cannot stop thinking about how the beast from Beauty and the Beast was originally envisioned as a baboon. what a world we might have had
#this interpretation is so powerful. a faerie gets pissed and turns a prince into a baboon. what a narrative#i support her so much. implode the monarchy by transforming royalty into baboons and donkeys and zebras idgaf#guillotines are fun but sometimes you just wanna be quirky about it

Finally getting round to reading the Scarlet Pimpernel (free eBooks my beloved) and while I am really enjoying the story and everything is pretty easy to follow, the sheer royalist tones the book has is a lot
#i mean i knew that would be in here#given that pimpernel is a noble who rescued “innocent royals/rich people” from the guillotine during the reign of terror#and the book is set in england AND france#but its still a lot lol#its honestly nice so far#im managing two chapters a day which im really really proud of considering i cant remember the last time i read a book#well ok last one i read was beowulf but that wasn't too long (version i read anyway)#this book has like 29ish chapters? idr#its also worth noting the author herself was a baroness#and that her backstory involved her fleeing to england when she was 3 because the locals rebelled against her family and burnt down#the family home#which while im sure it was justified must have been terrifying for her#i cant lie either its interesting reading from this and seeing her perspective on things as much as i despise royalty i am very interested#in the whole system if that makes sense? its just fascinating to me#i think im gonna blame tlk for this one LMAO#but yeah good so far#also yeah im sure you guys know why im reading the book LMAO#if not well im sure you could probably guess 💀#to be fair the reign of terror was a pretty fucked up time so like i can see the need for pimpernel... somewhat#also fun fact for anyone interested but this book is actually what started the whole hero with a secret identity#and pimpernel is said to have inspired the likes of zorro and batman!#idk i just thought that was pretty cool

The Treaty of Miraculous Nature - Ch 31 Execution
The day after the rebellions struck, Gabriel sat in his prison cell, rotting in the dungeons beneath the castle. Wrought-iron chains clasped around his wrists, neck and ankles, making it so he could only move a meter. There were no windows to peer out.
The rats kept him company, feasting on the meals he refused to touch. Even when Gabriel had the world at his feet, with fresh cuisine prepared by the castle's chef, he ate very little. Now? He could barely consume a bite of the putrid food without so much as heaving it back up. He was sure the pigs received better slop than whatever 'food' he was given.
His back was against the wall both physically and metaphorically. He could feel the rigids of the stonework jutting out and piercing into his boney back, but he paid no mind. His only thoughts were of Emilie and his son.
Gabriel was grateful to have sent Adrien away before the traitors struck. He wondered where Adrien was and if he was safe. He hoped Adrien stayed away from Paris. He hoped he would never return home again. He couldn't bear to see him suffer.
Gabriel had no communication with the other prisoners. He was kept away from anyone else; alone to ponder his thoughts and live out his remaining days. He was uncertain of how many days he had left. What fate is awaiting him? He hoped for a swift death for he and Emilie if the rebels secured all of France for themselves. He could stand tall knowing in his heart that he had done all he could for his family. He was blinded by his good faith in others. And for this, this inability to save his kingdom, he understood why he was locked away in this musty prison cell. This punishment is just.
He was a fool.
The guards holding him in his cell did not speak to him; they laughed at his expense, would kick over his plate of food or gave him a small punch in 'honor of Vent Rouge'. Vent Rouge...that's what Tomoe had called herself. Tomoe may not have the ability of see with her eyes, but Gabriel had been blind to not foresee this quiet storm erupting.
There are few cruelties, but none so large as what the Tsurugis had done. Where did he go wrong? Were he and Emilie unaware of the dangers coming? Gabriel berated himself. His ancestors had been right, they should never have brought the Tsurugi's back into the fold. Once a backstabber, always a backstabber. It's in their blood. It cannot be helped no matter how many generations have passed.
Gabriel heard footsteps and a cane walking toward his cell. Out of the shadows and into the dimly lit area, Queen Tomoe slowly glided toward him. A patient, disciplined woman was she. She might have been a charlatan in another lifetime. She certainly deceived Gabriel.
