Okay. Fact time.

OS never cared about Buddie.

All he cared about was him getting importance over everyone else.

Its evident from all his interviews till s6. And now, that fact is just getting justified further.

Guy says he always played Buck as bi. But the fact is, he didn't.

That bi possibility ONLY came out when he was with Eddie & maybe TK. Not with any other man. AND OS was over the moon for mortalia being "THE couch" 🤢🤮 which completely eliminates the viability of his claim that he ALWAYS wanted Buck's sexuality explored.

Guy says the people who don't like Tommy & this plot are people who doesn't know how a story works.

And he does!? Because if he did, he wouldn't just dismiss the loyalty of one of the biggest fandoms after Destiel that kept the show in the forefront of social media all these years. If it was 1 person thinking so, it can be a mistake. There's LITERALLY tens of thousands of fans who have found Buddie on the show. Even when they had no idea about the ship before watching the show & realizing "wait....are they a thing!!??" out of the blue.

No wonder there are a lot of Buddie shippers who are hurt by his attitude, quitting the show. Not because they're h*moph*bic. But because he's been dismissing them & all the subtext that the show has thrown at them all these years without an inch of shame of taking advantage of it for all that time.

If he's so arrogant enough to think he alone can run the show, it won't be long until that ship sinks. Especially when the arrogance is directed to fans, the people who LITERALLY pay his bills, because if we don't watch his work, he'd be jobless.

People have been desperately grasping at straws with all the interviews he's been giving..."he knows something", "of course he can't straight up say he wants buddie... common", "that was a very good way of answering the question" etc etc.

Guess what... it WASN'T the best way to answer SUCH AN IMPORTANT question.

Of course he could say what he wanted. It wasn't like the interviewer asked what was going to happen.

I have always thought his quick answer of "I'm open to it" is SO ODD. Because THAT is not how someone who wants it will talk about it. I have felt it from the beginning. The first Ryliver live. That itself had sealed the deal that ALTHOUGH people desperately WANT Ryan to be the one OPPOSING Buddie (because that's the ONLY way that their h*te towards him will be justified), Ryan was the one who chose the ship name & talked about how Buddie is getting shipped every second. OS kept mum even then. His expressions & body language changed. As if he isn't so into it.

THAT has been going on every damn time Buddie was mentioned in interviews. As if he's not so keen to do it.

Let me say...his body language screams he didn't want to do the Timmy Turner kiss too. He's uncomfortable af. If you remove your "OMG OS is amazing" glasses off & view it as a critic, you'll get it in a second. He just seems to be in it because, again, his character is getting importance.

Among the 911 cast, there's no one MORE concerned about THEIR position, THEIR role, THEIR screen time etc as much as OS does. He'd promote the hell out of the lamest things if it meant he'll get attention . That's what happened in s6. Taking unethical advantage of the fandom's couch theory & promoting the mortalia track like a giddy kid & being over enthusiastic about "in another life"....all were the cry for attention. And the fandom fell for it.

THAT is what's happening now too. Plus he's copying words from other actors to make his "story" more interesting lol.

Anyway....guy has become more arrogant than he already was.

Arrogance NEVER ends well. History has it proved.

PS: People can try grasping at straws to support the guy & put him on a pedestal because he's a tantrum king. But don't @ me on this with your straws. Won't work. I don't like arguing with blind fans because you wouldn't EVER see sense even if it is ALL SHOVED ON YOUR FACE.

I truly don’t understand the mindset of some of these buddie shippers. I’ve never seen a group of fans demand so loudly that characters they supposedly enjoy, cheat. You want to damage the characters, sure do that. How many times does Oliver have to say buddie is entirely hypothetical situation at this point as they don’t want to do offensive stereotypes of BI people. Also, has no one noticed Ryan, besides one interview, not really getting involved, read the room people.

