Day 19 | Sawsharks look funny

I didn't have enough shark clothes so I decided to put sharks all over one of my sweaters, and I'm going to wear it for my 18th birthday tomorrow!! When I started I thought I'd fit about 8 shark, but ended up fitting 14 😎

Sharks on the front of the sleeves: coral catshark & bonnethead shark

Sharks on the front of the body: whale shark, bull shark, frilled shark, saw shark, angel shark (those last two are shown better in the closer picture)

Sharks on the back of the sleeves: zebra bullhead shark & dogfish shark

Sharks on the back of the body: thresher shark, cow shark(bluntnose sixgill), cookie cutter shark, great hammerhead shark, basking shark

They aren't all perfectly accurate because I had a few oopsies with my sewing machine, but I did my best, and even if other people aren't able to identify them because of the mess ups, I still can!! 😁

🦈 Daily Shark Fact: 🦈

Sawfish have long snouts edged with sharp teeth which alternate in size. They have a pair of barbels in the middle of their snout, that are used as sensory organs (along with the Ampuli of Lorenzini), which facilitates detection of prey.

This long, sharp, serrated snout is used to kill their prey. Fast movement of the snout from side to side cuts prey into fine chops that can be swallowed easily.

This is a saw shark. Saw sharks grow to a maximum of about 1.37 meters long!! That's around 4.5 feet!!

Sharktober 5/6: Saw Shark and Thresher Shark

I was feeling under the weather all day so had to do two in one day. When you have a snout that long, it becomes the perfect place to hang a few decorations!

Charity shop find, a saw shark rostrum. It looks pretty ancient and has a hook on the back for hanging. Was probably on somebodies wall for decades.
