I almost don't want to give the Palladinos credit here, but I half think that there was something going on offscreen with Jess around episodes 5 and 6 of Season 5 of Gilmore Girls. Episode 5 is the wretched double date episode where Luke and Dean fight, and Episode 6 is the one where Lorelai finds out that Sherry left Gigi with her worthless father and Rory seeks out Christopher and tells him to stay away from Lorelai before he screws up her life again.
I believe Jess is only mentioned in these two episodes. In the double date episode, Luke is ranting about how Dean is not good for Rory (Lorelai's response is that "their problems were mutual" and Luke "doesn't know the whole story" which is funny because those additional details would definitely not endear Luke to the guy) and Lorelai asks if she should date Jess instead (Paris AND Marty are right there, Lorelai. Just sayin').
In episode 6, Luke and Lorelai bicker over the porch light being broken and Lorelai says the last person to change it was Dean and again argues on his behalf because Jess never bothered to change the light.
At this point in the story, Rory is still dating Dean and realizing the only thing they have in common is misplaced nostalgia and is trying to corner Logan to get the lowdown on the Life and Death Brigade. Rory has her adventure with the LDB the next episode and Dean dumps her the episode after that when he sees her partying with Logan and his friends. She's in the process of moving on with her life and leaving Dean behind.
So what was going on with Jess? I figure the final rejection by Rory probably gave him the push he needed to write the book, end his mediocre "messenger" career, probably get his GED, and move to Philadelphia to start his new life (and of course, begin the Slutty Philadelphia Jess era). Obviously that doesn't happen all at once, so I figure he probably wasn't ready to move until at least the spring/fall, but things had likely begun to progress by this point and Luke probably knew he was planning to move and had mentioned it to Lorelai...who is still dubious, still pushing for Dean over Jess, still trying to rationalize Rory's affair even as the incident seems to have moved her further back into the past, not the future (and likely trying to be supportive so that Rory doesn't push her away again, because she now knows Rory can and will stop talking to her and will bring up Lorelai's own mistakes if she feels she's being too judgmental).
Meanwhile, Jess is actually moving forward offscreen instead of trying to relive his high school years. Would have been nice to see some of that.
Milo was unavailable during this time, as he was a season regular on NBC's American Dreams. They had a shortened season, but networks aren't always amenable to lending out their actors to the competition (the only other season Milo doesn't pop in as a guest star after he left the show is season 7, when he again was a regular on another NBC show). I don't think this was necessarily planned ahead of time, but the backstory works nicely for what was going on with Jess at the time.

I published 20 fanfictions in 2022. 81, 936 words of completed short fiction! I want to revel in this achievement, so here is a list of all 20 Cawis fics in various catagories. All but two are Supernatural based. Give them a read if they strike you as interesting:
I just think that women... (sapphicnatural)
Did you know that women can fall in love? I sure did!
Growing A New Half Soul (E) (Jody/Donna) (17,996 words)
Created for the @spnbangbang, with art by the incomperable @solstheimart this combines two of my greatest loves, bisexual women and fake dating. Ft disablednatural, femme Donna, and romance. I'm so proud of this one.
Thorns Around A Rose (T) (Meg/Bela) (2,932 words)
Two boss babes trying to out-manipulate each other in the Hell of my own making. The women have sick horns and they also, deep down, have sick hearts.
Pillow Talk (G) (Jo/Mary) (740 words)
I was thinking about how wonderful it is that sapphicnatural girlies and boyos will go out of our way to give these women chances to love with people they literally never met. I think that's beautiful so I wrote this.
Past to Present (series) (G/E) (Charlie/Mary) (3,253 words)
Started off with a nice little 'what if they were friends, maybe Mary's a nerd too' and then got a horny sequel haha. I'll take this opportunity to shout out the Suptober prompts writing challenge, I wouldn't have written 20 fics without it!
I got themes, they're multiplying... (specifically, sad ones)
What can I say, I like the boy miserable. From here on out these will all be Dean/Cas or without a pairing.
O I Say, Now These Are The Soul (series) (M/E) (12,107 words)
This one is one I took very seriously and I think it paid off. Dean gets locked out of his own body and experiences dissociation, with moments of respite when he's able to hitch a lift. It has silly jokes in it also. I'm especially pleased with how many different ways I came up with for voiceless ghost Dean to communicate! With a lighthearted horny sequel because I had initally planned the first part to be that and then Dean kept getting upset lmao.
If I Cross Your Mind (G) (1,097 words)
Dean spiralling in a post-tmwwbk prayer, based on the Dolly Parton song of the same name. It's all monologue babyyyyy, with a ton of Dean-isms. "Amen, I guess, if you’re into that kind of thing".
Brought to the Flame (G) (1,044 words)
Dean spiralling from a more different Cas death. Sorry baby you're just so compelling when miserable....
Meg Meg Meg Meg Meg...(Meanstiel)
Labyrinth (G) (1,263 words)
Early seasons Dean trapped in a maze and it hasn't even got David Bowie in it. But you see the maze is also in his own mind, do you see, it's what we in the biz call a 'metaphor' lol.
I adore the Meg/Cas/Dean dynamic it's soooo spicy mm mm yummy delicious
Fear of the Dark (T) (3,406 words)
Honey!Cas era, with a delightfully ambiguous relationship between the three of them. I had a great time not fully explaining what was going on in everyone's heads, I think this is like the best example of my ideal dialogue writing style.
;) ... (;))
i guess you are good for something (E) (22,761) (ongoing)
They have fraught hot threesomes and it's all about Meg and Cas more than Dean, sorry Dean, this is about Them. I was shocked to see that I'd begun this only last year! Personally defining piece of writing. It's the only one that I didn't complete and then post so maybe the pacing and arcs are not very polished but I love her. My longest work! Only one chapter to go!
What if there were fanfictions that were horny. This is my bold new vision:
Indulge (E) (1,329)
Cas being used as a sex toy (lovingly). I just think he'd like having a task that he can choose whether or not he fulfils and also he and Dean love each other very much.
Stick and Poke (M) ()
Cas gets a tattoo from Dean and they're both soooo horny about it. Insane people. Insane people who do love each other very much.
The Forest For Trees (E) (1,617)
Okay this one actually is more about jealousy than having hotsex but it is in there. Also, I don't know if you've heard this but Dean and Cas? They actually love each other very much.
Misc. (Miscellaneous)
Frames of Mind (series) (E) (5,378) (TWILIGHT) (Edward/Bella)
Reread Twilight with my beloved book club and discovered the Truth of Edward (sub who loves self-denial) so I wrote two fics about (a more mature) Bella and him getting it on without being in the same room. There's also Eco Warrior Edward representation lmao.
Sometimes I just write things...
Rest for the Wicked (G) (733)
Dean and Cas share a bed to fall asleep awwww :) also they bicker, lovingly, because they love each other
Soldier's Poem (G) (160) (Samfic)
Sad man thinks about his sad childhood lol. Getting in Sam's head is so hard, I don't know if I understand this boy to be honest.
Muppet Madness (G) (4,410) (Muppets crossover)
This was SO much fun I LOVE the Muppets. It doesn't have to all be sad man faces lonliness it turns out, sometimes you can just write that Miss Piggy thinks she overhears Castiel planning a proposal to Kermit the frog and hyjinks can ensue. I hold so much power in this keyboard...
I can't believe I made 20 works of short fiction. New Years is often hard to cope with, this little concrete fact has really boosted my mood. I did this with my own brain and my own hands. Keep on kicking, cariad.

DEAN TV LOVE VIII: EPISODE 3: A NEW ERA FOR THE TV LOVE SERIES
Good Morning and welcome to the 3rd episode of Dean Tv love 8, on Friday the 19th of January 2024.
2024 has just begun and the 8th season is starting off, with a whole new era for the Tv love series. The open era (2024-) the post qaurandean era is over.
The post qaurandean started back in 2022 to 2024.
The 8th season starts off with the same title sequence, the kids ran into the building and the Tv love 8 logo appears on the building. The audience cheered inside the studio, Dean with the trio entered the studio by an open door. “Hello and this is the 3rd episode of Dean Tv love 8” said Alec. “Welcome to a new era” said Zara. “What’s the new era?” asked Kaden. “The open era” said Dean. “Wow a new era” said Kaden. “The post qaurandean era is gone” said Alec. The audience cheered about it. The guru appeared on the screen. “Yes that is today’s episode” said the guru. They all watch it, as the episode begins in a dream sequence. Dean is dreaming that he is at the seaside, sitting on the sand. Watching Darren and Tyrone with their girlfriends Natasha and Jody, Louise is eating chips. Then one day hands appear out of the sand, Dean jumped by the hands. Louise looks at Dean being grabbed by the hands from the sand. Louise uses her necklace to fire lasers at the hands. The hands went back into the sand. Dean runs towards Louise. Dean thanks Louise for saving him, till a big Tv comes out of the sea with a person laughing. Everyone looked at the Tv, the person tells everyone to beware the underground fighters. The dream ended by an alarm clock, Dean keeps up out of his bed. He looks at the time, the time is 9:30 A.M.
Dean checks the box with books, he sees the book what the man gave him last year. It is in the box, nobody did not touch the book. Dean pick it up, he checks that episode 3 of Dean Tv love 8. He read everything that depicted in the dream. Dean closes the book, he leaves the room. He sees everyone having breakfast. Louise had her breakfast already. She sees Dean, she tells her about the dream what Dean had. “Hey you know about the dream?” asked Dean. “Yes I am a telepath, I know what is going on. We both have a the same dream” said Louise. “You have been doing that for years” said Dean. “During the stage 1 era, there is a new era now” said Louise. “Yes the open era” said Dean. The necklace talks to them. “Yes it is, like open doors to a new time” it said. The necklace flashed, taking Dean and Louise to the seaside. The same seaside what Dean dreamt about.
“Hey we are the seaside” said Dean. “Yes this is the one” said Louise. Dean and Louise were wearing the same clothes what they wore in the dream. The two see Darren and Tyrone playing with their girlfriends. But they disappeared. “Hey there gone” said Dean. “I know, it is only an illusion” said Louise. The scenery changed into a white void. Louise started glowing. “Whoa! what happened to you?” asked Dean. “This is my glow form” said Louise. “Never use to do that before” said Dean.
“It’s my first time” said Louise. The void changed in a different location.
London, near thames.
Everything is clam. Till one day strange things start to happen.
Bad guys what Dean saw at the seaside are causing trouble. Everyone ran away from them, Dean went to stop them Louise intervened Dean from doing it. “It’s only an illusion” she said. “Yes I know, they are attacking the city” said Dean. Then after that everything disappeared . Another scenery, Dean is at the house where Louise used to live with friends. Everyone is having a party, Louise is wearing a red dress with a birthday badge. “It’s not your birthday” said Dean. “I told you before, it is only an illusion” said Louise. The friends had some food to eat, Dean too. Then everything disappeared, entering the void again. “Where’s the food?” asked Dean. “Oh well” said Louise. “That’s all the illusions you two saw” said the necklace. Dean and Louise returned to the mansion.
Dean went to have his breakfast while Louise went up stairs to get ready to go out somewhere.
The episode ends by Dean reading the page from the book what the man from the future gave him, episode 3 has depicted the same stuff what happened today.
Everyone cheered as the episode ended.
“That’s a good episode” said Alec. “The new era has just begun” said Kaden. “Yes so we have to make it a good one” said Zara. Dean agreed. “Open” he said. They all said the same thing. The guru smiled. “Tune next week for the next episode of Dean Tv love 8” he said.
The end credits appears with the theme tune playing.
Then it shows the year 2024 after that.
End of episode 3

