harry potter is so funny honestly bc ultimately yes it’s just a fairly run of the mill middle grade mystery fantasy series but the thing that really sets it apart isn’t the magic, it’s that it’s a series starring only jocks.

like there was a whole house for the smart kids and not a single one of the main characters was in it. blows my mind that there’s a whole bit in one of the books where harry is gifted a mysterious potentially dangerous enchanted broom while there is a suspected murderer who is thought to be actively trying to assassinate him and when hermione is like idk maybe don’t just immediately use the potentially cursed mystery gift he low key goes ballistic on her bc he cares more about getting to play with cool sports gear more than he cares about, like, being alive. and the book fully supports him in that!! the narration is like, isn’t hermione so crazy for that. she should’ve just let him play with his new sports stuff. how dare she imply that this mysterious object that was given to him from an unknown sender might be tied to the larger plot against harry’s life despite the fact that that’s the main conflict we’re dealing with rn.

idk it’s just so funny to me that hp got such traction with nerds when the entire series is actually just about exploring the question “what if the meathead star athlete of your high school tried to solve mysteries. and also there was magic.”

Berlin (Netflix) - episode 2

Back at the scene of the crime/hotel, Berlin accosts Camille in the middle of the street, opening with a winner of a line, "I just got divorced." The woman needs to read The Gift Of Fear (as does anyone).

Anyway, Berlin rambles on while Camille is stuck in movie cliche land and has to change her outfit in the back of a cab and with another passenger there. She does an amazing job though, so you go, Camille!

Special mention to his disagreeing with the woman calling him a misogynist because what would a woman know right?

Roi and Cameron teaming up to do something that they're going to fuck up so badly, and with such far-reaching consequences down the line that you start to wonder about the fate of the heist itself (it *is* a heist series after all). 

Berlin "rocks out" with his peers and it is good.

This man obsessed with bowties - is this a callback? 

Camille tells him "you look like a man who lives in hotels" like it's not an insult??

(side-note - the Opera swicheroo is reminiscent of the Planetarium bit in my latest fic - love that)

Aaaand after hijinx and small-scale mayhem, the Rio-Cameron team failed, which I love to see  <3

Keyla designing this whole VR tech - told ya this girl's a Deus Ex Machina but in a hot (imo) and horny body - in the mid 2010s and instead of, idk, selling it for a whole bunch of money and not doing criminal things?

And I may not get how VR works but isn't her avatar just... milling about in that VR space? It felt like Roi could have interacted with her avatar if he wasn't stopped but how does that-- unless that's not her avatar and Keyla has a VR girlfriend that she gets freaky with when she's in hotels?

Okay so I took this note while watching the episode: "The only common sense thing that came out of this man's mouth" and I can't, for the life of me, identify what I was referring to on the rewatch - if anyone knows what common sense thing left that man's lips, please let me know!

Back in the land of Berlin and the woman he fell in love with via the medium of stalking, drama happens (who knew that she was even married?? They did; both of them knew) there's drama.

And then Berlin gets hit with his own version of "time will bring us back together one day". HOW DOES IT FEEL, HUH?? HOW??

And in her own corner, Keyla is following the old cliche of "nerd ingenue hot for the ~Bad Boy/himbo" and you know what? Shine on, you horny diamond!

Wait, she's 36???????????????????????? (Presumably older than Berlin is in this? Lol okay) Love that she sees the age gap as a problem, Bruce IS a baby at 24. 

Oh and since it's a heist movie, they set the scene for the heist, they're professional and successful which contrasts greatly with how they handle literally everything else (which they thoroughly fuck up).

Never Have I Ever: Specific Service Job AU (Flower shop/Tattoo artist/Coffee Shop/Etc.; you get the Vibes)

I have not written one of these, and if I ever do there’s like. 3 combinations that I think would be funny lol.

1. Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth Coffee Shop AU but it’s one giant crackfic. A murder occurs at the coffee shop Phoenix is working at to pay his way through art school, and he has to help Edgeworth solve the murder in a single weekend because his boss entrusted him with the shop while he was out of town and he really needs this job. Despite there being a literal murder, it’s more of just a hallmark-style rom-com with as many tropes as I can cram into it because I think it’d be funny. Also Phoenix’s boss is played up as this super menacing and cruel person and then he turns up at the end and it’s just Larry

2. Life Series Scott/Jimmy Flower Shop/Soulmate AU. The Soulmate is largely there because the way I write flower husbands is as an inevitable thing that happens in every universe, other than that it’s a pretty run-of-the-mill flower shop AU where Scott runs “The Hobbit Hole”, a little hole-in-the-wall flower shop frequented by Jimmy

3. Jonathan Sims/Martin Blackwood Librarian AU. Martin is a librarian, Jon is a huge nerd who comes to the library on a regular basis, and it’s a sweet little 5+1 fic of all the times Martin saw Jon, and one time Jon saw Martin

Of all of these I’d say the Flower Husbands and Jmart ones are the most likely to actually get written, on account of being one-shots or at least relatively short fics in comparison to the Narumitsu one

A couple of weeks ago I asked about people’s favorite book or books they read this year. Between Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and discord, I have a list of 123 books in no particular order that my friends and family loved this year. If it was a series then I listed the first book. Each star is an additional recommendation. I haven’t read all of these, they may or may not reflect my personal opinions, though my favorite books are on the list too. In your pinned post, I'm curious to know what's going on with the bat dragon person and who might be you holding your cat? Poking around the blog hasn't gotten me answers. Or maybe answers are there and I'm just hungry and tired.

I had this whole thing written with pics on my phone, and then the wifi flaked and the whole things became lost into tumblr's void when I hit post, so this is the 2nd version. ;-; But this version has more images so it's objectively better.

That's not me in the image. That's Lily Mills, the main character of one of my original comics I post on Tapas and Webtoons Canvas. Pine Barrens Super Natural is based on the legends I grew up hearing from my family about the New Jersey Pine Barrens/Pinelands, and shojo romance comics. Lily is a mix of me and my sibling from when we were young -that's why she looks like me (and Lyly if you know what they look like from MtW.)

The series blurb & summary of Ch 1&2: Lily Mills and her dad, Don Mills, have just moved into the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. On their first night there, Lily is attacked by monsters that should only exist in legends. Luckily, another super natural monster also rescues her. There's definitely some connection to the super natural hidden in Lily's past, and it's going to a lot harder for it to stay hidden now that she finds herself surrounded by all sorts of Super Natural things.

This comic is actually a reboot of the original comic I started when I was 15-16 in my Sophomore year of Highschool. (It was made on notebook paper.) When I started it I didn't really have a plan for where it was going until around chapters 15-20, so this reboot is taking a lot of loose ends and either cutting them out or adapting them to work with the plot. It's taking me so long to make because I'm struggling with burnout, and I'm now past most of the mental issues I was using it to process so sometimes working on it puts be make into that worst head space. With Lyly's help as my editor we have rewritten and redesigned the parts that cause me problems so once I get back into it, I should be fine.

The little kitty thing is Mascot. He normally appears at the bottom chapters with the credits, in the cover images, and sometimes pops up in chapters with author's notes and comments.

((If anyone wants to head canon any of my characters as neurotypical just know that it is head canon and not supported by anything in the plot -or me))

Below this point are more character descriptions, but just know that most involve spoilers for things that happen after Ch2. I didn't spoil the biggest things just a few things that lead up to them.

The devil catboy is Damian Leeds the son of the Jersey Devil (TJ) and a human (Nancy). I grew up hearing many different stories about the Jersey Devil with many different depictions so this version is a polymorph, and so is his son. Damian is able to change between human, Neko Mimi, and full furry forms. Lily does not know that the Kitty Devil that saved her is Damian. Damian gets a massive crush on Lily. He's very emotionally secure which makes him a great support as a friend, but he also struggle with recognizing that others won't respond to stress the same way he does.

