Sounds of a Saxophone (Part 5)
previous Part 4 here, Part 5, final Part 6
2300 words
You oversleep the next day, and rush into class apologizing profusely to Chikao. He brushes it off, and smiles. Tsukamoto looks a little bit worried for Chikao, but the look vanishes when you question him with your own look.
The next day in band Hideri-senpai and Tanabe-senpai are standing together by the doorway.
“You looked nice,” Hideri-senpai says to you as you walk by. You flinch, startled, and rush over to your seat. Being the klutz that you are (of course), you trip and fall right into Chikao-kun. He stumbles forward, you having slammed into his back.
“[y/n]-chan!” he gasps when he sees you on the floor.
Hideri-senpai is there in a flash. “I’m so sorry,” he says.
“You pushed her!” Tanabe-senpai snaps. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
“I didn’t push her!” Hideri-senpai says back.
Tanabe grabs the front of Hideri’s shirt and pulls him into a standing position from where he’s kneeling beside you.
“Senpai!” you cry out. “It wasn’t him! I just fell!”
Tanabe releases Hideri. “I won’t let you get away with this.”
Hideri-senpai looks surprisingly calm. “I didn’t do anything bad to her,” he says again. He holds out a hand to you, and you take it. He has a very strong grasp and pulls you to your feet with ease, not seeming to have to put in any effort.
You nod. “Thank you, Hideri Senpai,” you say to him, bowing briefly. You move to walk to your seat, Chikao looking worried.
“What happened?” Chikao asks you as he sits down in his seat next to you.
You blush a little bit. “I was walking too fast, and I tripped.”
Chikao nods seeming distracted. “Oh hey,” he says turning his head towards you. “Do you want to walk home together today?”
“Sure!” you say whole-heartedly. “This time for sure!”
“[y/n]-chan,” Tsukamoto says to you, walking into the room.
“Yes?” you ask getting up so you can talk to him.
“Can I talk to you?”
“Of course!” you say standing up. You follow him into the hall.
“What’s up?” you ask him.
“Uh…” he turns red. “Well… did you know about your friend?”
You give a confused glance. You know exactly what he’s talking about of course, but you have to play the dumb card for her.
“Uh, the tuba player…?”
“Who?” you ask, you’re going to make sure he knows her name.
“Katou-chan.”
“What about her?” you ask not missing a beat.
“Well…” he inhales. “She asked me to the Agate Festival.
“She did?” you ask surprised. You didn’t realize she would do it so soon.
“Yeah…” he says half-heartedly.
“So what’s the problem?”
“I want to go…” he begins, and then gives you a pointed look.
You nod understandingly. Kumiko-chan. He wants to go with Kumiko. “Well. I don’t think Kumiko will go with you since Hazuki asked you. It’s the polite thing… and maybe you’ll like her more than you think you will.”
Tsukamoto sucks in a breath. He pauses and gives it some thought. “Thanks [y/l/n]-chan,” he breathes out.
You smile at him. “Sure thing!” you say turning to go. You see Kumiko standing there, and wave. She gives you a concerned glance, and waits for you to enter the room.
“Um… why were you talking to Shuichi?” she whispers to you.
You smile back. “We’re friends,” you say simply.
Kumiko gives you a skeptical look, but she knows it’s the truth. “Okay…”
You turn to look at her, and take on of her hands. “Really, Kumiko. Nothing is going on between us. It’s okay.”
She grins. “So then when are you going to ask Takigawa to the festival?”
Your eyes widen. “Ehh?” you ask letting go of her hand and stumbling backwards a little bit.
Kumiko looks concerned. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to pressure you,” she says quickly.
You laugh it off. “It’s okay,” you say to her. But in your head you are thinking about what you feel for Chikao. He’s a very good friend of yours, but everyone keeps asking if you guys are going to the festival together. You haven’t thought about it. You weren’t even planning on going, but so far Tsukamoto has plans with so many girls, and that means… You turn your head to glance at Chikao. He’s concentrating on a rhythm you guys have to play in another measure. He’s almost got it, only he’s playing the sixteenth notes at the end way too fast.
“Slower,” you instruct softly walking up behind him, putting your hands on the back of his chair and leaning forward like you see Yuko-senpai do with Mizori-senpai.
He looks straight up at you, and the mouth piece leaves his lips which are a shocking light red color. “What?” he asks.
You realize you’re staring at his mouth, and repeat the command looking at his eyes. They’re a bright deep almost purple blue color in the fading light of the band room.
He plays the whole measure more slowly, and correctly, as you go and sit next to him. He looks at you. “Thanks,” he says.
You smile at him. “Of course,” you say as you sit down. He’s already turned to play the section again, and lifting your saxophone, you join him in the last section.
“Wonderful!” Haruka-senpai says as she sits down with you guys from talking to Kaori-senpai about the trumpet solo, which has been causing a ruckus. As Reina-chan’s friend, you support her in playing the solo, but Yuko-senpai has been creating tensions within the band.