Unrequited Destiel...
The Legend of The Sun and The Moon
I just wanted to explain in a few words to those that are asking why Dean didn't reply to Cas or why is Jensen talking about angelical way to feel things.
I know they're a lot of post saying WE TOLD YOU THIS AND THAT, and is true. Because if you read my Destiel Chronicles from the beginning, you will see I ALWAYS CALLED THE UNREQUITED LOVE FROM CAS AND DEAN'S POV.
Some of you disbelieves this idea, but is the only way to intepretate why Destiel is the slowest slow burn ever.
No more intro, let's suffer together...
Season 4 and 5 JUST A FLIRTING GAME
Once Dean was pulled out from Hell, Castiel wanted to talk with him. He didn't wait a second. Things blew and it was messy, and even Bobby was scared that that thing would hurt his idjit. But it was just Cas, trying to speak with Dean, desperately trying to reach him in his true form. Why? Because he wanted to talk with him. He had to explain Dean's mission but also, he felt fascinated. And even more after their first meeting face to face when he was finally able to find a vessel.
And Dean just it took him just a little of his time to feel the same fascination. The almighty angel, that could see right through his soul.
But also the angel that said things like...
And we have the handprint too, such an intimate sign between these two.
Castiel showing him, honestly showing him with words and actions, his special interest on him:
"My superiors begun to question my sympathies. I was getting too close to the humans in my charge. You."
How would Dean take this here? The poor guy just decided to check out the angel, and speechless as he was at that moment, couldn't reply to it. "Is he flirting with me? Does he know how gay this sounds?"
Then Cas rebel against Heaven for Dean. Dean pushed him, the whole he pushed Cas to help him. If you rewatch season 4 Dean is constantly asking Cas to help him. Because he already know Cas was different. Because he felt Cas was his friend, his ally, and something else it was growing up in his chest.
While Cas pushed him against the wall, cut his forearm and drew the sigil, Dean's face is full of awe. He can't believe this soldier powerful angel is doing this for him.
And then... "We're making it up as we go."
Tumblr media
Gif credit @cyxnrose
The beginning of season 5 is a very busy Cas searching for God, but also, the flirtation begins. Dean is like a cute boy flirting with his crush. The second meaning jokes, trying to figure out if Cas catch it is hilarious. But he will understand 'Cas doesn't understand that reference.'
From Dean's POV in these two season, we coul under he thinks angels are junk less.
Season 6: The profound Bond and the Longing
The romantic feeling from both sides began to flow even more when Castiel goes into the black side, and the first Destiel break up appears infron of our eyes in the middle of a very romantic scenes.
Tumblr media
Gif credit @starlightcastiel
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
The last gif is out of discussion, bot men looking at each other with sad eyes, longing and as if their conversation isn't over. Dean being disappointed at Cas and Cas trying to make him see his point. Everything he does, he does it for Dean.
And now we know why it is.
Season 7: Mourning Dean and the Jealousy
Even with Showrunner Sera Gamble trying to focus Dean's morning into a Wincest subtext, we had put king Ben Edlund came to the rescue in episode 7x09.
Putting things in order, we were faced with Dean's source of depression: Castiel's death.
So, after that, when Cas really comes back, the reunion is another romantic movie. The MEMORY LOST trope.
And then... Castiel's pseudo wife...
The trope is getting better with the spicy Jealousy in Dean's eyes.
Gif credit @impalaofgrace
Tumblr media
So he can't completely enjoy Cas is back because:
1) He doesn't remember him: so, how can be mad or anything else if Cas doesn't remember any details of their break up?
2)The guy has a wife! Okay, so, he has a wife, he easily got a wife from... Nowhere?
And then Meg comes and he is Jealous all over again!
Dean is a really mess of feelings, but in the end, when Cas recalls everything, and when I say everything, i mean Dean, because the majority of his memories was him, Dean just pulls out from his car Castiel's bloody trenchcoat and gives it him back!
So, if there was any doubts about why was Dean mourning and depressed for, we have the confirmation!
Then, let's turn the page, because now is Cas the mess... Depressed and suffering, because he almost destroy heaven, but, do you know what cares the most to Cas and when he cheers up? Yes...
When Dean says... "I RATHER JAVE YOU, CURSED OR NOT" Castiel immediately changed his face, he smiles, and kept staring at Dean with heart eyes. He was happy because Dean was forgiving him. Because since he recovered his memories, the biggest cause of it was Dean's rejection. Dean not being able to forgive him. That was the main cause of his sadness. That's why he avoided reality, he didn't have a cause, because his cause was Dean and Dean was mad at him. But now? Cas is happy again. That's why he decides to come back to battle. "I'll go with you."
Season 8 Purgatory of love and Pining!Dean
Okay, is in this season, Carver era, when Dean's POV has a turning point about Castiel and his true feelings for him and is in this season, when Dean starts pining strongly for the angel, and feeling his love is unrequited.
The cause of it, is Purgatory. The Purity about Purgatory resided in the capacity of that place to resides in abolish every human necessity to let the mind to focused in what really matters. In this case for Dean was SURVIVE AND CAS.
So we can say that what remained pure in Dean's heart was TO FIND CASTIEL.
That's why he prayed to him every night, and that's why in the moment Cas CONFESS he ran away to protect him, something in Dean changes forever.
Gif credit @agusvedder
Tumblr media
If you pay attention to Dean's face reaction here, is the expression of the man that realizes in that precisely moment his feelings for Castiel. Even Cas stares to a side, because there was Benny watching them, and the thing he was about to say it was too intimate. I did it to protect you.
Dean, the Big Protector, is being protected by Castiel. So, in Purgatory, Dean Winchester find out his not platonic love for his best friend.
Then we had the entire season with pining!Dean and deception.
Dean's mind invented one excuse for Castiel running away from him because thinking his best friend abbandoned him, was just too painful. He does this again when Cas pushed him inside the gate and he stays in Purgatory. Dean just rewrote in his mind the whole sequence. Imagining that Cas was defeated. But the reality was, Castiel wanted to stay. And when Cas reveals this truth to the hunter, Dean's face is a mix of deep sadness and deception. He felt really rejected by his friend. He felt his unrequited romantic love for him. But he will feel it more stronger in the crypt scene, with the brainwashing and how Castiel's love for Dean broke th connection. But he left. That was a real rejection the hunter barely could handled.
Season 9: Pinning!Castiel and Human!Cas
When Cas became Human, he has to face all the intensity of human's feelings. In this season, is time for our angel to realize his romantic love for the hunter.
Castiel will mirroring Dean's pining in season 8, and he will also feel rejected by him.
Just like Dean in season 8, Castiel will feel his romantic love is unrequited, after Dean kicked him out from the bunker, being this the parallel to the crypt scene.
But then Cain's mark comes, and everything gets worst.
Season 10: Castiel is Dean's Colette
The whole Cain's mark was the visual sign of the Destiel handprint (profound bond) attempt of break.
With Cain and Dean going through a perfect parallelism in which Crowley was placed in the friend's spot, Sam in the brother's spot and Castiel in Colette's spot. Blatant and canon exposure of what Cas means for Dean.
But now, is time for Dean, after came back for being a demon, to feel unrequited again. And this is a detail that could be not seen, but it caught my attention.
CASTIEL: At least temporarily. It’s a long story. Crowley, stolen grace. There’s a female outside in the car.
This is what Castiel says when he goes into Dean's room and after Dean praises him...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
Dean had been with Crowley when he was a demon this whole time, so Cas was heartbroken. Even this season opens with a very depressed Castiel in the bed just let himself die because Dean was gone. So, that's why Cas says this.
So you went with Crowley, i have a female in my car. See? I don't need you.
He was Jealous, and now Dean gets Jealous, but he also gets the sensation again of his love for Castiel is unrequited.
The episode that followed this one, Dean goes into a blind date with random chick he took from a date app (very ooc, but he did it because he had his heart broken and because he thought CAS had cheated on him while he was gone as a demon.)
Season 11: Dean resist a forced bond with Amara because he's bonded with Castiel
Season 11 is a blatant exposure of Dean's feelings for Castiel. There a lot of hints throughout the season telling us Dean is in love, just like in season 9 there was hints of this with Castiel. (Again, mirroring each other).
Dean resisted Amara because of his love for Castiel. But Cas is oblivious about this.
When Castiel is possesed by Lucifer, Dean switch's into desperate mode. If he was worried about his attraction for Amara, now the only thing he cares was Castiel, exposing again WHO DEAN IS IN LOVE WITH.
But when Dean wanted to rescue Castiel, and Cas didn't want to come back to him, it hurt him worst. Again, just like in season 8, Dean can't handle Cas doesn't want to come back with him (first from Purgatory and now from being possesed). Again Dean feels rejected and unrequited. That's why when Cas is back and the end of the world is close... Dean says these words...
"You're our brother, Cas. I want you to know that."
And Cas' face...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @mad-as-a-box-of-frogs
That's a man with the heart broken, mostly because we know now he was in love with Dean CANON FACT! (sobbing louder).
Season 12 and the confusing I LOVE YOU
This season was full of married couple situations, but mostly, we had Castiel's I Love You in the barn, before "dying".
At first Dean thinks the angel was saying this as goodbye, expressing into words his feelings for the Winchesters. Because as and angel, maybe Cas was feeling he has to protect them all. But then he says this singular I Love You to Dean, and the guy doesn't know how to take it. It was a platonic ILY? A non platonic ILY? Does angels feel the same like us? Does he sees me as a brother? Dean was truly a mess, so he decides to respond to that with a Mixtape.
But, when Castiel disappears for days, he sinks again into that sensation of unrequited romantic love.
Then Cas comes back, and then he goes away again, and then he dies.
Season 13: The reunion and the meaning of Castiel coming back
Dean's mourning for Cas can't be interpreted otherwise than LOSING THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE.
And the longing for his angel plus some Nougat powers, brought him back.
The thing is, Dean didn't expr as his feeling for Castiel and when the angel asked him that he needed to believed that he came back for a reason, Dean goes...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
This sound like if he was recruiting Cas for war. And Cas' took it as that. So he came back to soldier angel mode. Because, okay, if Dean and Sam needed him to fight, he will fight.
Unrequited Love again.
Season 14 Healing Dean and the prelude of the break up
Post-possesed Dean is a follow up of self knowledge and self growing. He was healing the whole season.
But in episode 14x04 we heard Dean being Jealous or hurt because Castiel didn't go to rescue him and then because he goes into hunts with Jack. Unrequited love again.
Did Cas miss me as I missed him?
Is the first time Dean will actually name the word LOVE talking with the kid.
And then Mary dies and everything is a mess.
Dean yells YOU ARE DEAD TO ME, and how sad that sounds now that the angel had died again. Saving his life.
Dark clouda over our ship...
Season 15: And Maybe is not too late...
In season 15 we lived the angst of the Destiel break up, but then their reunion in Purgatory was beautiful.
Again, facing the fact that he could lost Cas one more time, Dean went down on his knees and prayed to him, and because he was in Purgatory, his heart and mind were released from any distraction, and he was plenty focused in the love he feels for his angel.
Tumblr media
He cried, and begged for him to come back.
And he found him, following his heart, the profound bond he has with Castiel.
But, when he was about to say something that he hadn't said in the prayer, Castiel cut him off. So... Again the hunter had to swallow his words and the unrequited love punch him again.
Then... Castiel's romantic love confession took Dean by surprise, because, now that you read all the clues i gave you and i convinced you that Dean and Cas thought their love were unrequited, you will understand Dean's reaction.
Tumblr media
Gif credit @spnsmile
Dean didn't can't believe Cas had loved him the way he does this whole time and now, he will lose him again. Is too much pain he can't handle.
For a lot of reasons we had analyzed so many times (Dean's arc has to have a closure expressing his ILY to the angel, the Empty plot is not ended, Etc) Is logical to think Cas will come back in the last episode, and this slow burn story will end with them being together, finally.
To Conclude:
The legend of the Sun and the Moon talks about two lovers that can't be reunited but they love each other deeply.
Is accurate with Destiel, because these two men had always being pining for each other but never be able to be together as they wish.
Castiel always thinking Dean doesn't reciprocate his romantic feeling for him and Dean thinking because Cas is an angel, he doesn't love him back romantically.
The Sacred Oath always playing in Castiel's POV as an impediment too and Dean's love clocked in shame too.
The deal with the Empty had been settled as we suspected in season 14, as a romantic plot. So, it has to have a closure.
These thoughts are based on the volumes from my assay "The Destiel Chronicles", currently in it's 87th volume.
See you soon! Have faith!
Destiel Is Forever!

