Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown
༺ Day 60▪︎ 39 Left
Princess Zelda, in A Link Between Worlds, is actually very fond of painting (first inspired by the murals and various galleries in Hyrule Castle). For a while after the events of the game, she becomes conflicted... She wishes something she used to love so much didn't make her so uneasy. It's ultimately with Impa's encouragement and Link as her muse that helps Zelda to find joy in painting again.

(Very late) Linktober 2023 – Day 22. NPC
How about some Shadow Temple vibes for Halloween? 👻
I looove Impa in OoT (boob armor and all!), she looks so buff and intimidating. I'm sure she has little Link pretty terrified.
I'm a bit sad I couldn't finish Linktober on time :(( I'm not giving up though, I need to complete all the prompts.
Here's also some of my favorite Shadow Temple related music because I feel like sharing!
youtube
Marble Pawns' amazing remix of the Nocturne of Shadow and the Shadow Temple theme (never thought I would come to love this theme that much).
youtube
And a very interesting and heartbreaking take on Kakariko Village! This one hits so hard 😭

Happy 26th Anniversary, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Today is the 26th Anniversary for...
Tumblr media
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time!
Tumblr media
This game was the debut of
Tumblr media
Ganondorf, the King of the Gerudos,
Tumblr media
Sheik, Zelda's Sheikah alter-ego,
Tumblr media
and the Six Sages of Hyrule. Rauru, Darunia of the Goron, Saria, Impa, Princess Ruto of the Zora, and Nabooru.
Tumblr media
This game had Link go on his adventure with Navi to save Hyrule, but to do that, he had to meet Princess Zelda to get the three Spiritual Stones,
Tumblr media
confront Ganondorf, travel through time with the Master Sword being Young Link and Adult Link seven years later, and reawaken the Sages to assist him in defeating the King of Evil.
Tumblr media
But after that, Zelda feeling like she's the one to blame, had to sent Link back to his own time, as Navi left completing her duty, and Link warned Child Zelda about Ganon's schemes to get the Triforce to rule the world.

LoZ: Ternary Ages △ World of Hyrule
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⚔ Hyrule Overworld
Hyrule is broken into 9 major regions: Central Hyrule, Faron, Necluda, Lanayru, Eldin, Woodlands, Hebra, Tabantha, and Gerudo. Smaller regions such as Lost Woods, Akalla, Lurelin, Ridgelands, and the Barren Basins fill the gaps.
The colored map highlights the territories of the existing nations. The Sheikah of Necluda and Hylians os Faron/Lurelin are considered in Hyrule proper but are still unique nations.
The Rito have not unified and the Kokiri do not consider themselves a 'nation.'
Tumblr media
❇ Central Hyrule
Leader: Hylian Royal Family (King Rhoam, Queen Zirda, Princess/Queen Zelda)
Allies: Zora, Goron, Kokiri, Sheikah, Lurelins
Adversaries: Gerudo, Hebra Rito
Neutral: Tabantha Rito
Sage of Light - Zirda | Triforce of Wisdom - Zelda
Central Hyrule is the land of Hylia, filled with sloping plains, green grass, gentle winds, and elegant mountains reaching for the heavens. The land is rich with grains, fruit, lumber, cattle, and fresh water bodies. Dotting the plains, hills, and forests are small towns, surviving on cattle and the land, harvesting and trading to stay afloat in their prosperity. On an inselberg, north of the nation, sits Hyrule Castle and its town. Bustling with trade, music, and wealth, the town and castle are architectural beauties, densely populated and only silent at night. Cathedral structures, cool cobalt stone, and glorious red banners lined with golden embroidery loudly announce abundance. Nothing beats the Temple of Time, a huge ancient structure said to protect the gate to the Sacred Realm, where Hylia rests. Gardens with archways, marble altars, and murals are scattered throughout. Castle Town is known for its grand festivals and parties, adoring their king, queen, and princess and praying for the Hero. It' people worship the primordial goddess Hylia and the Three Golden Goddesses: Farore, Din, and Nayru. Their sovereign leader is the reigning royal family, a monarchy known for their generosity to their people, divine powers, and a desire to unify the land at large.
Tumblr media
𑁍 Lurelin/Faron
Leader: N/A
Vassal nation to Hyrule
Hero of Courage/Triforce of Courage - Link
South of Central Hyrule, Faron is a wet and coastal region, littered with some dense woodlands abundant with rain. Its people are all former pirates and seafarers, having settled in this coastal region after the Great Sea pulled away, revealing its lush, fertile soils. Trades of fishing, butchery, woven mercantile, glorious fabrics and tapestries, and ivory/shell material have earned the area a name for itself. The region is a vassal to Hyrule, serving its royal family and has no internal governmental structure. While they worship Hylia, the land is said to be Farore's birthplace so her divinity is highly respected here, thus, so is the Hero. The Hero is worshipped and all children are prayed to be the Hero. The Earth Temple is here.
Tumblr media
𓁿 Necluda
Leader: Sheikah Elder, Diya
Vassal state to Hyrule.