Standing in front of his cell, Queen Tomoe asked the guard to unlock his cell door. The guard unlocked his prison door; the metal slowly creaking open with a loud grinding sound. As the cells were not used often, the doors reflected a negligence in their tune.
WIth mirth lacing Tomoe's tongue, she spoke freely, "Oh, how the mighty have fallen." A small quirk of her lips; satisfaction in its finest form.
He didn't want to give her the gratification. Instead, he smoothed his tone. "Forgive me, Tomoe, for not leaping for joy in your presence. I didn't expect you to grace me in my lowly cell." Gabriel mocked.
Tomoe clicked her tongue, holding her cane gracefully. Evenly, she said, "Yes, I'm full of surprises."
Gabriel gave a loud hum. His head hit the wall; he dared not look at her; the woman who took over his kingdom; tearing apart everything his family had built right under his nose. He could not grant the woman, who held contempt for a reason he would never understand, attention.
"Hmm. Perhaps I was not the only thing you misjudged." She provoked.

cw TKaTB spoilers, theory, mention of guillotine, amnesia memories spoilers
TKATB and its characters belong to @fantasia-kitt !!
TKATB IS RATED +18. MINORS DONT INTERACT
Was about to post a theory about how sol could have been reincarnated to meet pumpkin again in a different timeline bc they werent allowed to be together in their own timeline, the bruise on his neck being an indication of being guillotined AND him giving purple tullips (sign of royalty and elegance) to pumpkin on valentine's, feeling insecure about his lunch (saying it isnt "extravagant" enough for pumpkin) and somehow using pardon me instead of excuse me (he doesnt usually use this type of elegant language i think. could be just me) kinda seems like we were royalty before? I mean, crowe mentioning marie antoinette and the game giving us many options for the question seems sussy to me. Why does MY opinion on the queen matter this much to both crowe and sol since their love meters go crazy with the answers? speaking of historical figures, i cant be the only one thinking sol WAS the "executioner". maybe that could be it. he was "the executioner" and we were a part of the royalty: swimming in money, expensive alcohol and the sweat of the peasants; and sol being one of them. Maybe we didnt even know who he was but him being a delusional yandere, he thought we were inseperable lovers. maybe that was why he was drawing someone in peasant clothes. He was just drawing his past life, could be the day he first saw us or the day he lost us. anything to support my theory? what inspired the game, ofc :D i was stalking fantasia's socials when i saw the game was was inspired by 3 gamea, one being Amnesia Memories (IM A HUGE FAN OF THAT SHIT). if you didnt know, amnesia memories is about a girl waking up with lost memories, trying to remember things. but bc it is an otome, she has a partner in every world she wakes up in. so if she fails to recollect her memories, she ends up in a different universe with a different partner. the relevance between tkatb and amnesia? in amnesia the final LI can also switch between different universes. he loses the mc in a fire and cant live without her. So a god helps him go to a different universe to be with her again. But everytime he goes to a universe, the world either kills the mc or him somehow. Following with pumpkin being royalty and sol not being able to live with us, what if after our death; he went to a different universe where we are classmates (equal parties!!) and now the entire purpose of his existence being, well, being with us forever?
But yknow. I decided not to post it since pretty much everyone already thinks this way! its probably what fantasia WANTS us to think to bamboozle us in the end, right? :3
P.S. not to mention his hatred for the rich. the rich and their stupid rules were the things that stopped him from being with us! but what if hyugo ALSO has switched universes along with him for his own reasons? Could this be the deal between the two, and the reason why hyugo wont allow sol to just die like that?
#tkatb vn#tkatb sol#tkatb theory#the kid at the back vn#the kid at the back sol#solivan brugmansia#tkatb spoiler#amnesia#amnesia memories#i dont even know what i just rambled about lmao ignore my illiterate ass

Dew, motions for the phantom camera crew to zoom in close, whispering: "You wanna know how you can tell if you're a dom or not? Ride shotgun in the car with someone, and if you feel a little something something when they do that one arm behind the passenger seat thing while backing up, you're a sub." Swiss, overhearing: "I don't know if that's how it works!" Dew: "Says the passenger princess!" Swiss, calling back: "If you're gonna call me a princess, you're gonna have to start getting on your knees and bowing to me more often!" Dew, flipping him off: "Be careful what you wish for, I like the idea of beheading royalty!" Swiss, cupping his crotch: "You wouldn't dare-" Rain, walking by, shoving an icepack down his pants: "He gives head the way the guillotine gave it to King Louis, don't tempt him, mon ami." Swiss, screeching: -running away- Dew, watching him leave: "Heh... I haven't seen you all day, what happened to your dick?" Rain, taking the icepack out: "You know how if you lay on your arm it'll go numb and it doesn't feel like your own hand when you jack off?" Dew: "The stranger, yes?" Rain: "Trying the opposite." Dew: "...Like you're jacking off a stranger? Why?" Rain, shrugging: "Needed something to do." Dew: "...Ah."

