What I find so funny is that in receiving small glimpses of episodes I haven’t seen, I fully assumed that Kipperlilly Copperkettle was some type of dog-based humanoid? But no, that was Kristen just roasting her to FLITH upon meeting her

Pairing : Jude Bellingham x reader
Theme : Fluff
Got this idea from those tiktok videos of him playing football with a group of kids. You probably know which one I’m talking about if you stumbled across one. Haven’t proofread! Sorry for any mistakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jude was like your mom’s favourite child. She was eternally grateful for her lovely daughters but when you introduced your boyfriend to the family, you knew she had put him above you and your sisters. Your dad was a huge fan of football and he thought you were joking when you told him you were dating Dortmund player so of course when Jude first joined your family’s dinner, your dad was elated that you thought he would have forgotten about you if it wasn’t for your constant glare at him.
Since then, Jude always got invited to any family events of yours, just like how he always invited you to his family events.

Your nephew, Noah was obsessed with football. Guess it ran in the family because of how the obsession went from your dad to Noah. Different from you, who barely knew anything about it. Noah had asked you a week prior if Jude was gonna come to the housewarming party but when you asked why he was so eager to know, he said it was secret. Turned out he wanted to ask Jude to play football with him because he got a proper football ball from his birthday last month.
You were in the kitchen, taking over the duty to cut the fruits so your sister could sneaked out to the nearby store to get some more ingredients for roasted garlic hummus with her husband. You were left with Jude and the kids as your parents are yet to arrived.
You were decorating the plate with the colourful fruits when you felt a sudden impact on your side. It was Noah, who was suddenly crying and hugging on your legs. Confused, you bent down and wiped the fresh tears on his cheek as he pulled away.
“What’s wrong? Did you fell?”
“No…”
“Why did you cry?”
“Jude wouldn’t give the ball back…”
“What…?”
That was when you saw Jude walked in with Noel, Noah’s baby brother.
“Jude Victor William Bellingham! Did you seriously make my nephew cry?”
“I didn’t! He asked me to play like I was in a match.”
“You are so silly! He’s not prime Lewandowski, is he?”
He chuckled in response before leaving a peck on your lips and squatted down to be on the same level with Noah, who was now refused to look at him.
“I’m sorry, buddy. Let’s do another round, yeah? You’ll be in the same team with Noel and I can only play with one leg, how about that?”
Noah responded with an immediate “Okay!” and a wide grin as he ran to Noel to pull him outside. You could see the little one waddled trying to catch on his brother.
Jude stood back up and pulled you closer by your waist. He found you so adorable when you were still frowning at him that he wanted to just planted kisses all over your beautiful face.
“I’m sorry, princess. I swear I didn’t mean it. Anyway, I didn’t know you actually have some basic football knowledge. I thought you don’t know any other players except me. That was kinda hot, not gonna lie.” He bended down his head to kiss on your exposed shoulder blade from your off shoulder crop top, pressing his body against yours even more.
“Well, I’m actually a barca girl.”
Jude tilted your chin up as he brushed his lips against yours before nibbling softy on your bottom lips.
“Shut up, you’re my girl.”
“Jude, come on!” You heard Noah called out for him from the backyard, probably getting annoyed at how long he was taking his time.
“Coming!” He pulled away and strode across the living room to the kids, leaving you with butterflies in your stomach, even after all these years.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
September 13, 2023
“Hey! Y/N!” You hear your best friend, Yelena, call as she catches up to you in the quad.
“Hey Lena, what’s up?” We were headed to the same class; English.
“There’s a party this weekend that Stark is throwing. Are you finally going to come or are you babysitting again?” She asks as the two of you walk and you huff, rolling your eyes.
“Not this weekend Lena, the boys are going to their dads and it’s a bit more than babysitting at this point. I told you that.” Lena laughs.
“I’m messing with you. If they won’t be there this weekend you should convince this hot milf you’re banging to join us.” You punch Lena giving her a dead arm as she hisses in pain. “Fuck jeez I can’t even joke with you about it.”
“Yes because you know I actually like her Lena. It’s not just about banging the hot mom next door.” You remind her and she smiles, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“I know, so convince her so we can all meet her.” You roll your eyes.
“I doubt she’ll want to Lena. I’m sure her party days are over and done with, besides she can’t even drink.” You mention off handedly.
“Why not?”
“She’s pre-“ You stop yourself realizing you didn’t mention before that Wanda is currently pregnant and you’re banging her. Let's just add that to your list of kinks as Lena’s eyes widen. “Don’t. Lena. Fuck. Stop! Don’t look at me like that!” She has this shit eating smirk on her face.
“Look at you like what detka? Like you’re totally into older milf’s who are also pregnant and that’s why none of us could ever dream of getting you off? Did I forget anything?” You don’t dare tell Lena that she calls you Daddy when the two of you fuck.
“That’s it I’m gonna murder you and I’ll make it look like a goddamn accident Lena.” You say through gritted teeth.
“Fine, fine! I give! I won’t mention it, but if she says no at least let me meet her? I do actually care if she’s treating you right and not just using you.”
“She would never Lena...she’s incredibly sweet and kind and caring and loving and....” Lena starts making gagging noises. “Why do I even bother?” You start walking ahead of her. As she scrambles to catch back up and apologize, but, you decide to ignore her.
----------------------------------------------
“Hey Wands?” You ask as she makes dinner, the boys occupied in the living room by TV and video games.
“Yes pretty girl?” She flicks her eyes to you as she prepares vegetables for a roast she’s making.
“I got invited to a party on Friday,” Wanda nods, listening as you speak, but concentrating on the vegetables she’s cutting. “and my best friend Lena said since the boys are going to Vis’s this weekend that we should both go...I know it’s a college party and I’m sure you have no intent in partying with any of us, but my friends want to meet this mysterious woman I always talk about,” You feel your face heat up, “I told Lena you probably wouldn’t want to go, so if you don’t want to that’s fine and we can-“
“Is it important to you?” She cuts me off.
“I mean you meeting my friends is important, but it doesn’t have to be the party Lena said-“
“Then we can go to the party.” She cut you off again, but you're surprised by her answer so much that you can’t even be mad.
“You want to meet my friends?” You ask, tilting your head, eyebrows knit in confusion as Wanda stops what she’s doing, moving around the island to stand between your legs, resting her arms on your shoulders.
“Of course I do sweet girl. I want to be a part of your life. Every part of it and that includes meeting your friends even if it’s some college party and I haven’t partied since I was your age sweet girl.” She kisses you tenderly and the boys make noises at us.
“Go back to your show boys. Mommy’s busy.” Wanda gives them a look and the boys giggle. We had told them yesterday morning about us after what had happened the previous night. You laugh with the boys and eventually so does Wanda.
-----------------------------------------------
Wanda wears a green off the shoulder frilled and layered dress that falls to her mid thigh. You look her over and before she can even say anything as she looks herself over in the mirror You come up behind her, wrapping your arms just under her belly which the dress hides nicely as she decided she didn’t want your friends other than Lena you told her you had accidentally let it slip. Wanda wasn’t mad thankfully.
“You look amazing beautiful girl.” You kiss her neck, her hair is flowing in waves over her shoulders and her make-up is impeccable.
“You think so?”
“I know so. I’m looking at you and it kind of makes me wanna skip the party and just fuck you all night with my cock.” You whisper in her ear.
“Mmmm don’t threaten me with a good time.” She turns around, kissing you gently, not wanting to smudge her lipstick. You see her look over your outfit, you have decided to wear black skinny jeans, a white crop top and a cropped leather jacket that just barely falls past your tits. Your hair is down and straightened and you've got your knee high lace-up boots that have these little chains hanging off them.
“Mmmm pretty girl Mommy wants you so bad.” She bites her lip as she looks you over. You pull her chin up to meet your eyes.
“Behave yourself and you can ride Daddy’s cock until you see stars when we get home.” She simple nods and smiles. “Good girl. Grab your purse and let’s go.”
-----------------------------------------------
You hold Wanda’s hand as you get inside, music blaring people drinking and doing drugs. You're offered a joint by some girl. You think she’s in your language class or maybe networking either way you smile, taking a long drag as you feel Wanda’s hand squeeze yours, pulling your attention to her. You're reminded that you've never smoked in front of her. It’s something you tend not to do, but when it’s offered you usually take it.
You hand it back to the girl and give a quick thank you as you find your group of friends in Stark’s basement where there are pool tables that people are playing at including your friends except for Lena.
“Hey guys!” You speak cheerfully as you see the three of them playing a game of pool. Peter, MJ, and Kate all look at you and smile as you hug each of them asking Kate where Lena is, who is currently grabbing drinks and shots for all of you. You nod and introduce Wanda to them,
“Guys this is Wanda. We’ve been kind of seeing each other all summer. Well not exactly all summer, but we met at the beginning of summer when I moved in.” You start rambling and Wanda stops you by squeezing your hand.
“It’s nice to finally meet you all. I know Y/N here has told me you guys always invited her out, but she’s been turning you down because of me and I feel bad about taking up all her time, but she’s been a big help, She wraps her arms around your arm and You can feel her belly and her tits against you. You wanna melt into a puddle from the feeling as the conversation goes on without you.
“Okay who is ready for some drinks!?” Yelena calls out and Wanda snaps her head at the voice.
“Yel?” Wanda asks and Lena is looking at Wanda wide eyed.
“Oh hey Wands so you’re the one taking up my best friend's time!” Yelena walks over hugging Wanda like they’re old friends.
“Am I...am I missing something?” You ask, dumbfounded.
“Well if you had ever said her name I would have known you were dating Tasha’s best friend! Wow! This is crazy!” You punch Yelena once again giving her a dead arm. “Ah! Stop doing that! It hurts!” Yelena hissed, shaking her arm trying to get feeling back as quickly as she could.
“Tasha as in your big sister Nat? Natty? Natty bear?” Kate asks listing off literally every nickname we’ve ever given to her older sister.
“Yes! That Tasha!” You say and huff.
“Pretty girl it’s okay. Everything is fine.” Wanda reassures me as You lean your forehead against her temple,
“I need a drink...” You whimper to Wanda.
“Go have one it’s okay if you drink. Just because I can’t doesn’t mean you need to stop yourself.” You smile and pull her in for a kiss. You go over to the table that Lena put the drinks down at noticing she still brought over six shots and six beers, well bottoms up. You take one shot after the other of the vodka Lena had brought the clear liquid burning and setting your stomach a blaze then popped the top on the beer bottle, using the table to take off the top as you start drinking it, looking back as Yelena and Wanda talk the others getting involved.
You smiled though it was a turn of events. You weren't expecting your girlfriend to be getting along with all of your friends just fine and it didn’t matter that she’s ten years older than us, or that she has kids, or that she’s pregnant. She’s just Wanda right now. You move back over, feeling the buzz start from drinking and smoking, wrapping myself around Wanda from behind; kissing her neck. The other four were playing pool, talking with us in between turns and eventually we played a round of cut throat so we could all get involved.
A few hours later you were floating in the clouds. All giggling from drinking. Wanda says the goodbyes for you two and how nice it was to meet everyone, taking your keys as the two of you approach the car, “I’m driving sweetie, go get in your passenger princess spot.” Wanda teases, making you giggle.
“Jokes on you beautiful I like being passenger princess.” You tell her. “I hate driving sometimes. This is so much better.” You get comfy in your seat, closing your eyes after you've buckled in. As she starts driving you two home, she puts her hand on your thigh as you connect your phone to Bluetooth, putting on, Dove Cameron’s album Alchemical: Volume 1, skipping to the song Sand.
“I love hearing you sing pretty girl.” Wanda says squeezing your thigh, keeping her eyes on the road. You had your eyes on her the whole time you sang and she knew it.
“I’m not a great singer.”
“But you sing with your heart. So it’s beautiful.” Wanda assures me, making me smile.
-----------------------------------------------
By the time the two of you got home you were feeling better. Though you still took the water from Wanda that she grabbed from the fridge. You sat up on the counter while you drank it as Wanda grabbed something small to reheat from earlier in the week. You watched her practically dance around the kitchen, humming a tune from the music you had playing in the car. She was absolutely beautiful.
“Wands?” You call out. When she looks over at you, your arms are outstretched, hands reaching for her. She smiled walking over to you and settling between your legs. Her arms wrapped around your waist and your own wrapped around her shoulders.
“Is this what you need, sweet girl?” Wanda's voice is muffled against your chest. You give her a small ‘Mmm’ into her hair. “I love you being Daddy, but it's okay when you need to be all soft like this. I still love you like this.” You knew how needy you could be at times, especially when you'd been drinking. You kiss the top of her head and take a moment to just breathe her in and cherish the moment.
“I know. I just prefer it. I can be myself with you Wands and it's all I've ever given you.” She looks up at you with a smile, getting up on her tiptoes to kiss you.
“Good.” You smile into the kiss. You try to lick her lip, to keep going, but she stops you. “Ah. Food first then we can have our fun.” You subconsciously let out a whine in displeasure. Wanda smirks, whispering in your ear, “Behave and do as Mommy says sweet girl.” You felt your eyes roll back as your stomach flipped.
Wanda had such an effect on you, sober or not. Usually you were able to overpower her; take the situation and flip it, but it was obvious to you that she wanted to win at some point. So you listened to her, even letting her feed you. You knew it made her happy. The smile on her face was as wide as ever. You knew Wanda loved being a mom, loved taking care of those around her.
-----------------------------------------------
“F-fuck…” You moaned out as Wanda's tongue buried it's way inside of you. She'd already had you cum once, but you were even more needy than either of you had anticipated. You never let others touch you, but Wanda made you feel like you were on fire. Your hand tangled in her hair, hips rocking against her face as you moaned out, “Fuck…cumming…ahhh…” You bit your lip, feeling her tongue lap inside of you as you came down from your high.
Wanda crawled back up, after cleaNing you with her tongue. She leaned down to kiss you, tasting yourself on her lips. A moan slipped past your lips before flipping the two of you over carefully.
“My turn to make you feel good Mommy.” You leaned back down, kissing her. “I promised you my cock didn't I?” You saw Wanda's eyes light up, she'd been waiting for it. As you got up to put the strap on you looked over her body. Letting your eyes rake over her form, admiring it as you crawled up between her legs. “You are so fucking beautiful. I swear no one could even come close to you.” You told her as you slowly slid inside of her. A quiet moan slipped out as you leaned over her. “Look at Daddy while she fucks you.” Wanda's eyes locked with yours as you started your thrusts.
Slow and steady at first listening to every little noise she made because of you. Watching her body move beneath you. Everything about it was beautiful, perfect. Nothing to you was better than this. Nothing was better than what you two had built over the summer. Nothing was better than the family you've found.

