New au just dropped 😎
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sweet as Candy or SaC for short is a wreck it Ralph inspired au(crossover??? Ig?? Idk)
Bots and humans coexist, maybe flurries too and or candy people but idk I still have to plan out the plot fully,
What I have now is basically: Sun, Moon, and Y/n are childhood friends turned rivals as they each compete to win nationals
They're all professional racers mainly for go-karts but each have more personal favorite types of racing. Suns are karts, Moons are racecars and y/ns are motor bikes
The story would be mostly a slice of life following S M and Y/Ns shenanigans as they snarkily tease each other and train for nationals while also secretly pining for each other
But that's not all fun and games, as a science experiment underground goes haywire, causing a rampage.
The cybugs emerged, mechanical bug like bots with only three goals, kill, consume, multiply.
They wreaked havoc, destroying all in their path.
Some managed to defend against the beasts and find shelter, others though..

My beloved wife got super into baking during the pandemic. We have always loved and bonded over Bake Off. These two things culminated in my beloved being gifted with Paul Hollywoods cook book on bread. He’s the bread king, right? Must know how to make good bread?
Readers. Paul Hollywoods cookbook.
I don’t know if it was laziness or mistranslation but when converting the units to our stupid empirical measuring system someone done Fucked Up.
It doesn’t help that Mr. Paulywood is already very spare with his instruction and method. It called for an absolutely absurd amount of yeast, first off. About three times as much yeast as a reasonable person would need to make bread rise but perhaps Mr. Hollywood is compensating.
Next it wanted an egregious amount of salt. Both of us paused over the measurement, hesitating to get on board with such a high salt content. But he’s Mr Bread so we went with it, opting not to tweak the recipe until we’d tried it his way at least once.
It. Was. Awful.
Truly the most repulsive bread either of us had ever had. The loaf was dubbed Paul’s Salty Mess and lives in infamy to this day.
It took two more bakes for my beloved to actually find a proportion of ingredients that was actually agreeable to consume. This involved researching the difference between UK and US yeast which I think we can all agree the editor should have done, as well as finding the the metric recipe on Paul's website to compare. Even the non-fucked up one was still egregiously salty.
The recipe is now highly annotated and the rest of the book regarded with suspicion.

I feel like a solid 75% of discourse around the Jedi wouldn’t exist if people just factored in that they’re monks.
It feels like half of y’all don’t consider that maybe being a Jedi really is just incompatible with a lot of things that are a normal part of other people’s lives… Because they are monks.
We had a whole trilogy showing how Anakin wanting to have his cake and eat it too led to disaster and people really came out thinking, “the Jedi should’ve just let Anakin be married,” not, “Anakin was a selfish moron who ruined literally everyone’s lives because he couldn’t accept that he had to make a choice.”

Fantasy archeologist/treasure hunter desperately trying to find a cursed object that would “accidentally” transform her into some horrific monster, but every item she finds just has like a spirit haunting it. So now she just has a massive ghost polycule following her around and hyping her up every time she opens another really old urn that she swears is going to give her wings this time, just to find another soul that’s way too sassy about dying to her dragon gf sitting on her face

in other news, i still hate the 'curse' demise says being seen as a literal thing so widely, like he is somehow powerful enough to bend the world to that cycle and even the gods being helpless against it (unless they want it or even orchestrated it but that option never comes up does it), its never even considered to perhaps not be real, like its a literal law of the zelda world, imo its pretty boring itself and also boring as an explanation for the cycle and most often really only gets used to or talked about to make ganondorf be just a helpless evil guy that is born evilly bc he is cursed and if you took away tha demon juice he would side with hyrule and be good tm (a side effect being that people think he is the actual reincarnation of demise like zelda is supposedly of hylia which also sucks IMO) .... or to make demise some sort of puppet master, which i hate even more no .. no i hate that the most (bc it makes ganondorf a puppet and demise the evil demon master and thus ruins both my favs yippie)

Such a shame that Carlos Diehz wasn’t eligible for the Sag Award for best ensemble bc of their stupid fucking rules…
He’s such a pivotal part of the movie and he has been ignored all awards season and it breaks my heart
I understand there’s rules and he’s a newcomer and maybe focusing on him could probably spoil some of the movie
But still!! It sucks!!

