I have been looking at the Astral Plane map and I can pick up some interesting things on both the horizontal and vertical view.
First off the Wind rose on the bottom right of the horizontal picture confirms the use of cardinal directions which is repeated on 4 side of the globe. Two fragments are repeated and not linked to a special imagery(as far as I know) and just floating here and there.
For the vertical picture we can deduce the top and bottom fragments of the globe are North and South respectively. I also do not recognize the symbol which stands for the R since it's very tiny. The Sun is well that is very much a sun and the moon next to it leaves little room for confusion. Unsure if it happened before but we have instances of two symbols for one letter(soUth and sUn, North and suN). This means there may be doubles for the entire roman alphabet.
Last but not least I am very unsure about the W _ N _ on the left: it could be Wind bt the drawing around it is ambiguous, could be wane as in the verb?

This video by SolidArf describes and chronicles the history of the fandom's interpretations, expectations, and realities of Scala ad Caelum, or Cable Town, as it was known before the name's official reveal. It's a touching narrative filled with various references to additional media such as the Sandman series, as well as a genuine appreciation for how much effort has gone into preserving the thoughts surrounding the town leading up to KHIII and ReMind's release, as well as a little bit of the possible future Scala holds in Missing-Link.

Got possessed by some demons and made graphics based on two of the image IDs from this chapter
(Combination of digital art and some pictures of tables in my house)

'It is impossible to truly understand Keyblade wielders without understanding the world that birthed them—and so, we must begin with a time long before they were even a concept.'
#doesn’t feel exactly right to tag this as KH fanart… since it’s like… paper so I’m just not gonna tag this at all lol#I will give a few random facts though#I made blurrier black and white versions of each to make it feel more ‘old-ish textbook’#I honestly find the black and white versions look a bit more cohesive as well#The letter is supposed to be under glass so I tried to add glare and some dust on it to give that effect#also a hand print its faint but there#I’m not sure I pulled off the effect entirely but I did my best#I also had to go through the letter and correct some of the out of date Scala Script translations that the font uses#specifically replacing every ‘k’ with ‘y’ and switching the ‘y’s to ‘Y’s because they didn’t have the symbol for ‘y’ in it for some reason#I was originally going to write the whole letter out by hand but it was taking ages and looked bad#I figured since it was restored/transcribed I could get away with using the font#they uhh… used a typewriter…. lol

Darius Vogel ┊ The great detective Harrison’s book of incidents

[TYPEWRITER]
CASE 04 DETAILS: The search for my cute little robin. REQUESTER: Darius.
[HALLWAY; NEUTRAL POV]
Liam: We’ve got nothing on our hands now since we put in our mission report, I see...

Harrison: Nothing, including your work over at Scala?
Liam: Tom’s making the script! He was telling us that he’s run into a bit of a block, so to give him a few days time.
On a certain day, with not a single strange happening, a shadow of a person approached the two, making casual chat.
Darius: Well, hello there, Harrison Gray and Liam Evans.
Harrison: And what might the head of Vogel need from us?
Darius: My poor heart, why so guarded?
D: I just caught wind a little while ago from the Queen’s Aide. You’re looking for cases to solve as detectives, yes?
D: So by all means, I would like you to hear mine out. (@^◡^)
Liam: Oh, my curiosity’s tickling me, Harry!
Harrison: Yeah, and I feel like if we pick it up just to satiate that curiosity of yours, it’s gonna bite us back hard in the rear. ( ̄□ ̄」)
Darius: Hehe— don’t worry so much. I’m not really looking for anything grand.
D: I’d simply like you to find an adorable little robin who flitted away from my hands.
[STORAGE ROOM; KATE’S POV]
As Harrison, Liam, and Darius continued to converse, unbeknownst to the robin in question——
Meanwhile, I was in the palace’s storage room.
(It’s going to be fine. Darius would never be able to find me like this...!)
Why am I hiding from Darius, you ask? Well, it all happened just several minutes before...
—— Flashback ——
[PALACE GUEST ROOM]
Darius: Miss fairytale keeper, come play with me, how about it?
It was a line I’ve heard before, and I responded back...
Kate: Umm... I didn’t come here to play though.
Darius: That I know. You’re here to record the discussion Victor and I are going to have, isn’t that right?
Kate: Yes, that’s right. So, that’s why I don’t have time to play——