Let’s TALK about episodes 9 and 10 people… (part 1)
PART 2 : HERE
(‼️SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4‼️)
.
.
.
.
.
.
If you thought episodes 7 and 8 had so much to talk about (cuz I sure did), then episodes 9 and 10 destroyed my mind.
….
I am so tired.
We begin with a small recap of what happened last episode and it’s honestly very nice and heartwarming of Ankama to remind us that Yugo will get his ass handed to him in a few minutes.
BRO LOOK AT HOW THEY’RE DRAGGING HIM ON THE DIRTY FLOOR LIKE THAT!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The level of disrespect these thirsty hoes have for him is immeasurable. Even if Yugo’s not a kid, the fact that the necromes didn’t hesitate to tie him up like that and sacrifice him like a lamb is jaw-dropping. It really makes you understand that they don’t give a shit if you’re an actual kid, they will hang you up like a roast beef for dinner.
Tumblr media
Bro’s asking as if he just got here.
Also, how do you think that fall must’ve felt like? Cuz when Toross yeets him, Yugo takes a massive fall only to get his body slammed into the pavement when he gets tied up.
Tumblr media
He gets to fall even faster because of the stasis ropes pulling him down too.
You can even hear the loud slam when he hits it. That must’ve hurt like a bitch.
Btw I love how even after all that, Adamaï and Amalia still don’t trust Qilby even when he saved them from the necrome world.
Adamaï thinks he was an idiot for not using the eliatrope Dofus and…he’s right? Cuz my guy…ur scared of ruining things if you use the dofus but what are you gonna ruin in a place WHERE THERE’S NO WAKFU????
Sometimes I can’t tell whether or not that guy’s okay in his head. Like is he blind or something? You can clearly tell that the necrome world is completely deserted and has no actual life, Amalia even CONFIRMS IT for you, Toross is literally using his dofus in his world of nothing, AND it’s also literally known as the gods’ garbage bin.
No wonder you get slapped around so much, you’re stupider than Yugo!!
I never in my life thought that I’d eventually get to see Qilby booping Amalia’s nose.
Tumblr media
And I don’t know if I should like it or if I should fear it.
Man literally booped her as if she was a kid. But then again, he IS a millennial years old so it would explain why he’d treat her like a fetus.
In a way, he really CAN see her as a kid who doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about.
But like-
I never imagined this happening???? Not even in a trillion chances 😀😀
BUT WHAT CONFUSES ME EVEN MORE IS THIS :
Tumblr media
I get that Amalia annoyed him when she said he STILL couldn’t be trusted but what do you mean by “artificial”??? I’m still confused about that.
MY QUEEN NORA AND HER GAY ASS IS BACK WITH HER SHENANIGANS GURL WE SEE U !!
Tumblr media
You can’t tell me this scene ain’t gay 😭😭
The way she grabbed her was so sudden, it made my heart jump!! And Amalia just goes with it like a damsel in distress being protected by her knight 🥰🥰 My noramalia senses detected that shit from a mile away, you ain’t getting away!!!
That torture scene tho should’ve taken longer ngl. But Okoo being the kid that they are decided “hell nah”. It’s still a shame really but at least we got what we needed.
Also, lemme just say something about this torture scene real quick.
Not only does Yugo get sucked the living out of him, but he just got BODY SLAMMED FROM AT LEAST 290 FEET on LITERAL PAVEMENT so now his back is completely obliterated, he keeps CONVULSING, TWITCHING, and GETS HIS BONES BREAKING TO GROW LONGER ONES-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s feeling all that WHILE getting sucked to death. My god. I wanted to see more of that.
The only reason why he didn’t turn out ballistic was cuz Oropo was keeping him busy in his head. He literally told him that he’ll make him fight just to not think about it.
Tumblr media
And even though Oropo does hate him (but calmed down a bit once he reunited with Yugo), he told him that even he doesn’t deserve all of this. Can you imagine the one who caused so many calamities and was ready to kill the gods because he hates you telling you that even you don’t deserve this?? It just shows how kinky this Toross guy is.

The Assistant pt 1
Masterlist is pinned as always and please leave requests!
So I was blasting Government Hooker by Lady Gaga when picking up a friend and it gave me an excellent idea for a prompt I may use on some other characters but for now im doing Konig. I wanted to do this as a single part piece but I didnt get enough time in one it and wanted to post today, so here yall go!
When KorTac hired her, it was half a joke. The higher ups watched him get a bit war crime-y. Truth be told, it was partially a joke.
Did he need an assistant? Yes, he did. He was doing more desk work and they needed him to be efficient.
Konig was definitely concerned when there was a second smaller desk in his room. He assumed they were shuffling furniture around.
What he did not expect was a sweet little lady in a pencil skirt and a clipboard to skitter in.
“I'm so sorry, sir! I would have been on time and there’s no excuse, the boys were a bit… interested in my presence.” The young woman shuffled in, placing a tote, her clipboard, and the purse down.
She quickly shuffled over, “i apologize I forgot to introduce myself,” she held out her hand and gave her name. “I'm your new assistant, here to help with any need! It’s explicitly stated in my contract,” she giggled. Seemingly not understanding the meaning of ‘everything’ by those who hired her.
“Ah.” Konig said, gingerly shaking her hand. Uninterested.
“Hey, lady! There’s a package for you! From the top!” Horangi said, holding a box, chuckling. He set it in her desk and sauntered over Konig and tapped his chest. Whispering, “you’re gonna want to watch this.”
She raised an eyebrow then carefully started to open it. A small notecard on top, “contract says everything. Nothing but the best for the Colonel,” she mumbled as she read it. Opening the pink box, that was in the cardboard one.
Her face flushed and a scream that crackled up from her chest as she dropped the box to the floor.
She quickly skittered, crossing her sweater over her body and pulling her pencil skirt to try to hide, out the door. She mumbled while passing the two men, “pardon me I'm sorry. I need to go collect myself.”
Konig walked over to her desk, peaking at the plastic box on the floor. He bent down to pick through the items.
Bottle after bottle of lube, boxes of condoms, the note, a rechargeable bullet vibrator and cock ring.
“They sent this to a lady?” Konig scoffed.
“It was actually some of the recruits. Once they heard about how explicit her contract was.” Horangi said, picking it up. “Higher ups did mention that you didn’t have a partner.”
Konig groaned, “abusing a woman for her contract is no way to handle anything.”
“Is it abusing it if it's in her contact?”
“I will not be playing this game.”
“Suit yourself, she only takes orders from you.”
“Move the box somewhere. Anywhere but here.”
“You’re barracks it is.”
Konig sighed.
When the poor girl came back her hair was in a messy bun, slowing off her neck, and her sweater was crudely crossed over her skin. Her eyes were watery, but she didn’t appear to have cried. She stood in front of where Konig sat, gently set down a cup of coffee, and bowed her head a bit.
“Let me know if there’s any way I can assist you. You have three things on the agenda today. The first is drills with you recruits, happening in approximately 30 minutes. The second being a meeting at 1300 hours with your lieutenants. And the third a phone call from the general at 1600 hours. I’m going to prepare some notes for each of things I recommend you should cover, its up to you if you wish to use them.” She said before walking over and plopping herself on her chair. She opened up a small laptop and began typing things out.
The soft noises of her keyboard filled the room like a white noise. She didn’t even give him the opportunity to respond really.
He took a sip of the coffee, before humming with amusement. It was just how he liked it. Medium roast, a splash of half & half, and a bit of splenda. He had quit using sugar a while ago, but appreciated something to cut the bitter taste. She has put possibly a packet more of splenda than he would, but he didn’t complain, it was good coffee. It also wasn’t scalding hot, it was perfectly just beyond warm.
He glanced over at her and watched a small smile appear on the lady’s face.
He looked at the mug and gawked.
It’s pattern was that of the famous Austrian art piece, The Kiss by Gustav Klimt.
He would admit, this young woman had started to impress him. Good taste in art, great taste in mugs, and an excellent understanding of something as small as how he likes his coffee.
She also happily carried all his papers to mail boxes and such, refilling his coffee, and letting officers in to talk. She reminded him of his meeting, handing him half a page of notes with a small smiley face with a ‘Go get ‘em’ on it.
He would admit, he could get used to this.
Sadly the harassment from the recruits didn’t stop on the second day. There was a metal name plate on her desk with the words ‘Colonel’s Personal Whore’ on it, which almost made her faint. Konig watched carefully as she paled, smiling through it as she went to the bathroom. Konig chuckled at the terrible sign with bitter in his voice before throwing it in the bottom drawer of his desk.
She didn’t dare ask where the sign went. Konig was going to shove it up the ass of whoever dared to do it.
The sign did make him curious about her contract, he hoped it was an exaggeration.
He learned, however, actually why she hadn’t quit on the first day when the harassment started.
She was being paid a fuck ton and the wording as just as explicit as her joke and the harassment made it seem. It was clear she hadn’t read the whole contract. It stated things like how the company would take liability for any bodily injury so long as it only came from the Colonel, how they would pay for any abortion so long as she could prove it was the Colonel’s, and other horrible things. She had effectively signed away her body under some of the wording.
Wording like this is why Konig didn’t believe women should be in the workforce. This horrible objectivization of this woman was staring him in the face and he wanted to gag. This was a woman, not a fleshlight.
Poor thing was too simple to recognize what she had signed. A simple woman, which aroused him a bit.
On the fourth and fifth days he was growing more tired of the harassment than anyone. On the sixth day he decided to make a move.
He highlighted a section of the file on his computer. The contract was like seven pages long, but he only took snips of it to print. He stapled them together and put them on your desk when you were getting the notes you had printed for a meeting. You caught him walking out the door and he pressed a mask-covered kiss to her cheek.
“Thank you, I left something I want you to read through for me on your desk.” He said before heading to the board room with the notes in hand.
Her face went pale and her cheeks flushed as she read through it, the lingo finally clicking in her head. When he came back, her head was in her palms and her fingers were tangled in her hair.

Anyone But Him-Jack Hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: This version of the story has been discontinued. I have a new version that I am working on that is slowly being published
Summary: Brooke Howe and Luke Hughes had known each other since 6th grade when his family first moved to Michigan the two were sat next to each other in homeroom and became best friends. Fast forward six years and nothing has changed Brooke and Luke are still best friends and nothing can get in the way of that except maybe starting a relationship with his brother.
It all started the summer before you and Luke went to college. Luke had invited you to his families lake house the same lake house you had been going to every summer since the two of you meet. Only this time you weren’t the only girl one of the Hughes brothers brought.
Jack had been dating Sienna for only two months. Luke told you about her and also said he wasn’t a big fan of her. He had met her twice before and apparently he had objected to Jack bringing her but he wasn’t interested.
You and Luke headed up with his parents the morning of July 1st and later on Sienna, Jack, Quinn and one of his friends joined. The majority of the day was spent relaxing and reacquainting with everyone.
The next day you had spent the day out on the lake like usual you watched as Jack and Luke argued over who gets to drive the boat. Jack ending the argument with a simple I’m older so I get to do it before taking the wheel from Quinn and proceeding to play captain the rest of the day.
You giggled as Luke pouted.
“It’s not funny he always does this he never lets me drive!” Luke complains
“I’m sorry dude maybe next summer” You say
“Fat Chance!” Jack shouted
Luke groans annoyed and you laughed again.
After spending around four hours out on the lake wakesurfing and swimming the crew finally decided to head home and you went upstairs to shower then change into some comfier clothes before returning back downstairs.
The Hughes father Jim was cooking burgers with the ‘help’ of his sons when you spotted Sienna on the couch
“Hi!” You say taking a seat
“Hi?” Sienna responds in a dull tone while scrolling through instagram.
“I’m Brooke I’m Luke’s best friend it’s so nice to meet you and it’s great to have another girl here” You say with a laugh
“So what are you Luke’s girlfriend?” She asks
You let out a slight laugh she’s not the first one to assume that.
“No we’re just good friends” you say
“Ok sure” Sienna says
———————————————————————
After dinner the whole crew stayed outside to roast marshmallows and sit by the fire.
You took a seat next to Sienna and watched as Jack and Luke argue over something stupid
“So where did you meet Jack?” You ask Sienna
“At a bar” she says vaguely
“That sounds nice” You say
“Where are you from?” You ask
Sienna rolls her eyes
“Geez sorry I’m just trying to be friendly” You say
“You know I’m still trying to figure out the reason Luke keeps you around I mean you’re not pretty enough and you act like a child” Sienna says
All of the sudden you feel your eyes start to water. You use your sleeve to wipe the tears and stand up.
“Cookie you ok?” Quinn asks using a childhood nickname everyone in the Hughes household adopted for you
“Ya I’m ok I’m kinda tired I’m gonna turn in. Goodnight guys” You say and walk inside
“Brooke wait up”
You turn around half way up the stairs and see Luke
“Luke I’m ok I’m just tired” you reassure him
“No your not I saw you you were talking with Sienna and then you got sad what did she say?” Luke asks
“Luke it’s not important I’m just being sensitive” You say
“Brooke come on tell me!” Luke says you sigh
You look up at Luke and can see a mixture of anger and concern in his eyes
You take a deep breath before explaining what happened.
Luke gets mad and grabs your hand marching back to the dock.
“Hey what’s up?” Jack says once he notices you and Luke had returned
“What’s up is your girlfriend’s a bitch” Luke says
Everyone’s eyes goes wide and Sienna shots a glare towards me.
“Excuse me” Jack says stepping closer to Luke
The tension in the air keeps building until Quinn steps in.
“Alright alright guys calm down” Quinn says putting himself in between Jack and Luke
“Luke why don’t you tell us what happened” Quinn says
“No it doesn’t matter she needs to leave” Luke says pointing to Sienna
“Now” Luke adds
Sienna stands up
“She’s not going anywhere” Jack says
“Yes she is go pack your shit and get out” Luke says to Sienna
“Luke just stop” you say trying to grab his arm
“No tell her to pack her shit and get out” Luke says one last time before turning around and walking inside with you.
———————————————————————
You and Luke spend the next three hours laying on his bed under a million blankets watching old Disney movies until he falls asleep.
You slowly get up and tiptoe into the hallway.
“Hey” you hear
Startled you jump a little before turning around and seeing Jack
“Oh Jesus Jack you scared me” you say
“Sorry how you doing?” He asks
“I’m ok and Jack I’m so sorry about earlier” you say
“I talked to Sienna she told me the truth about what she said” Jack says
“Oh…” you say sadly
“We broke up and she left” Jack adds
“Oh I’m sorry Jack” You say
“Do you wanna talk?” You offer
“Sure” He says you smile at him and the two of you walk downstairs.
You take a seat on the large couch
“I’m gonna get a drink do you want one?” Jack offers
“What like alcohol?” You question Jack let’s out a laugh
“Ya cookie I’m offering you alcohol how about I just look for a juice box” Jack jokes
He returns with two water bottles
“Thanks” you say unscrewing the bottle cap and taking a sip
———————————————————————
Jack brings up a story about how you and Luke use to run round the house pretending to be cops and would arrest everyone.
The two of you continue talking about different memories and you enjoy the constant smile on Jacks face.
Around midnight the two of you make your way outside to look up at the stars
“Are you ok about Sienna?” You ask
“Ya I’m ok it sucks but I mean it’s whatever” Jack says
“Jack I’m sorry” You say looking at him
“You know sometimes it’s just hard most girls just look at me like I’m a fuck and I don’t know Sienna was just the first real girlfriend I’ve had in a long time” Jack explains
“Jack you’re a great person any girl would be lucky to date you trust me any girl would be over the moon to find such a great guy like you they’re pretty rare” You say resting your hand on his arm
“And what about you?” Jack says looking in your eyes
“What about me?” You ask
“Would you be over the moon to date me?” Jack asks
You let out a small chuckle
“I’m serious” Jack says
“I don’t think Lukey would be ok with that” you say
“I don’t really care what Luke thinks” Jack says taking a step closer to you before you know what’s happening Jacks lips connect with yours and all of the sudden your standing in the familiar spot in an unfamiliar situation kissing your best friends older brother.
A/N hope you enjoy! Feel free to send in requests or suggestions!