Cullen knows embroidery, that's a fact. You aren't a middle child of a rural family with multiple sisters and not know how to stitch and embroider.
It's probably one of the few things from his childhood he tries to remember, to retain. Whenever his lyrium withdraws gets his fingers antsy, he uses that energy and just starts a piece. It keeps him grounded. It helps him remember more happier memories.

not going to go be mean to OP on their own post but I just saw a post that was like "the apothecary diaries are so unique because they showcase politics and the harem from a woman's perspective and what the concubines and consorts go through and the emperor isn't even there bc he's not the point that NEVER happens in mainstream media" and I just had to. pause for a second here because.
You mean??? you mean??? the palace harem drama genre??? the Chinese genre that...this Japanese anime/manga is paying homage to?
Like, I'm sure this is unique among anime in some sense. And OP has probably never seen a palace harem/inner court drama before because I get the sense that OP doesn't really watch Chinese media, but it is absolutely buckwild bonkers as a statement to me.
Like, no bro, we. we do have. lots of shows. and books. about this. the inner court drama. the harem drama. the courtyard drama. the family drama. you see this in the corners of almost any historical cdrama you care to pick up that ain't a wuxia or a xianxia and sometimes even then????
anyway. Just. [stares off into space]

i think that the two different takes on opening narration in fma unintentionally tell you so much
in 03, the narration happens before the opening on every episode - except episodes 1 and 51 - and it's mostly the same every time. al's voice gives a textbook definition of equivalent exchange before connecting it to his and ed's life, and it's said over music, with images of pictures of the boys as they grow up, which are slowly taken away by an encroaching fire. it's grounded and personal and becomes very familiar, then the show then changes this narration in the final season (in the dub they even change it to be ED narrating instead of al), adding more intense drums in the background, and adding a picture of ed and al as we currently know them at the end. it's a consistent repeating pattern that you can come to expect, so when it does change, like at the beginning of the final season or when the final episode cuts straight to the opening, you're like, oh shit! things are getting intense! and when the final episode wraps up with al quoting the exact thing he's been saying at the beginning of every episode, but this time coming to a different conclusion, it's such a nice bookend
brotherhood meanwhile has an opening narration by the unseen narrator giving a textbook definition of alchemy before stating that human transmutation is forbidden. it's cut with very literal imagery and a choir singing in the background. it's authoritative yet disconnected from the reality of the show -- these images we see are completely non-diagetic, with visuals of DNA strands, alchemy circles, and even pictures of ed and al just floating in space, whereas the 03 portraits (and voices) are characters and settings that we know. and worst of all, it only shows up during the first season and never again. it's not consistent enough to become familiar, and they never do anything interesting with it since it drops off before we ever even see the second opening, so it just leaves you wondering... what was the point of having it in the first place?
i know i'm totally biased but to me these are just smaller examples of a broader difference between the two; 03 is more intimate and subtle with its smaller details, while bh is bombastic and flashy but quickly loses its steam

More rambling lol
So with Solar killing the creator, the families reaction kinda bothered me ngl. Solar killed the creator out of anger, without telling anyone, which lead to huge consequences to him and the family. Just like Sun & Lunar. Except the family reacted differently to this. When Sun killed Bloodmoon, he ended up getting locked away by Moon, who heavily disagreed with the whole killing thing and just left him there. Sun later indirectly leads to Moon death. When Lunar killed Eclipse, he was basically separated from the family (the only person to really help him through that time was Solar, but multiple times throughout that, we see him alone in his apartment, so idk if Solar was really there all that much) and had to go on trial and was in huge trouble with the astrals. Yet when Solar kills the creator, the family doesn’t care? Like what happened to “don’t kill people guys.” And it can’t be that it’s because the Creator was bad and they all hated him. None of the family liked Bloodmoon, same with Eclipse. This show is really weird with when and when it isn’t okay to kill the bad guys. It’s okay for some people to kill others, but when others do it “OH NO, why would you do that? That was horrible.”
Also, quick question. Why did none of the family (except for Solar) check up on Lunar after he killed Eclipse? Like he was definitely not doing good and probably shouldn’t have been left alone, and yet no one was really there. Sun and Moon (well Nexus ig, but he was Moon at the time) never checked up on him for like anything. When he got attacked by Bloodmoon, neither of them physically checked up on him. We know that they cared because we saw that, but Lunar doesn’t. They just asked if he was okay to Earth and then never checked up on him. It’s stupid. It kinda feels like they never wanted him around, at least for Nexus. The dude would rather build a secret bodyguard to watch over Lunar, instead of y’know, inviting him to live with Sun and Moon and keeping an eye on him?! Like it makes sense that Lunar developed the whole “why should I help when it’s gonna be fixed in a week” thing, cause both Sun and Moon never really checked up on him when he was going through something. Only Solar and Earth did (as usual, the reward of best family members goes to them).

saying angel is the wrong kind of traumatized and is too sexual and offensive is a spit in the face of trauma victims who see some of their behaviors reflected in him. Just FYI. your way of dealing with your trauma is not universal and people's hatred of hypersexual trauma victims is fucking disgusting and your purity culture origins are showing. You're apparently only allowed to never want anything to do with sex if you're traumatized by a sexual event. (:
This is like the biggest gotcha point people who rabidly hate the show use and god is it retraumatizing to see how you think of victims who don't behave how you think they should.
