Recent watches on Letterboxd. Love when there happens to be commonalities in poster design or a pattern that forms. The black and the blue, the spaced out text and the upside down images...very interesting 🤔

I imagine Vasco and Ludovica have a big painting (portrait but with two people) in Vasco's house (probably his father insisted of getting one of these, people used to do it in the old days, especially wealthy ones). While it's very serious and formal, in the way all these portraits were, it is also very intimate (at least it's implications). I imagine Machete just staring at it sometimes, feeling small while looking at the big painting. And sad, maybe jealous but I don't think he'd resent Ludovica. He, most of all, understands.

I’m sorry but how are we calling Art Donaldson the loser when Patrick Zweig is right there, smirking, moaning and resenting every little piece of his life that doesn’t have Art in it. He wants to be him, he wants to be with Tashi, he wants her as HIS coach, he want his place as the best back, he wants to go back to how it was before, he wants Art to himself again, he wants to be close to him, he wants to touch him, he wants to kiss him, he wants to be him kissing, he wants the praise, the fame, the wife, the husband, hell at this point he might even want to wear his skin like a suit just to be inside him in every way possible.

I see your ‘house and Wilson are inevitably just very fucked up, the only reason they work so well is that they are both unhinged and it wouldn’t be right to subject anyone else to them’ and raise you ‘they are intimately capable of soft love and I think would be able to give it to each other- quick kisses, smiles etc. however they also need a level of prank and mental enrichment that they can only ever get from each other’

rewatching early txf and seeing mulder and scully when they are so young and so enamored with each other is so heavy…they are so excited to have met each other and they are going to go through so much together…they are going to lose their entire families together. they are going to lose time and autonomy and health together. they are going to live together and die together and nearly die together and never die together. they are going to have and lose a child together, and see that loss in each other for the rest of their lives. they are going to look to each other anyway, for everything, and say things like “i’m always happy to see you” and “always happy to find a reason” even at their most distant and estranged. she doesn’t know it then, but running out into the rain after him in bellefleur will be the end of the life that she imagined for herself. she doesn’t know it then, but it will lead to the loss of her safety and her family and her career and her children. and when she does know all of those things, she says “i would do it all over again.” she says “i wouldn’t change a day.” she says “i don’t begrudge you any of those things.” she says “i want to remember how it all was.” and if she could do it all over again, she would still chase him into the rain and laugh when he said that aliens were summoning the kids to the forest and ask him where they were going next and follow to wherever the answer was. because they would rather do this life together than do any other apart.

brittany broski saying that being asked to ‘address the situation in the middle east’ is ‘dystopian’ and ‘like a black mirror episode’ is insane to me like I’m sorry self-proclaimed feminist and activist, you can bawl at the barbie movie but caring about the living breathing women and girls in palestine is complete ABSURDITY?

Do you‐uhh.
Do you ever think that the Green kids resent Alicent for being on Rhaenyra's side?
Because um. Obviously watching their gaslit, grief-stricken mother charging and making the Princess bleed for Aemond loosing an eye with no justice is harrowing and incredible and terrifying. (Our mother loves us! She's begging for our Father to care! She slashed the Princess! She does love us!) And then years later Alicent is telling Aegon to spare Rhaenyra, holding Rhaenyra's arm infront of them at supper.
Did they ever feel as if they were the late ones? The invaders? Do you think they felt as if it was a constant fight for their Mother's affections? Can you imagine the reproach they mustve felt, knowing that they were unwanted (What have I done but what was expected of me?) watching their mother raise hell for them, then always looking around for one of the objects of their agony?

i've put some thought into it because i LOVE frank and his son of neptune arc especially but like...did his mom need to be dead for it? i'm so back and forth on this like sacrifice and duty are obviously big parts of his arc but i feel like he could have had the same angst if his mom was just absent. idk. also his mom died SIX WEEKS before son of neptune which no one remembers because he doesn't behave like someone who's mom died six weeks ago (or like someone who only learned about being a demigod six weeks ago).

Roxas: Had the Halloween town kids throw bombs in his face for multiple missions in a row before finally breaking down and smacking them around a bit.
Ventus: The dwarves were rude and refused to talk to him, immediately resorted to chasing them down and whacking them.
Characterization I see frequently: Ah, yes, Roxas is the one always willing to throw hands and Ventus is a smol sunshine boy.

I don't begrudge anyone their campaign preferences, and I think there's plenty of valid reasons to like Campaign 3 the best and this is not directed at people who are genuinely having a great time with it, but it feels like virtually all the nostalgia and wishful thinking I see surrounding Campaign 3 is screaming "you guys want Campaign 2." You want more slow travel and downtime and interparty conversations and slow-burn romance? You wish their main focus was fighting governmental corruption? You want a party that only semi-settles down at the end and keeps adventuring and remains very close? You're frustrated by how everpresent and overarching the moon plot is? You miss when they were just fucking around in a city? I genuinely believe you want Campaign 2, or at best you love a specific ship or a character from Campaign 3 but aren't happy about basically anything else, and would vastly prefer the tone and events and plot of Campaign 2. And I don't really care if you watch Campaign 2, or if you think I'm being annoying here; I simply genuinely believe you'd be happier watching Campaign 2 than Campaign 3 and are so deep in a sunk cost fallacy well you can't see it.

Just imagining Dipper's parents finally trying to get their shit together and rekindle their relationship with the twins after several years of almost no contact, only to show up in town and 1. Dipper doesn't recognize them at first, and 2. When they remind him who they are, his brain scrambles for a second because, in his head, his "Dad" is already in the shack, scamming groups of tourists for loose change. He nearly goes, "huh? But my dad is-," and points to the shack, before catching up with his brain and realizing who he's talking to
