Idk if it's just me but like. Whenever I see someone who wasn't a part of the homestuck fandom at its peak totally lambast homestuck and it's fandom, I go fucking feral. I go wild, teeth gnashing, eyes red — angry.

Bc like. They always say some shit like "They put sharpies in a bathtub!! They did destruction of property!! Did you forget???"

No. I didn't forget. I was there, in real time, as part of the other 90% of the fandom going "WOAH HEY THERE PLS DONT DO THAT!" Like??? Yes, ofc, we have the right to criticize the shithive maggots things homestucks did in the early 2010s, but!!! The people who weren't there only see The Headlines! They only see the ABSOLUTE WORST parts of the fandom.

Yes, homestucks were truly unhinged back in the day, but they were also like. Idk. A community? I can't list EVERY SINGLE PIECE of incredible, breathtaking art that has been created in response to homestuck. I can't quantify the amount of lifelong friends that have been made as a direct result of homestuck. I can't explain the sheer *amount* of comfort granted by the first piece of media to EVER truly reflect the flip-phone generation.

Yes, you can name a handful of truly unhinged, awful things homestucks did, but I can probably name more transmascs that I know personally who named themselves Dave. The three people I am closest to in the whole world (including my husband) I met as a direct result of homestuck.

Do I think we can criticize the fandom? Really dig into the meat and dissect all the bullshit?? Yes, and I think it woukd be beneficial to do so. However, it absolutely crushes me that a community that meant so much to so many people is remembered by its worst parts.

Homestuck paved the way for fandom as we experience it now, and its horrific fucking reputation is so heartbreaking. Idk. I could talk about this shit for hours.

Hello everyone! There are a lot of new faces here so I think it’s time for a reintroduction:

I’m Sights! I’m 35. years old and I use any pronouns. I literally don’t care enough to choose! I’m a married, stay-at-home parent of two. Before that, I was a Registered Nurse for 6 or so years. I’m chronically ill, and I only mention this because the monitoring, treatment, fatigue and other associated symptoms make up a huge part of my day to day life.

I’ve been writing since I was a child. It’s definitely my “purpose,” if there is such a thing. I love all things spooky, monstrous, and disgusting. I write for most of the slashers, as well as inhuman creatures, aliens, the supernatural, etc. If you’re curious about something, don’t hesitate to send me an ask!

Commissions are always open. Requests are rarely open. However, I will reblog a few writing prompt lists or games here and there so keep your eyes peeled!
