The Colossus shifted position, prompting both of them to watch it cautiously, but it settled again after a moment. “Whatever Tali’s claimed, Shepard lives up to it,” Garrus said. “If you overstate Shepard’s capabilities, she’ll see your exaggeration and raise you something extra, just because she can.” “I wasn’t sure how much hero worship would have colored Tali’s perceptions,” Kal said cautiously. “She’s young - it’s easy to make heroes out of your leaders when you’re that young.” “In position,” Shepard said in his ear at that moment. “Be ready.” “Tell me after if you think it’s hero worship,” Garrus said wryly. Kal’Reegar shrugged and shouldered his rifle again.

Shadows Fall, Chapter 3: New Horizons

“Who are you?” Shepard asked, facing the Collector from halfway behind cover. “We are Harbinger.” “We?” Shepard gestured with the barrel of her shotgun and stepped out from behind the crate. “You seem to be alone on the field right now, Harbinger.” There was a shaky tone to her voice. “More are coming,” it replied. Garrus knew he was far from an expert on Collector communication, but this Harbinger’s tone was always the same - not flat, but contained, without inflection or variance. “More will always come.” “Maybe,” Shepard said, aiming her shotgun, “but you won’t be here to greet them.” She fired three times in rapid succession. Harbinger staggered, dropping its feet to the ground, and then looked up at Shepard again. The edges of its flesh were disintegrating to ash as it locked eyes with her. “This body is irrelevant - the flesh is a machine. More will come, and we will be with them.” ~ Horizon brings surprises - and a reckoning.