Sage of Shadow - Parrane
Necluda is the mountainous valley home to the Sheikah tribe, a collection of white-haired people who have long served the Hylian royal family and institution. Often called the 'Shadow People,' the Sheikah are very secretive in their valley, keeping close, barred watch on its eastern border with Lurelin. Kakariko Village, if reached, is friendly and sacred. Legend says that dragons are born from their neighboring lake, swirling into the sky and cutting through the famous, notably Dual Peaks. The Sheikah are masters in stealth, potions and oils, balms, chicken byproducts, and metallurgy. The people are led by the Sheikah Elder, Diya. Her niece, Impa, serves as Hyrule's princess' guard. The Sheikah nobody Parrane would eventually awaken as the Sage of Shadow, the tenant of the Shadow Temple - a dense system of caves and wells all connected, eventually turned into a torture chamber for the royal family.
Tumblr media
⏾ Lanayru
Leaders: Zora Royal Family (King Inogo, Queen Lala, Princess Ruti)
Allies: Hyrule, Gorons
Adversaries: Gerudo
Neutral: Ritos
Sage of Water - Malan
The Zora live in the rainy, dark, mountainous, and luminescent Lanayru. A watery paradise filled with glowing stones, ancient ruins half-buried in lakes, and dense evergreens, Lanayru is a heavenly place. Soaked, the land thrives in an industry of trading metals, crabs, fish, flora such as honeysuckles, nightshades, and evergreen saps. With a rich history in monument building, the Zora's have impeccable craftsmanship with stone, metal, and ice, trading statues and polished stone and gem talismans. King Inogo and Queen Lala run the Zora with a benevolent but iron fist, being pompous and pretentious much of the time. Jabu-Jabu is the god of the Zora, a turbulent and finicky water creature that lives in Lake Ruta, believed to bring floods, rains, droughts, and ice storms with a simple bellow. To keep Jabu-Jabu pleased, the Zora employ a royal musician to soothe the god.
Tumblr media
ঌ Eldin
Leader: Goron Chief Amato
Allies: Hyrule, Zora
Adversaries: Gerudo
Neutral: Hebra Rito
Sage of Fire - Dobras
At the mercy of Death Mountain, the Gorons populate the region of Eldin. Eldin is mountainous, jagged, hot, and overflowing with lava and hidden hot springs. Abundant in the mountain is ores and metals, making fine armor, weapons, and armaments/artillery. With the lava of the mountain, Gorons make ointments, religious and brotherly souvenirs, towering monuments/statues, and deadly catapults. Death Mountain is seen as the Golden Goddess Din's throne, where she sits and bestows either blessing or destruction on the denizens of Hyrule - earning the mountain a godlike reverence from the Gorons. Born from the stone, Gorons are a peaceful but powerful race, led by a chief Amato. The Gorons are expert blacksmiths, strategists, and musicians - being friendly above all else. Their rock roast and spring-boiled eggs are to die for!
Tumblr media
𖤓 Gerudo
Leader: King/Lord Ganondorf Dragmire
Allies: Tabantha Rito
Adversaries: Hyrule, Zora, Goron, Kokiri
Neutral: Hebra Rito
Triforce of Power/Vessel of Malice - Ganondorf | Sage of Spirit - Riar'svah
Locked in by towering mountains, the Gerudo desert is a harsh, near unlivable area. Despite this, a rich array of creatures, flora, and people dwell in the desert. Amidst Molduga, saffina, juicy melons, oases, and tangy fruits, the Gerudo people have amassed an empire. The Gerudo Fortress is a feat: built jutting out of the mountain at the foot of the Desert Colossus, with windcatchers using the winds from the Highlands to cool the fortress, the underground reservoir waters are pumped upwards to flow through the fortress. Mosaics, walls of glass and gems, and tapestries ordain the fortress with beauty. Their matrilineal and matriarchal society worship the Sand Goddess and spiritually venerate their ancestors through colossal statues, colosseums, and underground sanctuaries. Trading fabrics, gems, dyes, Molduga parts, and gold, the Gerudo are wealthy and sovereign. A male is born once every 100 years, the current one on the throne, overseeing their three part government: king/chief, spiritual priestess, and magic elders.
Tumblr media
𐦍 Rito
Tabantha:
Leader: Komilli & Needeema
Allies: Gerudo
Adversaries: Hebra Rito
Neutral: Hyrule
Sage of Wind | Komilli
Tabantha is a rich area of sloping plains, tall grass, and a gradual fade into cold, windy mountains, dense with snow. The Tabantha Rito tribe live in the northwest pocket of the region, specifically on the bird-shaped island in Medhoh Lake. There, they thrive in the towering ivory and stone structure, creating expert bows, arrows, wheat and grain products, and woven/braided material. They trade little with Hyrule, usually in exchange for foodstuffs. These Rito are tactical archers and woodwind musicians, famous for their lullabies and melodies heard echoing across Tabantha's frontier. In the Rito divide, the Tabantha coveted the Wind Temple, a towering structure nestled away in the mountains where the wind howls relentlessly, buffeting all who come near. This temple is their sacred place, challenging young Rito to brave the tormenting winds to reach it and leave offerings to the mysterious half-Rito, half-Hylian there, simply named Wind Player. The Sage of Wind, Komilli, turns his back on Hyrule when the war starts and his fellow leader, Needeema agrees, making the Tabantha Rito a neutral party...mostly. Komilli receives a vision and flies into the Gerudo Highlands where he meets with the Gerudo Sage... a deal was struck, that's all many know.