A Walk Through the Woods
Title: A Walk Through the Woods
Pairing: Steve Rogers x reader
Summary: Your family goes on a fall vacation every year up to the family cabin. This year though, your parents invite a family friend.
Tumblr media
Bingo Selections: Hiking in the woods, family friend, & secret relationship
A/N: This is my second bingo entry for the bingo event hosted by @the-slumberparty! My bingo selections are listed above and I hope you enjoy the story that I’ve written! Also, nothing is beta read, all mistakes are my own, I do not claim to be a professional writer. Also the gold glitter divider was by @firefly-graphics.
Warnings: 18+, minors DNI! Things to look out for would be: slow burn; fluff; angst; there is a bit of age gap (reader is 25 & Steve is in his mid-thirties); secret relationship; and I think that is everything you should look for in this little piece. I’m also gonna add Steve Rogers as a warning, because he is one. I apologize if I missed anything but you are responsible for what you read.
Wordcount: 3,422
You had just walked into the house and you could smell the delicious food your mom was cooking. You took in a deep breath and let out a sigh of content before you went to greet her. As you walked towards the kitchen, your stomach started to growl.
“Hey mom, what is all of this?” You paused to look around and noticed the ingredients. “Is Steve coming for dinner?”
“What makes you ask that sweetheart?” Your mom asked as she continued to cook.
You glanced around once more as you spoke. “Well, we have potatoes and carrots and I can only assume that that’s a roast you’re prepping. All of this points to Steve’s favorite meal.”
Your mom chuckled in response. “Oh sweetheart, the way you keep track of what Steve likes and doesn’t like, makes me think someone has a crush.”
It was more than a crush though. She just didn’t know it yet.
“What, no. I mean, he’s been a family friend for years and I just picked up on a few things.” You tried to reason with your mother and do your best to act nonchalantly about the accusation.
But truthfully, you wanted to tell her that you and Steve had been seeing each other for a few weeks now. However, something was telling you not to, so you kept your mouth shut.
“Hmm, hmm. Well, dinner will be ready in a few hours and your father and Steve should be back here soon. So, go freshen up for dinner.” Your mother spoke up, pulling you from your thoughts.
“Yeah, right. Don’t wanna smell like chlorine the rest of the night.”
You then went upstairs to freshen up before dinner, making sure to rid yourself of any chlorine smell. You loved your job at the community center and loved working with the kids at the pool, but you hated the fact that by the end of the day, you were wreaking of chlorine. One day, Steve came to visit you during your lunch hour and you couldn’t help but feel a bit self-conscious about how you smelled. He was sweet about it though and told you that it didn’t matter to him because he thought that your work was amazing. As you stood there looking at the two outfits you had picked out, the sound of Steve’s voice coming from downstairs quickly made you decide and you blindly grabbed an outfit. You quickly blow dried your hair a little bit, just enough so that it wasn’t still soaking wet and spritzed on Steve’s favorite scent. You double checked your outfit before tossing on a cardigan and headed downstairs. When you got to the bottom of the stairs, you took a deep breath to calm yourself before heading to the kitchen. You couldn’t help but smile though when you saw Steve leaning against the counter top.
“Ah! There’s my darling daughter!” Your father greeted you with a huge smile.
“Hey dad.” You greeted him back before you walked over and gave him a hug.
“Look who’s here! Steve the great!” Your father pointed out the obvious.
Little did your father know, you had already checked Steve out and undressed him with your eyes when you walked into the kitchen. But your father didn’t need to know that. A laugh slipped out as you watched Steve roll his eyes.
“I wish you wouldn’t call me that.” Steve grumbled, but his demeanor quickly changed as he turned his attention towards you. “What, I don’t get a hug or anything, Sunflower?”
Ah, there it is. The cute nickname Steve had bestowed upon you shortly before the two of you started dating. You could feel your cheeks starting to heat up at him calling you that. Thankfully, your father had turned his attention to your mother who was still cooking. You took this opportunity to hug Steve a little longer than usual.
“I missed you today.” You mumbled into his chest but you know that he heard you.
His chest rumbled slightly as he spoke quietly. “I missed you too, Sunflower.”
You didn’t want this small moment to end but you knew it had too, especially when your father spoke up again.
“So, Steve, how about a couple of cigars out in the garage?”
You were already by the fridge and pulling a soda out when your father had turned around. The sound of disapproval from your mother caused you to snicker a little bit. You glanced over Steve as you opened your can of soda and took a drink from it, giving him a small wink in the process.
“Maybe a beer instead?” Steve suggested as he turned his attention back to your father.
Tumblr media
When dinner was done and everyone was sitting at the dinner table, your father said grace before you started eating. Dinner was filled with various topics of conversation; from an upcoming business trip your father was going on, to the progress of Steve’s house that he’d been remodeling and lastly to the fall family trip.
“So, Steve, what are you doing next weekend?” Your father inquired as he took a bite of food.
You watched as Steve wiped his mouth before he answered. “Well, I was gonna try and get some work done on the house. Why, what’s up?”
“Well, next weekend is when we normally take our fall family trip and we’d like you to come! You can even bring someone if you’d like.” Your father said as he finished chewing his food.
You couldn’t help but choke on the water you had just drank at the offer your father made. A coughing fit ensued as the water went down wrong.
“Oh my god, honey, are you okay?” Your mother inquired as she reached over and gently placed a hand on your arm.
“Sunflower, you alright?” Steve asked and you could see the concern in his eyes.
Once you recovered from your coughing fit, you were finally able to speak up. “Y-yeah, sorry, just went down the wrong tube I guess.”
You gave everyone a reassuring smile and hoped that Steve would decline the offer about bringing someone next weekend. It was like Steve could sense what you were thinking because his words instantly calmed you.
“I probably won’t bring anyone but I would love to come.” Steve then gave you the quickest wink and if you had not been paying attention, you probably would’ve missed it.
“Perfect! It’s really just a perfect place to unwind and escape all of the hectic day-to-day stuff. You’ll love it.” Your father then carried on and on about the cabin and how he came to own it.
You let out a small huff, having heard the story a million times and you’re pretty sure Steve has too. You made sure neither of your parents were paying attention to you before you mouthed an ‘I’m sorry’ to Steve.
As the evening came to an end, your parents were already upstairs getting ready for bed. You didn’t mind though because it gave you a moment alone with Steve as you greeted each other good night. He had his hands on your waist as you rubbed his chest. You both kept your voices low as you talked.
“You know, I’m looking forward to next weekend, Sunflower.” Steve pressed a quick peck to your forehead.
You closed your eyes as he did so, enjoying the feeling of his lips on your skin. “I’ll have to show you all of my favorite spots.”
You looked up at Steve right as he was staring down at you, butterflies instantly formed in your stomach with the way he was looking at you.
“I look forward to it, Sunflower.” Steve then pressed his lips to your cheek before he leaned down and whispered in your ear. “Another thing before I leave, you’re the only person that I have eyes for.”
Before you could reply, his lips were on your and you instantly reciprocated. However, the kiss was over way too soon and a pout formed on your face as Steve stood up straight. A chuckle came from Steve as he saw the look on your face.
“Don’t give me that face, Sunflower. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of chances to be alone next weekend. Who knows, maybe we can go on a hike through the woods.” Steve suggested as a mischievous smile formed on his perfect lips.
Oh, you knew right then and there that he had something planned up his sleeve.
“Hmm, I think I might be able to get behind that idea.” Your smirk matched his, two could play this game.
“Good.” Steve then leaned down and gave you another kiss. “I should probably get going, my sweet Sunflower.”
“I wish you didn’t have to.” You knew you were whining but you didn’t care.
“I know. I promise one day we’ll both be coming home to each other.” Steve knew exactly what to say to make you swoon for him.
“I’m gonna hold you to that.” You smiled up at him before you gave him another kiss.
Tumblr media
The week flew by with constant texting and a few phone calls between you and Steve. You even managed to sneak in a few secret dates before the cabin trip. Friday morning rolled around and as you were handing your suitcase to your father, Steve pulled up in front of the house in his truck. You tried to suppress the smile that was trying to work its way onto your lips but failed miserably. Especially when Steve walked up the drive and stood next to you. His cologne wafted up your nostrils, his usual scent of sandalwood, oak moss, and with a very subtle hint of orange citrus.
“Steve the Great is here!” Your father exclaimed with a huge smile.
“Need any help with anything?” Steve offered as your father put your suitcase in the back of the SUV.
“Nah, we’re almost done. The missus is finishing up inside and then we’ll be on the road!” Your father informed as he turned to face you and Steve.
“Sounds good. How far is the cabin?” Steve asked as he glanced between you and your father.
“About four hours.” You said, finally finding your words. It was crazy how Steve still made you speechless sometimes.
Steve nodded his head and just then your mother walked out of the house with the rest of the camping necessities. You watched as she handed everything to your father, she then greeted Steve with a hug. As you watched the interaction, a small smile curled up onto your lips. You only hoped that your parents still liked Steve whenever the two of you decided to tell them about your relationship. You could only hope.
“So, Steve, you gonna follow us then?” Your father inquired as he closed the hatch door.
“Yeah, sounds good.” Steve nodded before he started to head back towards his truck.
“Hey, is it alright if I ride with Steve? I can give him directions if we get separated.” You hoped you didn’t sound too eager.
Your parents shared a look before your father spoke up. “Yeah, I don’t see why not, you know your way to the cabin pretty well. Heck, I think you know it better than I do.”
You and your mother exchanged a brief hug before you picked up your small backpack and headed towards the truck with Steve. Like the gentleman he was, Steve opened the passenger door for you and you climbed into the truck. You waited for Steve as he walked around the front of his truck and got in on the driver side. You watched as he started up the truck and waited for your parents to lead the way.
“That was very clever, Sunflower.” Steve said with a smirk before he reached a hand over and placed it on your knee.
You couldn’t help but smile. “Well, I had to do something to get us some kind of alone time.”
The drive to the cabin is filled with talking, mainly you telling Steve what to expect. He would assure you that it all sounded good to him and that he was just happy to spend time with you. The drive also consisted of you showing Steve some of your favorite music and when he didn’t like a certain song, he would scrunch up his nose and shake his head. Whenever he did that, it caused you to laugh for a little bit before you would change the song. The drive was also filled with a few stolen kisses, especially if there was a couple of cars in between Steve’s truck and your parents car. You loved every minute of the time that you and Steve had in his truck.
When you finally got to the cabin, it felt good to get out and stretch your legs. With everyone helping to get everything unloaded, it didn’t take long before your father and Steve were firing up the grill to cook some brats and veggies. You were helping your mother in the kitchen and you thought how perfect this all was, which caused you to smile. You thought that maybe if this weekend went well, you and Steve could discuss coming clean to your parents. You honestly weren’t sure how they were going to react. Sure, they liked Steve now but all of that could change when you decided to tell them. They definitely would not like the fact that Steve is in his mid-thirties and you had just turned twenty-five. You let out a small sigh as you hoped everything would work out in the end. You’re pulled out of your thoughts when your mother speaks up.
“Honey, you alright?”
You glanced over at her as she was making a potato salad. “Yeah, just tired I suppose.”
“Well, why don’t you take your things up to your room and unpack, relax a little bit. I can call you when dinner is about ready.”
“Yeah, sure. I guess I can do that.” You answered, giving her a small smile.
You didn’t need any more than that before you were collecting your things to take upstairs. As you unpacked, you could hear your father and Steve talking outside about something. You stopped what you were doing and went over to the window, glancing down at the patio below. You gave up when you couldn’t exactly hear what they were saying and you didn’t want to get caught by opening the window. Your curiosity was eating at you though, maybe Steve will tell you later.
The first night at the cabin is usually pretty relaxing, filled with a good meal and boardgames, then your parents retire early. This trip was no different. So, when your parents went to bed, you and Steve stayed up for a little bit longer. The second day is usually filled with a long hike through the woods but when your mother got sick, your father encouraged both you and Steve to still go on the hike. So, you gladly agreed and grabbed the small picnic basket that you had put together.
“Make sure to show Steve all of the best spots!” Your father suggested as he prepared a small tray to take up to your mother.
“Of course! I wouldn’t dream otherwise.” You then turned to Steve, a smile plastered across your face. “Steve, are you ready?”
“Ready when you are, Sunflower.” Steve smiled back at you and he gave you a quick wink.
You took Steve on one of your favorite trails, hoping he would like it just as much. As soon as you were out of eyesight of the cabin, Steve wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you close to him. A feeling of content washed over you as you and Steve continued your walk through the woods. You were glad that the weather was perfect so that you could enjoy it even more. Every so often, you and Steve would stop and you would find yourself pressed against the trunk of a tree as the two of you kissed. You loved every minute that his lips were on yours and craved for more each time the two of you would stop. After a while, you checked your watch and saw that it was nearly twelve-thirty. You stopped to search for a nice spot to have a picnic and eat.
“Everything alright, Sunflower?” Steve asked as he watched you.
“Well, I don’t know about you but all of this hiking has given me quite the appetite. I was just looking for a good spot to set up this picnic.” You answered before spotting the perfect spot.
The two of you sat and ate the food that you had prepared, you and Steve were sprawled out on the blanket that you had somehow managed to fit into the basket. You loved that even though you had known Steve for quite a few years, that you were still able to learn new things about him and vice versa. The two of you sat and talked for a while but you didn’t care, you were with Steve. Once you were finished eating, you and Steve decided to keep walking for a little bit more. You made sure to point out and show him some of your favorite spots. The final spot you decided to show Steve was a spot that overlooked a lake. To you, you thought it was peaceful and came here quite often when you came to the cabin.
You glanced over at Steve as he took in a deep breath and then exhaled it. He looked just as peaceful as the scene in front of you.
“I can see why you come here a lot, this spot is perfect.” Steve said before he turned his attention to you. A smile spread across his face. “But nothing is as beautiful as you Sunflower.”
The next thing you knew, Steve was pulling you towards him with his hands on your waist. A small gasp escaped you as he did this and you could feel the butterflies starting to form. You found yourself wrapping your arms around Steve’s neck as he leaned down. Your fingers curled into the hair at the nape of his neck as your faces became close and were mere inches apart, you could feel your heart racing. Sure, you and Steve had kissed before but something felt different about this one. You were at one of your favorite spots with someone you cared so much about, Steve Rogers. You felt like if you kissed him right now that your fate would be sealed. So, without a second thought, you met Steve the rest of the way and pressed your lips against his. It felt like all time had stopped as the two of you remained in a passionate kiss, like nothing else mattered.
When the two of you decided to pull apart, your eyes remained closed as you took a moment to remember every little detail. Steve couldn’t help but smile as he looked down at you, he too felt the same things. All of the sudden, his hand had a mind of its own and it was reaching up to caress your cheek. You found yourself leaning into his touch and that’s when you decided to open your eyes. The two of you gazed into each other’s eyes and you felt your cheeks starting to heat up with how Steve was looking at you.
“Do you think we should head back, Sunflower?” Steve asked as he continued to caress your cheek.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. It is kinda late and we have quite the hike back.” You didn’t want to agree but you had a feeling that if you were out too much longer that your parents might start to get suspicious. And you couldn’t have that now.
On the way back to the cabin, you and Steve held hands and talked about making a few plans while here at the cabin. When you got closer to the cabin, the two of you separated and you unwillingly let go of his hand. As you walked up the cabin steps, you thought about how this has been your favorite cabin trip by far. Not just that but now you had a favorite hiking memory and it was all thanks to Steve. You couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for the two of you as you walked inside of the cabin with Steve following in behind you.

Likes her, maybe he doesn’t.
Warnings: Violence of the cannon typical variety, death of a child, tears, but some fun stuff too.
A/N: man… I’m obsessed with this show bro.

