So cool of you to try to publicly shame someone who is themselves obese for not being sure if they agree with calling the term "obese" a slur. Great look. Definitely makes me agree with you. If this was a personal blog I'd be like "yeah you know what that's on me" but you literally are purporting to be a blog trying to shed light on fatphobia and that is, by its nature, going to involve an amount of education, unless you're just in it to yell at people. :)

Your tags were specifically screenshot without your url for a reason.

If you were that concerned, you could have deleted your reblog with your tags. Because your url was not shown, deleting your reblog would have deleted any trace back to you.

You revealed you are the person who wrote those tags by sending this ask.

Your tags were extremely rude, taking a post about the tragic death of a fat woman due to fatphobia and using that as a chance to claim it's "childish" to consider the incredibly harmful term "ob*se" a slur. I gave you more courtesy than you deserved by leaving out your url.

The mods of this blog have explained why the word "ob*se" is a slur over and over and over again. Just a couple of weeks ago, we were dealing with a bunch of people just like you who were making fun of the idea of "ob*se" being a slur despite the fact that it completely meets the qualifications to be considered a slur. You even mentioned yourself that the word is harmful, and yet you still called it "childish" to not accept the usage of that bigoted term.

You're even still now using that term in your ask despite my explanation to you of how that term causes the abuse and deaths of fat people around the world.

This blog receives harassment all the time. Fatphobes love to harass fat liberation blogs, including this one. Because of that, I have no tolerance for your types of comments anymore. If someone writes a reply, reblog, or tag trying to dismiss fatphobia or literally call fat activism "childish," I don't really give those people the benefit of the doubt at this point. It's kind of hard to after hearing for years from fatphobic trolls about how fat people apparently should just die, how we're a blight on the human population, and how we're subhuman and deserve the extreme abuse we receive.

Yes, this does involve an amount of education—education that we have already clearly given. I shouldn't have to link to an explanation of why the word "ob*se" is a slur for every post the mods here write just because people like you will scoff at the "audacity" of us deeming a "medical term" a slur. If you thought it was so childish, you could have easily looked at this blog for posts about the term or even just searched Google about this topic. But you didn't care. You just wanted a chance to use your internalized fatphobia as an excuse to downplay a post you pretended to support.

I have no desire to talk to you any longer and suggest you stop interacting with this blog further. I am not going to put up with any other ridiculous rhetoric, not even by a fellow "ob*se" person.

music recs uuuuh lessee

nerdy folk/filk: Vixy and Tony, any album really. their newest "We Are Who We Are" is their best imo, but I have a particular soft spot for some of the tracks on "Thirteen" (specifically the title track, Mal's Song, and Companion).

SJ Tucker, also most albums, she's a little more fae-leaning in topic, and her album Mischief is my favorite.

folk/indie/rock/idek: The Amazing Devil, their album ruin. All their albums are great, The Horror and the Wild and Love Run are both wonderful, but ruin is just blast your butt off amazing

Juniper Vale, Everything is Color. Juniper Vale is just... really pretty music idk man. The singer's voice is so pretty. Slightly poppier sound but then they're pure folk when they go full acoustic, so I think it goes here.

indie rock: James Marriot. He's only got like one EP out, Bitter Tongues, but it's worth it, and his singles are also great. He started putting out music during the pandemic and he's relatively popular in certain online circles but like, the music's actually REALLY good.

Lovejoy, EP Wake Up & It's Over has already been recced and at this point even if they're new and not yet SUPER well known they're not obscure by any means, but I'm seconding it. it just goes so fucking hard.

Wilbur Soot, Your City Gave Me Asthma. Wilbur Soot is the online... persona? stage name? of Lovejoy's frontman Will Gold, and this was one of his solo projects before Lovejoy's creation. It's quiet, mostly just one guitar and sometimes a drum, and it's a melancholy depressing sort of album, but it's great for like sitting with your headphones on staring out the window at the rain, if you know what I mean.

Sub-Radio, EP Past Selves. If you've seen that "Stacey's Dad" tiktok go around? That's Sub-Radio. They're queer (or at least the frontman is) and they're just so uplifting musically. Even when the lyrics are a little less happy, I'm constantly filled with joy listening to their music. Highly recommend.

I really want to do my end of year sappiness post right now so I am going to do it. This year. This year, this year was the year that the fact that I made it is something I have to talk about it, because honestly I wasn’t sure between everything. And in the trauma (the activated Jewish Trauma Genre), in the hate I have also found love. Am Yisrael Chai. We live. I live.

Which is why I have to first send my love to my Jewish Mutuals/Friends and to Jumblr - @cephalopodvictorious @captainlordauditor and just, every one of my Jewish Mutuals and people who have sent kind words. Who have made me, a patrilineal mizrahi jewish woman reconnecting with her heritage and faith because of abuse feel Jewish enough to go to Synagogue.

This year was, despite everything the year I reconnected with old friends (shout to my friends in physical space - E, R, C and C), I took an art class, I swam more, I wrote a bunch of words, I found my love of art again and discovered that I might, might be good at it, I even asked for things like gifts even though it’s Terrifying.

Writing Game: Last Lines

I feel like I can see some patterns here, but they're mostly things I already knew -- my tendency to use present tense for fic based on games, and second person for fic about video game protags specifically. I am not sure I could explain why sometimes my dialogue is marked by italics rather than in quotation marks.
