smile a little. “Good, because I like you too.”
Amidst cheers and hoots, you press a short kiss to his lips, leaving the usually confident boy speechless. Then, suddenly, he regains his confidence and pull you to him for a deeper kiss.
Most of the time, Linkai’s mischief gets him into trouble. At least this time, something good came of it.
You smile into his lips.
. . . . .
Holiday season means holiday shopping, no? You hate shopping, but when you come face to face with that cute sales guy you’ve had a crush on for a long time… well, maybe your sentiments will change now that you’ve seen him decked out in holiday gear, looking stupidly, absolutely adorable.
- - -
The bus is full of people, and you curse your stupid, procrastinating self for leaving Christmas shopping for the last minute.
Christmas shopping is a bore.
With a tired sigh, you squeeze onto a seat. You can practically smell the sweat and heat radiating off of the people and you crinkle your nose up with another sigh.
Then, your brain decides it’s the best time to cut in with a stupid thought.
Hey, shopping isn’t that bad. You might get to see that cute sales guy!
You really hope no one sees the blush crawling up your cheeks. If anything, hopefully they’ll think it’s the residual cold.
Cai Xukun is literally the cutest guy you have ever met. He is drop dead gorgeous but down to earth and mellow at the same time. His smile is blinding, his eyes are sweet, his laugh is beautiful… there is literally nothing not to love about the boy.
“And here I am, thinking like a lovestruck thirteen year old,” you mutter, making room for another person as they squeeze by. The bus rattles and belches a cloud of smoke, then rattles away.
You sigh.
It’s going to be a long day even if I do get to see Xukun.
- - -
Ten stores later, you’ve found almost all of your gifts. Your wallet is about to start sobbing, your feet are about to start screaming, and you are about to sag into a tired puddle on the floor.
“One more to go,” you mumble, looking with trepidation at the fancy storefront.
Nine Percent. Your best friend’s favorite clothing store. They have some of the most outrageous items but at least the prices are fair.
Also the place where - guess who - Cai Xukun works.
You drag your sorry self into the store.
“Hello, welcome! Can I help you today?” a cheery-faced boy with a bright smile asks chirpily the second you walk inside.
It’s not Xukun. You hope the disappointment doesn’t show on your face as you give him a slight smile. “No thanks,” you reply. “Just looking.”
“Christmas shopping?” he asks, looking sympathetic. You allow a sardonic smile to show itself before nodding. “Yeah.”
“Shit, sorry,” he laughs. “But let me know if you need any help!”
“I will, thanks.”
The store is huge, but it doesn’t take much effort to find the section your friend loves since you’ve been here so many times. You drop your bags, rubbing your aching hands, before perusing the racks. Minutes later, you’ve found something, and after checking the size you back to the front of the store to pay.
Then your brain short circuits, because your stupid crush is manning the counter. He’s got a stupid little Santa hat on with a stupid green woolen sweater, and he looks like… boyfriend material. There is no other way to put it.
Suddenly, you care a little too much about the knots in your hair, the bags under your eyes that you haven’t bothered to cover up, your oversized hoodie that now seems too casual for this. You want to at least pat down your hair, but then you’d probably knock your bags everywhere, and you don’t want to look stupider than you already do. So you steel yourself and walk up to the counter.
“Hi!” Xukun says with his bright smile. Your heart thumps. “Ready to pay?”
You nod. “Yeah,” you say quickly, pushing the clothing over.
There’s silence as he rings up the items and places them into a bag. You jab your card into the machine and look down determinedly because you are absolutely sure your cheeks are bright red.
“Are you okay? Your face is really red.”
Fuck.
“I’m fine.” You give him an awkward smile. “It’s just… the cold outside.”
The little smirk he gives you as he hands the bag over gives you a heart attack. “I see. Well, have a nice day! Happy holidays!”
What the fuck does that smirk mean?
“Thanks, you too!” you squeak before bolting out of the store.
Outside, the cold air cools your cheeks and after trudging a few streets, you sit down at the bus stop. With a sigh of relief as the pressure is taken off of your aching feet, you take out the receipt from your latest bag to stuff inside your wallet.
What’s on the receipt nearly gives you a second heart attack.
Hey, one of my friends told me you think I’m cute. Well, I think you’re cute too. Here’s my number, text me sometime, alright?
XXX-XXX-XXXX
A strangled sort of screech leaves your throat, causing more than a few concerned looks to be thrown your way, but you’re too busy staring at the receipt to care.
Once you’re settled on the bus, you take out your phone with trembling fingers and input the number. After agonizing over the text for several minutes, you settle for “Hey, you gave me your number on my receipt. Are you sure it wasn’t a mistake?”
One minute passes, then two, then three.
Read.
Typing…
No mistakes were made. I’m Xukun, but I’m sure you know that.
I hope you are Y/N?
You’re almost hyperventilating.
