Series I, Part VI
SCP-027 - The Vermin God
This is another one that’s just sort of tragic. The SCP itself is some unknown force that causes vermin to swarm around an (apparently randomly selected) individual, who can’t turn it off or control it. As such, the Foundation has the guy in containment, and he’s just kinda got to deal with it. It’s sad. Guy didn’t do anything (except be involved in the investigation into the first known host), and now he’s got a vermin swarm.
This is also one of the first cases I’ve really noticed of a poorly placed [DATA EXPUNGED] ruining the mood of a skip. Here’s the quote: Shortly thereafter, crawling animals (including lice, cockroaches, worms, spiders, [DATA EXPUNGED], mice, and rats) will begin to appear; What could that be? What could they possibly need to redact there? It doesn’t make the thing creepier in any way, it just makes it seem goofy. And it loses a point for that.
6/10
SCP-028 - Knowledge
This one’s just sort of weird. You walk into the area, you gain complete knowledge of a random subject. It’s neat, if a little bland. I think the report would’ve been better served by more reports of banal knowledge gained from it, rather than “complete knowledge of SCPs” or “seemingly normal thing and also [DATA EXPUNGED] about it.”
5/10
SCP-029 - Daughter of Shadows
This one might have real world religious/mythological basis? I’m not sure, and I’m not familiar enough with the religion in question to actually know. It’s an Indian girl who might be connected to Kali or might just be some sort of unrelated entity who’s co-opted that mythology. Either way, she’s evil, she likes to kill people by strangling them, and her skin is slowly turning all black. It’s fine. I don’t really care for it, but I don’t hate it, either.
5/10
SCP-030 - The Homonculus
Another one that’s just kinda weird! I like Ariel. They’re just a creature. A little clay dude of unknown origin who just wants to do science. They’re cool.
7/10
SCP-031 - What is Love?
I’m just not feeling this one. It’s a creepy sort of plant monster in a hotel. It may be causing spatial anomalies. It’s whatever.
2/10
SCP-032 - Brothers’ Bride
I’m told this one has connections to another SCP (1440, apparently), and while I am going to check that out for more context, I said at the outset that I was going to look at each skip as its own thing. And taken on its own, I don’t know how I feel about it.
It’s weird. As is probably becoming increasingly obvious at this point, I like the “weird” ones more than I like the specifically “horror” ones. The problem is that the weirdness of this one is hard to pin down – it harms living things and unprocessed things. However, because it’s so specifically a counterpart to 1440, it’s kind of hard to evaluate it on without that. It’s a cool idea, and the writing of this one is really good, but without the additional context the story feels incomplete.

I decided to go back and look at the first SCPs to see if it really was just a bunch of Creepy Monster Guys, because I distinctly remembered a lot of creepy flesh rooms and creepy children rather than Slendermen.
Because the first one was a Slenderman, the Weeping Angel SCP-173 - the first, “dont’ break eye contact” guy.
But I couldn't exactly remember the order of release, and couldn't find a good chart of the ones after 173, so went to the SCP calendar (https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-calendar/date/2008.7/p/2), and looked at the next 24 to be archived after July 2008.
SCP-002 - the fleshy room that converts people into furniture. (FLESH ROOM)
SCP-004 - a door leading to a anomalous spacial environment.
SCP-006 - a spring with “fountain of youth” properties
SCP-015 is a mass of pipes, vents, boilers and other various plumbing apparatus completely filling a warehouse. The pipes grow and move when not observed, and are noted to be made of materials such as glass, concrete, and even flesh and bone (FLESH ROOM)
SCP-008- classified.
SCP-882 appears to be a random assembly of gears, cables, pulleys, screws, and belts, all made of an amalgam of various metals. Instills the urge to be ground in the gears in people around it. (Wants to be a FLESH ROOM)
SCP-007 - a guy with a missing stomach and a miniature earth in place. The guy isn't a Slenderman though.
SCP-013-ARC - a sphere that grants visions to religious people.
