Tumblr media
Mother Snake of the Monkie Kid AU
Name: Payton Scales
Myth Name: Mûqīn Shé (Mother Snake)
Species: Snake Demon
Info:
Payton was born as a Snake Demon long ago, but unlike any other demons, Payton was actually a nice demon who acts like an actual mother towards children and very friendly with the mortals. The mortals including the children loved the snake demon and welcomed her with warm arms.
But there is one thing you shouldn't do; Never Anger The Snake Demon
She may not look threatening but she is something you shouldn't mess with this demon, many demons feared her due to her poisonous venom and her mysterious ways to finish them off for unknown theories.
After her journeys and traveling days have ended she went back to her home, never to be seen again.
500 years later in a middle of the night, a heartless couple was carrying a crying baby in the middle of the woods, the couple never wanted to have a child since it would be troublesome for the both of them and decided they would leave the baby to die in the forest.
But because of their greediness, they run into the Snake Demon and was furious upon finding out they would get rid of the newborn baby, she took the child away from them and decided to get rid of the couple because of giving up their child so soon.
They begged for mercy, but the snake demon ignored them, thus killing them right on the spot. She took the child in as her own, thus leaving the part of the forest with the baby in her arms.
10 years later, Payton's son, Qi Xiaotian, grew up into a cheerful and lively young man, which made the snake demon happy. Thus, letting her son go to Megalopolis City and start his own life there. Info dump about your newest Genshin Impact OC. Also, do you have any Honkai Star Rail OCs?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shé Xì Móshòu: A Snake Adeptus with the Adeptus Title (ex. Mountain Shaper, Cloud Retainer, Moon Carver) of Field Stalker. Her name is literally Chinese (Traditional) for "Snake Magical Beast" (might not actually be accurate, I used Google Translate lmao). Her and Maxis (a robot originating from the My Hero Academia universe that works for Maledarvo) mutually love each other romantically, but Maledarvo (the Demon Prince) hates Shé. Shé is capable of appearing fully human, half human (upper half) half snake (lower half), or full snake.

New OCs Reveal ?!
Introducing...
Tumblr media
Hēi Yin (黑隐)
She's a Huli Jing who takes a form of a young, attractive woman. Behind her charming and attractive face, she is mischievous and finds pleasure in making men in relationships/married men fall for her charm and watching their partner break their hearts. She's naturally seductive and can easily make people fall for her beauty. She look 28 yrs old, but she's more or less 400 years old.
Xuè Shé (血蛇)
A dangerous serpent who hunts for human blood. He rarely shows himself to the village as he lives in his own cave. Though, once in a while, he goes out and hunts for human and drink their blood. Thanks to his snake-features, he's able to move fast and can easily capture his prey. He's around 700 years old.
Fun Facts About Them!
(About Hei Yin)
In the modern time, she's a social media influencer and does vlogs to earn.
Her nickname is "Yin-Yin".
She's got her own fandom, though most of them are male. She's often bashed by other women who's male partner she had deceived.
Sometimes, she accepts special service and pleases single men, only for the money though.
She's couldn't care less about who's her partner, she's pretty much pansexual.
She's also the woman who Syaoran had cheated on from Jiao Yue :)
Syaoran gave her a special necklace.
Back in the old times, she was pretty close with Spider Queen and Scorpio Demon. But they all had a quarrel when they fought who would ate The Great Monk. None of them succeeded though.
She's secretly narcissistic.
(About Xue She)
He doesn't have a name. But people from the village called him "Blood Snake" Demon, so that's where he got the name Xuè Shé(血蛇) from.
He had 2 female serpent sisters, but both of them died due to people hunting them down.
He became a vengeful being and started to hunt people down who dares to enter his cave.
He owns a couple of artifacts that were owned by his victims.
He can turn into a human, but he doesn't like walking with two legs. So he pretty much prefers being in his snake form so he could move fast.
He once encountered Syaoran when Syaoran was taking artifacts from other demons. Eventually Syaoran had the upper hand and got the necklace of Xue She's dead sister.
He hates Syaoran. Really hate.
Hei Yin's necklace is actually the same necklace that was from his dead sister.
Can barely speak the human language. (He tries to learn it though when he secretly sneaks into the village)
Some OC x OC/Canon Ships?
