printed one of my favorite fics as a paperback! what an honor to be able to have a physical personal copy, i'm so happy to be able to hold it in my hands. as someone who grew up watching/reading naruto from around the age of 13, and came back to it as an adult years later, this beautiful story healed a piece of my heart. it was so fun to design and format the look of this physical version. thank you @sasubaeuchithot for giving me permission to print this!

summary: The only reason Sasuke keeps coming back to Konoha is because of that mattress. The bed is his only respite. And perhaps the dumbass who owns said bed might be worth it, too.

Or, another canon divergence 699 that showers Sasuke with too much (deserved) love and attention that we all need for these unprecedented times.

Title means "Bonded Light". It'll make sense when you're about 100K in.

On one hand we have "Kishi should have written the ending Naruto deserved" and on the other we have "yeah but YAOI can tackle this for us" and the two have been at odds for a long time

see but the thing is that it should have ended with sns because that's what suits the story the best. like he didn't need to write them doing nasty nasty or even like??? kissing??? but canonically ending their epilogue with other romantic interests just completely undermines what could have been such a perfect narrative ending to their duality

what are your top 3 or 5 favorite naruto x sasuke fanfics? i'd love to get some recommendations!! i've been looking for something new to read but i feel like i always end up re-reading kizuna hikari lol

Rereading Kizuna Hikari is actually the realest thing I've ever heard. Matter of fact, I'm rereading it right now. For the twentieth time. So I totally get it.

Now, I'll be honest that in terms of characterization, no fics do it like the kizunaverse. None. At the very least, I haven't read a single one with such a staggeringly good grasp on every single character, it's insane.

I'd accuse @sasubaeuchithot of secretly being Kishimoto, but I fear that even he wouldn't be as consistently flawless in sasuke and naruto's portrayal, considering how botched the ending and sequel were. (top kh glazer check)

But enough. Let's see.

Every single fic by @kinomiakai is a certified banger. I find their characterization magnificent as well, their modern AUs are unparalleleddddd.

The way they write Sasuke and Naruto is totally believable, even though they obviously aren't 100% in character, which is normal; characters will always be different in AUs, they have lived considerably different lives.

Their only fic that I haven't read is a current WIP, "Two is a Crowd", which is canon-divergent.

Personally waiting for it to be completed, because I've started wayyy too many WIPs and my heart won't take another one.

"Heaven is a place on earth with you" by zephyrous (amorphia) was a lovely two-shot from Sakura's POV, watching sns through the years. I'm personally a sucker for such fics and I remember this one hit the spot.

Check out "i like his eyes", "i hope the encore lasts forever" and "here's to us (here's to love)" by moviekidd826, they were beyond lovely!

"The sun is too bright, it hurts." by waywardfacegarden, can't recommend it enough, I was obsessed when I first read it. I'm a sucker for fics like that.

Lastly, "Lost and Found" by MadeNew is a fic I had read in one sitting. Check out some of their other fics as well, they have quite a few!

I haven't read sns in quite some time, even though they occupy at least 20% of my brain, so I'm probably not the best person to ask for recommendations.

These are only a few of the fics I've bookmarked, but it's been so long since I've read most of them! I remember loving these fics endlessly, which I can't so safely say for my other sns bookmarks.

A lot of rereads are due, I suppose!

Hope you read these and love them like I have, I'd love to know your thoughts on them if you wouldn't mind that sort of thing!

I struggle a bit at reading so I don't read that much, but currently I'm re-reading the wonderful Kizuna Hikari by @sasubaeuchithot 💕 I also often re-read stuff from @itsmnee, @freakontour and weeb_grass! I'm also planning on re-reading Need soon <3

18. What’s one of your favorite lines you’ve written in a fic?

This question is terribly hard to answer bc I've written over 600k in 1,5 years and I can't remember all of it 😂 but something I really liked is from my kinktober again:

“He didn’t, right? Maybe he can join now,” Naruto says, propping his elbow on Sasuke’s chest and leans his palm against his jaw. Then the clone dissipates. Sasuke watches Naruto combing through the clone’s fragmented memories, how he pieces it together. He looks at the empty chair and Sasuke under him. “You sneaky fuck,” Naruto says in disbelief.