SCP-021 - a body-jumping parasitic dragon tattoo that feeds on pigmentation and ink.
SCP-030 - Ariel the clay-man (our second SLENDERMAN, but he's fairly benevolent)
SCP-037 - a 2cm wide star
SCP-042- a bizarre horse with bone spurs.
SCP-043 - a voice that speaks from the final track of the Beatles’ "The White Album"
SCP-132 – an empathic woman that secretes a black goo when overwhelmed with emotions
SCP-054 - water elemental undine thing (Two wet women in a row, and our third SLENDERMAN but she really doesn't do anything)
SCP-055 is a "self-keeping secret" or "anti-meme". (These things just start showing up everywhere)
SCP-053 - the 3-year-old girl who enrages people in her presence.
SCP-409 - the big self-replicating crystal
SCP-718 - the big self-replicating eye
SCP-162 - the tantalizing bundle of sharp things
SCP-455 - a large cargo ship with fleshy rooms (FLESH ROOMS on THE HIGH SEAS)
SCP-406 - the big self-replicating suspended flesh (Combining the two earliest tropes of the foundation, the FLESH ROOM AND REPLICATOR. It just needs a WET WOMAN and creepy child).
SCP-040 - another creepy child, this time, a mutater.
SCP-105 - a woman who can manipulate objects in photos.
So it did seem to start out with more of a dry tone of here's a weird object or a flesh room.
I’m going to use this a tool to look up the 25 most recent ones:
Scp-8595 - A cockroach who thinks he’s a food critic
Scp-8053 - a notebook with animated stick figures that ask you to draw a friend and then jump on the skin.
SPC-7000 - a guy who specializes in punching sharks. I actually stopped to check if this was an April fools thing, but I guess not.
Scp-8138 - a smelly guy.
Scp-8048 - a 20-inch-tall "Rippin' Reaper" Halloween decoration with dripping human organs.
Scp-zh-716 - a stele on the moon that projects an image of a six-fingered man.
SCP-8104 - “is a 29 year old human female transgender male, previously known as Atlas Keystone. SCP-8104 is 185 cm tall, with curly blonde hair and purple eyes1. SCP-8104 possesses impossibly comprehensive knowledge of most subjects, as well as a detailed memory of many SCPs that were beyond its former clearance level as an Ethics Committee Liaison. When asked, SCP-8104 claims that it has lived for 100,452 years. According to the object, every time it dies it "wakes up" on it's first day of foundation employment with full memory of its past lives.” Then the entry turns into a rape report.
SCP-8681 - the rotting skull of a beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) - one of those filler ones with no detail.
SCP-8499 - a patch of land in the Arabian Desert that gives individuals one of eight possible hallucinations of past lives of a mechanical humanoid of vast proportions with a feminine build, SCP-8499-A, featuring a man, his wife, and some followers.
Scp-6826 - Apologetic carrier, a bipedal creature that gives people Lyme disease and is partially rewarded during containment by churros
SCP-8042 is a black metallic cube that eats dogs
SCP-8416 - the frequency of the farside of the Moon that make people in certain random regions hallucinate a functional reality.
SCP-8478 - a Three-Portlands entity, is an anomalous theatrical experience known as 'Sense'. Ah, Three Portlands...
SCP-7383 is Branch Office 2 of the Surrealistics Division Headquarters Site. It’s another gag.
SCP-8350 designates an endangered species of intelligent polymorphs capable of human speech, named the Apaseans, with less than 200 remaining members, individually designated as SCP-8350 instances. Apaseans are distinguished from similar species of shapeshifters by their unique memetic ability to deceive and persuade others on a large scale and with significant efficacy
SCP-8220 is a three-layered vanilla cake with strawberry and blueberry toppings. A plastic ornament reading 'happy birthday' is partially buried inside SCP-8220 and can only be removed by an individual on their birthday.
SCP-8145 is contained within its own description, another one of those evil memes.
SCP-8155 - another one of those evil memes.
