There is such a privilege in being a new artist in San Diego. The reason I say this is because opportunities to perform are everywhere and so accessible. These small venues are more than just open mic nights, or bars with a few regulars lingering. They offer an experience that is intimate but lively.
Tumblr media
One of the venues that is doing it so well is Humble Heart in Ocean Beach (OB). This place is a thrift store by day and indie rock stage by night. Thrift stores are incredibly trendy in this day and age especially in southern California. People love to feel that they are making a difference in buying recycled clothing, and not to mention, at usually significantly lower prices. This trend is especially big among the indie crowd. What better an idea to combine the two. This place is super accessible for newer and smaller artists who are looking to play in a live setting with both familiar and new faces.
Ocean beach is home to another great local venue for up and coming artists, The Holding Company (THC). THC has a similar vibe to BellyUp in that it is intimate, yet has an extremely lively atmosphere. It is a few blocks away from Humble Heart so it is on the popular strip in OB.
Tumblr media
Both of these venues are super accessible for those who are looking to play a local, lively, fun show. OB also has a culture of street performing that is very eclectic. Every Wednesday night during the farmers market, there is always people playing with their bands along with the iconic drum circle. OB is a great place for a very unique music culture that San Diego is well known for.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Replumbing Your House with PEX
Tumblr media
Replumbing your house with PEX or cross-linked polyethylene is to give an upgrade to your plumbing system. With the benefits of water flow improvement and leakage reduction, many residents opt for PEX plumbing systems. Considering the material quality, PEX is a flexible, durable, and cost-effective alternative, now regarded better than copper and PVC pipes. However, for replumbing your house with PEX, many precautions are required, to avoid any pitfalls. This blog explains some of the most common mistakes homeowners make when undertaking a PEX project and how to avoid them. By understanding these pitfalls, and following best practices, you can ensure a successful and trouble-free transition to PEX plumbing.
Inadequate Planning and Design
An exhaustive plan and design should be prepared, before you start tearing out old pipes or purchase PEX materials. Consider the layout of your home, the location of fixtures, and the pipe runs required. Ensure your plan complies with local building codes. Consult a professional plumber or engineer can be invaluable in designing an efficient and code-compliant system before planning re-plumbing your house with PEX.
Using the Wrong type of PEX
Three most commonly used PEX are PEX-A, PEX-B and PEX-C. They have their own advantages and installation methods. As per your needs and budget, choose that suits your home.
PEX-A is known for its flexibility and durability, while PEX-B and PEX-C are more budget-friendly. Select the appropriate PEX type for your specific application.
Improper Pipe Sizing
Pipe size is an important criteria during selection of the PEX pipes. Calculate the correct pipe size to maintain water flow. Undersized pipes lead to reduced water pressure, while oversized pipes are less efficient, and can result in longer wait times for hot water. Before starting re-plumbing your house with PEX, refer to plumbing codes or consult a professional to determine the accurate pipe size for each branch and fixture in your system.
Incorrect Crimping or Fittings
Properly crimping PEX connections is critical to prevent leaks. Invest in a high-quality crimping tool, and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Using the wrong tool or applying insufficient force can result in loose connections and water leaks. Also, ensure you're using compatible PEX fittings and connectors designed for the specific type of PEX you're using (A, B, or C).
Neglecting Expansion and Contraction
PEX pipes expand and contract with temperature changes, which can stress fittings and cause leaks if not accounted for. Use proper support systems, such as PEX hangers and plastic channels, to allow this movement. Avoid tightly securing PEX pipes to structural elements, as this restricts expansion.
Exposing PEX to Sunlight
PEX is sensitive to UV (ultraviolet) light and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. If you're running PEX lines outside or in areas with UV exposure, ensure shielding them with insulation, sleeves, or coverings specifically designed to protect PEX from UV damage.
Skipping Pressure Testing
Pressure testing is a crucial step to ensure your PEX system is leak-free. Before closing walls or concealing PEX lines, perform a pressure test using air or water to identify any leaks or weak points. Fix any issues promptly to prevent costly repairs down the road.
Mixing PEX and Other Materials
Even though PEX is compatible with various materials, including copper and PVC, it is essential to follow proper transition and connection methods. Avoid direct connections between PEX and dissimilar materials, as it can lead to corrosion or leaks. Use approved transition fittings and adapters when connecting PEX to other pipe materials.
Overlooking Water Quality
Failing to address water quality issues can lead to premature degradation of PEX tubing and fittings. Avoid this mistake by testing your water for acidity or other factors that may affect PEX.
Install a water softener or treatment system if your water source is hard or contains high levels of chlorine.
Use PEX-aluminum-PEX (PEX-AL-PEX) or PEX with an oxygen barrier for hydronic heating systems to prevent corrosion.
