Star Trek TOS crew biographies
There are plenty of detailed biographies of the TOS crew, both online and in reference books. But I wanted to check what actually appears in the Original Series and the six TOS movies about this subject (that is, not counting secondary sources or later series). And the result is... very little, actually. I was surprised by the amount of data that I took for granted, just to find out it came from a novel or wasn't 100% set in stone. This is what I could find about each major character, just judging from the TOS series and movies. Feel free to add to this or correct mistakes.
James Tiberius Kirk:
Although in the series he's referred just as James T. Kirk, his middle name "Tiberius" appears in Star Trek VI. "Tiberius" was also his middle name in TAS episode Bem, and the novel The Galactic Whirlpool (both by Gerrold), as well as in Roddenberry's TMP novelization. So yeah, no doubts about his name.
He was born in Iowa (Star Trek IV) and had one brother, George Samuel Kirk, and three nephews (What are little girls made of?). Sam married a woman named Aurelan (Operation: Annihilate).
Kirk was 34 in The Deadly Years. Assuming each season is a year of the five year mission, he could be 33 at the start of the series. And this is the only reference for his age I could find. As for actual dates, I didn't find anything, except his statement in Star Trek IV that he comes from the late 23rd century. (It wouldn't be until Voyager episode Q2, that a date was given for the end of the five-year mission: 2270. This follows Michael Okuda's Star Trek Chronology, and all other dates for TOS are inferred from this).
At age 13 he witnessed the massacre of Tarsus IV (Kodos was governor twenty years ago, in The Conscience of the King).
At age 18 he had just entered the Academy and was tormented by Finnegan. At this time he also met Ruth (fifteen years before Shore Leave).
He served in the USS Republic as an ensign, at some unspecified time after his Academy years, where he reported Ben Finney for negligency (Court Martial).
At age 21 he visited the planet Neural and befriended Tyree (thirteen years before A private little war).
He teached at the Academy as a lieutenant. One of his students was his friend Gary Mitchell (Where No Man has Gone Before).
He was a lieutenant in the USS Farragut at age 23 (eleven years before Obsession), where he first encountered the cloud creature that massacred his crewmates.
Kirk had a relationship with Areel Shaw when he was 29 (four years before Court Martial).
He became captain of the USS Enterprise after Pike. If we suppose TOS first season happens during the first year of the five-year mission, Kirk was around 37 at the end of this mission.
There's a big gap of fifteen years between Space Seed and the second movie. And apart from the five-year mission, most of those years are unaccounted for. Kirk's been an admiral for two years and a half at the start of TMP. But we don't know if he became an admiral right after the Enterprise's mission, or much later. That is, we don't know at what point of that gap take place the events of TMP. Around this time, both Spock and McCoy had retired from Starfleet, though they both returned when Kirk took the Enterprise again for the V'Ger incident.
By The Wrath of Kahn, Kirk should be 48 years old (fifteen years since he left Kahn stranded in Space Seed). If David is around 30, Kirk's relationship with Carol could have been at the Academy, but it's also possible that David is younger.
The third and fourth films happen shortly after The Wrath of Kahn, but no idea how much time elapsed since then and the fifth and sixth films (though see the info for McCoy).
Spock
Known simply as "Spock". His full name is considered unpronounceable for humans, though the novel Ishmael gives it as "S'chn T'gai Spock".
His parents are Sarek and Amanda (Journey to Babel). Amanda's last name was never given, though TAS episode Yesteryear, some novels, and the 2009 reboot film establishes it as "Grayson". Spock also has a half-brother: Sybok (Star Trek V).
I couldn't find anything about Spock's actual age during the series/movies.
He was betrothed to T'Pring at age seven (Amok Time).
He probably joined Starfleet eighteen years before Journey to Babel, since that's the time he spent not speaking with Sarek. If he joined Starfleet at 18 years old, he'd be 36 by season two (but that's just a supposition).
He was part of Pike's crew thirteen years before The Menagerie, during the events in Talos IV. He'd be 22 by then. Spock served under Pike for eleven years (also from The Menagerie). That means Kirk had been captain of the Enterprise for at least two years before season one.
After that, Spock's career runs more or less in parallel with Kirk's, so I won't go over it again.
Leonard H. McCoy
His middle initial first appears in Star Trek III, as well as the name of his father: David. The novel Provenance of Shadows explains the middle initial as "Horatio", but other novels call him "Leonard Edward McCoy" (???).
Much of his biographical background comes from the "Writer's Guide" by Roddenberry and Fontana, but never made it to the series. That includes the fact he's 45 (by season one?) and born in Georgia. As well as the fact that he's divorced and joined Starfleet as a result of this, and that he has a 20 year old daughter (Joanna). Presumably, the story of his divorce and Joanna would have appeared in The Way to Eden, but the story was severely altered. His daughter is mentioned, but without name, in TAS episode The Survivor, and in several novels. The Gold Key comics call her "Barbara" instead. His ex-wife is given different names in the novels and comics: Honey, Jocelyn, Joan, Gillian...
No idea when he joined Starfleet (that depends on how long was his marriage), or when he met Kirk.
Ten years before The Man Trap, he had a romance with Nancy Crater. Though in the episode he sometimes says he knew her twelve years ago, and other times ten years ago. Either it's a mistake, or the relationship simply lasted two years (though McCoy's doubts about Nancy remembering him, imply the relationship wasn't very long).
At some point, he visited Capella IV for a few months (Friday's Child).
