When lowered all the way, an aircraft carrier elevator is somewhere around 30 ft above the water's surface, nearly the same height as an Olympic diving board. So now I'm just picturing Slider begging Iceman to do fancy dives and like starting off from a handstand and then doing a bunch of twists and flips and whatever divers do.

And when they're back in the ready room later that night to finish up some paperwork, Slider is telling the story of how he, Cougar, Iceman, and Goose all got hammered one night at the academy and dared Ice to climb into the ceiling tiles above the diving well and jumping down into the water. Slider can't stop laughing while he's telling the story of him and Ice trying to climb into the ceiling. The other pilots call bullshit but Slider protests saying he filmed the whole thing on Ice's video camera and tells them to just look at Ice because that is the face of a guilty man. And Ice is sitting on his chair hunched over with his head in his hands and face all red in embarrassment because those idiots always found a way to drag him into their shenanigans.

So I'm finally getting around to reading Solivaga and as you said you dont mind comments, I have to tell you, you cannot imagine the outrage I felt when "random passerby A" called Elias a "creep with blight". How dare you call our cute baby a creep, random passerby!! Hes precious and adorable!!

And, see, I know that, and you know that, but teens can be cruel... especially in that sort of setting (especially, especially when he's getting in the way of them ogling a Handsome Reaper.) First up:

The Moores

Lydia and Elyan Moore, to be precise. These two play a prominent role in the Truth Saga and especially Reckless Truth as the audience surrogates, introducing us to the twisted world of the Controller through the eyes of those who were left behind.

This sibling duo are the catalyst for the entire series and will play an important role in the lives of the other characters throughout, so it only makes sense to draw them first <3

Rewatching Lord of the Rings after years. In segments this week. And I'm stuck by how resonant it is to the war in Ukraine.

Even mom (we are both home now bc we expected to go on a day trip w my sister but she's sick) said when Merry was talking to the ents. How they think it doesn't affect them bc they're further removed from it. But you're part of this world! - we may be far from the war but it doesn't mean they don't matter! And it may eventually affect you directly if the evil isn't stopped! (Thankfully we are realizing sooner than World War 2, perhaps bc of the memory of it, how this is a clear war of expansion and it will affect more than Ukraine if the destructive empire isn't stopped)

And the women and kids hiding in Helms Deep are so similar to images of people hiding in bomb shelters.

It's not just history (which in part inspired Tolkien to write the books-- history he saw and experienced when it was not history but the present) but happening now. Evil wasn't vanquished forever but crawls back to life in a different form.

And especially Sam's speech. All of it was so relevant to now, I cried thru the whole thing.

I keep encountering females that “Hurt” their own feelings… I have to correct them .. “no some other individual did that you “… and I’m very clear when I say don’t put your past on me I’m not them .

Feels like I’m one of the last of a dying Breed in this wicked world morals are in check I’m a simple but educated man loyalty is unmatched I’m just in need of my match

i kept wondering why dongsik tells juwon 'you can just be yourself. stay calm and composed' when he knows for a fact that juwon has never really been like that at all and i think it's less 'go back to being' calm and composed and more 'keep acting' calm and composed. pretend because it balances us and centers me. something like that