Hei Yin x Syaoran = WinterFox
Hei Yin x Sun Wukong = GoldenFox
(Hei Yin doesn't really love either of them, she had just probably made them fall for her charm to take advantage of them. But yeh, I guess there's that.)
Honestly, I'm debating whether to give Xue She a ship but for now, I guess he remains single 😇.

Another year, another rec list with some of the best xuexiao I've read these last 12 months!! >w<
And like last year's rec list, this isn't either exhaustive or limited to fics posted in 2023. It's just the things I have found, which I liked, and want to spread the love about ^-^
Here's, in no particular order, my favourite xuexiao (and occasional songxuexiao) fics. Also, take a look down below for other mxtx or danmei pairings!
You're mine by twilightshards. This is a phenomenal oneshot where Xue Yang does not wait patiently to take revenge on Baixue temple, but rather follows the annoying daoshi out of Jinlintai as soon as he gets off the hook. He catches up with them a couple of nights later, only to find Xiao Xingchen in a... compromised position. While moaning Xue Yang's name.
The tamed by @fieri-sentio-et-excrucior. Last year I recommended the wonderful The Prisoner of Jinlintai fic, and now we got a sequel to that!!! Exciting stuff, very exciting... Xiao Xingchen saves Xue Yang from his botched execution and Song Lan is there raging at what he thinks is a psycho taking full advantage of his friend's kindness. Absolutely loved it!
蛇 - shé by shoujorei. A spectacular oviposition fic with blind snake hybrid Xiao Xingchen and enemy-posing-as-housemate Xue Yang, who really didn't know what he was volunteering for when he offered to "help" daozhang with his next heat. An absolute delight!
good lies go bad by istilfearkanna One of the Yi City what-if's I like so much, showing what would happen if Song Lan is successful in killing Xue Yang and, as per canon, vows not to tell his friend anything. So naturally you have Xiao Xingchen happy about his rekindled friendship, but also deeply worried about his missing friend... breaks my heart every time T-T (thx lionfish13 for the rec!!!)
Down in the black sea by @10holmes. A mermaid AU which has to be the sweetest Xue Yang /Xiao Xingchen tale I've seen in a while, with xxc being a revered merman saving the life of a handsome pirate... without realizing that is the infamous Xue Yang, mermaid hunter and slayer of plenty of his kinsmen!! But of course, they fall in love. It's downright adorable (and deliciously angst-inducing!) Also, the worldbuilding in this one is marvelous!
promises, promises by an anonymous author. Time travel fic!!! This one follows Song Lan trying to right the wrongs of his life in the easiest way possible: that is, to eliminate Xue Yang before he has the chance to hurt anyone else. Except... he gets distracted saving the life of a poor child with a mangled left hand. Still ongoing, and XXC isn't in the picture yet, but the new chapters are highly anticipated and the writing style is so, so, so good.
the non-con opition by the same anonymous author. How do I know? None of your business!! But the awesome writing style continues here, as well as the song lan/xue yang being brought together by fate is just as awesome. It promises to be songxuexiao eventually, for now it's a delightful soulmates/omegaverse with alpha!Song Lan in rut nonconning the hell out of a mysterious omega with a foul mouth.
Sant Xingchen i el drac by @ergbolli45 A little sweet adorable spin of a traditional legend very dear to my heart. It's winter, the Yi City crew are bored around their campfire, and A-Qing wants a story. So, Xue Yang offers to tell a tale from some exotic land on the west about a little princess, a brave knight and a fearsome dragon.
sticking their dick in crazy by Sectionladvivi. I'm not generally one for modern AUs, but this one is such a stupid and shameless pwp that it skyrocketed through my rankings XD SongXueXiao, and oddly enough, the crazy one alluded in the title isn't Xue Yang!! Delicious and filthy. No thoughts, just horn.
Priceless by @fieri-sentio-et-excrucior. Another modern AU!! but how can I resist, when this is Xue Yang breaking and entering happily married songxiao's domicile, who were getting ready for a very sexy night... and end up, Song Lan tied up and forced to watch the criminal fuck Xiao Xingchen senseless (and unaware it's not his husband the one in bed with him!). Evil and sexy, another wonderful fic by such a wonderful author <3
hands, reaching out by @neriine. A retelling of Yi City but with mutation-like special powers, making it especially interesting when it comes to xuexiao's backstory (song lan is also there, in the background) and the night hunts. It's sweet, sweet, Xue Yang as always a murder gremlin who thinks he has it all under control when the first thing that he doesn't know half-way about is his own feelings... Very well-written, and creative in its worldbuilding!