Yeah, I am.
He responds quickly.
Great. Want to go out for coffee sometime? My treat!
It takes all your effort not to scream out loud, but as you type out your answer with a smile on your face, you can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, Christmas shopping isn’t so bad.
. . . . .
You’ve always wanted to be kissed in the rain, thinking that it’s the ultimate romantic gesture. Well, there isn’t any rain, but maybe snow will do.
- - -
“Why do you love rain?” Linong asks, shivering in the cold. He’s wearing a huge coat and has a scarf wrapped around his neck, while you only have a warm sweater. “Rain is so… cold.”
“But what about when the sun is out while it’s raining? Then it’s warm rain, and it’s like… fun! You can jump around in the rain!” You grin, whirling around with your arms out. “Plus, you’re so tall and fit. How come you’re still cold? It’s just a little snow!”
Linong shrugs, burrowing further into his scarf. “It’s still snow,” he mumbles.
Rolling your eyes, you grab his hand. “Warmer?”
You can see the blush on his cheeks despite his efforts to hide it. “Come on, we’ve been dating for nearly six months, Nong!”
The kiss you press on his cheek seems to increase the blush. “Warm now? That’s what your face is telling me.”
“Stop teasing,” Linong complains.
“What if I don’t want to?” You smile teasingly, squeezing his hand a little tighter.
“So you want to continue teasing? How about I ask you about your fantasy of being kissed in the rain?” Linong tosses back, finally pulling his face out of his scarf.
Suddenly, your face feels warm. Much warmer than before. “How - how do you know about that?” you squeak.
“You shouldn’t leave scribbles in the margins of your chemistry notebook,” he smirks.
Noted.
“Dammit,” you mutter. You can’t even be mad because you were the one who lent the notebook to him.
“I mean, I could help you with that,” Linong mumbles, looking away. His face is red again.
You look up at the sky, almost getting a face full of snow. “There’s no rain…?”
“Snow’s suitable though, right? Until we actually get some rain?” Linong asks, looking adorably awkward. You blush too, but you also place your other hand in his.
“Of course it is,” you say, leaning up.
The falling snow swirls around your faces, resting on your hair, his scarf, and both yours and his cheeks as Linong presses his lips to yours in one of the sweetest kisses you’ve ever shared.
. . . . .
Baking cookies? Not such a good idea when your friends decide to come over and wreak havoc in the kitchen.
When you suggested baking cookies with Justin, you didn’t expect him to be this much of a mess.
“Even Linkai can follow directions!” you scold, taking the dough out of Justin’s hand. “And stop eating it, you could get sick!”
“But then I’d have you to nurse me back to health,” Justin points out.
“You’re learning too much from Lin Yanjun!” you snap, whirling around with the bowl. Your boyfriend just snakes an arm around your waist as he licks another bit of dough off of his finger.
“Huang Minghao!” you yell, snatching the bowl away from him. “Stop eating the dough or there will be no cookies for you!”
His eyes widen in mock terror and he backs away, raising his hands in surrender. “Okay, okay!”
You sigh. “Didn’t you bet Zhengting that if you could get through a baking session without breaking anything, you’d choose what he had to wear on his next date?”
Justin nods eagerly, and you have to stop your heart from melting at the sight of the sparkle in his eyes. “Yeah! I’m going to make him wear that stupid gag gift Chengcheng sent me.”
“Jesus,” you say, spreading the dough out. “What did he ever do to you? No one should have to wear a sweater that ugly.”
Your boyfriend just shrugs.
“I’m dating an evil idiot,” you mutter, taking out the cookie cutters. “Here. Let’s cut the dough, and then after the cookies are baked we can decorate them, alright?”
“The best part!” Justin cheers.
“You better not eat all of the frosting,” you warn. “The cookies are already enough sugar for you!”
He sticks out his tongue. “No amount of sugar is enough sugar for Justin!”
“If you keep saying stupid stuff, I’m going to kiss you to shut you up.”
“Then I guess I better keep saying stupid stuff -”
Justin’s lips taste like cookie dough. As much as you hate to say it, the sweet flavor is appealing.
“Stop with the stupidity, Justin,” you say when you break away, leaving the boy somewhat shell-shocked and red-faced. “Now help me clear up. Don’t break anything, or else Zhengting’s going to make you wear that sweater to the Yuehua party!”
You eventually clean everything and get the cookies decorated without Justin breaking anything, but not before he sneaks in about a half dozen more kisses.
. . . . .
Your neighbor just walked out wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater you’ve ever seen. You think your eyes are bleeding, but somehow, he still looks… kind of cute.
- - -
“So, Zhengting,” you say amiably, hoping your eyes aren’t too wide with horror, “why are you wearing what you are wearing?”
Justin cackles from inside the apartment and you stifle a smirk. “Was it Justin’s fault?”
