When Regulus was ten years old, he’d overheard a conversation between his parents. Though maybe they had intended for him to hear, because no silencing charms were used.

“Orion, I don’t understand, I raised those boys right, just the way I was. Just the way you were.” His mother’s voice was filled with emotion, and Regulus had at that point never heard or seen any emotions other than anger and irritation from her, so it took him a while to place his mother’s emotion. Sadness. She was crying. “Sirius, I swear that boy is doing everything in his power to disobey and frustrate me. He’s always in my nerves. And Regulus. We’ve given him everything, but he’s still… wrong. What’s wrong with him Orion? Why can’t he be normal? I’ve done everything to fix him! What have i done wrong?” Her voice was interrupted by sobs and hiccups, and he could hear his father murmuring something back to her.

“If Hogwarts doesn’t work out for Sirius, there’s always Durmstrang. He’s got the Black-ambition, but he need to put it in the right place. Durmstrang can fix that. They’re keen on discipline for boys.” He said. “As for Regulus… there has been known complications in our blood. None like his illness, but others, and I suppose it could be something like that. And you’re right we’ve done all we can for him. Maybe it’s time to… place him somewhere. Not all children are fit for life. Plus, we’re still young, we can always have more children.”

Danny huddled beneath the mass of warm scales, trying to avoid the rain that sputtered and hissed into steam whenever it touched the resting form of the older halfa. He choked on broken chirps, burying his head against his tail. Everything hurt, one of his paws and wings gone- what had the wanted them for- 

He sniffled, not wanting to cry. At least- at least Jordan had managed to get them out, it could have been worse. Ancients, it could have been so much worse. Mom and Dad were… Ancients he didn’t want to even think about it- 

A huff of smoke wafted over him, and he looked up into Dan’s crimson eye- the other gone to do who knows what with. It was time to go- they couldn’t stay in one place, they had to keep moving lest the GIW catch up. They didn’t have a choice, not now, not if they didn’t want to die- if they ever could now. It didn’t matter. 

He stayed limp as he was picked up by the scruff, the rain soaking into his fur and scales (and still-healing injuries) as the larger dragon launched into the sky. They just had to keep moving, avoid any people, heroes included, and keep moving. Just keep moving.

Regulus realising that he actually misses his brother :,(

Sirius room back in Grimmauld place still looked the way it did the night he left. The Gryffindor posters were still stuck to the wall with the spells that Sirius had used to put them up. Some books were still spread out on the desk. Books about quidditch mostly. Regulus had always liked Sirius’ room, though he always pretended not to. It was the place where he’d gone to as a child after having a nightmare. It was the place he went when he scrubbed his knee, or when Bellatrix had upset him by calling him a name. Sirius was always the one who comforted him. Sirius would tell him to “shake the tingles off” in his room before going down to supper -which would help Regulus stay still under the scrutiny of their mother.

It hit him then how much he actually missed his brother. Before, from the time right after Sirius had left, he hid every embarrassing emotion behind a wall of burning anger, much of it copied from Walburga. He let the anger wash the sadness away.