Tumblr media
THIS lovely picture is not from a fic (well, not yet, unless I manage to do something cute with it >w<) but serves as an example of all the wonderful pic manips @wangxianswuji has made, which maybe it's cheating a bit for a fanfic rec post, but. They're just so good. Go check their profile and drool with me ^-^
and speaking of art, I can't not mention @wrathyforest's art done for the fic Now that I see you, particularly one of my favourite moments with Xiao Xingchen defending Xue Yang from an undesirable... this fic was in last year's rec list, and very deservingly so!
Tumblr media
ANd now for the other ships!
Love of my life, don't hurt me by @foreheadkissesforzewu-jun This is a delightful and spectacularly cruel tale of unrequired love by a gallant cultivator spiriting his soulmate away. At least, that's what Wen Zhuliu sees it, when in fact this fic is him kidnapping and brutally assaulting Lan Xichen, while following the events of the Wen war and the sunshot campaign. Loved it, but PLEASE read the tags.
Jade pillar, bending like reed by awkwardrecline. dark jades (and dark!Lan Xichen in particular) are so so sooo very dear to my heart... this fic has it all, a tyrannical Lan clan leader who will abuse his power left right and center, a jealous didi who wants nothing but possessive love, so much smut everywhere... Cloud Recesses is never as sexy as when the jades are so unrestrained, I love it! ^-^
My future mommy's mistake by tenwudzvrs. Is this fic pretty much what many people consider nono kinks? mpreg, noncon, xue yang being an utter dick? and do I love it precisely because of it? XD pregnant Wei Wuxian goes home one evening but comes across a ruffian in a back alley, who does everything to him up to and including speaking with his husband through the phone while nailing him to the wall. Lan Zhan isn't happy. I am delighted.
What brother needs, brother gets by @foreheadkissesforzewu-jun. a modern AU jadecest pwp which... to be honest, it's pure oral fixation Lan Xichen going to his didi after he got dumped by some idiot and Lan Wangji doing the best he can to comfort him. It's ridiculously shameless and incredibly enjoyable, just to see these two come to the conclusion that the best course of action is to fuck each other!! XD Wei Ying will find a surprise when he gets back home from his travels and finds his husband has collected another husband...
furious love by @alipeeps. From Till the end of the moon, a very nasty and wonderfully in-canon insight on the disastrous marriage between Ye Xiwu (the original) and Tantai Jin. Let's just say she decides to take her marital rights to the extreme, and using the very same lust potion that originally landed her in that marriage to begin with! Tantai Jin is one of those characters that truly suffer beautifully, and suffer he does here!
a fire, made high and wild by @judiwench. A fic for Sleuth of Ming Dynasty, which is a series that wormed its way into my soul. Sui Zhou desperately searches Tang Fan (him, please, him, not his corpse) only to find him... less than good. I was seriously debating between this one and is the festering that kills a man by the same author, but... Agh, they are both amazing snippets at their obvious mutual love, and the trauma that brings it to light. Highly recommend the series and these fics!
a long sleepless night by @dying-redshirt-noises. This one is from Mysterious Lotus Casebook, a wonderful three-way pwp in the Girls' Mansion where Fang Duobing gets doused with sex pollen... of course, Li Lianhua wants to help, but there is not much he can do with his yang disfunction. How handy to have someone like a-Fei nearby to rail the young master, then!! It is sexy and wonderfully in-canon, and I'm all for it.
And I'm probably still forgetting a few fics, there is nowhere near enough jadecest here compared to what I know I have read and enjoyed... Shame on me again for forgetting to bookmark more often than not.
I'm a bit sad that I barely found any of this year's authors on tumblr (don't know if they don't have accounts here, or do under different usernames) so if anyone knows about them, repost bc I'd like to engage and give them my most sincere praise.
Also, I will say I purposefully avoided tgcf fics for fear of spoilers until I read the whole book, so... next year I'm surely filling this with hualian and such!! >w<
Finally, since we're at it, I just will get a bit of self-promotion with the 5 fics I liked most of what I wrote on this year. I'm IMMENSELY PROUD to have produced 36 fics in this year of our lord 2023 (3 per month!!! omfg!!) and while I can't claim favourites, these might be the ones I'm most proud of:
Some kind of dream. Xuexiao roleplaying after a night hunt, with some nice power dynamics, very mutually enthusiastic consensual non-con, and Xue Yang all but confessing that he is Xiao Xingchen's worse enemy... Smut and fluff, all in one. I do love the 3 year bliss in Yi City, and all the in-canon opportunities it offers!!!