He served in the Enterprise for 27 years (Star Trek VI), but only under Kirk, it seems. If he was 45 when he started, he'd be 72 in the last film, and Kirk would be 60 years old.
Note on McCoy's age in later series
The "Writer's Guide" statement that McCoy was 45 at the time of TOS, was contradicted by later series. In TNG episode Encounter at Farpoint, he's said to be 137 years old. While in the episode The Neutral Zone (also from TNG season one) the year is 2364. As both episodes probably happen in the same year, McCoy would have been born in 2227. Since, according to Voyager, the five-year mission lasted from 2266 to 2270, McCoy would have been 39 at the start of the mission. I'm following the Writer's Guide figure, however, because I consider this document more relevant for TOS itself. After all, many things that are facts in later series, aren't the same in TOS, and viceversa. Also, considering that the age of the characters seems to be close to the age of the actors, I find more likely that McCoy was 45, and not 39, at the start of TOS. To give you an idea, Shatner was 36 in season two (Kirk was 34), Nimoy was also 36 (just as Spock) and Kelley was 47. The twelve year gap between Kirk and McCoy, would be almost the same as the eleven year gap between Shatner and Kelley.
Montgomery Scott
Very little about him, but at least we got his full name in the series. He's supposed to be Scottish, and has lived in Aberdeen (Wolf in the Fold).
Apart from being Chief Engineer in the Enterprise, he was engineer advisor in a freighter, running from Deneva to the asteroid belt (Operation: Annihilate).
Uhura
We never knew her first name in TOS! This is one of the things that surprised me the most. However, "Nyota" is her first name in the reboot films, the new series, and well before that, the novel The Entropy Effect.
She was probably born in east Africa, since her native language seems to be Swahili (the language she reverted to when her memory was wiped in The Changeling). Thanks to user @sapsuckers-and-stardust for pointing this out.
Very, very little about her bio background. Most of it has to be collected from novels or comics, and those never intended to be coherent with each other.
Hikaru Sulu
Though his first name was unknown for a long time, it was revealed to be "Hikaru" in Star Trek VI. But before this, he was also called Hikaru in The Entropy Effect.
Sulu was born in San Francisco (Star Trek IV).
Again, almost nothing of his bio in the series/movies. Though the DC comics explored his character significantly. And in Star Trek: Generations, he had a daughter, Demora.
By Star Trek VI, he was finally a captain of his own ship, the Excelsior.
Pavel Andreievich Chekov
His full name appears first in The Way to Eden, where we also learn he had a romance with Irina Galliulin at the Academy.
Chekov has no siblings (Day of the Dove).
He's 22 by season two (Who mourns for Adonais?).
After serving in the Enterprise, he was first officer in the USS Reliant during The Wrath of Kahn, though he returned with Kirk after the Reliant's destruction.
Christine Chapel
She abandoned her career in bio-research to sign aboard the Enterprise as a nurse, and search after her fiancé Roger Korby (What are little girls made of?) Strangely enough, a few episodes before, she had confessed her love for Spock. She chose to stay in the ship after finding out Korby was dead.
By the time of TMP, she was a doctor in the Enterprise, though she doesn't appear as part of the crew in the later movies.
Janice Rand
She served as a yeoman in the Enterprise during the early five-year mission, but disappears from the series afterwards.
In TMP, she's the transporter chief. And in Star Trek IV, Janice is seen at Starfleet Command, along with Chapel.
By Star Trek VI, she was the communications officer of the Excelsior, under Sulu.

What is the origin of Fearsome in your version of Reboot?
Okay so funny story,,, liquidator is the only reboot design where im genuinely stumped on what to do for his origin..
Bushroot - works at the Ludwig von drake end of the world bunker (from that one ducktales episode) and an accident happened where he might’ve had a ton of seeds on him as well as being soaked in the plant growth serum. This causes problems as he starts growing leaves and such, which eventually leads to Bushroot (I love treating all my designs with respect and non traumatizing scenes, as you can see /j)
Megavolt - he has nanites cybernetics (similar to gandra’s) and, due to some nanites glitching, gets a little shock sometimes. Those shocks have chipped away at Megs mind for a while now. While I haven’t got a set in stone change in megs from normal to super villain, I do know that the nanite shocks made him fucking insane :3
Quackerjack - still an insane toy maker.. He worked under the mcduck enterprises toy division. He’s working to get higher up in the company. When he moves down in the job hierarchy he becomes a little homicidal ,, but that’s the quackerjack charm baby 🙌
Again, none for liquidator rn.. quackerjack and liquidator are very hard to make origins for, I’ll need more time 😭
But uh,, yeah, they’re a silly little group.. (I’ll draw bigger stuff with them soon, especially with their pre-corruption designs :33)

The series is based on a 2005 Philippine television series of the same title. It served as a reboot and the fourth television series in the Encantadia franchise and the reader is amihan, Amihan is a major character from the Philippine fantasy television series Encantadia and Etheria produced by GMA Network. Among the four elemental Sang'gres, she is considered as the main protagonist, having appeared in the First Episode. Amihan is the guardian of the blue Brilyante ng Hangin / wind
Sang'gre Amihan of Lireo, Rehav of Sapiro, was the fifth Hara / queen of Lireo. She was born in the Kingdom of Lireo during the War between Sapiro and Hathoria, as the second daughter of the Hara Minea of Lireo and the only daughter of Rehav Raquim of Sapiro. As Lireo's monarch, she was also the keeper of the kingdom's Air Gem. She became the mother of Lira and the lover of Rehav Ybrahim.