Darius: About that, Victor ended up getting caught up in some previous engagements, so he’s going to be an hour late.
D: So here we are, keep me occupied in that hour, will you. (^▽^)
—— End flashback ——
[STORAGE ROOM]
And then he suggested we play hide and seek.
Because, ‘If I find you in time, I’ll have you do a single thing of whatever I ask.’
He donned the face of an angel, all the while setting the conditions of a devil, and recalling those words, I tried my utmost best to find a hiding place.
(There’s only a few minutes left. At this rate, I will be able to escape from him.)
I looked up at the clock, lax, when...
Darius: Fooound you, miss fairytale keeper.
I wanted dearly to think I was hallucinating, but the one with that heartless voice tapped my shoulder.
Darius: I would like it if you didn’t ignore me, you know. Or, what... are you so focused at work, my voice just goes through one ear and right out the other?
D: So, so focused on cleaning, aren’t you, Miss Kate the maid.
I was dressed as a palace maid and holding a broom, and seeing this sight, Darius spoke, a teasing tone laced in his voice.
[CHOICES - START]
˖🕰️୭˚ CHOICE #1: ...I can hear you.
Kate: ...I can hear you. It’s just I didn’t think you would be able to find me.
Darius: Well, it wasn’t just me, you know. I had them help out, too.
(‘Them’...?)
Holding onto some doubt, I looked over his shoulder, and...
˖🕰️୭˚ CHOICE #2: You’ve got the wrong person.
Kate: You’ve got the wrong person.
Darius: Do I now? Let me take a closer look then.
Saying so, Darius spun around me.
Darius: Hmm... no matter where and how I look, I think it’s you through and through, miss fairytale keeper.
D: Oh, but just to be extra sure, I will definitely know if it’s her or not if we kiss. (⌒▽⌒)
Kate: I-I’ve never even kissed you before, though, so how would you know?
Darius: Hehe, so you admit it? That you are the miss fairytale keeper.
Kate: Ah...!
Realizing my own slip-up, I finally looked over his shoulder, and...
˖🕰️୭˚ CHOICE #3: Goodness me, I’m very, very busy!
Kate: Goodness me, I’m very, very busy!
Convincing myself that Darius’ voice was surely a hallucination, I continued sweeping the dust with my broom.
Darius: You’re ‘busy,’ you say? Well then, I’ll lend a helping hand.
Saying so, Darius snatched the broom from my hands.
Darius: But, are you really sure? If you made me clean and whatnot because you lied, then it would become quite a problem, methinks.
Kate: ...urgh, sorry. That was a lie. It’s my loss.
Apologizing, I looked over his shoulder.
[CHOICES - END]
There stood not only Darius, but Harrison and Liam as well.
Kate: Why are you two here too?
Harrison: Because we took up a request from Darius to find your hiding spot.
Liam: Isn’t Harry incredible? He was all like, ‘There’s not many places within the palaces to hide oneself, so she wouldn’t be physically hiding her body.’
L: ‘Instead, she’ll probably try and mix herself in with the maids and clean or something.’
Kate: Right to a tee... you really are incredible, Harrison.
K: That said, using Harrison by putting in a request would be unfair. My chances to win would plummet then, wouldn’t it!
Darius: But nowhere in the rules did we say I couldn’t. ( ̄ヘ ̄)
D: And besides, there really was something I wanted you to do, miss fairytale keeper, so I could hardly afford to care about appearances.
Liam: ...It looks like the one whose rear is getting bitten isn’t us, but rather Kate, huh. (´-ω-`)
Harrison: Well, seeing as you’re a member of Crown, too, I doubt it’s anything irredeemably bad.
H: ...I think.
After throwing me sympathizing glances, Liam and Harrison left.

