A little something about the seiyuu, Umehara Yuuichirou that I want to get off my chest.

As the Fall Anime Season approached me, I looked for different series I could watch in my spare time. Besides the ones I already wanted to watch I thought to myself I should check out MAL for an official listing of all the anime confirmed for the season. I thought to myself: "Hm...why not?". My curiosity was at it's peak.

As I scrolled the long list of anime, some of them that reached my interest, I immediately noted them down. One of them happened to be this long-titled isekai romance with a title I couldn't even understand. The poster of the anime didn't really peak my interest but I noted it down anyway.

The first episode aired and then the second one, the third one.

I was hooked.

"I'm the Villainess so I'm Taming the Final Boss" or Akulas for short hooked me from the first episode. The opening, the ending, the story, the MC and of course Claude, the Demon King, played by no one else than Umehara Yuuichirou.

What I'm trying to say is that Akulas introduced me to Umehara-san and I couldn't be more grateful. The tone of his voice? The raspy and velvety sound of his voice? Hearing him talking about how he wants to spoil his then fiancee to the rotten, just made me shiver. I had to look him up.

And that's where it all started...and now I feel like a teenager again, who fell in love with the boy who offered her his pencil because she forgot hers in the other backpack.

And when I looked him up it truly felt like home..somehow. I loved everything about him, his face, his style and his movements. His mannerisms and the way he talks in interviews. His calm demeanor and the way he says "Oi" when things get awkward around him. The way he forces out a laugh because he is out of energy and just wants to synchronize with the others. His weird humor and vulgar words that has 0 correlation with his personality. But I love that honesty.

I tried to clean up this photo of him since it's one of my favourites so far. I know it's the 1000th time I'm mentioning his beauty, but can I do it again? And again?

In the back of my mind I hope that one day I will meet him.

And in the deeper corners of my mind, a part of me wishes that "me" would never existed and another "me" would emerge, one who is closer to him.

I'm pretty sure we all love our idols, or seiyuus in this case, but didn't you ever wish you can be friends with them? See them everyday? Talk to them about their daily life. Or just be there to see their career take off?

I will always have Umehara-san in my mind and heart because he truly makes he happy. He offered me so much peace in a time where i felt angry, sad and lonely. I loved the sound of his voice, it made my heart tremble with happiness.

I want to meet him and I want to see him in real life.

But most I can do now is to support his career and watch it as it blooms. So far he has a few roles confirmed for 2023 which is great! I will name a few that come at the top of my mind.

More of them to be confirmed. We will be very luck if we get him in Jigokuraku or Jujutsu Kaisen. He could do a great Toji. Or we get even luckier and get him as the main character in My Happy Marriage.

No matter what kind of character he will play, I will be there to support it, watch his lives, save his pictures, think about him when a love song starts playing and talk about him just like I did now.

And as I'm entering the conclusion for this little essay, I want to bring attention to the fact that he is also in a band!

It's called Sir Vanity and they have an album out! Go check it out and stream it. Their genre is rock and a very good one. Some of the tracks have been written by Umehara himself and surprise, surprise he writes about break ups. He can sing really well and guitar too. The other 3 members are talented as well so please support them! They will have a new song out so please follow their social media! They have an official Twitter account.

So, as I'm typing my final words I'm hoping that you, my dearest reader, had the patience to at least read a bit about Umehara. Maybe you will end up loving him as much as I do.

Have you noticed any differences between English slop farms and those in other languages? I encounter Russian ones quite a bit which got me curious if you have observations on them.

i'm admittedly not as well versed in these as i'd like to be, but i do have a couple observations

hornstromp is based in brazil, and their portuguese channels are significantly better than the english. better in audio quality, acting, and mixing notably. i think they over-do the sound effects in the english ones to distract from the voice actors having to act in a non-native language

the only other kind of foreign vs english slop i'm familiar with is japanese content farms, which rarely reach overseas. i've alluded to wanting to rant about them before, because "youtube anime" is a very popular form of japanese content farm. they follow a standard formula and current trends, similar to english ones, though notably having far higher quality voice acting, likely putting all of the budget into that. the seiyuus carry most youtube anime.

english and japanese farms both have a shared, let's say "pool" of video ideas and concepts that most channels draw from. shared concepts between these two pools include: sudden genderbending, love potions, turning into babies, fake-dating, turning into a cat, and probably more i'm missing

that's about all i can say for that, i don't venture far outside my native language (english) or the language i'm currently studying (japanese)

Rant about Sakurai Takahiro. (Getou's va)

I don't usually rant but I need to blow off some stream.

