So let's talk about Vivziepop's designing skills!

The amount of sadness I feel when I see Vivziepop's designs of the demons in Helluva Boss is impossibly high

Simply comparing them from where she is pulling from feels like looking at a newborn compared to a grandma. Now let's go through them!

Lucifer

Viv's Lucifer, a popular depiction of Lucifer ("The Fallen Angel" by Alexandre Cabanel), and one with Jesus ("The Temptation of Christ" by Ary Scheffer)

You can see a big difference in a lot, as you can see Lucy (which will be Viv's version) has well. Clothing but we can give her a pass for that as I don't think Youtube would be fine with an animated dick on screen. Another thing is his lack of wings, bat-like or feathered along with blonde instead of red curled hair and yellow eyes instead of the blue Lucifer has in The Fallen Angel.

But what I see as the biggest thing is Lucy's lack of muscles! In both of these depictions I have chosen Lucifer appears muscular whilst Lucy has Viv's favorite smile and body shape.

Asmodeus

Here we have Viv's Asmodeus (Ozzie) and Asmodeus from Collin de Plancy's "Dictionnaire Infernal"

I will give Viv major props, I LOVE Ozzie's design. If we removed the feathers, made his head bigger, and some small things it would be AMAZING! But comparing it to Asmodeus it's... wooo.... very different.

First you can see is Asmodeus does not look conventionally attractive with his strange old man face, elf ears, bull head, ram head, serpent tail, and literal chicken legs. Ozzie does have the 2 heads on his shoulders (just very small) and a tail (not a serpent one) but other than that the similarities end. Though I do think taking Asmodeus the direction to being physically attractive to most people was a good way to go.

A personal nit pick is the clear lack of a BADASS DRAGON. Yes, Asmodeus has a BADASS DRAGON. On his little Dictionnaire Infernal image he's sitting on a BADASS DRAGON which he holds a banner as he rides. Viv you could have made Fizz a cool dragon demon! Make him look LESS like Blitz's twin brother and more like something that related to the Ars Goetia canon.

Beelzebub

Now this is Viv's Beelzebub and a fly-like Beelzebub (Beelzebul) (I've left out the more manly versions of Beelzebub to keep it fair as Beelzebub is a woman)

So a big thing we can see is Beelzebub is a furry whilst Beelzebul is a straight up fly, taking the term "Lord of the Flies" much more seriously. Now comparing these two is basically impossible minus their wings and extra arms. Now with them looking nothing alike I'll put some of my own personal critique's in.

One, Beelzebub's hair and tail makes me want to vomit. It's constantly moving thus every frame it must be moved which is HORRIBLE on an animation stand point. Two, Her clothes. A direct quote from the Helluva Boss wiki says "Beelzebub represents the animal tamer/animal shows" when her clothing looks like that it's hard to believe. If it was casual clothes? Okay I'd believe that but it being her debut episode wouldn't you want her in her normal clothes? And that's ignoring her magical disappearing bra... is that just an arm strap? Three, the ear thing. God the ear thing! Viv said they were supposed to appear like beehives... girl what beehives have you been seeing? Maybe she meant honeycomb? Still I see zero resemblance.

Mammon

Here we have Viv's Mammon, Mammon (Mam) from the painting "The Worship of Mammon" by Evelyn De Morgan, and Mammon (Mon) from Collin de Plancy's "Dictionnaire Infernal"

As we can see Mammon looks like the Teen Titans Go Robin mixed with a Christmas tree, the Christmas theming is quite clever I'll give Viv that. Christmas is a time of greedily taking all that is given to you through gifts. Now I could complain about how Mammon is poor rep for a fat character and simply is a widened version of her normal body type but I already made a post about that

But comparing him to Mam and Mon? Nothing similar. Mam we can see appears like a very large naked buff dark skinned man whilst Mon is a freakish old man with wide eyes and tattered clothes. Mammon shares zero similarities to either of them.

Another thing is Mammon's monster form... I believe everybody has seen it and hochie momma it is HORRIBLE! From the screenshots I've seen we don't see all of it but he's clearly intended to be a spider of sorts which is great! Spiders can often be seen with 6 flies trapped on their web being hoarded for later but Viv seems to have taken the lazy route of extra legs and 2 extra set of eyes. Anthro spiders can be so so SO cool but I feel scammed. Stolen from. My life savings have been taken by this shitty design.

