homestuck was so perfect for autistic teenagers bc it took characters being sorted into categories and having Attributes to its absolute extreme. forget four hogwarts houses, every character has their associated colour their zodiac sign their associated animal their dream planet their god tier class and aspect their typing quirk their pesterchum handle their weapon their planet of x and y, as well as each of them having a handful of other very quantifiable Personality Traits and Interests (e.g. this one is a clown this one is angry this one likes fashion this one is just rufio from hook for some reason) and THEN they all also have their respective ancestors and dancestors(?)(plucked that word from my memory) who have all of those things as WELL

and god not to mention the fucking quadrant system

Ok, so, i rewatched ouat (yes, again.) And came to the conclusion that a spin-off about Neverland would have been more "useful" than the Wonderland's one, and i'm not saying this cause i think that the Neverland arc was better, I do but that's not the point but because I think that there are so many things that were left undone or without a good explanation.

These are some:

Apart from the fact that she disappeared after a while, one thing that i never understood was her "relationship" i don't wanna to call it like that but ok with Peter Pan; Is told that Peter Pan trusts her but we never see them interact and we are not even told how she gained such trust.

• Felix knew about Rumple

we know that Felix knew that Rumple was Pan's son, this mean that he also knew about Malcolm? Right? Right. So my questions are: why did they never talked about it before? Why did Pan told Felix about Rumple? What would he gain by having Felix knowing about his son?

• rumple know Felix (?)

Even if Felix knew Rumple thanks to Peter Pan, why Rumple seem to know him? The last time he saw his father he didn't knew anything about the Lost Boys (not the ones that are on Neverland in that moment), what has changed since then?

• Rufio

In this episode while hook and Felix are fighting there is a reference to the movie "Hook" (1991), so there's not much to say, except that there is, like- why would you put a line like that only for ignore it and not telling us anything about how did it happen in the ouat universe.

• why isn't Felix dancing?

Why isn't Felix dancing when Pan is playing the pipes? They attract everyone who feels unloved, does this mean that Felix feels loved? Probably yes, since that he say that Neverland is the only home that he needs, but this still don't really make sense.

• the Lost Boys that were left on Neverland

In season 6 we see the Lost Boys what were left on Neverland but these scenes are truly disconnected from the Neverland arc that we see in season 3, first cause is not realistic at all that they were left there (there's no way Snow and Emma would ever let them), but even if they did it makes no sense if you think about Felix, surely he would have wanted to be left in Neverland if there had been a chance. "But it's for the plot!" I don't care.

some people were confused about this when i first brought it up but humanstuck tavros really should be filipino, not hispanic. i feel like it's pretty obvious that hussie coded tavros to be hispanic because rufio from the hook movie is played by dante basco. except there's one problem with that, which is that dante basco isnt hispanic at all. he's just from the philippines, which was colonized by spain. it's just that, you know. hussie didnt bother doing the basic research that would tell him that. which kinda sucks tbh

and im not saying this to rain on anyone's parade btw, you don't have to change your headcanons especially if you feel represented by hispanic tavros. but it is really unfortunate that this happened especially when there's a historical precedence for poc actors being treated as interchangeable by the movie industry. dante basco himself has talked about having to take roles as hispanic characters because no one was really looking for filipino actors at the time. im just asking for people to be a little mindful about it ig

My eldest had never seen the 1991 movie Hook until tonight. They definitely seemed to like it. But as we were watching, Spouse Unit said that he liked determining what time period each Lost Boy was from based on their clothing. Which made me realize something I probably should have picked up on YEARS ago.

I dont think Rufio knew Peter Pan until he returned to neverland to save Jack and Maggie. All the other Lost Boys could see glimpses of Peter before Peter remembered who he was, but not Rufio. Never Rufio. It wasn’t until Peter could fly again that Rufio accepted him as “The Pan”

Perhaps when Rufio became Lost himself, he was hoping to meet Peter, not knowing he had already grown up. But also Rufio was clearly at least a teenager when he became a Lost Boy, which only made him more “suitable” to be in charge.

I only recently learned that there is (or might be) a prequel story about Rufio that Dante was involved with. I’m going to go track that down and see if that confirms any of the thoughts I had while rewatching tonight.

the story behind luki is that at the time (13) i was really into rufio from hook (and rufio in hs based on the hook dude) and peter pan stuff was my special interest AND i liked loki from the marvel movies cus he was so Gender to Me. And my online friend did a Q&A on muzy (pre tumblr perfect amaizng website i still miss) and said my username "rufioloki" as "rufioluki" and hence the usernames and emails and nickname itself was born

Chapter 28 Preview:

Happy New Year! I'm hoping to get Chapter 28 up this week. In the meantime, enjoy an excerpt as a preview and let me know what you think!

Peter Pan hadn’t always been twisted by darkness.  He had been irreparably harmed by Lord Ponsoby’s abuse, and by Lady Ponsoby’s neglect, but he hadn’t been cruel.  His years of eternity had made him somewhat reckless, his mind growing, expanding, and aging even as his body stayed perpetually young.  While he was nominally seventeen, the fact was, he was centuries old.  As a result, it was easy for him to become bored.  So Peter had become ever more impulsive, becoming more and more of a daredevil in Neverland where life and death were things to be bartered- merely games to be played.  Target practice became about shooting apples off other’s heads, proving one’s courage became about diving off cliffs and throwing daggers, and an average day became about warring with the Indians and pirates.  It wasn’t enough to just fight them.  Eventually, to keep the game exciting, Peter and the Lost Boys had to wound them.  Later, they had to kill them.

            While Lost Boys- until Rufio –never died at the hands of their enemies, they had suffered plenty of injuries at the hands of the pirates and the Indians.  As for the pirates and the Indians, when they died at the hands of the Lost Boys, Peter allowed Hook to journey to replace his crew.  And the Indians, of course, as they were born of his imagination, could both have new members dreamt up by him and reproduce themselves.  

