Your robins suck :/ I know you're trying to diversify them and all that but like. You literally stripped them of everything that made them *them*. Your Dick is okay. I can see that face being young and cute and being a star, it's just not very... romani for me. Your Jason looks like a school bully who wouldn't know the difference between a coconut and an almond and I hate it. You ruined him the most for me and I don't even like the dude. You made him start balding, made him a huge hulk hunk and if he was like that in cannon I'd understand why he'd be bitchless. Your Tim gives off the vibe of a pretentious asshole. Which. Yeah ok Tim really is a pretentious asshole, but he's still popular in school. This creep looks like he'd be telling on you to his mommy and daddy for you punching his very deserved face in the nose. Your Damian looks like a dwarf. Why blue eyes. He just looks like he has anger at everything in the world when in truth he's even MORE pretentious than Tim. A new sculpture! Finally... I feel like I never sculpt anymore since I'm always sick or have some 500 other things going on or projects to finish, but I'm trying to schedule time to do it more often this year hopefully..! Just a generic fantasy creature as usual, but did try making the eyes a little more sparkly this time.. hrmm..

I was inspired by Ryōko Kui's Dungeon Meshi artwork, especially her grids of each fantasy race, and wanted to do something similar for my original species in Other Skies. I felt it would be a good challenge and would be useful to future players, since it shows a variety of folk from each species.

In order from top to bottom, this set includes Santornans, Lunestrians, and Laranthians.

I tried to include multiple ages, genders, and body types in each one. It's been quite fun so far! My plan is to post them in sets of 3 until all 9 species are represented.

So I know you talked about how to avoid same face syndrome (which was super helpful btw!)

Do you have any tips for how to do avoid it in furry characters that are all the same species (ex: foxes)

I'm having trouble making my characters all look different and not reuse design choices over and over, like noses, ears, snouts, etc.

Ooh I do indeed!

So basically I'd approach it the same way I approach human faces: Each feature gets a cluster, and all the while I'm thinking about each character's age as well as the kind of shape symbolism that would fit them. For the sake of speed, I'll base these example foxes on characters I already have.

But if you want the characters to resemble a specific animal, it's important to keep their proportions similar to that animal's. A drawing of a fox doesn't look like a fox if its ears are too small, or its snout is too short. (Reference image here.)

look i get it. oda tends to draw women Like That. it is NOT everyone's cup of tea and i understand. this includes efforts by other artists to redesign the ladies into something not so horny.

but sometimes there's an overcorrection into something that doesn't quite align with the characters. i think Oda has the right idea in making a lot of his women smoking fucking hot and any drawing made to capture, say, Nami or Robin shouldn't be afraid to make them beautiful!!!

this isn't to push against the idea of humanizing the designs, such as stretch marks, body hair, or god forbid normal human proportions. this is just a sign to any artists and fans of one piece to not feel bad about being artistically horny for the girls. they are for the lesbians and i for one love how even divorcing them from oda's designs you can still feel so much love for them through the frankly genius writing