Zhengting sighs, eyes narrowed with disdain and helplessness. “Yeah,” he grumbles. “Lost a bet, so now I have to wear this shitty sweater Chengcheng sent him.”
“I hope Chengcheng got that as a gag gift, and not as a real gift,” you say, looking Zhengting up and down. “Ooookay, that’s it, that’s enough, my eyes are bleeding. I can’t look at you anymore. Take that thing off!”
“He’s not allowed!” Justin yells.
“You better let him change, Huang Minghao, or so help me I’ll return every single one of your Christmas gifts this year!” you yell back. “We can’t go on a date like this!”
“Yes you can!”
Zhengting sighs. “Let the kid have his fun,” he says resignedly, giving you a half smile. “It’s almost Christmas.”
“What happened to my strict boyfriend who didn’t put up with shit from Justin?” you gasp in mock surprise.
“He disappeared. Now let’s go out,” he says, taking your hand. “Before Justin thinks of something even worse for you to wear.”
You snort. “He wouldn’t dare. Also, why is this sweater so scratchy?”
“Fan Chengcheng is the worst.” Zhengting shrugs.
“Well, it if helps, you still look kinda cute.” You give your boyfriend a wide smile. He just laughs.
“You look kinda cute too, I guess.”
. . . . .
Every year, you and your neighbor compete over who has the best Christmas decorations outside your house. It isn’t friendly competition. Last year, the kids were flocking over to your neighbor’s house, oohing and aahing over their sparkly lights, and this year, you’re determined not to lose.
- - -
“My decorations are better than yours this year,” you say smugly, watching the kids on your street stand transfixed by the sparkling lights.
Zhangjing huffs. “As if,” he mutters, looking salty.
“It’s the truth, Zhangjing.” You grin. “You just don’t want to admit it.”
Sweet, sweet victory. After two years of losing to your insufferable neighbor over your informal Christmas decoration competition… well, all you can say is victory is sweet.
The red and green lights illuminate Zhangjing’s sulky face and you have the sudden urge to pat his head like you would a small, whiny toddler. “Don’t be so sulky,” you coo.
“I’m not sulky!” Zhangjing snaps.
“Yes, you are. Also, it’s really cold now. Shouldn’t you be inside your house?” You look at him quizzically. “Why are you still out here?”
A small blush flits across Zhangjing’s cheeks. “Locked myself out,” he mumbles.
“You are a grown man, and you still managed to lock yourself out?” You snicker.
Zhangjing does not deign to reply.
“I can try to pick your lock,” you offer once your laughter subsides.
“Pick my lock?!”
You shrug. “Yeah. I used to be pretty good at picking locks until my friends forced me to stop.”
“For good reason,” Zhangjing mutters. “But yeah. You can give it a shot.”
“Cool, let’s go!” you cheer, fishing out a little bag of lock-picking tools from your pocket.
“Why do you have those in your pocket?”
You just grin in response.
- - -
You wiggle the pick inside the lock for a few seconds before looking up. “How come we do this every year? This stupid competition?”
Wind whistles through the air as Zhangjing does not respond.
“It’s weird,” you say, turning back to the lock. “No one ever put up lights on this block before I moved in. How come you did?”
Zhangjing mumbles something completely inaudible.
“What?”
“Yanjunmight’vesaidsomethingaboutgettingchristmaslightssothatyouwouldactuallynoticemebecauseithoughtyouwerecute.”
You blink. “What?”
Zhangjing huffs and smacks his head. “Why did I say anything,” he mumbles.
“Why’s your face so red?” you ask.
“It’s cold out!” he snaps defensively.
“My face isn’t that red… is it?” You shrug. “Anyway, didn’t catch what you said. Just Yanjun, Christmas lights, and… cute?”
A sigh of defeat rushes past your ear as you wiggle the lock pick around again. “When you moved in, I thought you were cute, so Yanjun suggested I get Christmas decorations to get your attention. And then it just evolved into some weird competition. Happy?”
“Uh, no?” you snap, standing back up. “If I’d known you thought I was cute, I would’ve asked you out like, two years ago!”
Dead silence. There isn’t even wind.
“In that case, unless you don’t think I’m cute anymore, I think we should go on a date tomorrow,” you say decisively, turning back to the lock. “I’ll come over at two!”
Snick. The lock opens. “And now your house is unlocked,” you say proudly. “I’ll see you tomorrow!”
The kiss you then press to his cheek leaves Zhangjing speechless.
. . . . .
You love winter, but winter hates you. Every year you get horrible seasonal allergies, complete with a stuffy nose, sneezes, and a rasping cough that drives away everyone within a fifty-foot radius. The only person who cares to stay near is your best friend, which is a little bit of an issue considering you have a sort of kind of massive crush on them.
- - -
“Toss me into a fire,” you mumble, sounding like you’ve got dirt in the back of your throat. “Everything hurts and I’m cold.”