When Did Dean Fall In Love With Cas?
tl;dr: S11
I’ve wanted to talk about this since the show ended and the Spanish dub that broke Tumblr came out. So, when did Dean Winchester fall in love with Castiel?
This is entirely my opinion of course, and I know there are some people that will say it was right away or that it never happened at all, but I wanted to put my thoughts out there so other people could tell me their thoughts, too. I’ll probably get off on some tangents here and there, so feel free to send me any Destiel thoughts you’ve got.
Also, it’s worth noting that, to me, there’s a difference between falling in love and actually being in love. I mean, if you’ve fallen in love with someone, every point in your relationship has been a stepping stone to that point, so I guess it’s all abstract, but still. Hence, S11 being my answer to this question.
Keep in mind I’m doing this without the benefit of a recent rewatch, so I may miss some behaviors from Dean that would change a few things.
Warning: sappy stuff ahead; read at your own risk (also crappy images).
S4-5
I don’t think it’s that big of a secret that Dean attached himself to Cas, like, right away. I mean, the dude never talks about his emotions, and yet, it took eight episodes of Cas being around for Dean to break down in front of him and talk about his fears. It’s almost like you could say that’s because they were always meant to fall for each other.
Tumblr media
However, I don’t really the think the process of falling in love with Cas had started yet. I do think that Dean cared about Cas, but I don’t think it was anything extremely special. Reason being: it was the literal end times and Dean didn’t have that type of time. That, and I think there’s something to be said for being raised a certain way and believing certain things about yourself that affects how long it takes for you to notice that something has changed. So, yeah. I don’t think Cas had been around long enough at this point for Dean to start feeling anything more than kinship with him.
That’s not to say, though, that Dean didn’t subconsciously find Cas hot or get the warm fuzzies sometimes because:
Tumblr media
I mean, come on.
S6-7
So, this era is weird because I do think something had begun to change in how Dean saw Cas, but I don’t think he got to fully begin the process of falling in love with him because: a.) Cas betrayed them and b.) Sam’s head was broken.
I’m gonna say something rude now: I think a lot of the Destiel moments in the beginning of S6 were born of Dean needing Castiel’s abilities as an angel and not of needing Cas. For example, Dean calling on Cas to help with the Staff of Moses or with Soulless!Sam. He was usually pretty demanding and sometimes curt with Cas and got irritable when Cas couldn’t help.
However, I think that Cas always being there despite his battle in Heaven began to shift Dean’s feelings toward him. I do think this change was almost imperceptible, but you can see Dean showing more and more concern for Cas as S6 progresses. Like this:
Tumblr media
This is the primary reason I think Dean got so defensive of Cas when Bobby and Sam started suggesting that Cas was working with Crowley. It’s also why he got so hurt when he found out that Bobby and Sam were right.
Here’s my super abstract and vague take on it: he’d started feeling romantic emotions for Cas, but as soon as Cas’s betrayal was revealed, it got replaced with pain. Basically, Dean almost started to fall for Cas in S6, and then the Purgatory storyline interrupted it.
And then Cas died. Which didn’t help.
Here we enter S7, which has fuck all for Destiel content beyond the first two episodes—until Cas comes back. I know some people are going to say not to gloss over the trench coat thing, and fair enough. I think the keeping of the trench coat was akin to Dean trying to hold onto what he did feel for Cas, obviously not consciously. Almost as though Dean could tell he’d lost something special when Cas died, and not just in losing Cas, but in losing part of himself, a part that he didn’t know existed yet. I don’t consider the trench coat to be a sign that Dean was falling in love with Cas but a sign that he was about to or that he could’ve. Is that weak? Whatever.
Now, I do think that some shit got shaken loose when Dean saw Cas again because, for all intents and purposes, he should’ve been pissed. But instead he was... whatever this is:
Tumblr media
I still, more or less, think that he was too preoccupied with Sam to really begin falling in love with Cas. I think that’s clear to see in how he treated Cas after he came back into the story for the final battle with the Leviathan. He did give the whole “I’d rather have you” speech, but all the stuff before that was more along the lines of “Nobody cares that you’re broken, Cas! Clean up your mess!” So, yeah.
S8
Okay, so this is where the Purgatory stuff comes in. In the words of the great John Mulaney, “we don’t have time to unpack all of that,” but this is where I believe Dean started falling in love with Cas.
Dean told Sam that Purgatory felt pure because he could only focus on the fight at all times... but he still had the emotional availability to worry about and search for Cas, so...
If I had to pick an exact moment, I’d say somewhere around here:
Tumblr media
And thus, rather than just keeping a trench coat when he lost Cas, Dean literally rewired his own memories because he would rather think that he left Cas behind than think that Castiel chose to leave him.
From here, we can start seeing Dean paying attention to Cas more, noticing when he’s not being himself, and more than that, worrying about him in a more personal way. For instance, when Dean insists that Cas talk to him about what’s bothering him in “Hunteri Heroici.” Not to mention, Dean becomes a lot more emotionally vulnerable regarding his feelings for Cas. One example would be when he insists that he didn’t abandon Cas in Purgatory. Another would be, of course:
Tumblr media
I would also mark this season as the season Dean’s prayers to Cas become more emotional and, at times, cathartic, as though he’s confiding in Cas. In “Remember the Titans,” for example, Dean prays to Cas to ask him to look out for Sam; the scene reads like Dean is asking for help but is, in equal measure, asking for Cas. This is also the first season an adversary pokes at Dean and Cas’s relationship in a way that specifically targets Dean and his feelings about Cas rather than Cas’s feelings about Dean as it had been before; this would be when Naomi says “You’re hoping Castiel will return to you.”
S9-S10
Well, these seasons are complicated to say the least because of Gadreel and the Mark of Cain. I don’t think, at this point, Dean ever stops feeling what he’s feeling for Cas. However, I do think that a lot of the hiccups throughout S9 and S10 made Dean step away from those feelings.
Of course, Dean is still stressing about Cas 24/7 in the beginning of S9 what with Cas being human, Cas being hunted, Cas dying, Cas working at a Gas-n-Sip—you know, drama. I think when Gadreel said that Cas needed to stay away if Dean wanted Sam to be healed, Dean had to let what he was feeling for Cas go—not that that means he stopped feeling it, mind you. No, I don’t think Dean consciously went, “Well, guess I’m done falling for this dude,” but I think he knew somewhere in his heart that it wasn’t the time.
Tumblr media
Now, the Mark of Cain. The storyline that put the characters down on the page once and left them stagnant and unchanging until it was resolved. Now, as you might imagine, slowly turning into a demon that wants nothing but death would put a damper on any relationship. Finding Destiel in the B season for S9 and throughout S10 is hard. Especially on Dean’s end.
There are moments when you can tell that Dean’s feelings for Cas are still there, and I would say, developing slowly, like the cheeseburger date. Probably the biggest Destiel moment in the entire Mark of Cain stretch is when Dean nearly kills Cas but resists, despite the Mark’s hold on him.
Tumblr media
That’s really it, though. No backwards movement, but barely anything trending the opposite way, either.
S11
This is the Big Season™, the one I believe Dean fell in love with Cas in. Now, obviously, it isn’t like Dean lost the Mark, and boom, fell in love with Cas. Plus, there’s the whole pull-to-Amara thing. However, I don’t think falling in love necessarily has to be a big moment; I think it can just happen, and I think that’s what happened with Dean. At some point between the start of this season and Cas being released from Lucifer’s possession, Dean fell in love with Cas.
That being said—if I was really reaching for a moment—I wouldn’t say it happened during a happy scene. I’d say Dean fell in love with Cas when he lost him.
Tumblr media
I know that sounds weird, that Dean didn’t fall in love with Cas completely until he realized Cas had been possessed by Lucifer, but in my head, it fits. I think it’s because Dean is so emotionally closed off and tries not to let his emotions show if he can help it that it took knowing that Cas was gone for that last switch to flip in his heart.
So, now Dean is in love with Cas, but Cas is Lucifer. I’d say this has something to do with the fact that, even though Dean is supposed to be attached to Amara, he still calls out for Cas even though Amara is right in front of him.
Tumblr media
Considering the fact that Cas comes back in the literal last episode—at least, that’s when Dean realizes he’s back—there isn’t a whole hell of a lot of time to see how being in love with Cas has changed Dean. We do get the “you’re our brother, Cas” scene, but seeing as how that’s pretty inconsistent with everything that comes afterward, let’s just chalk that one up to bad writing and/or Dean being dense.
S12
Alright, so my post should be done, yeah? I’ve answered the question I’ve set out to answer. However, there’s still more to talk about here. When did Dean first sense that what he felt for Cas was different? When did he have an inclination that it was romantic? When did he know for sure?
That’s why we’re here in S12. Now, S12 is the most Destiel-heavy season in the entire series. In my opinion, while it does have many of the best Destiel scenes, it doesn’t have the best Destiel scene. However, as far as number of moments, S12 takes it.
This is where we really get to see how being in love with Cas has changed Dean. Realistically, I think this has a lot to do with S12 being the beginning of the Dabb era because this era marked a change in tone for both Castiel’s character and his relationship with Dean. Dean began to worry about Cas a lot more frequently and, as a result, got mad at him a lot more, too. I see S12 as the season that Dean moved away from simply being worried about losing Cas to being terrified of losing Cas. And that translated into anger any time Castiel put himself in danger. For example, killing Billie. Any other time, the threat of losing Cas translated itself into fear, like when Cas nearly died from being stabbed with the Lance of Michael.
Tumblr media
Of course, the mixtape is also in this season, which is another example of how being in love with Cas has affected Dean. I could probably make an entirely seperate and very long post regarding Destiel in S12, but the general idea is that Dean’s newly found love for Cas made a big difference in how he treated Cas.
S13
Alright, S13 stands outs to me because I believe this is when Dean first realized that Cas meant something more to him than a friend and that he felt differently about him than he did about his family. Again, I don’t think that Dean actually thought those exact words, but I think his heart knew them to be true even if he mind didn’t. Reason being: Cas had just died. Which is the first time Castiel has died since Dean fell in love with him. Dean knew he needed Cas, in a way he hadn’t really realized it before. Which is why he demands that Chuck bring him back.
Tumblr media
Then Cas comes back, and it’s like Dean forgets what hopelessness and misery are because Cas is his “big win.” After this, honestly, there isn’t much else by way of emotional development for Dean regarding Cas, but I see that as a good thing. It’s a sign that, though Dean hasn’t realized it yet, being in love with Cas is comfortable for him. There are still expressions of concern for Cas’s wellbeing throughout the season, but mostly, we just get to see Dean be content with Cas.
S14
Alright, S14 a.) mostly saw Dean’s feelings much in the same place as they were in S13 and b.) just kidding because Dean tells Cas that he’s dead to him in this season.
To be fair, if we’re talking Destiel, there’s more of it on Castiel’s end this season than there is on Dean’s because Dean is dealing with Michael. There are a couple moments that stand out to me as moments where Dean’s love for Cas comes through: when Cas asks Dean if his plan to trap himself in the Ma’lak Box means that they’re supposed to say goodbye and when Dean confides in Cas about how he’s handling keeping Michael trapped. In the former scene especially, I think it’s clear to see how much the idea of saying goodbye to Cas affects Dean.
Tumblr media
And then we get to “Absence,” which is the episode where Dean tells Cas that he’ll be dead to him if Jack killed Mary. Now, going off on a tangent here to explain how this ties into Dean being in love with Cas, let’s talk about when Dean gets mad at Cas.
Tumblr media
When Dean gets mad at Castiel, it’s always out of pain. I think that’s a very unique effect that Cas has on Dean that no one else does, and I believe it’s because Dean gets so overwhelmed with the emotion of betrayal that all he can do is push Cas away. Why a feeling of betrayal? Well, in this case, it’s because Cas knew something was wrong with Jack and didn’t say anything. I think that, as Dean fell more and more in love with Cas, his expectations and feelings for him grew, and because of that, when he feels like he’s been let down by Cas, it turns into rage.
When Dean walks away from Sam, it’s usually because he’s either worried or angry. With Jack, he walked away because of anger, maybe even disgust. But with Cas, it’s always pain; it’s always because Dean feels like he’s been personally betrayed in a way that has nothing to do with worrying about Cas and everything to do with wanting to hurt Cas back. It’s almost a selfish sort of anger, which is actually a positive for Dean’s character since he rarely puts himself first.
To me, the way Dean gets mad at Cas—especially in S14—is so personal and unique that it serves as proof as to why Dean is in love with Cas. So, even though the “then you’re dead to me” line is so damaging, it’s still a result of Dean loving Cas.
S15
Last season. The hardest season by far, for a lot of reasons. I’m not going to get into the lack of closure the ending of this show gave us in terms of Dean and Castiel, and I’m not going to talk about this final season in conjunction with the Spanish dub—just what I, as an English speaker experienced in canon since that’s what was intended in the final cut—but I will talk about everything else. There’s three episodes/points I’m going to hit with this season, and I’m sure we all know them: “The Rupture,” “The Trap,” and “Despair.”
I’ve already discussed why Dean’s anger points to his being in love with Cas, but I think the important thing to note with “The Rupture” is that Dean still didn’t want to lose Cas, even in the moments when he was hurting Cas and pushing him away.
Tumblr media
There’s still a couple questions I’ve asked that I haven’t answered yet, and one of them will be answered with “The Trap.” I think this episode—and really, the moment Cas told him he heard his prayer—marks the first time that Dean considered that his feelings might be romantic. I don’t know how clear those thoughts were or if Dean told himself he was wrong afterward, but I do think that that scene was the beginning of possibility for Dean and Cas. Had they had enough time, they would’ve decided to be together, and that scene is where they both really felt it for the first time—even if they didn’t believe the other felt the same way.
Tumblr media
I’ll be honest: I really don’t want to talk about “Despair” because it’ll just make me sad. Alas, there is one question that still needs to be answered: When did Dean know that he was in love with Cas?
Tumblr media
When it was already too late. Much like in S11, I think it took Dean losing Cas to realize how he felt about him. The difference here is: I think Dean would’ve realized it regardless; hearing how Cas felt about him and then losing Cas just forced it. Had Cas not died, I don’t believe it would’ve been too long before Dean realized it naturally, and that’s the most frustrating thing about this scene is that Dean didn’t have to learn how he felt through the trauma of losing Cas.
I’m not trying to diminish this scene because, had there been closure—and proper editing—I’d say this scene was the perfect avenue for Castiel’s character to go down because it would mean that, when he came back, he could be with Dean.
Again, I’m not getting into the semantics of the final couple episodes or how they handled Destiel because it’ll just make me mad, but I think Dean realizing he was in love with Cas was just as big of a factor in him seeing himself differently as Cas’s speech was. I think Dean wanted to honor Cas by being the person Castiel saw him as; I think Dean wanted to live as a man worthy of being loved by the man he fell in love with.
Tumblr media
Anyway, that’s my take on when Dean Winchester fell in love with Castiel based on what canon gave us. As someone who had been very realistic about the possibility of Destiel over the years and had never truly hoped for it in canon because I knew better, I have never been more convinced that Dean is in love with Castiel as I am now, after the show has ended.
I don’t think I can say I believe he was in love with him all along, but I believe that his story, their story, of falling in love is real and true, however long it may have taken. I’ll never say goodbye to these two, but I’m happy that I can at least walk away from this show knowing that they found each other in the end, even if their ending didn’t do justice to their legacy.
Let me know when you think Dean fell in love Cas or vise versa. I’m curious to know what you see in their relationship. I don’t think I’ll be making a post like this for Castiel because, in my opinion, Cas fell in love with Dean rather quickly—his journey was just realizing what that meant. Anyway, thank you for reading this, and thank you for being a part of this twelve year long love story that is Destiel.

