(there will still be a post tomorrow to keep on track)#The original 3 panel comic idea was fine but the point of this new schedule was to take time to push myself a bit more.#I was taking a look back through some comic artists I felt inspired by #and I really loved how Lynda Barry fills her gutters with patterns and doodles!#Obviously I'm not going as absolutely wild with it as she does but it was a great exercise!#I truly think the gutters are the most important and most overlooked part of any comic. There's lots going on in that space.#It's the same with timeskips. The implied movement between moments that we don't see changes depending on how wide that gap is #You're here for the funny tags so here's some that ties this time talk together:#I think LWJ was thinking about that second note from day 2 but it took him 7 days of hazing to commit it to paper.#I think he sends it a day later and immediately regrets it. Chasing down the messenger and everything.#You know if something actually happened to his brother he would never ever forgive himself for putting the bad vibes out there.#Third time skip was the hardest because there was so many possible flavours of jokes here. Day 8/9 was a personal favourite.#day 14 was also funny (week by week). I think the debate on 'how long does lwj take to catch feelings' is more or less:#'how long does it take for him to arrive at a particular stage of grief and yearning (and awareness of it all)#This is a symphony. There is an act by act structure. Every day he is fighting to keep his old sensibilities. He is losing so badly.#(I'll be returning to the main comic soon but there is more of this AU to come!)

#idk im just curious because i oftne see posts that are like ''this song/artist can NOT go on this characters playlist #they would never listen to that''#and it confuses me a little because i thought character playlists were just songs that you like that you associate with the character #not necessarily stuff you think they would listen to. like with character playlists i just pick stuff with lyrics that describe them #regardless of whether they would actually like that song or not #when it comes to songs associated with ocs specifically though i tend to go for a mix of all 3 of these #but again. mostly vibes and story #Also what i mean by vibes is like maybe the style of music sounds like something that would be associated with them #but the lyrics dont really fit them all that much. does that make sense #i probably could have worded it better but oh well. cant edit polls

LRB but I'm replaying BG3 and Gale being on the knife's edge of Wholesome/"Dirty" is what makes him soo interesting to me. Like this is a man who, in two different versions of the same scene, can either sweetly and gently make love to your tav in a typical setting which transitions to a tasteful fade-to-black, or brings your tav's spirit along for a transcendent experience where he literally duplicates part of himself so he can have more parts to touch their parts in some crazy astral-soup sky world. And both are treated like valid expressions of his love!! Like the range they allowed him to express, he's not one or the other, he's both

I feel like I've seen most of what interests me in FiMFiction for the time being, so I read through some good ol' reliable Stardew Valley fanfics last night, only to realize.

still mad about this post lol so let me also say: “they taught us critical thinking in english class” is extra funny to me because there’s a genuine debate among Ed Heads about whether “critical thinking” as a discrete and decontextualized skillset can actually be taught :) so it’s pretty silly to go around confidently branding yourself as a critical thinker while simultaneously revealing that you’re extremely comfortable making assumptions about the relative simplicity of complex ideas which remain contested in their respective fields :) personally i would be pretty embarrassed to call myself a critical thinker if i also couldn’t stop myself from revealing i was totally lacking in the intellectual humility that would enable me to understand that we have yet to reach consensus on unbelievably complicated issues like how best to educate an entire population :) but i guess i was absent the day that tenth grade english covered running your mouth like an asshole on social media :)

#for someone so convinced english class made you smart you’re saying some pretty stupid shit!#i’m also genuinely curious about this person’s english class bc i went to a fancy high school and my english teachers were mostly fine #and i would not connect literally anything we ever did there to the concepts of media literacy or misinformation spotting #i would also be shocked if a majority of current high school english teachers are good at those things themselves. lol.#remember: teachers are being taught that learning styles are real and most of them never question it!#btw i’m inclined to go with the ‘critical thinking is discipline specific and can’t be taught as a Thing crowd’#my unsubstantiated hunch is that like #being exposed to critical thinking processes in a variety of different fields #can build the kind of intellectual humility that is the most important prerequisite for critical thinking #like because i know how much goes into ‘knowing’ something historically #i know that i can’t really meaningfully critically think about high level debates in biology because the knowledge base isn’t there #and knowing that is IMO its own form of critical thinking #but that’s me spitballing based on vibes