Germa and French references
(Plus bonus Star Wars mention at the end)
Sanji's iron mask in the flashbacks immediately made me think of Dumas's works, but when I saw it I didn't think much about it. It's just like, "Oh I guess it's just part of the Sanji = French thing". Plus in one of the cover arts Sanji was drawn in a classic Musketeer outfit, so I thought it was just for fun.
But Twitter user Marudoro-san made this thread that pointed out a bunch of the same references I'd caught and said "Hey, maybe this is actually important to the plot later", and I think they have a point. So I figured I'd share what I'd already noticed, and I will highlight the input that I got from Marudoro-san in red here in this post.
Iron Mask
The man in the iron mask is a French prisoner whose identity is never truly known in history. In his novel, Alexandre Dumas invented a plot where the iron masked prisoner is the twin brother of King Louis XIV, and the plot involves the famous Musketeers from the previous novels in a conspiracy of switching the king for the twin brother.
At a glance, it might be just a literary Easter egg, but when I look at it again, I do start to have questions. Within the One Piece scenario context, this is unnecessary. In the Dumas novel, the mask seems to be needed to hide the prisoner's identity. But there's no need to hide Sanji's identity, and it's not to prevent him from shouting for help because he can still talk even with the mask. What is it for? Is it a clue that the Man in the Iron Mask novel is relevant to this story?
For one, the fact that the iron masked prisoner being the king's twin is noteworthy. Sanji is one of 4 quadruplets, but still. Marudoro said that maybe this is a sign that Sanji and Ichiji will have a confrontation later. This makes sense, because of the other Vinsmokes, the one most likely to represent a "king" would be Ichiji.
This is something I myself had considered before, that Ichiji specifically might later have a role as "Sanji's opposite". I don't know how yet, but the imagery and themes that I've seen so far seems to point that way.
Marudoro also points out that if you look into the Musketeer novels, Sanji has vibes similar to Aramis, who is described as something of a womaniser. Aramis happens to be the mastermind behind the twin conspiracy in the Iron Mask novel.
The correlation is vague, and it's hard to tell how is this going to be relevant, besides maybe "there might be other French history/literature references in Germa's storyline".
Les Misérables, Revolution, the French Royalty
The only two Germa servants who actually has proper names, head chef Cosette and Sora's personal servant Eponi, seem to be references to the Les Misérables characters Cosette and Eponine. Part of the narrative of Les Mis is the June Rebellion, an uprising of the anti-monarchists.
In the Soul Pocus song that serves as the outro of the WCI arc, the "lyrics" specifically has the exact word "guillotine". For many people, guillotine is very closely linked to the image of the French Revolution and the execution of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.
Speaking of guillotine... Yonji's attack, translated as "Winch Guillotine" in the official translation, is actually called "Winch Danton" in the raw. This is possibly a reference to Georges Danton, and important figure of French Revolution, who is curiously executed by guillotine.
Sensei clearly knows the word guillotine, so why not just flat out call it "Winch Guillotine" like the translation?
For whatever it's worth, Danton was someone who was executed for opposing the new government after the first revolution. The revolutionaries got so bad that it was called the "Reign of Terror", so Danton turned against them and was trying to oppose this cruelty.
Yonji is rather visibly the least "bad" of the brothers and his reactions are almost like a "normal person" in a lot of ways, so maybe this is significant?
Marudoro-san said that the Nyasha/cat carriage the Vinsmokes were riding when they were about to meet Big Mum was incredibly similar to the funerary carriage of King Louis XVIII. While there are some differences, they do have a point.