I just came to know that veteran seiyuu Sakurai Takahiro was caught cheating on his wife for 10 years with a writer of his radio show. The mistress had no idea that he was married as seiyuus are very good at hiding their marriage from paparazzi, his marriage was disclosed last month and the cheating was disclosed today.

What's worse is that the mistress really had no idea about him being married and actually thought she would be marrying him and oh my god...how can a person just downgrade so much to the point they feel the need to cheat on their spouse FOR 10 FEAKING YEAR And play with other people's hearts.

Due to the shock the mistress was h0spitalized and she is in deep tra uma.

Another worse thing is that seiyuu stans are making it all about anime which just proves that wow, fans sometimes are the reason for an artist's downfall like you telling me you are more worried about Getou's voice getting replaced than the fact that the voice behind Getou literally cheated on his spouse for 10yrs and played with mistress's heart and gave her so much shock to the point she was sent to h0spital???

Not everything is about anime and your favorite character, open your eyes and read the fucking room. This man caused so many trouble for his agency, wife, poor mistress, all the contracts of collab and solo work he had with different companies and what not.

Absolutely disappointed and disgusted to know that people like him even exist.

Kanade is a Tenma HC just sucks, im gonna start this off with that. The headcanon itself benefits nobody, and it doesn’t even make sense since a headcanon only really applies if it can be fitted INTO canon without much modification of the story, which (as you can see) isn’t the case. So this is an AU.

Where did this HC AU even come from? A ONE OFF THING DAISUKE SAID. In one of the sections of SVR (summer vacation radio)

This is a rant within a rant, but please stop using stuff VA/CV/Seiyuus say as proof to back up your agenda. This goes for ENSEKAI typos too, just because it happened doesn’t make it concrete

In the Hc, the tenmas (saki and tsukasa) adopt Kanade as a sibling- and this is where it all goes wrong. Kanade is not fit. She would get agitated EASILY around them, she’d be overwhelmed and overstimulated- even when Tsukasa is being gentle he is still a loud and eccentric character- Saki too! Both Tenmas are FUELD with enthusiasm like 80% of the time.

“What about toya? Toya has a similar character type to kanade! This should go for him to-“ NO. NOT AT ALL. Toya is USED TO the tenmas! Hell, he can be excited and enthusiastic too! You have a fundamental misunderstanding of all of their characters if you think Kanade would survive life with the tenmas without changing all of their stories. This girl can not run! You think she can keep up with the human versions of two GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ON CRACK WITH THE ATTITUDE OF A PBS KIDS PROTAGONIST???

After the sudden ending of the P.S. genki radio show, I was just holding my breath til some big news came out. It was either going to be a sudden illness or a scandal, and frankly I'm relieved it turned out to be the latter.

Cheating is terrible, yes, but...it is happening everywhere. Don't be naive. Not just in "celebrity world" but yes, in our very own "real world." I can't count how many friends, relatives, coworkers, and their extended circles have been cheated on/the cheater. Did all of them get shamed publicly and lose their jobs over it? No, cuz it's part of their PERSONAL lives. They just kept going to work as usual while dealing with this very *personal* matter on their own *personal* time. This is not a case of murder, violence, r***, etc....it's fuckin cheating, guys. The parties involved will figure out how to proceed with their lives. It is their business. It will be okay.

Not saying I'm not annoyed that it was done rather...boldly, on the radio show or on their trips for the DVDs. I wasn't even a regular listener but the times I did tune in or watch their travels, I was kinda like...HMM this is unusual for a female staff to be so...forward...like, so present...? I remember on Hinocchi and Tachi's kunitori show, their female staff person was there, but she kindaaa kept as low profile as possible and just did her job or answered if they reached out to her. Anyways, it is annoying if the show was/became sort of a vehicle for this affair, but it still has nothing to do with how I feel about his work.

Oh and I'm not buying this, "she didn't know he was married" talk. PLEASE lol. If I dated someone for 10 years, I think it'd get suspicious if we could never go over to his place, or spend major holidays together, or meet his family with me as his significant other. Gimme a break y'all.

