Hi can I request Sarah Sanderson x female reader who has like a not so great best friend who treats the reader terribly (making fun of pushes around etc) but the reader is too scared to drop her?
Tumblr media
I Know How to Hex You
Modern!Sarah Sanderson x fem!reader
A/N: Ty for requesting this! So sorry it took me like fifty years to write it, I’ve been struggling to write a lot these past few months, I have a lot on my plate. I set this as if Sarah was born in the 20th century, so both her and the reader are around like the same age. Sorry if the insults are a bit much, I just felt like this request hit really close to home as I realized recently that a close friend of mine was just really mean and was always against me so this is a bit of a vent fic. Also if you can’t tell, I started watching SATC, so there are some references in the text lol. I hope you enjoy ! <3
Word Count: 1,250 words! (One of my longest yet!!)
Warnings: Angst that ends with fluff, Body shaming, cursing, drinking, kissing, horrible friends (never keep bad friends y’all! learnt that the hard way, ouch), usage of Y/N and unproofread text (let me know if I missed anything!)
It was that time of the year again. Halloween, your favorite holiday in the world. Only this year the warm, welcoming yet spooky feeling of the holiday wasn’t there. You were currently standing in the corner at a Halloween party hosted by your friend, Becca while nursing a cosmo. You see, you were initially excited to attend the party, that is until Becca began making degrading comments.
Earlier that night at your apartment.
“Okay!” With a bright smile you open your bathroom door, stepping out. You were dressed head to toe in a cute witch costume. The dress on you was black with deep blue details and you had on a pointy black witch hat, accompanied by red lipstick and dark eye makeup. “Sooo,” you twirled around, showing off your costume to your friend Becca, who was seated on your bed. “What do you think?”
She looked up from her phone with a bored expression and stared at you for a good five seconds before she chuckled dryly. “You’re not serious are you?” she says with a mocking tone as she stands up, pocketing her phone. Your expression drops.
“What do you mean?”
“Y/N…you can’t wear that! It is NOT flattering at all! I mean, what were you even thinking when you bought it?” She laughs and plucks the witch hat off your head. You look down at your costume. Was she right? Was the costume that you spent so much time shifting through thrift stores trying to put together really that horrible?
“Oh…” You respond, keeping your head down. You were hoping that Becca would get the hint and realize that she’d hurt you with her words, but she continued.
“I mean like be so fucking for real look at it,” she points to your figure in the floor length mirror across the room. In your reflection, you can see tears welling in your eyes, but Becca doesn’t seem to notice. “Already, you don’t even have a flattering body. These kinds of dresses are made for someone whose body is hot and sexy.” She says as her hands refer to her own body.
“I am hot and sexy,” you interject, trying to speak up for yourself as you always did when she’d get like this. She laughs loudly, the sound ringing in your ears, continuing on with her degradation before she gives up and looks at the time on her phone, stating that the two of you were going to be late for her party and that you had no time to change out of your “ugly ass dress” or change your “atrocious” makeup.
Present
Eventually, you leave the corner of Becca’s apartment, but only because you’ve now finished your cosmopolitan and need another if you’re going to get through tonight. Before you can enter the kitchen you hear your name pop up in a conversation that Becca is having with some friends of hers. “Ohhh my god do you see what Y/n’s wearing? It’s just awful,” she laughs out, wheezing in the process. “I mean she actually bought that and thought it was a good idea like who lied to her!?” You hear a few of her friends agree before you’ve had enough and step into the kitchen, grabbing a can of a random alcoholic beverage and step in front of Becca, who looks surprisingly shocked to see you. You shake the can aggressively before opening it right in front of her, spraying it all over her before she shouts in shock.
“Oops,” you slam the drink on her face and grab another can before you step out, grabbing your coat and bag from her crowded front entrance and leaving her apartment. You make it about two blocks before you break down crying in the middle of the sidewalk. Thankfully this part of Salem was deserted around that time of night, regardless of whether or not it was Halloween, meaning there was no one around to see you cry, or so you thought.