Tumblr media
Joel and Ellie picked you up in the middle of nowhere, riding solo in a ford F-150 without a care in the world. At first? They didn’t trust you, but after saving their asses, and shooting a clicker in the head to save Joel it made them a bit more amiable to the company.
You were a strange ray of unwavering sunshine. Nothing seemed to kill your vibe, and when Ellie told you they had guns and food? Well shit, nothing could have been more appealing. You liked traveling with them, you liked their bickering, their reluctant ‘Lone Wolf and Cub shtick. It was refreshing. It filled a void you hadn’t known you needed refilled. By way of the weeks you spent with them you learned that yeah, Joel had a soft side. He was soft for Ellie. Puns and gun safety seeming to be the way he expressed it. He just didn’t have softness for you, and while you would like softness, it wasn’t necessary, so you let Joel be.
Joel was about as welcoming as shit in a cake. He was abrasive to say the very least, and every move you made seemed to be the wrong move. It was more than likely because he didn’t trust you around the kid, which you understood. So you made nice with Ellie, which only succeeded in possibly pissing him off more somehow, but you didn’t care. If you weren’t gonna make two friends, you’d at least make one.
“So, you know our names, but you never told me yours!” Ellie said one day, happily munching on more canned ravioli while you munched walnuts you had stripped from a tree and roasted. Tossing one at Joel every once in a while to piss him off a bit, and to subtly share. You noticed he had eaten every one that had landed in his lap, so you kept doing it, cherishing the giggles it provoked from Ellie.
“Well darling little Ellie my name is- get this- Ellie.” You gasped very dramatically and nailed Joel in the forehead with a walnut.
“No… fuck you. No way.” Ellie chuckled.
“Yeah, it really is, it’s short for something.” You shrug, eating one more walnut and dropping them in Joel’s lap to go refill your canteen in the nearby stream.
“Well? What’s it short for?” Ellie scrambles after you to the lake, and you shake your head with a laugh.
“Oh no, you’re not getting that outta me.” You giggle again, and Ellie groans, flopping to the ground. “In the mean time, my name is El and you are Ellie.” You bop her on the nose with a finger and she snaps at you playfully. “Oh no zombie lips! You biting me may have unintended consequences.” You shove her face and she falls in the river and you laugh harder.
“Quit making a racket, you’ll draw attention to us.” Joel muttered from over near the truck. You rolled your eyes and helped the kid out of the creek.
“Alright you big dick, we’ll play quiet.” You smile at Ellie with a wink, and from behind you Joel rolls his eyes.
Everyday you seemed a little further from cracking Joel’s shell. He was like a brick wall. Tall, tough, and impenetrable without a way in. So you looked for a way in. From then on you cracked jokes with the kid, shared all your supplies, you share drive time. You do your best to reach him behind that terrible wall you saw him hiding behind, but he was an impenetrable fortress. You knew why too. Ellie told you, something about a little girl named Sarah, a woman named Tess. He had lost everyone. You knew the feeling.
“So, what about you inferior Ellie? You got a family?” Ellie asked one day, Joel was supposedly ‘resting his eyes’ but the snores told you he was sleeping. You were driving closer towards Wyoming, or wherever you were headed, and the girl was making small talk. This question though, shit, this one was almost too personal. You decided to answer it anyway.
“Uh, yeah. I had a family.” You nodded. “They were… everything. My husband and I were High school sweethearts. Me and Mikey? Oh man. We won prom king and queen and everything. Then boom, outbreak, what a way to end Freshman year of college huh? We made it though, we were doing ok on our own in a cabin in the mountains. Then we’ll, then I find out, I’m pregnant in the middle of the apocalypse. Terrrrrrrible timing for one of our condoms to be faulty, but things happen.” You shrug, taking a drink from the water bottle you had mixed with a coveted pack of powdered lemonade. “So we do our best, no plan B’s no doctors, my decision might have been different had I had those, but probably not. We decide to keep the baby, but that we’re not equipped enough for that, so we go for a QZ. In the meantime? We imagine our baby as a little girl who looked like Mikey, and we make our way to the QZ. We were almost there, making good time, picking out names, it was fine. Then, we’re attacked by a clicker in an abandoned building. To attempt to save my life, Mikey shoved me back and into a splintered shelf, it was an accident. I’m skewered through, losing a lot of blood, and most likely the baby right then and there. Mikey, uh. Mikey killed the clicker, then he marched us the last two miles to the QZ. they check me, I’m good, they check Mikey and… he’d been bitten.
They shot him directly in front of me. I, uh. I got patched up, and two days later I was certain my baby was gone.”
“Oh. Wow I-“ Ellie started and you shushed her with a smile.
“It’s ok kid. I’ve made peace with it for the most part. I told you cause- if it was a girl? I guess- I guess I imagined her to be a bit like you.” You pulled over and swiped a tear while she wasn’t looking. “I gotta take a piss. Too much of a good thing and all that.” You shook your bottle at Ellie and left the truck.
You were tracking towards the woods and Ellie stared in shock. Once he was sure you were gone, Joel’s eyes opened. He looked in the back towards Ellie, who seemed stunned. “Is she gonna be okay?” Ellie blurted, staring at your back as you walked away.
“I… I don’t know. I’ll go check. You go and scope the gas station for snacks. Maybe you can find something good.” He groans and trudges towards the woods. When he finds you, you’re staring the water blankly, there were tears streaming down your face, and you were rubbing at your side, at a scar he’s never seen and he can imagine what it was. He walks up to you and you swipe at your tears rapidly and go to stand.
“I-I’m sorry I woke you. Just needed a break. Figured we would grab some gas and keep going from the-“ you were cut off by him pulling you into a tight hug, and then you sobbed. You were there for a while, just letting Joel hold you. This hadn’t happened in a while, one of these fits. He held you the whole time though, telling you you’d be ok. Stroking your hair and holding you until the sobbing slowed and you were just sitting there in Joel’s lap. “‘M sorry.” You sigh, half exhausted.
“Don’t-“ Joel sighed. “Don’t worry about it. I get it. I get it.” He helped you to your feet and wet the end of his shirt in the stream, wiped your cheeks and led you back to the van. When you saw Ellie, Joel noticed you visibly brighten, you smiled and waved. Joel was once again completely astounded by your resilience.
“Well Ellie Belly? Find anything good?” You grinned ruffling the kids hair as you helped her put her new finds in the truck, including a highly celebrated over box of tampons. He didn’t get it but it made you both happy so he let you celebrate. Then you loaded up and started driving. To Joel’s surprise? You were good again, sunshine and rainbows, as if you really hadn’t just had a mental break in the woods, he thought it was for the kids be if it but you really were ok, but the most shocking of all was the hand that lay on his thigh. It rested there without fail, and he wasn’t sure anymore if he ever wanted you to move it again. You’d been on the road for a while, comfortably listening to Hank Williams for about the 100th time, when Ellie spoke up.
“Oh wait! I found another tape!” She scrambled at her backpack and pulled out a tape and handed it to you with a grin.
“Oh Ellie, my brilliant sweet summer child. You have found a masterpiece.” You kissed the tape she handed you and popped it directly into the tape deck.
“What is that shit?” Joel muttered, turning up the volume a bit.
“Oh baby, Joel it’s the Oakridge boys.” You laughed and suddenly he was subjected to what he considered the greatest concert he could have hoped for in the apocalypse. You knew every word, and it made him grin despite himself. Leaving Louisiana, Trying to Love Two Women, Bobby Sue, Y’all Come Back Now Saloon, all of it.
“Fucking shit, if I had known you were gonna be this annoying I never would have brought it back.” She was trying to huff, but the barely suppressed giggled were not selling it for him.
“Oh my dear girl, but it’s time for the best song of all, and I think I’ll finally tell you my name.” You laughed manically, then the song started playing and Joel cackled. Ellie looked stunned
“Oh shit you broke him.” Ellie laughed and then you started singing.
“Ellie? It’s nice to meet you, my name is Elvira.
Eyes that look like heaven
Lips like cherry wine
That girl can sho nuff make my little light shine
I get a funny feelin’
Up and down my spine
Because I know that my Elvira is mine!” He grins at your joy and starts mumbling under his breath.
“Elvira! Elvira! My heart is on fire, for Elvira!
Giddy up! Ooom poppa ooom papa mow mow
Giddy up! Oom poppa ooom papa mow mow!
Hiiiigh ho silver! Away!”
It went on like this until you and Ellie passed out. Joel sat for a bit after, watching you both breathe. The peace of it filled him with glee, made him smile. He kept driving, and enjoyed the calm that accompanied knowing everyone you care about is safe, then he thought to himself. ‘Hey, maybe this found family thing ain’t half bad.’

Masterlist / prev / Epilogue
!!written chapter!!
Tumblr media
Your legs hurt as it was now 9 pm, most students have already headed home even the ones with clubs but here you were still searching. It was a 6ft plush-loving man you were looking for how hard could it be?
Apparently really hard seeing it’s already been 4 hours since you’ve started. After checking the math building you began walking around the school. I mean you can wait until tomorrow but what if by tomorrow he decided he’s completely done with you, especially after seeing you run away at the park?
No matter what it took you’ll find Hyuka is what you thought at the 3rd hour. Now tired, you decided if the universe wanted you two together you’ll find him and if not, the universe is mean. It was late, your eyes were swollen from crying so much that people looked at you confused on why the school’s IT girl was limping around the school.
It was time to go home.
The air was cold, and with your phone now dead you couldn’t call anyone to pick you up.
You found yourself on a familiar path of trees with the infamous fountain that held A LOT of broken hearts. Kai had told to you that he liked you, wondering if he had confessed to you near that fountain would’ve you rejected him or not?
You broke a lot of hearts and Kai’s was just another on your shelf. And that broke yours
‘Please universe help me, I know I’m a shitty person but if you give me a chance.
I’ll love him!’ you thought feeling the pain in the soles of your foot worsen
The winds blew causing your hair to go in your face. You groan moving it when you spot a familiar teal skateboard hiding behind a tree with a brown bag beside it.
Your heart jumped, it was the tree that you hid in the first time you met Kai.
You wobble over looking around but you didn’t spot him. Placing your hand on the large tree, feeling him near. A green leaf falls right in front of you.
You look up.
There he was,
on the branch laying on his back. He hummed a tune while he messed with the leaves. This was your chance, no running
“Hiding from someone?”
Kai looked down spotting you. Shocking him, he lets out a quick scream as he sat up nearly falling. “Woah!” You yelled scared for him.
“I’m guessing it’s me” Giving him a small smile, he looks away clearing his throat “What do you want?” His coldness made your heartache.
You stared at the large wall, it was so thick you didn’t know how you were gonna do it.
“I uh…” you couldn’t speak “If it’s nothing, can you leave me alone?” he said laying back down
So cold, your hands shook when you touch the wall
“i- I’ve been looking for you” nothing
His light was off and you did that to him.
“Kai I’m sorry!” You shouted feeling your eyes well up. He turned his head to look at you
Crack
“I don’t know how many times I’ve called myself an idiot today, but it’s true!
I’m an idiot”
The crack grew
“Kai what I did to you was so shitty and you totally should hate me”
“I shouldn’t even be talking to you right now!”
Tears flowed from your eyes “Everyone’s been saying to leave you alone, but I can’t..”
“Kai I like you, a lot”
His light flickered from the crack in the wall
“And I lied, I’ve never hated you and I never will because you’re an amazing guy”
The light blared through the cracking walls. You peeked threw the cracks and saw Kai but his light dulled again
“You’re just saying that because you feel bad” he turned away. “no! I’m saying it because I mean it” but he didn’t budge.
“Kai!” He ignored you “Listen to me!” You stomped over to the stump of the tree “Go home y/n” Kai bluntly said putting on his headphones closing his eyes “No I said if I needed you I’ll find you!”
The sole of your shoe was pressed against the tree while you began to pull yourselves up “I’m not letting you go!”
“I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth if I have to” you cried out. Kai peeked to see you sobbing trying to climb the tree “Hey don’t do that!” He began to freak out
“I'm a mess, but I wanna be your mess!” You gripped onto the tree “My apartment is so lonely without you and I miss your goofy text”
I miss you Kai!
And I want you”
“Y/n stop the branch won’t be strong enough for the both of us!” Your feet were killing you but you had tunnel vision.
“I can’t stop thinking about you!”
Your fingers clawed at the large breaks in the wall, trying to get the lonely boy on the other side.
“You’re everything I’ve ever wanted and I couldn’t believe you would want me!
I was scared! I’ve never felt this way before you give me this rush and I love it!…” you pushed up “I love..”
“You said I’m like the sky because you can’t reach me but you have it WRONG! It’s you I could never reach!!”
You began to light up feeling warm while the large wall shook.
“But I’ll keep trying because… because I love you!!!”
Kai’s eyes widen as he watched you hugging the tree crying 3 feet off the ground.
Your walls began to crumble while you made your way to the other side
“I’ll say to the world if I have to, I love you HUENING KAI!”
“I KNOW I LOVE YOU!!!!…” You stopped climbing your body freezing because of the pain as your face rested against the tree bark.
“Please just say you love me” you whispered holding your eyes shut. you heard the tree leaves shake.
There was so much you wanted to tell him but you felt so overwhelmed. “Hyuka, I’m so sorry” You whimpered trying to continue climbing but arms around your waist pried you off the tree.
He placed you on the ground turning you around, his soft eyes watered at the sight of you but a smile followed “I’ve finally reached you” was all he said
Your lip quivered embracing him. “Hyuka!” You cried out holding onto him tight, your legs finally giving up on you but it was fine because he held onto you afraid to let go.
“I love you!” Sobbing into his sweatshirt. He lifted his hand to your face holding your cheeks his fingers caressed the bark indents
“I love you too”
“Will you give me another chance?”
He just smiled and bent down pressing his lips into yours. Your stomach did flips but they were good this time. You kissed him back hands still wrapped around his waist.
Kai teared up feeling so happy while his hands got soaked from your tears. He laughed resting his forehead against yours “Stop crying” Kai joked but all you did was cry even more
“I can’t I’m so overwhelmed,” you told him grabbing his face and bringing him back down.
His light shined voluminously as you held him tight. You shined bright and warm together.

