Ok, hear me out

Everyone always talks about how future Mikey has hair and that he's a balding old man and blah blah blah. (love him tho, shout out to future mikey)

But have any of us considered that he may not have been the only brother to grow hair? May I propose to you:

Donnie.

Here's my proposal:

Donnie also grows hair, but he shaves his head all the time and no one can know.

He knicks his skin with the razor? Must've been a stray wound from a battle.

There's hair in his lab? I dunno man, it is getting to be spring. Mikey must be shedding.

This man will go through all the hoops to ensure his twin does not find out, because Leo would be relentless.

All those years drawing eyebrows, just for them to appear on his head. No, Donnie can't have that.

Then, for whatever reason, the brothers get separated for months. Donnie is soloing it through the apocalypse, he doesn't have time to shave. After all these years shaving, he doesn't even know how to take care of his hair.

Mikey and Leo think he's dead. They're mourning, trying to get by.

Then Donnie comes home, looking haggard and tired as hell.

Both brother look at him with equal amounts of shock, mid gasp.

Before breaking into the most hysterical of laughter because Donnie is home and he looks like that.

But that's just a head canon that I like to keep in my lil back pocket of mine.

No, he doesn't grow eyebrows, next question--

1. Donnie likes the concept and the idea of romance but doesn't like it when it happens to him-

2. Tiny Donnie used to bite stuff

4. Donnie somehow knows a lot of game lore

5. Donnie keeps all of Mikey's drawings

6. Donnie dislikes coffee- It makes him all jittery and stuff

7. Donnie drinks special energy tea for energy

8. Donnie sleeps at 2 AM and wakes up at 3 PM

9. Donnie's favorite brother is Mikey

10. Donnie is a plant guy

Writing rottmnt headcanons because I have a whole folder on my notes app and I need content to post (Pt 2: Donnie)

Donnie (he/him) demisexual pan

- often as a child he didn’t like to walk because sweat made him uncomfortable so when he got tired he curled up into a ball and squatted on the floor, and raph had to put him on his shoulders and keep walking

- Big fan of the Frozen soundtrack (would rather die then tell Leo)

- Snuck into a theatre with mikey and raph to watch the second frozen movie while Leo was on a date with usagi

- Musical gay - has a big phantom of the opera ( first time he saw it he sat on the chandelier and watched the musical and promptly screamed and hid when the chandelier sparked and fell - needless to say he loved it. )

- Had a doki doki phase

- Handed the others tissues when they watched bluey

- Enjoys cows

- Would often soak in their bathtub as a way of relaxing, often scaring his brothers walking into the bathroom thinking that he’d was in his room or lab

- Was taller than Leo for like 3 years and was severely disappointed when Leo shot up when he got puberty

- Once walked into a subway in a human disguise without his noise cancelling headphones. (He’ll never do that again)

- Makes clicking sounds when he’s working and stims with his hands and legs

- Got obsessed with space as a kid and wanted to study aliens (LMAO) not anymore

- Regularly sits in with April in her class

- Realised after a while that school was a huge bummer but still hangs out with April in school for emotional support

- Takes at least 15 min each morning doing his eyebrows

- After learning that April has a crane license, Donnie got one too (online somehow)

- Enjoys architecture and makes models of different buildings as a hobby

- Every once in a while he’ll go “obviously you don’t own an air fryer” as an insult

- He made mikey his own goggles (with some modifications ofc)

- Fluent in ASL

- Ate a hatsume miku cup noodle and almost vomited

- Once they played duck duck goose as a family and Leo tagged Donnie. He expected this, and immediately turned around and slammed his leg into Leo, tagging him out instantly and causing him to fall flat on his face

- Leo and Donnie did that one scene in Friends where they both wanted to sit in the same chair so Donnie took the pillows and in retaliation, Leo took all of his clothes and put it on

- When he gets annoyed he cruses in one’s and zeros cause then raph doesn’t know what he’s saying (Leo learned a bit so that he can curse back to don too)

- Rubs his eyes a lot when stressed or tired (bad habit)

- Sleeps with lots of blankets and kicks them off when he sleeps

- He can write with both hands

- Once actually sold Leo on carousell but Mikey found out and snitched

- “Lalalala” to Aprils “okokok” but they switch regularly, depends on the day really

- Like raph with meat, he doesn’t like to see blood in his meat

- He usually scratches around his shoulders when he uses his battle shell, so there’s scabs and little scars around his shoulder area

I’m a sucker for Good Dad Splinter ever since I watched TMNT ‘03. That rat was gifted sapience and his immediate instinct was kindness. I love that for him.

Rise Splinter lived a rollercoaster of a life, but as a Hollywood star he remembered the names of all his stunt guys and coworkers, and as a prisoner he cared for the rat that shared his cell. His sons are very close and physically affectionate, I think that says something about how he cares? That’s just how I like to headcanon him :)

It’s interesting to explore the idea that a seemingly monstrous transformation is what pushed him to be a kinder human

My brain literally would not let me rest until I got this out of my system, so here we are.

Okay, so - Future Donnie's canon design sure is a thing. I actually love the concept, mechanic aesthetic is great for Don, but I'm not crazy about the all-black waders/overalls they're just...they're a choice. Definitely a choice. So I figured it was time to update those old Future Donnie designs I made awhile back (which, surprisingly, weren't too far-off? I got the pants pockets right at least, lol)

Here are some of my own takes on the new look. I challenged myself to try and stay as close to the canon design's over-all (haha) vibe as I could, so they don't differ too drastically. Just a few alternative ways to do basically the same concept. For funsies.

***Zero disrespect intended towards Andy, for the record. He's giving us the content we've all been craving and he's the realest one for that! (Also, the overalls aren't that bad, tbh? I think it's just the all-black inking that makes them look kinda off in the preview image.) Still super excited for the full comic to finally be released AAAAAAAA!!

AU where Leo is trapped in the Prison Dimension for months instead of minutes and the only way he gets by with his sanity intact is through recording himself talking to his wrist comm.

When they finally manage to get Leo back and make him rest up to heal, Donnie can’t help but listen to the recordings left behind.

He’s not sure what exactly he’s expecting, only that his subconscious is screaming at him that it has to be heartbreaking, that it has to be torturous.

Instead, what Donnie is subject to is a full thousand hours’ worth of Jupiter Jim and Lou Jitsu crossover fanfiction. More than one part in the series. Spanning well over a million words.

(The worst part is that it’s actually good.)