Incensed nights. An INSANE endeavor for kinktober, with WangXian dreaming each night a different cozy, cruel, smutty or simply crack-y scenario. 31 fics for the price of one!! multiple pairings, I can't stress how much Lan Zhan dreams of his brother, or wei wuxian's mind follows other ships... Extremely happy with this one, and I nearly went crazy, seriously.
Shards of morning nights and forbidden kisses. My attempt at jadecest, niecest and omegaverse, all in one. ANd quite successful, might I say! Both clan leaders Lan and Nie want to find a way to claim and marry their respective omega didis, but something something clan rules forces them to play a delicate and sexy political game. It ends in a very nice orgy XD
A Comedy of Yi City Errors. This one, I'm particularly happy with the sheer amount of planning and interlocking plotpoints it has, with Song Lan coming across Xiao Xingchen, a-Qing and Xue Yang without even realizing. I'm told it is quite funny... And I like it very much >w<
...what did you call it again? the only one not mdzs in the list, this is for Till the end of the moon and it's yet again Tantai Jin suffering in his so beautiful way! It was done for an exchange, following the premise: take a canon even and make it worse. Do you think ttj had it bad in the series, with the servants mistreating him in Ye Manor? Ya have seen nuffin!!!
Once again, thanks for reading, thanks to all authors for writing, and let's have a wonderful 2024 full of fics and love!!!

Breandán Ó Murchú said that while the media was obsessed with the success being enjoyed by his son Cillian at present, and while that was fine, there was more to it than that.
“There are so many things happening in the world, that we should be sensible about these things and that’s what he’s saying himself as well,” said Breandán.
“We’re very pleased with him and very happy that he’s getting on so well.”
When the news came through, Cillian was at home with his parents. “We were all here, there are four of us and each is as important to us as the other, we were all together and we had a cup of tea and the story came and we were delighted.”
Cillian’s father admitted to not being fond of the fuss or ‘puililiú’ that comes with his son’s fame but recalled his son’s early interest in drama during the interview.
“He was always lively, a lovely little fellow, full of chat, and he always liked to have an adventure going on in his imagination constantly – he was full of spirit and life and imagination.
“He loved being in the company of other children and I’d say he made up a lot of stories and they did a lot of wild things from time to time – he was very mature as a young person and, I’d say, when he was at school he annoyed a teacher or two as he found it difficult to sit still while in national school, you know the way with young lads.”
His early interest was in music and the rhythm of music, his father noticed. “It’s interesting that, as he grew older, he showed an interest in the old ‘Fiannaíocht’ stories about Diarmuid and Gráinne, that surprised me.
"Anything that was exaggerated or larger than life, he enjoyed that, and I suppose there’s a link between that and drama, I don’t know.”
His father recalled that Cillian didn’t seem to be very interested in his studies during the year but when he set his mind to it, he did very well in exams and so on. “He didn’t want to spend all his time studying and when he went to Presentation College, they were very good, there were one or two in particular who noticed his interest in literature and that he had an aptitude for writing.
"When they had a band, they gave Cillian and his friends an opportunity to go on stage, and there were a few people who helped him on, including the author Billy Wall.
“Cillian was lucky to meet him, he was also very interested in history.
“I don’t think he showed an interest in acting until he met Pat Kiernan and the gang in Corca Dorcha. “He told me then that he saw Clockwork Orange on stage and this had an enormous impact on him. “He said somewhere that we didn’t bring him to the theatre when he was young but he forgot that he had three younger siblings and that made it more difficult to go to plays.
“If I was starting again with him, I’d bring him to more plays because it’s clear that he had a deep interest.”
Meeting Pat Kiernan and Enda Walsh gave Cillian the confidence he needed to immerse himself in theatre, his father said. “He got the taste for it and followed his heart, he knew then this is what he wanted to do.
“He didn’t want to do it for publicity or anything, he just wanted to do it right, I must give him that.”