No2, Naruto would totally be sad about being the ONLY person Sasuke trusts, but I think he's irrevocably happy that he'd be Sasuke's most important person regardless of how many others end up in Sasuke's circle

lol ya. it's only a few thousand words long I believe, but i haven't ended it yet. it's v sad because it's at one of the worst points of Sasuke's mental health.

and yeah, you're right, he would be very stoked to be Sasuke's favorite person once Sasuke gets more people in his life lol. then it's a competition that he's won, and he loves winning lol

itachis narrative follows through at first, but falls apart if you inspect it. his story's actually quite inconsistent...

like only focusing on his treatment of sasuke, we are told he did it to make him stronger. but its all very vague and a flimsy excuse for the sheer agony and torture it caused to the brother he loved. his character or backstory didnt seem to be finalized when he was first introduced..

nevertheless i do love the 'actually he loved his brother' storyline. its very tragic. his canon actions offer a lot for interpretation...

i read a fic where itachi loved sasuke so much he killed the uchihas because he felt thy were trapping him and wanted to see sasuke fly. hmmmm*

possibilities...(the love can be twisted too)

i feel like all the anti itachi portay him as too...overly willing to kill his clan? (for the sake of konoha) wasnt danzos ultimatum (either every single uchiha dies at roots hands..or only sasuke will be spared if he does it himself) playing a major part in his decision??...

anyways kishimoto did end up creating one of the most iconic characters of anime/manga...

so im not complaining ...i dont think the uchiha storyline would be as memorable without the twist

*(i love pre reveal itachi and sasuke fics. the explanations they make for the massacre are always so interesting...)

lmao how itachi didnt even kill shisui, his best friend, but told sasuke to kill his to get the mangekyou sharingan.

what would he have done if sasuke had actually killed naruto (his best friend then) only to find out itachi lied about killing shisui for power

like orochimaru with his weird fake politeness and sadistic amusement vs kabuto who cant stand sasuke (and vice versa) but he has to be nice bcs this angsty preteen is his masters next vessel vs sasuke whos just here power and really doesnt give a shit about the other two, except for when he wants to take out his teenage angst by bullying kabuto,

it will forever baffle me, all those memes that paint sasuke as this dumb, idiotic character that knows nothing and is a selfish brat for wanting to kill his brother who loves him and power-obsessed for leaving to orochimaru, and then pretend itachi didnt have any part in that. that that was all sasuke, uninfluenced.

setting aside the question of (his intentions, if it made sense, what was a better alternative, was it morally justified etc.) its a fact that the one who made him that way was... itachi. he was the one who told him to hate him, to kill his best friend for the mangekyou sharingan, to grow stronger, to cling to hate and revenge, to come after him to kill him. 

he was the one who told him he lacks enough hate, called him weak, and repeatedly used tsukoyomi to make him relive the massacre and hate him, therefore want to grow stronger to kill him. he actively hid the truth and manipulated it to be that sasuke would never find out, even after death, he was the one who took the brush and painted himself a mindless villain, just to make him hate him. that was all itachi. that was what drove him to orochimaru, to leave konoha, to try and cut off naruto. 

sasuke wasnt somehow naturally that way, (on the contrary, he went after itachi right after seeing his parents bodies, stopped himself from killing naruto)- itachi had to constantly influence him to fester hate that way. it was literally all part of itachis plan! itachi’s!!! people just ignore that, fuck?

like i love itachis character too, i genuinely enjoy his and sasukes storyline. this is not an attack on his character. its just kind of irritating when people lift him up while putting sasuke down by like, exaggerating and making him out to be a pathetic spoilt brat of a character and pretend itachis the actual and only victim bcs how terrible to have a brother who you love but wants to kill you, somehow ignoring that itachi was the one who manipulated his brother? like yeah itachi was manipulated and under pressure too, but in terms of his and sasukes relationship he is the one who lied!!!

like i dont even care about his mistakes or whatever, i care abt sasuke being made out to be the "villain" in their dynamic

Being in bed together is a pretty big theme in that story and I just wanted to draw something that would give off that cozy, warm, ~magic mattress~ vibe for those two.
