So!

My friend met this woman on work out of town and said they hit it off, and when he came back, suggested she'd meet up with him when she came into town.

And I talked about it with him, because he was pretty sure he was going to meet up with her and get laid or whatever, but I cautioned him to read into the signals. She was all "I HAVE to go to [City] and maybe I'll look you up."

So I was cautioning him, cautioning him, this whole time - again, she'd emphasized how she HAD to go into town, and when we met her at the airport, she gave him this "guess who" and weird handshake - you know where you grab both hands and sort of jiggle everything - so I was telling him absolutely to be pessimistic.

But then she said she couldn't find a good hotel room and asked to stay with him.

I can promise you, where we live, there are PLENTY of hotel rooms.

So as far as I was concerned that was it - that was the clear signal she wanted to hook up! And I told him that!

Anyway long story short she was engaged and he ended up spending a day going on some stupid ferry ride with her and he was annoyed with me.

So am I the asshole for just giving him my advice? It's not my fault he took it, knowing how bad I am with women.

All the chapter scripts for Triangle Strategy are now up on the wiki! The scripts should contain essentially all of the text from the game, with the exception of some UI and other not-dialogue things.

Long-winded list + rambling about what I still need to clean up under the cut:

I haven't touched the mid-battle dialogue yet for the most part. It's all pasted in every chapter, but I've pretty much just slapped a "This dialogue is triggered if [condition unknown]" label on all of the lines and called it a day.

The dialogue for each side story is only included in the data once, so if one side story is included in multiple different route paths, there's a decent chance I missed that. Once I get the basic script down, I'll go back and take a closer look to make sure I have the side stories duplicated where they need to be.

There are also a few scenes that were in the script and that I can remember playing through, but they didn't seem to actually be in the chapter the datamining said they would be in, so I need to track down where they actually go.

Event descriptions are mostly all there, but there were a few places I need to go back and check.

There are a lot of little general things I might have missed (things like conditionals that didn't show up in the ids I was looking at, so they flew under my radar).

Question-answer associations are likely mixed up in a lot of places. I touched on it in a previous post, but this is due to the fact that when Serenoa is answering a question, there's no real id that's used to indicate what dialogue follows a specific answer. So I've mostly just gone off of what sounds right for the time being. But if you're dying for a not-tldr explanation (and of course you're dying for a not-tldr explanation!!!!):

The way I've been "datamining" a lot of this isn't actually datamining so much as it is sort of......... making educated guesses based on the developer's variable naming system. Like for example, a specific piece of dialogue might be named:

MS01_X01_A1_0010_F_FRE_0070

And what I did was sort of reverse-figure-out what those ids indicated. I figured out that MS stands for "Main Story," 01 is the chapter number, X indicates that it's part 2 (if there ARE two parts, otherwise it's just the whole chapter), A1 is a reference to the location (Wolffort Demense), 0010 I think is technically some sort of scene id, but I haven't been able to crack what exactly the value indicates. "F" is the gender, "FRE" indicates that Frederica is the speaker, and "0070" is some other numbers that I did actually figure out what they meant but it's not relevant to datamining (it's a counter for how many times a specific character has spoken in a scene, which was probably useful for making sure each dialogue line got a unique id but it's not super useful in any other sense). (Also my little brother was actually the one to figure that out for me so shout out to him!!!)

There are variants on this with other information included, such as:

RESEARCH: Comes from Exploration phase

ELA: Erador is the speaker

S01: Scenario ID 1 (usually means this is the dialogue that displays the first time you speak to him, vs. any time afterward)

0020: speaker count again

With questions specifically (like Benedict asking, "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), those lines of dialogue usually get the label S03. That "S03" label is applied to all parts of the question-related conversation, including: the question itself (e.g. "What do you think the purpose of the tourney is, my lord?"), Serenoa's answers ("I think it's to show off our military might", "I think it's to make friends," etc.), and any NPC response that follows (e.g. Benedict saying, "Not quite, my lord. You see, it's actually..."). As far as I can tell, there's no way to tell what answer goes with what NPC response. It would PROBABLY be in the code somewhere, but while variable names are really easy to see, the actual code is a lot harder to break into and would require likely learning a new coding language and other stuff I simply don't feel like doing.

So thus I'm just guessing a lot of times. For a fair amount of it, it's pretty easy to tell what response goes with what question, but whenever it's ambiguous, it's entirely possible I mixed up the placement of a few lines here and there.

01.