Amihan is willing to sacrifice her life for the sake of Lireo and all of Encantadia; a trait inherited by her only daughter, Lira. Despite Danaya's ( her sister) protest on her plan, using Lira in order to persuade her, Amihan countered that her sacrifice is also for Lira's welfare, to ensure a future is possible for her especially she is the successor to the Diwata throne.
the character is Dan heng, Jing yuan , welt, gepard and luocha
And take care of yourself , sorry if it's long I hope you can do my request
-----♡
A/N: Hello! Thank you for this very interesting request! I was however a little confused on what you wanted me to write about and I tried my best to understand everything as much as I could, so I'm sorry of this is not what you wanted. I was just really confused, but intrigued. So yeah, I made something up with what that you gave me and hope you'll like it!<33
Summary: Hsr men stopping you from sacrificing yourself for your kingdom.
Content: Established relationship, some angst, fluff, mentions of sacrifices/death(?), still mostly sfw(?)
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not fully proofread))
-----♡
》Welt Yang
Tumblr media
Welt would absolutely not let you even consider going that far. He'll try coming up with solutions to any problems and give you advice on how to proceed without anyone getting hurt. The last thing he wants is to lose you too.
If you're insisting on your stance on the topic, then he'll try persuading you gently into understanding that he won't let you do that and that he'll find a different way to keep the kingdom safe.
Either way, he'd take your protection into his own hands and make sure, you won't have to worry about a thing with him around. He cares about you and your kingdom, which is why he won't let you just die on him. It's impossible to go through with it, when he's there, that's for sure.
-----♡
》Dan Heng
Tumblr media
Dan Heng would want to know about all possible outcomes and every single detail first, before proceeding with his next move. He wouldn't let you sacrifice himself either and help you and your kingdom out in more productive ways.
He doesn't underestimate your abilities to take care of yourself and therefore encourages you to fight first, instead of sacrificing yourself. He doesn't want you to die on him either. He couldn't fathom losing you.
If things come to a head, he'd rather sacrifice himself, before you get a chance to do so. He'll protect you with his life and he always tells you so, even if you don't want to hear it.
Trying to fool him or trick him won't work either. He knows everything about you and would stop you from doing anything foolish. Even if he has to restrain you physically himself. He won't let you die, no matter what.
-----♡
》Gepard Landau
Tumblr media
Being the Captain of the Silvermaneguards pays off greatly here, as he could use his expertise and knowledge to guide you into better strategies than you sacrificing yourself.
He however understands your will to die for your kingdom, as he endangers his life out on the front lines practically everyday for his city. But even so, he does it to protect his loved ones and you count too ofcourse, which is why he wouldn't want you to outright sacrifice yourself.
He'll keep you close and safe, never out of his sight. Trying to fool him or going behind his back to proceed with your plans wouldn't work either, as he'd be your personal guard in everything. He just wants you to stay alive and happy. If he has to die instead for it, then so be it.
-----♡
》Jing Yuan
Tumblr media
As a General, he has enough manpower and intelligence to keep you and your kingdom safe and sound from any threats. You don't need to worry about a thing with him around and he makes sure you know, that he'll always be there.
Whilst he understands the want to sacrifice yourself for the kingdom, he still would definitely stop you from going that far. He thinks that there are more better ways to handle the situation and will make sure you never get that far.
Don't try going behind his back either, he'll know if you try anything. He'll find it even a little amusing, that you think he wouldn't notice what you're doing, but alas, he'll keep you close and tell you that he'll deal with all your issues. He just doesn't want to lose you.
-----♡
》Luocha
Tumblr media
Luocha is very calm and collected, never losing his cool once, when you tell him about your plans. He'll just simply listen to you speak, trying to weigh out the options, before dismissing your plan completely, telling you that there won't be any need for such drastic measures.
He'll make up a whole, more effective plan for you, showing you that there is still so much you could do, instead of just outright sacrificing yourself. He's just so convincing with his intelligent and calculated words, that it actually makes you reconsider everything.
If you however insist, he'll still not budge on his stance and keep you out of any trouble himself. Maybe he'll even ask your family to help, but he won't let you get hurt no matter what. You still have a long life to spend with him, after all.
-----♡
A/N: I hope this was alright! I'm sorry again, if I got it wrong and hope you liked it anyways. Thank you again for the cool request!<33

What halves of which couples from gen 1-3 would come back for an All-Stars season against the reboot contestants
Now this hypothetical new all-stars season would probably be season 3 of the reboot. And since season 1 of the reboot takes place 15 years after the original TDI, that would place the new all-stars season 17 years after TDI, so that would place the original Island Cast (plus Alejandro and Sierra) at age 33, the ROTI cast at age 31, and the PI cast at age 30, so I don't think it's a stretch to assume that most, if not all, of the TD alum couples would have a kid or 2. Thus if Chris were to invite the various TD alums back for another all-stars season, the various couples would each have a conversation that boils down to "Ok, one of us should stay home to reduce the risk of our kid(s) becoming an orphan." So I will now go over the couples that are still together (or in the case of Scottney, couples I can see getting back together after their canon break-up), and discuss who would compete and who would opt out.
Geoff and Bridgette- Geoff already had his time to shine in the Ridonculous race, so I would say Bridgette would be the one competing in All-Stars 2.
Noah and Emma- speaking of former Ridonculous Racers, I feel Noah being the 1 to compete in All-Stars 2 instead of Emma is a no-brainer for 2 reasons. 1 being that he's the only half of the couple to have competed in Total Drama while Emma only participated in a spin-off. The 2nd being their careers. Emma would probably be busy with her lawyer career while I picture Noah alternating continuing to compete in the reality show circuit and being a stay-at-home dad.