Hebra:
Leader: Edeeri
Perilous drops, slick ice, and thick snow loom over the dry, windy tundras of Hebra. Isolated, adversarial, and unwelcome, the Hebra Rito tribe are hostile to all who cross their lands, flying high above to spot and dive bomb intruders. Their hostility is unknown in origin but their callousness is not out of a violent inclination rather a desire to be left alone, safe, and separate from the divine back and forth in Hyrule proper. Since they engage in no trade or official communications, not much is known about the Hebra Rito save for a few stories and ideas. Their arrows are crafted of stone and lumber, with feathers plucked from the tail feathers of their user. They worship no god or goddess and their leader, seen in glimpses so brief many wonder is she is real, is Edeeri, an all-black Rito near twice the size of her companions.
𖧧 Woodlands / Lost Woods
The Kokiri and the Lost Woods inhabitants are non affiliated, choosing to remain in their shrouded depths of gnarled roots, misty meadows, endless lakes, and the shade of the Great Deku Tree. Tatu, the keeper of the Master Sword, is the only Kokiri who graces Hyrule, citing a divine calling to reach out and aid in the incoming rise of the Demon King.

THE TWILI ARE SHEIKAHS!!!! (AT LEAST THEY USED TO BE)
Hey wall, I'm back. Did ya miss me? I feel like this has already been said, but i'm gonna go ahead and do this anyway because of free will and stuff. If this is common knowledge already, I might just tweak out.
The Yiga are said to be Sheikahs that broke away because the king back then feared their technological advances. Could the Twili be an earlier form of the Yiga?
Maybe a decent half of the Sheikah tribe wasn't a huge fan of the Skyloftians return onto the surface, and broke away into their own tribe to do dark magic and such, causing the interloper war in a fight for independence, or to take down Hylia's empire.
Like:
"Hey guys, we just got back from the sky, and we're gonna start a kingdom here. Hope you don't mind."
"We do mind."
Or
"Hey can you guys stop with the dark magic?"
"How about you guys stop breathing?"
Or
"Hey maybe don't take the Triforce?"
"What? Could you repeat that? Couldn't hear you inside this sick dark magic helmet I'm gonna use to steal the Triforce."
The Sheikah tribe is also referred to as "shadow folk" or somethin... and Impa in oot ends up as the sage of shadow, and in Hyrule Warriors, Midna takes the title of sage of shadow.
I have... physical evidence, though... it is INCREDIBLY WEAK. Sheikah and Twili both share the trait of red eyes, which, to my knowledge, isn't shared in any other race. Then again, the Twili appear to have severe jaundice. The orange hair is explainable since the Yiga have black hair. And oh my gods, I just realized that the Twili's color pallete is the same as actual twilight. Anyways.
This was just I thought I had. And have had. For a while. Thought I'd share... thanks for coming to my Ted talk and have nice day.

@luzofstars;; A heroes journey. Link and Link.
ㅤAfter the entire events of Ganondorf and Princess Zelda resetting time, Link had woken back up ten years old once again and in the Kokiri Forest. This time though, rising in that bed in that hallowed out tree—it hadn't felt the same. Void, dark, absent of any whimsical youth and childlike wonder he once had. Weighed down by the memories of what happened, what didn't happen now technically and that crushing reminder he wasn't one of them had started to torment his now forcefully returned childlike mind. If it was difficult to go from a child to an adult then it was just as difficult to go from an adult to a child—if even more so. Forced to grow up to quickly and then forced to regress to an age where things were no longer the same.
ㅤLeaving Hyrule entirely was a decision he made quickly. No real thought to it, just a desperation to find Navi and perhaps to understand himself. And yet, he never found his friend and all he did was end up in trouble once again. Undead masks, the twisted salesman, the evil moon being yanked down by a God possessing the spirit of a dead child. It was just one nightmare after another and if the word time had lost all meaning to him the first time around—now it was like a noose around his neck. Constantly both chasing and running from it, desperate for a break from it's rivers current.
ㅤSheik had not lied when he said time was like a river, that it flowed differently for each person and yet no one could stop it. Try as he might, Link could not manipulate time entirely.
ㅤSaving Termina had been difficult, living with what he went through after doing it even more so. If Link was honest with himself, and most days that was rather hard to do, he didn't think he could handle anymore. He was exhausted in a way he couldn't properly describe and still lost at the same time. Impa had offered him a position in the Castle when he returned, Princess Zelda had practically begged him to take it, but the call of being a soldier was not something he found himself interested in.
ㅤWhich was another thing that weighed on his mind. Impa was at the Castle.
ㅤWhen he had inquired about Sheik's whereabouts, both women had looked particularly pained. When he pressed demanded actually for an answer, he had been reluctantly informed that Sheik had voluntarily taken on the role of Sage of Shadows. He doesn't think words had hit him that hard in quite a while, and he had nearly demanded to know why they'd let him do it. Yet, as he stood there, glancing between the Sheikah woman and the Princess he had figured it out. Princess Zelda didn't want to lose Impa and Impa—well, some thoughts were better left as thoughts.
ㅤLink had not properly learned about the Shadow Temple. He'd never learned where it was or what the warp song was, and try as he might he couldn't make the Ocarina of Time take him there without it. He did know that it was located in Kakariko Village, was had at least been a place to start.
ㅤAfter having Epona take him to the small settlement, he returned to Impa's house which he remembered Sheik using as a safe house when he was helping him on his journey. The place still had remnants of someone living there, books left open on a table and candles that had burned down entirely. He found some notes scattered across a desk that weren't written in Hylian and a few tunics stitched in places that were laying in a basket to be washed. Though it looked like someone had been gone a while, he saw bits of Sheik everywhere throughout it.