I feel a little rambly now but I guess what made me wanna write this was all the comments on Twitter and here on tumblr. A lot feel similarly as I do, but I also saw a lot of comments calling for his roles to be changed, or things on the lines of, "how can I listen to his voice again when it makes me think of what happened," etc....but it's like...CHILL. He's NOT *your* husband!! The one who should be feeling butt hurt enough to not be able to stand his voice is his wife or the mistress. If you don't wanna support people you don't like, then sure go ahead. But I know if I had to go through and check every actor, artist, etc to see if any of them have ever cheated (and let's not even get into more serious offenses like violence, drugs, etc!), then I'd probably have nothing left to watch or listen to.

Anyways. Let me try to bottom line this. I'm just annoyed hearing about people wanting to outcast and recast Sakurai. He is a talented seiyuu. He went through a scandal before in the 2000s, but that was actually related to his actual work, for which he left the spotlight, "repented", etc. Quietly. FOR YEARS. And now this happens in 2022 and here's all this social media to blow it up. I'm pretty annoyed at all the "cancelling" going on in general with other celebrities/personalities, but in this case, such love life issues have nothing to do with these seiyuu's work. Probably just on him as a husband, but that's something that has nothing to do with me or his fans. And it's happened with Noburin , Tattsun... and more I'm sure but these were the only blowups that I was paying attention to as they happened and...yeah it annoyed me. Anyways, it's crazy. Rant over.

If anyone knows my blog by now or just took a glance at my bio, it wouldn't be a surprise that I chose him for this 🥰💛

No idea where to begin with him. I've voiced my opinions about him and love for him over the past 5 years so I honestly have no more words to say other than I love him as a seiyuu and as a person. His talents know no bounds be it voice acting, designing clothing, live acting, modeling, professional writing, music writing, singing, live music performances, dancing,,, the list goes on.

As a senpai, he's one of the sweetest and kindest in the industry. In the past, I've said how I love that the way his kouhais show affection and appreciation and love for him is heavily teasing him,, borderline "bullying" him 💀 but truthfully, just joking around and being sarcastic with one another. And I resonate with that. That's one way to show just how close you are with another person. And being able to playfully poke fun at someone shows just how much you know about them and how close you are to them.

As a kouhai, he's still the punching bag, too 😂 ,,, maybe it's worse? Honestly, I don't keep track. His relationships with his senpais are strong because he knows how to take care of them and have fun with them while also maintaining his respect for them (and let them tease you nonstop)

HIs personality is one that I've come to love a lot too. I just love his dorky, clumsy self a lot. AND HIS LAUGH.

I remember when I first heard it I was like '...that's not real, is it?' and then as I kept hearing it, it just became a part of him that was very endearing to me. Don't ask me why,, that's just how it is. It's just another part of him that makes him him and that alone makes me love it and him all the more. Also it's an indication that he's happy and having a good time, which then makes me happy and have a good time with whatever I'm watching/listening to like a radio, seiyuu event of any kind etc etc.

ANYWAY enough of this sappy rant 😅

All in all, I love Egu very very much. He'll forever be my seiyuu oshi until the day I die 💜

Seiyuu Rant #4, or the Autism Edition

in a way i've gone full circle in my autism journey because i started liking raiden shogun for her jp va (the lovely sawashiro miyuki!), who also voiced aranea

finding out that people read three of the chocobros (the three chocobros with jp vas i loved from way before ffxv - suzuki tatsuhisa [noct], miyano mamoru [iggy], and kakihara tetsuya [prommy]) as autistic really hit me in the brain like a sucker punch

BLEACH: The Thousand Year Blood War Ep 10 Reactions and Thoughts

Overall reactions:

Whelp, I don't know about you, but I was an emotional wreck after watching this one. I was so in awe of after watching Kenpachi and Unohana's fight that I forgot Renji and Ichigo were even a thing in this episode. While there isn't too much tot talk about in this one compared to last week's episode, I still just wanted to rant and rave about how much I loved the highlights and talk a little about Unohana's death.