Pre-Rewatch Notes
So since I’m going to be doing a mix of in-timeline and full retrospective text value of the canon, one of the things I’d like to actually get out of the way is the Key Concepts of the eras, most explicitly Kripke and Dabb as the start and end.
The Key concepts are the single most important framework in media studies. They have evolved as a means of understanding a text by using a critical framework, rather than just making unconnected and meaningless observations. Throughout the course, you will need to refer to the Key Concepts and use the terms you learn when analysing media texts. One way to remember the Key Concepts is to use the mnemonic "RAILING". Representations, Audiences, Institutions, (Media) Language, Ideology, Narrative, Genre.
(also sometimes called MIGRAIN if using Media Language to clarify rather than spoken language)
With this as my note in front of the cut, I’m going to drop the rest behind one while I try to sort out the RAILING of the show before I even try to start establishing long term collective rewatch arguments on the canon. I do also invite some discussion on these, as in, if you feel my markers are off, or if I’m missing anything that I could probably negotiate the text.
Pulling, for my sanity, from here [x]
SO FIRST TO DEFINE:
Media Language This is how media producers communicate their ideas to the audience. Below are some examples to think about when considering media language:
Images used
Words used
Use of colour
Signs and signifiers
Connotative meaning
Use of sound
Iconography
Camera angles and picture composition
Institutions The companies who produce the media. Fox, Disney, CNN, the BBC, Warner Brothers etc will have a set of Institutional Values; beliefs on aspects of life e.g. their political stance or moral beliefs etc. Also, whether they have to make large profits for a board of directors. These institutional values will guide what their media products include. You should consider who made a particular media product and what impact this has on that product.
Genre The style of the media form.
A film could be Horror or Action.
A book could be Fantasy or Thriller.
A computer game could be RPG or Sports Simulation.
A website could be News or Social Networking.
Representation How media producers show a thing, person or group of people.
May be positive or negative.
Why have they chosen to show them in this way?
Think about the 5 w’s: who, what, where, when and why?
Audience
The people who buy and consume media.
Who are they?
What do they want from the media product?
How does the media product fulfill these wants?
Use theories such as Uses and Gratification theory.
Ideology Ties in with Institution.
What values and beliefs underpin the product?
How does this fit with the values of society?
Narrative How is the text structured?
Use Todorov’s Theory of Narrative Structure.
Use Propp’s Character Theory.
Use Strauss’ Theory of Binary Opposition
I’m going to use VERY shorthand notes on these moving forward.
So here’s what I see off the cuff:
KRIPKE ERA
Media Language Faded film stock to denote horror; darkness; emphasis on SFX like footsteps. Grim cinematic. Eventual christian imagery overlapping urban myth icons. Faded color palettes. Fairly classic color use (pink or white for femininity or purity, etc). Nostalgic classic rock/music. Nostalgia, general. Muscle cars. "Classic american masculinity." Hopelessness seeking hope.
Institutions WB, CW, and the timeline of 2005-2009. Kripke, Singer. Manners. McGee. Sgriccia.
Genre Horror, survival, drama
Representation Americana, working class america, "american masculinity", fraternity; Sam and Dean vs the world with occasional help from other friends or family in the life. Metanarrative hostility to issues like queerness reflective of both time and institution at the time.
Audience Originally targeted at young/teen men (to “not be like other girl shows on the network”), became split demographic. Split conservative and liberal demographic. Discussion on how these are handled will come up over the study.
Ideology Fraternal bonds. Arguably, family. Hero's sacrifice for the greater good.
Narrative Campbell, Hero's Journey; Rule of Cool; Christendom; Man vs Divine
GAMBLE
Media Language Film stock, brightness, saturation at fairly standard media level -- sometimes unstable. Standard cinematics. Residual christian imagery overlapping lovecraft. Decline in classic music from Kripke. Unclear or unreliable interpersonal messaging. Arguably southern gothic. Hopelessness.
Institutions WB, CW, and the timeline of 2010-2011. Gamble, Singer. McGee. Sgriccia. Norman Bee. Edlund.
Genre Teen Drama, Adventure
Representation Established characters Sam and Dean. Fraternity. Sam and Dean vs the world.
Audience Originally targeted at young women, became split demographic. Split conservative and liberal demographic. Discussion on how these are handled will come up over the study.
Ideology Brothers quarreling; fight monsters; I don't know. Did she know? "Everything is tragic but have some dick jokes"
Narrative Lovecraft. Does anyone know. "I need to make more episodes"
CARVER
Media Language Brightened film stock with increased saturation establishes fantasy setting. Smash cut interruptions to former grim cinematics offset more hopeful visuals. Fairly media standard lighting and color use in related fantasy cinema. Found family. Hope against hopeless odds.
Institutions WB, CW, and the timeline of 2012-2014 (arguably 2015). Carver, Singer. Glass. Sgriccia.
Genre Fantasy, Adventure, drama
Representation Widened character base. Widened hero's journey arcs (castiel). Masculinity messaging of the past has not vanished, but has dampened and become less hostile to the LGBTQ and woman audience. Regular Cast widened (Crowley, Castiel)
Audience Split gender demographic. Split conservative and liberal demographic. Split age demographic from targeting vs duration. Increasingly digital demographic and marketing; begins increasing queer, poc and other audience. International boom (Netflix deal, digital 2012+). Discussion on how these are handled will come up over the study.
Ideology Found Family, Hope against odds. Free Will highlighted.  Destructive or harmful relationships. Humanity. The human journey.
Narrative Self-established TV episodical, largely internal lore, residual christianized mythos or christendom. Castiel acquires first proper hero’s journey personal arc/lens. Multiple relationships vs world, man vs world
DABB
Media Language Carries from carver; largely identical but more close-up shots and interaction shots for drama focus. Internal color pallate unique to its own while still interacting with Carver standard media pallate.
Institutions WB, CW, and the timeline of 2015-2020. Dabb, Singer. Sgriccia. Buckner, Leming. S15: Berens. CW has begun rebranding into a “queer friendly” platform with unreliable results.
Genre High-fantasy, drama, arguably soap.
Representation Carries heavily from Carver, plus. Expansion of queer creatives adds queer voice to the text. Queer text manifests over time into show's canon text. Lack of metanarrative hostility has become space for queer text. Attempted routine inclusion of women, queer characters. While not a queer piece, establishes queer narrative with roots as far back as Kripke. While still maintaining strong leads, Regular Cast and other leading cast has expanded (Crowley, Castiel, Jack, other major recognizeable faces: Rowena, Wayward). It flirts with ensemble presentation without ever landing on it wholly.
Audience Split gender demographic skewing towards women. Split conservative and liberal demographic skewing towards liberal. Multiple generations of demographic from longevity. Primarily digital demographic and marketing (top 99.9% digital but a bottom live ratings performer on live TV outside of the CW); primarily queer, poc and other audience. International boom. Discussion on how these are handled will come up over the study.
Ideology Found family. hope against odds/defining the odds. Free Will vs authoritative power. Psychological rebuilding*. The family journey. The family unit. Non-nuclear families. (finale not withstanding)
Narrative Self-established TV episodical, largely internal lore, subverting christendom and authority with alchemy or gnosticism. Optimism vs Nihilism. Contrasting ending (see: Nihilism) Campbell. Other characters, like Jack, begin claiming narrative presence like Carver era Castiel, whereas Castiel maintains or expands on his. Man vs Divine vs Man IS Divine
These will be used to address the text during the large scale rewatch.
Each era has its own parameters to best address its showrunners’ visions in. Each era will receive snapshots unto itself, or snapshots also only in regards to how it adapts to the previous text. On the other hand, as half the goal is also a full retrospective to address the complete body of the text since the show stands as a complete body of word and I shouldn’t change my tools over and over again throughout for the complete-text study the same way I will by showrunner era.
I’m going to make a PITCH on the most likely way to give this a strong reading through to prepare what targets to keep an eye on as they evolve. This may change along the way if at any point I realize the first-glance overview was wrong, but
OVERVIEW MIGRAIN
Media Language The growth from hopeless dark into vivid potential; the lost heroes still oblivious to the world, their vision distant and dark to begin. Contrast faded dark to vivid and bright as much over timeline as Carver did between shots. Consider addressing the increased interpersonal camera work that blooms in later seasons for commentary in regards to the increased interpersonal complexity and growth of the cast.
Institutions WB, CW, and the timeline of 2005-2009 as the holdover of some audience being maintained with inevitable pressures from the outside world of 2020 forcing change.
Genre Survival, drama, fantasy
Representation Americana, fraternity, family; Split Hero's Journey Narratives. Late-end queer story affirmation demands a look at the body of the text for its queer journey throughout, though the work itself should not be expected to perform as an LGBT genre work but rather a Survival-Drama-Fantasy work with queer characters. Loved ones versus external forces.
Audience Too shifting to consider in the target read anymore.
Ideology Expanding knowledge. Growing expansion of the world first to find, then surpass and subvert God--or at least their intention. The growth out of expectations of work or behavior into passions and dreams. Finding and pursuing hope. Fraternal bonds. Family, Found Family. Queerness. Hero's sacrifice for the greater good, but to find and define what that greater good is, one must know the self through the family. Free Will vs authoritative power. Psychological rebuilding*. The family journey. The family unit. Non-nuclear families.
Narrative Campbell, Hero's Journey; Occasional intertext (On the Road, Vonnegut, Lovecraft). Varied mythos, best collected and then addressed and subverted through gnostic thoughtform per the ending.
Comments, critiques, criticisms, ideas to add, things I may be missing?