“Hello pretty,” you hear a voice say. You look up in shock, not expecting anyone to approach you. In front of you was the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen, sporting long blonde hair and a whimsical look in her eye. You sniffle before greeting her back. “What’s the matter?” She asks gently, staring deep into your eyes with a look of compassion, brushing hair away from your face.
“Oh…uh…just got into an argument with someone I considered as a sister,” you mumbled. ‘What is the matter with me?’ You thought to yourself. Why am I telling this beautiful stranger about my life? I just met her!’ Nonetheless, you disregarded your thoughts and continued to confide in the stranger, finding her presence comforting. Strangely she felt familiar, like…home.
“Oh?” She replies after listening to you rant your heart out. “I’m so sorry that happened to you, no one should treat such a beautiful creature such as yourself so horribly.” You felt flushed at her words, a sharp contrast to what you’d put up with with Becca. “You don’t believe me?” She says as she steps closer to you, crowding you against the pole of the streetlight behind you. Gingerly, you shake your head. “That’s okay,” she says, “I can prove it to you.”
“Y-you can?”
“Sure,” she smirks an award winning smirk, your breath hitches. “But only if you want me to,” her voice lowers, asking for your permission. You take a moment to look around, noticing that the street remains empty except the two of you. You nod and she laughs lightly, shaking her head. “What was that? I couldn’t hear you?”
“Yes, I want you to prove it to me.” With that she smiles, and leans in, pressing a light kiss to your lips, it lasts less than three seconds but still you feel the wind knock you off your feet. As she pulls away, you look at her with awe. She smiles and speaks again.
“I’m Sarah.”
“Y/N.”
She smiles again and tells you that she’s never heard a name so beautiful in her life. This time, you’re the one who initiates the kiss, which leads into a small but heated make out session against the pole, your lips moving fervently against each other, like you can’t live without it. But before you can get too carried away, you hear footsteps behind you. You pull apart and look up to see Becca.
“What the fuck! Who’s this? Is this why you made such a scene back there? So you can go make out with this…Bimbo!?” She yells out, both invalidating your feelings and insulting Sarah. Sarah looks at you and whispers in your ear.
“Is this the friend that treated you horribly?” You nod in confirmation. She smirks, “Watch this.” Suddenly she flicks her wrist and Becca is gone. You gasp in shock.
“You’re-you’re a-”
“Witch?” She laughs. “I know, fun isn’t it? Don’t worry I didn't do anything bad to her, she's just back at her apartment complex, where she won’t remember this encounter.” She says it like it’s no big deal and at that moment, you couldn’t find yourself to care about Becca anymore, instead you wrap your arms around Sarah’s neck, leaning in.
“So what…else can you do with your magic?” You bite your lip, keeping eye contact with her. She laughs and raises her eyebrows. Before you can blink you’re suddenly in your own apartment, your arms still around Sarah.
“Let’s find out shall we?”

Writer Ask
(I wasn’t tagged or anything, but I was bored and felt like rambling a little, so I just answered the whole list.)
What age-group do you write?
Mostly YA, but I occasionally border into adult.
What genre do you write?
Fantasy is my go-to, but I’ve dabbled in Contemporary, Horror, and Sci-fi from time to time over the years.
Do you outline according to big ideas or small details?
I’m not great at outlining, but if there’s ever anything (big or small) that I feel the need to write notes on, then I’ll do a little brainstorming so I have a document on hand if I need it.
Which do you prefer–line-editing or plot-revisions?
Plot revisions. It’s frustrating as hell, but I like to make sure everything is as it should be for the purpose of the story.
Do you write better with or without deadlines?
Neither, honestly. Deadlines don’t compel me to get things done, they just stress me out, and no deadlines also stress me out because … it just gives me more reason not to do anything, and then I just feel really bad about it, which makes me not want to do it more. It’s a never ending cycle that I desperately need to break.
What would be the biggest compliment you could hope to receive on your current WIP?
That it’s actually interesting enough to keep readers wanting more.
How long is your current WIP?
It’s still sitting at 40k, but right now I’m abandoning it for something new which is still in the planning stages.
What author would you be most excited to be compared to?
I have no idea. I guess any of the most well-known YA writers.