Chikao notices you concerned glance towards the trumpet section, and nods in agreement. “I hope it will work out also,” he says softly so only you can hear.
That day you are putting your shoes on, when Reina approaches you. “Kumiko and I are going to hike up a mountain for the festival. Come if you don’t go with someone.”
“Sure, Reina… but why?” you ask. “What do you mean?”
“Aren’t you going with Takigawa-kun?”
“I don’t think so…” you say. “I mean, everyone else seems to think we are, but I haven’t thought of it, and he hasn’t asked me… I mean, it’s only a few days away.”
Reina shrugs. “If he doesn’t ask you then come with us.”
You pause, but not wanting to regret saying anything that might come out sounding wrong, you don’t and just smile instead. “Yeah,” you settle for.
Reina and Kumiko start walking to the train station.
Chikao walks up to you, looking a little bit red. “Hi [y/n]-chan,” he says.
You look up. “Oh! Hi Chikao-kun,” you say brightening at the sight of him.
“Uh, you ready?”
“Yeah, let’s go,” you say.
He starts to leave.
“No Tsukamoto-kun today?”
Chikao shakes his head. “No, he needs to talk to Kumiko-chan.”
“But she’s up there…” you say pointing.
Tsukamoto bolts by the two of you. “Kumiko-chan!” he calls.
Chikao grins and stretches his hands up behind his head. “There he is.”
You laugh at Tsukamoto running after Kumiko.
“Do you think she’ll say yes?” Chikao asks.
You tilt your head. “I’m not sure,” you say honestly.
“Would you say yes to me?” he asks softly dropping his arms to his sides.
You look up at him surprised and smile widely. “Of course, Chikao-kun,” you say. “I’d love to.”
Smiling he moves a little bit closer to you and takes your hand. His is warm and soft, his fingers a little bit rough where he hits the keys every day, but you lace your fingers in between his and close the gap between you.
Chikao looks down at you and smiles. “I like you, [y/n]-chan.”
“Me too,” you say looking back at him, realizing it’s true.
On the train there are no seats, but Chikao holds onto a pole and holds you closer to him, the train being crowded.
As he gets off at his station and waves to you, you blow him an air kiss mostly as a joke, but grin as you see his face turn red. That night you are smiling to yourself the entire walk home.
The next day in band you are about leave when Hazuki pulls you aside. “Hey, [y/n]-chan!” she calls.
You walk over to her. “Hi!” you say. “What’s up?”
“I have a present for you,” she says grinning. “Meet me after band.”
“What? Why?” you ask shocked. It’s far from your birthday or any holiday, beside the festival which is tomorrow.
Hazuki flashes you a peace sign before running into her classroom down the hall.
“Hey! Hazuki!” you cry out. “Wait!” You run after her, and past the staircase, slamming into someone, falling.
They grab you around the waist to keep you from falling on your face. “Careful,” Hideri-senpai’s low voice says in your ear.
You gasp and push away from him. “Oh! I-I’m sorry! I-I d-didn’t mean to,” you stutter.
He just smiles. “It’s okay, [y/l/n]-chan,” he says. He pauses. “I know this is kind of out of the blue, but would you want to go—” he is cut off by Tanabe-senpai running up the stairs and putting him in a headlock dragging him down the hall.
Tanabe-senpai grins and rubs at Hideri’s head. “Ha-ha, he’s so weird sometimes…” he says apologizing, turning for a brief second. “Hey, just ignore him, [y/l/n]-chan.”
You swear you hear Tanabe say to Hideri “you can’t ask her! She’s with Takigawa-kohai.”
Hideri shoves Tanabe off of his head and then stalks away.
“Is everything okay?” Tsukamoto asks coming up to you.
“Yeah, I think so,” you say laughing a little bit. You’re not sure what happened there. “What happened with you and Kumiko-chan?” you ask redirecting the conversation.
“She’s hanging out with Kousaka-san,” he says looking at the ground. “I said yes to Hazuki-chan.” He doesn’t turn red but looks as if he couldn’t care less.
“Hey, Shuichi-kun,” you say using his first name. He snaps his head towards you, but you can’t back down now. “You’d better not do something bad. Try. If it really isn’t working, then Chikao-kun and I can save you…” you look into his eyes. He reads your message ‘but you have to really be trying first’.
He nods once firmly in response. He’ll try.
Hideri-senpai makes eye contact with you in Band as you’re about to leave, and smiles. You smile back, and then run out to go find Hazuki.
You meet her by your shoes and put your shoes on. Hazuki has a white box under her arms, and it looks like a shirt box.
“What’s the box?” Chikao asks walking up to the two of you.
“It’s a present for [y/n], but you’re not allowed to see it!” she says happily, waving a hand at him to go away.
“Um,” Chikao says. “I’ll just wait for you at the door.”
You smile. “Thanks.”
He holds up a hand as he walks out of the school and waits around the shelves towards the main doors.
Hazuki pulls the lid off of the box carefully, and you glimpse the soft purple fabric. You gasp. No way. She didn’t. “You didn’t!” You cry as she pulls the lid off all the way. She bought that dress for you. You hug her and wrap your fingers around her squeezing as hard as you can, your cheeks pressed up against each other.