No one hears you, of course. You’re alone.
“And now I’m talking to myself like the dumb, sick, idiot I am,” you mutter. “No wonder no one wants to be around me.”
And of course you’re being overdramatic again.
It’s not that no one wants to be around you normally. It’s just that no one wants to be around your germy, snotty, allergy-ridden self.
Winter is fun. Winter is great. Winter is awesome. You love winter, because it means presents, joy, snow, and time spent with loved ones.
But winter hates you. It always gifts you a stuffy nose and a loud, headache-inducing sneeze-cough that always comes just in time for the holidays, leaving you knocked out at home, taking multiple allergy medications in the hopes that you’ll be better in time for Christmas.
A loud sneeze racks your body, followed by a volley of coughs, and then you sink under your covers again. You sigh as deeply as you can without killing your throat.
Then someone knocks on the door.
Two seconds later, your phone buzzes.
Fan Chengcheng, December 12, 3:00 pm
Open the door!
You blink once, then twice. Why is Chengcheng here? When it’s clear you’re sick and dying?
You, December 12, 3:02 pm
are you trying to get yourself sick
Fan Chengcheng, December 12, 3:02 pm
Allergies aren’t contagious idiot
You, December 12, 3:03 pm
ya but the germs in my snot probably are
He just sends back a puking emoji followed by ‘just open the goddamn door.’
“God help me,” you mutter, rolling out of bed. You’ve wrapped your blanket around you like a burrito and you remain huddled in it, teeth chattering as you trudge through the cold apartment.
“Get inside,” you sniffle, shoving the tall boy inside before slamming the door shut. Even then, some of the cold seeps in, and you shiver underneath your blanket.
Chengcheng sets a bag down on your coffee table and raises an eyebrow. “I didn’t think you’d look this bad,” he says offhandedly.
A scowl spreads across your face. “If I wasn’t so sick, I’d punch you,” you rasp.
“Yeah, I know.” He sticks out his tongue. “But you are sick, so I have immunity. Well, for now.”
Huffing, you stomp on his foot, making him yelp more so in surprise than pain. “I’m going back to bed,” you mumble. “Do whatever you want, just don’t invite anyone over and don’t break anything. And don’t complain tomorrow if you wake up unable to breathe through a stuffy nose.”
There’s a beat of silence, and then Chengcheng lifts you up, and you let out a strangled noise of surprise and embarrassment. Your face is hot and you pray that you can put it down to allergies if Chengcheng asks.
“Put me down!” you yell, the end of your command turning into a hacking cough.
“In your condition?” Chengcheng counters, nearly slamming your head into the doorframe. “No way.”
He almost knocks you into your bedroom wall. “You’re trying to kill me!” you snap.
“I would never!” he gasps, affronted, dumping you unceremoniously on the bed and placing a hand on his chest.
With effort, you roll over, covering yourself in the blanket. “Good night,” you mumble.
Chengcheng laughs, a small, quiet laugh that’s so uncharacteristic of his usual boisterous self that you’re confused for a moment. And then the bed dips as he settles on the mattress, and his hand goes to rest in your hair, and you really want to tell him to stop or he’ll get sick but the feeling is so soothing and calming that you really don’t want him to stop.
“Go to sleep,” he murmurs, carding a hand through your hair. “You’ll feel better.”
As you drift into dreamworld, you hear a faint murmur.
“If only we could stay like this forever.”
You want to answer, but sleep claims you before you can.
. . . . .
Presents are a must at Christmas time, no? But no matter what you get this year, there’s only one thing you really want: you want him to come home.
- - -
“Still moping?” Zhangjing asks, sighing through the phone.
You roll over in bed. “Leave me alone,” you mumble, words muffled by the pillow. “Let me mope in peace.”
“Do you want to come over and see my Christmas lights?” he offers.
“Thanks, but I’ll pass. Are you still having that competition with your neighbor?”
“About that…” Zhangjing coughs. “We’re kind of dating now?”
“WHAT?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME?! I WANT ALL OF THE DETAILS!”
“I’ll tell you when I come over, just please stop screaming,” he begs.
“Fine. Her lights were better than yours though last time I saw,” you joke.
“That’s it, I’m never speaking to you again,” Zhangjing huffs. You can hear him shuffling things around on his end.
“No, no, I’m sorry, Zhangjing,” you relent, rolling over again. Silence takes over the call and your smile slips off of your face as you remember who isn’t coming home.
On the other end, Zhangjing curses. “Damn you, Lin Yanjun,” he complains. “Can’t even come home to be with your girlfriend for Christmas.”
“Be quiet, he’s just busy. And I’m just being an overdramatic idiot. I’ll get over it,” you assure him. The skeptical silence that follows tells you that Zhangjing is not reassured.