Highlights:

Kenpachi vs Unohana continues and concludes: I cried, I almost screamed, I fell out of my chair again, and I even choked. WHAT A FIGHT! This is right up there with Yamamoto vs Yhwach for sure! There was stunning moment after stunning moment, JUST LOOK AT SOME OF THESE:

The last one in particular just screams 'HYPE!' I love this change from the manga. Even without context, each moment as a gif or as a clip is incredible to watch. You could freeze on most of these frames, take a screenshot, and chances are it'd make an epic screensaver or background. But the part that takes the cake for me is Unohana's bankai reveal. The moment she said 'Bankai', I choked. The seiyuu absolutely killed it, giving Unohana just right amount of menace as she speaks throughout the reveal. And to finally learn what it does, it's the cherry on the cake for me! I was hoping we would get more filler for the first time Unohana and Kenpachi met, but it was still a great moment, and seeing Kenny emerge from the massive mountain of bodies definitely got em hyped. And even though I knew it was coming, I still gasped and started to tear up when Unohana got impaled and Kenpachi threw his sword away. Just, look at this moment and try to tell me you don't feel anything:

Kenpachi's voice actor also did an amazing job throughout this moment, conveying the regret and grief he feels for killing the one person who brought him the greatest fight of his life. And then hearing Kenny's zanpakuto...AAAAAAH! In fact, this adaption was s effective it made me temporarily forget why I wasn't really a fan of why Unohana got killed off. Even when I go back and reread this fight, as much as I love it and looked forward to seeing it animated when the anime was announced, I still hate that Unohana had to die. Yes I know, if we had two kenpachi-level captains the war would probably be over within hours. Yes, I know removing Unohana, a master healer, raises the stakes for the other Shinigami because now who's going to bring them back from near death? Yes, Kenpachi needed some development to become OP as heck for end and finally get that bankai everyone wanted to see, but did it really need to happen by killing Unohana? I think I feel this way because Unohana is one of my favourite characters, and her character got more layers added to her during this fight, only for it to come to an end just as quickly as these layers were revealed. That's just a personal gripe of mine and has nothing to do with animation staff, who not only knocked this adaption out of the park, they blew it out of the water and into the stratosphere.

Renji and Ichigo - aka the dorkiness continues: more silliness with Renji and Ichigo, this time with Oetsu, who makes them do this famous pose:

I only wish we got to see the whole post rather than a pan down, but this still got a laugh out of me. Actually, considering how serious most of this episode was, the silliness was welcomed to offset some of the sadness. That being said, when Ichigo failed to find his zanpakuto and was sent back to the World of the Living, I couldn't help but feel a little hyped for what's come to.

So if I understand right, next week we're getting two episode back to back? Well, regardless, I am VERY excited for the next episode/s. We're getting Everything but the Rain arc, and we all know what that means!! :D

Pardon me, just going to list a few things I personally want from the UY remake:

Ten to be voiced by Ikue Otani- Ikue Otani (famously known for her cute, high voice as Pikachu) usually voices young boys and mascot characters and Ten fits both categories perfectly. (We can actually hear Ten at the end of episode 11 for the next episode preview, but sadly I can’t tell who his seiyuu is… He sounds absolutely adorable though.)

The Miss Tomobiki arc to be adapted into an OVA- The Miss Tomobiki arc was one of those stories which were done dirty in the 80’s adaptation. The original anime adaptation ends right till the beginning of the actual contest where the contest gets cancelled, while in the manga, the contest happens and is the what made the arc so special. There’s no way they can adapt 5 chapters into an episode and the remake is limited to only four cours, so I doubt they’ll be able to dedicate two episodes to the arc (it’s not impossible, though). If it’s an OVA, they don’t need to worry about the episode limits or the average 20 minute time limits and they can adapt the arc well.

Mr. Fujinami to be voiced by Shigeru Chiba- So far we’ve seen a good amount of seiyuus returning to voice other characters like Lum, Ataru, Tsubame’s original seiyuu’s returning to voice Lum’s mother, Ataru’s father, Mendo’s father. Even a seiyuu who voices a member of Mendo’s sunglasses squad in the original has returned to voice the principal. Since most of the returning voice actors are playing adults (understandably, since they’re older than the regular cast) I thought it would be fitting for Ryunosuke’s dad (who has some very bizarre lines and expressions) to be voiced by Shigeru Chiba who voices Megane in the 80’s adaptation. I dunno, it’s just something I thought which would fit very well since Chiba’s a very expressive seiyuu in his own right as proven by his role as Megane.

The rice cooker chapter to readapted- like the Miss Tomobiki one, this chapter was also done dirty and possibly the dirtiest among all of the AtaLum chapters. The 80’s adaptation version has more or less the same start and resolution as the manga, however the build up was changed and ruined for absolutely no reason. Instead having Ataru slowly build up worry about Lum for a week (the manga’s version), the anime instead has him womanizing without a care in the world for a whole week instead. Not only does Ataru’s tearful apology feel unachieved in the anime version because of the poor build up, but the build up just makes it feel as if Ataru only cared about Lum after he flirted with all the other girls, whereas the manga has him live his everyday life while slowly missing Lum’s presence and worrying about Lum. I would rant more about how much I hated the 80’s adaptation for this one, which is more reason as to why this chapter deserves a proper adaptation.

