How long have you had your motorcycle license for now? What's it like having a bike VS a car? I imagine it makes shopping a bit of a pain - or do bikes have more storage on them than they appear?

1. I've had my learner motorcycle license for about 7 months now. I plan on going for my restricted after I hit 1000ks and do at least one Ride Forever course and/or one-on-one lesson to make sure I'm doing things correctly.

2. Motorcycle riding is a bit like riding a pushbike but no pedalling and the clutch is your Roman Empire.

I can't speak to personally owning or using a car since I have yet to get behind the wheel. Definitely better for all-weather use and there are different costs involved.

Vehicle registration (rego) for Despechá (Honda CB125F) is just over NZ$400 a year, compared to my dad's Ford Mondeo, which is a bit over NZ$100. This is due to the much higher ACC levy (about $300pa on mine, I pay more in GST than the actual license fee component of my rego) on motorcycles due to the increased risk of injury/death riding.

Fuel-wise, bike is far more economical. A full tank from empty would cost about NZ$30 (11L tank @ ~$2.70/L for 91 unleaded) at the current fuel prices and gets me about 700ks. Would be about $100 to fill the Mondeo for a roughly equivalent range.

Full coverage insurance costs for both vehicles is about the same at about $400pa.

Parking can be a lot cheaper for motorcycles (free dedicated on-street parking). Have to go out of your way for free on-street parking for cars in the city centre. Otherwise, paying at least $4 for an hour of parking.

Gear can be pricy too. Helmet is legally required, and gloves are the bare additional minimum for many, but ideally, you'd have a jacket and boots, and maybe pants. If not to avoid road rash, then to avoid hypothermia in winter. Though it's up to the individual and how much gear they want to wear.

You do get to use high occupany and some bus lanes if you ride here which can make some commutes quicker.

3. I've become a lot more mindful of how much I can carry on the bike. There isn't much stock storage on mine. Only enough space to store her toolkit and spare manual under the seat.

I don't use my bike for a lot of grocery shopping beyond picking up bread and milk so a backpack suffices. Planning on buying panniers and a tank bag but that's becoming less for shopping and more for future travel plans.

Some scooters do have a lot more storage under the seat or on the steering column. It depends on the model.

Do you know if old stuff ever comes back onto the Bioware gear store? There's a couple of things from the DAI era I really want that aren't sold any more...

hello! ◕‿◕ the BW gear store sometimes does do restocks. for example, this is a snip of part of an email notification/update from the bwgs newsletter/mailing list I received which was notifying of an item being back in stock. (it was a Mass Effect item)

and [here] [two] are some examples of posts I made at points in time when other things had come back into stock, spreading that info. (a DA:TV item & a ME item) I also remember the [Solas jaw bone necklace], a DA:I item, coming back into stock at one point around 2 years ago. for older stuff I imagine whether it could happen comes down to things like demand and the popularity of those things/how quick they sold out the first time and suchlike. this is what the BWGS Support Bot says if asked this question:

User: "When are you expecting a restock?" BioWare Gear Store Support Bot: "Restocks are determined through a number of parameters: Availability, The number of "back-in-stock" requests we receive and Whether the item was limited edition or limited production - in which case, the item will not be restocked in it's current form. Once a restock has been deemed necessary, it can take from 3 to 8 months for a restock to happen depending on the manufacturing method and the size of the manufacturing run." [source]

so my best advice rly is to get in touch with the customer support and put in a "back-in-stock requests" for those items to add your interest to the piles at least, as it were. hope this helps a lil ◕‿◕

Actually, not very! Timing is everything tho. First several thousand years, you get to enjoy the land of the gods/post-scarcity elven society, though they'll probably be very confused about humans (you're not supposed to exist yet) and also you'll maybe have to sit in on some Uncomfortable Family Dynamics (not the best dad or big brother for Fingolfin). Then there's about 30 years of frozen hellscape survival horror, a few big battles, another five hundred years where you'll mostly be fine. Just really better hope it's not on his last day, or he's probably pulling a "his son" and chopping off your hand so he can go fight The Source Of All Evil In Arda unencumbered. (He doesn't win anyway). Anything after that, and I have questions about how one can be handcuffed to a ghost!

12. Talk about a new friend you made this year

Co-worker has been upgraded to friend after we bonded over fandom and pet shenanigans. Ended up singing "Still Alive" between orders a couple of weeks back. Gotta have silly moments, especially at this time of the year.

19. What’re you excited about for next year?

Going for my restricted motorcycle licence at some stage after February and working up to doing The Spite Ride on Despechá.

Don't know if this has been posted yet. But a development update has been released about Bloodlines 2 just half an hour ago.

It looks to have character customisation. Woo, no more new age haircut for an elder!

I like the graphics. It is being postponed in release to early 2025. Hopefully, that is a good thing.

Went to a LotR marathon with @ryttu3k and @robotslenderman yesterday.

I now know what happens when you put a few hundred passionate LotR geeks in a room together for twelve and a half hours.

Best moments included:

1. Cheering and clapping every time a meme moment happened.

2. A murmur went through the audience, followed by laughter, then cheering and clapping when Aragorn kicked the helmet.

3. Cheering after “And Rohan will answer.”

4. “I am no man!” *loudest cheering so far*

Possession (1981) and Nosferatu (1979) - I'll watch Isabelle Adjani in anything. Or Eva Green. Give me pale, deathless, insane women.

working myself up to starting chapter 4. this little snippet of conversation popped into my head in the shower and I figure I might as well indulge to re-flex my writing muscles.