“Alright, enough of this. I’m coming over with some of the boys. Chengcheng can’t come though, his friend is sick and he’s taking care of her,” Zhangjing says in his no-nonsense voice. “I have cookies and we’ll cook and then we’re going to binge watch TV shows, got it?”
A slow smile spreads across your lips. “Thanks, Zhangjing.”
- - -
Once laughter is bouncing off of your walls, you don’t feel so lonely anymore. Justin’s and Linkai’s screams fill the rooms, and you find yourself smiling more widely than you thought you would.
“Feeling better?” Zhangjing asks over the yells in the kitchen. You nod and grin.
Soon, all the food is cooked and your tiny coffee table is creaking under the weight of all the dishes. The younger kids attack it all with a vengeance, though they’re sure to leave enough food for the “oldies.”
(“Who are you calling old?” Zhengting’s girlfriend snaps.
“Not you!” Justin yelps.)
You simply sit on the couch, watching from a distance. Seeing them all so happy warms your heart but at the same time, it just makes you remember who isn’t here.
“Dammit, Lin Yanjun,” you whisper, the smile slipping off your face.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Ziyi asks worriedly from across the room, trying to pick his way along the floor while Justin and Linkai wrestle wildly. At his words, though, they immediately stop, looking at you with wide eyes.
“I think Y/N needs a hug!” Justin announces, launching himself onto you. Linkai follows suit and you groan under their weight. “Help…”
Instead of them getting pulled off, though, more weight piles on, and pretty soon you’re buried under a mound of people. A tired sigh escapes your lips but at least you’re smiling. “Get off me!” you yell playfully. “I can’t breathe!”
In the second of silence that follows your declaration, there’s a loud knock on your door, followed by the doorbell.
“Who’s that?” you ask, wriggling out of the pile. “You think someone’s lost?”
“Maybe,” Ziyi says, shrugging. “I’ll go check.”
“Don’t get murdered on Christmas,” Justin quips.
“Murdered?” Linong asks worriedly.
“Joking, Nong, I’m joking.”
“Y/N, it’s something for you!” Ziyi yells.
Your eyebrows wrinkle in confusion. “I thought packages weren’t delivered on Christmas?” you mumble to yourself.
“‘Something?’ What am I, not a human?”
You freeze.
“Y/N?” Ziyi pokes his head out of the corner to see you frozen. “Oh, there you are.”
“Is he actually here?” you squeak. “Like… I didn’t imagine that just now, right?”
Ziyi smiles. “He’s actually here.”
Two seconds later, you’ve knocked Yanjun into the doorframe with the force of your hug, but none of that matters because he’s home.
“Damn you,” you say, your words muffled by his jacket. “I hate you, Lin Yanjun!”
“I love you too, Y/N,” he says, patting your back. “Now can I come inside? It’s really cold out.”
You let him stumble inside and shut the door before wrapping him in a hug again. “I’m not letting you go,” you mumble.
“Not even to let me kiss you?” your boyfriend asks amusedly.
“Fine, I will make one exception.”
“KISS! KISS!”
“Remind me to slap Justin when this is over,” you say, letting Yanjun go briefly. He takes off his jacket and pulls you to him again as your arms go around his neck. He looks into your eyes with all the love in the world, and then he kisses you.
“I love you,” you murmur when you break away for air, “and I’m so glad you came back.”
“I love you too,” Yanjun says breathlessly before pulling you in again. “Merry Christmas, my love.”
Let’s watch you and your friends on TV! (Cai Xukun x Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Cai Xukun x Reader
Genre: fluff
Summary: you decide to watch Nine Percent on Happy Camp with your boyfriend Cai Xukun :)
Word Count: 2,150
A/N: English isn’t my first language, I want to apologize for any mistakes. Feel free to correct all the mistakes I made!
~Admin A
“Come on, it’s gonna start in 5 minutes!” you giggled, dragging Cai Xukun, your boyfriend, with you to your couch. You two started dating over a year ago and you could proudly call yourself his biggest fan. “I don’t understand why you want to watch this episode of ‘Happy Camp’ with me…” he said, sounding annoyed, but you knew that he secretly liked to show you his work, even if it was just an episode of happy camp with him and his members. “Oh come on! I know that you want to watch it, too!” you laughed, turning on the TV. Both of you sat down on your couch, cuddling onto each other, when the show started. You tried to remain silent because you knew of your bad habit of talking during films or shows, but you couldn’t help yourself when you started cooing over the cute little boys dancing to ‘Ei Ei’. It was just too cute and you wondered, if your boyfriend also used to be so cute when he was around 10 years old. You really had to ask his mother for more baby pictures of Kunkun…
~*~
“Stop it Xukun! You exactly knew how many poor girls would have a heart attack after this performance… I have the feeling that all of Nine Percent know exactly how handsome they are and this is not good for us fans!” you scolded Xukun jokingly after you saw the band perform ‘Mack Daddy’. “So you say that everyone looks good? Or is there one who caught your attention?” Kunkun smiled, waiting for you to praise his good looks. But you wouldn’t make it so easy for him… “Lin Yanjun was extremely handsome in this performance.” you replied with a smug grin. This wasn’t what your boyfriend wanted to hear, so he started pouting. “Oh come on, you know that you are the prettiest boy in the world for me…” you tried to comfort him with a little peck on the cheek. “You’re cute when you pout.” Your boyfriend started to smile again. „I know. That’s why I do it.” Now it was his turn to grin and your turn to pout. Until he started to tickle you and you almost fell down from the sofa, laughing. After this, he decided to lift you on his lap, so you won’t fall down again. And he actually felt a bit cuddly at the moment. But this is something he wouldn’t dare to tell you, because he knew, you would mock him for this information for the whole evening.