Nancy Leeds works at the local Super Natural Animal Wildlife Reserve. She is also Don's new boss. SN stuff is kept secret from the populace.

Even though Lily and Damian are the central 2 characters, the readers have pretty unanimously voted Erik as the fan favorite. They are a mix of many of the friends I had growing up. She is nonbinary and uses all pronouns. He is a huge nerd, lover of chaos and cringe. When not in the school building, Erik wears a beanie their brother made them that reads "I ♥️ Emo Boys." She's the heart of the group without question.

Alex is Erik's older brother. He is a huge anxiety gay, and introvert. He prefers letting others take center stage while he watches. This does mean he's prone to bottle things up. Luckily he's the type to go to his friends for help after isolating to process. He hasn't had many appearances yet, but what has been revealed is that he really likes fashion and sewing. He has also been weirdly touchy with Lily and even he doesn't know why. The most recent chapter and the next few will have him as a focus.

(Alex and Erik are half Italian, half Columbian American. This hasn't had an opportunity to be brought up in the story yet. I had a bunch friends that were Columbian. Their extended family and specifically their grandparents were very like my Italian grandparents. So I made these two a mix of those just like they are mixes of many friends I had growing up. Even though I've had these characters for half of my life, I have never been able to decide on a last name for them.)

The last of the friend group is Mike Sasha Keith Apple Gate. In the OG version I made in Highschool, I had 3 characters that all played the same role at different times throughout the story so I mixed them into 1 person and introduced him in the plot much sooner. He too hot to remain single and keeps ending up in unwanted romantic relationships. MSK has anger management problems while also completely failing at defending his own boundaries. He has a grudge against Damian and the why hasn't been revealed yet. He's author's favorite and you can tell because of how much effort I put into his outfits and hair. Lastly, it has been revealed that MSK can see Super Natural Energy. It is through his eyes that it's also revealed that Alex's behavior around Lily is cause by an energy around her.

Hi! I’m not sure if you’ve been asked this before but, what are your top 5 BL’s that you watched this year?

Hiya anon! No I don't think I have made a post about it yet.

I started watching BLs mostly in 2022 so all of them I have watched are this year. If I pick my top 5 it will turn into my top 5 ever. Instead I'll stick to BLs released this year, so it's kind of closer to your question.

My criteria is 1. Good acting 2. Rewatch value 3. Story/script

So here it is

1. Old fashioned cupcake: This takes the top spot unquestionably. I like simple stories made impactful by good acting and some solid direction. Special mention to how day to day routines are used to further the narrative. The dessert dates, Togawas undeniable attraction towards Nozue San, Nozue San being aware but denying himself the worth he is. It's all so well done in just short 6 episodes. It also ticks all my favourite tropes age gap, height difference, mature characters, younger one being the pursuer, running for your love and food as love language. I couldn't think of even one thing which I disliked in this show. Overall just outstanding little series.

2. Triage: This show was such a sweet surprise. Other than gay romances what I like is good suspense and this show delivered on this. It was intriguing and kept me guessing. The script was tight without any loopholes. All the actors were amazing, the whole medical setup was believable. Its handling felt similar to MOD( I think author is same for both novels) but it was way way better than MOD on the suspense side and also quite believable. All the stories going in parallel and how they interwined was well done. Despite its genre believe me it's absolutely re-watchable.

3. Semantic Error: Super production values. It's such a treat to watch. It's also so close to the Yaoi way of telling stories. Grumpy computer science nerd pursued by a super loud, carefree campus artist hottie. Classic enemies to lovers. How they fall for each other is worth the watch. I also loved how they included neuro divergent aspects of Sang woo's life and due to which how he approaches love or intimacy. This kind of depiction is quite rare in mainstream media let alone in BLs. I can't explain to you in so many technical terms but when I say, each scene is very carefully choreographed, its not an exaggeration at all. It really is good with its camera angles. On top of that, good acting and direction have a made simple run of the mill BL story outstanding and so so likeable.