ㅤIf only he read Sheikah and could understand what in Goddesses name the man had written down.
ㅤHe was halfway through the bookshelf looking for something that might help him translate it when a shift in the atmosphere of the house broke his concentration. Turning a bit in place and reaching for the Gilded Sword on his back, his fingers curled tightly around the hilt and he waited—
ㅤㅤㅤonly to be met with a familiar shaped face.
Tumblr media
ㅤThe portal closed behind the other man and Link slowly released his grip on the blade, lowering his hand down to his side as the other one slid the book he was holding back into place. He blinked once, then again and tilted his head slightly.
ㅤ"You're… Sky, right?" A hesitation, a small step back taken. "What are you… doing here? I thought you went home. You didn't get lost again, did you?" How, in Hylia's name, does this man keep getting lost in time when Link was the Hero of Time?

I KNOW I just posted my other character sheet like two months ago, but I wasn’t happy with some of the art so i uhh yeah. This probably won’t get a ton of interaction bc of that but that’s okay. Here’s some of the refs I have been working on, full lineup probably not soon but I can have hope. Some lineart is from the old refs but that’s cuz I didn’t necessarily see anything wrong with them? But yeah. There will be more. Soon-to-be-on-the-lineup people will be under the cut. I’ll probably update and reblog this as I add characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the lineup: Bestir, Sheik, Link, Roomr, Valor, Remedy, Merry, Lore, Caprice, Ardor, Rutea, Ashei
Soon to be on the lineup (buckle up): Sable (sage), Kass (resistance), Penn (resistance), Malon (resistance), Shad (resistance), Linebeck (resistance), Paya (resistance), Auru (resistance/dead sage), Medli (dead sage), Mikau (dead sage), Darunia (dead sage), Saria (dead sage), Impa (dead sage), Dawne (dead sage), Rhoam (good king), Maldia (hyrule queen), Hilda (violet princess), Kolo (Gerudo shadow), Gemo (Goron shadow), Helm (Rito shadow), Wake (ancestor), Calamity (ancestor), Past (ancestor), Warden (ancestor), Major (ancestor), War (ancestor), Memory (ancestor, kinda), Vaati (villain >:}), Yuga (villain >:}), Zant (villain >:}), Ghirahim (villain >:})

Was Fierce Deity A Sheikah God?
Tumblr media
(Please note that this is my own personal theory and Idea! Its okay not to agree with it, just dont be hateful!)
Firstly,
Theres some obvious points about appearance, white hair of the deity and white hair of the sheikah. The sheikah are the only ones we've seen in the loz races to all have that trait (as well as the red eyes) so it would be a safe assumption for that trait to be shared with a deity who was modeled after/created before the sheikah. There is also the markings on the deity and how some parts can been seen as familiar to the sheikah's.
You can see a lot of the sheikah have red or blue tattoos (SS, hyrule warriors impa, botw paya having red, and botw impa having blue.) and most of these tattoos are where? on the forehead/face. Who else has similar coloured tattoos on those areas? The fierce deity!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Secondly,
It is also strange that the fierce deity, often seen as a war god/protector, is VERY well versed in martial arts! And what are the sheikah well know for? Being monk like figures with a great knowledge of training in the martial arts!
The Fierce Deity, one of the only reasons Link can defeat Majora in the ‘canon’ ending, is widely interpreted as a figure of great strength and physical abilities. It is likely that in his years, he has either taught the sheikah their fighting style or was the inspiration for it!
But, one of the more interesting parts is that the Mask is often described to have ‘dark powers’ and elements, which is also often associated with the Sheikahs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Bottom Screenshot is from hyrule Warriors wiki, the mask is consider apart of the ‘darkness element)
The shekiah are also very related with darkness/shadows, as the sages for these elements are (almost) always a sheikah! It is also considered that their magic is ‘dark/black magic’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There, of course, are things that don’t exactly fit in and some parts that are stretching/weak in the theory but overall, I think I have a good case, or at least the beginnings of one!

New Dedicated Blog For This Series
Sheik slinks between buildings - within the shades of stone walls that tower above. Ever so stealthy, they open the door to an abandoned house and creep inside.
Their body held tightly in stance, always alert to move at any given moment, slumps forward and retreats to the far end of the room to collapse on a bed. A heavy exhale pushes out of the warrior’s lungs.
A thick lulling takes over, allowing the exhaustion to take hold. Thoughts of Link and his awaiting quest weigh their mind.
‘He is so strong. To be so resilient through all of this. May the Goddess’ watch over him now.’
Shiek’s eyes go heavy. Their body falls into a complete state of rest, disarming their otherwise unhindering demeanor. They begin to fade into the sleep.
Thoughts of Link, thoughts of Impa - dance into phosphene clouds of color on the black canvas of dwindling consciousness.
We will succeed. The thought urges a courage in their heart. We will succeed.
Another heavy sigh escapes their mouth. ‘We’re not alone.’ The affirmation reminds their weary worry. They imagine all of the sages awakened in the Sacred Realm - awaiting their duty to strike down the Demon King.
The lull pulls deeper as their mind begins to soothe. The heart slows down.
“It’s about time we met, Sheikah.”
Sheik’s body startles to a scramble as a masculine form cages them in with a sword to the neck and a knee pinned against the spine. The stablizing grip of their right arm arches Sheik’s throat a hair’s distance from the blade.
There is a controlled stillness to the intruder. No further words come from the figure, so Sheik takes in what little detail they can from the arm stationed over their shoulder.