Darius: Now then... as for what I wanted you to do, miss fairytale keeper...
Darius’ honey-colored eyes glimmered like a blaze, as though he were a carnivore that found its prey.
Kate: Please go easy on me. I would prefer it if you didn’t hurt or scare me...
Darius: Well, isn’t that a tad troubling, to think the little miss fairytale keeper misunderstands me like that. ( ̄ヘ ̄)
D: Okay, I’ve decided. The thing I want you to do is... ‘to do ten things of whatever I ask.’ (⌒▽⌒)☆
Kate: Wha...
Here I was, thinking if it was just one thing, I could somehow get through it, but somehow that ‘one’ turned straight to ‘ten.’
Kate: ...Can you even do that?
Darius: The rules didn’t say I couldn’t, yes?
D: Now then, whatever should I have you do, miss fairytale keeper...
D: First things first, maybe I’ll have you attend to me in your current outfit. And then—— (^ヮ^)
Darius was pulling out his tricks while wearing a smile,
[BLACK]
and seeing him like that before me, I thought to myself: ‘The next time Darius and I have a match, I will make sure to lay some clear-cut rules on the table.’

Coralie Fargeat, director
His films opened gates towards imagination. Towards an endless mental space where each could project its own inner world. We could wander in his films. Go back to them again and again. They were thick with secrets, with the unexplained. They were full of the unnecessary.
That was so essential. It requires a lot of strength: the deliberate act of creating worlds with no boundaries. To create paths where our mind can follow its own way. Carpets. Back yards. Heavy rooms. Roads. A whole unseen world was infusing behind each of those spaces. They were becoming open spaces for our imagination. I loved his work for that.
Paul Schrader, director
David couldn’t get Blue Velvet made. Dino De Laurentiis told David he’d pay me to rewrite the script and David gave it to me. It was one of the best scripts I’d ever read. I told Dino there was no way I could improve it. David thanked me and Dino financed the film. The rest is film history. The only thing to add is this: smoking kills.
Stephen Woolley, programmer and producer
When I finally caught up with Eraserheead, I was so mesmerised and besotted with its beautiful design, disturbing imagery and surreal humour that I programmed it for two months exclusively at the Scala cinema in London. It was one of the most important films I had ever seen and still is.
He came for the opening. But, looking at the programme, he appeared suddenly alarmed (his expressions usually vacillated between open-faced exuberance and intense curiosity). I asked what was wrong. He apologetically explained in what can only be described as a Jimmy Stewart drawl that there was a mistake: it said the film was playing during the day. He went on to explain: nobody watched it in daylight; it was a midnight movie; it would flop at 3pm.
Ironically, Lynch liked to describe Eraserhead as his Philadelphia Story – not the charming romcom with Stewart, Hepburn and Grant, but a tale inspired by his time living in the most violent and crime-ridden neighbourhoods in the city. He had lived all over the US, after being born in Montana, but kept that adorable, sing-song midwest accent throughout his life.
I told him there was no mistake – and happily David was wrong. Eraserhead is a transgressive and pleasurable enigma, existing alongside movies like Tod Browning’s Freaks, Buñuel’s Un Chien Andalou and Jodorowsky’s El Topo – as a masterpiece of grotesquery as beauty – like a Francis Bacon painting or a Louise Bourgeois sculpture.
Peter Strickland, director
I first saw Eraserhead at the Scala cinema on Saturday 10 February 1990 and to say it was an influence is an understatement. It pointed to an aesthetic pathway hitherto hidden from view, and most tellingly, as with many altering experiences, it revealed something within me that was probably always latent, but required unveiling.
At one point I fell asleep. But my dream state was porous enough to allow in fragments from the film, such as the Lady in the Radiator song, which made the whole experience even more indelible.
For all the genuinely repellent scenes in Eraserhead, the film’s ignition is in its confoundingly wayward tonality and how Lynch saw and heard the world. It was the first time I considered sound as something expressive rather than illustrative and considered film as something impressionistic rather than representative. The film functioned as an environment more than anything. I kidded myself that I could live in that inner world, though my only concession to that was in purchasing the film’s poster from a shop in Reading called But Is it Art?.
