Day 9.1; I Don't Know

Whumpober; "You're a liar." AI-lesstober; interrogation Short and a good scene for another story I need to get to writing.

Whumpee didn't understand why they were being interrogated or why this Person questioned them about a serial killer when they were not even part of the city police. The Whumpee's first thought is this is the killer. "Who's killing all these people?!" The Person asks. "I don't know." "Whose there next target?!" "I said I don't know!" "You're a liar. You do know who's killing innocent people!" After being slapped in the face, Whumpee fears whoever this is will torture them until they give a name. The problem is Whumpee doesn't know anyone who they met a while ago and haven't seen since. Nor do they want to cause someone to be a target just to be freed. "Enough, Person A, it's obvious they don't know the killer. Let them go." Annoyed, Person A agrees. They could use Whumpee as bait, but they'd rather not risk another person being killed. Whumpee is freed, hoping to never see these people or the killer again.

Listening to 1 song on repeat for 5+ hours due to you got suddenly hit with a scene idea for your wip but you couldn't write it right then and there so you listen to it on repeat so you don't forget and to carry the energy and then when you finally get home\to a place you can write, you still listen to it on repeat until you are finished so you certain you didn't forget any of the parts brainstormed the many hours earlier.

My cousin, a published writer, a well-known poet in my country and a literature professor, for whom I've always been no.1 support ever since her first attempts at writing in high school, told me that I must stop writing as a hobby because that's her thing and since I'm writing fantasy mostly my writing could never have any important artistic value anyways.

#what happened was that i was feeling really down these past few days #like mental health dead in mariana trench #and i went to visit her because she lives like 10 minutes away and has a cat i can play with #but yesterday morning a friend of mine made a fanart (i guess i can call it that) of a fanfic i am writing for the five of them #she sent it to me and said she's also working on an actual painting on a camvas of her fave scene from my original story #and i was so surprised and exicted #that's actually a too mild description #and when i was visitting my cousin i showed her the pic of the drawing on my phone and explained it to her and she just said ....ehh..#and started texting someone #i was sitting there feeling stupid and thinking wow you could have at least praised my friend's art sytle or something #and when i was getting ready to leave she asked me if i was aware my writing has no artistic merit and fantasy is trivial literature #so i should just stop wasting time on that and focus on developing my art style more for her future poetry collections #i do the art for her book covers #and added how we already have an established writer in the family so i should focus on my role - becoming a good pharmacist #and she knows how much i hate that i'm studying pharmacy like it's the no.1 cause of me hating the direction in which my life is going #finished it off by saying she feels like what she's doing in going to be really great and important on a large scale one day #and how she wants me to continue being her shadow that follows and supports her #i left went home and started at a wall for hours #i just feel so dumb for getting excited over a silly drawing of something not more than 5 people will ever read #i genuinely hate the idea of people reading anything i write so most likely writing will just remain a hobby for me #and now i feel like the most stupid person on earth and am this close to deleting all my word documents from both my laptops

the first chapter of lover boy is really intense on an emotional level because So Many Things happen in quick succession it's like beau barely gets a chance to breathe and process it. meanwhile RR opening chapter is just felix and dorothy arguing in a laundromat.

#i used to have a problem with the lover boy first chapter bc i was like #i know what needs to happen thematically and i know the main plot beat that needs to happen to push it forward #but i didnt have any actual like. action to move to story to that place #in a way that had a causal chain #and now im like um!!!! is too much happening #anyway my other writing problem i realised via this chapter is i worry sooo much about the idea of coincidences #like the idea of just 'letting' something happen...in lb mainly two characters being in the same place at the same time #im like there has to be an intricate explanation for all of this which like yeah thats good to think about #but i also think coincidences are an important part of plot bc first of all coincidences happen #but its also not just the coincidence its the decisions the character s made that got them to that time and place #why they made those decisions and what they do afterwards etc....#anyway! i dont know where i was going with that #RR chapter one.....ngl....its SOOO bad lol #like structurally. the prose is fine #but its been 3 years and 5 different opening scenes for that novel and NONE of them hit #but that's a problem for future me #the thing is most of my ideas now come with an opening but RR never came with an opening just the concept #because the rest of the novel slayyyyys #actually i think out of all 3 my favourite atm is the third book LOL #update literally 10 minutes after writing these tags i have an idea for a new RR opening team that i want to sink my teeth into #6th time's a charm!

Speed Ran through Mario Galaxy 2 Yesterday while sick because I couldn't remember why I disliked it so much and wanted to see if that was just younger me being biased. It was not.

But I regained my love for Lubba and Dino Piranha, so that's something at least.

A woman from the 1940s fell out of time and fell in with a group of time travelers. She's been time-traveling for several years and parters with a guy from somewhere within a spacefaring future. The two of them happen to travel somewhere within a Christmas season similar to what she remembers, and she gets extremely nostalgic for Christmastime and the family she left behind. She wants to visit them, but the thing is, according to history she died in the Blitz, and the rules of time travel don't allow her to interact with anyone from the timeline of her lifespan. They can jury-rig a way for her to see the proceedings, but she'll be outside the normal flow of time, unseen, unheard and undetected by anyone around her. A Christmas ghost. She decides the risk is worth it and goes to see them. Heartstring-tugging sentiment ensues.

I've spent almost two months trying to get the first chapter of this HTTYD fic written. Some of these characters and scenes just do not want to cooperate. In the meantime, here's a scene that did come pretty easily.

"Are you sure about this, Gobber?" Stoick asked, for what had to be at least the fifteenth time.

"Yes, Stoick," said the blacksmith, a hint of annoyance creeping into his voice. "They'll all be fine."

"But did it have to be him? Is he really prepared to handle this? Does he have any idea what he's doing?" Stoick waved his hands, clearly agitated. "No offense, but has he ever even killed a dragon before?"

Gobber considered this, and realized he didn't actually know. Best not to mention that part.

"Of course he has!" Gobber replied. "But that's not important. The important thing is to make sure that the kids learn how to survive, and to do that, they need to know their enemy. And no one knows more about the beasts than he does-- he's practically a modern-day Bork!"

Even Stoick couldn't deny that.

"And why can't you do it? You know, the way you have for years and years." He didn't appear willing to give up on this point, so Gobber just sighed and admitted the truth.

"I'm not getting any younger, Stoick," he explained. "And between my regular duties and training the new apprentice, I just don't have the time or energy to also handle dragon training. I'd think if anyone would understand that, it would be you."

"Aye," said Stoick. "I do understand. I suppose I'm just worried about... you know."

Gobber did know. That was the problem.

"Mhm," he grumbled noncommittally.

"Speaking of your new apprentice, how is he doing?" Stoick seemed to have decided changing the subject was the best course of action here, and Gobber would not complain.

"Oh, a right terror he is," said Gobber, sighing. "Always touching everything and knocking things over and getting into trouble. Not so different from the last one."

"The last one, eh?" Stoick smiled.

"And just as clever, too," laughed the blacksmith. "I have high hopes for the boy. I have a feeling that when I finally do get around to retiring, the forge will be in good hands."

September 10, Aegis's birthday, and I finished my story's first draft!!!!!!!!!!!

The first original long story I managed to stick to and finish. Took a little over a year. WOOH

It ended at 103,965 words. Which was 20,000 more than I'd aimed for but thankfully way shorter than I was fearing the word count would climb.

I am collapsing now that this long term project's in a place where I can take a break, I'm going to do non project hobbies for a while like reading and games. I am so hype that I finished this draft. Past mejo would be so fucking over the moon I managed to write the story down, finallyyyyy