4. Kinn Porsche: This should be no surprise if you follow me. But this is way down the list because though it is the series which pushed me in the BL world, the story had many many loopholes. Also I was not a fan of their comedic bits. In some cases the mafia set up didn't look believable but KP hands down takes all the points in the acting department. Also the VP storyline is something I have rewatched so many times, I have lost the count now. This would have been outstanding if they would have really gone for the jugular and kept it mafia throughout without trying to achieve the mid between romance and mafia. I immensely enjoyed watching it while it was airing. I was super into the story all throughout till the last episode, where it kind of fell flat for me on the story department. But nonetheless it's still one of few favourites to rewatch for so many reasons.

5. Secret crush on you (SCOY) : I love this show solely based on what it stands for. Traditionally BLs and Yaois have super masculine characters and their stories whereas the more femme or less aggressive characters are on the side or used for comedic bits. Which is not realistic is it? This BL showed us that these side characters deserve to be the main characters in their own stories revolving around their worlds. And it delivered, big time. At times it does get too sugary or candy flossy(even the uniform was so outrageous 😂) but Toh/Jao/Daisy and their insecurities/issues are so so relatable. Their little friendship group is best. And their boyfriends too. Nobody can change my mind about Sky and InTouch are the best boyfriends from all of the Thai BLs ever. Though it's too cringy at times but never because of the cast or their acting. They all did such a splendid job on this super out proud and loud show. It definitely deserves at least one watch by everyone. Literally, keep your minds open and watch it, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Special mention to Between us, because when that ends it's gonna be one of my favourites too.

They raise a child together and that's enough for me

The two of them together are so perfect, Dong Hua is the typical serious character who doesn't see the fun in anything anymore but with Bai Feng Jiu his world gets more color.

Also, I love a tragic story with a happy ending.

Friends/rivals who are totally in love but don't get together now because they're clueless idiots, I love Shipps like that! And these two are the greatest example of this trope.

Wednesday 4/8/22 - Media Recommendations #37

At the start of 2020, my friends and I set aside a day a week to get together and play Dungeons and Dragons. While the four I played with had some experience in D&D, I had never played before, after playing together for 2 years now, I think it's an experience all nerds should take part in.

And since I have grown a light obsession with D&D over the last couple years, I have been lightly keeping up with the latest season of a podcast called Critical Role, and it has only fueled my obsession further. So today let me tell you what Critical Role is all about.

Critical Role

Just like any other at-home D&D group, Critical Role started out as a group of friends playing a table top RPG. But one day, they decided to upload a recording of their sessions to Twitch, and changed the internet's perception of Dungeons and Dragons.

Keeping up with Critical Role has been a fairly unique experience for me. I do indulge in Podcasts quite often these days, but Critical Role is different to your run of the mill podcast, because there's an overarching plot and narrative.

Unlike my usual recommendations, I can't really give a plot synopsis, since each campaign is hundreds of hours and any major plot detail is a spoiler. But I CAN say that each adventure is a unique and gripping plot that has you keen to listen to the next episode.

Critical Role explores the original world of Exandria, a fantasy realm of numerous cultures and deep worldbuilding. Each of the three campaign spans different continents across the world, and explore issues of rotten monsters, corrupt organisations, and the meddling of deities beyond their realm. The system is based in Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, and despite how perfectly the plot seems to go sometimes, every session is spontaneous, and largely unplanned by the players.

The DM Matthew Mercer has collaborated with dozens of other creators to craft a huge world, and there are several 5th Edition source books they have built from this world. Matt also works with his players to craft engaging backstories that have the others at the table, and those watching from home, on the edge of the seats.

I must also commend the players, Sam Reigel, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Liam O'Bbrien, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, and Taliesin Jaffe on their amazing voice acting and improv skills to make these beautifully enthralling characters with multi faceted personalities and lore.