Tyler and Lindsay- The TDA special mentioned Tyler also being in the reality show circuit, and I can see him continuing that well into his 30s. And when Lindsay competed in the first all-stars, she gave up after 1 episode. So I can imagine Tyler being the 1 to compete in All-Stars 2.
Leshawna and Harold- I can see this couple being 1 of the couples who both compete, mainly because I can't decide between them.
Alejandro and Heather- I can see these 2 also being 1 of the exceptions to the "only 1 half of a couple competes in All-Stars 2) thing, but if they aren't, I say Heather who competes based on my headcanons regarding their post-TD careers. I picture Alejandro becoming a paleontologist (which admittedly is something he could probably put on hold for a few weeks while he competed on All-Stars 2). Similar to Noah, I see Heather alternating between being a stay-at-home mom and competing in the reality show circuit (and since her online interview for World Tour mentions her doing Karaoke, I can see her competing in TD universe's equivalent of the Masked Singer). Plus, I love the idea of Julia and Heather competing against each other or being on a team together.
Scottney- hear me out, but I think Scott would be one competing in All-Stars 2 (assuming the balloon incident in the first all-stars didn't traumatize the 2 into both opting out of All-Stars 2). Similar to Emma, I imagine that Courtney's lawyer career would keep too busy to compete in All-Stars 2. Plus from a Doylist standpoint, I imagine the writers would want to keep the ratio of Island and Roti contestants even.
Zoke- In the All-Stars finale, Mike expressed interest in competing in another season of TD to which Zoey (along with Gwen and Cameron) made it clear that she did not want to compete again. Based on that, Mike would probably be the 1 to return.
Shawn and Jasmine- This could potentially be another couple where both parties compete, but if I had to choose, I'd say Shawn is the 1 competing, with the in-universe explanation being that Jasmine's flowershop/cage-fighting school is very busy during the summer, and she didn't trust Shawn to run it for her. Alternatively, they could be one of the couples where both parties opt out of All-Stars 2.
Edit: I just realized I forgot to discuss Sam and Dakota. Sam already had a solo run in All-Stars (which was not well received), in the event of there being another All-Stars, I think they would bring back both or only bring Dakota. If Dakota comes back, my caveat would that she's figured out a way to switch between her human and mutant form at will, with Chris saying that she's only allowed to switch to a mutant form in emergencies.

gossip girl reboot 2x07 spoilers below !
i feel so bad for monet yall. she was upgraded to main character for maybe 3 episodes and now shes being treated like dirt. everyone of the main cast has had a or multiple love interest(s), and all shes gotten is a queerbaiter ?? seriously ??
and DONT even get me started on her mom. i liked the notion of monet getting her cutthroatness from her mom, and i was excited to see them as a mother daughter duo with flaws of course. but camille just...replacing monet with zoya is cruel, and even crueller when she criticizes monets actions when girl YOU are the parent, YOU are what shes influenced by !!!
luna is still barely a side character who we know nothing about and just gives the others advice. not much else to say really.
dont even get me started on julien and audrey. i went from disliking julien and liking audrey to way the opposite in a WEEK 😭 audrey is making no sense to me. first she wants to reconnect with her dad and his mistress, gets mad when julien calls them out and says maybe they really are in love and seemed to believe julianna (the mistress idk her name) when she said they didnt cheat, gets mad when gg posts a most likely fake email that julien sent to her dad saying she saw them, then gets even more mad when julien tries to talk to the girl to get the truth and gets manipulated. this is on audrey to me because i would not trust the man and woman who so thoroughly broke my mother down like we saw kiki at the start of season 1.
i hope georgina and kate both go to jail im so sick of seeing them yall i stg.
obies storyline is still so....fucking boring and hes do disconnected from the group the contrast to his scenes is so jarring. and i saw him trying to flirt with julien like PLEASE dont try her after you got mad at HER because she exposed ur lil girlfriend was a brother fucker.
aki is just kinda there. but i like him much more this season so he can just be there and im cool <3
max is trying to win the approval of audreys cheatin ass dad who is judging him and. oh the irony.
still heavily dislike zoya i wish i didnt but oooo lets just say you can tell shes a fifteen year old girl (incredibly annoying).
i wrote this 33 mins into the 57 min episode so i might rant more if something pisses me off. im gonna write more monet fics since the writers wanna do her dirty. bye.

TDI reboot ep 2 reaction!! Spoilers below cut
- omg omg I love Axel so much she is so good
- and scary girl still slaps she was TEARING into that squirrel meat
- Damien is so sweet dude
- also hey Emma wtf she may be a lil more fucked in the head than I thought, I mean she was more concerned about Chase not following the rules than she was about him CUTTING HER BREAKS. It makes sense since she was apart of a prank channel but still
- Chef this season reminds me a lot of Dramarama Chef, being a lot more fun and goofy than mean and serious, I love him
- Zee is just so???? Nice???? All of the time???? I love him, and I love that he got more screen time this ep he was so good, especially at the end
- SCARY GIRL AND DAMIEN BEST FRIENDS I LOVE THEM <33 the most fucked up little creature and the most sane and normal person there I’m eating it up
-Bowie is so funny this ep I stg
- Wayne is actually a very good player?? Which I really wasn’t expecting, since most jocks in total drama usually just fall into the “dumb jock” category, but he really carried the team this episode he was awesome. And his friendship with Raj is beautiful
- Nichelle is actually pretty competent as well, which I wasn’t fully expecting either. But she did very well this challenge. Also “IM famous, I have no idea who SHE is” is iconic
- Keeping my eye on Julia she seems pretty sus, I mean she was always sus with her crystal influencer persona but still
- Love how ruthless Emma was toward Chase this ep, and how Chase thinks she’s still into him even tho she’s celebrating over beating the shit out of him. Worried it’ll cost her the game tho
- very sad about Axel going home so soon, I hope she doesn’t get done dirty like Eva and never goes far in the game again. Also I want her to beat the shit out of ripper it would be fun, I feel like they were building up a fun back and fourth and I’m sad it didn’t play out

Angels, Demons, and Choices
A Good Omens Analysis done by an atheist who’s kinda invested in Christianity. Avaunt if it might make you uncomfortable.