How I thought Supernatural should’ve ended.
Season 15/ep 19
Plot:
Everything is the same until the end. Jack doesn’t leave the Winchesters for good. Instead he tells them that he’s going to fix Heaven and restore it with Amara, and Amara will be the one to run and keep an eye on Heaven with Jack’s guidance every now and then. He says that he loves them all, and that he will be back sooner than they know it.
Back at the Bunkey, Eileen waits for them with Jody, the girls, Bobby, and Charlie.
Sam and Eileen hug, and kiss, and have a great reunion. Dean looks around for Cass, and is upset to not find him there.
Sam talks to Dean about how he feels about Castiel, and Dean realizes his true love for him.
Season 15/ep 20
Plot:
After Jack leaves to fix Heaven, the Winchesters go on a hunt. Everything is normal until Dean’s Death Scene. Dean gives his whole speech, and as he does, it starts raining, thundering, and lighting. Before Dean can die, Castiel comes into the barn, the lights exploding, as Sam holds up his shot gun-and not being able to see who it is-they shoot at him-it doesn’t effect him. Castiel comes in and we see his wings in the lighting light-just like his first episode- he goes over to Dean, takes him off the nail, and heals him.
Once Dean is healed, he tells Castiel that he loves him too, and that he can’t live without him. He brings Cass into a kiss, which Castiel reciprocates, and smiles.
They go back to the Bunker where Eileen, Jody, Donna, and the girls are waiting for them with a Job Well Done surprise dinner.
Jack tells the Winchesters-and everyone else- how Jack will no longer use his powers, but that he will live his life as human and eventually return to Heaven when he feels it’s his time-most likely when they die.
In the very end, we flash to Heaven. It’s 100 Years later. We see-original-Bobby and Rufus, laughing away at some old joke, sitting at their bar, with a beer in their hands.
We see Mary and John, living in their house, happy together.
We see Garth, and his wife-who died at old age- and how happy they are together, as humans.
We then flash to Earth. A new era has begun. New hunters, new monsters to be killed, but nevertheless the world is as it should be. Peaceful...with the occasional monster hunt here and there.
We go back to Heaven. Castiel and Dean have a beautiful lodge together with a bar-that’s always packed, and lively- they love and live beautifully together, happy, pure, and sweet.
We see Rowena. As much as everyone hates to admit it, they loved her just as much as we all did. She’s living happily, a wonderful man who treats her wonderfully at her side. She visits the Winchesters regularly, and always brings them some tea.
We see Crowley, who was teaching some young lost souls who to properly bargain, and make deals-all legal, and non-soul selling deals of course.
We see Sam and Eileen, who are together in a nice picket fence house, all happy, and sweet, with gardens-where Sam can eat freshly grown kale- and ponds and streams.
We see Jody with her husband, and son. She’s smiling, and more importantly, happy.
We see Anne, and Claire. They live together like best friends, and are always going out and exploring.
All the Angels have been Restored to Heaven. Yes, all of them, including Gabriel. Well, not Lucifer.
The empty for Angels is no more. The empty is now a place where the ‘bad souls’ go for enternal sleep. No more torture, and pain. Just sleep.
Jack and Amara set the Angels straight. Instead of interfering with the humans, they supervise Heaven with Amara, keeping her company, and assurance, helping her with whatever she may need, and helping her answer prayers. No angels are aloud to leave Heaven. Not even ArchAngles
In the end, we flash back and go to earth, and see Chuck. He’s old, and slowly withering away. He looks up at the sky. He lived as the Winchesters told him. He wasn’t going to amount to anything. He lived his life. He learned about being human. He made a family. A wife, a son, a daughter, a family dog. More then he ever deserved. We see him slowly pass away, and die.

as i started thinking about how i wanted to word this, i realized that there’s so much i’ve got to say that i don’t actually want to share with everyone.  as a fan, i’ve always kept most of my own individual experience of watching the show to myself.  surely, i’ve developed ideas, i’ve integrated them into how i write dean, i’ve shared thoughts with friends that i’ve made over the years.  but i never expressed everything that i’ve felt with everyone.  i’ve never been dishonest, though — just selective about what i wanted to say and not say. this has always been my view of selfishly protecting something that i love: if i didn’t share my thoughts, no one would have anything to say about them to try and reshape them, taint them even, and therefore, my thoughts and ideas would be securely stored in the world inside my own mind. this might be due to the fact that i’ve always watched stuff on my own.  i’ve never met anyone in real life who watched the same show as i did, so i was never prompted to talk about supernatural with anyone outside the internet ( ah, the perks of living outside the u.s. amirite ladies ) .
-----------
hence, i’m going to be brief about this.  because there’s still a lot of things from the show that i will continue to hold closely to my heart and cherish them forever, even after the show ends.  because, let’s be honest, no one is truly capable sharing everything that’s inside their head, anyway.
i joined supernatural back in 2013, just as season 9 began. ever since, the show has been with me through 3 major stages of my late: high school senior, undergraduate, postgraduate. with the many, many ups and downs i’ve had in my personal life over the past 7 years, this show has been the only constant thing i’ve ever had.  it was the one thing i’ve always sought comfort in.
this chapter of my life is finally closing, and i’m coming to terms with the fact that i am actually finally ready to move on.  i'm ready to let go of my adolescent way of consuming the show.  because, even though i was growing up, the very fact that the show remained constant throughout my late teen years, has prevented me from truly growing up.  in turn, i’m ready to let go of my adolescent way of being consumed by it.  in the recent months, i realize that i have already begun that process.  i’ve adopted a new perspective of approaching the show, the characters and the plot, but there’s still room for me to grow from that, too.
thus, the end of supernatural has fundamentally brought the end of an era of my life that i needed to end.  i need this to help me move on — grow up.  i’m still very, very sad over the fact that supernatural is ending.  but now i understand that this is truly necessary for me, personally.  this is what is going to help me move on and explore new media and find new aspirations from a different perspective  —  from an artist’s perspective.
and with that, i realize that this is the first and last time i will be doing this.  as i enter a very different chapter of my life and leaving the current one behind, i am approaching new media, not only as a fan, but also as an aspiring artist. this has been a very smooth and gradual transition for me, and i have supernatural to thank for.
so, thank you to the cast and crew for making this show happen.  and thank you to all the fans for allowing the show to carry on.  most of all, thank you to jared padalecki / sam winchester and jensen ackles / dean winchester for all these amazing years.  these two beautiful idiots will always have a special place in my heart.
-----------
THANK YOU ♡ lou ( a grieving fan / aspiring artist )