What do you struggle most with as a writer?
Consistency. I’m forever fighting with myself to get more words down and finish something.
Do you brain-storm story ideas alone or with others?
Mostly alone. Sometimes I have a friend who likes to bounce ideas around with me, but writing has always been such a lonely thing for me.
Do you base your characters off of real people?
Not really. I did it once, but now that I’m rewriting that particular novel, the characters have become their own people.
Is your writing space clean or cluttered?
A bit of both. I like to be organised but there’s not much room, so I just make do.
Do you write character-driven or plot-driven stories?
I think I always fall on the character-driven side. I try to focus more on plot when it’s necessary but it never feels good enough to me, so that’s pretty difficult.
Do you have a favorite writing-related quote?
Something about shovelling sand into a box to later make sandcastles? I don’t know. I’ve seen so many quotes about writing, but not many stand out.
If you transport your original characters into another author’s world, which world would you choose?
I’d like to see them in Throne of Glass. I think giving over my characters to SJM would be a fangirl moment for me, just to see what she would do with them.
Would your story work better as a movie or tv show? Why?
That’s hard to say. Freefall would probably be a movie. But the world of The Divine … maybe a show.
Do you make soundtracks for each story?
I’ve started to! I create playlists on Spotify for them.
If you could assign your story one song, what would it be?
When the Sun Goes Down - Tommee Profitt
Would you rather live in your characters’ world, or have your characters come live in our world?
Characters’ world. I wouldn’t want them to be ordinary.
What book would you love to see adapted for the big or small screen?
I don’t know. I’m open to any - my biggest gripe with most book-to-movie is the production teams behind them. It’s gotta be right. Stop messing with cheap production value on Fantasy.
Do you finish most of the stories you start?
Nope!
Has your own writing ever made you cry?
Yes.
Are you proud or anxious to show off your writing?
Neither, I guess. I like to show my stuff once I consider it a decent standard, and then I enjoy gaining feedback just to see if there’s anything I never considered or maybe missed.
When did you start considering yourself a writer?
Probably when I was around 17. I was writing a bunch of teen drama drabbles and got a lot of readers/likes/comments. That was when I think I really started to consider trying to make some kind of career out of it.
What books are must-reads in your genre?
Stuff by Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, Sarah J Maas, Laini Taylor. So, like, Throne of Glass, Mistborn, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and The Black Prism. There’s honestly so many, just scour goodreads and dive in.
What would you like to see more of in your genre?
Can I go with less? Like, don't get me wrong, Fantasy is my favourite genre, but the political intrigue part can get really heavy, and really drawn out, really fast. It’s my least favourite part about Fantasy, but unfortunately is a massive convention of that genre. Also, I think I clearly need to read more Fantasy that’s a bit more gruelling - I’ve read so many books that came so close to being dark and tragic, and then shies away from it to make way for happy endings. And Happily Ever Babies. No thank you.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I used to get it from other books, movies, and video games. At this point in time, though … I’m not entirely sure.
On a scale of 1-10, how much do you stress about choosing character names?
Not at all, really. If I don’t think of a name right away that I feel fits the character, then I give them a placeholder name until I find the right one.
Do you tend to underwrite or overwrite in a first draft?
Probably underwrite. Maybe even half and half.
Does writing calm you down or stress you out?
Mostly calms me down, depending on how much pressure I’m feeling that day.
What trope do you actually like?
Friends to lovers. Cold guy with violence in his veins actually has a soft heart. The Chosen One.  Parents are conveniently absent. Slow burn. Protagonist has to die to save the day (but actually die).
That’s just off the top of my head. I’m okay with most tropes to be honest.
Do you give your side-characters extensive backstories?
I never used to, but I’m starting to build on that more these days.
Do you flesh-out characters before you write, or let their personalities develop over time?
I write down the basics such as appearance and/or particular quirks or personality traits. But most of the time, the personalities develop on their own, and a lot of what I originally intended them to be doesn’t work out.
Describe your old writing in one word.
Amateur.
Is it more fun to write villains or heroes?
I really enjoy writing heroes - I love giving them their darkest moments and their epic comebacks.