Hazuki smiles. “I hope you’ll wear it tomorrow.”
“Of course!” you cry. How could you not when your friend bought this beautiful dress for you.
Hazuki smiles knowingly. “I know you liked it… and I think it would look good on you, especially next to Chikao-kun. I know it’s not the classic Yukata, but it’s more your style.”
You smile, and tucking the box carefully under your arm, you and Hazuki walk out to meet Chikao. He smiles, and you take his hand with your free one and ignore Hazuki’s squeals of delight. You meet up with Tsukamoto, and instinctively you both drop your hands. You don’t want to pressure him and Hazuki.
“Hey,” Tsukamoto says. “Where were you guys?”
You put your hand on the box. “Getting a present,” you say, tilting your head towards Hazuki.
Hazuki puts her hands behind her back, and you link your free arm through hers, walking next to Chikao.
“What’s in the box?” Tsukamoto asks.
“You’ll see,” you say secretively.
“She didn’t tell me either,” Chikao says. Hazuki and Chikao don’t get on the train with you and Tsukamoto, the two of you getting on at the stop they generally leave at. You wave goodbye.
When you get off of the train, you and Tsukamoto walk out of the station together as always, the night a deep rich blue, reminding you of Chikao’s eyes.
“I’ll walk you home,” he offers.
“Oh,” you say surprised. “Thank you.”
He nods and begins heading in the direction of your house. You are unsure of if he knows the way, and then you remember. You and Shuichi went to the same elementary school before you left to go back to America.
“Tsukamoto-kun…” you whisper.
“Yes?” he asks you.
“You’re… Shuichi…” you say stupidly.
He gives you a sideways look. One that reads ‘who did you think I am?’
“We went to the same elementary school with Kumiko-chan.”
“Yes,” he says readily. He knew this entire time.
“I’m so sorry!” you burst out. “I completely didn’t recognize you!”
He grins. “I kind of figured… I mean, I hardly recognized you, and we weren’t friends or anything then.”
You smile. “It’s so amazing to see you again Shu-chan!” you recall his old nick-name.
His scowl is short lived but appears all the same.
“I don’t have to call you that…” you tell him.
He shrugs. “I don’t mind.”
“Awesome!” you say. “There’s my house, thanks for walking me home Shu-chan!”
“See ya [y/n]-chan,” he responds lifting a hand. He turns around and walks back the way the two of you came.
(to be continued...)

This is a question SPECIFICALLY for DetectiveRJ. I’ve noticed one of your OC’s is similar to May and Imp from an online series called Twelve by Petpyves, where both Imp and Gary are dead and trapped in a pocket watch with said watch being worn by someone. (Dali and May) was that a coincidence? (Don’t worry Im not accusing you of taking elements of other characters or anything like that just curious)
I came up with the concept back in 2013/14 (here’s a friend’s art to prove it: https://www.deviantart.com/senpai-tuba/art/Dali-and-Gary-428822715 and https://www.deviantart.com/senpai-tuba/art/Re-imagined-Dali-and-Gary-486888441) and I don’t think Twelve became a thing until a few years later so yep, just coincidence. - RJ

haikyuu orchestra au, karasuno version. let’s go!
daichi: he gives off cellist vibes, definitely section leader. probably has a cello that isn’t polished but it looks so neat and pretty, y’know? he knows how to use the copier machine and makes extra copies of his music. a very responsible player. stops nishinoya and tanaka from annoying the band kids.
suga: first violinist, section leader until kageyama showed up and prodigy-d his way to the top. rents a violin. it’s polished. he’s the type to name it. (it’s named “haku” because the violin is a nice shade of amber.) will make extra copies of the sheet music but leaves it everywhere. the next class comes in and his leftover sheet music is on the stand. hypes up bow sword fights.
asahi: he’s a violist because he felt bad that there weren’t enough. the section is sandwiched in the middle of the orchestra and no one really cares for violas so he likes being there. gets sad over viola jokes. the type who’s pretty shy about his talent, but he’s the section leader for a reason. his playing is so smooth and pretty that it makes people cry. paranoid of tuning because oh my god the string might snap and hit my eye, so he asks kiyoko to do it. once dropped his rosin and almost cried.
kiyoko: she gives off cellist vibes. used to play saxaphone but moved to orchestra. before ukai became conductor, suga was supposed to conduct but he can’t stop cracking stupid jokes in between so she did it. everyone worships her at her feet. no one knew she was in orchestra until one day when she just appeared with a “gigantic guitar.” probably befriended a lot of theatre kids.
nishinoya: he saw a bass and saw a challenge. (the bass is twice his size; he can’t take it.) the type to sword fight with his bow. a literal prodigy, but he’s shit at being section leader so he’s second chair now. when the lower chairs ask how to play something no one can understand him. he forgets to bring everything he needs and is woefully unprepared. used his shoe as a rockstop several times. he named his bass “chad” for no reason other than “it sounded funny.” he once played during a sight-reading practice and it cracked everyone up. he rides on those bass buggies like they’re hoverboards and screams “ROLLINGU THUNDAAAAA”, knocking out like three band kids on the way. tried to snort rosin.