Themes, through lines, and tendencies - Part 3.1
Parts: 1, 2, 3.1, 3.2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
In the beginning of the third episode God asks Aziraphale about whereabouts of his flaming sword.
Tumblr media
Obviously, God knows the actual answer and Aziraphale doesn't tell her the truth despite being aware of that. He doesn't lie, per se, but he purposefully obscures the truth. God doesn't punish Aziraphale. Why? It's ineffable.
Tumblr media
The next time Aziraphale meets Crowley, God is busy. Humanity's been kinda pissing her off. So, why not destroy it along with all the animals but few? Call it a soft reboot. No need to try fixing bugs, just start almost from scratch, maybe this time it'll work out.
Tumblr media
Crawley can't believe that Heaven would be killing children. But he's a demon, what does he know.
Tumblr media
It's okay though, this particular type of extinction will only happen once. And we can see Aziraphale being uncomfortable with the whole shebang, but he can't do anything about it.
Tumblr media
Ineffability is a lot like a gaslighting technique, isn't it? Just do what you're told, don't question it, questioning it is wrong, wrong is unacceptable. The fact that Aziraphale starts kinda seeing Crawley's point without outright vilifying him is a big deal. But all that mindset can't be undone easily.
Tumblr media
This is what Crowley asks when they meet at the Crusifiction. Christ's life, after all, was predetermined by God and helped to be put in motion by angels.
Tumblr media
But Aziraphale is hardly happy. He simply can't go against his superiors.
Tumblr media
We also learn that Crowley changed her name. It doesn't sound very different, but it's her chosen name. And it's a human name, not a descriptor. Crowley now controls her identity.
Tumblr media
If you met Jesus, a 33 year old carpenter who's a bit weird, knowing what would happen to him, what would you do? Try to persuade him to refuse his destiny? Show him that there's more to life and he doesn't need to throw it away? Well, it would certainly be the decent thing to do.
Tumblr media
Being asked if Crowley's still a demon is a sensitive issue. Being an aardvark would be a lot easier.
Tumblr media
Can I-- Can I just say here that oysters were always associated with sex? Crowley had never tried them, so Aziraphale decided to do a bit of temptation. Ahem. Even overlooking the suggestiveness, Aziraphale is now comfortable enough with Crowley to be careless with his language and very friendly.
Tumblr media
When Crowley suggests just stopping their jobs because they cancel each other out, it makes all the sense to him. He'd seen Aziraphale doing things he doesn't like, so Aziraphale must also hate his job.
But Aziraphale can excuse the unpleasant side of his activity as a necessary setback. He's still dedicated to his department, so he assumes Crowley must be as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Elizabethan times we find out that they've had the Arrangement for a while now. Aziraphale's only reason to object to it is that Crowley might get in trouble for it. No more strict allegiance to either parties or morals, just consideration.
Tumblr media
When Crowley proposes to make it happen for Hamlet, he does it just to make Aziraphale happy, not because he expected a favour in return.
Tumblr media
Again, we see Aziraphale's unHeavenlike trait, no doubt the frivolous miracles had to do with him feeling peckish or something else like that.
Tumblr media
The next moment Aziraphale exchanges clothes with his executioner who gets send to the guillotine for this. Quite a cold move for an angel. And if exchanging clothes barely counts as a miracle, what kind of decadent, indulgent stuff has Aziraphale been up to?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the 19th century Aziraphale once again asserts that they are different. It's the thought that lets him sleep at night. Aziraphale is good and right simply because he's an angel.
Tumblr media
Crowley, on the other hand, has done a lot of introspection and he feels that what happened to him is not right. Which is a logical trap. If he's right and he wasn't supposed to fall, he wouldn't question God. If he's wrong and he was supposed to fall, he'd be wrong to question God. That is, assuming that morality in Heaven and Hell adheres to the strict binary.
Tumblr media
Once Crowley asks Aziraphale to help him, Aziraphale's argument isn't that they're on the opposite sides anymore, it's that he cares too much for Crowley and worries for him. He doesn't believe that Crowley would use the holy water against forces of Hell as it is unthinkable to him that an angel or a demon can earnestly go against their own faction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During the Blitz scene Crowley saves Aziraphale and his books because he cares. The denial starts cracking. Aziraphale sees goodness in Crowley and Crowley stops hiding it.
Tumblr media
In the 1960s Aziraphale gives Crowley holy water because he hears about Crowley planning to rob a church. He thinks that it's potentially deadly. I'm actually laughing right now because of how ridiculous it is. Crowley hired THREE ENTIRE PEOPLE and promised to pay them THREE HUNDRED POUNDS EACH to get some holy water and nothing else. And Aziraphale thinks he's IN DANGER. I love how unaware they both are of the world. It's beautiful. But that's beside the point. The point is that
It didn't take Aziraphale 800 years to realise that he cares enough to give Crowley holy water. It's an expression of trust and care.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This time Aziraphale refuses to be thanked because he doesn't think he did something good.