Nothing Stays the Same Forever: Chapter 3
previous
She heard Maria laughing at something when she walked into their house the following evening.  There hadn’t been much waiting for her to work on even after staying home the previous day, but she ended up consumed with a complex pattern for the quilt she would sew for Baby Miller.  So she felt like a poor guest when she didn’t have time to make anything to contribute to the dinner.
“Is that you Y/N?”  Her friend called from the kitchen.  “We’re all back here.”  She slipped off her coat and hung it up by the front door and went to greet them.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to bring anything tonight.”  She said awkwardly.  Maria just pulled her into a quick hug.
“Don’t worry about it, just happy to have you here.”  Tommy threw an arm around her shoulders and handed her a glass with what looked like whiskey in it.
“You will have to make one of your pies for next time though, I’ve been singing their praises to Joel since he got here.”
“Oh!”  She felt the tips of her ears get hot.  “I guess we just have to see what’s in season, but I can do that.”  She took a swallow of the amber liquid and hoped the alcohol would give her a little more courage.  With the pleasant warmth in her belly she finally looked over at Joel and was startled to find him already watching her.  Despite herself, she found it nearly impossible to turn away from those deep, dark eyes of his.  He sipped at his own glass, still staring her down.
“No Ellie tonight?”  Y/N asked, realizing the girl was nowhere to be seen.
“Apparently we’re all old and boring,”  Maria told her.  “But she did seem to enjoy her visit yesterday.”
“It was nice of her to stop in.  I told her she’s welcome any time.”
“Finally broadening your social horizons?  I’m glad I sent her over there.”  Maria opened the oven and judged the roasted chicken to be finished cooking, pulling it to rest on the counter.
“Should tell Ellie to feel honored, Joel.  Y/N doesn’t invite anyone over.”  Tommy clapped his brother on the back and poured another splash into his glass.  “She’s a shy little violet.”
“She thought I was afraid of her…”  Y/N mumbled.  “I just wanted her to feel welcome, that’s all.”
“If Ellie wears out her welcome just boot her out the door.”  Joel told her.  “Girl will talk your damn ear off.”  She swallowed down the rest of her whiskey.
“I really don’t mind her company.  It might be nice to have some more visitors.”  Tommy laughed and nudged Joel with his elbow.
“That sure sounds like an invitation to me, big brother.  If you don’t take this pretty lady up on that I’ll disown you.”  Y/N felt her face go from hot to cold and back to burning up.
“I d-didn’t mean to suggest…”  She stuttered.
“Tommy, stop picking on the poor girl.”  Maria punched her husband’s arm lightly.  Joel threw back the last of his own drink.  Y/N watched his throat constrict as he swallowed.
“Might not be a bad idea to check out your place if Ellie’s gonna be spending time there.”  He said.  “Make sure you’re a good influence.”  Y/N wrung her hands together in a self soothing gesture, wishing she was any good at these types of interactions.  Was Joel being serious?  Was he teasing her like Tommy liked to?  Or, and she highly doubted the last option, could he possibly be flirting?
“You’re welcome any time too, Joel.”  She finally said.  Desperate to get the attention off of herself, she cleared her throat and glanced over at Maria.  “Is there anything I can do to help with dinner?”
“Not a thing,” she replied.  “All that’s left to do is sit and eat.  We have a fresh loaf of bread and I opened a jar of green beans from last summer’s harvest to go with the chicken.  Do you want another drink?”  Maria asked over her shoulder as she carved the chicken.  “Or I think there’s some iced tea in the fridge.”  She was worried more alcohol would loosen her tongue far too much.
“Tea sounds great, can I get you some too?”
“Just water for me, I have to be careful with the caffeine.”  Y/N busied herself with the task, grateful for something to do with her hands.  Tommy made himself useful and set the table and Joel stepped in to carry the food so Maria didn’t have to.  Bracing herself, Y/N turned to sit down and realized with a jolt that she would be sitting next to the brooding man.
“Here you are,” she croaked out.  “Everything looks delicious as always, Maria.”  She took her seat and tried not to be so aware of the presence beside her.  When he passed her the basket with the bread, their hands brushed and it took all her self control to not leap out of her skin.  “Thank you.”  She whispered, meeting his eyes once again.  Joel nodded and for a few seconds she swore the corners of his mouth turned up.
The rest of the meal went by in a blur.  Tommy seemed to be in a chatty mood.  Maria kept giving her pointed looks that only deepened Y/N’s confusion.  She wasn’t a sparkling conversationalist on a good day around people she knew, and Joel didn’t seem to be much of a talker either.  The whole situation had her stomach doing somersaults, so she mostly picked at the food on her plate.  She spent the time looking down at her fork so she missed the look Tommy and Maria shared.
“Y/N used to work in a bridal boutique.”  Maria blurted out, and she looked up in alarm.  “Didn’t your Grandma teach you how to sew?”  Those dark, searching eyes landed on her again.  Y/N could hear her pulse rush in her ears.
“Um, yeah.  When I was little.”  Maria nudged her leg with her foot.  “We found an American Girl doll at a church rummage sale and all she had was a little pair of shoes.  She taught me how to make clothes for her.”  Joel made a quiet sound in his throat.  Y/N swore she could feel the heat radiating off his body.
“We all certainly benefit from her skills.”  Was that a hint of frustration in Maria’s voice?  “Our patch jobs were pretty rough before we found her.”
“You did what you could.  I’m sure you all would have gotten along if I hadn’t ended up here.”  She heard her friend sigh and it made her feel awful.  What was she supposed to be doing?  Y/N wasn’t the type of person that thrived under the attention of others.
“Joel was a contractor back then.  You’re both pretty good with your hands.”  She glanced over at him again and attempted a friendly smile.
“I bet that was satisfying, building things.”  He slowly chewed a bite of food and swallowed.
“It was good work.”  He finally replied.  Maria rested her forehead against her hand.
“He was very good at what he did,”  Tommy laughed.  “Just too humble to brag about himself.”
“Kept me busy.”
“What was the most expensive dress you ever worked on, Y/N?”  Maria asked.  “It was by one of those really fancy designers.”
“It retailed for about twenty thousand.  Lots of lace and beadwork.”  She could almost feel the delicate fabric slip through her fingers.  Luxury and decadence that would most likely never exist again.  “We had to be really careful doing the alterations.  I did a lot of work on the veil to make it match.”
“Lot of fuss and money for something that was only worn once.”  Joel’s dismissive tone hurt Y/N more than she could have anticipated.
“Maybe it wasn’t as noble as building homes, but I really loved what I did.  I found it very fulfilling.”  She replied, more venom in her tone than she thought she was capable of.  Her fist clenched around her fork.  Joel looked surprised for a moment, and then sighed, his expression softening.
“I apologize, I didn’t mean to offend you.  It really is a lost art these days.”  He said gently.  As quick as the fire had built up inside of her, Y/N felt it extinguish almost immediately with his apology.
“It’s fine, I guess I didn’t realize how much I miss it.  I’m happy to be useful here, but sometimes I can’t help but wish I could work on something that’s only job is to look pretty.”
“Maybe one day you’ll get another chance.”  Joel’s benevolent expression surprised her, she didn’t expect that the gruff man could appear soft in any way.
“Maybe.”  Was all she respond with.
After their shared meal, she insisted that she clean up for Maria.  It took less convincing than it normally would have, but as her pregnancy progressed, she found her energy levels depleting much faster.  Y/N shooed her friend away to put her feet up and gathered all the dishes to wash.  Joel appeared at her elbow with a towel, holding his hand out for one of the wet dinner plates.  For a man so large and broad, he moved far too quietly.
“You startled me!”  She said, a little breathlessly.
“Sorry.  I thought I could help dry.”
“Thanks, that would help.”  She handed him the dish and he carefully wiped the water from the plate before putting it back in the cupboard.  The two worked in silence for several minutes.
“I really am sorry for being rude before.”  He finally mumbled at her.  “It’s hard to adjust my mindset being here after twenty years of survival mode.”  She nodded and handed him a handful of silverware.
“I know what you mean, I spent most of the time in a FEDRA building in the QZ.  It’s so different out there, outside the cities.  And then coming to Jackson…It’s a huge culture shock.”  She started to wipe down the countertops.
“You were FEDRA?”  His body language went rigid.
“Hell no.  I just worked in one of their buildings.  Officially I was a janitor, but I was more of a glorified maid and step ‘n fetch.”
“Oh.”
“Those people are monsters.”  She zoned out looking out the window over the sink.  “I dreamed about escaping every single day.”  She nearly lept out of her skin when Joel touched her forearm.
“I’m sorry.  Again.  I keep putting my foot in it tonight.”  She stepped away and his hand fell back to his side.
“Don’t worry about it.  We’ve all had a shit go ‘round.”  She shrugged.
“I feel like we’re off on the wrong foot.”  She turned to him, trying not to tear the rag in her tense hands.
“Joel.  It’s fine.”  He looked a bit like a scolded child.
“Tommy really likes you.  Maria too.”
“So you think that means you need to like me?”  Y/N didn’t know when the backbone had grown, maybe after downing the whiskey earlier.
“No! I mean I do.  I mean…I don’t know you that well yet but you seem like a nice person.”  His brow furrowed and he looked annoyed.  “I’m no good at this talking to people stuff.”
“I pretty much suck at it too.”  She rinsed the rag out and wrung it dry.  “Look, I know you didn’t mean to upset me.  You seem like you mean well.”  There wasn’t much about Joel that said “nice”, but Y/N knew bad and Joel wasn’t it.  “I meant what I said before.  You and Ellie are both welcome at mine any time.  Don’t expect the merry homemaker treatment or anything, but I probably spend too much time alone and it might be nice to have some company.”  Joel visibly relaxed a fraction.
“We appreciate it.”
With the kitchen cleaned up, Y/N shrugged her back into her coat and said her thank yous and goodbyes to Maria and Tommy.
“We’ll have to make this a regular thing, maybe convince Ellie to join us next time.”  Maria said, hugging Y/N tightly.
“We’ll be older and probably even more boring then.”  She replied, making Tommy laugh.  “Get some sleep, you do too much.”  She told the other woman.
“I gotta get it all done before I’m too big to do anything,”  Maria replied with a grin.  “This baby isn’t weighing me down just yet.”  She looked over at her brother-in-law.  “Joel, you’ll make sure she gets back to her house all right?”
“It’s just a little ways down the street…”  She began.
“I’ll make sure of it.”  He said, and held the front door open for her.  With no choice but to go along, Y/N gave Tommy a quick hug and walked out in a huff.  Joel mumbled out a goodnight and followed her.
Tommy wrapped Maria up in his arms and kissed her cheek.
“I never thought I’d meet someone as oblivious as my brother.  You were about as subtle as a wrecking ball.”  Maria laughed and settled against her husband.
“I’d just like to see the two of them not be so lonely.  Especially her.  She hasn’t told me anywhere near everything she went through…”  Sometimes the haunted look on her friend’s face broke her heart.  “They could be good for each other, even if it’s just a friendship.”

Come Home Chapter Twenty Two
Joel Miller x F! Reader
Word count: 7,397
The summer cookout is a time for joy and relaxation (and some much needed alone time for you and Joel!)
But nothing in this world is ever permanent...
We're ramping up the smut a little in this chapter. I hope you all enjoy! (Also when he says "You imagined it?" I immediately thought of the sweet, eager way he said "You got me a present?" to Sarah in the first episode. Hence the gif choice!)