SCP-8069 an oinking clock that controls pigs
SCP-ES-115 - a train-station in Zaragoza, Spain but the trains are made of body parts. (This one needs a bit more work to make the creepy hit, but it actually feels like an early entry).
SCP-341-KO - a flying saucer made by a Korean elementary schooler and the cell phones she used to call home with (phone still works on Mars).
SCP-953-KO is a dangerous anomaly that takes over and mimics people.
SCP-8709- an alien intelligence that emits black body radiation. One of those words words words entries.
I don't know, I'm feeling the tone shift.
It's a sad fact that every long running universe based upon themes and tones of isolation, limiality, and cosmic horror gets worn down by overexplanation, overpopulation of the universe with entities, overuse, and eventually irony and financial exploitation. Derlething happened to Lovecraft, it happened to SCPs, it happened in record times to the backrooms.

What's wring with Site 030?
It's contaminated head to toe by SCP 5789, "Fear Personified". Every square inch of the site hosts your worst fears.
Any research was remotely accessed and retrieved, so there's nothing of big importance there, besides the skip

Item #: SCP-030
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-030 is to be held at Site-17 within a modified humanoid containment cell. Minor adaptations to accommodate its stature, such as an appropriately-scaled workspace and chair, are to be included. Lighting within the cell may be altered upon request of SCP-030 to a maximum of 2000 lumens via a simple dimmer switch. Should the need to render SCP-030 inert arise, staff may extinguish the lighting from the exterior switch and draw blackout curtains as necessary. Standard night-vision equipment is available for observation of SCP-030 in its inert state.
SCP-030 may request materials for personal research every 90 days. All previously requested materials are to be collected and destroyed prior to delivery of new materials. All materials are to be evaluated and screened by both research and security staff. SCP-030 is to be denied access to any modern scientific journals or texts, and fiction is to be restricted to works produced no later than 1623 CE to preserve the integrity of its innate knowledge.
Staff wishing to consult with SCP-030 in writing are to place a formal request (document #030-RS/B) with the supervising researcher on duty. All correspondence is to be retained. Staff wishing to consult with SCP-030 in person are to submit a formal request to site management (documents 030-RP/A and 17-030/A) at least 30 days prior to their preferred consultation date. All consultations are to be recorded and retained. Senior research staff may request SCP-030 be temporarily removed from its containment for a maximum of one hour to provide observational insight into non-restricted materials or events within Site-17. Under no circumstances is SCP-030 to leave the confines of Site-17. Requests must be presented in person to site management and security staff at least 30 days prior to their preferred observational release date. All observational release events are to be recorded and retained. SCP-030 has been equipped with a tracking device (inventory control code #030-17-1) so its location within Site-17 may be determined precisely at any time.
Description: SCP-030 appears as a hairless, genderless, grey-toned human 71 centimeters (28 inches) in height and weighing 12.70 kilograms (two British stone). Its solid blue eyes lack discernible irises or pupils, and resemble small cut sapphires. SCP-030 possesses an androgynous voice with a pronounced English accent not currently identifiable as specific to any modern region. It is able to converse, read and write in Ancient Greek, Latin, Italian, English, Spanish and Portuguese as well as two (2) additional languages that have not yet been identified despite SCP-030's insistence that they should be "common knowledge." SCP-030 has also demonstrated knowledge of physics, chemistry, astronomy, mathematics and horticulture roughly equivalent to that of a 17th-century CE academic. In addition, SCP-030 has demonstrated knowledge on these topics along research lines that do not appear in the historical record. These alternative or entirely unknown approaches to research in the natural sciences are one source of SCP-030's utility in consultation.
SCP-030 remains active while a 15-lumen source of light or greater is within 1.5 meters (5 feet). In the absence of light, SCP-030 becomes inert, apparently losing consciousness and showing no outward signs of life. Within five to ten (5-10) seconds of being re-exposed to light, SCP-030 becomes active once more, appearing to come out of a light slumber no matter how long the period of inactivity has been. SCP-030 does not appear to require these periods of inactivity as a human would require sleep, and has expressed a desire to remain active as often as possible.