Paimon

Here we have Vivziepop's Paimon and Paimon (Paimonia) from Collin de Plancy's "Dictionnaire Infernal"

As we can see they appear nothing alike minus the crown and odd chicken legs though Paimon lacks the camel that Paimonia has. Paimonia also has a feminine face and a humanoid body, nothing like Paimon. Though I personally think Paimon's design is stunning what made Viv connect the two, is it because the Goetia family is intended to all be ripped from the Ars Goetia? I feel though that Paimon's design takes as much as it can from Paimonia while making him look related to Stolas but why does he need to be named Paimon?

Stolas

Here we have Vivzie's Stolas and Stolas (Stolos) from Collin de Plancy's "Dictionnaire Infernal"

So, I have a lot of issues with Stolas's design, it's ugly first of all but compared to Stolos's cute yet shocked wide eyes and charming little beak it's even more obvious how ugly it is.

First, Stolos is shown as an owl (but also is described as a Raven). which Viv got right along with keeping his crown and odd horn-like feathers. However, I believe making Stolas that skinny doesn't follow the model of most owls as they can be pretty fluffy and plump. Even Stolos has a round fluffy chest that trails into his comically long legs.

Second, that cape is very horrifying but not in a good way. Nobody wants to animate a cape with that many rips! Even if they don't have to be precise. Also, why do his buttons have no lineart when everything else around it has lineart? I have the same issue with Blitz's design and his random chest orbs.

🐛It's okay, he doesn't care if that big, happy grin on his face is any indication, especially when he finally stumbles(falls) into you.

🐛You have to force him to sit down since he just wants to give you hugs but keeps falling when he tries to pick you up.

🐛He will wrap you in all of his arms and lay his head on yours.

🐛That dopey, lovesick smile on his face is everything, even if he's drunk.

Frank Frankly

📚This man a perfect mix of reckless and clean freak.

🦋Like, he will start cleaning obsessively, then make a mess moments later trying to chase a moth he thought was a butterfly.

📚Of course he doesn't make it far, either you grab him or he trips, either way you caught him.

🦋He keeps trying to chase "butterflies"

📚Eventually harassed Howdy about turning into a butterfly.

🦋Pretty soon after he clocks out and passes out on the grass.

📚You carry him home, or drag him, and get him in his bed. You stay to ensure he doesn't make up and try to do something stupid.

🦋He wakes up the next morning and remembers absolutely nothing, but is very embarrassed when you tell him.

Alicent had come to Criston to watch over her second daughter while they were searching for a betrothal. She mentioned Aegon being a nuisance. The knight raised his brows and stated, “Forgive me my queen, but those two don’t mix.” Complete opposites really. The green queen demurely put a hand on his chest, uttering, “Trust me on my his one, yes?”

He kneeled. “Yes my queen. My word as my honor.”

He wouldn’t fail her. That heavenly woman. But Criston wrinkled his nose knowing where he would find the sweet princess next. The cavernous Dragonpit, where Cole’s horse whinnied and stamped upon the smell of Dragon.

The second princess spent most of her time with or on her beloved he-dragon Crimsontail. An apt name, as the beast was a burnished copper that faded into a bright red tail. Criston ordered a dragonkeeper to lead him to Crimsontail’s nest. He grew wary of the sounds of the beasts all around.

There she was, attentive to her dragon, brushing him with something. Criston remembered her demonstrating that dragons shed and would have issues along their backs and tails, sometimes hind legs. He rolled his eyes, between Aemond and her he wasn’t sure who spent more time researching Ancient Valyria. So why was Alicent so worried about Aegon?

She had blossomed in a beautiful young woman at 10-and-8. She took after the Targaryen side in looks, angular features furrowed as she focused on the task at hand. Her dark blonde hair was braided up. Nothing like the doe eyes and soft cheeks of Aegon and Helaena. Some likened her to the ruggedly beautiful Queen Who Never Was, Rhaenys.

Finding her a match was going to be…difficult. Alicent was combing through the Reach lords, even some Dornish. House Tyrell was out of the equation with their lord as a toddling babe. The princess was painfully shy around lords and ladies. She spoke to the boys in the yard and her family minus Aegon. Criston and the girl were close.