tanaka: definitely chose a mainstream instrument, most likely cello because “violins are too screechy! EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!” he calls it a knockoff guitar. people are always surpised when he says he’s in orchestra, he seems more of a band kid. maybe even a delinquint. he and nishinoya sword fight with their bows. he def makes viola jokes, which makes asahi sad :’(. he plays too loud during the soft parts. a good and dedicated second chair, but he puts the stand so c l o s e to him when he practices. daichi either wrestles for the stand or gets another. memorized meme songs and plays rick astley’s “never gonna give you up” in the hallway and a saxaphonist joined in before a teacher told them to knock it off. actually snorted rosin.
ennoshita: this boy is a second violinist: practically forgotten. he’s definitely section leader, because WHERE ARE MY CAPTAINS AT??? he’s a responsible senpai and stops nishinoya and tanaka’s bow sword fights. also knows how to use the copier machine and makes extra copies for his kohais. a god at shifting.
kinoshita: bassist, section leader. he brings extra things because of nishinoya. used to take piano lessons and sometimes uses the one in the choir room if no one’s looking. his playing is very neat and tidy and he’s better at explaining than nishinoya.
narita: violist, third chair. likes to turn around and talk to kinnoshita and nishinoya. uses the copier machine for other classes. he gets along with band kids and tried to learn the flute. (it was a mistake.)
hinata: he saw little miss ling ling play a violin solo and wanted to do that himself. he’s barely a beginner so he’s last chair but he’s! so!! enthusiastic!!! he picks up things pretty quickly and he’s pretty good but he has no sense of rhythm. you know that one violin in the back who sounds kinda off? yeah that’s him. he loses his place in the music pretty easily and his stand partner has to help him out. wanted to sword fight with tanaka and nishinoya but ennoshita stopped him. (suga: “fight! fight! fight!”) visited the band room and got his head stuck in a tuba. his hands are small and can’t reach some harmonics; he cries over that at night.
kageyama: this prodigy can play all instruments, but he specializes in the violin. took suga’s spot as section leader, but he’s shit at leading so suga does it anyway. always out-plays hinata because he’s got the melody and harder music. a sight-reading god. he memorizes the music, the entire thing, even if it’s five or four pages long. no one knows how he does it, not even himself. he definitely plays all-region and played nationally.
tsukishima: he was tall so he just got put in as a bass and never got out. he definitely makes viola jokes, especially when asahi’s around. he makes fun of nishinoya for being half the size of a bass. goes in empty practice rooms and just... does his phone. someone comes in, probably hinata, and he stares at them until they leave. he memorized the melody of the jurassic park theme song (it’s not that hard).
yamaguchi: viola bby!! he and tsukki talk a lot. ukai almost moved the two to last chair so that they’d shut up. he has his own viola with a nice green case and he puts stickers on it. he was a pretty average player until he started to learn all-region music. he practices a lot and wants to do his best!
yachi: i feel like she’d like low notes, but not super deep, so she’s a cellist. she was, unfortunately, tanaka’s stand partner, but kiyoko switched places with him to calm her down. used to be in art but wanted to play an instrument. almost chose band, but she saw hinata’s head stuck in a tuba and decided not to. always ready for anything, even has extra rockstops. a very quiet and nervous player. ukai keeps telling her to play closer to the bridge. she’s good at sight-reading.
takeda: he’s that substitute teacher that has no idea what’s supposed to be happening but he’s interested. at least the students help out. he gets all the things they need and has them on him at all times. nishinoya accidentally dropped his rosin again? he’s got one. the band kids broke the copier machine again? he’s got another copier machine at home, he’ll copy their sheet music for them. what a guy.
ukai: a bassist. once tried to play violin to give the violinists “a visual representation” and he sounded terrible. the type to not care what’s happening: the band teacher once reported tanaka for cursing but ukai lets him off with a “don’t do it in front of teachers.” his desk is a mess but takeda tries his best to organize it. (the longest it’s stayed clean was thirty minutes because ukai suddenly lost his lighter.) a very agressive conductor. when the orchestra can’t play on beat, he yells over the screeching and S L A M S that motherfucking baton on the stand. he’s broken at least three. (one split in half and flew past yamaguchi’s face, almost missing his eye. it was scarring.) takeda has twenty more batons in his pockets.
saeko: she used to be a band kid and has no idea what’s happening, but she’s so excited! her little brother’s up there! oh, you can’t see him? LOOK HARDER. claps the loudest after performances. everyone looks at her weird.
michimiya: second violinist, second chair. she and ennoshita talk about the other players, primarily daichi because why is the man so ripped he’s only in orchestra. she helps hinata a lot.
akiteru: cellist, used to be last chair. tried his best, but some people will always be prodigies. supports kei no matter what.
udai: ling ling. he’s that kid who knew how to play the violin since he was six because his parents wanted him to play an instrument and pushed him a lot to succeed with it. once he was out of high school, he dropped the violin and became an artist. he plays sometimes, like for birthdays and shit, but he’s happier without the pressure.