Again, it's still unclear about what significance all of this stuff will have. Maybe the imagery of "revolution" and "King's funeral" indicate that Germa will be undergoing a lot of changes. Something that's beyond just the formation of Neo MADS.
The Knights Hospitaller... and Napoleon?
Marudoro-san says there's an interesting parallel between Germa and the Knights Hospitaller. This is a chivalric order that has privileges that puts them equal to a sovereign power. They have minimal land holdings, but has the standing almost on par with that of a nation. It's like the landless Germa, who is still recognised as a kingdom by WG up until their privileges were taken away after the mess in WCI.
The Knights has lost a lot of its power and territories in Europe through history, and finally, its headquarters in Malta was sacked by Napoleon. Marudoro-san highlighted that Big Mum's hat and sword was called Napoleon.
Marudoro-san took this analysis elsewhere, but for my part, I'm wondering if Germa almost being destroyed at WCI is a parallel of this attack of the Knights in Malta, with Big Mum being the parallel to Napoleon.
The possible proof of the Napoleon parallel is Law. Law was heavily instrumental in Big Mum's defeat in Wano, and his name are connected to events related to Napoleon's downfall.
Napoleon suffered a major defeat at the Battle of Trafalgar, and the man who was his jailer to the point of his death was a surgeon's son named Hudson Lowe. Law and Lowe looks different in English, but in Japanese both are spelled the same: ロー.
[Edit: Napoleon was also famously defeated in the Battle of Waterloo. In Japanese, Waterloo is spelled like this: ワーテルロー. It contains the same "ロー" as in Law's name.]
Marudoro-san said that Napoleon's invasion of Malta involved tricking the Knights to letting him dock under false pretences. I don't know how true this is, but at the very least this is a narrative that is accessible to the Japanese. One could argue that this is parallel to the conspiracy in Whole Cake.
If this parallel is really correct, then, this could be a hint of "Good Germa".
The Knights Hospitaller surrendered and survived that Napoleon encounter, with its status being even more diminished. Eventually it restructured as the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which still has its sovereign authorities (Wikipedia says they can even issue passports and currency), but is now an organisation whose activities are focused on charity.
Bonus: The Jedi and Clone Wars?? (Star Wars)
Marudoro-san also mentioned that the 66 of Germa reminds them of Order 66 from Star Wars, which ended the Jedi order and enabled the Sith to rise to power.
I only understand Star Wars very minimally myself, but a fan I talked to on Twitter confirmed to me that they think so as well. Especially because there's the specific focus on Germa soldiers being clones, and it's reminiscent of the whole clone plotline in Star Wars.
Order 66 ended the Jedi. The 66 of Germa is in reference to the destruction of the old Germa Empire.
If this parallel is true, then this might confirm the theory that "Germa is not actually evil before". If we read that the "Sith" is World Government, and the old Germa is "Jedi", then maybe it's hinting that all the story about them being evil in the past is a lie? They may be awful now because Judge is so driven by revenge, but maybe they were actually not evil before.

“Throne” — an Even Joined Walls Fall Down Trailer
(In animatic script form)
Behold, I have used the powers of being Rora’s beta reader/co-conspirator/playlist-maker/back-up brain for good evil the promotion of her work!
Song for this trailer is “Throne” by Rival and Neoni. I completely skip over the first bridge and chorus, so keep that in mind.
Warning: Rora-Approved spoilers below! Proceed with caution!
For the first 23 seconds, the music audio is dampened, and the focus of the sound and visuals are on Tango and Jimmy in their apartment. Tango is sitting opposite of Jimmy at the table; Jimmy has his tablet open and is painting on it.
“Y’ever thought about getting married?”
“If you asked, I wouldn’t say no. But I haven’t thought much about it.”
“Well … think about it. Because if I’m gonna ask, I want to make sure it’s what you really want.”
“So you wanna go to war with me” plays in full volume, showing quick cuts of Tango suiting up in his hideout, ice crusting his fingers and changing his appearance from Tango-blond to Deepfrost-blue. His hand raises up with ice generating at the fingertips, dominating the camera before blasting the lens—
—Cutting to a massive bipedal rust-furred wolf, marching out of a wooded park and howling as “You're talking like you think you're royalty” plays. Its claws slash towards the camera, forcing another cut.