Quick question going back to season 10: The woman who wrote The Book of the Damned, Agnes, had "visions of darkness" to write the book, including the spell that broke the MoC. I'm just wondering, where do you think those visions came from? Chuck wouldn't have supplied them, cuz he didn't want Amara getting free, right? So how did those visions get to Agnes?
Hi there! I’ll start by saying that the show has never come right out and said “this is how that happened, specifically.” So it’s up to us to put things together in a way that pleases us best, and meshes with the rest of canon. But this is not the first time this sort of mechanism has factored into the plot.
The way the story is constructed, and the way Dabb especially has been playing with all of canon during his era, has emphasized the relationship between every level of the story mirroring itself. The eternal spiral of the narrative, where each loop of the story itself gathers up themes and problems of the past, but also in-story, underscored by Gabriel in 5.08-- as above, so below.
I don’t know if it’s as much a matter of “Chuck didn’t want Amara to be freed,” but the very construct of the universe relies on this fact that the mundane had mirrored the cosmic, until two brothers and an angel said screw you to the cosmic order and tore up the pages. Ever since then, TFW has been wrenching the universe back around on itself, and every level of the story is now reflecting that. But it goes back even further than that...
I mean, in the original story, mirroring his own personal narrative of locking up Amara, Chuck locked away Lucifer with the Mark, knowing that one day he would be freed, and the Apocalypse would play out as he constructed it to do so. The nature of his own story sort of requires then that Amara would eventually be released, too, you see? And this “locking away” and eventual release is built into every level of Chuck’s narrative.
SAM If there's a key...then there has to be a lock. And when we find the lock, we can get the weapons, and then we can have the weapons. And the lock. We'll still have the lock, I imagine, because we've opened it, and, of course, the initial key.DEAN We need to get all three of that crap.
Okay, back to actual meta here. :’D
I mean, just going back to 4.22, when we saw Azazel murder all the nuns at the Ilchester convent, because that was apparently a place where the Cage was “closer to the surface” and with his sacrifice and spell he was able to communicate with Lucifer in the Cage. It was similarly implied that the nun who created the Book of the Damned carried on a similar communication with some force of Darkness-- be it with The Darkness or with Lucifer or with some other force connected to Amara where she was imprisoned, I’m not sure it’s entirely relevant. None of those theories contradict what we know of canon to this point.
So in the same way that Azazel was able to contact Lucifer, that nun contacted the Darkness or an agent of the Darkness. The very way that Chuck imprisoned Amara having a direct link to Lucifer via the Mark, and the fact that he imprisoned Lucifer in the same way connects their fates. As below, so above.
Whether Chuck “wanted” her free or not, His Story is the story of the entire universe, on every level, and so it must always have played out this way, regardless of what Chuck actually wished for, you know? He’s not all powerful, and he still must abide by his own “rules,” even if he’s the one who made all the rules.
Think about what happened when he was shot with the Hammurabi gun. He wasn’t immune from its effects. He wasn’t able to heal it or exempt himself from the effects of it. He can make up new rules on a whim, but he’s still bound by the direct results of those rules being put into action. And his rulebook has begun to break down now.
Lol, remember in 12.21 how we all collectively rolled our eyes nearly out of our heads over the whole “reversing the polarity” of Crowley’s spell controlling Lucifer? We all wondered what the point of that entire arc was? Well, jokes on us all, honestly, because Dabb has basically pulled that maneuver on Chuck himself...
Drexel: The device, it's cemented directly into your DNA and that of the King's. As it's powering down in you, the polarity is somehow reversing.
and even now, this is literally become the method of Chuck’s undoing...
Castiel: Why would God write the blueprint to His own death?Billie: He didn't. The books write themselves. After God made the world, He couldn't stop. He wanted more. But He needed to create a perfect harmony -- a Swiss watch so that this world could keep tick-tick-ticking in His absence. He had no choice but to build Himself into the framework. It's His only weakness.
“He had no choice but to build Himself into the framework. It’s His only weakness.”
And this goes for all of this sort of thing, throughout canon. It’s not like this is what he WANTS to happen, but it’s literally built into the framework of the universe.
As above so below, and the polarity reversed the second Amara was released...

Why Octavia E Butler’s novels are so relevant today
It’s campaign season in the US, and a charismatic dark horse is running with the slogan ‘make America great again’. According to his opponent, he’s a demagogue; a rabble-rouser; a hypocrite. When his supporters form mobs and burn people to death, he condemns their violence “in such mild language that his people are free to hear what they want to hear”. He accuses, without grounds, whole groups of people of being rapists and drug dealers. How much of this rhetoric he actually believes and how much he spouts “just because he knows the value of dividing in order to conquer and to rule” is at once debatable, and increasingly beside the point, as he strives to return the country to a “simpler” bygone era that never actually existed.
More like this:
-        The 1968 novel that predicted today
-        The fiction that predicted space travel
-        The story of cannibalism that came true
You might think he sounds familiar – but the character in question is Texas Senator Andrew Steele Jarret, the fictional presidential candidate who storms to victory in a dystopian science-fiction novel titled Parable of the Talents. Written by Octavia E Butler, it was published in 1998, two decades before the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States.
Like much of her writing, Butler’s book was a warning about where the US and humanity in general might be heading. In some respects, we’ve beaten her to it: a sequel to 1993’s Parable of the Sower, Parable of the Talents is set in what is still the future, 2032. While its vision is extreme, there is plenty that feels within the bounds of possibility: resources are increasingly scarce, the planet is boiling, religious fundamentalism is rife, the middle classes live in walled-off enclaves. The novel’s protagonist, a black woman like the author herself, fears that Jarret’s authoritarianism will only worsen matters.
Fourteen years after her early death, Butler’s reputation is soaring. Her predictions about the direction that US politics would take, and the slogan that would help speed it there, are certainly uncanny. But that wasn’t all she foresaw. She challenged traditional gender identity, telling a story about a pregnant man in Bloodchild and envisaging shape-shifting, sex-changing characters in Wild Seed. Her interest in hybridity and the adaptation of the human race, which she explored in her Xenogenesis trilogy, anticipated non-fiction works by the likes of Yuval Noah Harari. Concerns about topics including climate change and the pharmaceutical industry resonate even more powerfully now than when she wove them into her work.
And of course, by virtue of her gender and ethnicity, she was striving to smash genre assumptions about writers – and readers – so ingrained that in 1987, her publisher still insisted on putting two white women on the jacket of her novel Dawn, whose main character is black. She also helped reshape fantasy and sci-fi, bringing to them naturalism as well as characters like herself. And when she won the prestigious MacArthur ‘genius’ grant in 1995, it was a first for any science-fiction writer.
Octavia Estelle Butler was born on 22 June 1947. Her father, a shoeshiner, died when she was very young, and she was raised by her mother, a maid, in Pasadena, California. As an only child, Butler began entertaining herself by telling stories when she was just four. Later, tall for her age and painfully shy, growing up in an era of segregation and conformity, that same storytelling urge became an escape route. She read, too, hungrily and in spite of her dyslexia. Her mother – who herself had been allowed only a scant few years of schooling – took her to get a library card, and would bring back cast-off books from the homes she cleaned.
An alternate future
Through fiction, Butler learnt to imagine an alternate future to the drab-seeming life that was envisioned for her: wife, mother, secretary. “I fantasised living impossible, but interesting lives – magical lives in which I could fly like Superman, communicate with animals, control people’s minds”, she wrote in 1999. She was 12 when she discovered science fiction, the genre that would draw her most powerfully as a writer. “It appealed to me more, even, than fantasy because it required more thought, more research into things that fascinated me,” she explained. Even as a young girl, those sources of fascination ranged from botany and palaeontology to astronomy. She wasn’t a particularly good student, she said, but she was “an avid one”.
After high school, Butler went on to graduate from Pasadena City College with an Associates of Arts degree in 1968. Throughout the 1970s, she honed her craft as a writer, finding, through a class with the Screen Writers’ Guild Open Door Program, a mentor in sci-fi veteran Harlan Ellison, and then selling her first story while attending the Clarion Science Fiction Writer’s Workshop. Supporting herself variously as a dishwasher, telemarketer and inspector at a crisp factory, she would wake at 2am to write. After five years of rejection slips, she sold her first novel, Patternmaster, in 1975, and when it was published the following year, critics praised its well-built plot and refreshingly progressive heroine. It imagines a distant future in which humanity has evolved into three distinct genetic groups, the dominant one telepathic, and introduces themes of hierarchy and community that would come to define her work. It also spawned a series, with two more books, Mind of My Mind and Survivor, following before the decade’s end.
With the $1,750 advance that Survivor earnt her, Butler took a trip east to Maryland, the setting for a novel she wanted to write about a young black woman who travels back in time to the Deep South of 19th-Century America. Having lived her entire life on the West Coast, she travelled by cross-country bus, and it was during a three-hour wait at a bus station that she wrote the first and last chapters of what would become Kindred. It was published in 1979 and remains her best-known book.
The 1980s would bring a string of awards, including two Hugos, the science-fiction awards first established in 1953. They also saw the publication of her Xenogenesis trilogy, which was spurred by talk of ‘winnable nuclear war’ during the arms race, and probes the idea that humanity’s hierarchical nature is a fatal flaw. The books also respond to debates about human genetic engineering and captive breeding programs for endangered species.
In her author photos, Butler appears a serious woman with an exceptionally penetrating gaze. At a talk she gave in Washington DC in 1991, later reported in the radical feminist periodical, Off Our Backs, she offered a fuller description of herself: “comfortably asocial – a hermit in the middle of Los Angeles – a pessimist if I’m not careful, a feminist, a black, a former Baptist, an oil-and-water combination of ambition, laziness, certainty and drive”.
That certainty and drive can be seen in papers from her archive, now housed at the Huntington Library. In 1998, some motivational notes written on the back of a ring-bound writing pad begin “I shall be a bestselling writer!” She goes on: “I will find the way to do this! So be it! See to it!” Elsewhere, she’s to be found urging herself to “tell stories filled with facts. Make people touch and taste and know. Make people feel! Feel! Feel!”
Butler died in 2006, following a fall near her home in Washington state. Though she had begun suffering from writer’s block and depression, caused in part by medication for her high blood pressure, she’d continued to teach, and in 2005, had been inducted into Chicago State University’s international black writers hall of fame. She published a novel that year, too, Fledgling, whose vampire heroine must avenge a vicious attack, and rebuild her life and family. By then, her books had been translated into 10 languages, selling more than 1 million copies altogether.
In the years since, her fanbase has only grown. It turns out that she didn’t invent the campaign slogan beloved by Trump. It was used by Ronald Reagan in his 1980 presidential campaign, and later by Bill Clinton, although later he described the phrase as a “racist dog whistle to white southerners”. Nevertheless, as Tarshia L Stanley, dean of the school of humanities, arts and sciences at St Catherine University, notes, when readers spotted during the 2016 US election that Butler had chosen the slogan for Jarret, it “jarred people into recognising that she’s been doing this work all along. She’d been trying to tell us that if we do not make changes, this is what’s going to happen. She constantly gave that message: this is the logical conclusion if we keep treading down this path. I think when people saw that phrase, it started a whole new group of people reading her work.”
Butler’s work is today the subject of fan fiction, television adaptations (there are at least two in the works), and lively attention on college campuses, where it’s read from perspectives as varied as critical race theory, Afrofuturism, black feminism, queer theory and disability studies. Stanley, who last year edited the essay collection Approaches to Teaching the Works of Octavia E Butler, is also president of a society dedicated to the author. Its membership is broad, she says, but the most gratifying surprise is how many young people Butler’s work is engaging. At the inaugural conference, there was even a panel of high-school kids.
What would Butler have made of the present political moment in the US? “I don’t think she would have been surprised”, Stanley says. She puts Butler’s ability to envisage our future down to a deep understanding of human nature – knowledge gained from having the role of outsider foisted on her in girlhood. This she backed up with research, reading journals including Scientific American, listening to lectures, travelling as far as the Amazon. For Stanley, the one lesson to take from Butler’s work is hope. “World building is huge in her canon, and so there is always hope that since we built this world, we can build another one.”
There’s a scene in Parable of the Sower when the best friend of heroine Lauren Olamina insists “Books aren’t going to save us”. Lauren replies: “Use your imagination,” telling her to search her family’s bookshelves for anything that might come in handy. “Any kind of survival information from encyclopedias, biographies, anything that helps you learn,” she goes on. "Even some fiction might be useful".
Butler’s novels are just that kind of fiction. The child who began writing as a means of escape, ended up crafting potent calls to socio-political action that seem ever more pertinent to our survival as a species.
Parable of the Sower, Parable of the Talents, and other books by Octavia Butler are published by Headline.