She chirped, shucking down thick scales, “Ser Criston, what brings you here? Just straightening out Crimsontail so we can fly soon.” The knight loved to see her fly, twirling and dipping above the Blackwater. Alicent had restricted most of that since familial tensions were growing.

“You do remember what-,”

“Yes I know Ser Cole. Keep the flying to a minimum. Don’t want to smell of dragon when being presented to the Reach lords. Why can’t you just marry me to Aemond or something? That’s what us Targaryen’s do right?”

Criston frowned. He didn’t want her off in the Reach either, chained up and unable to fly. Didn’t really want her with stuffy Aemond either.-l

Upon returning to the Red Keep, Criston could estimate Aegon was probably still sleeping off a hangover in his chambers. Beelining towards the wayward prince’s chambers he busted open the door with a pauldron. Aegon flailed and sat his bed-mussed head up.

“Fuck, ugh, what Cole?”

Criston stepped forward and seethed, “Stop spreading shite to stress your sister out. She’s nerve wracked as is with the potential betrothals.”

Aegon snorted, laying back down laughing, “S’not bullshit Cole, mum will shuck her off with a Redwyne, they’re very keen and have that fleet.” Criston exhaled sharply through his nose, “Don’t interact with her, okay?” He stomped out, slamming the door, Aegon’s delirious laugh echoing.

Criston frowned once again. Looked like he was going to do some servant quarters rounds tonight. Because those two interacting was strange. Who did not look happy, mouth turned down as if she might cry.

Aegon’s voice grew dim. Criston watched him look over at his non-married sister and stare for a second too long. Aemond brought him back with a flick to the shoulder, bickering beginning again. More fodder for Criston’s investigation. Then she exploded, “I don’t want to marry that old man mother! Why cannot I marry Aemond? We are of like age, powerful riders, it will keep the blood strong.”

She wept as Otto and Alicent explained the need for their power when the cunt on Dragonstone struck. Aegon added, “That’s shite, we need more dragons hatched, marry her to the weed here.” Aemond remained silent, always in agreement with the Hightowers, Helaena trying to console her sibling.

Dinner ended with an abrupt snap from the Queen, sending everyone their separate ways. Only she and Criston remained. Alicent picked and chewed at her nails, the knight reminding her to stop. Doe eyes stared up at him, beseeching, “I don’t. I don’t want to do that to her. But I must.” Criston nodded in understanding.

“Our future must be secured. She may grow to love the man yet. The dragon is close to Old Town and Daeron. Aegon is too interested in schemes like this. I shall be infiltrating his quarters around the hour of the wolf. I will inform Steffon of the princess.” He knelt and kissed Alicent’s shaking hand, murmuring, “We will get this under control my Queen.” She nodded, frayed and shaken, leaving the room to walk with Lord Hand Otto.

He needed to change now.

Criston slunk through the servant’s hallways, tight and stuffy from the heat. He wiped sweat from his brow, checking his map. The knight drew near to Aegon’s quarters. As he got closer, muffled noises were heard. At the door, Criston stopped. Like a force beyond him stilled his hand.

“Aegon, I don’t know, I want to support the family.”

“Fuck the family, they’re sending you off for the grand war they want. The arbor, pfft, maybe you’ll see Daeron.”

this is a highschool au - mostly similar to the movieverse, but everyone is powerless, there's no ninja, and garmadon is incarcerated in jail. lloyd montgomery and harumi jade are enemies (to friends) to lovers, and they're forbidden lovers because of status quos

main notes:

harumi does not have the traits of being a princess in the canon (kindhearted, sweet) because that was a mask that she wore; that was not her. in this au, harumi is sarcastic, bold, risky, and wants to let go of her bitter past. no, she is not vengeful nor is she manipulative, but she is one of the four founders of the bikers

lloyd's personality is a mix of the show (mellow, sassy) and the movie (quiet, compassionate). yes, he's a nerd - he's part of the dungeons & dragons club and loves starfarer

the bikers are a semi-large group of delinquents who like to ride bikes and motorcycles and are like a found family for each other, mainly consisting of high school teenagers and young adults. the bikers are commonly rumored to be a gang of thieves, but within the bikers, their only real motive is simply to be a shoulder to lean on for each other in the group. the founders include harumi, killow, violet (UV), and echo (mr. e), and they usually occupy laughy's karaoke bar on friday nights