The scene shows a brightly-lit training room, choked with ice and snow. A visibly-younger Deepfrost is shown, teeth bared and furious at an equally-furious Joel, green lightning gathered around him as “You think that I'm afraid/But I don't break” plays, immediately cutting to a dark underground room, showing an older Deepfrost speaking to Arctic Fox.
“Why would someone snap and go berserk?” is asked by Deepfrost, with Fox answering “You did” as “I heard you question my stability” plays. A furious expression crosses Deepfrost’s face at this obvious parroting of the lies that followed his expulsion from the division.
“You think I’ll fall just like a guillotine” plays as the scene changes to the interior of the Poison Dart bar; the crowded and rowdy patrons pulling away and trying to avoid notice as Impulse strides inside and heads straight to the bar, not pausing in his steps, fully expecting everyone to get out of his way and being completely correct.
“But I am here to stay/Won't look away” plays as Sheriff leaps over gaps in buildings in pursuit of Deepfrost: a continuation of their cat-and-mouse game.
The scene cuts to the middle of the night as Deepfrost whirls around outside the arcade hideout, yelping and darting away as the wolf-monster lunges for him offscreen. “So you wanna be my enemy” plays as the lunge just barely misses.
The scene jumps to a park in early evening, with Tango and Jimmy sitting on a picnic blanket directly in front of each other. Tango shifts so he’s on one knee and opening a ring box to Jimmy as “You should have known l'd never kiss the ring” plays. The scene abruptly jumps forward — same location, but a few seconds later — showing Tango hastily disguising himself before icing over, as “Ice runs in my veins” plays —
And then jumps to a dark building, not abandoned but clearly filled with hostiles, hinted at by the cautious approach of Sheriff through its halls as “Won't play it safe” plays.
“I don't belong with your nobility” plays on a zoomed-in shot of two glasses being clinked together — a cocktail glass being held by a man’s hand in a black fingerless motorcycle glove, and a glass filled with red wine held by a woman’s well-manicured hand.
The camera pulls back to show the drinkers sitting opposite of each other on couches, a coffee table between them and both Impulse and False Symmetry completely relaxed and comfortable in the other’s presence. “What can you tell me about the Red King?” Impulse asks the Queen of Hearts as “Who died and made you king of anything?” plays.
“You think that I'm insane/That's your mistake” plays as the camera snaps back to Deepfrost and Arctic Fox. Fox’s eye glows red as Deepfrost angrily replies “You were there that day. You know damn well that’s not how it went.”
“Kingdoms rise and fall, I've come to take it all/I'll take it, I've come to take it” plays over a montage of division heroes — HoTGuY, CuTeGuY, Arctic Fox, and Sheriff — suiting up and being lined up together, quickly followed by “Kingdoms rise and fall, I've come to take it all/I'll take it all” as the Soup Group mobilizes: GeminiSlay and Blood Moon dropping down from a building from grapples and heading to Slay’s bike, before cutting to Impulse, taking a stance with fire in his hands and staring down an offscreen opponent.
“The storm is coming/So you best start running” plays as Deepfrost is shown frantically skating through tight alleyways and around sharp turns, clearly alarmed and afraid. “No, you can't control, feel it in my bones” plays as the camera jumps back to Arctic Fox with Deepfrost. Fox is frowning behind his mask, and he speaks:
“There might be something to that.” “To what?” “Doc isn’t the only villain that uses chemistry to get what he wants,” is spoken as “I'm coming for the, coming for the—“ plays.
Ten seconds of musical buildup plays, with the camera quickly cutting between split-second scenes:
Tango and Jimmy kissing in the park, with Jimmy wearing a ring on his left hand —
— a young Stephen Violett, smirking as he pulls the light in a dim room to his right hand, facing a wide-eyed man in a black bandana his age as his own eyes glow yellow —
— a young Deepfrost on a rooftop, standing opposite of Poultry Man, the latter much more relaxed than the former —
— Sheriff catching the arms of the wolf monster as he attempts to swipe at him —
— and the flashes stop on Deepfrost, eyes and chest glowing as a Sonic Shriek erupts from him towards an offscreen-opponent.