I just finished watching the VEPPer live on bilibili and MY GOSH I HAVE NEVER FELT SO MANY THINGS SO STRONGLY, I NEED TO RANT

I definitely wanna get the blu-ray more now lol, I wanna see them epically in hq

(Spoilers for the live under the cut. Watch this thing if you haven’t, PLEASE)

The introduction was so cool with the outline of their profiles and the shining letters appearing before them!

They stayed in character for I think more than an hour of the live, both in dancing and talking... It was so impressive to see them not make mistakes with it, and Koumoto-san had to improvise for a minute while Murakami-san got his hat secured again

I’m amazed they didn’t get the names wrong at all, but they did get stuff wrong a couple times, and it was the funniest seeing them sumble on their words, immediately shut up and stare at the other like “Ugh not this shit again”

When they did anime scenes and all they were so synchronized??? Oh my god they were more in sync than a vocaloid file, I listened to them many times because their ability to speak in sync was so amazing!!

The entire audience shining with the colors of VEPPer... one of the shots taken most further from the stage showed so many people that it took my breath

OMG THEY DID MY FAVORITE FANSERVICE THING, LIKE PUTTING THEIR HANDS AND FOREHEADS TOGETHER, I LOVE THAT SO MUCH

I had seen so little from these guys that, after just watching the LOVE! Live, I was expecting VEPPer’s to be, like, just fine. Like yeah, I’ll like it because I like Boueibu and its characters- WELL I WAS SO WRONG!!!! I was having fun from the start, but after seeing them perform Moon the Jealousy and Sun the Festival and hearing Murakami-san run out of breath, it hit me that I was comparing this to idol animes I like where there’s more idols that perform separatedly and have more time to rest. VEPPer somehow delivered an amazing performance from beginning to end, from their voices being very stable most of the time, to the many acrobatics and intense dancing- and only being able to rest when doing a costume change! Not to mention dancing on heels, which I can’t even walk on! I can’t believe how amazing this live was, it completely blew my expectations away!

Koumoto’s Moon the Jealousy didn’t stay in my mind a lot, but it caught my attention because he was so elegant!

Murakami did such a good job in Sun the Festival that I was seriously doubting he was out of breath. I initially thought he wasn’t because otherwise he was doing a great job. It was strange to see the cool Haru-sama being all genki though, haha

The back dancers having their own performance and slowly getting the audience into it, to finish epically introducing VEPPer in their galaxy idol costumes!!

Those costumes were so sparkly that I had to remind myself to look more at their faces instead of them. When not moving, the golden sequins were reflected on their faces!

The entire call and response! The questions about their most hated foods were so unexpected and funny haha

For the encore, they finally broke character and introduced themselves! It was strange to see the difference between cool anime VEPPer and happy irl VEPPer, but I liked how genuine they were and how much fun they looked like they were having

The most emotional song was saved for the encore... I thought Murakami-san was just singing passionately before he suddenly broke down crying, and my heart grew bigger when I realized he was supposed to sing “Thank you, fate. We met for the first time, didn’t we?” Since it was their first solo live, the lines were so fitting... Koumoto-san came to comfort him later with a hug...

Murakami had to keep the sadistic tsundere character for so long that he burst into tears as soon as he stopped because of all the emotion

I didn’t understand it too well but I think they said Koumoto’s parents came to the live to watch and found them in the audience to wave at them... That was so amazing and wholesome

Koumoto first and Murakami later, both did that thing idols do of thanking the audience without using the microphone. I know it from Aikatsu lives and it warms my heart so much every time I see it

They walked on stage holding hands for the second encore!

At some point they were both sobbing on stage unable to talk and there were 12 minutes of video left... I was wondering what would happen in that time, but my heart was so warm it had gone from solid to liquid to gas already

The seiyuus crying reminded me of when the characters did in ep12...

Murakami saying “Let’s see each other again soon... at the Second Live!!” was quite a slap to the face

They were both so close and comforted each other saying they didn’t want the live to end... The two encores were so emotional and beautiful

Everyone calling the cameraman, and the reactions to the Dadacha plushie were the cutest thing ever!!! I feel like even the cameraman knew everyone would love it so much, he looked so happy as well to be doing that