Carol Morley, director
It’s hard to believe Lynch has gone, but incredible to contemplate all that he did, and just how his avant garde art bravely made it out into the big wide world and continues to thrive. His film-making turned everything upside down and inside out and he did it with such originality it was breathtaking. He didn’t analyse. He felt, he had dreams and he tried to catch something in the air. In the book Lynch on Lynch, he said: “There are things that cinema can do that are very difficult to talk about.” He understood the mystery and magic like nobody else.
The best thing in the world for him was to have an idea. And he inspired me to stay true to my own ideas even when navigating the tricky and sometimes suffocating parts of film-making that are essentially commerce above art. Over the years I’ve watched and read interviews with him, and once spent a morning in bed reading his insights into life and creativity in his alternative self-help book, Catching the Big Fish. I’d begun the day never wanting to get up again and certainly never wanting to make a film again, but he returned my desire to do both. And through this, he taught me to hang on to the personal, to always return to the beginning of a process – to remember what you fell in love with when you had the initial thoughts and to never let go of that feeling and to keep going deep.
Lynch dreamed up his films – literally. The ending of Blue Velvet came to him in a dream. He inspired me to connect with my unconscious, to pay it respect. I loved how he explored the unmentionables in life, shone light into darkness, created monsters and outsiders, how he reconciled opposites such as the innocence and horror of small-town America, how he looked at “the weird on top” (as Laura Dern’s character in Wild at Heart says) and then took us underground.
The original Blue Velvet trailer says: “It will open your eyes to a world you’ve never seen before.” That pretty much sums up all of Lynch’s oeuvre. There’s a familiarity, but then again … I was around when Twin Peaks aired on TV in 1990 and my friends and I couldn’t stop talking about it. We began to see things differently. Life became Lynchian. I swear he altered the structure of our brains.
His work has always been a great challenge for the mind, but it’s the emotion in his films that has kept me returning for clues. As inventive as he was with performance, image, sound and music, nothing he did was embellishment for the sake of style, everything Lynch did was in service to the story. And It’s clear how much he loved his actors, how he gave them a safe and freeing space to do the very delicate and personal work actors have to do.
Alice Lowe, director
Many remember the first time they encountered Lynch’s indelible images, heard his sound and music for the first time. To me, he’s just always been there. And that’s when a cultural loss feels hard: when you’ve not met someone, but their work feels personal to you, part of your psyche.
But what’s strange is how many feel that way. The strangeness and intimacy of his work is counterintuitive to its popularity, its sheer power to force its way into culture collectively. His work spoke its own language, but a language that was strangely universal. In a time when the very nature of film as an individual’s perspective and the human auteurship of art is in question, it feels seismic to have lost him.
He reminded us that genius can be coupled with kindness and humanity. To me his greatest collaboration was with his audience. The generosity to allow people to project their own interpretation upon his work, forging powerful bonds with it.
For me it is the power of colour within his work; the soul-shifting nature of the sound design; his unforgettable characters: Bob crawling over the sofa, Diane Ladd covering herself with lipstick, Nicolas Cage’s sweetness in Wild at Heart, the log lady, the lady in the radiator, The Elephant Man choosing to die. He deftly mixed tones – nigh impossible. Humour and darkness and horror and sadness and wonder. All human experience contained.
He was the best magician. His spell was to dispel accusations of elitism or pretension with the sheer primality of his incantations. It is happening again. You may not be able to explain it, but deep down, you understand it. Universal. He showed us monsters without being a monster. And his showmanship was filled with empathy.
I’m going try to find something in the wreckage of this loss: a promise to be creative, to trust in art, in humanity, that there is a collectivity to our experience, and it’s worth sharing it. I hope his family are comforted by the love pouring out for this wonderful human.