Right where the drop would be, the music stops completely, and the screen goes black. A voice never heard before asks suspiciously “Who are you, and what do you want?”
The camera now shows a man in an immaculate black and white suit, with a red tie and silver cufflinks. The thick black mustache on his face is a dead giveaway.
“You can call me Mumbo Jumbo” is said, immediately followed by the final line: “I'm coming for the throne.”
Smash to black, only broken by the title written in silver letters: Even Joined Walls Fall Down

Friends, enemies, comrades, Jacobins, Monarchist, Bonapartists, gather round. We have an important announcement:
The continent is beset with war. A tenacious general from Corsica has ignited conflict from Madrid to Moscow and made ancient dynasties tremble. Depending on your particular political leanings, this is either the triumph of a great man out of the chaos of The Terror, a betrayal of the values of the French Revolution, or the rule of the greatest upstart tyrant since Caesar.
But, our grand tournament is here to ask the most important question: Now that the flower of European nobility is arrayed on the battlefield in the sexiest uniforms that European history has yet produced (or indeed, may ever produce), who is the most fuckable?
In the spirit of democracy, we are asking you to nominate your personal favorites to be included in this contest:
Some house rules to consider:
While the individual does not have to be directly involved in the wars, they must have been alive during the wars. So, no one who died by guillotine before the Napoleonic period started (no matter how sexy stabbing Marat was.)
Their attractiveness will also be judged based on the age that they were during the Napoleonic period (a certain short lived King of Rome who has been making the rounds in the royalty brackets is ineligible on account of being a baby during his father's wars.)
For the nominations, you can consider sexyman to be a gender neutral terms. However, if there are enough people submitted, the admins may elect for two brackets instead of one.
Fictional characters are allowed, but with the caveat that the fiction they are from must directly deal with the wars and not just be set during the same period. In short: Pride and Prejudice no, War and Peace yes. We are sure "most fuckable Regency era literary figure" could be a bracket on its own (and if it has not been made yet, why not?)
Keep in mind that this tournament will be judging attractiveness, not politics.
Propaganda is not required in your submissions. But, submitting any propaganda will improve your favorite's chances.
You can submit as many people as you want. The form does not have a limit.
Your submissions are greatly appreciated as we embark on this sexyman journey together.

in honor of my one year ✨blogiversary✨ if you will, as well as, consequently, one year of my beloved lil royals au, here's a little (read: accidentally a smidge long) something something with our favorite prince and guard :> feel free to read the rest of the royals au here <3
Roier doesn't understand the idea of traditions.
Well, he does, to an extent, but the fact of the matter is that he, truthfully, doesn't care about traditions.
He doesn't care for anything about the life of royalty, really, and would much rather run away with his beloved to live in a cozy cabin outside of the kingdom, getting eloped to an audience of no one but themselves and whoever's ordained to marry them, but alas, he can't get everything he wants.
No, he'll just break the rules set tradition instead.
Tradition says Roier isn't supposed to see Cellbit the night before their wedding, and his parents stationed two guards outside his room to make sure he doesn't leave.
Roier laughs at the fact they forget he always escapes through his window, anyway, and the fact they thought he could be left devoid of quality time with his beloved.
Besides, tradition says he's supposed to marry another member of the actual royal class, and, well, he let that concept go months ago.
(Apparently, guards don't count. Apparently, Cellbit especially doesn't count. Oh, well.)
(If his parents could marry who they loved, so can he.)
He knows where he's going. They set a meeting spot hours ago. Their spot. He'll miss being able to do this so much when he's king - when they're kings - but at least he won't have to go sneaking out to spend time with his husband.
(Husband. Husband.)
(His heart races at the prospect, warmth igniting his veins. Husband.)
So, this is what it feels like to be lucky.
...
Cellbit has heard the townspeople talk.
He's overheard it from the townspeople, hell, he's even overheard it from some of the guards themselves.
He's not supposed to be on the throne. He's supposed to be beside it. Guards aren't supposed to become proper royalty, let alone a king. That isn't tradition. Guards aren't supposed to marry their princes. That isn't tradition.