Teaser Movie Interview with Uchida Yuuma
“Hello everyone! I’m Uchida Yuuma, and I provide the voice of Kuramoto Takara in Wind Boys!.”
Tumblr media
“As you all can tell, Wind Boys! is a work depicting the theme of wind ensembles. Right now, I’m holding on to this instrument called a ‘tuba’ as I talk. To tell the truth, I actually do have experience playing this instrument from back in middle school.
To be able to participate in such a work that’s centered around wind ensembles, a subject in relation to my own life, I’m really happy.”
♪ Continued under the cut!
Tumblr media
What were your first thoughts upon learning about this work?
Uchida: Although recording sessions hadn’t begun yet, and I was in a state where I hadn’t yet met Kuramoto Takara, I was really looking forward to finding out how the story about the wind ensemble would unfold. As expected, it wouldn’t be going overboard to compare wind ensembles to a form of sports. There’s an emphasis on things like sharpening your spirits, so it’s extremely intriguing to find out how the boys would face up to being in a wind ensemble.
Please tell us a personal anecdote of yours regarding the tuba.
Uchida: Middle school was when I first started out learning music. At that point of time, it wasn’t as if I wished to play the tuba right from the start - I wanted to play the drums, but there were too many people who wanted to play them too. So my teacher told me, “You’ve got the embouchure of a tubist, so go play the tuba.” *laughs* Before I knew it, it was somehow decided that I would play the tuba. To end up starting out while harbouring such feelings...at the beginning, I couldn’t play (the tuba) at all, but there was a time when Senpai was really worried about how “Yuuma-kun absolutely doesn’t seem like he’ll eventually be able to play.” I heard about this from the teacher, so I couldn’t help but feel guilty about it. For an entire week after that, I kept my focus on the tuba, and my playing kind of improved a little. It was my first time ever realising that humans can somehow make it through things as long as they put in the effort to. Humans can do anything if they try. Perhaps it’s a spirit of mine that’s carried on till this day.
Please give a message to everyone who’s looking forward to this project.
Uchida: Once again, I hope that Wind Boys! will become a work that can passionately deliver the concept of wind ensembles to everyone. Whether you’re already in a wind ensemble, or are relatively unfamiliar with it, I’d be happy if you’ve become more interested in wind ensembles after learning of this work. Please look forward to Wind Boys!!
“With that, this was Uchida Yuuma. It’s been a pleasure, everyone!”

Band Nerd/Geek BTS
A/N: This is a shout-out to @cinnaminsvga (I love her writing so much. Notice me senpai.) who talked about a band geek Jungkook and I was like I need to bring in my 8+ years of band experience to write a quick thing inspired by Zee bringing it up. I do love her writing and if you haven’t read her stuff, DO IT! Its amazing. I recommend the text series Lonely Hearts Club. You will laugh and cry within the 48 different installments and an epiluoge for it will be out at some point. That’s enough gushing about her. On to the writing. And for reference I played Alto Sax and Bassoon in my band years. So I have a more intimate knowledge on those two sections and a more outsiders view of the others.
~Bagel
P.S. I will be referring to the person as the instrument. Ex. A tuba player is a tuba, trombone players are trombones, flute players are flutes, so on and so forth. That is how you refer to things in the band world or at least that’s how it was in my band career. Also bassoons and oboes are double reed instruments, so they will be referred to as oboes/bassoons or double reeds.
P.S.S. I know these are just stereotypes. This is just what I observed in my band career (mainly in high school). And please ignore any mistakes. I’ll clean it up later when I have more time.
Jin: Flute
He just gives me a flute vibe. I can’t pinpoint why, but Jin’s a flute. Flutes are almost like clarinets, but more social. For the most part are great people.
Yoongi: Bassoon
To be a double reed player, you need to be weird. No double reed is normal. As a bassoonist, I will whole-heartedly agree. What sets bassoons apart from their oboe counterparts is that bassoons are not as social. Everyone likes them and they’re friendly, but they don’t talk as much.
Hobi: Oboe
As stated above double reeds are weird. Oboes are very social though compared to the bassoons or even other sections. They are the social butterflies of the band.
Namjoon: Clarinet
Clarinets are the smart ones of the band. They had the 4.0s, in AP courses, most likely to have a mental breakdown because they were in a million different things. They are the over achievers.
Jimin: Alto Saxophone
So saxes are toned down trumpets. They are arrogant and cocky and loud, but more friendly and not as overt with their confidence.
Tae: TROMBONE
Trombones were the second weirdest group of the band. Right behind percussion, but they were like the sweetest people. If I were forced to date someone based on the band instrument that they played, I would choose a trombone player.