Tumblr media
And then, scared of his own bravery, Aziraphale refuses to make another step. He feels like he's done a lot already. Maybe, even too much.

This is the third part of my analysis. It’s based on the third episode. Further parts will follow, one per episode.
I hit the image limit here, so, there'll be part 3.2.
I haven’t reread the book for this, it’s based only on the show, so if you see any points that can be made differently based on the book, don’t fault me.

Picard
Tumblr media
All right, let me tell you about my dad.
My dad got me into Star Trek, because he liked the original show and he used to watch TNG and the movies whenever they came on in the late 80s, and I started to get hooked on TNG when the "Best of Both Worlds" cliffhanger happened, about 33 years ago.
I remember being really excited about Star Trek: First Contact, because that was the first TNG-only movie, and I assumed that it would kick ass. Also, the early trailers showed that it was about the return of the Borg, which-- believe it or not-- was an unusual thing back in those days. That was in 1996, about 27 years ago. My dad wasn't too impressed with it, though. I think he sort of moved on from Star Trek not long after, which wasn't too difficult since the franchise began to peter out anyway. He still watched the old shows, but he wasn't looking for Voyager or Enterprise or anything like that.
I watched the J.J. Abrams reboot of Star Trek in 2009. That was 14 years ago. At some point it was available on-demand, so we watched it at my parents' house, and my dad saw the beginning of the movie, where a spatial anomaly opens up and the Narada emerges with his indistinct black metal and green highlights, and he groaned "Not the Borg again!" I mean, it wasn't the Borg, it was a Romulan mining ship from the future, but I couldn't blame him for mistaking it for a new Borg gimmick, since they use the exact same aesthetics for the Borg in 1996. And in 1997. And the rest of the Borg appearances in Voyager through 2001. And the Romulan ships in Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002. And... that shitty Borg episode of Enterprise from 2003. At some point, someone decided the Romulans and Borg hired the same interior decorator, and just never looked back. Anyway, my dad was fed up with the cliche, and that was 14 years ago.
So I had the same reaction when they kept showing the "Artifact" Borg Cube that was in Picard Season 1. They treated it like a big reveal at the end of the first episode, which is stupid because everyone already saw it in the trailers, and then everyone who hadn't seen the trailers got to see it in the opening credits. The Star Trek franchise is lousy with Borg, and it has been for so long that it's almost reflexive to use them, but what galls me is how they still treat it like some shocking, blood curdling twist. They literally just did a bunch of Borg stuff in Picard Season 1, and yet Season 2 opens with a spatial anomaly opening up, and a bunch of Borg shit coming out. It's just like Star Trek (2009) except my dad's right this time, it really is the Borg again, and the showrunners honestly think this is still a surprise, 27 years after it stopped being cool.
I mean, this is how low the bar is: When those machine god tentacles came out of the portal in Picard episode 10, I was relieved to see their home dimension was red instead of Borg/Romulan green. They had no choice, really. If they had gone with green, fans would wondered if the machine gods were somehow connected with the Borg and/or Romulans, which would have confused the story.
Anyway. Season 2 opens with a long, loooong setup to a mysterious message broadcast from a spatial anomaly, but I already knew it was the Borg because the anomaly was fucking green. Then a Borg ship comes out of it, because of course it does. But this show can't do anything quick, so everyone stares slack-jawed at the thing and Picard and Seven exchange knowing glances before she confirms that it's a Borg ship.
But no, it's totally fresh and different this time! Honest! These Borg want to negotiate! They even address Picard by his actual name instead of calling him "Locutus". Their queen wears a mask! Oh, and when she tries to assimilate the ship, she uses big chunky cables instead of those creepy tubule things. And Picard can't stop it, so he orders the ship to self-destruct... Wait, that's not different at all! That's the exact same thing he did in 1996!
Then Q zaps him out of it and apparently we're doing a whole other story instead. So let's take this as a cue (get it?) to talk about wasting time. Picard gave a speech for Starfleet Academy about time, and how precious it is, and how rare second chances are, which is filthy rich for a show like this.
Last time, I complained about how they got Raffi and Seven together without really giving the characters any on-screen time together. They literally have two scenes, and the second is where their holding hands. This episode adds a little more, but it also acknowledges that Rios and Jurati used to be an item, which I never mentioned before because I totally forgot it happened. Jurati and Rios were such hot messes in Season 1 that I had no idea if they were making out to distract themselves or if it was something more serious. So my complaints about the Seven/Raffi romance goes double for Jurati/Rios, because they broke up off-screen. Hell, for all I know, Raffi and Seven broke up too? This isn't insignificant. These are four of the main characters on this show! The showrunners paired them all off and it's like they don't even care!
But the cherry on top of all of this is Zhaban, one of the Romulans living with Picard in his French vinyard. Early in this episode, Piacard and the other Romulan, Laris, drink a toast to his memory, since he died 18 months prior. This bothered me, because I thought they meant he died in Season 1, and I couldn't remember that happening. So I looked him up and no. He just died sometime between seasons 1 and 2. Why would they write him off the show like this? Did the actor die? No, Jamie McShane's still alive today. Maybe he just didn't want to come back, or they couldn't afford him.