It is as dark as the shadows of the deepest corners of the room.
A phantom, Sheik assesses. Perhaps something that slinked out of the Shadow Temple when Bongo Bongo barged open their seal.
With no other choice but to remain calm and calculated, Sheik finds their center.
“Who are you,” Sheik asks plainly.
They snicker at the question with what sounds like a tinge of contempt.
“I am the Shadow of your arrogance, Princess.”
In a swift movement, the figure withdraws its grip and kicks Sheik from off the bed - knocking the breath out of them as they hit the floor with a thud.
Quick to recoil, Sheik twists their body up from the ground and into a defensive stance against the shadow.
Red eyes stare at red eyes. Sheik falters in bewilderment.
“A Sheikah?”
“No more than you are.” He grunts before charging forward, knocking his forearm against Sheik’s block and back into the wall.
Sheik juts their knee up into the torso of the shadow being, knocking it back into the middle of the room. In a swift-flowing movement, Shiek draws their daggers and lunges at him.
Blades clash and resist against each other’s strength.
“Ya know, I thought we would have met far earlier than this.” He growls. “You just keep on making me wait.”
Confusion begins to fall over the Sheikah with not only the shadow’s words but also the tone of his familiar voice.
His masculine strength overcomes Sheik's and wins, knocking them back onto the floor - knee pinned suffocatingly against their chest.
Again, placed at the mercy of the blade.
Another round of stillness. If the aim was to kill, they would be dead already.
Sheik’s eyes adjust to the dimness of the unlit room.
That blade…
Sheik’s eyes shift to peer directly upon the figure looming above, sharpening their focus on its features. Sheik’s heartbeat quickens, thrusting blood to drown their head with pulsing panic.
“...Link.” Sheik proclaims, viens flooding with concerned dread. “What happened to you?”
“I am not that fool.” speaks the phantom.
“But you know what… I am…” The figure slams the sword down the side of Sheik's head and through the slack of their cloak, tearing it into the wood of the floor. “- Significantly…angry. With you.”
He swings the sword to the side, leaving the shambles of the garment to fall away from Sheik’s face.
“Zelda….” The words hiss out slowly - like angry steam from a boiling pot with low water.
With her face exposed, she lies beneath the figure with shocked eyes that try to understand the situation.
“What happened to you.” She tries again.
“What happened.” The dark Link echoes eerily. “What happened is that I have had many years to finally catch up and truly understand how much you really fucked things.”
The being smirks upon a knowing thought. “...You deserved ending up in Ganondorf’s hands in the end…”
The shadow leans over to wrap his fingers around her neck, only gently applying pressure. “I wonder what he’s doing with you now.”
His face changes into a grimace as the thought processes - a combination of angers washing over it.
“What are you talking about?” The Sheikah implores, frozen to the ground at the end of his hands.
The shadowed form of the destined boy leans even further down so that his face is intimately close to the Sheikah.
“The timeline,” He whispers into her ear.  “-where your hero dies.”

Note
I wanted a sheikah champion in botw and a sage of shadow in totk. I understand that they were the ones who made the divine beasts and guardians, but you're gonna tell me you're not going to make a fifth divine beast just in case?? Huh?? Maybe a smaller version of the beasts who could travel into faron region, maybe being a snake divine beast... You have hylians represented by the princess and the zonai by the hero of the tapestry, you have the other four races represented but not the sheikah??? What, they're just the robots??
And the seven sages... I was surprised when I played totk and saw that there were no sage of forest nor sage of shadow! What do you mean sage of wind and sage of LIGHTNING?? You could just have the Gerudo represent spirit and their spirit can create thunder? Duh! Then there's Mineru. I like her ability to control her spirit, I understand why she's a sage of spirit... but look at the color palette, it's giving shadows!! Mineru being able to leave her body like a ghost could have justified her being sage of shadows! She could have even been able to possess constructs (or people) with her shadow or something??
Then we could have Paya as the sage of shadow, working along with not only Link, but Mineru too. Mineru could possess Paya and amplify her sage powera AND Paya could use her shadow to control the golem! There! Solution to the lack of sheikah sage!
Pd: shadows are not the same as darkness. Darkness is absoulte, a black void of endless infinity . Shadows on other hand only appear before light, even if you could say they cast obscurity, it can only exist because light gives it life! So it is a force of good, or at least of neutrality, like Impa herself in ocarina of time.

Some things that happen in either the main plot/lore of my Twilight Princess retelling that I’m working on
Zelda had two older brothers
Link and Midna are mortal avatars of the Sun God and Moon Goddess
Link becomes a champion of the God of Darkness
The Cave of Shadows is a trial set up by said God to see if Link is worthy of his power
The Sheikah are not a species, but members multiple races who followed the same faith
Impa from Ocarina of Time taught the Hero of Time the hidden skills
She was also married
Satori from Breath of the Wild was a wedding gift to Impa from the God of Darkness
Majora and Midna are distantly related
The Hero of Time took part in the Interloper War. On the side of the Interlopers.
Stallord used to be a dragon that fought alongside the Interlopers in the war
Ganondorf used to be a normal, friendly guy who was killed by the demon king, who then took his form.
The oocca normally look a lot more majestic, but were cursed to look they way they do in game
When Link and Midna are looking for the Master Sword, the sword radiates a blue aurora
A character gets into a shouting match with the Sages. Link and Midna awkwardly watch.