"My Daddy is amazing, you know, the absolute best," Kasumi brags, "but he's grumpy and frown a lot, so I worry about him being alone." She sighs like it's pain her to admit it. "I've been looking for a partner for my Daddy and I think you make a good candidate, Midoriya-san."

02.

"Your dad would be okay with a quirkless omega?" Midoriya asks, brows creasing in concern. "Would he settle for someone lesser than him?" His face grim. "

Oh, Daddy doesn't discriminate," Kasumi says cheerfully. "He hates everyone equally, so nobody has the upper-hand here."

03.

"Daddy, you're almost 30," Kasumi says, "that's, like, ancient."

Katsuki glowers. "Say that again, brat."

She heaves a sigh. "You haven't gone on single date since I was born. What if I get marry and you die alone?"

"Who's dumb enough to marry you?" He sneers.

"Daddy!"

"I don't have a papa," Kasumi says cheerfully. "Daddy said he died after he stepped on a nail and contracted tetanus."

"Oh," Midoriya says, smiling awkwardly.

She hums thoughtfully. "But I know that's a lie because when I was six, Daddy also said Papa got eaten by a shark."

05.

"Daddy, we need to talk."

Katsuki sighs tiredly. "You got five minutes."

"I can do it in three!"

His lips twitches in amusement. "Convince me then."

Kasumi rolls out a large homemade poster and presents it to him. "It's time for you to get marry and here are my reasons."

06.

"What are you looking for in a partner?" Kasumi presses. "Pretty? Smart? They got to be strong enough to handle you, right?"

"Someone who hates kid preferably," Katsuki says, pointedly looking at her.

"Daddy," she whines, "I'm being serious here!"

"So am I," he says dryly.

07.

"He said I only have you because Papa didn't want me, so I punched him."

Katsuki frowns. "And you know it's wrong, right?"

Kasumi's lips wobbles precariously. "Y-yes." She runs into his arms and wails unrepentantly. "If I knew I would get caught I should have punch him more!"

08.

Babies are useless little things that sleep and eat all day, and they're stinky too as Katsuki leans close and smells the odor coming off of her, her fist smacking him in the face in the process.

He stares down at her as Kasumi giggles. "My mortal enemy," he declares soberly.

09.

"Don't you hate him?" Izuku asks.

"How can I hate someone I don't know?" Kasumi answers bluntly. "He gave me away when I turned one but," a pause, "sometimes I like to think he must have care enough to have kept me for that long, right?"

"Yes," he breathes, heart trembling.

10.

Katsuki grinds out, "You said there were only four, so why are there five's name on here?"

"Oh, I miscounted." Kasumi smiles and every bit unapologetic.

He frowns as he stares down at her. "I sent you to school to learn, but did it make you dumber?"

11.

"Daddy, could you please try to smile a little?" Kasumi frowns.

Katsuki's scowl only deepens further. "This is how I always look."

"How are you going to impress anyone when you look like an ogre the entire time?!" she huffs. "My guest is going to think I have an ugly father!

12.

"Daddy, would you love me if I was a worm?" Kasumi asks.

"No," Katsuki says, with no hesitation.

She pouts and pinches the back of his hand.

He gives her unimpressed look and sighs. "But I'll keep you and take good care of you even if you're useless, squirmy little worm."

13.

Kasumi gestures for him to come closer. Katsuki's eyes narrow suspiciously even as he complies.

"Oh, Daddy, you're so handsome," she gushes. "Just remember not to open your mouth, it will ruin the effect."

He scowls. "You brat—" but she quickly shushes him. "No talking!"

14.

"Don't be nervous." Kasumi pats his hand in assurance. "My daddy isn't scary. He's mean, but he can also be nice! But mostly mean if he thinks you're being dumb." Her brows furrow thoughtfully. "Just avoid saying anything stupid and I'm sure he'll like you!"

15.

"If you want to impress my daddy, here's what you need to do," Kasumi says, pulling a thick binder with colorful tabs sticking out.

Izuku takes out a notepad and pen, looking serious and determined. "I'm ready."

A grin spreads across her face. "I knew you were a good pick!"

16.

"Are you doing this because you think I'm not doing enough as a parent?"

Horrified, Kasumi hugs him. "No, daddy! You're the best," she says. "There's no replacement for you." As Katsuki hugs her back, she slyly adds, "But it would be nice if you have a partner in your old age."

17.

"Daddy, when you have another kid, you can't like them more than me okay?" Kasumi insists. "I'll still be number one."

"I haven't even met the bastard yet and you already vaulted past marriage to kids," Katsuki says, flickering her forehead. "Why would I even want another brat?"