'the cellar' refers to a character/set piece mentioned in the Nosferatu Clan book.

this also happens to make reference to @robotslenderman 's nos fic 'Radio Silence', though only canon WoD character's names are mentioned and it's not necessary that you read that story, this is just a fun reference.

"Well, it's New York," Charlie says with a small shrug. "Big city, bigger problems."

"We still have plenty of problems for being two smaller cities," Blue hums from across the room, eye still focused intently on whatever he was scrolling through on the monitor.

"Rafin's lucky the clan's still got any fucking trust in him. His childe is lucky to be alive from what I hear," Tweak says.

Charlie tilts her head. "What happened?"

"Buncha shit. Had to evacuate the NYC warren because SI found an in, she apparently broke into the fucking NSA to make sure the Breach was cauterized-"

"Fat lotta good it did in the end," Blue grumbles from his seat.

"I mean, we're still here," Charlie points out.

"Object lessons," Tweak shrugs. "Oh, and something about a Lasombra?"

Now Blue looks over for real, drawing back from the screen to look at them properly. "That's just a rumor."

"It's not."

"It is. I have never seen proof it's not."

"Well obviously, because it's not like they'd show up on camera or recording."

Blue sneers at Tweak and glances at Charlie. "Just know that even the best of us can get bad or misinterpreted information, 'kay?"

"Yes, I know what reddit is."

"Hey-" Tweak snips indignantly, but Blue is already smiling.

"When the troll gets trolled, it's time to leave."

"It's fucking true!" Tweak cries, throwing his arms out, looking between the two. When neither Charlie nor Blue seem to be biting, it's clear he makes a quick calculation in his mind, and decides the satisfaction will be worth the price of what must be some pretty interesting information. He crosses his arms and leans back against the desk.

"I got it from the Cellar."

Almost immediately, Blue's back is straightening and he's glaring at Tweak. "No you didn't."

"Yes, I did."

Blue stands up, abandoning his own work for the moment.

"You did not get the rumor that the DC Elysium has a literal shadow Prince who is a Lasombra from the fucking Cellar."

"The Cellar...like, someone selling this info?" Charlie asks, looking between the two of them.

Blue glances at her and makes a frustrated noise. "No, not 'seller', cellar, as in, another word for basement. It's this...network, as far as I know, because I refuse to believe it's just one fucking person, of Nos who gather really, really buried secrets, like, more than what we usually do. And Tweak wouldn't be engaging in either of those anyway, because he does not have fucking access to the Cellar."

Blue says the last part with an irritated pointedness. Tweak just smiles wide.

"You wish I didn't have access."

"Because you don't! No one does! The Cellar has to contact you!"

You ever think about Kindred that get too acclimated to their abilities, to the point it starts making things difficult in small ways? Like a Ravnos who forgets the heavily locked door to a room in their haven is just an illusion covering a normal one, or a Nosferatu that reflexively goes invisible at the slightest sound. Idk, it’s fun to think about how the things they rely on can be a bit of a problem.

Ooh, this is actually a mechanic! There's a set of derangements that are linked to excessive discipline use, including the Obfuscate one you mentioned!

Hmmm... oh this is hard to break down my fics into a top five XD

So in no particular order, here are my top five fave fics I've ever written, I've picked fics that are finished to make it easier for me to choose from, but again I really enjoy most of my fics so its hard for me to choose between all my babies XD

All she'll have is divinity and the void https://archiveofourown.org/works/41238993 This was my first fanfic for Devilman and one I'm still proud of too. The idea just got a hold of me for days before I finally wrote it, I've always feel that both the Devilman series and the fandom really have a bad habit of treating Miki like a holy saint rather than as a flawed human being and not really letting her be angry(honestly Miki being allowed to be angry is a theme in my devilman fics so far XDDD) and also I love exploring the affects of going through time loop after time loop would have on characters like Miki who has to relieve her death over and over again.

2. Better to wither away or be beckoned to war? https://archiveofourown.org/works/34106080/chapters/84849817 This was a emotionally rough fic for me to write but I'm proud of getting it done and I had fun exploring the idea that the beckoning and the withering were one in the same since they both have the same temporary cure, and also love writing LaCroix making even more awful choices out of desperation to keep his life before he realises he is wrong.

3. Hindsight is a Bitch https://archiveofourown.org/works/25990186 I just really got into the idea of Damsel looking back at her relationship with Nines and seeing all the messed up things he had done(in the fic's AU ofc) and again you can see most of my fave fic are fic where I do deep character and relationship studies XD

4. Drawn in by a Kuei-jin and a Prince https://archiveofourown.org/works/23437015 Ahh my first LaCroix/Nines/Ming Xiao fic the one I really wrote for myself XD I do really enjoy writing Nines' POV and his bite backs to LaCroix and Ming Xiao and ofc the femdomness of it all XD

5. Movie Night https://archiveofourown.org/works/22886368 and here's another LaCroix/Nines/Ming Xiao fic I wrote out of pure self-indulgence, sometimes its just nice to write fics where the characters are just having a nice movie night and just being cute together. :3

Phew that was hard to choose from and honestly in the future if I do this again and I write more fics I'm sure this top five will shift around XD