Do you write with a black and white sense of morality?
No.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to new writers?
Write what you want and take every single piece of writing advice with a grain of salt. Not everything you read or try to make your writing better will work for you, so find what does, and don't worry about what everyone else is doing.
What’s one piece of writing advice you try–but fail–to follow?
Set a wordcount goal every day and stick to it in order to form a better and consistent writing habit. I’ve tried and failed this countless times.
How important is positive reinforcement to you as a writer?
Personally, I don’t know. I think it’s important to know the difference between criticism and constructive criticism, though, and that you don’t have to make the changes suggested by others to what you’ve written or where you intend to go with the story.
What would you ask your favorite author if given one question?
How the hell do you do it?
Do you find it distracting to read while you’re writing a first draft?
Not at all. I actually think it helps me a lot.
Do critiques motivate or discourage you?
It’s subjective, unfortunately. Sometimes it’s helpful, and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes you get feedback from someone who knows what they’re talking about, and sometimes you get utter nonsense. So … learn the difference.
Do you tend to write protagonists like yourself or unlike yourself?
There’s definitely some amount of myself reflected in them. I learnt that while studying self-reflection in prose at university a few years ago.
Our class basically had to sit around a table and discuss personal process within our writing and what messages we think we might be trying to convey within our work. It soon moved on to whether or not we imagine ourselves as the protagonists (because that’s a popular writer stereotype) in our stories. Most of our answers were ‘no’, but most of us did discover a lot of links between the two.
For instance, the majority of my protagonists have always been orphans. No parents, no siblings. I didn’t grow up without a family or siblings, but my familial relationships have always been super strained my whole life. Instead of trying to write positive familial relationships, it was easier to cut them out entirely and replace it with the Found Family trope instead.
How do you decide what story idea to work on?
Whichever one has been running around my head the most at the time is usually the one I end up getting the itch to write.
Do you find it harder or easier to write when you’re stressed out?
Harder.
What Hogwarts house would your protagonist(s) be in?
I don’t know, and I don’t care.
Where do you see yourself as a writer in five years?
Nowhere. And that’s not trying to be self-deprecating. I’m literally struggling to hold on to my passion for it lately. You know how most writers imagine seeing their book on a shelf someday? I don’t get that. Not anymore. Or at least not at this point in time.
Would you ever co-write?
I would! It would depend on a few things, but I like the thought of it.
Are you a fast and rushed writer or a slow and deliberate writer?
Slow and deliberate. I’d like to be fast, but it’s just not in me.
Would you rather be remembered for your fantastic world-building or your lifelike characters?
I don’t know. Characters, probably.

Hi! I’m so happy your writing for Sarah Sanderson! Do you think you can write a thing about Sarah falling in love with the female reader… who’s apart of Becca’s friend group? Thank you!! :)
Tumblr media
She's My Witch
Sarah Sanderson x fem!reader
A/N: Ty for requesting this, I hope it was to your satisfaction! I had to age up the character to 20 bc Becca and her friends are all 16 and I don’t think Sarah Sanderson should see 16-year-olds romantically even if she's from the 1600s. Sorry if this seems to drag on and if some things are exact to what happened, wrote this on my lunch break and I have a bad memory.  Also sorry this took so long my computer stopped working for a bit.
Word Count: This is 993 words, my biggest fanfic yet!
Warnings: Kissing, mentions of smut but nothing actually happens in the text, unproofread writing.
It was Halloween again, your favorite time of year. Not just because it was one of your best friend's birthdays, but because it meant that you could dress as spookily as you wanted and no one could say a thing, especially since you lived in Salem, Massachusetts. At this very moment, you were in Olde Salem Magic Shoppe looking for new crystals to buy when Becca and Izzy came into the shop.
“Hey, guys!” You shouted, walking over to hug the birthday girl. You gave her a tight squeeze but noticed that she had a sad look on her face. “Oh no,” you said, turning to Izzy, “is she still upset over Cassie’s party?” Izzy looked at you with a look that said “duh!”
“We both are,” she sighed.
“And so should you!” Becca said. You sighed, bringing them both in for a tight side hug.