This one screenshot has so much I want to talk about in it so I’m gonna babble about it below the cut
(TLDR: CQ geeks out about translating the Scala Language)
Okay, so first off I’d like to say how much I love the newspaper vibe they are going for and achieving with menus. It has me gnawing on the walls. There’s just Scala Script (the Scala language, for clarity’s sake) everywhere and my code breaking brain is eating it up.
Speaking of which here’s what I’ve been able to translate so far (out of what I’ve been able to make out… the writing is pretty scuffed up in places and it’s not the highest quality image lol)

So the first thing I’d like to focus on are the banners. Each one has something written in Scalian underneath. Those things in order of left to right are “Daily”, “Item”, and “Avatar”, which uh, makes sense lol.
I think it’s a little strange that “Item” is the only one that isn’t exactly translated… like did they just forget the “S”?
On a more interesting note though, this one for one translation here means we now have an official Scalian character for “V”. Unfortunately the character used is pretty scrapped away, so I can’t be 100% sure, but I do think I know which character is used.

(Click/tap on the images below… for whatever reason they were just not formatting correctly)

I also considered it being the one below, but because of the location of the flecks I lean more towards the first one.

I also might have translated another new Scalian character but I’m not sure…
See, on the bar at the top of the screen it says “[unknown character]ho[same unknown character]colates”. I spent at least an hour trying to find out all the possible English words what it could be. I just filled in the blanks tried anagrams, the whole shebang (except for trying that with the other languages that are most likely to be used. Those being Japanese, for obvious reasons, and Latin, which has been used in Scala Script before on the manhole covers in KH3 Scala) and came out with one possible word: Chocolate.
And I must be wrong because that makes no sense, but in case I’m right, it’s here.
I tried to cross reference with KH3 signs to no avail so I’m a bit stumped…
Maybe the little blurb on the other side makes it make sense but it’s too blurry for me to read.
Next up I’ll talk about the “Weather”.
The top text is decently clear so I was able to work that out pretty quickly (pros of being fluent in this fictional language I guess lol) and thanks to that clear text I was actually able to make out a bit more of what was below it than I would’ve otherwise. See, the smaller letters are pretty blurry but I’m able to vaguely make them out. The “L” and “W” were what I caught first and I filled in the blank between pretty fast with some pretty simple connections. Once I’d seen that I realized that there was probably a high there too, and there do seem to be “H”s on either side of the word above it… and a “G”… and an “I” (I think, I was trying to double check but my iPad has significantly worse image quality than my computer).
As for the temperature, I tried my best but the numbers are probably inaccurate. They are very blurry.
Last but not least, here are a few of my smaller notes.
I’m a big fan of the Moogle stamp, but I could not tell you what the first word on that thing is. The second is “news”, clear as day but the first word doesn’t have any characters I recognize other than the “S”. I tried coming up with possibilities through context but I’m drawing a blank.
I also love the little Potion and Elixir advertisement in the bottom corner. Like, I’m so charmed by the art for it. That being said though, I also have no clue what the text next to this one says. I’m sure it’s an onomatopoeia of some sort but once again my brain wasn’t working with me.
If you guys have any ideas please let me know. I always love to have discussions and help.
(Also I know I left a whole text box out… I honestly have nothing to say about that. Not enough characters I recognize to decipher anything at this point)
#AHHHHHHHH I’M LOOSING MY MIND IM SO EXCITED FOR ML#Like this ramble is just a small taste of where my brain has been all day#so many thoughts not enough time to write them all#kh#kingdom hearts#khml spoilers#khml#sometimes i think about ml