~*~
“So wait. Your next task was to flirt?” You couldn’t really believe it and you also failed to hold back your laughter again. “No, we had to act these scenes from different dramas…” Xukun replied while rolling his eyes, which you couldn’t see, because you still sat in his lap. “Well, these scenes were all different love confessions, so you kinda had to flirt with the camera?” you laughed. This show was hilarious! And it was so funny to see how fast the members got shy when they had to confess to the camera. Okay, everyone except Yanjun maybe, but flirting was something like his hobby, you guessed.
~*~
“You did not just confess to your fans? Cai Xukun, do I have to remind you that you have a girlfriend who is sitting right here with you?” you started to pout again. It seemed like you were only able to laugh or pout this evening. This idea almost made you laugh again, but this time you had to stay strong. But Xukun made it even harder for you when he started hugging you from the back. He knew that you loved back hugs. It always gave you goose bumps and send chills down your spine. You cursed inwardly, he knew you far too well. “Are you jealous, my Babygirl?” he whispered in your ear, his lips almost touching your ear. “n-no….” You tried to breath steadily, but your heart was almost jumping out of your chest. You blushed. Of course you knew that he only loved you, but you sometimes still had a problem with him flirting with others although it was also a part of his personality. Being a gentleman and being very flirty. “Baby, I know that you are jealous, don’t try to deny it” he chuckled. Suddenly he placed a kiss behind your earlobe, which made you whimper. He knew that you were very sensitive at this spot! “At our closest moment, I was only 0.01 cm away from her. 57 hours later, I fell in love with this woman…” he whispered and continued to kiss your neck. “At least you still know your original lines.” you tried to distract yourself from your boyfriend, “Come on, let’s keep watching!”. Xukun started to pout (he wasn’t finished with you!) but let go of your neck and rested his head on your shoulder to continue watching ‘Happy Camp’ with you.
~*~
“I think your crush on Xie Na is really cute!” you chuckled. First he wrote about her on his Weibo and now he protected her from the punishment. Xukun blushed. “I-I don’t have a crush on her!” he whined but you only continued to laugh. “I would even share you with her, she is an angel. Okay no, I would never share you with someone else!” “I hope so… I wouldn’t share you with someone either…” your boyfriend said and tried to tickle you again, but remembered the first time when you almost fell down on the ground and held you only tighter. “Kunkun, I need to breathe!” you laughed. “Sorry Babygirl” he mumbled into your neck and gave you an apologizing peck on the cheek.
~*~
“You know that you have a beautiful voice, Kun? Can you please sing more often?” you begged after hearing him singing ‘my Babygirl’ on the show. You already heared him singing this song multiple times, but his singing voice still managed to amaze you. It was almost a pity that he usually preferred to rap (although his rap voice was hella sexy)… “For you I can always sing” he smiled, but you still sat on his lap so you couldn’t see his smile. You turned around to face him and smiled. “You’re too cute. And so cheesy!” you chuckled and leaned in to peck him on his lips. But he had other intentions and tried to deepen the kiss. Under other circumstances you would have allowed him to do this, but today you were watching ‘Happy Camp’ together and it still wasn’t over. “Sorry Kunkun, but the show isn’t over yet” you said with an apologetic smile. Xukun sighed and continued watching the program with you. But he would get what he wanted sooner or later…
~*~
“Where did you get that flexible, Kunkun?” you asked while turning your head towards Xukun. Seeing him jumping onto these pads looked quite sexy. Hell, how did he manage to look sexy hanging from a horizontal bar? How did he manage to look sexy with everything he was doing??? And you were sure you weren’t the only one to notice that his shirt showed his abs for a few seconds. Jesus, all the fangirls who were having heart attacks because of this…. You tried to avoid this thought, but it was true. There were many girls who were thirsty over your boyfriend, but he chose you instead of the other girls. And this made you feel proud. “Don’t know, maybe the dance lessons? Maybe even the basketball training back in school?” he joked, placing a kiss on your nose. “You’re kind of an athlete, aren’t you?” you answered laughing, but also blushing from the sweet kiss. He only kissed your nose and you started to look like a tomato… You turned your head back to the TV to avoid that Xukun saw you blushing, but he only started to chuckle “You’re cute when you blush…”
~*~
“Okay now I really have to say that I love the bromance you are having with your other members! It’s so cute of you to always help them….” “The task was to help them get onto that wall, we all helped each other to get up there.” “I know, but it was so cute that you decided to go up as the last one!” you said, cooing over your boyfriend. He should really learn to be more proud of himself. But actually you liked how he always cared for others and always tried to help. So you didn’t mind. Xukun only sighed and watched the end of the show with you. “Wait, they are going to show the unaired scenes afterwards!” you almost yelled after he wanted to turn off the TV. “Please no! I’ve been waiting to have some time with you for the whole day!” he groaned annoyed. “Then you can still wait 20 more minutes” you smiled and repositioned yourself on your boyfriend’s lap. He had to suffer this last minutes if he wanted to steal some more kisses from you, you decided in your head. Your smile only got brighter when he started to pout.