The personal guard has heard the words tradition and unusual and improper so many times that they're starting to not sound like real words anymore.
And it makes him worry a little, admittedly.
(Not for himself. Never for himself.)
(It's Roier he's worried about.)
Cellbit knows he got lucky becoming a guard in this kingdom, let alone Roier's personal guard. It certainly wasn't his unknown background that got him these positions, it was purely dependent on skill.
(If they knew who he truly was, he'd have been marched to the guillotine months ago. He wouldn't be here.)
Cellbit knows traditions. And he's fairly certain he doesn't fit a single one of them. By marrying Roier, marrying into a family that's always been so keen at upholding traditions, he knows the prince's image is at stake.
(Roier might not care about it, but Cellbit does.)
(He might not be a guard for much longer, but he always will be at heart. He swore to protect the prince with his life, and he will fulfill that to his last breath.)
He wonders if Roier made the right decision, abandoning his arranged marriage and choosing him, instead. Emotionally-speaking, certainly, but logistically...
Tradition getting thrown to the wayside typically doesn't bode well. The embodiment of everything tradition isn't taking its place? Well...
Cellbit holds onto the fact that Roier chose him anyway, throwing care to the wind and rekindling the dying embers because he loves just that intensely, and trusts that everything will be okay.
They will be okay.
(Even if the townspeople don't like him after this marriage, it doesn't matter. Roier likes him. Roier loves him, enough to drop it all in a heartbeat just for him. Just so they can be together. How?)
(He has the whole world right beside him; he doesn't need anything else. How can someone love so much?)
The storm of thoughts assailing his mind are brought to a grinding halt by a hand grasping his arm. Startled, he turns, but the surprise melts into a fluttery excitement when the moonlight illuminates his prince's presence, and he can't control the way his heart starts to hammer against his chest.
(Beautiful. Ethereal.)
(He wonders how he used to be so stoic around Roier, used to go to sleep without seeing soft brown eyes and a saccharine smile and--)
You're staring, gatinho.
Roier's laugh draws heat up the back of his neck, and he fumbles for a response that won't make him look stupid. Is staring at beautiful art suddenly a crime, guapito?
The prince shakes his head fondly, reorientating himself so he can cradle Cellbit's face in both of his hands. Ya, mi amor. Come here.
He pulls his face closer, pressing their lips together, and he feels gloved hands on his waist close any remaining space between their bodies by pulling him flush against the guard's chest.
(It's almost disorientating, feeling like they could burst. Feeling like the flames could burn them from the inside out.)
(It's addictive. It's love. How could they have come so close to giving this up?)
They only pull apart when oxygen demands it, and even then, Roier chases him for another brief kiss before taking a real moment to breathe.
Their foreheads press together, breathing in each other, the serenity that comes with their nights under the moon. And then, the prince is smiling again, a knowing curve of his lips. Mañana, eh?
It's Cellbit's turn to smile, holding him a little tighter at the words. Amanhã, meu príncipe.
(Everything changes tomorrow.)
(Tradition is useless, anyway.)

let me tell you guys something funny i noticed!
arthur conan doyle, author of sherlock holmes, hated that mf. he despised sherlock very much, unfortunately for him, holmes was his most famous work, everyone loved that bastard, even the queen did. for pettiest reason, after some time, arthur said “fuck that bitch” and killed sherlock. he tried to move on with his life after that, but the country, the fans, royalty, even his fucking mom revolted, turning into an angry mob demanding for their charming detective back! and guess what? he complied begrudgingly to their commands, his head was nearly on the guillotine, he had no choice, whatsoever. his mom probably threatened to disown him or maybe never again make his favorites biscuits.
now to the real point, i think it’s funny how history repeats itself, gege akutami being this generation’s arthur doyle is so funny to me. we have G.R.R.M who also has a tendency to kill his characters like stepping on ants, but for some reason we are fine with that (mostly, yet we don’t blame him).
the thing if, if gege really hates gojo, can you imagine the despair he must be feeling to finally kill gojo only to have many people having mental breakdowns, declaring their love for gojo, creating memes saying “when i catch gege is on sight”? is so funny to me for some reason to be living this at the moment (even if i’m one of the ones having breakdowns).
anyways, hope we riot enough and let’s bring gege’s parents into the equation, i want his mom talking about how gojo was the cutest thing ever and having gege bringing him back because he complies to his mama. amen.