Despite the concept being a bunch of white nerds doing a very white thing, the world, and community of Critical Role is a bastion of diversity and representation of various cultures, gender and sexual identities, and mental and physical challenges. Both the main cast and guest stars explore a variety of complex issues including PTSD, abuse, body dysphoria, substance dependency, broken homes, and broken souls. And that's just the stuff from campaign 2!

Finally, I will lay out the actual structure of how one would go about experiencing Critical Role.

At the time of writing, there are 3 campaigns of Critical Role. Each story can be viewed without prior experience, but faithful viewers will get a kick out of Easter eggs and callbacks to earlier parts. Each episode is usually around 4 hours along, with a half hour break somewhere in the middle.

Campaign One, also known as Vox Machina, is 115 episodes, plus spin-off episodes released later. This series was their first to be broadcasted, and I've been told the production value at the start is not amazing, but it improves. Campaign Two, The Mighty Nein, is 141 episodes. They really hit their stride with this season, and despite the end of the campaign running into the start of the Covid 19 pandemic, it never lost its spark. Campaign Three, Bell's Hells is still ongoing, and at the time of writing, up to episode 28.

I personally have only just finished watching Campaign 2, and am up to date on Campaign 3. I have not watched Campaign 1, but if you are looking for content on that adventure, there is a series on Amazon Prime called the Legend of Vox Machina (reccomended earlier) that chronicles part of that campaign. You can watch the Campaigns in any order, but my personal advice is try to catch up on Campaign 3 at least sooner rather than later, since it is the easiest to catch up on.

hey guys nerd moment about the title of the fic (this is long im sorry)

mood indigo was actually a jazz song released in the 1930’s by duke ellington, barney bigard with lyrics by irving mills, except bigard said that its real credit is derived from his clarinet teacher, Lorenzo Tio’s, melodies. so that clarinet part like biagrd’s solo? yea that was Lorenzo tio’s melodies that weren’t full developed and when bigard did finish them and show them so ellington, he liked it and it was included. and like its almost impossible to tell where ellington’s collaborators part begin bcs apparently he’s js that good at blending that stuff idk (dont take that last part as a fact thats purely from what i remember.) anyways, mood indigo is about a little boy and little girl who are eight. girl loves boy and while they never acknowledge the feelings, the girl waits at her window bcs the boy visits her. and the song basically describes the feeling the girl had when the boy didnt visit her. so you may be asking, duct why would u choose something like that as a title for a book about the slump in london 1930s and about criminal organizations? well, dear anon, here u r:

1. literal (?) meaning; im gonna be so honest with you i purely got this idea from brendan and neksa / jess and morgan. i couldnt stop thinking about that wonderful art i found of brendan and neksa it was of neksa as a raven or crow i dont rmb but point is that its gorgeous and stunning i love it. the idea that brendan denies his feelings of love for her purely because he half doesn’t want to acknowledge that he’s become so attached to a person in such an intimate way and half because he just cant risk his father (or anyone) finding out that he’s gone and practically betrayed his dad’s whole like symbolism in tje trading world (remember they don’t like the library. yk how contradicting it would be to have one of the biggest illegal book trader’s son dating someone from the library, especially someone who works in like the same facility as the archivist? yea its damnable like no ones gonna trust ca. brightwells or his business anymore.) anyways the literal meaning: girl is sad bcs boy didn’t visit/come back to her. brendan literally left neksa (the woman he was oh so deeply in love with) because he didn’t want to hurt her and played it off as the fact that he didn’t love her. and when jess comes back as brendan (lmaoo) i feel like you can imagine the smallest sliver of hope she had that they can be something again but its practically disappeared next to the pure anger and grief in her heart. and when neksa dies, brendan can’t visit her anymore. its literally not possible. (until he died then maybe they could be happy tgt). this is so many words words words guys i promise im not actually this much of a nerd on a daily basis this is just interesting to me. anyways, once again, girl is sad bcs boy didn’t visit her one day. umm we can go back and look into jess’ past: boy is eternally sad bcs his brother died. aka: boy is sad bcs his brother can’t visit him. like ever. sad sad sad moments💔💔