the dungeons & dragons club is run by mr. wu, lloyd's uncle, and they meet once every wednesday. the club consists of lloyd montgomery, kai and nya smith-jiang, jay walker, cole brookstone, zane julien, and morro wu. their current campaign is a story about a team of ninja trying to fight off a ghost who's taken the green ninja, lloyd, captive and under control

plot (so far):

harumi is one of the “popular students you’d want to avoid + rumored to do illegal activities with a gang” kind of people

lloyd is known to be part of the d&d club at school and being friends with the ninja (due to being part of the d&d club), and regularly hangs out with the ninja (minus morro) at school

harumi and lloyd know each other by name and surface level information (harumi heavily rumored to be part of a gang + doing illegal activities, lloyd being your local d&d and starfarer nerd). they’re in opposing groups at school which lowers chances of interaction by an extreme

that is until lloyd and harumi get stuck in detention after school

after they leave school at a later hour, lloyd and harumi get stuck in a sticky situation (that i haven’t figured out what it’d be yet) and they have to depend on each other to get them both out. tooon of banter and insults, sarcasm and sassy quips

eventually they find the bus station and they sit on opposite aisles, ignoring the other because “he’s so annoying” and “she’s extremely reckless”. but then lloyd eventually caves in and thanks harumi for helping them out. harumi doesn’t say thanks back for his help

after that incident (which surprisingly no one knows about), they start noticing each other more often outside of the surface level information they have of each other. sometimes in hallways, they make accidental brief eye contact, but they don't do anything else to acknowledge each other. lloyd’s okay with not having to talk to her at all

one week after the incident, there’s a note left on his desk in neat (though unfamiliar) handwriting that’s telling him to meet at the docks at 4pm after school today. nya leans over his desk to read the note, and lloyd has a gut feeling that he knows who the note's from. nya tails him to the docks

lloyd finds harumi in a secluded area away from the crowded areas in the shadows of one of the warehouses. harumi tosses him a keychain of one of the characters from starfarer. lloyd never knows if she ever stole that keychain or not, but he finally agrees to take it as a thank you note from harumi

the next day, his backpack is seen with the starfarer character keychain dangling from one of the zippers

hanging out / eventual dates:

at some point, harumi drags lloyd along to a party and encourages him to relax and do some illegal activities with her (underage drinking, sneaking in/out), which lloyd reluctantly agrees to

but surprisingly he finds excitement in sneaking out and meeting harumi after curfew

when the ninja and koko find out who lloyd’s been hanging out with:

their suspicion about harumi is collective

i imagine kai specifically tails him sometimes just to be sure harumi doesn’t make any weird moves on lloyd

the ninja ask lloyd why he’s been hanging out with a delinquent to which lloyd argues that she’s not a delinquent, but their words about harumi stick with lloyd

but overall they mainly miss lloyd because he’s been abandoning d&d sessions to hang out with harumi

at some point, probably a little over 6 months since becoming friends with harumi, koko grounds lloyd for sneaking out, which eventually causes lloyd to tell the truth about harumi

the excuse he uses to his friends and family when it comes to hanging out with harumi is that “i want to just be her friend outside of criminal activity” but to himself he’s like “i can fix her.”

koko wants to be supportive of lloyd, but she doesn’t want lloyd to make the same mistake of falling in love with a criminal. koko forbids lloyd from seeing harumi again

this is also when lloyd realizes he’s falling in love with harumi and he berates himself for falling in love with someone who has a bad reputation. “this is literally the worst person you could ever fall in love with what is wrong with you you need to stop being friends with her” that kind of thing

but also she’s like a drug to him. like he wants to be around her and he wants to learn more about her, he loves hanging out with her. like there’s nothing holdin' me back by shawn mendes energy do u get what i mean

when the bikers finds out who harumi’s been hanging out with:

the bikers would be pretty surprised that harumi has been hanging out with someone who’s pretty adamant against breaking the law of all people, but as long as harumi's happy, they’re happy too

they definitely question harumi if she likes him, and she denies any romantic feelings towards lloyd (she has been denying any romantic feelings towards lloyd for months by now)