The more theories people come up with, the more we cannot deny that this stopped being just about a ship a long time ago. If it were just about ship, people would want the story to start in a way that encourages support from the GA (our biggest obstacle) instead of taking a shortcut just because we've waited long enough. (And let me reiterate that nobody forced any of us to stick around for this long. Keeping up with the story lines in hopes that a fanon ship will one day go canon is exactly how the PR team is able to dupe fans so easily even now.) If it were just about a ship, people would be able to accept and respect Oliver's and Ryan's takes on the situation each season instead of twisting their words to fit possible canon scenarios or completely dismissing something because "they have to say that". But this isn't about a ship anymore, not really. This is about being able to stick it to the fans of other shows who said they've been down the same road and know where it will end. This is about not feeling like they've wasted literal years of their life believing a fandom-wide headcanon that may never make it on screen. All that time for what? Nothing? (Almost like it's their first real fandom or something...) This is about getting Repressed Eddie for the "representation", sure, but also for the purpose of proving to the masses that Ryan was never hesitant about Buddie (despite what his own quotes say *at the moment*, along with his co-star's) and therefore was never "homophobic". (He's not, I agree.) This is about validation.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore? Christian/Sean from Nip/Tuck. Letting them go was the first step in me trying to free myself from the demon that is Ryan Murphy and his shows.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one? Eric/Jack from Boy Meets World. I shipped them before I even knew what shipping was. You couldn't tell me shit about them and you still can't. They were, are, and always will be in love. You will never change my mind.

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple? So I didn't get into fic until WAY late, like 2008. Which is weird cause I was on message boards and in so many LJ comms, but I just didn't read it. Keeping that in mind, it was Phlochte. I'm not proud but I'm not as embarrassed as I should be. If you knew anything about those two back then, you'd get it okay. lol

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over? I don't actually. I still don't seek out fanart, so I'm not surprised I don't remember the first one I saw.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse? I still have anti-delena and anti-stydia tags on old posts on this account sooo...lol. But I was never in the inbox, messages, comments, or posts of people who actually liked those ships! People just came to me to fight when I would post my hate posts on my own account.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently? The previous answer answers that, lol. But I don't have any currently. I've hit the point where if I love a ship that's not happening and/or I hate the main pairing, I tend to just peace out. I only ever had NOTPs cause I wouldn't quit shows, but now I'll drop them. I keep up with my faves through gifsets with no need to actually watch the show.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read? WangXian. I finished the show in four days and read all five books in five days. I have been OBSESSED for like a month.

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs? I will never not have OTPs, lol. I have more noncanon ships than canon since gay ships really just weren't happening back in the day. I also have several ships that got together but broke up, which I think also answers this question. The biggest will always be Shane/Carmen. It's been 18 years since Shane left Carmen at the altar and I'm still mad.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting? I'm watching Playboyy and I didn't give a shit about AobPuen and I didn't really care about PromNont but now I'm invested in them both. AobPuen got me in literally one episode. PromNont became intriguing when Prom gave Nont the gun and then it's just built from there.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be cancelled over? I watched and loved Love Syndrome III in 2023 so obviously I have hella ships from the past that would get me cancelled. I regret nothing.

12. What was your favorite crack ship? I honestly think I've only ever had one crack ship and that was ChanBig and it went from laughing online to "I am fully pretending this was actually happening and Chan and Big are fucking in the sky now, thank you, god bless" in record time.

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of? This isn't a fair question since a lot of my ships just don't have fic written about them. But I'm currently all up in WangXian fic.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common? I tend to like ships that are ~unhealthy~ ~toxic~ and ~problematic~. No regerts.

15. What do you absolutely hate in a ship? Just not talking to each other. I don't need them to agree, sometimes even on anything, but they have to talk. I don't care if they yell, fight, punch each other, whatever, as long as they talk. I don't like miscommunication because of that either. Because if you're actually talking, there's not miscommunication.

feel free to ignore this if you don’t wanna talk about it but i have no idea who max gao is and i’m wondering why you hate him?

I don't hate Max Gao. I've said it before: I only hate two people on this earth and neither of them are on Tumblr! I know it's a really specific thing to be pedantic about but hate is a strong word and words are a currency to me; I like to spend them carefully.

Having said that, Max Gao is a reporter (and I use that word with the loosest of definitions) who has been covering 911 for the last few years. He is achingly unprofessional, and a blatant Buddie shipper. Him being a Buddie shipper isn't wrong in itself, but it becomes a problem when he starts hinting at "queerbaiting" and gets the twitter fandom, who already needs little provocation, in an uproar. He throws tantrums like a child when Buck and Eddie don't interact and then gets other people to join in his misery.

My biggest reason for not liking him is from when he teased a piece he was doing on Gavin and said he was going to get his "parents" to comment on the interview (the implication was that he would be getting Oliver and Ryan to comment for the article). Ryan's people (and Oliver's too, if I recall correctly) declined but he got mad and used some very inflammatory language on Twitter that caused people to direct even more abuse/hatred in Ryan's direction. Which I was just not cool with. Ryan's not on Twitter anymore, chances are he didn't even see it, but it's the principle of the matter. Max let embarrassment poison what little professionalism he already possessed and the result was an unscrupulous and childish meltdown that had - in my opinion - malicious intent.