~*~
“I was disappointed that you didn’t always team up with Ziyi during this hugging game. I kinda ship the two of you.” you chuckled as you and Xukun watched the unaired scenes. They were hilarious. Why did they decide to remove these scenes? “Wait. So you are shipping me, your boyfriend, with Ziyi? Why???” Xukun asked quite shocked. “You two are so cute together!” you laughed. Your boyfriend’s shocked face looked very funny to you and it was hard to concentrate on the show when you sat on the lap of a grown man with shocked puppy eyes. “But not as cute as us together.” Xukun replied smoothly, after he wasn’t shocked anymore. “So you think we are cute?” you mocked him while pinching his nose. “Yes, I think we are very cute” he replied and started to pout again. That seemed to be his hobby for tonight: pouting. “Stop pouting and continue watching the scenes with me” you said laughing and turned back to the TV. “I’ll stop pouting when I get a kiss” he continued to pout. “Then you will have to wait until the end, darling, because after the show you can kiss me as much as you want.” This made Kunkun smile again.
~*~
“Now I want to announce that my Nine Percent OTP isn’t Zikun anymore. I realised, that Zhangjun is the superior ship here.” you said, with a serious tone. Xukun bursted out laughing. “You know exactly, that Yanjun is your best friend’s boyfriend!” “Yes, but please let me dream a little… Justin and Xiao Gui dancing together was also really cute, maybe I can ship them? But still, Yanjun asking Zhangjing to sing with him was superior!” you replied innocently. “You know that we are all straight?” Xukun asked. “Yeah…. But maybe some of you are bisexual, but don’t know it yet?” you tried again. “I will just continue to let you live in your dream world, I think you like it better over there.” he chuckled. “Thank you Kunkun.” you said smiling. “The show is over, Babygirl. Looks like I can finally kiss you now properly.” Xukun smirked while turning you on his lap so you didn’t have to turn your head around every time you wanted to talk to him. He really missed you the whole day and had to wait for almost two hours until you were done watching the show and the unaired scenes. After all of this, he thought he deserved a little bit of attention from you, and who were you to deny him that? You wanted his attention as much as he wanted yours…
~*~
The kiss was sweet and innocent. Xukun’s lips tasted like strawberries, maybe because he ate strawberries in the afternoon, but that didn’t matter because you loved the taste combined with the smell of his after-shave and this specific Xukun smell. He released a soft moan when you tangled your fingers in this hair and tried to move closer to him, which was almost impossible. His hands started to move across your body until they settled down on your hips and also tried to pull you closer. Suddenly you couldn’t help yourself and started laughing. “Is this already less than 0.01 cm?” you giggled, thinking back to your conversation during ‘Happy Camp’. “I think so” Xukun chuckled, but his expression suddenly changed and turned serious. “I love you, my Babygirl. Only you. Don’t forget that.” he whispered, locking eyes with you. You melted under his gaze. “I love you too, Cai Xukun. Even when you flirt with your fans.” you replied and closed the distance between you two again.
