#so my brother found a box full of documents#from when some semi-distant relative was researching family geneaology#and all my time reading old letters on the loc website came in handy#because it meant i could decipher the handwritten document#of my great-great-grandfather's life story#and read it for everyone as we hung out before family sunday dinner#and the pressure is now on for all the unmarried family members#we've got a legacy to live up to with courtship stories#it seems my great-great-grandfather came to america after a failed engagement#a few years later he met a girl and her parents outside of church#the father hired him to work on his farm#three days later the girl rode with him in a wagon somewhere on some farm business#and she was like 'i've been thinking about you day and night since i first saw you and this is our first chance to speak alone'#and she was like 'we should get married' and he agreed and they shook hands#though they did wait until the next sunday to formalize the engagement#they waited three months to ask for her father's blessing#which they got#they got married two months later#and were married for 35 years#until the morning of the day they were scheduled to take their first out-of-state trip#(he was excited to give her a chance to travel after a life of knowing only home and work)#and he woke up to find her dead beside him#he was writing this not long after and you can tell he was heartbroken#so the marriage was clearly successful#so anyway my one brother was like 'now i feel unsuccessful. i've never found a woman who wanted to marry me after three days'#and my married brother told all us unmarried ones that he expects us to be engaged by next week#clearly it can be done#and anyway it's so interesting to know the details#after only vaguely knowing this guy's name

Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure were such formative pieces of media for me when I was a kid. This is a really good piece about Big Adventure.

I truly don’t understand how people are just…normal about driving. Like. You are in control of a metal death machine, responsible for its movement as if it is an extension of yourself, but you just have to like know how far out from your own body it extends. You’re going 60 mph along with everyone else, they can’t be trusted to be any good at what they’re doing so you have to monitor and be aware of their movements. You’re having to pay attention to 360 degrees around you at all times via multiple mirrors while navigating other drivers, pedestrians, fucking BIKES, the road, know where you’re going and how to get there and turn at the right time and change lanes all while following a complex set of rules and not killing anyone or dying. Just…excuse me? You all just…do this? Every day ??? I feel like you’re all lying to me honestly. Like cool invention you got there but what the FUCK

Thinking ab my middle school special interest (one of many) which was roller coaster and water slide pov videos shdhdhdhdh like I would spend hours watching them and learning ab how fast they go, where they are, what their copys of
Like "Patriot" at Worlds of Fun is just "Raptor" from Cedar Point with a red white and blue color scheme and theme where as Raptor is green and black/purple with a raptor/beast theme. They're both owned by Cedar Fair. There's MANY clones in cedar fair parks and they will sometimes just remove an attraction from a park and move it to another, sometimes rebranding it.
Also sometimes they will just repaint an old ride and completely rebrand it by changing one thing. Like the Mantis ride was a stand up coaster at cedar point and it is now Rougaru (idk if that's the spelling) and I think they only changed the color (yellow to orange) and the seats bc it's no longer a standing one :( which I'm sad ab bc I wanted to ride it but was too scared to.
Oh! And the little tips ab the rides like Gemini (a duel track coaster where one track has a red car and the other is blue and you "race") and how the red one is usually the one that wins
And like when people point out stuff like "at the top of [coaster] if you look to the left right before the drop you can see [attraction/place]."
I really liked watching those before a trip to the waterpark or amusement park sgdgdg and then when I'd go on the rides I would know what would happen which was exciting like ahh here it comes!
Anyway agdgdgdg I just had a big memory of that and had to info dump ab it real quick 😅

sometimes im like wow jay u are so cool and mysterious but actually i just have a very funny upbringing, adhd, and a disproportionate amount of quirky anecdotes so whenever i casually mention something even my closest friends are like who the fuck are you. like obviously i am jay. the baby from the acid attack.

Yall wanna hear about smth? good im gonna rant in the tags anyway
#so :)) my favorite animal hands down is orcas#i happen to live on the east coast. aka like the ONE place in the world where orcas dont like to hang out in#my family has taken a few big vacations to maine over the years and we're going again this year#we also went to the very edge of Canada and this year we're gonna spend more time in Canada#also side note...... every time we've gone to maine we've gone on at least one whale watching trips to see humpbacks#and we have NEVER ONCE SEEN A HUMPBACK. weve seen a minke whale a basking shark a sun fish like 100 dolphins and a million seals#but no humpbacks 😭 but that's why we've been so many times they guarantee that you'll see them so we've only paid for tickets once#anyway. FUN FACT. there is ONE singular loner orca who regularly visits the new england area#his name is old thom :) he's approx 30 feet long :)#from what ive read it seems like he comes down here between may-november and hes seen almost every year#sometimes he hangs out with white sided dolphins which is really interesting bc orcas have been known to eat dolphins#and hes never been seen with another orca which is veryyyyyy uncommon#well. hes been seen in the EXACT. WATER. that we RODE A FERRY THROUGH to get from maine to Canada#he was seen near boston LIKE A MONTH??? before we were in Boston#his whole route is like. the exact waters ive been on or near multiple times.#AND WE'RE GOING BACK THIS YEAR.#I NEED TO SEE HIM!!!!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!!!! I WOULD SOB#so yeah. fun facts :) everyone send good vibes for me to see old thom in maine this year 😡#gotta go back to work now bye love yall