“Listen, guys…These kinds of things just happen, just wait until the party is over and she’ll realize that it was pointless to spend Halloween without you two.” You said, attempting to reassure them. That just made them look even more depressed. You sighed, “listen, I have to go feed my cats but I’ll be sure to stop by the woods just in time for our little yearly ritual!” That made them seem happy, knowing that you were still there for them.
~That same night - the forbidden forest ~
You, Becca, and Izzy were sat in a triangle around a black candle. The full moon was out and you were starting to feel weirded out by the woods. You watch Becca light the candle and together, the three of you recite your usual birthday ritual. Once it's done you zone out, trying to not feel creeped out by being in the woods at night. You can hear Becca and Izzy bickering, something about the candle not blowing out.
“Excuse me?” You say, “what do you mean the candle’s not blowing out just pour water on it!” Becca follows your instruction, pouring water on the unusual candle before it lights back up, leaving the three of you afraid. You blow it out quickly and begin packing up. The three of you walk a decent few steps before you hear beautiful singing. You start to run and before you know it, you run into three women. Becca and Izzy scream, but you stay mesmerized by the beautiful blonde woman on the left. Suddenly, you realize just who the three of you have run into.
“Holy shit!” You say. “It’s the Sanderson Sisters!
“Yeah, we gathered that!” Yelled Becca, slowly backing away, taking her hand in yours before sprinting away. You didn't make it very far before the sisters showed up in front of the three of you again. Already, they deduced that Becca and Izzy were teens, dismissing you. Well, not all of them dismissed you. The pretty blonde woman kept making eyes at you and even if she was kinda threatening to eat literal children's souls at the moment, you couldn't stop making them back.
You followed the girls as they lead the witches to the local Walgreens, tricking them into believing that skincare products were potions, watching as they gobbled them up. Eventually, they discovered that the three of you were lying and began chasing you around the Walgreens. You managed to escape without any of them noticing when suddenly a beautiful voice whispered in your ear, “where do you think you’re going?” You jumped. It was the blonde Sanderson sister! You recognized her as Sarah from all of your history lessons.
“Uhh…Nowhere?” You said. She looked at you with a face of disbelief. You sighed.
“Look, please, just… don’t…harm my friends, I just wanna go home.” You said honestly. She looked at you with a teasing look.
“I don't want your friends,” she said with a breathy tone, leaning in to whisper in your ear again “I want you.” She said, pulling back, smiling at you with a toothy grin.
“M-Me?” You gasped. “Why?” You questioned.
“You’re so beautiful why wouldn’t I want you?” She said like it was obvious. You blushed.
“Wow uhh..Okay then,” you said, grabbing her hand. “You can come with me back to my place.” She seemed elated at that answer.
“Oh we are going to have so so much fun!” she squealed, pulling you in for a kiss. You kissed back, the two of you entering a make-out session in the middle of the street. When you finally needed some air, you pulled back, smiling at her.
“Come on.” You said.
~The next morning~
You and Sarah spent the night together and falling absolutely in love with one another. At the end of the night, you ended up sleeping with each other, the two of you delighting in the bliss of being so close to someone so close to your heart. When you awoke the next day, she was gone. You got up sad and walked to Gilbert’s shop to start your shift. When you reached the door, it was unlocked. You shrugged and walked in to find Gilbert, Becca, Cassie, her boyfriend, and Izzy together standing there looking at you with expressions that read “What the actual fuck!” Confused, you shut the door behind you. “What?” You said, concerned that no one was speaking. Gilbert began to talk but Becca swiftly interrupted him.
“Could you explain why when we did a summoning spell to bring Sarah Sanderson to the woods she arrived NAKED WHILE HOLDING HER CLOTHES TO HERSELF!?” she yelled. Your eyes widened comically.
“I-I can explain I-” you stuttered, trying to think of a reasonable explanation when Gilbert began laughing, which prompted you to laugh as well. The girls looked horrified but you couldn't stop thinking of the beautiful blonde woman you spent the night with while crying laughing. You would never really forget her, even if you knew she was gone for good, your beautiful Sarah Sanderson.