During the second half of their journey, provided no one was around, Midna usually stayed outside of Link’s shadow

▲ Back with more of my LoZ au/original content. My first post on this can be found here !
In between suffering with my MA, I've been working on a lineup of the 'cast' for my LoZ original. This not exhaustive, as obviously we're still missing a Rito and a Goron. They'll be listed below from right to left :3
My Zelda story serves as a catalyst for the Hyrulean Civil War that precedes Ocarina of Time. It is a period referred to as the Era of Division and the great war at the end is the Tricenary War or the Queen's War.
Pashato & Dahri | Captain and Royal Scribe
Ganondorf's elder half-sisters, born of a different Hylian man. Their shared mother was Chieftain Rutimala. Dahri is the eldest, making her second in line to the Gerudo throne.
Pashato is the captain of the Gerudo guard and a valiant, recognized fighter. She oversees Ganondorf's armies directly and the training of Gerudo forces. She passes away in the final assault on Hyrule.
Dahri is the royal scribe and muralist, serving somewhat as a lady in waiting for Riar'svah. She would eventually become chieftain after Ganondorf's death and Riar'svah's short-lived role as chieftain. She would go on to become the Heroine of Gentleness/Compassion.
Kotake & Koume, Twinrova | Elder Witches
The elder witches to the Gerudo empire. They hold the seat of magic in the Gerudo governmental structure, intended to advise and aid the king but they specifically teach him magic in his youth. When they fuse, they form the Gerudo Twinrova.
Both are worshippers of the primordial evil, known simply to the Gerudo as Malice. (Mal'hice)
They endorsed the war with Hyrule, hoping it would bring the Triforce pieces together for Ganondorf's victory. When Ganondorf dies on the battlefield, the witches encourage the Gerudo to keep fighting and for Riar'svah to use her last resort.
Tatu | Steward of the Sword
Tatu tends to the Great Deku Tree and is privately understood as the keeper of the Master Sword. Though she is not a sage, she often sits on the council of sages as an advisory position.
She accompanies Link in his trials through the Lost Woods, searching for the Master Sword at Queen Zelda's behest.
As a Kokiri, her childish appearance can be deceptive but she is very wise and compassionate.
During the Tricenary War, she remains in the Lost Woods, protecting the Great Deku Tree and other Kokiri.
Parrane | Sage of Shadow
Parrane is a sibling of the royal advisor and defender, Impa. His work with the Hyrule royal family is mostly through his sister and his maintenance of the Shadow Temple.
As the sage of shadow, Parrane is gifted with the manipulation of shadows but this skill is highly tepid as he prefers to lean into the illusionary element of his sagely abilities. He can obscure both the physical and the mental upon touch and can create shadow apparitions to demonstrate events that have happened or visualize what he speaks of.
During the war, Parrane is the one who leads the Sheikah into battle alongside Queen Zelda.
After the war, he remains in the Hyrule royal court, outliving his queen and her hero into the next generation. There, he would be a main advocate for a unified Hyrule and would be the first to see the Shadow Temple be utilized as a torture institution.
Malan | Sage of Water
Hailing from the sea Zora, Malan holds the special place in Zora court life of Musician, playing for Jabu-Jabu to keep the patron god peaceful. However, his job is not just playing soothing harp music but to also defend the temple that protects the gardens and waters of Jabu-Jabu.
His king and queen, Inogo and Lala, believe their daughter, Ruti, to be the sage when Queen Zelda calls for the sages. Malan is recognized as the sage by Zelda on a diplomatic mission, visiting Jabu-Jabu's temple and upon hearing him play a certain tune.
Malan is awoken as sage manually by Zelda, who touches his hand.
His sagely abilities are hydrokinesis, manipulated through his trident or his hands. Often through song, he can cast powerful spells that can call on downpours, storms, and purge evil from someone.
While he survives the war, Malan returns to the Zora beaten. He is eventually exiled Jabu-Jabu's temple by the royals who align themselves completely with Hyrule.
Though he appears in some ancient reliefs, Malan's identify is lost to much of Zora history.
Ganondorf | Demon King & King of the Gerudo
Ganondorf is the relentless king of the Gerudo, his coming foretold by the 100 year cycle, preceded by the great King Naboris. He is raised by Kotake and Koume after his mother, Chieftain Rutimala is slain in battle by the Hylians. In his youth, he was taught dark magics and spells long passed down from one Gerudo leader to another. He is recognized as the Vessel of Malice.
Being the Vessel, he is regarded as the Demon King, able to transform into a large lion-like boar and wield immense magic. He suffers from bursts of unconsolable rage, destruction, and mania.
This Ganondorf is bestowed the Triforce of Power after the Triforce is shattered upon Zirda's death.
He wages war against Hyrule and her allies, a war passed down to him by his foremothers. He yearns for the land and resources of Hyrule, refusing all early diplomatic efforts by the young Queen Zelda.
Despite being highly prideful and arrogant, Ganondorf has a tender spot for that of his people, leaning on the advice of his mothers, Riar'svah, and his sisters Pashato and Dahri.
His final battle against Hyrule in the Tricenary War is an attempted and succeeded besiegement of Hyrule Castle. Unable to stop it, he transforms into a beast stronger, larger, and more animalistic than that of the form he could control. Malice's monster, he is slain by the Hero's sword and his spirit eradicated by the Queen's light.