Jungkook: Trumpet
So in my experience, trumpets came in two different flavors. Insanely cocky and everyone wanted to kick them out of the band or really sweet and kind and quiet. I feel that Kook would be a happy medium of the two. He would be cocky especially if he got first or second chair, but not as loud about it as other trumpets.

Marching Band Headcanons!
For a lot of schools, marching band season is upon them! So let’s “drum” it up with some headcanons about the senpai!
Izumi: 10th grade. He’s a freaking cutie on the cymbal line. Izumi is determined when practicing and performing, but extremely flustered on a regular basis. More often than not, he’s almost left his cymbal bag behind at schools and on the bus, getting so embarrassed each time Wakatoshi finds it first and lets him know.
Yuu: 11th grade. One of the top clarinet players in the school, and is section leader. He is the master of hitting the higher notes, thinking them almost cute and enjoyable. He always brings his stuffed bunny rabbit to competitions, and before every performance, makes him “kiss” all the members of his section for good luck.
Ren: 11th grade. In the front ensemble playing vibraphone. He is very good at his instrument and a natural sight reader, but he often falls asleep over his instrument, even while playing it. He never hears the end of it from Touru, ever. Is often woken up by Reiji and his impossibly loud instrument.
Touya: 9th grade. Colorguard. A bit clumsy with rifle, but enjoys dancing and twirling the flag. Will always look good in the color guard costume, no matter what it is or how ridiculous it looks. Touya has some of the highest spirit and is often found chatting with Jae, crafting up plans and pranks.
Hajime: 12th grade. Sousaphone, but totally wants to show off that he can lift the tuba on his shoulder, so he asks the band director every single year if they can switch to tubas instead. He totally adds to the raw power of the low brass, and his dynamics are out of this world.
Reiji: 11th grade. Trombone, great performer but also messes around when the drum majors aren’t looking. He’s often at the back of the bus doing homework, but won’t hesitate to get involved in the playing of some meme-tastic song if it starts. Is the section leader.
Shun: 11th grade. In the front ensemble playing drumset. There isn’t often music written for him when they receive their part, so he uses the familiar lines from his video games, but also creates his own. Is often told to quiet down by Kyouya, because he’s right in front of the podium and playing his heart out.
Souma: 10th grade. Smaller bass drum on the percussion line. He’s a bit of a health nut when it comes to marching band season, making sure that everyone’s eating (often finding himself feeding and forcing water on members who refuse it because they “want to look tough”). He’s not the best marcher or loudest player… but boy, does he make up for it in spirit and determination.
Wakatoshi: 10th grade. Tenor drum percussionist. He often teases his fellow percussionists, particularly Izumi, but when he needs to be he can be very in-time. Yells the loudest if they get out of step, counts the loudest with the boldest voice.
Makoto: 12th grade. Trumpet player and section leader. Makes sure to keep their members in focus, but also teases and does weird chants to boost the section’s ego. However, he’s the pride of the band with his good grades and great playing.
Tokiya: 10th grade. Colorguard. A natural with sabre, making Ryuu jealous, as the older boy had to really work to be good at it. Tokiya is very smile-y and vibrant as a member of the guard. He is constantly working on his technique to better himself, and refuses to let others get him down.
Akira: 11th grade. Bigger bass drum on the percussion line. He also doubles as the mascot when running around at football games, and one time, he forgot to take off his mascot head to switch to his marching hat before going out to the field. It was simultaneously his best and most embarrassing moment. He’s often in charge of making sure everyone has their sticks and has the cleanest taping skills.
Soujiro: 11th grade. Flute. Elegant with the instrument with his rich tone and vibrato. [He’s one of those losers who prefer concert season over marching]. Is kinda strict and frustrated with the section’s behavior (because flutes, y’know?), yet if he overhears another section talking smack about the flutes, he doesn’t hesitate to lash back. Is protective over his lil’ Hinata, but is weary that he is friends with Ai - he thinks Ai is spoiling him with a bad attitude.
Souh: 11th grade. Clarinet. In concert season, he’s the one bass and contrabass clarinet, so it makes him sad when it’s time for marching band and he has to close the case on those instruments for a little while. He’s always a little salty about the fact that clarinets are so hard to hear on the field, so he really works to his dynamics rather than his upper register.
Touru: 11th grade. Deputy Drum Major in the marching band, who is very proud and excited to have gotten his position. He idolizes Kyouya, who is the Head Drum Major, and aims to be just like him. He totally memorizes the handbook and enforces it, that nerd. Appreciates quiet.
Hideki: 12th grade. In front ensemble playing marimba. The kid that always practices his part two hours a day, and somehow manages to fit in all his schoolwork. He can do two sticks per hand and is working on three for his final year. Always seems tired. Is going to get into a great university, and still play music - but not major in it.
Suzuki: 11th grade. In the front ensemble playing keyboard. He has memorized the entire system of packing and unpacking the truck, but is also that kid who you have to remind to change his keyboard from “Ghost Sounds” to “Piano” before the performance.
