Ooh... So Rex doesn't strike me as the type of man who would look around if he already had a cyar'ika, HOWEVER, I was able to use the 'you're mine' aspect of the song.

Warnings: a little bit of hot sauce in this one. Honestly kinda surprised that I wrote it like that...making out. Angst if you squint. Sfw though. Also I'm sorry this is so short I couldn't go anywhere after it.

Love Will Keep us Together (Rex x Reader)

He was due home today. Home. That had a nice ring to it.

You heard the front door open and close.

You heard plastoid being stacked.

You heard the footsteps nearing.

You were practically bursting with excitement when you were hauled into a warm embrace and his lips crashed into yours.

Rex's heart beat in unison with yours as the two of you moved flawlessly across the bedroom floor, never once breaking the string of passionate kisses.

You hadn't seen him in a month and a half, and you were quite ready to make up for lost time.

"Oh, cyar'ika," Rex groaned against your lips, catching them again with a slight nip, which he soothed with his tongue. Slowly, he leaned his body weight forward, cuing you to fall back onto the bed. He let himself fall too, only catching himself with his hands on either side of your head.

Something burned deep inside of you, shooting from your stomach up to your neck and plunging down to your legs like a rocket gone crazy. The way his lips felt against your skin was mesmerizing, every sharp movement guaranteed to be countered by a gentle touch.

"Re-e-x!" You whimpered as his teeth grazed your collarbone, right above the neckline of your shirt. As always, the spot was granted a kiss.

Your hands ran over his buzzed hair and he let out a content sigh, letting his head fall on your chest. One of his hands seeking out the hem of your shirt, he slid it underneath to caress your warm skin.

"I missed you." He murmered, placing a kiss to your chest.

"I missed you too." You giggled. "That was quite a way to say hello."

He smiled when the beautiful sound reached his ears. "My Mesh'la shouldn't be lonely." He pouted. "'M sorry."

"You don't need to apologize, Rex. 'M not lonely right now, am I?"

A look flashed in his eyes and his hand slid further under your shirt, just like the blush creeping up your neck.

"No you're not Mesh'la, I'm right here."

You laughed with a mischievous grin. "Want to show me how much you missed me?"

"Gladly, ner cyare."

Touchy subject

Din just tried to figure out what the colour of the clones' armor paint meant, and why he's never heard Rex mention his CO during all the wartime stories and lectures; whereas he's already got to meet Wolffe and his general and even heard Cody mention his every once in a blue moon. (Special thanks to @witchydom for helping with the "dialogue" :3)

I'll take a bit of your time to give a bit of an explanation why I decided to put Rex in Skelly's spot:

During a playthrough when I was looking for screenshots to use as backgrounds the first thing that greeted me was Zagreus calling Skelly "Captain" upon entering the armoury, or whatever that chamber is called. And that really decided it, let's be honest. Rex is Captain, and that is the Captain's spot. End of story.

Reading "still got it" by qigiined even before I got into watching TCW was such a personality defining experience (seriously, this fic lives forever rent free in my brain), that I really had no other option but to put the few clones that I'm willing to work into this AU somewhere around home base (the covert) - so you can guess where Cody and Wolffe are situated. Or will be, hopefully soon enough. Rex needs to be able to hang out with Cody, that's just how it is. (Rebels and TBB canon who?)

Rex deserves to teach some uppity Mando bounty hunters and other warriors who think too much of themselves a few lessons in humility and some crafty tricks. I think it would be very good for him.

As a throwaway note since we are already under the read more section, I've been thinking about sigils and keepsakes (trinkets) and cthonic companions (I know that over a year ago I inaccurately but very self indulgently designed one for Din, Boba and Cobb, that is not the point now) and while Cody can have one shaped like Boga, and Wolffe can obviously get a stuffed loth wolf (and Bo-Katan a very squishy owl)... I have no idea what shaped companion Rex could have. If anyone has any suggestions and would love to share it with me, I'd be very grateful!
