As someone who got into science fiction later in life, I find it quite comforting to see that there are still a lot of people obsessing and discussing about tv shows that were on the air 30 years ago.
It makes me feel much less alone, and connected to a whole group of people who, like me, find some of these stories and characters so compelling they can't not talk about them and share their love for the narratives.
And that's the power of fiction, of stories that make us feel closer to our humanity and to humanity in general.

There's an ancient super soldier. She looks like a human to most, with a slender but muscular build, and tattoos covering her dark brown skin. But there's something uncanny about her, something that makes her seem off even when she tries to dress in modern clothes. It's like she's trying to be human but isn't. There's a reason why she can't even hold down a job as a cover for what she is, even the way she acts is uncanny.
Most of her freinds wonder about her. She probably lived to see humanity at its peak, during the reign of Atlantis and the Fomorians, when earth's technology was at its peak. Some people wonder of she's an android, or some sort of clone, she's not, even if she hasn't eaten or slept in thousands of years. Even her freinds don't fully know what she is. She's the type of person who most people only talk about in the past tense, whose life would have been convenient for society if she had died during the flood. Even the cryptids and the ufos don't understand her now.
She gaurds something. Perhaps a tomb. A lot of people assume it's something powerful, but when archeologists did scans they picked up that whatever might have been important there was rotted away. It's historically important but that's it, and she'll let no one in.
There's the memory of someone or something in there. Someone who was close to her probably, who she thought she would gaurd forever, so now she does. She'd weep for whatever lost memory it is, whatever memory stands of someone who will be erased from history when she dies. Whoever it was is someone who she would stand for in the cold for a thousand years, someone who she'll never hold again, never see smile again, yet still her loyalty does not waver.

I was just rereading the Witching Hour and I read this part, I remembered when pple used to criticize Anne's latest books, saying she changed her writing and tone on account of the unreliable #science stuff she was writing, specially in Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis. So i just wanted to quote this and show you guys she's been writing that shit since 1990. Her writing and tone had not changed. You just haven't read enough of her books. :)

Hiya! I put this over on LJ, thought I’d try here too: it’s a teen wolf/stargate atlantis fusion. All I remember is stiles sensing atlantis on Pegasus approach onboard the Daedalus and him eventually being able to traverse the gate network without a dhd. Ring any bells? Thanks!
Hi @bucksgonna-buck! anon says it's this one.

Second Galaxy to the Right and Straight On Til Morning by spurklie
(1/1 I 16,679 I Explicit I Sterek)
Stiles is reading reports on his tablet and drinking from a bottle of water in the base mess hall when he realises there is someone standing at his table. Dragging his eyes up from the calculations, he chokes on his water and then spits some all over Derek, who barely flinches.

I love that, fundamentally, Radek is a gentle, soft man
Yet when it comes to Rodney, he yells so much. He's the only person on the science team who stands up to Rodney, calls him out on his bullshit, and regularly gets into shouting matches with him
There was also the incident with the metal pole when everyone lost their memory
I just like that while he IS a gentle, soft little man, he can and will throw down when necessary and that "when necessary" is caused by Rodney McKay like 97% of the time

Actually, historically, we hosts have never stuck together. Kind of a host-eat-host world.

bestieeeeeeeeee i would like some Info Dumping about the asteroid field scene in sga pls and thank yooooooooooooou gimme all the Fun Facts
omg ok ok ok SO im gonna go full mckay here alright so just keep that in mind just listen listen asteroid fields? not that densely packed. at all. theyre so far apart from each other theyre barely in each others gravity fields theyre just atlantis was not in peril in that way the big asteroids can't- its not physically possible for them to be that close together the gravity would cause them to collide with each other please cinema stop making densely packed asteroid fields you're making my heart sad
HOWEVER
the micro asteroids are entirely accurate everything in space is moving incredibly fast and speed equals kinetic energy and we all know e=mc² tiny amount of mass incredible amount of energy those teeny tiny asteroids WOULD be like bullets same devastating effect same or faster speeds why couldnt THAT be the entire peril those little whizzing space pebbles couldve knocked out systems it happens all the time on the iss AND to top it all off the tiny ones ARE that densely packed so they could be knocking out systems left and right they could be breaking windows cracking crystals severing wires you name it theyd break it
matter of fact, John's predictable solution of blowing up the big asteroids in their way was actually possibly making matters worse because ✨️shrapnel✨️ while yes you can shoot a bazooka at a chair and it'll get out of your way, there will be splinters in everything in a 50 foot (or more) radius thats just how explosives work