Biopsy analysis of SCP-030 remains inconclusive. While clays native to the English counties of Kent, Surrey, and Greater London make up the majority of its structure, traces of mandrake (Mandragora officinarum), lye, mercury, and human blood have been found in each sample taken. SCP-030 has expressed that a full exploratory surgery to determine its workings would potentially end its existence. Samples removed from SCP-030 do not regenerate, and sampling is currently discontinued to preserve its integrity. Although SCP-030 can be damaged, it does not appear to feel pain, and will simply re-mold any portion of its anatomy that experiences deformation. Notably, SCP-030 cannot be molded directly by human hands, though any number of tools may be used to alter its surface. SCP-030 does not respirate, requires no sustenance, and produces no waste, although it does infrequently request a bath.
SCP-030 refers to itself as "Ariel" and regularly requests that staff do the same. Questions regarding how SCP-030 was created and by whom are routinely answered with the seemingly rote statement: "I have been asked to forget that bit of information. Terribly sorry." SCP-030 delivers this response in the same tone and cadence each time any question regarding its origins or creator are presented. Given its composition and location of origin, a link to the Alchemists of Alagadda is suspected.
SCP-030 was discovered 6/12/████ during a mandatory archaeological survey within London's Mortlake District pending construction of a car park. It was buried approximately 2.7 meters (9 feet) below street level, contained in a small stone sarcophagus. The sarcophagus bore no markings and was assumed to be that of a deceased infant as additional graves were discovered in the survey area. The sarcophagus lid was shattered during the excavation, exposing SCP-030 to daylight. Upon being struck by the sun's rays, SCP-030 roused from its inert state to one of mild activity within a few seconds, stating, "Good afternoon" to the assembled construction team. A member of the Foundation's Greater London recon force was summoned within hours and took the specimen into custody without resistance. The limited number of witnesses were given amnestics and released.
Addendum: Document 030-C: Security Logs for SCP-030
9/14/████: Tracking system installed for SCP-030.
12/21/████: SCP-030 reports malfunction of its own tracking system. Repairs completed within six (6) hours. SCP-030 offers to assist, but is refused for security purposes.
3/13/████: SCP-030 completes 18-week seminar on Unknown Language Alpha (known as "Zephyr"), five (5) staff researchers considered fluent. Lexicography transmitted to O5-█.
7/2/████: While in consultation, Researcher ██████████ inadvertently makes several remarks regarding photovoltaic technology. Consultation ended before the researcher can substantively elaborate.
8/12/████: SCP-030 requests a supply of Magnesium and indicates it intends to ignite samples to study the light produced. Request denied by researchers.
11/14/████: Incident 030-1: Using only what appears to be standard potting soil, ginger (Zingiber officinale), a 72-gram sample of rutilated quartz, and a 23 cm length of coiled copper wire, SCP-030 produces a device capable of emitting notable levels of directed ultraviolet light through unknown means. Device is confiscated. Effects not currently replicable without direct intervention from SCP-030. Researchers currently in consultation to determine if this line of SCP-030's research will be permitted to continue. It is speculated SCP-030 may be working towards an alternative and possibly anomalous manifestation of the photoelectric effect after receiving only minimal information regarding its existence. All research by SCP-030 suspended and materials removed pending review.

SCP-030: The Homunculus
This SCP is a small humanoid creature, measuring roughly 2.3 feet tall. Its biological mass is largely composed of clay found only in particular areas of England, and its eyes are solid blue, appearing like cut sapphires. This SCP is sentient and possesses knowledge and intellect roughly equivalent to a 17th-century academic; in order to preserve the SCP’s integrity, it is not allowed to view any modern scientific information nor fictional texts from after 1623 CE. SCP-030’s knowledge seems to stem from more than one universe, as it knows things that do not appear on any historical record. It speaks with an English accent that cannot be traced to any particular region.