After his death, he is immortalized in Gerudo facades and carvings. Some Gerudo historians and royals question who he is, his face lost to time like many other Gerudo kings until Ocarina of Time, when the name graces the history pages once more. He is the second to last king before Ganondorf proper, each 100 years apart from time of death.
Naboris -> Ganondorf -> ??? -> Ganondorf OOT
Riar'svah | Sage of Spirit
Born six months before the prince, Riar'svah was raised secluded in the Spirit Temple by her mother, the previous spiritual leader of the Gerudo, Palu. After taking on her mother's role, she enters the Gerudo Fortress proper. Her role is similar to that of an Ottoman Şeyhülislam.
Riar'svah and Kotake/Koume disagree and fight constantly, mostly due to Riar'svah finding Malice a dangerous force to be dealing with or encouraging.
Her role as a sage warranted some concern amongst her people, with many believing she would betray the Gerudo and Ganondorf to serve Hylia's agents. However, she remains steadfast in supporting the Gerudo above all else.
Her sagely gifts are specifically that of prophesying and channeling divine spirits into her body to grant her immense astral powers. She mostly prophesies and meditates on Ganondorf's behalf, communicating with deities for and declaring prophetic words to him.
After Ganondorf's death at the hands of the Hero and Queen, Riar'svah becomes Gerudo chieftain, waging brutal war against Hyrule. At the encouragement of Kotake and Koume, swarmed in grief, she makes a deal with Malice.
She dies atop the Gerudo Highlands, legend says she turned to stone, becoming one with the geography.
Zelda | Queen of Hyrule & Hylia's Descendant
Zelda becomes queen after the death of her father, Rhoam, who reigned as regent after Zirda's passing. From a young age, Zelda knew she was the savior of Hyrule, a burden she's carried with her.
Her Hyrule-first mentality grows only stronger after the murder of her mother and the death of her father, fueling her to rule Hyrule with an iron fist and determined hope.
She attempts many diplomatic missions and alliance reconstructions with the Gerudo and her failures pile atop one another.
She is close friends with the Hero and she views her sages as divine-inspired guardians. Impa is like a second mother to her.
Gifted by the Goddess, Zelda is proficient in light and time magic. She can prophesy at sacred locations, seal/subdue darkness, and can craft light weapons such as the light arrow.
The Triforce of Wisdom sits on her hand, appearing when her mother died.
With Ganondorf slain and Link injured, Zelda is torn. She returns to the battlefield to face a vengeful Riar'svah. Armed with the Master Sword and the power of the Goddesses, Zelda charges.
Her battle with the Gerudo sage was a pure demonstration of Hylia and Demise at odds. While she is in turmoil about creating such rage-filled sorrow, Zelda beats Riar'svah back to the Highlands.
Her only son would be four generations before the Hyrulean Civil War.
Link | Hero of Courage
From the depths of Faron, Link is a Lurelin Hylian. His parents were retired sea farers. When the Triforce of Courage appeared on his hand at a young age, he was surrendered to Hyrule Castle, destined to become the Hero.
Abandoned, Link trained ruthlessly under the royal guard, often isolated from much of everyone to preserve the courage and heroic purity of the Hero.
While he does not necessarily struggle with accepting he is the Hero of Courage, it is isolating and his village becomes that of strangers for they treat him with such reverence when their used to be friendship.
He becomes very close to Zelda during their youth and their friendship transcends mortal relationships.
When his training is deemed complete by the sages and Impa, Link is sent to the Lost Woods to unleash the Master Sword. When he does, he will carry this sword into the final battle with the Demon King. Upon his return, he is paraded throughout Hyrule Castle Town and Castle.
Link defeats Ganondorf in battle but is mortally wounded in the process. Rushed back to Hyrule Castle, he is tended to in fervent vain by the Queen and her surviving Sages. However, when Riar'svah violently storms Hyrule, he is left to suffer alone.
Though he survives, Link is mute from the damages suffered.
Zirda | Former Queen of Hyrule & Sage of Light
Deceased queen of Hyrule, Zirda reigned with a soft but iron fist, working towards unification of Hyrule under the Loftwing banner. Seated at the head of the council of sages, she urged unity but found it fell on deaf ears.
Zirda had tense relations with the previous Gerudo chieftain, Rutimala.
She is fatally wounded in battle, dying days after. This leaves the throne to her husband, Rhoam, with her early teenage daughter, Zelda, rushing to prepare for the throne. Her death was a shock to the Hylian geopolitical scene, encouraging the sages to rally their respective people to join, save for the Gerudo and Rito sages.
As sage, Zirda could manipulate and control sources of light and light itself, known to illuminate the dark and shine light on lies. Gifted by the Goddesses, she could also conjure powerful beams, shields, swords, and arrows of light.
She was the sole holder of the Triforce. Upon her death, the Triforce saw no befitting wielder and split, landing upon the Goddesses' divine players: Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf.

I love writing my crossover fanfic. Like
At first I was just kind like "I mean yeah I guess you could put Link as a stand in for Artoria for Fate Stay Night" and through writing the fanfic I kinda sat and did a lot of comparing and was like "Hey wait a minute."
///WARNING: AUTISTIC RAMBLE THE LIKES OF HUMANITY HAS NEVER SEEN BEFORE DOWN BELOW///
Like first off, let's compare Link and Artoria. Alright, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way.