at laughy's, harumi distances herself from the bikers, looking out the window as she tries to sort her thoughts out. ultra violet notices her strange behavior and they talk for a bit

killow and mr. e reassure that all the bikers care about harumi, and if she wants to focus more on dating, they'll support her

mr. e at one point realizes that the guy harumi has a crush on is e's boyfriend's younger cousin and they take a moment to process this information (yes i'm being self-indulgent and adding citrusshipping / morro x echo)

harumi comes to terms that she does have romantic feelings for lloyd, but she's afraid that if she tells him, he'll want to leave because it'll be so awkward and they're already good friends and she doesn't want to ruin that friendship by admitting her feelings for him

HOTD EP 1 Rewrite

Ep 5 is giving heavy season 8 of GoT vibes so I'm saving myself the pain and just rewriting all the mistakes they made so far so I dont go insane in the coming weeks. I will reblog this post with each episode rewrite as they come, but heres ep 1:

*Disclaimer* I am making sure most of the plot points are still included in the rewrite whether I like them or not.

As much as I love the north opening, we save that for a bit later. Instead, we get a rainy shot of King's Landing. Its dark out and there i thunder and rain etc. We see a pair of boots walking through the halls, rushed and hasty and the music matches as well. The person's breath is also huffy and puffed, and we get shots of the water on their coat, and then a shot of Aemond's eyes as he rushes to a room.

The door barges open and Aemond comes into a room where Aegon is being lectured by Alicent and Otto. They become quiet and Alicent gets up to see what's wrong. Aemond admits what he did and Alicent slaps him, crying out "Mother help us all". We get a quick shot of Aegon witnessing the slap (yk, for character parallel reasons), and Otto begins yelling at him "my grandson is a fool" style. The camera focuses on Aegon a while and we see him almost sympathizing with his brother, so he puts on this fake act and laughs, saying that they should hold a feast, celebrating their first victory.

Back at Dragonstone, we watch as Rhaenyra rides Syrax out to find Luke in the sea, and follow Daemon and Rhaenys as they leave the dragonpit to discuss with the team. Daemon has his dialogue with Rhaenys about Laena and they make their way to the council. Team Black is all there minus Jace, and they discuss how to set up the best defence in the time they need to raise an army and attack again, since Aemond's move is OFFENSIVE. They mention how Dragonstone is unsafe, they mention how another threat is Daeron in Oldtown with his dragon, and they mention what good the North can realistically provide and how they can strategize with their travels south. Daemon then suggests using Harrenhall as a fort, since it is the crux of the Riverlands and would give them the best land defence. When contested that Harrenhall is in ruin, Daemon will explain that they have the advantage with dragon numbers and the sea with the blockade, they have some leverage that can be spent on the necessities that Harrenhall requires.

We are taken back to Rhaenyra where the sun is beginning to set, and the fishermen find a wing. Rhaenyra flies in on Syrax, finds Arrax's wing and we get the fantastic performance by Emma D'arcy that brought us all to tears. The sounds of Rhaenyra's sobs are manipulated by the audio to transition into the laughter and fun that the Greens are having at KL during the feast. Alicent is PISSED and leaves early, meanwhile Helaena and Aemond sit next to one another in discomfort. Maybe some dialogue here but idk what, but these two need more interactions.

Aegon ofc is the only one having fun, he's drunk off his mind and laughing with his idiot kingsguard friends. During this, Aegon drunkenly makes a toast and jokes about Aemond being a kinslayer, Aemond does not like the title and it comes off as Aegon's weird form of bullying (since we have to transition this kinda buildup and not bring it out of nowhere between the 2 years of s1 and s2) At Dragonstone again, Rhaenyra is coming back and Daemon is facing the fireplace holding a scroll. When he looks at her, he slams the scroll into the table and tells her that he will bring Aemond to his knees. Rhae is confused but its comforting bc she's in shambles. Daemon storms out and Rhaenyra reads the note, which gives word about the feast.

