This is Olivia, aka "Squashy". She is my own cat, a very special soul and the most extraordinary cat I have ever met. She passed away in June 27, 2018 from a long fight with bone cancer, and I have still yet to recover. She was only 10 years old, and left us far too soon. I have been putting off doing her portrait for a long time because it was so difficult, emotionally and technically.

Anyone who met Olivia knew what a special cat she was. She only wanted to be with me, and she followed me everywhere, no matter what I was doing. She listened to me, and seemed to understand what I was saying. She had a deep crackly meow and was not afraid to use it. She loved her beanie babies; she would carry them around the house, making a crying sound, and put them in little piles. She gave hugs and kisses, and loved to sit in my lap and be cuddled, constantly, no matter what I was doing. Whenever I was sad she would cling to me and give me extra hugs.

Her passing has left a huge hole in my heart and soul that will never be filled. 😿😭💔

Studio Art Capstone: Mapping Memory

Mapping Memory is a series that explores different realms of memories that have greatly influenced me through the remaining fragments of my faded recollections. These recollections consist of meaningful objects, texts, figures, and both written and spoken words. By physically layering and mapping out these mementos on a surface together, I aim to illustrate their collective meaning and explore the ways in which objects in particular can hold narratives in association with our memories.

The world of birds in the works of artist Jeremy Paul.

Джереми Пол родился в 1954 году в Ланкашире. Он сделал успешную карьеру в области морской биологии, прежде чем стал профессиональным художником. Его работа в области морской биологии привела его к жизни в отдаленные и красивые районы Британских островов. Именно когда он жил на западном побережье Шотландии, он начал серьезно рисовать. Он полностью художник-самоучка, работающий исключительно акрилом.

Художник издает собственную серию гравюр с изображением дикой природы ограниченным и открытым тиражом. Так же его картины были воспроизведены на ряде почтовых марок, посвященных дикой природе. А в 2013 году вышла книга его картин с птицами.

Jeremy Paul was born in 1954 in Lancashire. He had a successful career in marine biology before becoming a professional artist. His work in marine biology took him to remote and beautiful areas of the British Isles. It was while he was living on the west coast of Scotland that he began painting seriously. He is a completely self-taught artist, working exclusively in acrylics.

The artist now lives with his wife and two children on the Isle of Man, and before that he traveled extensively to India, Africa, North America, and most recently Antarctica and the Arctic. Jeremy has had many solo exhibitions. His work is in the collection of the Woodson Art Museum in the USA and Nature in Art, the International Wildlife Art Center in Gloucester, UK, where he is part of their artist residency program. The artist publishes his own series of prints depicting wildlife in limited and open editions. His paintings have also been reproduced on a number of postage stamps dedicated to wildlife. And in 2013, a book of his paintings with birds was published.

Painted the drumbot:D I tried a few new things on this one, such as making the lines fuzzy. Turns out I really like the fuzzy look on canvas but it's horrid to photograph. Also this is clearly a testament to me refusing to let acrylics look like acrylics, I just HAVE to try to force them to look like oil paints lol.

I can't have my drumset where I currently live and thus haven't played in a while, weirdly enough painting someone happy with drumsticks in hand made me feel better about it too.