Neglecting Insulation
PEX is less susceptible to freezing than copper but can still freeze and burst if exposed to extreme cold. Insulate PEX lines in unconditioned spaces, crawlspaces, and exterior walls to protect against freezing and maintain efficient hot water delivery.
Not Considering Future Accessibility
Failing to plan for future accessibility to your PEX plumbing can make repairs or modifications difficult. Install shut-off valves at various points in the system to isolate sections for maintenance. Avoid burying PEX connections behind walls or in inaccessible areas whenever possible. Labeling and documentation of your plumbing system makes it easier for future homeowners or plumbers to understand.
DIY without Adequate Knowledge
You may make re-plumbing with PEX, a DIY project. But without proper understanding of plumbing principles and local building codes, it can be exhausting and messy. Do not start without professional advice or guidelines from reputable sources.
Conclusion
Replumbing your house with PEX can be a rewarding project, but it is essential to avoid common mistakes to ensure a successful and reliable plumbing system. Proper planning, selecting the right materials, and using the correct tools and techniques are crucial for a smooth PEX installation. By addressing these potential pitfalls, you can enjoy the benefits of PEX plumbing, including flexibility, durability, and resistance to corrosion, while minimizing the risk of issues that could lead to costly repairs and inconveniences in the future. Remember that if you're unsure about any aspect of your PEX replumbing project, consulting with a professional plumber can provide valuable guidance and peace of mind.

The Importance of Having a Reliable Emergency Plumber in San Diego
Tumblr media
Plumbing problems can happen anytime, and they can be really bad if you don't fix them quickly. When you have a plumbing emergency, you need a good plumber who can help you right away. That's where Emergency Plumber in San Diego comes in. They can be there for you 24/7 when you need them.
What's Emergency Plumbing?
Emergency plumbing is a special service that's available all the time to handle urgent plumbing problems. It's there to help you when you need it the most and keep you from having big and expensive damage in your home or business. Your plumbing system is really important, whether you're in a store or a house.
Fixing plumbing on your own might seem easy when you look it up online, but it can make things worse. Every building's plumbing is different, so what works for someone else might not be good for you. It's safer to call a professional instead of trying to do it yourself. Here are some reasons why getting an emergency plumber is better than trying to do it yourself.
Why Do You Need a Commercial Plumber?
Before we talk about the benefits of an emergency plumber, it's important to know that you should hire a commercial plumber who knows what they're doing. Commercial plumbers are experts in big projects and plumbing systems for businesses. They have the right tools and skills to do the job safely.
Why 24/7 Emergency Plumber in San Diego is good for hiring?
What They Do and How Much It Costs
Emergency plumbing services in San Diego can help with many things, and the price depends on what you need. They can inspect your plumbing, fix problems, do maintenance, and even install new stuff. How much you pay depends on how hard the job is and what they need to use.
Staying Safe
Plumbing work can be dangerous. If there's an emergency, things can get really bad fast. Without the right safety stuff, you could end up with problems like water heaters that aren't safe. Professional plumbers know all about safety. They can handle plumbing problems better and faster than someone who doesn't know much about safety. With an emergency plumber, you can trust that they'll keep you and everyone else safe.
They Pay Attention to Details
People who fix plumbing for a living can look at your pipes better than someone who's just starting. They don't just look at the obvious problem; they also find out if other things need fixing. This stops your pipes from breaking again in the future. You want a service that covers everything and doesn't just fix one thing that will break again.
Preventing Problems
Think about this: your building is having a fancy party on a Saturday night. You want to make sure the water and plumbing can handle a lot of people. In this case, a 24-hour plumbing service is a good idea. Emergency plumbers aren't just for fixing problems; they can also stop problems from happening in the first place.
They Have Insurance
One good thing about professional plumbers is that they have insurance. This means if something goes wrong during the repair, you won't have to pay for it. Also, if a plumber gets hurt while working at your place, their insurance will cover their treatment. It's best to have professionals working in your home to avoid problems like this.
They Get Proper Training
You might not think training is important when it comes to plumbing, but it is. Training and experience make a big difference between someone who's just starting and someone who knows what they're doing. Some plumbing problems need special tools, and using those tools correctly needs training. Pros don't just know how to fix plumbing problems; they also know how to stay safe while doing it. Knowing that an expert is taking care of your pipes will give you peace of mind.
Permanent Fixes
One of the worst things is having the same problem happen again and again. It could be a sink that keeps leaking or a broken sewer pipe, and it's frustrating. If you don't fix the problem for good, you'll waste time and money on it. An emergency plumber can provide a permanent solution. They won't just patch things up; they'll fully fix the problem. If you need new pipes or parts, they'll tell you, so you won't have the same problem again.
Certified and Licensed
Good plumbing companies have the right certifications, and they have permits to do their work. This means they can provide quality services to people who need help with their properties. When you hire an emergency plumber, you're getting someone who's trained, certified, and allowed to do the job.