Come Home
Chapter Twenty Two - The Happening
The summer cookout in Jackson was anticipated with just as much excitement and fanfare as the Winter Dance. Every time you moved through the town you would hear snatches of conversation about it – the decorations that were to be hung, the dishes to be made, hopes that the good weather would hold out.
That you and Joel would be attending together was no secret of course, but you had also decided to pool your resources and bring a selection of food between you. He had also promised you a surprise, and in your excitement you found yourself asking about it almost as frequently as Ellie had asked about her birthday, but he was as tight lipped now as he had been then.
What he didn’t know was that you had an ongoing secret plan of your own. Since Mrs Drew had allowed you access to her sewing machine you had been working on a project – a summer dress that you hoped would drive him wild. You had searched through the clothing supplies in the central stores of Jackson and eventually found something that looked like it might have once been a nightgown. It was powder blue and very long, with an empire neckline and long sleeves. You had removed these, cut and hemmed it so that it would sit mid-thigh instead, and were currently in the process of taking in the waist so it was more form fitting.
Mrs. Drew had not been shy about voicing her opinions.
“Your young man is going to have difficulty keeping his hands to himself!” she had cackled.
“He’s fifty three!”
“If he’s young enough to get excited by you in that dress, he’s young,” she had insisted, making you laugh.
Shoes were the only thing you were slightly concerned about, as you really didn’t want to wear your boots, but Vanessa came to the rescue when you told her what you were planning. She was due to ride out to inspect the town that you and Joel had delivered supplies to all those months back, and she promised she would try to find something suitable for you. She returned with a pair of plain black ballet pumps, jewelled sandals that were surprisingly intact and some silver stilettos that were absolutely beautiful but that you were sure you wouldn’t be able to walk in after years of practical footwear.
The day of the cookout you’re up early to make potato salad, roasted vegetables and a buttery oat and blueberry traybake. Your front and back doors are wide open to counter the heat from your kitchen and Ellie flits between your house and Joel’s, assisting and hampering your progress in equal measures.
“Hey!” you say as she nabs yet another piece of potato salad. “Not cool! There won’t be any left if you keep this up!”
“She robbin’ you blind too?” come Joel’s gravelly tones from your doorway.
“Hey, I can’t help it if you’re both good cooks,” Ellie says after swallowing.
“Your flattery will get you nowhere, missy,” you reply jokingly, re-covering the potato salad from where she had opened it up.
“What about my flattery? Will that get me anywhere?” Joel asks smoothly as he enters your kitchen, a distinctly flirtatious tone to his voice.
“Annnd that’s my cue to leave,” Ellie says, jumping up from her seat.
“Hey, it worked! The food is safe once more,” Joel grins.
“You dick!” Ellie rolls her eyes before departing from the same door Joel came into. “I’m just gonna eat your food now!” she calls back as she walks away.
“I do not doubt that,” Joel mutters before planting a kiss on your cheek. “Which means I gotta go stop her. That girl is like a plague of locusts all on her own! I just wanted to see if you needed any help with anything.”
“Thank you, but I’m good,” you say turning to him and clasping your hands around the back of his neck. “Might need some help carrying it into town, that’s all.”
“People are gonna start getting’ there around three or so. I’ll come by then?”
“Sounds good to me,” you say leaning up to kiss him, excited anticipation thrumming through you at the thought of his reaction to your outfit.
It does look good, you have to admit. Another little piece of life past that you thought had been permanently buried and that Jackson was allowing to shine through again. The heels were more comfortable than you had anticipated, though you didn’t doubt that you would be cursing them after a few hours. You decided upon the sandals instead, promising yourself to give Joel a more private viewing of the stilettos another time. The empire neckline is very flattering, skimming the top of your bra in just the right way that you show a little cleavage, but won’t feel too exposed. You grab a cardigan too, in anticipation of the evening time chill, and in case you start to feel self-conscious about the scarring that can partially be seen on your upper shoulder. The wounds have healed as well as can be hoped, but still stand angrily against the rest of your skin.
Just as you’re finishing packing up the food into bags, a knock comes at the door and Ellie enters.
“You ready?” she’s saying before she’s even inside. “We’re gonna-wow!”
“I’m hoping that’s a good ‘wow’ and not a ‘what the fuck are you thinking’ one,” you grin.
“Dude, you look great! Where have you been hiding that?”
“Thank you! I made it. Thought I could try to make myself look decent for once instead of stomping around here covered in manure and hay!”
“Joel’s gonna lose it,” she grins, and then catches herself, her nose wrinkling as a faint look of disgust passes over her face. “You guys can stay the hell away from me tonight,” she adds, a jibing tone softening her words.
“Fair,” you agree. “Let’s go.”
Joel has his back to your house as you emerge from it and close the front door, Ellie thundering down the steps ahead of you. He turns as he hears the noise, and you see the precise moment that all thought leaves his brain. His eyes widen and his mouth drops open slightly as he sees you and you try very hard not to laugh and ruin the effect you’re having on him, choosing instead to pretend you had no idea that he was currently short circuiting inside.
You make your way daintily down the steps, swaying your hips just a little more than came naturally as you moved and setting the light cotton material to brushing against your bare thighs.
“Ready to go, Miller?” you purr.
“Uhh…uh yeah. Yeah,” he replies, sounding a little dazed.
Ellie rolls her eyes. “This is gonna be a long night,” she mutters darkly.
From your peripheral vison, you see Joel’s eyes consistently sliding over on the walk to town, drawn inexorably to you. Every time they do, he stares for a few moments before coming to himself and dragging his gaze away to focus on the path ahead again. The thrill of power rushes through you and wonder how long it will be before he finally snaps and drags you away from the party for a little one on one time.
The town is bustling and jovial. Streams of homemade bunting twine down pillars and flutter from the roofs, waving gaily in the soft summer breeze. Laughter and chattering voices are raised above the strains of exuberant fiddle playing, the hiss and sizzle of cooking meat underpinning it all. The smells are gorgeous, chicken and sweet barbeque and woodsmoke all coming together to hurl you back to a more civilised time. You approach the already heaving trestle tables to add your contributions where you are intercepted by Vanessa and Chloe who draw you into hugs one after the other, and who fuss over your dress and praise your sewing skills.
The long afternoon changes to early evening almost imperceptibly. Everyone is laughing and smiling and there are more than a few loud conversations as the alcohol and food flow through the populace. You and Joel draw together and break apart, floating on the tides of friendship and laughter as you circulate through the crowd. Whenever he is next to you his hand invariably finds its way into yours, or on to the small of your back or around your shoulders, and his gaze lingers long on your eyes, your face, your body. His own eyes are full of smiles and a softness that makes your chest fill to over brimming with breathless excitement.
Ellie comes and goes too, but you notice she is sticking particularly close to the girl with the lotus tattoo that you had seen at the movie night. After a bathroom break, you emerge from the bar to find them talking outside. You edge closer to them, not wanting to disrupt their evening, but curious to know if this is the famed tattoo artist you had heard about. Ellie spots you and waves you over.
“Good evening?” you ask.
“Pretty good, yeah,” she replies casually. “This is Cat,” she adds.
“Hi,” you say, introducing yourself with a wave. “Nice to meet you. Am I right in thinking that you’re our resident tattoo expert?”
“Expert is a strong word,” Cat says with a laugh. “But I have a little studio set up at home. Why, you want another?"
“I’m thinking about it,” you admit. “How would I go about paying you?”
“You made that traybake, right? I could go for more of that. Like…a LOT more. It’s damn good! And Ellie told me you know how to knit. Could you teach me?”
“Of course. Come by any time. And I don’t know if you go on patrol but if you ever want something from outside let me know. As soon as I can get back out there I’ll try to find whatever it is.”
A pained expression passes over Cat’s face. “Yeah, I heard about your accident. Sounded rough.”
“Not infected, not dead,” you shrug. “Could have been much worse.”
You spend a few minutes showing Cat your various tattoos, exclaiming over hers and telling her about parlours from before the world fell, but you get the feeling Ellie would prefer to be alone with her, so before too long you make your excuses and wander off to find Joel. On the way you stop to root through a cooler packed with ice, eventually drawing out a couple of cold beers for you both.
You spy him from afar – those broad shoulders are hard to miss, even in a crowd. He is talking to Tommy, and from this distance and with them stood so close together you can see the familial resemblance more and more - the carelessly curly hair, the broad shoulders, their noses and eyes.
Tommy spots you approaching and tips his beer bottle toward you in greeting. Joel’s grin grows wider as he looks up sees you too, and he mutters something to Tommy that makes him smile as well. He claps Joel heartily on the shoulder and moves away before you reach him, leaving the two of you alone.
You hand Joel his beer and clink the neck of it delicately against your own before taking a sip.
“So…how you doing, Miller?”
You can see the struggle within him but try as he might, Joel’s eyes still slide down your body, catching on the swell of your breasts at your neckline, the way the hem of your skirt brushes your thighs, your bare legs.
“Joel?” you prompt after a full ten seconds of silence.
“Yes!” he says, his eyes snapping back to yours and his voice forceful with an “I was definitely paying attention” note to it.
“I asked if you’re okay,” you giggle, sliding your arm around his waist and looking up at him.
“Oh you know I ain’t,” he grins. “Since someone decided to wear the prettiest damn dress I’ve seen in years. Where did you even get that?”
“Made it,” you say casually. “I was hoping you’d like it. Also it’s keeping me nice and cool right now.”
“Not me,” he murmurs, his eyes roving over you hungrily again. “I am feelin’ distinctly warm.”
“We can erm…we can go to the stables? I mean if you want,” you offer, raising a cheeky eyebrow at him.
“I got a better idea. Time for your surprise I think.”
He grabs his backpack from where it rests beside one of the tables before catching hold of your hand and beginning to lead you away from the main thoroughfare of Jackson toward the fields of pasture that you were working in and around so regularly these days. He guides you decisively to a particular one of them, leading you to believe that he has reconned this particular mission thoroughly. The field he enters is on a slight incline, giving you a magnificent overview of the vastness of the setting sun in the evening sky whilst also affording you a degree of privacy from the rest of Jackson as you walk down it a little way.
“Here’s good,” Joel says as he stops, hands you his beer to hold, drops his pack to the ground and begins to rummage through it.
He produces a large, checkered blanket in red and white which he lays upon the ground, putting his pack at one end in case an errant gust decides to try to carry it away. As you kneel at the other end he takes out a Tupperware box and takes off the lid to reveal a pile of large, ripe strawberries that he places reverently on the blanket. A bundle that looks very much like one of his t-shirts emerges next, from which he produces two wine glasses that were nestled within and which he also places down carefully. Finally, he lifts a wine bottle from his backpack, along with a corkscrew. He uncorks the wine to breathe and places it on the ground, flattening the grass and pressing it firmly into the dirt so it doesn’t tip over.
The grin on your face is wide and joyful and he matches it as he looks down at you.
“I realised,” he says slowly, grunting as he lowers himself on to the blanket next to you, “that we have never been on a proper date. And I just could not let that slide.”
“Glad I accidentally dressed for the occasion,” you smile as you lean forward to kiss him softly. “And you certainly know how to pull out the stops, Miller.”
“You like it?”
“It’s perfect,” you assure him.
He lies down, propped up by one elbow. You seat yourself next to him, tucking your legs under you to one side and resting your hand on his hip after you give him his beer.
“Here’s to our first date,” you say, clinking the beer bottle against his again.
“Our first date,” he echoes. “And to you. For…for givin’ me another chance. You woulda been well within your rights to never speak to me again. But you did and-“ He takes a deep breath, and you can see him mentally fortifying himself to continue speaking. “-and I ain’t been this happy in a long time.”
The sincerity of his words and the fact that he is sharing his feelings openly like this blindsides you, temporarily causes your brain to stall and the feelings within you to amplify and stutter within your chest with how overpowering they are. Your first thought is of how you feel the same way, how his presence in your life has reignited feelings you swore were dead and buried years ago, and how you can tell him that without it sounding trite or like you were just echoing his sentiments for the sake of it.
Your second thought is of how you supposed you could have never spoken to him, but deep down you know that had never been a real option. You had missed his company so desperately when he hadn’t been around, and now that you are thinking about it more fully, you realise that period had been the first real glimpse into the profundity of the emotions that were now so present in your everyday life. That the absence of him had left such a gaping chasm so quickly had led to the inescapable and frankly terrifying conclusion that you had come to depend on him. And that having him here with you like this felt so fucking perfect, so fucking right was swiftly leading you to another that was equally alarming. But you can’t find it in yourself to allow those anxieties to enter this moment. Not when he’s lying right in front of you looking so handsome, with one hand resting against his head and his fingers disappearing and reappearing within the salt and pepper of his hair, the other hand grasping his beer bottle like a lifeline and rubbing his thumb over it in nervous movement.
“Say somethin’?” he says and there’s a note of pleading that you have never heard in his voice before. You realise you’ve been silent for a long time, just staring at him, and as he raises his eyes to you there’s another first. The openness and pure vulnerability in those warm chocolate depths delivers a sucker punch to your heart, and you can do nothing in this moment except lean forward and kiss him. Its soft and slow, and you feel as if you’re somehow juggling both his heart and yours, desperate not to drop them, aching to make him understand how deeply he affects you, yearning to make him feel happy every single day.
You draw back and stroke your thumb over his whiskered cheek as you cradle his face in your hand and this time you steel yourself to speak.
“There…was never another choice,” you admit quietly. “You make me so happy, Joel. You always have. Except well…you know.” He drops his eyes to his beer bottle again, his face closing off a little in his shame. “I never thought we’d end up like this,” you continue. “I just wanted my friend back. But having you this way…it’s better than I ever imagined.”
“You imagined it?” he asks, his eyes snapping to your face again eagerly.
“Yes, idiot, I imagined it,” you say, unable to stop the smile that slides across your face.
“Well, I did too,” he confesses, his hand leaving the beer bottle to take yours. “Especially after you asked me to stay that night.”
You groan and close your eyes against the memory of your drunkenness.
“I would say I’m sorry, but I’m not. I uh…I woke up in the night and I was cuddling you.”
“I know,” he smiles softly. “I woke up too when you put your arm round me and pushed yourself against my back. I didn’t know if I should try to move away, but I realised that I really didn’t want to. No regrets. Best damn night’s sleep I’d had in years.”
You drain your beer and place it to the side before lying down next to him, mirroring his position with your elbow propping you up.
“Well,” you sigh, sliding your hand around his waist. “I say we should have a repeat performance then. In the interests of a good night’s sleep of course.”
“Oh of course,” he frowns, all mock seriousness until the sunshine of his smile breaks through again.
“Can’t promise I’ll be quite so hands off this time though,” you add, slipping your hand under his t-shirt to stroke over his bare skin.
“Oh I’m countin’ on it,” he rumbles as he rolls forward, gently pinning you to the blanket and kissing you sweetly.
The strawberries are delicious, perfectly ripe and juicy. So ripe in fact that one almost explodes as you bite into it, the pink juice running down your chin and dripping on to the top of your breast. Luckily, Joel is there to catch it with his thumb, the pad sliding smoothly on your skin, up the slope of your breast, and making you shiver.
“Can’t be ruinin’ that pretty dress,” he winks at you as he sucks the sweetness from his finger.
The wine is also delicious, but much stronger than you had anticipated and you’re glad he only brought one bottle with him. You drink and eat and chatter and laugh together. He is glorious by the light of the long-setting sun – his skin seeming to glow golden in its hazy, warming light, his arms all sinuous muscle as they prop him up, his face less laden with worries than you ever remember it being, and his smile wide and insistent and true.
“What’s the best date you ever went on?” you eventually ask, the buzz of alcohol flowing through you and removing some of the barriers to your curiosity about him.
“This one. Obviously,” he smiles. “But before…I guess it was probably with Sarah’s mom. In fact, I think it was the night that Sarah was…y’know…made.”
The snort that you make is in no way attractive, but you can’t help it. “Made?!”
“Conceived then. I dunno how to say it without soundin’ stupid,” he grins. “But that night…well I dunno if it even counts as a proper date really. But it sure was memorable. We’d had a fight. We fought a lot back then. Always somethin’ stupid, I don’t even remember what it was about this time. And I was so tired. Of fightin’ and from the day and I just needed to get outta there. Outta that apartment, outta that situation. So there she is, lookin’ at me like I pissed in her cereal after screamin’ blue hell at me, and I just grab her hand and walk. She asks me where we’re goin’ and I say I don’t know. And we just got in the car and drove. Windows down, music up. Ended up singin’ along and laughin’ together and it was like the fight never even happened. We made it to this little place on the edge of the city, overlookin’ it and we just sat on the hood together and watched the lights.”
“That sounds pretty romantic actually.”
“It was. Until it started rainin’.”
“Ah but you see, you forget that I know what you look like caught in the rain. No wonder she couldn’t resist you. I know I couldn’t.”
Joel smiles and looks down at the blanket, and the sweet self-consciousness of his expression makes your heart flutter in your chest.
“C’mere,” he says, taking your wine glass and placing it on the ground next to his own. He draws you down, wrapping one arm around you so you’re lying next to him with your head on his shoulder. The sky above you has faded from a rosy gold to a chillier lilac, the first brightest stars already appearing, and the breeze is still warm and welcoming as it gently whispers across your skin.
“So what was your best date?” he asks. “Apart from this, of course,” he adds cheekily.
“Six month anniversary with Alex,” you reply, and then immediately freeze. The words had just slid right out, no hesitation, no stumbling over her name. To cover your shock you turn on your side, nestling closer to Joel and placing your hand over his chest. He takes it, covering it over with his and lacing his fingers with yours.
It's bizarre, this feeling. A warring within of two versions of yourself. The person that you had held on to for so many years, that had been so deeply affected by what had happened, by what you had seen and done, the part that made you sleep in a bathtub, that closed your airways at the mere thought of her name. And then this you – here and now, lying peacefully on a hillside at sunset with the man that you were falling in love with. And you knew now for a certainty that you were. Your thoughts around him were tinged with brightness, his smile made you weak, the mere touch of his skin upon yours was electric. He made you feel safe and wanted and like you were something he had been desperately missing, though you knew that wasn’t entirely true. He had been happy before you came, as far as you could tell. Happy in Jackson with his family. Still…the way he looked at you, the way he kissed you, the way he wanted to be close to you. It all spoke to an acute need within him that you were fulfilling. And you hoped with every fibre of your being that it was true.
“What did you do?” he asks softly.
You know you could back out. You could tell him that you couldn’t talk about it, or even that you didn’t want to and you know he would respect that and nothing would change between you. But for the first time in as far back as you can remember you want to say something about her. You want to share openly and honestly, to feed that part of you that connects with him and allow the closed off part of you to wither away and die. And you want to supplant the final memories you have of her, replace them with happier and more vibrant times. You take a deep breath and ground yourself in the feeling of Joel surrounding you before you speak again.
“We went to the carnival. She…she was studying medicine at the time and she was always stressed out and overworked. But that evening we went and we just had an entire evening of fun. I won her a giant stuffed dragon at one of the games almost as soon as we got there and she had to carry it with her the whole time. It came with us on the rides and everything. We nearly made ourselves sick with the amount of funnel cake we ate. And then we sat on the pier and watched the sun set. It was just us you know? Like no one else existed.”
“I think I have an inklin’” Joel says, the rumble of his low voice vibrating through you as he holds you tighter to him. It is like that here, you realise. The strains of the sounds of the cookout are almost fully muted by the buildings and expanse of pasture between you and the others. All you can hear are the birds, the breeze, Joel’s breathing and heartbeat. You might as well be the only two people on earth.
“Thank you for doing this,” you whisper, your voice emerging much softer than you had intended.
He kisses your forehead, the whiskery brush of his beard a little ticklish against your skin.
“Any time, sweetheart.”
You lie there together in peaceful silence for a while, enjoying the evening birdsong, the warmth of his body, the comforting scent of him surrounding you. Perhaps it was the beauty of your surroundings, or simply having him so close, but you didn’t feel the way you thought you would about sharing some of your past with him. You felt more rounded, more whole. As if a damaged part of you was slightly less jagged and no longer rubbing other parts of you raw.
The stars are shining more fully now as the sun gives way to the twinkling darkness and you point out the constellations you know and can see to each other. Joel is surprisingly knowledgeable, and he admits that he’s been doing his homework to be able to talk to Ellie more deeply about the thing she loves.
You turn your face away from the sky in favour of looking at him beside you. His hair is ruffling softly in the breeze, his eyes seem black in the fading light. You want to tell him how you feel, how much he means to you in this moment and always, but your words have been robbed from you by how truly beautiful he is. But your silence doesn’t matter. He turns on his side to face you more fully and you see it in his eyes too. He’s looking at your face as if he never wanted to look anywhere else again and his hand is warm against your skin as he cradles your jaw and strokes his thumb over your cheek. You nuzzle into his touch and press your lips to his palm.
“You’re so beautiful,” you murmur against his skin.
“Never been called that before,” he smiles.
“You are,” you insist. “The most beautiful man. And not just because of this.” Bringing your own hand to his face you trace the lines of his forehead, how the skin of his temple and cheek turn to coarse hair, the warmth and plumpness of his lips. “Because you care. And you let people know that you care. Generous. Kind. Thoughtful.”
Before you can continue your litany he surges forward and kisses you slowly and deeply, his breath hot against you. Your mind blanks on whatever else it was you wanted to say. All you can concentrate on is him, so close and so present. His nose brushes over yours before he kisses that too, and your forehead and all over your cheeks and even your chin before he returns to your lips. There’s an urgency about him now, something of iron at the heart of the affection and when he runs out of breath you pull away slightly to look at him again.
“What’s wrong?” you ask.
“It’s…it’s nothin’,” he says softly. “I just…I find it hard to hear that. It’s not how I see myself. All the things I’ve done…” He trails off, and the furrow that has appeared at his brow near breaks your heart.
“It’s how I see you,” you say softly as you cup his face. “I don’t care about what you’ve done. I don’t care about who you were before Jackson, before everything. I care about you now. This person in front of me.”
“But if you knew-“
“I can guarantee that what you’ve done, I’ve done. It’s just how it is now. None of us can go back to who we were. But I want this Joel. Right now, here with me. If I don’t have to be shy with you, you don’t have to hide from me.”
A look of wonderment creeps into his expression. He looks like he wants to say something but that the words won’t come, and after a few moments you take pity on him instead of trying to make him fill the silence.
“You wanna know what I called you in my head before I knew your name?” you smile.
“Ooof, do I wanna know?!” he replies.
“Ruggedly Handsome,” you confess. He snorts a laugh and presses his forehead against your cheek as the ripples of humour run through his body.
“Aw, that’s cute,” he teases, still half laughing as he drags his head up to face you again. “You were Blanket Girl to me at first.”
“Blanket Gi-Joel that’s the worst name I’ve ever heard!” you say indignantly.
“You looked cute all wrapped up in those blankets!” he protests, trying to defend himself. “It stayed with me. Besides, I’m not sure anything can compete with Ruggedly Handsome!”
He joins in with your laughter, the sound loud and joyful in the midst of the quiet of the summer night. As the sound dies away, the humour also fades from his eyes, replaced with urgency and truth.
“You really do look amazin’ you know,” he says softly. “Every day. Not just today.”
“So do you.”
“What? This old thing?” he chuckles, clutching at the hem of his shirt.
“Yes,” you affirm, covering his hand with yours and stroking the skin of his stomach softly. “In everything. And in nothing too, I’ll bet,” you add, cocking an eyebrow at him.
“We’ll have to test that theory one day,” he hums as he rolls toward you, propping himself up on one elbow and caressing your cheek with his other hand.
The weight of him above you is everything you want right now, and you look deeply into the darkness of his eyes before you lean up and kiss him, soft heat flaring within you as your lips meet. Your hands are in his hair, running through his waves as you pull him closer, running your tongue over his bottom lip before he opens to you with a rumbling hum. He’s already half hard and before he can scoot backward to put some distance between you, you trail your hand down his back to the curve of his ass, kneading the firm muscle before pulling him closer to you, feeling him swell further against your thigh.
His hand trails down your cheek, your neck, your chest, and you emit a needy little noise against his mouth as his finger brushes your hardened nipple.
“Fuck, I love hearin’ you,” he whispers fervently.
“I wanna hear you,” you reply just as urgently as you bring your hand around to stroke over the front of his jeans. He exhales sharply at your touch and takes a shuddering breath in as you run your fingers up and down his shaft within the denim before lightly skating upward to where the trail of hair from his belly button disappears behind the button of his jeans.
When you begin to fumble with it, he draws back so he can see you more fully.
“You sure?” he asks, his voice breathless and unsteady.
“I wanna touch you,” you say in a voice that’s half a moan already. He rests his weight on one hip to help as you flick his button open and draw the zip down, releasing him from where he has been confined. You stroke your fingers softly over the magnificent tenting in his boxer briefs, a shiver of excitement passing through you and ending up somewhere between your legs.
It's too dark to see him properly, but you can feel the circular patch of wetness on his underwear and it stokes the simmering inside to a furnace. He’s brushing his lips over your neck as you run a finger around the elastic, dragging it down to free him fully and when you grasp him he chokes out a moan that sends a shiver through you. He is iron clad in velvet and he whispers a breathy ”Fuck” into your temple as you begin to stroke him.
You want to kiss him, want to take him into your mouth, want to feel his tongue on your skin, feel his palms against your breasts. You want so much and before you think about what you’re doing your other hand is between your legs, slipping under the damp material of your own underwear to seek some relief. Lost in the feeling of your hand wrapped around him, he doesn’t seem to realise, at least not until your breathing starts to come stuttered.
“Fuck,” he whispers again. “Can I-“
“Please, Joel,” you whine, not knowing what he wants to do but wanting to give him anything and everything at this moment.
His palm slides down your neck, over the slope of your breasts where he stops briefly to caress you, and then continues down to rub over the soaked strip of fabric that lies between you. His breathing becomes harsher at the feeling of your arousal, and when you take your hand away to grant him greater access he grinds the heel of his palm against you, making you clench around a nothing that you desperately wish was him. You switch hands to touch him, gliding your own slick down over his head and shaft and beginning to pump him in earnest, and the bitten off moan that rumbles through him makes you wetter than ever before.
He gently moves your underwear aside and slowly and reverently runs the pad of his finger up to your clit and down, again and again, spreading your slick all over and drawing moaning sighs from you as warmth begins to spread throughout your lower body.
“Fuck, honey. You’re so wet,” he whispers, nipping at your jaw.
“It’s you. You’re too…fuckin’…much,” you stutter, the English language currently struggling to compete for brainspace with how good he’s making you feel.
He runs his finger down over your clit once more before stilling briefly. His eyes are fixed upon your face as he finally slides one thick finger inside and you see the hunger in his expression before your eyes close of their own accord to try to make sense of the multitude of sensations that erupt within you. He slipped in so easily, so perfectly and he only waits a few brief moments before adding a second. You arch your back, welcoming him and your thighs begin to tremble at the feeling of him filling you.
He repositions, moving so he is kneeling between your legs, and you whimper a little noise of disappointment as he leaves your hand.
“I can’t,” he pants. “You’re too…you’re so…Look at me. I wanna see you.”
Your eyes open to meet his, their dark depths filled with burning desire. He drops his gaze as he pushes further in and then slides out slowly, his eyes fixed on his fingers as they disappear inside of you. Sharp heat is already building, and when he finds the spot he’s looking for he begins to move faster, hitting it every single time. Your hands trail upward to cup your breasts, and you tweak your hardened nipples hard through the thin fabric.
Christ how can anything feel this good? You’re dizzied, trying to drag air into your lungs faster than you’re able, and when his thumb lands on your clit it pushes you impossibly further, the slow build of pleasure suddenly intense and burning.
“Joel,” you whimper.
“I’ve got you,” he rumbles, his eyes now on your face. “I want you to come, honey. Come all over my hand.”
His voice is shaky, and you realise it’s at least partially because he’s also touching himself. The thought is too much and it tips you over, white heat spreading from his hands within you and unfurling through your body as you give him what he wants. He works you through it, kicking it up a notch and focusing with precision upon that place that you can never reach alone. Instead of becoming overstimulated you feel the wave build again before it can fully recede, surging and cresting through you as you cry his name to the skies above.
All too soon you begin to tremble, to skitter away from his touch and he gently withdraws his fingers. Your jaw is slack from your heavy breathing and from the feeling that you can’t really do anything right now except to lie here and bask, and he takes full advantage by leaning over you to kiss you deeply.
As you lie there panting, sweaty and buzzing, his large frame almost covering you and with the feeling of his lips upon yours, you hear a wet sound and realise that he is using your slick to stroke himself.
“So beautiful,” he mumbles against your mouth. “You’re so fuckin’ beautiful.”
Your hands come around to glide up his back, the dewy sheen of sweat over his skin easing the path of your fingertips. He groans at your touch and strokes himself more insistently, your combined wetness sliding over your inner thigh as he presses himself against you, the knuckles of his hand bumping against your skin as he moves. When you run your nails lightly down his back he twitches and judders against you.
“Fuck,” he murmurs. “S-so good. I’m-I’m gonna-“
You raise the hem of your dress further, bunching it around your stomach, but you don’t even get the chance to invite him to come on you before he is, a low, hoarse groan erupting from deep within him as you feel hot jets splash thickly all over your thighs.
His breath is warm and heavy and hitching against you as he stills and you are seized with a desire to know, so you reach down and scoop his spend from your skin, licking it from your fingers, the warm saltiness of him serving to flare the arousal in you once more.
“Christ,” he mutters in an awed voice as he watches you.
“You taste so good,” you hum.
“Christ” he repeats as he half collapses on the blanket next to you.
You draw him close and he rests his head on your chest, snuggling into you, his breathing still rapid and uneven.
“Told you I’d get you back, Miller,” you murmur as you kiss the top of his head.
You feel more than hear his chuckle as he replies “That you did.”
“I still feel like I didn’t do enough. We’re gonna have to-“
“Joel!”
The voice is distant and at first you’re not even sure you heard it, given that blood is still pounding in your ears. But then-
“JOEL!”
It’s Tommy, and he sounds panicked.
“Sh-shit,” mutters Joel as he lurches on to his knees and begins to tuck himself away. You sit up too, tugging your dress down and trying to make yourself look partway presentable.
“JOEL!” comes Tommy’s voice again, his pitch now frantic.
“I’m here!” Joel yells back as he stands up, his jeans finally done up again. You hear the sound of rustling grass as Tommy approaches, and by the sounds of it he is running.
“Joel…you gotta come! Raiders…at the dam,” he manages to pant out.
“Fuck,” Joel curses under his breath as he prepares to follow Tommy.
“Wait!” you exclaim. “I’m coming too!”
“No!” Joel says sharply as he turns back to you.
“I can help!” you insist, bending down to begin dragging items into the backpack.
Suddenly Joel’s hand is on your arm and he’s raising you to face him. He holds your shoulders firmly and looks pleadingly into your eyes as he speaks.
“Your first trip back outside can’t be somethin’ like this. You ain’t prepared-"
“I have to go back out sometime!”
“Sweetheart, I know you wanna help but you ain’t even dressed for it. Please. Stay here. I gotta go. Now.”
You bite your lip. He’s right and you know it, no matter how much you want to argue.
“Come back to me,” you plead.
“Always will,” he promises as he kisses you hurriedly before hurrying after Tommy up the hillside.
You clean yourself up more thoroughly and smooth your hair and clothes while your mind is racing at a hundred miles a minute. The dam had been running smoothly for weeks now, and fewer and fewer people had been needed to go out there. Besides that, everyone had wanted to come to the cookout, and while you didn’t doubt Maria had left a guard out there, you wondered how many people had actually been present when it had been attacked. Tommy had sounded panicked and actively frightened when he had called for Joel. You didn’t even know how word had reached Jackson of the incursion. The walkie talkies wouldn’t work over that distance, so you had to assume someone had ridden in. You stuff the remainder of the things into the backpack and sling it over your shoulder. Even though you’d eaten and drunk everything Joel had brought, it seems to weigh a ton as you begin your own trek up the hillside a few minutes after his departure.
When you get back into the main square of Jackson it’s to the unsurprising discovery that the gathering has been thoroughly dispersed and the party atmosphere sullied beyond repair. People stand huddled in groups talking rapidly and worriedly, some busying themselves by gathering up the leftovers to be stored for tomorrow, some clearing the decorations away.
Maria is standing with Ellie and Cat, all of them with their arms folded and anxious expressions on their faces. You go over to join them.
“If they aren’t back by morning, I’m going out there,” you say bluntly without preamble.
“You and me both,” replies Maria firmly.