Shokugeki no Soma: Fifth Plate - OP analysis
Hi guys!
Since this week’s episode will be the last before the delay that has touched half of this Spring Season’s aired shows, let me present you the analysis of Shokugeki no Sōma’s last opening, “Last Chapter” by nano.RIPE. Keep in mind that this analysis will contain spoilers, so...
Tumblr media
If this doesn’t stop you, then let the fun begin.
Tumblr media
The OP starts with a purple curtain with Tōtsuki’s emblem, showing that the story happens in the theatre called the Tōtsuki Academy. It’ll be important a bit later.
Tumblr media
This shot (and some smaller ones concentrating on smaller groups) presents the established after the Regiment de Cuisine Elite Ten Council and new Headmaster. From right to left, it shows them in their seat order:
10th Seat: Megumi Tadokoro playing plates, which represent her famous hospitality
9th Seat: Nene Kinokuni playing a roller used in soba preparation
8th Seat: Etsuya Eizan shaking expensive wine bottles, showing his “Alchemist” side
7th Seat: Takumi Aldini holding his mezzaluna
6th Seat: Alice Nakiri dancing with a fork and a spoon, used in eating her molecular cuisine
5th Seat: Ryō Kurokiba with a pot used in cooking sea food
4th Seat: Akira Hayama playing on a frying pan with cinnamon
3rd Seat: Terunori Kuga playing his wok
2nd Seat: Satoshi Isshiki with chopsticks and a plank to serve his signature Japanese food
1st Seat: Sōma Yukihira holding his knife
Dean: Erina Nakiri conducting them with a ladle
The lyrics in this sequence is worth noting (source: https://www.animesonglyrics.com/food-wars-the-fifth-plate/last-chapter):
How beautiful the melody has to be To be able to reach that girl who's been hurt The girl is obviously Erina, hurt by her father’s ‘teaching’ and people’s attitude towards her becasue of the God Tongue, who, thanks to Sōma’s and their friends’ (but mostly Sōma’s) cooking, starts to enjoy cooking. This is the beautiful melody - sincere cooking.
One last note about the lyrics, because if I analysed it in its entirety, it would take me ages - the song is sung most likely from Sōma’s persperctive.
Tumblr media
The next shot shows Tōtsuki Academy hill on spring, sigifying the new year (most of our chefs are second years now) and new beginnings. At the front are the three Headmasters, though from Nakiri household, each of them is different. Senzaemon stands tranquil and firm, looking at the Jewel generations students, Azami looks as if he was trying to convince the world to change their ways - both of them are sure of their work, unlike Erina, who’s hands hugging her body and darkened eyes show her uncertainty.
Tumblr media
Next is the title panel, swiftly transitioning from fire to snow to finally sparkles and cherry blossom, showing Sōma’s path from conquering (usually he was the one to bring fire) to protecting - this will be important later. Also, Sōma seen in this frame has just begun to cook his dish.
Tumblr media
After the title, let’s skip to the big character exposition panels! First we have the peach themed frame with Nakiri girls: Erina, Alice, Ikumi (who, at the beginning, was working for the God Tongue) and Hisako. The peach may represent feminity, as there are only girls in here, and luck.
Next one’s the Polar Star Dormitory group shot with all of its residents present, with apples in the background. While apples may refer to various dishes cooked by Sōma and Megumi that included these fruits, apple symbolises youth, which is often brought up by Isshiki, Madame Fumio and Jun Shiomi.
Then we have a lemon-themed shot with Sōma’s “rivals” (apart from Isami, he never was battling Sōma on his own - it’s a reference from their first encounter during the Hell Camp). One of lemon’s symbolisms is freshness, which perfectly fits each of their meetings, bringing freshness into their lives.
Finally, with cherries signifying maturity, we get to see the original Elite Ten Council members.
Tumblr media
Each group pannel is separated by a dish frame. It’s important that only the white backgrounded frame has dishes prepared by various cooks - the rest were cooked by (from upper left to right) Sōma, Erina, Megumi and Takumi. This shows their strong connection forged in the Tōtsuki Train arc, where they were together, and predicts all of them participating in BLUE.
Tumblr media
Until now there was no clear shots focusing on strictly Sōma - now’s the time they are here. We get shots from his early past, reminding us also of the Karaage Wars arc, and from Stagiaire. Each time he’s standing in the bright light, surrounded by cherry petals, symbolising him being ‘spring’, beginning of the new era. The light here is very bright and yellom, as if he was standing on a stage - remember the opening shot with the curtain? Sōma is this story’s main hero, the one that iniciated the whole process of change in Tōtsuki.
Tumblr media
The contrast between Eishi and Sōma in this frame is spectacular - gourmet cuisine vs family diner, autumn vs spring, showing how Sōma became Eishi’s successor to the First Seat in the Elite Ten Council. Look at how gorgeous they look with flying maple leaves and cherry petals flying around them!
(keep in mind Tsukasa’s red kerchief/tie, this will be important later)
Tumblr media
The sequence right before the chorus is so full of hidden meanings! The first frame of this sequence is Sōma, standing in the light, probably on the top, reminescenting. His signature headband, now on his left wrist, is connected to...
Tumblr media
... his late mother, Tamako Yukihira! This is the first time we actually get to see her, besides the covered in light family photo from the very first episode. I love the gentle difference of colour shades between Sōma and Tamako - Sōma is bright as the light around him while dim shades of Tamako imply her being already in the realm of shadows, however she returns for a brief moment to life everytime he starts cooking. The frame is full of love and support Sōma got from her, showing how important she was in his life. His signature headband is most likely a memento of her - it’s the thing that keeps them tied after all these years.
Tumblr media
It quickly changes to Erina tasting one of Sōma’s dishes, seemingly taking pleasure from it. This screen (and two others, each getting closer to Erina’s blushed face) indicates Sōma’s desire to make Erina say ‘delicious’ - she’s the one he wants to make happy with his cooking. His mother was first btw :)
Tumblr media
Sōma’s knife is brightened by cherry petals - it shows his power coming from his cooking, cumulated in the cutting edge. This is the blade of change.
Tumblr media
Finally, Asahi Saiba appears! As you can see, he’s the one surrounded by flames, it’s not Sōma anymore. The leader of Noirs is the one who wants to disturb the balance. There is also some similarities between him and Sōma - their cooking look is similar, probably because both of them were raised (though differently) by Jōichiro. Also, he has a signature red kerchief around his neck, similarly to Eishi, however his kerchief isn’t loose on his neck, it’s tight and Asahi used it to cover his face, also covering his true intentions.
Tumblr media
This shot presents the famous BLUE fortress where the contest takes place. The frame shows the entire building, particularly the final building where the Bookmaster is staying, in the fantastic blue light, not calming as it may look like, but giving the one looking at it chills of excitement. The moon also reminds of the Autumn Selection and the Moon Banquet, taking place at approximately the same time as BLUE.
Tumblr media
Erina, held by Asahi surrounded by Noirs, is clue to one of this arc’s plot, as her freedom depends on Sōma’s ability to win against Asahi. Yes, it looks like she’s the damsel in distress - it’s direct parallel to Erina being ‘imprisoned’ by her father.
Tumblr media
There’s also a group shot of all of the WGO judges that we have met and the ones that we’ll meet during BLUE, of course on a blue background.
Tumblr media
This frame is very intriguing. There is a silhouette visible behind the two fighting cooks - it’s Mana Nakiri, Erina’s mother and the Bookmaster, the one behind all of this. There is an astonishing contrast between Asahi and Sōma - Yukihira wields a single, pink (like the cherry petals) blade while Saiba has two, which refers to his special ability, the Cross Knives.
Tumblr media
Finally, FINALLY Sōma gets his presenting shot. It’s worth mentioning that Erina was the first one to be presented - this is yet another way of showing their connection. She’s the beginning, he’s the end. Or maybe the other way?
In both this and the following frame we can also see Sōma being on the top/looking at his opponent from the top, foreshadowing his victory against Asahi in BLUE.
Tumblr media
This screen presents the two possible destinies of Erina: the upper is with Sōma by her side - most of their bonding moments take place under the starry night, so this shot is really meaningful, the nether - Erina as Asahi’s bride. While they both stand in the same place, the upper destiny seems more realistic, as the nether looks like a mere reflection of what could happen and the duo from the top is the one that moves a bit the water.
Note: Sōma and Erina were supposed to get married at the end of the series, but creators didn’t have enough space. The couple however has been claimed as canon.
Tumblr media
This is the final group shot of all Tōtsuki students we came to love, watching sakura blossom at night. It’s simply beautiful, watching their silhouettes near the bright water, cherry blossom and Tōtsuki Academy. This frame is full of love and reminescense...
Tumblr media
The penultimate frame is a direct continuation of the ‘destiny’ shot. Sōma and Erina are standing here, together. It’s gorgeous, beautiful, showing how close they have become and that a bright future awaits them, written in the stars. The lighting of this frame, warm and delicate, gives us a sense of intimacy and fondness.
Tumblr media
The last shot presents a dim silhouette of Sōma who ended his cooking (it’s the position we often got to see either on the episode’s numer frame or at the end of the episode) and, most importantly, Sōma walking away in the sunlight. It predicts Sōma’s parting from Tōtsuki to travel around the world, just like Jōichiro once did, but with a difference.
There is no storm to swallow chefs who want to reach the top.
Sōma and his cooking dispersed it, saving himself, his friends and Erina from it.

Blackstrap Molasses by Neonbat [NC-17, 40,000 word count]
Castiel has come back to his small Kansas hometown to work as a veterinarian while he aids in the care of his smallest siblings. An influx of new patients has him a little busy, but when he finds himself making home calls to an old acquaintance from High school his life takes a turn. Dean pulls him into his orbit, and the two must deal with the perceptions of hometown life, bigotry, and self-sabotage if they want a shot at things together.
Broomstick Cowboy by jupiter_james [NC-17, 18,000 word count]
Dean Winchester is one of the finest circuit riders of his generation, right after his legendary father. He's got the life he loves, with the exception of one thing - one person: his biggest sponsor, Castiel Milton. Despite being a ranch owner, Milton is only interested in one thing, and that's making money, even at the expense of animals past their prime. At least, that's what Dean's animosity has been lead to believe. However, coming face to face with his misunderstanding makes him reevaluate a lot of things, including his feelings for Castiel.

He appreciates the stubborn detective's desire for justice, but he'd appreciate Cas a lot more if he'd stop being a lawman long enough to just be a man. He certainly has all the right equipment. Dean Winchester was a Familiar meant for the wide-open spaces of the frontier. An ad in the paper combined with increasing pressure from his grandfather to sign a contract with a Witch of Samuel’s choice was just the motivation Dean needed to leave the big city behind. What he expects to find is a year of hard work and rough living cleansing the land of magics that corrupted it centuries ago. What he doesn’t expect is that the Witch waiting for him just might be exactly what he has been looking for his whole life. Castiel Angelus is cautiously optimistic that the Familiar he’s agreeing to work with, sight unseen, will be a good fit for his power. He’s chosen to work on the frontier in order to escape his demanding family and their unceasing ambitions. He finds that Dean’s compatibility is beyond his wildest dream. Their bonds, both magical and personal, will be tested to the limits as they encounter the source of the corruption and seek to defeat it, before it’s too late.