2. this is like an actual stretch but um i consider it okay so basically girl being sad is jess boy who didnt visit (or wont anymore) is a semblance of love or sanctuary. throughout the series its obvious that jess just doesn’t trust his family. im pretty sure he even says it like he does not trust them. but hey, maybe he did once. maybe he did when he was a little boy who had an older brother who he could rely on—one that taught him how to walk and that taught him the basics. someone who he could go to for advice and who could help him keep his head above water. now we don’t have a characterization, but i’m going off of @thegreatlibraryfangirl’s advice and kinda semi-making my own..so um sorry if u dont like that guys..but anyways i feel like the moment jess starts to really rely and trust the other’s is the moment that melancholy feeling, that mood indigo, goes away. it doesnt go away completely, theres always gonna be a solid chunk never satisfied but thats okay because he has people he can trust with his life that will help him get through it. not only this but the bond that jess and dario (will) share in this au represents that. they’re both young—maybe 13 max but they both lack one thing that only they can give esch other; sanctuary.

my (actual) scherzo of the deep night thoughts!! spoilers for the movie, obviously.

okay first of all asuna and argo in this movie were so pure, i love their friendship so much and i’m glad it’s finally being animated. i loved their duel sm, and i LOVED the bit at the start with the three of them eating together - kirito, start bolting the doors so people stop leaving without paying for their food xD

maybe argo and kibaou are the reasons kazuto makes kikuoka buy him expensive food… #canon

the kirisuna!! the scene where she tells him to take a knee??? i was trying not to squeal in the theatre. my grandma actually whispered to me “are they gonna kiss” and i wish i could’ve said yes </3

kirito’s speech about not wanting to be a hero and just wanting to keep himself and his friends safe, and then asuna praising him and thanking him and appreciating him… it was so sweet. i’m not gonna lie, i half expected her to say “well you’re my hero” or something along those lines but i really loved and appreciated what she did say.

and the way neither of them corrected poh when he called asuna kirito’s girlfriend…

and poh oh my GOD!!!!!! the whole theatre gasped (there were like 11 of us okay?) and one guy yelled “OH SHIT IT’S THE POH GUY” which… i don’t know who you are but please know you make me snort my water out of my nose xD seeing these early origin stories for laughing coffin was so cool, i loved it.

agil was so hot in this movie like my first post when i got out of the theatre was literally “i would let agil do anything to me” and i stand by that. he looked so good. i know there is already a mrs mills but like… hello…

mito!! i’ll be honest, i was apprehensive about her going in because i didn’t like how they changed the story to work her into it, but i do like her as an individual character (if that makes sense) so… i actually liked her role in this movie. it felt like a good closure for her and asuna’s relationship to this point. i predicted shortly after the first movie that i thought their relationship would come to friendly acquaintances who nod and say hi in the halls, maybe stop to chat, but don’t really act as besties anymore, and that seems to be the conclusion the films reached.

i’m kinda sad we didn’t get a villain arc for mito though because it would have been sooooo good.

i see people say they aren’t making more progressive movies after this and i’m kinda sad to say i agree. but!! this is wishful thinking, i am aware, i’m holding out for an anime adaption as an actual series, maybe one there’s more out? i think that would be nice.

i enjoyed it overall!! the fight scenes were cool, the characters were good, the soundtrack kept reminding me of legend of zelda so my nerd heart was happy lol. it was good!!

I'm a little man, I never have a coherent style and pick up on styles as well as have a large code-switching / parroting problem. One thing that has stayed the same is my love for nature and pretty things. I looove flowers, funny looking rocks, stuffed animals, and my favorite color is pastel purple. Despite this, I spend most of my time watching true crime docs, analog horror series, playing fps and listening to different genres of alt music.

I have a fear of things under microscopes and movie gore while being fully capable of watching real gore vids. I also hate loud noises and the color neon orange makes me upset.

Anyway I would have to say Doc hates you. But the beanpole catches hands like the Major fits in a smartcar: not very well.

