The Fourth Cat

Role: Sun Troop Missionary (high ranking member/deputy) (official title)

Darktail: has the power to walk in the memories of others. Transfer his own or to delibrately summon them. He can't go in depth like Jayfeather can but can evoke a cat's most traumatising memories to incapacitate them or share his own memories to get information

He is trained by Sol to be his second in command after sensing a 'difference' in the kit. Although careful to protect his own mind he uses this to drip-feed knowledge to his apprentice.

His mother Ruby had faced a lot of rejection in her life. First by the owners who adopted her and her brother Socks. Then by BloodClan's leader when they asked him for sanctuary. Then by Onewhisker, the cat who promised to be her mate. After her death her son Darkkit joins BloodClan, (a morally grey gang of rogues who want to protect themselves from the clans) and is renamed Darktail (BloodClan cats have similar names to clan warriors given to them when apprenticed-aged)

He learns about the clan's way of life through the fragments of memories from his mother and by other BloodClan cats. When he is an apprentice Sol and the Sun Troop spend some time with BloodClan. He learns that Sol was once medicine cat of SkyClan. Sol seeing potiential in the young cat trains him. Upon learning to stregnthen his power Darktail can transfer memories of other cats directly to Sol, allowing him to learn more about the cultures of other groups of cats and their ancestors. He leaves BloodClan to join Sol's group permently.

He stays in ShadowClan with Sol where by walking in the memories of ShadowClan cats memories the Sun Troop learn that the clan feels betrayed by StarClan. The Sun Troop use this to persuade Blackstar to turn his back on his ancestors. Upon realising that his father is the leader if WindClan he is enthuastic to assist Sol in invading WindClan's territory and the MoonStone. He helps cause divisions in WindClan by revealing himself as the illegimate son of Onestar. When the Sun Troop attacks WindClan, Darktail terrorises Onestar before his death through showing Onestar his own memories of being abandoned, revealing the true extent of his anger.

Upon killing his father he jumps into the memories of the nearest cat who tries to protect their leader. Crowfeather.

First thing he sees is Feathertail leaping into a horde of rats during a battle in a gorge. Then to her funeral with Echosong and Leafstar. This is the SkyClan that Sol had refused to tell him much about. Upon securing the Moonstone territory for his leader Darktail and a smaller group dissapears to take down SkyClan. Unable to fully destroy the clan without the support of the Sun Troop he resorts to influencing the clan's younger cats and eventually kitten stealing. Kidnapping Hawkwing's kits and tricking them into believing they are his own.

This may have contributed to Sol's downfall. He knew that Darktail had a power few other cats had but did not realise he was the fourth cat of the "kin of your kin" prophcey about Firestar he learns about from Midnight. Darktail only learns about Sol's defeat when his powers disappear.

How would the shards of chaos interact with other power-infused gems? (Chaos emeralds, Sol emeralds, Warp topaz, etc.)

Also, what do they do? Are they like a ripoff Chaos emerald type deal (super form, chaos control, etc.), or something different?

Essentially the most important part to remember about the shards of chaos is that while the chaos emeralds are positive, the shards are negative. But they do work differently in certain ways because of this. (Gonna answer the questions in reverse.) It isn't exactly known the one purpose of the shards' existence (not just because I didn't know, for real this time XD) but they do carry a dangerous amount of negative power/energy. They sort of have minds of their own (a hivemind, if you will....wink wink) and can use their power to corrupt a host/user for their usage (but WHO they can corrupt is pretty specific, as said host needs to have an established connection to them.) All they really want is chaos and destruction by instinct. Through a user, they are capable of teleportation, which I guess you could say is like chaos control, yeah. They don't grant a super form when all seven are used, but rather, something else in which full corruption and control is gained by the shards over the user (think Terios' Doom Form.) Doleon, the first one to gain that connection to all seven, is able to do multiple strange things with their power too, as he has already been corrupted for centuries. The more the host is corrupted, the more power they are able to use.

As for how they would interact with the other gems? I'd say...

Chaos Emeralds ≈ Shards of Chaos. They seemingly have the same INSANE amount of power, just with opposing energies. the idea for the shards actually did come from a weird "what if the chaos emeralds, but evil" concept I had thought about once XD)

The Sol Emeralds are essentially the Sol dimension counterpart to the Chaos Emeralds, so I don't think the interaction would be much different.

Warp Topaz < Shards of Chaos. The Shards can't necessarily undo or stop its effects or anything, but they do hold more power. On the Sonic wiki, it says that "The Warp Topaz does not seem to tolerate anything that is more powerful than it, such as the seven Chaos Emeralds. If subjected to such power sources, it will begin to absorb their energy and spin out of control. Such power has been proven to cause a powerful explosion and even cause a rift that sends users to different dimensions." So I'd think the same would apply with the shards, but since the energy types are so different, I actually don't know whether or not the results would be different?

Phantom Ruby ??? Shards of Chaos. Both strange gems with strange energies with the full capabilities unknown. All I can say about this one is that a battle between the two users would be cool as hell.