He's been off of my radar for a while now, but it's always a deeply unpleasant experience when I'm reminded he exists.

yes, I'm talking about the Tim and Kristen interview.

my thoughts, very briefly, just to add my voice to the ones still believing buddie is endgame:

1 - showrunners (and actors) lie. they would never spoil future episodes, so if they have to talk about the past, if they have to give non-answers or flat out lie, they will. Tim has lied many times in past interviews and he will keep doing it.

2 - what's already obvious from the promos is that Eddie is going to have a breakdown, and in the interview they mention an identity crisis. ok, he left his firefighting career and that could lead to it, but that can't be all, can it? because Frank's question is about fear, and Eddie's panic attacks started way before he even considered leaving the 118. so what identity crisis is Eddie really dealing with here? I'm still firmly convinced this is a queer awakening arc and if it isn't, it's the biggest wasted opportunity in the history of television.

3 - Max isn't a journalist and it shows. he has a hard time keeping the viewer/fan Max apart from the journalist Max, he keeps blurring the lines and, even though he should be well aware of Tim's "lies" (see point 1) he insists in taking every single word at face value and making tweets about it. this interview was weirdly timed imo and the only one gaining from it, via twitter engagement, is... Max.

4 - the on-screen chemistry between Oliver and Ryan is amazing, both actors are on board with the possibility of buddie becoming canon (they baptized the ship, ffs!), their story so far as been very well crafted and, if done right, it could make tv history. to throw this all away would be incredibly dumb, and for what? just to stomp a foot on the ground and say "making them a couple was not in our initial plans, so we refuse to make it happen, fans don't tell us what to do"? I find that highly unlikely (no, not impossible, because * insert "I see dumb people everywhere" meme here *, but still very very very unlikely).

so yeah, I'm one of those 9-1-1 fans that is still saying "let's wait and see". yeah yeah, I know, how many more seasons, right? and I tell you: this one. two things must happen for buddie to be canon by the end of this season or the next: Eddie must go through a queer-awakening arc (and him going into therapy it's the perfect time for it, he has many repressed issues to deal with, sexuality can be one of them) and Buck must realize that he deserves to be in a relationship because he chose to and not because it just sort of happened to him, so he'll have to decide to break up with Taylor because she's not the right person for him (and not because he hooks up with yet another woman).

if none of these things happen, if by the end of 5b Eddie and Buck are back at the 118 but nothing has changed between them or about them, then yeah, I'll be picking up a pitchfork and heading to Tim and Kirsten's office to have a few words with them. until then, I remain a very enthusiastic buddie shipper. 😉

Full disclosure, I'm not much of a Buddie shipper aside from seeing the obvious baiting happening in almost every episode.

Substantial queer ships are still few and far between on TV, and even many of the ones that exist are tainted because of at least one of the actors involved being visibly uncomfortable about it off-screen. Honestly, Vlamburn, both on and off-screen, is the biggest reason Malex could never really be ruined for me, and Ryan Guzman being so iffy off-screen (and not just for ship-related reasons) is a big reason I couldn't really enjoy them even if it was headed towards canon. Most of the 911 fandom seems to tiptoe around it/ignore it outright, but trust you to just blurt it out explicitly.

I get what you mean. Most of the time queer ships feel like someone fulfilling a tick list vs being authentic and grounded to reality. They are also never usually offer the development or slow burns offered to heterosexual couples which strip them of equality from the get go.

Malex have this balance of groundbreaking and Carina’s awful stereotypes.But now she’s gone I truly think the attention that will be given is what will veer Malex to being groundbreaking again coming from a place of lived in experiences from Alanna and other queer writers on staff.

I enjoy the dynamic of buddie but this season I feel like I’m just seeing the same baited scene over and over again. It’s monotonous.I’d much rather they focus on their relationships with Christopher then all of that garbage baiting/contrived romances.To me Buck reads bi and from a twitter thread he also reads to have ADHD.I just think baiting and treating it as a joke is just tired.You don’t have to make em queer but you can respect the lgtb audience at least.Not to mention you’ve given the gay black man a tumour and constantly try and take away the black lesbians kids I’m not singing the lgtb praises, Tim.