Dean is a sheriff in a tiny town in Colorado, restless and unsatisfied with his life. It's not what he's read about in the dime novels since he was little, capturing dangerous outlaws and being the last word of the law. Dean pursues the thief, and that puts him right into the path of Emmanuel, a notorious outlaw. The first era was stage 1 (2017-2019) the second era was qaurandean era (2020-2022) and now we are still in the post qaurandean era (2022-) the 3 presenters are at the Dean Tv underground exhibition, they are on a tube train moving from platform a to b. Going to the Dean Tv love section which is in platform b. Dean is at platform b doing a monologue verse to start off the 7th season. “2023 is here, a new season is now upon us. The 7th coming will start, the scene is set and we bet that this will be the best. Welcome everyone to Dean Tv love 7” he said. Then the title sequence starts off by showing the underground train moving fast through the tunnel, the train stopped at platform b. Then a P.O.V person comes out of the train and walks toward the Dean Tv love logo. DEAN Tv LOVE VII it says. Everyone cheered, the tube train what Alec,Kaden and Zara are on arrived at platform b. The door opened as the 3 presenters. “Here they come” said Dean. “Yes we are back, welcome to episode 1 of Dean Tv love 7” said Alec. “Yes here we are live inside the Dean Tv exhibition, at the Dean Tv love section” said Zara. “This is where one of the episodes of Dean Tv love 6 were filmed” Kaden. “Yes and we have guests, Dean Rodney Jr that is” said Alec. “Hi” said Dean. “So Dean are you looking forward to this new season?” Asked Kaden. “Yeah it would be great, all 45 episodes ready to be shown in 2023” said Dean. “So what’s the name of this episode?” Asked Zara. “The 7th coming” said Dean. The guru appears on the screen. “Yes that’s right Dean, hello everyone happy new year. It is 2023 so let’s get going” said the guru. Everyone watches the episode 1, the story begins way back in 2003. 20 years ago, the 13 years old Dean plays video games on the Dean advance. Playing super bro arcade, he made up to level 24 but lost. By the way dean is at his family house during that time. He turned off his handheld game console. “Wow I reached far” he said to himself. Fast forward to the present day, the year 2023 Dean is living in a mansion with his friends. He is in the living room, Louise is in the living room with him watching the news. Everyone is talking about the year 2023. “2023 A.D. has just begun” said Dean. Louise smiled. “You always put a.D. in every year” she said. “Well it’s because the A.D. is forward, B.C. is backwards” said Dean. Till one day they heard Darren and tyrone laughing in the games room, Dean and Louise went up the stairs to find out what is going on. “What is so funny?” Asked Dean. “Tyrone did a funny move while he was playing the Dean Tv system game” said Darren. “What game is that?” Asked Louise. “I don’t remember” said Darren. “It is Dean Tv go kart racing, when I threw that boom ball at one of the racers” said Tyrone. “Okay” said Louise. Dean laughed. “I know what that is” he said. “You do?” Asked Louise. “Yes I played the game many times” said Dean. Then one day Louise’s necklace starts to glow. “Hey what is going on now?” She asked. Dean,Louise and the twins teleported to the teilifis universe. The alternative universe of the Dean Tv universe. They are inside the teilifis building. “Why are we here?” Asked Darren. “I don’t know but these individuals know” said Dean. They see Tadgh and Mairead. “You know them?” Asked Tyrone. “Me and Dean know them” said Louise. “Wow you are here to visit our world” said Tadgh. Mairead smiled. “I used my ring to get you lot in our world” she said. Dean introduced Darren and Tyrone. Dean also meets himself, Louise did the same too by meeting her other self. Also meeting Helena as well. “Where do you lot come from?” Asked the other Louise. “We are from the real world” said Dean. “Ah yes Mairead told me about you lot” said the other Dean. After the introduction they went out to take a look around the town of teilifis. “Wow is this the what the town of teilifis looks like?” Asked Dean. “Yes and this is the Labhaoise side of town” said the other Dean. Labhaoise is an Irish name, it is the Irish version of the name Louise. I found out about it last year. They all walked around the town, Dean sees a statue of a lady holding a sword in her right hand and a shield in the other hand. “Who’s that?” Asked Dean. “That’s Labhaoise, she used to live here ages ago” said the other Louise. “Seems like this area of teilifis town shares it’s name from a warrior” said Tadgh.  They all see people walking. The Labhaoise part of the town can get busy sometimes. “That’s a nice statue” said Darren. The statue winked at him. “Hey did you see that?” Asked Darren. “See what?” Asked Helena of the teilifis world. “The statue winked at me” said Darren. The other Dean laughed. “She does sometime if you say nice things about the statue” he said. The statue agreed. Then suddenly strange people wearing masks.  They are causing trouble around the town. Everyone ran away from them. “Who are they?” Asked Dean and Louise. “It’s the masc warriors” said the other Dean. “Laochra masc” said Mairead. Mairead’s ring glows as she turned into Butterfly girl, Tadgh changed into part human part tiger. The other Dean changed into teilifis man, they went to fight the bad guys. Dean joined in his Dean Tv man form, Louise did the same in her celestial form. Darren and Tyrone hide behind the statue of Labhaoise, the masc people approached them. Till suddenly Labhaoise started to come to life to fight the bad guys and protect the twins from danger. “Wow did you see that bro?” Asked Tyrone. “Yeah and she saved our lives” said Darren. Labhaoise has long blonde hair, wearing a dress with lots of armour. She fought the villains. “Be gone” she yelled. “Wow the statue is alive” said Celestial Louise. The bad guys were gone, Mairead is amazed that Labhaoise helped them and also saved Darren and Tyrone from the villains. “She does that sometimes” said Mairead. Darren and Tyrone looked up at Labhaoise. Labhaoise gave Darren and Tyrone. Just like what she did ages ago when she protected young people from danger. Later that day Dean, Louise and the twins returned back to the real world. The people of the teilifis world waved goodbye to them. “Wow what a nice place” said Louise. “Yeah it is a nice place” said Dean. They all left the games room to meet up with Helena,Jason, Aaron and Jenesis. “You left the Tv on” said Jason. “That because me and Louise went upstairs to see what Darren and Tyrone were doing” said Dean. “What happened?” Asked Helena. “It’s a long story” said Louise as she smiled.
The episode ends and everyone cheered. “Wow what an episode for the 7th coming of the Tv love series” said Alec. “The teilifis world is based on a country known to be Ireland, cos of the Irish names and words like masc is mask and Laochra means warriors” said Zara. Dean agrees with Zara. “You have been learning” said Dean. “Well my mum comes from Ireland” said Zara. “Oh really?, I did not know that” said Dean. “I like Labhaoise, she has nice long blonde hair” said Kaden. “My favourite bit is when she hugged the twins” said Alec. The guru appears on the screen. “Well I hope you enjoyed episode 1 of Dean Tv love 7, next week is episode 2 bye” said the guru.
Then the credits appeared on the screen. With the ending sequence showing inside the train with the driver controlling it.
End of episode 1

Free Drama School at Yale

David Geffen School of Drama at Yale is Free!
Present and future students at Yale University’s drama school will no longer pay tuition, thanks to a landmark $150 million gift from entertainment executive and philanthropist David Geffen, the university announced today. The donation—the largest on record in the history of American theater—makes the school the only institution of its kind to eliminate tuition for all degree and certificate students, removing financial barriers to access. In recognition of the gift, Yale School of Drama is now the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University.

“David Geffen’s visionary generosity ensures that artists of extraordinary potential from all socioeconomic backgrounds will be able to cultivate their talent at Yale,” said Yale President Peter Salovey, who announced the news with James Bundy, the School’s dean. “It is exciting to think about what will be made possible by increasing access to the premier theater education at the David Geffen School of Drama. Our students help drive creativity and innovation across all fields—during their time at Yale and after they graduate. So, David’s transformative gift will have a ripple effect in our community and around the world. Dean Bundy and I are grateful for the trust David places in Yale through this exceptional commitment, and we hope students from every quarter will see that theater education at Yale is a possibility for them.”
Graduate education in theater at Yale dates to 1925. The Geffen School is the only graduate-level professional conservatory in the English-speaking world to offer training in every theatrical discipline: design, stage management, technical design and production, theater management, acting, directing, dramaturgy and dramatic criticism, and playwriting. It enrolls about 200 students across 10 distinct degree and certificate programs.
David Geffen is among the most enterprising and influential figures in American entertainment and a philanthropist whose vigorous support advances health, education, arts and culture, and civil liberties, among other causes. For nearly six decades, he has identified and nurtured performers and creative projects that have defined American culture through music, film, and theater. The founder of Asylum Records, Geffen Records, and Geffen Pictures, he also co-founded the film studio DreamWorks SKG with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg. In 2010, Geffen was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2011 the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honored him with the President’s Merit Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the music industry.
“It’s an honor to partner with Yale University to create the first tuition-free drama school of its kind in the nation,” said Geffen, who taught a course at Yale in the late 1970s. “Yale is well known for having one of the most respected drama programs in the country. So, when they approached me with this opportunity, I knew Yale was the right place to begin to change the way we think about funding arts education. Yale already provides some of the best professional training available to actors, writers, directors, designers, and theater managers from diverse backgrounds. Removing the tuition barrier will allow an even greater diversity of talented people to develop and hone their skills in front of, on, and behind Yale’s stages. I hope this gift will inspire others to support similar efforts to increase accessibility and affordability for arts education at colleges and universities across the country.”
The Geffen School of Drama will eliminate tuition for all degree and certificate students, starting with those enrolled for the fall semester that begins in August, and including returning students. (The School did not admit a new class for fall 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but added a fully subsidized fourth year for all enrolled students.)
“David Geffen’s gift will be transformative for us at the School and for the American theater at large,” said Bundy, the School’s Elizabeth Parker Ware Dean and its leader since 2002. “Full tuition support of our training will help us attract talent from the broadest possible spectrum of potential applicants, and it sends a clear message that Yale is a place where a stimulating mix of gifted students can devote their energies first and foremost to artistry. This will lead to a fuller representation of our society in every aspect of professional practice.
“It is a special joy that this new era dawns as stages at Yale and across the world prepare to resume live, in-person productions after a long pause during the pandemic: more than ever we need the healing and revelatory power of the performing arts and their special ability to transmit and celebrate the human spirit.”
Like the School itself, Yale Repertory Theatre, the professional theater in residence at Yale University, suspended live performances during the pandemic. Both will again welcome in-person audiences in the months ahead. The Rep’s new season will include three productions, beginning in January 2022 with a new production of Today is My Birthday, a critically acclaimed comedy about loneliness in the age of connectivity, written by playwright Susan Soon He Stanton ’10 M.F.A. and directed by Mina Morita.
Geffen’s gift to the university continues a relationship begun more than four decades ago. In the 1978-79 academic year, during a break from the entertainment industry, he led a semester-long seminar at Yale called The Music Industry and Arts Management. An overview course, it addressed topics such as organization, recording, publishing, production, distribution, finance, and publicity.
After returning to business, Geffen built rosters of superstar recording artists, including John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Elton John, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, and Hole; produced the films “Beetlejuice,” “Interview with the Vampire,” and “Risky Business,” to name a few; and helped bring to Broadway the Tony Award-winning musicals Cats, M. Butterfly, and Dreamgirls.
Geffen also became a leading philanthropist. He has provided major support for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, for example, as well as for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, Lincoln Center, AIDS Project Los Angeles, Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the Geffen Playhouse, and the arts education programs of Spelman and Morehouse Colleges.
His gift to Yale transforms financial aid at the Geffen School of Drama in perpetuity.
President Salovey said Yale is also committed to pursuing additional fundraising for projects that will further strengthen the School, including significant investments in facilities.
“I am incredibly excited for what’s to come,” Salovey said. “We would also like to be able to build a new home for the School, including a state-of-the-art facility for theater education and production. I am committed to making sure the students David Geffen will help us attract and support have the facilities they need for the full expression of their creativity.”
Playwriting Chair Tarell Alvin McCraney with playwriting students. Photo by Joan Marcus, 2019.
As Yale prepares for that work, the David Geffen School of Drama will be training the dramatists of the future. “For nearly 100 years, Yale has helped develop some of the finest theater makers and cultural leaders in the world,” Provost Scott Strobel said. “Before people like Meryl Streep, Paul Newman, and Lupita Nyong’o became household names, they trained on our campus and honed their craft as part of our supportive, impassioned community. This historic commitment ensures that the drama school’s next act will expand on that tradition.
“A defining feature of great art is its ability to engage, entertain, and educate wide audiences. The Geffen School of Drama has a similar mission—to teach us about our world and so to better it. This gift will further that mission and the School’s commitment to equitable access so that our future drama students and scholars continue to exemplify and raise standards of global professional practice.”
