with how dark it is outside, it's easy to feel a sense of worry creep up your spine each passing moment akira doesn't return. did something happen? did he get lost because of how dark it is? what if he's hurt?

the vacant attic smells faintly of his scent, yet most of it is masked by the strong coffee from downstairs. the pillows along the end of his mattress are the strongest, and so, as embarrassing as you think this might be, you find yourself curling into them, basking in what he's left behind.

the sound of soft footsteps padding up the stairs quickly eases your nerves though, as you're quick to sit up at the familiar noise. a mumbled "i'm back," escapes his lips in the form of a yawn when he finally reaches the top. his eyes hardly have time to search the room for your figure as you meet him at his side, arms wrapping around the base of his neck and tightly squeezing.

"don't scare me like that," you whine into his neck, fingers curling through the thin material of his jacket. he smells like vanilla and sandalwood, sweet yet sensual; playful yet sophisticated—much more prominent than the scent that was left on his sheets. though, he feels fragile in your hold, like it's taking all his strength to keep both of your bodies standing upright. he must be tired.

akira's hands find solace in your waist, relishing in the feeling of your warmth combining with his as he gently massages the supple skin. "scare you?" he asks, pulling away just enough to have his eyes meet yours. they're filled with exhaustion, each blink slower and longer than the last.

there's blatant confusion written all over his face though, with the way his head tilts and eyebrows furrow toward the middle of his forehead and you almost want to flick him for it. "do you have any idea how late it is?" your statement is laced with worry yet you can't help but be baffled at how oblivious he is.

realization washes over his features almost instantly when he recognizes your anxiety. "i'm sorry for making you wait," he mumbles, fingers reaching for yours to loosen the grip on his shoulder. he doesn't have to do much prying before your hand willingly rests in his, placed in between his thumb and forefinger. his grip is delicate and the angle makes him raise your interlocked hands, a drawn-out kiss pressed against your knuckles. "really sorry."

akira's hands are warm against your cold ones, and for a moment you worry if he's put off by it and will pull away. after all, they're like ice. he doesn't seem to mind though when he shifts your hand upwards, pressing another kiss— this time to your palm. it's lazy but not half-hearted. if anything it's more sincere than ever, and your heart flutters as if it's the first time you're meeting.

your fingers graze his cheek as his skin warms your own. the action nearly makes you shiver, suddenly yearning for him to kiss you again and again and again.

and somehow, despite nearly toppling over from exhaustion, akira seems to read your mind, kissing your palm a second time and peppering even more down the expanse of your wrist. it tickles, the gentle pecks mixed with the softness of his lips yet you can't find the desire to stop him. "i suppose i can forgive you this one time."

akira chuckles lowly, breath fanning against your skin. "i'm glad."

"let's go to sleep, yeah?"

Akira felt the familiar buzz of his phone, half expecting it to be one of his phantom thief accomplices. He stifled a groan seeing instead, it was Takemi.

“is there anyway you could come by today ? I’d like to do a few tests.”

Akira sighed, responding back with a “sure, be there soon”. He didn’t mind being tae takemis “guinea pig”, it was just the aftermath of her work that truly bothered him.

He waited for the day to go by, hours turned to minutes as he was almost dreading leaving his spot, a bit fearful of what was to come. finally, it was time to go. He said a quick goodbye and half rushed to takemis clinic. The quicker he got the test done the better.

He had finally made it, slowing his pace as he walked through the doors; Takemi immediately taking notice of him. “Afternoon my Guinea Pig; please come to the back. I have a special treat for you today.” Was it a blood test? Maybe she would have him run up and down the streets of Yongen-Jaya to see the effects of her medicine. He was lost in thought as he lazily opened the door, being met with unfamiliar eyes.

“Akira, this is [Last name] [First name] she’s going to be my assistant for a while. Today she’s going to be the one administering the medication to you. I’ll be in the front waiting. If you need any help, please feel free to come get me.” Takemi says, waving a lazy goodbye as she walked to the front desk, closing the door behind her. Akira blinked, slowly turning his head to you. it all happened so fast he couldn’t get a word in. When had takemi gotten an assistant ?

Never the less, he relaxed, nodding in your direction. “Nice to meet you as well. I’m Kurusu Akira .” He wondered if the rumors in Shujin about him had met your ears by now.. unless you dropped out ? Is that why you were working here ?? Akira had so many questions, but obviously wasn’t going to ask.

“Well ? Are you going to sit down ?” You asked, extending an arm to the bed beside him.

He sat down, placing his bag down on the floor. You turned around in the rolly chair, clipboard in hand flipping back and fourth between a few pages. You sighed, looking up from your papers to examine him. Your eyes lingered on him for a moment, looking away as soon as he looked up from his bag.