(Insert something here about Daemon and Mysaria setting up B&C)

(Insert Aemond brothel scene #1 here, and he reveals he regrets killing Luke etc etc)

When Daemon meets B&C, he tells them a son for a son, find Aemond Targaryen. if not, slay Aegon's heir. The men share a weird glance but they agree. We get the montage ofthe pair going into the castle as ratcatchers, with Aegon drunk and Helaena and Alicent putting the kids to bed. BnC burst into the room, blood binds Alicent whilst Cheese grabs the twins (who are still awake). Since the kids are so young, they cannot tell which is the son, so they force Helaena to pick. Helaena, dazed, begins to cry and says to kill her instead. Cheese tells her they only want the boy, so she lies and points at Jahaera. Cheese laughs and says the line, "Do you hear that little girl? Your mommy wants you dead", revealing that they know she's lying. At that, they shove Jahaera at Helaena and go to kill Jahaerys. Helaena starts screaming and freaking out. Bc of how gruesome the scene is I wouldn’t have the the acc death shown, but rather how her screams echo in the halls. Aegons reaction to the sound, the guards rushing towards her room.

Aegon bursts through the doors and sees Helaena on the ground crying and screaming saying “they killed my boy”

A final shot of Aegon having it dawn on him that the war is in full swing and absorbing the first “consequence”.

Edit; I removed Alicole entirely, bc as much as I’ve tried to rationalize it I hate it. FnB has Alicent calling Cole out for being a creep when Rhaenyra is young, so if the show has Alicent experiencing years of this kind of experience, why would she choose to be with someone like him once she gets fo leave the relation with Viserys? Plus, Alicent experiencing this moves her character forward in fully dealing with the fact that her push for the throne doesn’t go without major pushback.

House of the Dragon

Aemond and Criston as buddies and co conspirators is like an anti-bromance. It’s like Criston’s toxic personality is seriously rubbing off on Aemond. I wonder how Aemond would feel if he knew his bestie was fucking his mother. Criston still bitter over Rhaenyra rejecting him like 20 years ago and saying she’s poisoned Alicent’s mind from when they used to be friends and that’s why she keeps trying to sue for peace, get over yourself mate. Otto comes in to break up their plotting session and try to get Aemond back under his thumb by criticising Aegon and praising Aemond (Otto Hightower parenting 101).

Poor Jace arrives back to Dragonstone as the dutiful heir to report he’s won the loyalty and swords of the Vale and the North for his queen but Rhaenyra lets him break down and just be her son as they cry for Luke. They hold a memorial for Luke since there is no body to burn and Jace holds young Joffrey as the put keepsakes into the flames. While in Kingslanding Alicent is at the sept lighting candles for her dead husband, her murdered handmaiden and Prince Lucerys.

Daemon has snuck into the city under cover of darkness to recruit Blood and Cheese on Mysaria’s recommendation. They’re to sneak into the castle and kill Prince Aemond “he has silver hair and one eye. Shouldn’t be hard to find.” I was a bit disappointed with these two, they were more like Pinkie and the Brain (minus the brains) than two cunning killers. They sneak into the castle past a drunken Aegon and his entourage of lickspittles trying to come up with an epithet for him. The ratcatcher doesn’t actually know where he’s going since he doesn’t usually go up to the royal apartments but they happen upon Helaena putting the twins to bed. Blood seems hesitant about killing a child but not for long, Helaena tries to bargain with them but it’s “a son for a son.” So she points to the sleeping Jahaerys who wakes up as they start hacking his head off so she grabs her daughter and runs to her mother’s room, who happens to be in the middle of riding the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. As they cover themselves up Alicent asks what happened and Helaena says “they killed the boy.”

Strong start to the season, they’ve hit the ground running and it’s only gonna pick up from here. I thought the Blood and Cheese part was gonna be worse than it was, that was kind of meh but the aftermath will probably be greater. I wonder how Criston is gonna be excused for the kings heir being killed under his command of the kingsguard. Like why were there no guards at all patrolling that part of the castle?

Otto is gonna get the boot as Hand very soon by the looks of things and Aegon is gonna make some blunders in his pursuit of vengeance. Helaena seems to have the tragedy of Cassandra of Troy in that she can see all the doom that’s about to befall her family but be unable to do anything about it, she said at the start of the episode that she was afraid of the rats. She knew this was coming.