You totally hang out with Alhammybra (and yes, I'm going to have to use that from now on) and Schrodinger gravitates towards you. So of the Mill friend group that meets up for weekly horror movie/series nights, you manage to both gather the people he avoids (that Montana loves) and grate on his nerves all by yourself. Honestly he ignores you when you first join the friend group, but after the first few months when you manage to bring in a bit of cheer and fuel some of Schrodinger's antics, he starts to get annoyed.

So naturally instead of being a mature man and sitting there, biting his fingers and just ignoring it, he starts to try and get under your skin. Many attempts later he figures out microbiology talks from the lab he works in will do the trick, but then he gets mocked for being a nerd. And much to Montana's rapturous joy, Hans totally helps you break out some old school bullying techniques and y'all get into all sorts of stuff short of giving him a swirlie. Rumor has it (and this is from Schro) that Doc, who is Hans' and Montana's roommate, stole some of the big guy's favorite raunchy manga.

So in the end Doc does catch your hands, but not very well.

i finally got around to watching the fifth video in the be series and EEK i'm not even like a huge ooo fan but this one got me invested oh yikes my tinnitus just got like mad worse in one ear what was that ok it's better now. anyways first of all NINE IS SO CUTE? mill's nerd artsy boy character that gets picked on doesn't really match the upbeat rappy song that was kind of funny. this was probably my favorite one. maybe not music wise although it has its merits but the mv?! the plot the drama....... i love yaoi

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day.

Yesterday was very difficult but immensely satisfying. I didn’t sleep well on Sunday night so, throughout the day, I was lacking in energy and, at times, virtually drowsy, but I pushed through and achieved all my tasks. I didn’t really feel like doing much of anything, but I stayed focused. You know what’s it like; sometimes the inspiration just ain’t there. So, bravo me! As they say, another day, another dollar.

This Saturday, I’m going to a pub on Tottenham High Road to get involved in some jubilee celebrations organised by a very special woman. I don’t talk about her very often but, today, I’m going to. This woman has asked me to play a six-hour set from 7.00 until 1.00. I’ve never played for six hours before but, because she asked me and because I love her, I have agreed. I’m not sure I would play six hours for just anyone. I already have a playlist of very long songs; in case I need to powder my nose! So, let me tell you about The Temptress Of Tottenham, Theresa ‘Tee’ Mills. I appreciate her greatly because she’s always been a supporter of my work. She’s bought all my books, read all my books, reviewed all my books and, for that, I am very grateful. ‘The Crap Husband’s Guide To A Successful Marriage’ actually played a role in her relationship! She says, once Devon had read it and digested it, his attitude completely changed! Theresa is all about local community and, as it’s a jubilee celebration, she’s asked me to devote time to British black music and, as that’s one of my specialist subjects, I have a special playlist for that too! Despite her being a Spurs fan, I love her very much, so I’m looking forward to helping her with her day and, if you’re anyone near The Bricklayers Arms (803 High Road, Tottenham) on Saturday, stick your head in!

The Trouble and I were watching the episode of The Big Bang Theory where Howard and Bernadette get married. Naturally, a funny, romantic and quite emotional moment. The reason that show was so successful was, yes, they were a bunch of weird nerds, but it was also a series of love stories. That episode brought a tear to The Trouble’s eye as she remembered our wedding day, memorable for so many reasons. The reason it makes her cry is because so many people at that wedding are no longer with us and, for you, maybe it’s the same? In the years since your wedding, how many friends and relatives have now passed? Scary! We try not to dwell on it; we want our wedding to be a good memory.

If you wonder why Johnson is still in a job, he’s re-written the rules. That’s right, folks, laws and rules are not handed down by God or some omnipotent being, laws and rules are created (amended and re-written) by ordinary mortals like us. Everything Adolf Hitler did was completely legal. The Nazi Party re-wrote the book. They were abiding by the laws they had created. Johnson is not wise; he just has the authority to do what he wants. Lawmakers are not great minds; they are just in control. Be careful who you give control to; they may end-up controlling you!