Yamato: 11th grade. In the front ensemble playing guitar. He’s always picking away at his guitar and carries it to classes, too. Was dragged into the marching band by Suzuki his sophomore year because “they needed a guitarist” and he’s decided to not leave. He actually really enjoys being in the group.
Kyouya: 12th grade. Head Drum Major of the marching band, his second year of holding the title. He works very hard to keep everyone in order and in line, but some of the members often stress him out. He’s also constantly reminding Touru that he doesn’t have to be so uptight and strict, but to no avail.
Takeru: 11th grade. Tenor sax player. He played it as a child because that’s what his teacher chose for him to play, and he hasn’t let go of it since. He loves to play it, but often finds himself a little lonely on the bus. He really enjoys talking to the cheerleaders, especially one in particular who he’s known since he was little.
Haruka: 12th grade. Mellophone player. He often goes along with Viktor’s pranks if they’re harmless enough, much to Kyouya’s agony. He knows a lot about instrument repair, to the point where if your instrument breaks right before competition, you can bet that he can fix it, somehow, someway. He’s also that kid who went the extra mile and got First Aid and CPR certified.
Jéan: 11th grade. Alto saxophone, motivates the section with suave comments but also annoys them by blasting Careless Whisper. Likes to pull his shorts up a bit too high during practice. Some members find him amazing since he’s one of the only few students who can pull Touru out of his serious face and into other emotions [mainly flustered].
Ai: 9th grade. Flute. He plays “My Heart Will Go On” and so many other ridiculous, cheesy love songs that you just… do not want to hear on the bus ride down. It’s his speciality, and he’s constantly getting chastised by Soujiro for it. Is probably going to be a good flutist if he practices a little more.
Hinata: 9th grade. Flute, the more quiet appearing twin. Whenever the section has a gathering, he’s that sweet, awkward freshman that shows up. Older members saw him as pure and sensible, but once he gathered the guts and became friends with Ai, he became mischievous and a prankster.
Sousuke: 9th grade. Alto sax, and a natural marcher. He always has the snacks on the bus ride down to the competitions or parades. He’s also in the orchestra on cello, and can sightread pretty well. He loves music, but isn’t sure if he wants to pursue it yet.
Kei: 10th grade. Baritone, because that section is a mystery. He’s always in all black during the summer practice. How he doesn’t sweat too much is a marvel in itself. He’s also very consistently in step and comes to band camp with all his music already memorized. Even if they got it the day before.
Takahiro: 11th grade. Drum captain and head snare. Nobody is sure how he has the cleanest taps and beats, because there’s no way he can practice that much with his part-time jobs. He practices on a drum pad before bed, in his limo, and during lulls at work. Do you even practice, bro.
Katsuo: 10th grade. Trumpet and co-section leader. The stricter, but louder one. Made the members become a lil’ homo to each other but have the “no homo” motto. He is the one who is shirtless every single day of band camp. Also on the swim team, as he hopes his extracurriculars make up for his grades.
Ryuu: 11th grade. Colorguard captain. His specialization is rifle, but he’s good at flag and sabre as well. He can do an eight with rifle, and coordinates the costumes best. He is very proud to have gotten the title of captain his junior year, but has a small rivalry with Tokiya.
Kurou: 11th grade. Trombone player. He and Reiji often double-team people with the trombone “whoooooooooooooooomp” slide to scare them. He adores to play his instrument too and is strangely good friends with the prickly Guard Captain. Directs plays in theatre as well, and nobody is sure how he gets enough sleep during the fall.
Viktor: 12th grade. Bari sax player. He’s the one that suggests all the senior pranks and is close friends with Kyouya and Haruka, who he’s been in band with since 9th grade. He learned bari sax because he was determined to learn it after someone said he couldn’t, and adores the instrument. A lot of the younger members look up to him for his pranks and ability to get out of situations where Kyouya is chewing him out.
Itsuki: 9th grade. Sousaphone. He is actually lowkey strong and believes the massive instrument will help him get noticed. ...It hasn’t quite worked yet. However, he’s got a lot of air and can hold is own as a sousaphone player. He also really enjoys wearing the beret over the hat. Strangely good friends with Viktor.
Jae: 12th grade. Colorguard. He’s the main dancer and absolutely loves dressing up in the main costumes as the star of the guard. He doesn’t mind not being Guard Captain, since it means he can dedicate more time to dance club and his final year.
Seiichi: 11th grade. Clarinet player. He’s been chewed out since day one for his mechanical playing style and his strict adherence to the rules, but you can use him as a natural tuner or metronome. He reminds Touru of little things or is Touru’s soundboard if he needs to rant. Plays oboe during the concert season.
Bonus Kouhai: 9th grade. Cheerleader, but she’s not one to be with the football team; she much prefers to chat with and spend time with the members of the band. Her small stature allows her to be the person that they lift and toss into the air.

Note
i just realized emiel is release the kraken guy, who's the rest of the brass quartet???
Last year, me, Emiel, (Henry from the channel), and a trumpet player named Jess were in a quartet together.