Its #AudioDramaSunday once again and I'm back with an actual round up of listens for the week! Starting off with @innbetween which I got caught up on this week! I love that The Lowlifes got so caught up in the spirit of love that they (minus Rukes) were ready to host a wedding. Absolutely iconic of them, they all lost the brain cell in that moment. I also got through the early access for the next episode and it was very very fun

New @tellnotalespod made me feel every emotion under the sun. Parts of it were very lighthearted and fun! Car rides! Secret plans! Frank is queer! And then parts of it had me close to tears at my desk. Leanne really put me through the wringer this week and I love them for it <3

Public release of @souloperatorpod ep 4 was this week and it was so fucking good. The more that is revealed about this town and the people living there, the less I feel like I understand (positive) it's absolutely incredible. Also the editing on this was one phenomenal 10/10

Step by Step got me thinking about the types of companies that get used as the settings for Office Romance in QL, and then by extension, what kinds of work characters do. I've only included ones where the job or the workplace is somehow part of the story or is a setting (so jobs the characters had as background info don't count). DRAGON RIDER DR.

I would like to preface this by saying that this dr is mostly custom. There isn’t really a “source” like you have with Harry Potter and the MCU, but it is heavily inspired by the Eragon books! This dr is a modern dragon rider dr, an urban fantasy dr, and a better cr all in one, but I just call it my dragon rider dr to make things easier for everyone hshfgfdgbdf

SO! Basically, the world is a lot like this one (minus the -isms and -phobias, obviously), but everyone receives a dragon. A person receives a dragon through a process called the Choosing. Their Choosing happens at the solstice or equinox immediately after their sixteenth birthday, whichever comes first. (Meaning that it’s an event that happens four times a year, if that makes sense.) The sixteen-year-old is brought to their country’s Hatchery, the facility that holds all unhatched dragon eggs for that nation. The Hatchery workers, called Keepers, guide the teenagers through the various rooms of dragon eggs to help them find the egg that will hatch for them. A dragon only hatches when it senses the presence of its rider. It will hatch for one person and one alone, and will wait centuries if it has to.

Once the sixteen-year-old is chosen, the egg will hatch, and a permanent bond will form between the hatchling and the human. As part of the bond, the pair have a telepathic connection (see what I mean about the Eragon influences? 😂😂😂) and the dragon learns how to communicate using the language of its rider (even if only via a telepathic connection). A downside to this bond, however, is that if either half of a bonded pair dies, so does the other. This is commonly seen as a blessing; to many, the idea of having to live without their rider/dragon would be a form of torture.

As for the dragons themselves, they come in countless varieties and endless color combinations. Some have four legs and two wings, some have two legs and two wings, some four wings and four legs, some four legs and no wings, so on and so forth. And they can have any of a wide range of what I call “breath weapons,” such as fire breath, lightning breath, etc. They can range in size, too! Some only grow to the size of cats, and others can become hulking behemoths. (Most exist in the middle of that range, though— large enough to ride, but not too large) All dragons, however, are intelligent and capable of (mental) speech. They are also mirrors of their riders. If someone is being shitty to you, you might want to avoid their dragon. Just to be safe :’)

OH! Something else that I scripted is dragonscale swords! If your family has enough money for it, it is an option to give a specially-trained blacksmith some of your dragon’s naturally-shed scales so that they can make a sword using them. This sword, once finished, has a blade that perfectly matches the color of your dragon’s scales. These blades never dull or break, and they are very expensive to make. In the Olden Days, it used to be tradition for members of a great house to gift their children a dragonscale sword when they became of age. (Now, it’s mostly just used. to flex your money hsghjdfghdf) The process of making these swords is a closely-guarded secret, but they are always stunning pieces of weaponry when finished.

When I shift to this DR, I will wake up the morning of the day before I get my dragon. (Originally, I was just going to shift to that morning, but I figured I would need time to adjust hjdhgfgfhd) This means that I’m 16, aka in high school. I’m actually kind of looking forward to this, believe it or not! I had a very Not Great high school experience in my OR, but I scripted that I’m going to have the positive experience that I always wanted! :3 So that’s fun hsjkfghdfghfdh (and before anyone asks, no, I will not be dating anyone until I’m grown.) After I graduate, I’m gonna go to art school!! The plan is to double major in animation and creative writing and y’all I’m so hype for that omg!!! I’m gonna go to the school I wanted to go to in my OR but couldn’t because it was ridiculously expensive hdfghhddfj
