Saint Albert

Notre Albert est un allemand du XIIIeme siècle. On va pas se mentir c'est un intello, il étudie en Italie, en France et en Allemagne. Ensuite il devient prof, tout le monde se l'arrache et il fonde une école de théologie à Cologne pour les frères dominicains. Et dans ses élèves il y a un certain Thomas d'Aquin, qui sera quand même un peu connu chez les cathos.

Son inspi vient des philosophes arabes et des trad d'Aristote dont il fait des commentaires de texte. A l'époque le gars n'était pas trop connu alors ça avait un attrait de nouveauté les gens kiffaient bien. Et personne n'hurlait au plagia.

Avec tout ça notre Albert se fait sa petite place dans les hautes sphères, il devient même lecteur auprès de la Curie romaine. Et on ne sait pas pourquoi un jour le pape s'enflamme et le nomme évêque de Ratisbonne. Bon par respect Albert prend le poste mais au bout de 3 ans le pape voit bien que c'est pas son truc et il le laisse démissionner.

On lui donne pour mission de retourner en Allemagne prêcher le catholicisme en langue allemande. Il en profite pour faire une "petite" encyclopédie en 26 volumes de la faune et de la flore d'Europe du Nord. Ouais on s'occupe comme on peut. Parce que figurez vous qu'à l'époque la zoologie c'est une branche de la théologie ! Ouais en fait les animaux on les étudie juste pour les symboles divins qu'ils représentent quoi. Ce qu'ils mangent, où ils vivent, comment ils se reproduisent, on s'en tapait un peu. Pas des défenseurs de la cause animale quoi^^

Et puis sur la fin de sa vie drama, son petit Thomas d'Aquin meurt, il est inconsolable. Et à Paris les théologiens s'embrouillent sur les philosophes grecs et arabes. Vanné il meurt à Cologne où il est enterré à la basilique saint André.

Il est docteur de l'église et saint patron des savants chrétiens. On l'appelle d'ailleurs Albert le grand ou Maître Albert. Excusez nous du peu.

More details of the Bruin Centre. Built in 2001, and designed in the same Mission style honouring the former Bruin Inn, which originally occupied this site at the intersection of Perron Street and St. Anne Street, St. Albert, Alberta. • The Bruin Inn was built in 1929 by Architect William G. Blakey who also designed some recognizable Edmonton buildings: Central -Masonic Temple, Garneau Theatre, the old Edmonton Journal building and the Christ Church in Oliver. At one time liquor laws in Edmonton prohibited men and women from drinking together in public. As a result, in the 1940s, couples and servicemen would travel to St. Albert from Edmonton and surrounding areas. They would have to wait in long lines outside the Bruin Inn in order to share a drink. The Bruin Inn became the place to share a drink. There were separate entrances for men and women, but they essentially led into the same room. It wasn’t until 1967 that men and women were once again allowed to drink together in bar rooms in the rest of the province. The Bruin Inn survived for 70 years and despite efforts to save the building, it was demolished in 1999.