As we draw ever closer to the 5th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts III, I can't help but reflect more and more upon the realization I've had as of late. For well over a decade, ever since Dream Drop Distance, I have mourned the degradation of the KH series' story and characters, which only intensified after KH3 and all the bullshit it brought to the table in regards to those aspects. But now I understand just as important as those, if not moreso, is the degradation of the KH series' universe. After all, normally in a well-established fictional universe, even if one story with one cast of characters doesn't go over well, you can still potentially look forward to a different story with a different cast of characters unconnected to that other one. And there lies the biggest problem - for all the expansion of this increasingly convoluted lore, the series' universe has shrunk in scope because nothing is unconnected.
The state of the KH universe is that in the beginning it was populated with Keyblade wielders who, due to the machinations of a certain Keyblade master, fought a war over ownership of Kingdom Hearts that plunged the universe into darkness. But then a select few Keyblade wielders restored the universe, which created many more Keyblade wielders who joined up with them, and they essentially ruled over the universe from the shadows in this super special secret world called Scala ad Caelum. Eventually, the machinations of that same Keyblade master from before corrupts a Keyblade wielder who spends his whole life - through several points in time and several different incarnations of himself - trying to take control of Kingdom Hearts so that he could destroy and remake the universe again because he isn't satisfied with how it is now. He is stopped by other Keyblade wielders assembled by a retired Keyblade master, but it caused that damn conflict-creating Keyblade master and his pupils to somehow return, and now the story is venturing into "the realm of unreality" which turns out to have been a big part of that Keyblade master's goal the whole time that he's been working toward since damn near the inception of the universe....OK, do you see what I mean? Everything, and I mean everything, that goes on in this universe that is treated as important by the narrative is directly tied to this one item (Keyblade) and one class of people (Keyblade wielders), and has been scripted by this one omnipotent douchebag (the Master of Masters). Nothing is unconnected, all events and concepts tie back into the Keyblade, the important players who shape the universe are all a part of this one, tightly-knit web of connections, and as a result the universe feels so. fucking. small. It feels so utterly limited in scope and range.
Think of all the Disney worlds in this series, which make up the majority of the universe. Worlds from classic Disney shorts, Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, Tarzan, Aladdin, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Fantasia, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Tron, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Lilo & Stitch, The Jun The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tron LEGACY, Wreck-It Ralph, Toy Story, Tangled, Monsters Inc., Frozen, and Big Hero 6. And then afterwards, ask yourself this single, all-important question:
How many of these worlds matter to this universe's grand story?
The answer: THREE.
I shit you not. Disney Castle (classic Disney shorts), Yen Sid's Tower (Fantasia), and Enchanted Dominion (Sleeping Beauty) are the only worlds that hold any significance, all because of the characters who hail from there that interact with the universe's grand narrative: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Jiminy Cricket, Chip and Dale, Pluto, Pete, Yen Sid and Maleficent. And yes, I know that Jiminy technically hails from the Pinocchio world, but nothing about his life there prior to winding up at Disney Castle and entering Mickey's service as a chronicler for Sora's adventures really matters. Every other world is visited by Keyblade wielders, but its inhabitants never gets to meaningfully contribute to the story those Keyblade wielders are caught up in.....in fact, they are mostly kept ignorant of its very existence.
And the infuriating part is that it didn't used to be this way! Before the Keyblade overtook everything and was just one important part of a larger universe, the Disney worlds and its inhabitants were able to contribute! In KH1, the story was about the Heartless and the worlds' hearts and a group of villains conspiring to capture a group of princesses to obtain ultimate power and Sora broadening his horizons and making his heart stronger through making friends, all of which were serviced through the Disney elements. In KH2, the story was about Organization XIII and the Nobodies seeking to use the Heartless and the Keyblade for their own ends of obtaining ultimate power, with doing so involving threatening worlds and friends that Sora held dear, as well as competing with Pete and a resurrected Maleficent over usage of the Heartless. So again, the Disney worlds and their inhabitants actually participated in what's going on! Even BBS could be forgiven for not having the Disney worlds connect much to the overall plot (beyond a bunch of Unversed running around and barely anyone reacting) because it was a prequel, and naturally the developers didn't want many world inhabitants getting an inkling of a larger universe before the Heartless invasion of KH1 transpired.
But then it all shifted so that everything that happened in those games were all a part of Master Xehanort's convoluted grand plan which hadn't been remotely thwarted yet, meaning that retroactively all of those aforementioned games and events the Disney worlds and characters interacted with meant jack shit...and a point is now even being made about keeping specific Disney characters (the "new Seven Lights") out of the main action and ignorant to their potential role in it! And then it shifted again so that it's all about the Keyblade wielders of the ancient past and the Master of Master's grand designs, which means that those previously important Disney worlds and characters feel even less important than they already did following the big Master Xehanort reveal! From what I can tell, the only Disney world and character that may be gaining prominence in the universe's grander narrative is Olympus and Hades respectively, and even then only because he lucked out since Nomura wants to recreate Final Fantasy Versus XIII which involved a god of the dead. Otherwise, it's still all about the OC worlds and OC characters - nearly all of them Keyblade wielders - plus those select few Disney characters from those three worlds that actually know what's up.
That's the sad state of affairs. A supposedly vast universe where the majority of its settings and population....don't actually matter. To the point where they all may as well not be part of the universe but a separate one altogether. Daybreak Town / Scala ad Caelum, the Keyblade Graveyard, the Land of Departure / Castle Oblivion, Radiant Garden / Hollow Bastion, Twilight Town, The World That Never Was, the Final World and Quadratum...those worlds and the characters who populate them are the ones that truly matter to the universe. Those worlds plus those three (soon to be four) Disney worlds mentioned before, as well as all the goddamn datascape recreations of such worlds. It's a small (and boring) universe after all.