18.

"Why do you want to find him a partner so much?" Izuku asks.

"Daddy told me he didn't know how to love me at first, but I grew on him like a terrible fungus," Kasumi says cheerfully. "Since then, he's always put me first, so it's now his turn to find someone who put him first."

19.

"I just got you the 2nd best birthday present ever!" Katsuki snorts. "You?"

Kasumi pouts. "No, Daddy, it's a date!" she reveals. "You know, I'm the best thing to ever happened to you."

"Sometimes, I doubt that," he says dryly.

20.

"This is Midoriya-san," Kasumi excitedly introduces.

Abruptly, Katsuki raises his fist and launches it forward.

Eyes wide, she screeches, "Daddy!"

The wall behind Izuku crumbles under the force of his fist, but Izuku remains unflinching. "Hello, Kacchan," he greets ruefully.

Regrading Taskmaster: S01 E02 The pie whisperer.

Prize Task: Most Impressive Item

Tim Key: Tim brings in his medal from running the London Marathon in 2009. This is obviously genuinely impressive.

Frank Skinner: Frank brings in a leather crown meant to resemble what one would get out of a cracker. This was graded very highly and I cannot understand how it didn't come it last.

Roisin Conaty: Roisin brings in a giant champagne bottle. It is slightly impressive that she got a champagne bottle that is larger than normal champagne bottles.

Josh Widdicombe: Josh got a woo and Greg confesses that he feels like Josh got shafted. However, Josh's trophy from Pointless quite arbitrarily came in next-to-last.

Romesh Ranganathan: Romesh brings in an Arsenal cap. It is unclear whether it actually came from an Arsenal player.

Josh brought in something actually impressive and it's unclear how Frank's crown can actually be described as such. Roisin probably rightly comes in third due to the ambiguity in Romesh's cap.

Tim: 5 (0) Josh: 4 (+2) Roisin: 3 (0) Romesh: 2 (+1) Frank: 1 (-3)

VT 01: High-five a 55 year-old.

This task is a mess. Frank high-fives multiple people, but none of whom are 55, so he should have been disqualified. Josh and Roisin got the thing done. Romesh high-fives a 51 year-old, which is also not completing the task. Tim, while appropriating the good name of Comic Relief, did get the task done despite some skeeviness and deserved to come in second.

VT 02: Identify the contents of these pies. You may touch the pies, but may not breach their pastry.

Ordering Alex to open a pie for you could be construed as a breach, but that's probably not outside the spirit of the task. Roisin and Tim's argument that "looking into the pie" is "breaching it" is obviously ridiculous. That said, Josh and Romesh actually do breach the integrity of the pastry with their hands and deserve disqualifications.

Frank also just outright cuts into the toothpaste pie, although this seems to have been permitted after the task.

VT 03: Do something that will look impressive in reverse.

Josh Widdicombe: Somehow Josh gets four for fake-pulling a van where the tether constantly gets slack. Simply unbelievable.

Tim Key: Tim "puts together a puzzle" which is a clever use of something that's easier to do backwards rather than forwards.

Frank Skinner: Frank fakes a push-up by falling to the ground. Frank said it was embarrassing and he was not wrong.

Roisin Conaty: Roisin gets a big assist from the production team in this one by elevating spitting to an arthouse quality piece of film. It's fine, but it definitely did not deserve to be on the same level as Romesh.

Romesh Ranganathan: Tree Wizard is just iconic. Easy five.

LOSING (by his side): Track 01

This is the first of six pieces I made for a small project. Consists on illustrating a playlist based on a character or in this case, a ship + the song. I get a lot of inspiration to draw from music, so this has been really fun to do and wanted to share some details of the process.

In this first track I imagine the lyrics refer to the stickiness this relationship has on both of them after S01. They're somewhat aware they're not really good for each other but they're better together than on their own.

We're gonna get sky-high and create a new world Where somebody might die, but nobody gets hurt

Ed is completely torn apart by Stede leaving him. The intense pain of being abandoned by the person who helped his softer side get out kicks Ed back into this shield: the kraken. They both create this character as an illusion where finally, there's no way of getting hurt and there's no way they're gonna be separated again. For Izzy, a needed facade for any captain. For Ed, a coping mechanism and a way to get Izzy back on his side.

The visuals are inspired on the official lyric video, the muted colors and the VHS/old digital vibe, plus the split view used a lot on it. It was nice to experiment with composition and how to express the vibes I get for the ship and the particular song 🤍