But more likely, they needed him out of the way to set up this romantic tension between Picard and Laris. Actually, I'm not sure that explains anything, since they never revealed Laris and Zhaban were married. Laris tells Picard that and he had no idea at all, so I assume this was meant to be a revelation. I sort of assumed they were a couple the whole time, but apparently the show felt the need to establish Zhaban was her husband just to make it clear that his death means she's single and she's ready to do the Picard Maneuver, if you get my drift.
And that right there is what's broken about this show. The Borg nonsense is a problem. The way they recycled the auto-destruct scene for the teaser and a late episode climax just to fill time? That is also a problem. Picard continuing to struggle with his fear of commitment well into his 90's? Kind of a problem. But the real problem is the slapdash way this show keeps approaching the characters. Why was Zhaban even in the show in the first place? He and Laris did everything together, and now he's gone and it hardly matters, since Laris can just handle the role herself. So why did they write him in?
That wouldn't be such a big deal to me if it was just Zhaban. He's a minor enough character that it wouldn't matter, like all those chief engineers on TNG Season 1. The showrunners were still figuring it out, I guess. But Picard pretends to be this thoughtful, highbrow experience, where all the callbacks are important and everything happens for a reason, and you're expected to find clues in all the easter eggs and prophetic dreams. Zhaban's unimportance proves that it's all a house of cards. The writers are just winging it.
I mean, I would expect the romances in the show to have some emotional weight, but they don't. Jurati's relationship with Bruce Maddox was only introduced right before she murdered him, and that was probably only done to add context to the murder. Jurati and Rios' relationship was so ephemeral that I didn't realize it was there. Raffi and Seven's romance reminds me of this little subplot they did with Nurse Ogawa near the end of TNG, where she and Dr. Crusher would gab about her off-screen love life. But Raffi and Seven are a big part of the main cast of Picard. Why set something like this up and then ignore it?
I keep going on about this, but the point I'm trying to make is that when I say the show wastes time, I don't mean that it's too long, or that not enough things happen to fill the runtime, or that the show is boring. Those statements are sometimes true, but the true issue here is that this show has its priorities mixed up. It spends too much time on things that don't matter and not nearly enough time on things that do. That's what makes it so incredibly frustrating to watch.

Webcomics Focus: "Not So Shoujo Love Story"
Tumblr media
Not So Shoujo Love Story tells the story of a girl whose "perfect love story" is derailed when a popular girl confesses her love to her.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog, and Wayback Machine. This was the tenth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on October 27, 2021. Also, this post has been slightly changed from the original.
Curryuku's comedic Not So Shojo Love Story is the story of Rei Chan, a super fan of shoujo manga, who wants Hansum Ochinchin, a pretty boy in the Koko High School, to be her boyfriend. However, this goal becomes more distant when Hanna Schulerin, a girl who became popular due to so-called "dumb reasons," declares that she loves Rei, catching Rei off guard. As the story moves forward, she begins to figure out her feelings toward Hanna, while Hanna's feelings become that much more clear.
Rei begins by facing a set of bullies with rhyming names (Pam, Bam, Jam, and Ham), whom she attacks after they ruin her manga. Hanna tells her to stay away from Hansum, but when Rei tells Hanna she is pretty, it sets in motion a series of events which disrupt Rei's objective. And her "love story" becomes something entirely different than what she had imagined, and continues to face challenges along the way.
Meanwhile, Hanna, who is junior council president of the student council committee, struggles with her popularity, something she want so escape, trying to figure out how to have a health relationship with people, and Hansum has a secret which no one expects.
Tumblr media
Hanna hugs Rei in the first episode
Not So Shoujo Love Story has compelling characters and storytelling. It pulled me in from the beginning and has kept me engaged throughout! There's Susan, a friend of Hanna and "rival" to Rei in terms of affection toward Hanna, who Rei labels "Hanna Dumbass" in her phone, and the dads of Rei and Hanna. The love stories of Hanna and Rei merge into one, whether Rei likes it or not, with Rei remembering back to when she met Hansum and was smitten with him after he called her hair style "pretty," but is heartbroken when he doesn't remember their first meeting.
At first, Rei is skeptical of Hanna calling her a "normie" and even wants time apart from her after the bullies try and pull them both apart. But, as the plot continues, she comes around to her and changes as a person. There's even funny anime references, like characters holding bread in their mouths, and the heroine tropes in manga.
The webcomic, which has more than 59 episodes and hundreds of thousands of subscribers, is written and illustrated by Curryuku. Aria Villafranca edits the webcomic, while Elliot and Alza also assist. Not So Shoujo Love Story is a reboot, as the original was on WebToon Canvas for 33 episodes. Curryuku, known as Curry for short, is a freelance artist and illustration who enjoys drawing yuri / girl's love stories such as this webcomic. I hope she continues to draw and create in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead!
Not So Shoujo Love Story reminds me of the beautiful animation and art in Kageki Shoujo! or the scenes in Cardcaptor Sakura, both of which are just as colorful and full of life as this webcomic. There is even a whole episode where Rei imagines herself as her dog, Taro, making me think of the episode of Cardcaptor Sakura where Sakura is shrunk down to small size, having to face insects and other animals which are "monsters," or another where she is trapped in a world resembling Alice in Wonderland.
Tumblr media
Hanna tells Rei she likes her in the third episode
Not So Shoujo Love Story is available to read on WebToon as a WebToon Original.
You can find Curryuku on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Soundcloud. The webcomic can be supported on Patreon.

The Lost Tomb Reboot Season 2
Episode 15 27:45-28:47
Not dead!  Yay!  Always a great way to start an episode!