Blonde
Fair Eyes
Carries a conceptually powerful holy sword
But let's dig a little deeper
They both somewhat regret carrying their respective holy sword. For Artoria, on the eve of her death she wishes so much to change the fate of herself and Britain that she makes a pact with the world itself to be able to even have a chance to change this fate.
Link, consequently resents being a hero, or at the very least that could very well be implied. See, Link only pulls that sword out because Zelda tells him to. He goes through seven levels of hell just to save her and slay Ganon.
He is a changed man. A few days ago (or probably more, considering that multiple days, maybe even weeks or months can go by if you do all the side quests) he was just a ten year old boy trying to do his best and save people.
Now, he's suffered and done so much, all in the name of being a hero. He has seen so much shit. He's had to see the forest he called home fall to monsters. He's had to reconcile with the fact that his big sister figure, Saria has ascended to a higher plane to a place he can't access, so he'll never see her again. Same goes for Darunia, Ruto (by the way, how do you think he coped after figuring out what fiancé meant just to lose said fiancé?), Impa, Nabooru.
He finally gets all the medallions, he saves everyone, he does their little side quests, and with full health, protection from the Great Fairies, and Master Sword in tow, he slays Ganon.
The Seven Sages seal him away in the Sacred Realm, and all is right in the world.
But no. Not really. No it's not. Zelda sends him back. To get a proper childhood that was robbed of him.
It doesn't take a genius to tell the holder of Wisdom that things just don't work like that.
He's changed.
But he doesn't have a choice. So he's sent back. He probably shit stomps the bosses that once gave him decent trouble as a child, and with enough time to spare, he goes to the castle, Triforce of Courage in tow and exposes the plots Ganondorf had. Hooray! All is solved! But... No it's not.
Sure, several years later, they finally capture and put down Ganondorf. They bring him to the Arbiter's Grounds, and plan to execute him.
Twilight Princess shows how this goes down. It goes poorly. Ganondorf breaks from his bonds and kills the Sage of Water. (Boy, I wonder who the Sage of Water is? Surely it couldn't be the Zora Princess? Link's possible fiancee?)
They don't even manage to finish Ganondorf off, they send his ass to the literal shadow realm. Zelda's plan was so piss poor that it didn't even work.
He's so steeped in regret after a life of suffering, that he becomes a shadow of his former self. He becomes the Hero's Shade. Where do you first encounter him? Faron Woods. Near the Lost Woods and Sacred Grove where the Master Sword waits. Homeboy became a Stalfos!
Even worse, the Hero's Shade has battle damage on his armor. It's quite possible he was injured badly enough that he went back home to lay down and die.
One thing about animals, but especially canines in general. When they know they're dying, they'll move to find a quiet place to die. What form does the shade take first before you fight him in a form? A wolf, just like Twilight Princess Link takes.
A dog. An animal usually depicted as an animal of servitude.
A life steeped in regret, after pulling a sword from a stone that changes the trajectory of the wielder's life forever. Sound familiar?
Can I also say, it's hilarious that conceptually, both have swords that are fucking stupid levels of strong?
The Master Sword is a holy sword made by the goddess of the entire planet, reforged by the flames of dragons and is the blade of evil's bane. It conceptually, just drives away evil, specifically the evil of one fucking guy for all eternity.
Excalibur is the Sword of Promised Victory, made by the fairies, which might as well be gods in the Nasuverse and is made with the breath of the planet. Not unlike the Master Sword. Both swords are so overpowered it's almost funny.
—————————————
And that's not even touching on the similarities that Link and Shirou or rather, Shiroko have in this fanfic.
Link and Shiroko are both people saved from flames caused by a war, either figurative or literal.
Their birth parents are dead, and they are saved and raised by a single father.
Said father is later killed by a curse when Link/ Shiroko is around ten-ish
Because of suffering through their respective tragedies, either known or unknown, they're ostracized either by choice or by others.
Link is ostracized as a result of being different. He's just different. He has no fairy. He's not like any other Kokiri. He ages. He grows old. He's not like them. He's different, so they don't post him much mind.
Shiroko ostracizes herself because she was old enough to remember the tragedy that befell her original family, and even then, she represses it so hard she forgets what even actually happened.
The Great Deku Tree is killed by Gohma and Kiritsugu is killed by the lingering damage from The Grail/ Angra Mainyu. By the way, very poignant that both are dead men by the time their problems are solved.
Both have an older sister figure that will constantly look young and beautiful and such. Link has Saria and Shiroko has Illyasviel.
Ironically, on different ends of the spectrum of affection. Saria has nothing but love for Link, and treats him with every ounce of support she has m can give. Whereas Illyasviel has resentment and hate towards Shiroko for living a life she should have, making her obsessed with Shirou.
Both older loli bait big sister figures ascend to a higher plane/ or die to assist their respective protag at one point or another. Saria awakens as a Sage, and Illyasviel uses the Third Magic and deactivates the Grail to save Shiroko during Heaven's Feel.
Both have a girl obsessed with them for one act of kindness. Link has Ruto and Shiroko has Sakura.
Also it's funny that both Shirou and OoT Link get a game like a year after their respective games that involves time loop bullshit to fight an evil that possesses people and is so ancient it barely has form and just wants to watch the world burn.
Ganondorf wanted to rule the world with an iron fist.
Angra Mainyu and Majora just want to watch the world burn. All they know anymore is hate. It's so conditioned to them after years being a vessel for it, that they just don't care anymore. They want to destroy the world and have fun doing it!
————————
Anyway go peep my fanfic if you enjoyed this ramble