Had it been five minutes or five hours? She honestly couldn’t tell as she looked out the window at nothing. The room was silent aside from the sound of Bakugou’s pen running over the paper he was signing. Why the hell was he doing this to her? He was torturing her and she knew it. The smells in the office were warming, Bakugou smelled like a marshmallow that had been roasted over a fire. While Kirishima’s warm earthy scent was oddly nice. Honestly if she closed her eyes and took a soft breath through her nose she could almost think she was outside in the woods enjoying fresh air and warm earth while she roasted marshmallows with friends.
When was the last time Sakaki had found a single alpha, never mind two alpha’s scent so calming and warming? Though Kirishima’s scent wasn’t as strong now that he had left the room. It almost made her sad that his scent was fading a little. Or maybe Bakugou’s scent was overpowering Kirishima’s? It took a moment for her to notice his change in pheromones ever so slightly. As the two remained silent it seemed to be irritating the man as the smoky scent in the air grew stronger. Yet it didn’t turn sour or anything telling her he was really angrier or anything of the sort. It just seems he was growing a little irritated with the heavy silence.
“Are you just going to stand there and stare off into space?” He barked at her. Even though his tone was harsh she didn’t do anything but blink her eyes calmly at him. After all, it was hard to not feel relaxed with the two warm scents in the room. And after all she knew, Bakugou always lashed out like this. Though back in high school she would have flinched at his outburst, but right now she wasn’t bothered by it. After all, the man only seemed to have one way of talking to people. She knew not to take his harsh tone or loud words to heart.
“What else am I supposed to be doing? You have me stuck waiting here for you. There is nothing else for me to do but stand here and end up thinking about things as I wait,” she said calmly, not even fazed by the man. And this seemed to just irritate him even more seeing her unfazed. Bakugou was well accustomed to people caving under his hard gaze and sharp tongue. But the woman was able to stand her ground even if doing so still made her legs feel like jelly. His tone was rough and loud and yet it didn’t actually make her angry or timid. Hell she oddly found it comforting in a way. Maybe it was because he never truly changed. This was truly the same kid from high school. Though that still made her a little sad in its own way.
She knew Bakugou would treat her like shit, as he did pretty much everyone. But he would probably hog all the good fighting, the publicity and praise that would come with the mission. But she had long ago learned that Alpha’s always got the praise and rewards for others' hard work. This mission would be no different. She would remain a hard working shadow as the two men would get all the credit.
“Well, find some way to make yourself useful. Damn extra can’t do anything,” was the growling that came from Bakugou. But hey he wasn’t yelling it in her face so maybe there was an improvement from his high school days.
“I’m not some damn sidekick. I’m not gonna run and get you coffee or anything of the sorts. I’m a damn hero just like you,” she growled back at him. Though this time he did seem to blow a fuse as his hands hit the top of his desk and he stood up all in one fluid motion. Okay she was quickly chewing on the inside of her cheek as she struggled not to flinch and apologize for her growl. It was incredibly hard to keep herself standing there as he stomped up towards her.
“If you're in my agency then you're working under me. And this means you’ll do as you're told,” he was quick to tower over her. She found herself softly licking her lips and nibbling on them as she tried to hide the submissive actions.
“I do not work for you. My boss is Miruko. I am simply here on her orders. And I doubt she would want one of her top hero’s running errands for you like some side kick,” she said softly trying to argue with him but her voice was barely above a whisper. Damn it, why was he able to do this to her? Even without his strong pheromones he easily could have had her omega obeying him.
Her response only had the blonde growling all the more. And yet he seemed a little unsure of what to growl about next. His nostrils had flared as he took deep breaths. But as he paused she watched those vermilion eyes of his dilate as a growl rumbled in his chest. The smoky smell in the air was heavy as if she was standing in a cloud of campfire smoke. She parted her lips and took a deep breath but this only made her mouth water more. Damn it she needed to up her suppressants or get in a stronger dose. Her mouth was watered, her legs wanted to shake, her thighs pressed together as she stared up into those vermillion eyes.
Damn it if she wasn’t careful spending so much time with two alpha’s was going to send her into heat. And with her cycles being unpredictable after all the years in high school abusing her suppressants she couldn’t predict when her heat would come as well as she would like. Sometimes it was every 3 months, other times she could go back to back for 2 months but then not have a heat for 6 months easily. Miruko had grown good at noticing subtle differences in her mood or other habits that helped her boss predict her own heat cycles. Hell she was sure the damn bunny woman knew Sakaki’s body better than even she did.
But this? This situation was different than her typical days whenever she was with Miruko. Sure her boss's scent was not bad but it never made her mouth water and body ache the way Bakugou’s did. Even Kirishima’s scent wasn’t so bad either, both alpha’s had a nice mouth watering scent.
Fuck how long had she been lost in thought? Her gaze had shifted from Bakugou’s face to the floor. When did that happen? Fuck the heavy smell of campfire smoky was almost over powering as the two stood silently. But it seemed the edges of Bakugou’s lips had curled up a little, having seen her eyes drift down as they seemed lost in thought.
“Yeah whatever. You're still just a damn extra,” he said walking past her, not even hesitating to bump his shoulder into hers. She growled softly as his scent clung to her shoulder as he walked off and towards the door leaving the office.
“Hey where the hell are you going?” She called out as she turned and watched him reach for the door.
“To get suited up you idiot. I'm not about to go out in civilian clothes. Meet me in the lobby in ten,” he called out as he walked out of his shared office with Kirishima.
The blonde growled to himself as he stomped his way to the locker room where his uniform was sitting waiting in his locker. Damn it that annoying woman got under his skin. She didn’t flinch away like everyone else did and she even had the nerve to growl back at him. He truly didn’t think she was an omega till he had stood up and approached her about to yell at her some more when a heavenly sweet scent filled his nose.
It had taken all he had in him to make himself stop and just glare down at her. Their little glaring contest didn’t last long though as he watched her gaze drift off, something must have filled her mind. She had licked her lips and her gaze drove to the floor behind him. And yet Bakugou had stood there his nostrils flared as he rather enjoyed the ever so soft scent lingering from the woman. Fresh strawberries and warm chocolate lingered on the woman ever so softly. It seemed Kirishima had been right when he made the comment the night before. Bakugou almost wanted to reach out and rip one of her pheromone blockers off her neck when his eyes lingered on the clear, almost invisible little patch that sat along her neck.
But he knew better than to do that, first off the woman would probably not hesitate to rip his hand off. To be honest Bakugou had a hard time believing this woman was the same one who had gone through UA with him. He honestly barely remembered her. She had been small, nervous and seemed seclusive. It probably didn’t help that she had avoided Bakugou for all she was worth but he didn’t know that. So it only irritated the blonde that he couldn't remember the woman very well when he thought back to the three years he had spent at UA high school. He had spent most of the night before looking through old photos and even tore out the old year book he could find from their first year to spot the dark haired woman. Trying to learn more about her had also not worked as well as he would have liked. Sakaki had kept her work on the down low, she was in a few background images of Miruko when she would be out working.
She stayed out of the media the best she could, and finding information on her was hard. Bakugou had even ended up contemplating texting Deku and asking him but that thought had put a sour taste in the blonde’s mouth. Even if the idiot wouldn’t tease him like Kirishima or Denki would have, he still didn't like the thought of owing anything to Deku in exchange for answers to his questions. So instead the blonde had chosen to sulk and try his best to find old or new videos where she was present with Miruko seeing as how there was never any coverage of the woman alone.
To be honest Bakugou almost felt like he would have had better luck finding information on his old teacher before he started teaching. The fact that this woman could hide herself away as good as Aizawa or better was surprising compared to her much more public work. In the end all his hard work did little but keep him up late and leave him exhausted and more grouchy than even normally.
And so Bakugou was growling and scowling to himself in the empty locker room as he quickly got changed into his hero costume before he left the locker room, still locking his left gauntlet as he made his way towards the lobby. Sakaki was standing among the open lobby, softly shifting her weight from one foot to the other, bored as she waited for the angry blonde to come to her. After all this wasn’t her agency, she didn’t have a locker to keep her costume or civilian clothes in so she was already dressed in her hero costume.
“What happened to meet in the lobby in ten minutes?” She asked as she arched an eyebrow at the blonde as he was storming his way over towards her. Her voice was softly muffled over the support mask she had since pulled up her face allowing it to hide the bottom half of her face. The first thought that went to his mind was Shinsou Hitoshi and the mask he had been wearing since their high school days.
“What’s with the damn mask? You look like fucking eye bags does!” He snapped at the woman ignoring her question and asking his own question.
“What’s the matter? Too intimidating for you?” She asked as the mask hid the smirk but her eyes shimmered playfully giving away her playful attitude. And by eye bags did he mean Shinsou? Because she would be lying if she didn’t admit that was where she got the idea from. He had his voice changer with pheromone blocking built in for being an alpha, or so he had told her. It had helped he found when helping omega citizens as she recalled the purple haired man was extremely sensitive even more so than typical alpha’s. He was one of the few who learned on his own her secret as he apparently was able to tell when he met her even after all the suppressants and pheromone blockers she was on at the time.
At her teasing questions Bakugou scowled. His top lip pulled back to growl at her not finding her teasing as funny and light hearted as she had.
“No it looks stupid,” he growled but she didn’t do more than bat an eye at the angry blonde.
“So you say but I don’t think so. Now come on we got work to do,” she said, turning on her heel to head towards the front door. She wanted to get away from the blonde but she knew she couldn’t do that. Her playful tone was gone as she tried not to be offended at his harsh comment. She should have seen it coming, hell a part of her did. But that didn’t mean it didn’t still bother her.
Hell why did it bother her so much what he thought? She was well aware some people say the mask as odd, masculine, unattractive and pulling from her costumes sex appeal though she didn’t aim for her costume to be sexy she just needed it the way it was to be functional. And yet hearing him say a part of her costume looked stupid upset her. Stupid omega side of her brain wanted to whimper and rip the mask off to please the blonde. But it served a purpose and she needed it, especially now that she was forced to endure the next who knows how many hours with the angry blonde man.
Sakaki remained in her head as the duo walked the street. She really wasn’t paying attention to where they were going or even who they were supposed to be looking for. She didn’t care enough at that moment to be worried about work. She knew better and that she should be focusing but it just seemed so impossible as the two walked in a heavy silence. Well it was only a heavy silence for about a minute, maybe two minutes from the agency before people spotted the all too familiar hero beside her and seemed to flock towards him.
Even with the blonde being a grouchy irritating yelling moron some people still actually approached him. Was it because people had grown a little more accepting of a man with piss poor social skills after having Endeavor as a number one and highly popular hero back when he was still an active hero around All Mights retirement. It probably helped that it was mostly women who were approaching him. Large eyes looking up at him, eyelashes fluttering, flirting as they asked for his autograph even as he would snarl at them.
And this was a prime reason why Sakaki enjoyed staying low. She didn’t care for fame or money, she was happy with the knowledge she was saving people and taking out bad guys. It wasn’t even her who was having to deal with the people and it was irritating her. She was actually amazed the blonde did nothing more than scowl and snarl at the odd person. The angry pomeranian must have matured a little bit if he was able not to just yell at completely everyone who crossed his path. But Sakaki would never actually praise the man on his skills to not threaten to kill a poor civilian.
It truly made it hard for the duo to get to their destination. But Sakaki didn’t say anything till they reached the building roof. They were sitting on looking out down the street and waiting and watching for their target. Supposedly the building they were watching was a wear house the group of villains used. There was no sight of him when they both checked upon arrival.
“Do people always flock to you like that?” She asked now, feeling the need to break the heavy silence between the two. She could hear his tongue click off his teeth lightly.
“Yeah they usually do. Makes patrols a pain in the ass,” he growled softly and actually answered her.
“Geez. I don’t know how you and Kirishima do it,” she said softly. Was it odd that the two were actually having a real civil conversation? She probably had never spoken so much to Bakugou before today.
“Kirishima draws in even more people. It takes him three times longer to do patrols during the day. I can’t even do day time patrols with him. It drives me nuts,” Bakugou admitted as he looked through a small pair of binoculars.
“Makes me happy to be a non ranked hero. I’m surprised you don’t have people running screaming when they see you,” she said, unable to help her teasing tone as she struggled not to snicker. And of course he reacted as she expected.
“What the hell does that mean? You think people are scared of me? You're the one who looks like some villain,” he growled loudly, nearly throwing his binoculars at her as she laughed at his angry outburst.
“Well you’ve never had great people skills. It’s good to see at least you’ve learned a thing or two from high school,” she said, actually hearing the small pops coming from his right hand as he let go of the binoculars with the one hand.
“Oh calm down I’m just busting your balls,” she said, throwing her hands up in a surrendering form but still couldn’t help the soft shake of her shoulders with a silent laugh.
“Oh just shut the fuck up,” he growled at her which had her smirk softly as it seemed he had nothing else to argue about.
With that she picked up her own binoculars and proceeded to watch the building for the remainder of the day sitting among the roof with the angry blonde.