Been getting into the Onibi series lore. I've thought about Beheading Dance a lot recently, and to me it's about class! :D Cue a slightly unhinged ramble, I hope someone finds this analysis entertaining at least.
(Mentions of gore, suicidal ideation and human trafficking)
The Danse Macabre is a very European reference and I don't know if Masa evoked it intentionally, but it surely comes to my mind. It's about imagery of dead people of different classes, all dancing together with skeletons. The meaning is that no matter your social standing in life or your earthly posessions, death comes for everybody, and everybody is equal in death.
In her life before the curse, Mai was sheltered by her family's monopoly of wealth and power. Now she walks through the town she destroyed, seeing the dancing ghosts of the human suffering that took place in it. Headless peasants, starving children, trafficked women. Victims of her family's cruelty, wealth hoarding and disregard for human life.
A faceless woman in a discolored kimono is mentioned watching the fireworks. The woman could be the victim of the first Beheading Dance that was performed to entertain Ryo's guests. The lyrics warn against disrespecting her grave, or the graves of the peasants. In their lives these people had no power. But in death, disrespecting them would have horrible consequences.
Another European historical reference that the song harkens to me is Marie Antoinette's death. As part of the French revolution, she was executed by guillotine, in front of a cheering crowd of the people she used to rule over. Mai as a character has a lot of parallels with her. The method of death by beheading for starters. Also her not really actively contributing to the cruelty of her regime (Mai before her curse, anyway), but unwittingly benefitting from it.
These next couple of points might be reaching a bit, but I still find them interesting. The wealth and extreme consumption of the French royalty was widely publicized, and the starving masses were furious at it. Marie Antoinette was kind of a scapegoat for it, and her with her luxurious taste was seen as the image of overconsumption. This makes an interesting parallel with Mai literally consuming the people of her town. The public's rumors about Marie Antoinette's sexual life were also fuel for the fire of the revolution, and though most of the accusations were very likely fabricated, one of them was that she had affairs with women. This kinda parallels Shikyou's rage at Mai and Akari meeting and getting married, and killing her for it.
Shikyou follows the dance, likely in vindictive glee. The Shishikusa family rejected all gods and clamored for earthly power by any means necessary. Now their heir is forced to confront all the suffering they caused. The evil that she was complacent in, and that she herself brought to a bloody end. Mai doesn't resist Shikyou beheading her. In the lyrics, she says she seeks her own place in the dance and death. She couldn't keep on living as the heir of her family's cruelty, or the monster who put the end to it. In her dying moment, she dreams of the happy life her and Akari couldn't have together. Then she joins the rest of the dancing dead, as their equal.

since you wanted asks, what Taylor Swift song would you adapt into a movie/series if you could choose one? And what would that movie look like?
Oh interesting question! Thank you so much Nonnie 🥺❤️
Okay, I won't say "ivy" because I don't think it could be a long movie or a series despite the fact it's my favorite song, so I will say "Timeless". IT WOULD MAKE SUCH A GOOD SERIES ABOUT A COUPLE WHO KEEP MEETING AND FATE DIVIDES. You have the potential to make soulmates finding each other in every life. Like I can picture different eras. The series introduces the main couple walking in the streets of London, and they stop by an antique shop, and the woman finds pictures of a couple in another lifetime, and she starts imagining what their life could have been across various eras.
Ancient Rome
Middle Age, the woman is forced to marry another man
The French Revolution, they are royalty having an affair and they are both guillotined.
The 30s, before World War II and then you follow them going through the war. The man die during the war.
The 60/70s
And then it ends with the 2020s. The man finds the woman staring at the pictures and he asks if she founds anything nice, she says "No", but then when they go home, she starts an album with all their pictures and it ends with her writing their names on a cardboard box full of pictures of them.
And the main colors for the aesthetic would be golden and white, and the costumes would be so rich! That's all I've got in my mind right now 😂 But yeah, that would be the love story of two soulmates who ends up living their full live nowdays.