            The stakes had grown ever higher and higher, but there were lines even Pan wouldn’t cross.  Still, the Boys knew to respect him, and so when the day arrived that Tootles shot Wendy Darling out of the sky, the Boys also fully expected blood to be shed. 

            Yet as Peter’s dagger whirled towards Tootles’ throat, Wendy had stopped him.  She’d stood up to him, the first to do so in ages, and Pan’s world had been forever changed since that moment.  For it was Wendy- as it was always Wendy -who continually reached out in his darkest moments to pull him back into the light. 

            It was why Peter had committed his greatest atrocities after he’d sent her away.  He’d lost himself when he lost her, and while he was grateful that she’d come back- if disappointed she’d returned for Baelfire and not for him –he had promised himself he would never be parted from her again. 

            It was this need, this compulsion in his soul, that drove him to desperate measures when Laddie had threatened her by demanding to know why Wendy was worth twenty boys.  Determined to protect her by proving she was worthless, Pan had locked her in a cage.  But now that his Shadow had charged him to seek out the light, Peter knew the only way to find the light was to find her.

            As Felix stood guard, Peter unlatched the cage, carefully lowering it to the ground.  Steeling his nerves, he took in the Bird’s appearance.  Her hair was ragged, the bow still in place despite the snarls tangled at the base of her hair.  She was pale and wary, and while she had stopped crying, her eyes were red-rimmed.

            He hated himself then, because he knew he had no one to blame but himself for her appearance. 

            Staring at Peter as if he were a ghost, Wendy’s voice trembled as she asked, “Am I…am I free?”

            A dreadful instant passed as Peter considered the question.  He wanted to say yes, to let her roam about the island as she wished- but the Charmings, Hook, Laddie, Baelfire, and the Evil Queen were still at large.  She was a liability he couldn’t afford to have. 

            And yet if he kept her locked up, how could he seek the light?              Deciding he would try to be somewhat honest, Pan replied, “Not yet, Wendy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t come out and play.”  At the touch of her hand in his, a frisson of excitement passed through his skin.  Even being around her reassured him of who he was, of the necessity of the plan, and that the plan would succeed.  As her pulse raced, his calmed.

Tell me you never read the original novel without telling me… The narrator even refers to him as “not wholly unheroic” ffs. The story was NEVER a black-and-white Good versus Evil tale — it’s about WENDY coming to terms with what she thinks she wants versus the reality of getting it.

“If you want to write a story where Peter is the villain” BITCH THIS KID KILLS OFF LOST BOYS WHEN THEY START GETTING TOO OLD AND BREATHES HEAVILY WHENEVER HE GETS PISSED OFF BECAUSE HE BELIEVES WITH EVERY BREATH AN ADULT DROPS DEAD. Is that your perfect little lily-white hero? Get a clue (and pick up a book).

And then the cherry on this shit sundae — saying “now that’s a Peter Pan movie” in reference to Hook. No, sweetie, Hook is Spielbergian fanfiction. Hook is so far removed from the themes and narrative of JMB’s original story it’s actually offensive. (Though I will grant you that it’s a better movie in general than that Disney live-action atrocity that just came out…)

You wanna see an ACTUAL “Peter Pan movie”? Universal’s 2003 live-action Peter Pan. Oh but OOPS that movie “woobifies” Hook too and makes Peter look less than perfectly unproblematic so you might wanna avert your delicate eyes and stick to Rufio… 🙄

Reframing of Damara (a pun on the Japanese imperative "Damare!" or "Silence!") within a Native-focused paradigm is reminding me that Disney's Tiger Lily was completely silent... not necessary since the opposition of Silence and English is pretty potent on its own, but vaguely compelling.

I may have mentioned this here before, but the Disney song "What Makes the Red Man Red?" is, though rooting itself in racial parody, bound to the broader story in its depiction of jealousy: Tiger Lily kisses Peter and makes Wendy red with envy, just as Tinkerbell goes red when Peter flirts with Wendy, just as Mr. Darling sets off the story's events through envy of his children's affection for the dog Nana... and Rufio's red hair in Hook acted to mark him as castrated and suffering from "Peter Pan Envy", to borrow Robin Williams' turn of phrase. Anyway if the above holds any water, the repeated references to Damara's violent jealousy could function as another coded reference to her "redness".

I know which clip you're talking about, I've seen it floating around, but I'm afraid I can't point you to it.

I honestly try to stay away from the whole creator and VA side of the shipping drama. I only bring up Dante's weird behaviour when Bryke are called weird creeps for putting a cohesive romance plot in their story. I like Dante Basco as an actor (I had a huge crush on him as Rufio in Hook) and I don't think he's some weird pedophile for making a few questionable jokes and getting swept up in the shipping hype.

I was thinking about the old Biker AU that @smilegirl64 adopted from me. Back when I was working on it with my former girlfriend, she had her own biker gang AU she was working on for a different fandom. So we combined them and her gang (name forgotten by now) and my gang (War Hammer) were allied gangs from different cities.

I was still wanting Mary to have an allied gang now that I’m no longer in touch with my old girlfriend…. But who would I put in place of her gang? Well obviously it should be Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. Heck, their gang could even be callled The Lost Boys. Peter’s second in command would be Rufio since I friggen love the movie Hook. And his rival gang would obviously be Captain Hook and his pirates.

Now am I ever going to actually write anything to go with these ideas? It’s possible. But as I’m taking a short break from writing for the holidays, we’ll have to wait and see if I have time once I’m finished with Patient.

Anyway. Dunno if anyone besides SG would be interested in this. But I thought I’d share anyway.