The SCP regularly requests materials for personal research purposes. It is also light-controlled: if the room is darkened, the SCP falls into an inert, ‘death’-like state until the lights are turned back on, at which point it reanimates as if nothing had happened. It can remain in suspended animation for unlimited time with no ill effects and doesn’t seem to need to enter suspended animation to survive in the same way that humans need sleep to do the same.
TL;DR? A small little grey research person. Protect at all costs.

Question
Do sol sleeptalk or sleepwalk?
We know hesper is the child of the night, like you say.
Ah yes, I should explain Sol's curse!
Sol is like a plant; he needs the sun to be active. Direct sunlight makes him more hyper than even Wind. Cloudy/Rainy days make him slow and lethargic. And night, well...
He looks dead to the world. Think SCP-030.
So no, he doesn't sleeptalk or sleepwalk.
Hesper can sleep standing up, though!

Who is your fave SCP???
oh god anon ive had a lot of favorites and im not sure if i remember all of them but i guess i can toss out at least SOME of what ones i like. also not all of them are "who"s, i have a number of favorite SCPs that are relatively inanimatethese are in not entirely any particular order, but i guess i'll lump them by categories for ease of reading-food-related:SCP-348 (bowl of soup; this one's mainly just sweet and not unnerving at all (except for One testing log is a little bit))SCP-261 (the pan-dimensional vending machine... its just neat)SCP-458 (pizza box that when touched replicates the person's favorite pizza)SCP-294 (the coffee machine that dispenses any liquid you type in... again I Just Think It's Neat)animals:SCP-529 (Josie the Half-Cat... she's a kitty idk what anyone expected of me)SCP-530 (Carl the Variable Dog.. again. just friend and boy material... also it feels illegal to separate mentions of him from mentions of Josie since i think people know of josie more than they do about carl and thats sad to me)SCP-511 (unnerving, fair warning for some body horror type descriptions. anomalous "cat" that lives amongst a cat colony. the colony show signs of neglect and 511 itself sounds uhhh... zombie-like but also frankenstien-like are the least upsetting ways i can warn, i think.)humanoids:SCP-2428 (Mr. Mad from the Dr. Wondertainment series. only appears to one person at a time as a hallucination. hes nothing too weird or scary really i just Like Him.. the entire wondertainment series is interesting but i've never been sure of the reading order of the tales for it and i think ive missed several, but like... its worth looking into. surely there's a list somewhere for best reading order)SCP-2396 (Ms. Sweetie, also a Wondertainment scp. produces candies within a 6km radius of herself that only affect masculine-identified humans into... basically big humanoid candy-creatures (but sometimes.. unicorns))SCP-030 ('Ariel', small clayish animate statue? i guess. i dont really understand whats going on with this one but they're Neat)misc:SCP-700 (building with somewhat-animate graffiti, little bit spooky but interesting. some body horror in part of this as it implies the building sort of.. 'consumes' people in order for said graffiti to show up?)SCP-2295 (patchworky teddy bear; anomalously makes replacement cloth organs to replace damaged ones on nearby humans, there is literally nothing scary or bad about this little dude (fair warning for One (1) sad test log entry though))SCP-999 (big mass of orange slime. acts "dog-like". literally.... friend and boy. i love you 999)SCP-3999 ("I Am At The Center Of Everything That Happens To Me"/Researcher Talloran. its... its just? i don't know what to say about this one it's really weird but like? i loved it? i think i should warn maybe for unreality and implications of s uicide though)also you did not ask for anything non-SCP article from me but if i dont proclaim my love for Duke Till Dawn in this answer somewhere i might have to shrivel up and diei also "like" SCP-1981 ("Ronald Reagen Cut Up While Talking") but i say like in quotes because i hold an intense amount of fearful hate for that one actually. idk why that one gets to me but it really did so i absolutely DESPISE it but it gets honorable mention for being one of few i can remember having that much fear impact on me.this got SUPER long im sorry... you opened an absolute can of worms here because even though i forget numbers all the time for these i have a Bit of a special interest about SCPs. i’m gonna reblog this from myself to add links just so i Know this shows in tags because. i am a fool and i want more people to know some of these SCPs specifically