Having trouble with the hit new search-and-find game, "Where's Liu Sang?" ? Here's an expert tip: in group scenes, always check the farthest possible corner.
Tumblr media
With everyone having been rescued by a timely immortal fighter duo, Xiaoge gives Wu Xie soft looks and gets hugged by Pangzi.  Liu Sang longs longingly.
Tumblr media
32:56-35:25
Oh, thank god, some planning.  Anything to get a break from Wu Xie and Xiaoge exchanging even more soft looks right in front of Liu Sang's salad.
Tumblr media
Episode 16
04:33-14:28
Liu Sang listens to the movement of enemies outside their cave with the gothic intensity of a heroine listening to a mad wife beat on the other side of her bedroom door.
Tumblr media
(Also, I couldn't get a good shot of it, but Jia Kezi is right there with him, learning how to listen, too. I'm not saying that Liu-Sang-who-lost-his-family breaks my heart by adopting new little brothers and sisters wherever his goes, but...)
The hardest part of writing this series is refraining from just captioning every photo with  "WHY ARE YOU SO PRETTY!?!?!"
Tumblr media
Having caught him mid-blink, I have one thing to say:  DEAR GOD, THE EYELASHES.
Tumblr media
Liu Sang may not have known Hei Xiazi long, but he's already sure that having Hei Xiazi look at you with that "I've got an idea!" smile cannot possibly be a good thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Your narrator at this point: "...I think I ship it.")
The plan is, as far as I can tell: 1: Put on mud-masks 2: Enter poison forest 3: ???? 4: Profit
Tumblr media
(*whimpers in adopted bro feels*)
Tumblr media
(Your narrator: "...okay, yeah, I'll ship that too.")
It turns out that Hei Xiazi's idea is: use Liu Sang's hearing to map the cave system and also pinpoint enemies in the fog.
First you tell him he’s vital to your plan, then you put him at the tail end of the dramatic lineup.
Tumblr media
There follows a decidedly sexy montage of Liu Sang using Pangzi's explosions to map the cave system.  HAND PORN, I'VE MISSED YOU!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pangzi says this and then Liu Sang looks after him like this and next thing you know we're knee-deep in PangSang feels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annnnnnd then they get attacked.  To think, before he met Wu Xie Liu Sang's life contained the ideal number of zombies: 0.
Tumblr media
(On a side note, I love the way Liu Sang fights.  It lacks the trained skill of some of the others, but it’s absolutely feral.)
As a reward, he gets to stand dramatically next to his ouxiang.
Tumblr media
Look, I'm not saying this episode is pushing the PangSang agenda, but...
Tumblr media
More hand porn as Liu Sang explains his map.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wu Xie wishes everyone a good night. Liu Sang and Pangzi exchange This Look.
Tumblr media
The author goes to have a lie down before her PangSang brain overheats.
Next time: What does it say when the poison forest zombies were the good part of your summer vacation?

"V was watched in more than 33 million homes, which amounted to 40 percent of all TV viewership. (The most popular series in America today, Yellowstone, averages 13.1 million viewers per episode.) V’s popularity spawned a second miniseries, then a weekly show, and decades later it was remade in a glossy 2009 reboot."
"The rebels gain strength from people on the margins of society—immigrants, blue-collar workers, the elderly, and even assorted outcasts and outlaws—while those with more established status in society grudgingly accept the Visitors’ gradual changes. A few humans even collaborate with the aliens, such as an embittered young man who derives power from reporting dissidents and a wealthy woman eager to elevate herself in the new hierarchy. She also happens to be the mother of Donovan, the alarm-raising journalist. “That was my mother,” Johnson says. “She was that woman.”"
"Englund, a favorite at sci-fi conventions around the world, recalls meeting a V superfan who proudly pulled down his collar to show off a neck tattoo of the alien symbol that adorns the Visitor hats, uniforms, and starships. It’s a long vertical line, with two horizontal dashes extending from the bottom left and top right. Two circles sit at the center. Englund felt obliged to explain the origin of that symbol. “He was horrified to hear it,” Englund says. “He literally did not connect the dots. Because if you connect the dots, it’s a swastika."

All Psyqualia Foreshadowing Pre-Aichi v. Kyou
Episode 1-Aichi recoils when he’s attacked by Kai (in the manga/reboot Psyqualia has a double edged sword effect where you feel your units pain)
Episode 2-Aichi’s Psyqualia aura appears
Episode 6-Ultra Rare is surprised that Aichi can activate the table which implies normies can’t activate it. Though it’s a bit iffy since other people can activate the table later on. Bushi probably forgot 😅. Also only Psyqualia users and Kai (but Takuto is gone at that point so whatever enhancement that is on the the shop has likely disappeared with him which allowed him to find it) can find PSY shop.
Episode 21-Aichi’s units react to Aichi looking directly at him and nodding (remember these are holograms not him imagining them)
Episode 22-Soul Saver Dragon compels Aichi to put her in his deck. Also we see a flash of Psyqualia.
Episode 23-Ren uses Psyqualia duh
Episode 33-Ren uses it again
Episode 35-Aichi’s fever dream and him unconsciously rebuilding his deck with Akane’s guidance
Episode 37-Aichi has a Psyqualia vision
Episode 38-Aichi’s Psyqualia vision comes to fruition
Episode 39 -Aichi’s sus behavior (dude he literally talks to Gancelot)
Episode 40-Aichi’s giga sus behavior (he has Psyqualia appear in his eyes briefly)