The Roasting Of Steve Rogers (Shieldshock)
Steve should have known he was in for it the moment he witnessed Sam and Bucky whispering to each other with conspiratorial smirks as they leisurely enjoyed their reception fare.
In his defense, though, he was completely and utterly distracted by his very charming bride, who was telling goofy stories about her childhood hijinks and coaxing the same from Steve, who admittedly had quite a few of his own.
He thought Darcy positively sparkled as a bride and he told her so multiple times, in between numerous stolen kisses. They were the epitome of the sappy newlyweds people joked about.
“Ready to get roasted, honey?” she whispered, as Bucky was handed the mic and got to his feet, aiming a mischievous grin at Steve.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” Steve sighed. He was sure Bucky had plenty of good material on him.
“First off, I want to say how thrilled I am for the happy couple: Darcy and Steve, you two are perfect for each other and I wish you nothing but the best.”
“Starting off with the nice stuff,” Steve muttered, smiling at his friend.
“Now, I’m gonna tell you how I knew they were perfect for each other,” Bucky continued. “I spent most of our teenage years pulling Steve out of fights and patching him up and begging him not to do it again. He never listened.”
There was light laughter at this and nods of agreement from Steve’s teammates.
“But he’d always have a very good reason as to why he’d punched someone three times his size and I could never be upset with him for long, because his heart was clearly in the right place and always has been. I just wish it didn’t come with so much stress and black eyes.”
“So when I met Darcy for the first time as she was straight up fighting three Hydra agents with only her taser and her fists, it felt like old times.”
Steve and Darcy both laughed. Shortly after the fall of Shield, a newly escaped Bucky had come across her fighting for her life and lended a (metal) hand. She hadn’t had time to thank him before he’d disappeared, and wasn’t sure how well he remembered it. Apparently, very well.
“She had so much spunk, I couldn’t help but hope she and Steve would cross paths one day. They’d be an absolute force to be reckoned with, if he could ever get up the nerve to talk to her.”
There were more nods of agreement.
“Much to my surprise and delight, when we met up again in Wakanda, he had his feisty new scientist girlfriend with him, and between the beard and the amount of flirting that was going on, I was wondering “Who are you and what have you done with Steve?””
He paused as another wave of laughter rippled through the guests.
“But it was plain as day that my initial instincts had been correct and they not only got along well, but straight up adored each other. It made me happier than I’ve been since God knows how long.”
He cleared his throat.
“Sam reminded me that Steve and Darcy have one more thing in common: being total trolls and committing felonies. Gotta say, that’s right on.”
“We can’t help it if people fall for it,” Darcy replied, with a very unrepentant shrug.
“No, we can’t.” Steve agreed, putting on his most innocent face. “The felonies were necessities, anyway.” Sam aimed the side eye at him and Steve shot his friend a wink.
“Despite that, we love them anyway and wish them a very happy marriage. To Steve and Darcy!”
Bucky toasted the couple and there were loud cheers as glasses clinked together. Then the rhythmic tapping of glasses began and Darcy turned toward Steve with an eager expression.
“You know what that means, babe.”
“You bet I do,” he murmured. “Here’s to more felonies.”
She was giggling as he kissed her.

1-6 for a Tav of your choice?
I do really need to talk about Eiryn more sometime but Val is so fun to roast
What was your Tav’s place of birth and raising like?
Their mother’s family had an estate, between Baldur’s Gate and the Shadowcursed Lands. They grew up in luxury, as the child of a noble, but were somewhat isolated and looked down on, as the child of, yknow, specifically one noble and not her husband.
2. What relationship did your Tav have with their family/guardian(s) growing up? Has that changed with age?
Their mother loved them, and made sure they weren’t treated unfairly, but that relationship was decidedly strained. I think she made a lot of effort to tell them that just because they’re half-drow, it didn’t mean she loved them any less than her other children, which was… maybe less helpful to tell a child than she thought it was. The relationship with their step-father was non-existent, he definitely did not enjoy having a very obvious indication of his wife’s infidelity around. He never wanted to be cruel, but he definitely did want his non-bastard kids to know they were superior to the bastard half-drow he was having to raise, which, again, not a helpful environment for any of these kids! Val’s half-siblings looked down on them and resented having to share things with the kid they were being told they were better than, while Val thought they were a bunch of stuck up assholes.
The only person they really considered family was one of their step-father’s own bastards, and maybe his mother. Lord Rosebrook’s bastards and their families lived in the estate and were well provided for, if not officially part of the family. Val and his brother considered themselves better than all the snooty nobles who cared too much about their status (which ofc had nothing to do with any insecurity over not having that status), and to have more sense than anyone else in the estate.
Val’s relationship with their mother greatly improves after the game, mostly because after years of Val being distant and snarky, Astarion wants to be introduced to their mother. She’s ecstatic to have Val let her know anything personal about their life, and that after years of them claiming love clearly isn’t real, they’ve stopped letting her own disastrous relationship sour them on romance. Val is surprised how supportive she is, once they actually talk to her, of them, and Astarion, and everything else they cautiously start letting her know about.
3. Did your Tav receive any formal or informal education? If yes, how well did they learn? If no, why not?
Val received all the education of the other noble kids, and was an excellent student. I don’t actually know what’s a normal level of education in the Forgotten Realms but I’m thinking secondary/high school level?
Val’s definitely intelligent, but… less so than they think. If you know the experience of being a top student in school, but it’s because you’re specifically good at school lessons and you never actually have to try, or learn how to study for yourself? Val’s that, but unlike me a lot of other people, they never went on to university to discover they’re no longer the top student when they’re surrounded by other Top Students and can’t keep up anymore and don't know what to do when it doesn’t come easily. As such, Val still unfortunately has an over-inflated ego because they incorrectly think they’re smarter than almost everyone they meet.
4. What hobbies does your Tav have? How did they acquire these interests?
Val, along with their brother, is a massive fan of philosophy. Except see the above point on intelligence. Val’s the kind of person who starts reading Fantasy Plato’s Republic and goes “This guy thinks a city should work together as a community? Umm well THAT'S not gonna happen because actually most people are just mindless sheep. And people think he’s the father of philosophy??? Wow, clearly they don’t know anything and I’m better at philosophy than any of them, because I have all these cool ideas and deep thoughts that probably aren’t mentioned in any of these other philosophy books that I’ve decided I’m too smart to need to read.”
They have several other “surface level intellectual” hobbies too, like hanging out in Sorcerous Sundries talking about how they appreciate The Annals of Karsus way more than people who think they should just be allowed to read such a powerful ancient book. Other hobbies include goth fashion, indulging in quite frankly dangerous levels of masochism, and making sure everyone they meet outside their family likes them.
5. Did your Tav have any formal or informal employment? If yes, what was their job? If no, how did they make ends meet? How did they feel about it?
Lmao no, they’re still lounging about in the Rosebrook Estate until like a month before the game started, making ends meet by Rich Mother. After an argument with Lord Rosebrook, they finally decided to leave to seek their fortune/become a warlock/prove they’re way better than you guys actually. They were just about to go back home after running out of money and having no way to get more (what do you mean “get a job”, all the jobs on offer are boring and common) when The Tadpoling happened.
6. What is your Tav’s favourite childhood memory?
Running away with their brother (they were like six and probably didn’t even get off the estate, but in their minds they were Miles away, starting a new life for themselves). They hung out making plans for Great Adventures for several hours, before people finally realised they were missing and there was a whole lot of drama until they were finally found.