This year Henry ditched us >:( and my senpai (https://www.youtube.com/user/EuphoniumPlayer21797) joined on tuba. A Euph/Music Ed major took Henry’s place on tbone so we could form a brass quintet ^^
So it’s only emiel and I that are from the channel in this year’s quintet haha.

30.09.
See nädal hakkas Võõrkeeles Vestlus Partneri programm, kus ma olen vabatahtlik.

SUB STORY: Perfect Pitch Music Academy: Marching Band Division
“Musical instrument training!”
Tumblr media
Kanon: A musical competition…. and they said the entire school has to participate, didn’t they? Hinata: So what you’re saying is, we have to join too?! Sadone: Waa! Sadone’s gonna play her instrument! Here goes… Narration She blows into it! And then again! Narration: Silence… You: T-That was…
Tumblr media
Sadone: Huh? Why… won’t any sound come out…? Haruka: The trumpet is a difficult instrument to blow air into. Haruka: You’re just starting out, so it’s going to take some time to get any clear sound out of it Asuha: Seriously?!
Tumblr media
Kokomi: I’ve heard that the trombone is like that too. Haruka: Yes… as is my tuba, because the shape of the mouthpiece on all these instruments is the same. Asuha: What’s this…? Goodness, I can’t do it either… Sadone: Sadone can’t use her instrument… sniffle. Kanon: I-If we show up to that competition and can’t even get sound to come out of our instruments… You: There’s no doubt we’ll get busted for being fake students! Kanon: I’ve been embarrassed like that before! There’s no way I’ll let it happen again! Kokomi: B-But, what are we supposed to do… they said there’s only a few weeks left until the competition… You: It’d be great if we could find the『Holy Tree’s Sprout』before then, but that doesn’t seem likely.
Tumblr media
Asuha: Be that as it may… we have no choice but to treat this like any other training, wouldn’t you agree? Hinata: Uuu… haven’t we been already been training until we came here~? Kanon: There’s no need to worry. If we put in some practice, I’m sure we’ll be fine, right? You: There’s no way of knowing just how much “some” practice is, though… You: That’s right. We’re not actually students here, and the number one thing we want to avoid is that information getting out. You: Alright, everyone. This will be our first mission. We need to be able to put on a performance with these instruments. Kokomi: I don’t really understand the point of this, though. You: This will play a role in our undercover investigation too. It can’t be helped. Asuha: That’s right. Asuha: If at all possible, I’d like to turn to Haruka for directions.
Tumblr media
Haruka: Wha… Haruka: B-But, I… Hinata: Agreed~ I’d feel at ease with Haruka-senpai in charge! Kanon: Me too. You’re great at handling instruments, you’re totally suited for this. Sadone: Sadone wants to be as good as you are at this! Kokomi: Haruka-senpai… it’s a pleasure to work with you… Haruka: Y-You guys… Haruka: …Tch. Haruka: …I understand. I think I can do this. You: Ohh! Thank you, Haruka! You: And as your teacher, I’ll do my best to gather helpful information. We’re all counting on you. Haruka: …Alright, Sensei.

my faves playing go
senpai
-got lobo like. immediately. hes grailed to 100, skills 10/10/10, max bond, ect.
-like how i am w sacchan thats senpai w lobo. like hes got pics in his wallet of lobo and whips out his phone to show off lobo in his myroom to everyone he meets like “look at my best friend!!!!!” hes just so happy that lobo is buddies w his other self
-the rest of his team is like... all the american servants prolly. like geronimo, billy, bunyan, edison, ect. he also loves the folklore/legend/ghost story related servants. bunyan protection squad. if hanako chan is ever added hes adopting her
-got everyone to help him w clearing part 1 so he could clear shinjuku to unlock lobos true name. probably went to shinjuku himself and took pictures in the places from the story
-also has like all the decapitated servants for some reason. like shuten, shiro, blackbeard, george, marie, medusa, ect. theyre all varying degrees of ok with this shared trait and no one really brings it up so its just rlly awkward every time theyre all chilling together. but then senpai shows up and is like “whos ready to rock!” and the mood is lifted
hans
-like senpai hes got a servant maxed out n stuff, its diar of course. tho hes not quite as far along but hes pouring all his resources into it
-is actually like really damn good at strategy in the game. but always makes stupid ass decisions bc of silly reasons. like hes planned out this whole strategy but then diars voice is too good on his command cards and he hecks everything up. or like. forgets his phone or something. hes trying his best.
-actually really liked camelot, he sympathizes a lot to lion king arthuria. and as expected she actually came home to him
-his main team is his rare ass diar, lancer arthuria, and lobo senpai bc even other universe senpai gotta be supportive of this disaster boy
loidzart
-of course he has sacchan and himself, he prolly spoils them and swaps them out, especially himself, just to look cool
-astolfos another of his faves tho, he likes his style, but like me wishes he had the death tuba in one of his attacks.
-also really appreciates a lotta the nice tiddy in the game, especially that its not just the super super rare servants. but like. actually reads up on the lore too. he knows those servants like the back of his hand and will protect them all