three words for you — wang ziyi
summary: as the rain falls from the sky, the two of you decide to have a calming date at home instead of having an adventure out in the city. it’s just a casual date, so there’s wasn’t much to think about it, until, you finally tell ziyi those special three words he has always been dying to hear. word count: 1,147 pairing: boyfriend!ziyi x reader a/n: to my lovely anon who requested this <3 i feel like there’s a bunch of grammar mistakes in this, so i’ll fix that once i wake up in the morning it’s three am as im typing this
Tumblr media
“Oh man.” Ziyi quietly says to himself as he stares out into the window. Since you notice every little thing about him, you can even hear his voice no matter how low his voice tempo is. “What’s wrong?” You questioned as you walked towards Ziyi. Following his action, you looked out the window and was soon greeted by droplets of rain hitting the window panel. “So I guess our date is canceled for today, huh?” You moved your eyesight and stared right at Ziyi. “I dressed all cute today for no reason.” Before you could even laugh at your own lame comment, Ziyi suddenly grabbed you and then embraced you as he wrapped his arms around your waist. “You’re naturally cute no matter what the occasion is.” He nuzzled his face into the side of your neck. “How about we have a little stay-at-home-date instead? What do you think about that?” “I would absolutely love that.” On days like this, you always find yourself wearing Ziyi’s clothes, since you tend to forget to bring an extra set of outfit whenever you stay over. After changing into his spare leisure clothes, you jumped right in bed as Ziyi was casually laying on the other side. You stretched over your arm and placed it on top of his chest as you snuggled him like a little puppy. “What are we going to watch?” You simply asked as you watched Ziyi flip through different categories on the netflix television app. “Have anything in mind? I’m not really dying to watch any of these movies, to be quite honest with you.” “How about we watch a romance movie?” Cliche? Right? You already know how cliche it is, but that doesn’t stop you from wanting to watch one. “For some odd reason, I always crave to watch a romance movie whenever it’s raining. Usually, it’s romance with a hint of angst.” You slowly added on. “Or maybe with a lot of angst. Suffering is kinda fun, sometimes.” Ziyi shifted his head to look at you for a quick second and then proceeded on to laugh. “God, you’re so weird.” Even though he always makes such remarks and calls you weird 24/7, he still thinks you’re crazily lovely and follows whatever you do. In consideration of your comment, Ziyi and you found a movie to watch for the time being. While the movie is playing, Ziyi isn’t paying much attention to it compared to how much you are. You’re immersed in the movie and Ziyi is just immersed in your well being. He begins to softly play with your hair as he brushes a few pieces out of your face and just strokes it in general. “What are you doing?” You abruptly ask, getting up from your original position, which was laying on top of him as he cuddled you away. Ziyi didn’t know you were going to have such a reaction towards this. “Was I brushing their hair too roughly?” He thought to himself as he stayed frozen. “Uh, I thought you were going to be alright with it. If you’re not comfortable then-” You suddenly cut him off with your voice. “How are you going to play with my hair and not expect me to react towards it?” You glanced to the side, trying your best to avoid Ziyi’s eye contact as your cheeks turned into a rosy red shade. He had thought you were angry at him for playing with your hair, when in reality, you enjoyed every moment of it. Finally understanding you’re odd way of expressing it, Ziyi scooted closer to you, breaking the gap between you two. “Then should I play with your hair some more?” He smirked, raising his hand to gently brush against your hair and then to your face. Ziyi began to stroke your hair like before, but he gave it a slight twist as he began to passionately kiss your lips with his. The two of you fell right back onto the bed and instead of resting your head on a pillow, it was on top of Ziyi’s hand. Without realizing so, the both of your hands reached out to the sides of Ziyi’s jawline. You pulled him even more closer to you, trying your best to break any gap between you two. Even though you didn’t want the kiss to end, you kind of have to admit that you were out of breath. You broke the kiss as you gasped for air while he did the same in return. You shifted your hands over to the back of his body as you hugged him tightly, hiding your face into his chest. “Ziyi, I love you.” You were too embarrassed to face him, and not only that, but you totally forgot the movie was still playing in the background. Those particular three words have never escaped your mouth before. Ziyi always thought how shameful he was whenever he would announce his love for you, since you never did the same, but now that he heard that particular quote leave your lips, he can finally confirm how much you like him. Actually, scratch that out. He can finally confirm how much you love him and now he can promptly confirm that you love him just as much as he loves you. At first, he didn't know what to do. He was frozen from the sudden confession, but soon shakes himself out of his daze. Ziyi looks down at you as he asserts. “I’m going to need you to say that for me one more time.” “Say what?” You blurted, moving your head to look back up at Ziyi. You soon realized that he was just messing with you at this point. “You know what.” Ziyi said, ruffling your hair. You pout your lips, not giving in. “You heard it once and you’re not deaf. Why do I need to say it again?” Ziyi joking ticked his tongue as he rolled over to the other side. “Then I guess right now is a good time to end this date of ours. The rain is getting much lighter, so maybe you’re alright walking home.” “Okay! Okay!” You shout out, forcefully pulling him back to you. “I love you. Did you finally hear that correctly? It’ll always only be you, so you don’t need to worry about it anymore.” A smile stretched from Ziyi’s lips and he couldn’t help, but to leave a quick peck on your forehead as he hugged you tightly right afterwards. He didn’t want you to ever leave him. “And I’ll always love you too, Y/N.” At a time like this, Ziyi is thankful that the rain decided to pour down on that same exact day and at that exact moment. Without the rain, he wouldn’t have been able to hear you say you love him for the first time ever.