Mr Ó Murchú said that Cillian wanted to do things right and that was something that pleased his father. “That’s something you wouldn’t expect from young people – you know yourself about boys, he’d lose school bags and other things like all young lads but when he put his mind to it, you’d know he wanted to do it right and that helped him enormously.”
When Cillian made his breakthrough with the stage production of Disco Pigs, he was still a Law student in UCC and his parents were getting conflicting advice from different sources saying that he should pursue his career in theatre as he was so obviously talented, while others were saying that he would be foolish to abandon his studies for the stage.
They saw him on stage in his first production, Frank McGuinness’ Observe the Sons of Ulster. “He was very good in that, I thought, though I didn’t think he was better than others in the play or anything like it but we knew he was very serious and then Disco Pigs was a revelation for us because it was on a different level entirely.
“Pat and Enda, it was clear that they were on a different level as they were so creative, himself and Eileen Walsh, the professionalism of that work amazed us and there was no stop to him after that and he met with very nice people who helped him on the road and they helped him.
“We’re very pleased entirely for him, I don’t like to say we’re proud of him because it’s his achievement, not ours,” he said.
“We brought him into the world and we did our best but we don’t see at all that we had a hand in the work that he’s doing at present but we’re not going to lose our wits and neither is he.
“We don’t like to make too much fuss about him, he’s got a job like the sons and daughters of other people and the difference, he gets a lot of publicity. “All the same we’re so happy for him and pleased.”
He said that he and his wife were in an empty cinema when they went to a 5pm screening to see him on the big screen and were very impressed. Mr Murphy is looking forward to seeing Cillian’s newest film, Small Things Like These, which is based on a Clare Keegan book and said that his son learned a lot on the Ken Loach film, The Wind That Shakes the Barley.
“I remember he came home one evening after filming and he was very worried about something that happened during that day’s filming, as if it were something that really happened, and that’s down to how immersed in the work he was and the methods of Ken Loach, that work came from the heart for that movie, I felt.” He said that film allowed people, including Cillian’s mother’s people and his own family who were involved, to talk about that period.
At home, Cillian will talk about anything before he will talk about the movies and while his parents ask him questions from time to time, and he answers them, they don’t want to fuss too much.
As for going to the Oscars, Breandán and his wife don’t intend to travel. “If he’s nominated for a BAFTA, we will go there as it’s closer to home and when he comes home from the Oscars, we will make him a cake.”

Do you have any reccomendations for shows/music/etc. in munster irish?
Grma!
The largest volume of stuff would be in radio shows (which you can get as podcasts too), and a lot of this will be a bit Kerry centric since it's the strongest area of the Munster Gaeltacht. So you've got An Saol Ó Dheas which is a local (to the Munster Gaeltacht) news show, puts out a 50m episode 5 days a week, so there's a lot to use there. The presenter, Helen Ní Shé has excellent Irish and listening to it is a great way to build up your listening skills and get better with the munster dialect. Then there's also Cartlann Bhóthar na Léinsí which is a show which airs once a week (and also one rerun I think). Its presenter, Dáithí de Mórdha, also has excellent Irish, and he picks out interesting recordings from the radio archives (stuff from 30 or 40 years ago usually), so you get older and stronger speakers on there a lot, but much worse microphones and recording quality lol.
There's also Eachtraigh Dom, with Pádraig Ó Sé, but that one isn't released in podcast form so you have to go onto the website or listen live, so I don't have much experience with it.
In terms of music, there's lots of trad stuff from the Ó Beaglaoich family, here's Rosc Catha na Mumhan by Máire and Séamus Ó Beaglaoich. I also quite enjoy the rap music by Súil Amháin. In terms of TV shows in Irish there's not a huge range of stuff, and even less in Munster Irish specifically. Seal le Dáithí is a talk show hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé who has Kerry Irish, you can find it on the TG4 player, some portion of the cast on any season of Ros na Rún will speak munster Irish, though it's usually not a huge portion. The kids show "Seó Luna" had a Munster actor for the main character for a while, but I think they've got a Galway actor now.
There's also a lot of books written quite dialectally in munster Irish, stuff like Séadna (Cork), Peig - A Scéal Féin, Greenhorn, Leabhar Mhaidhc Dháith (Waterford). Kids' books too, stuff like Orla Uan and Mábúis.
Personally I've found listening to the podcasts to be the most helpful, just for the sheer amount of exposure you can get from them, it really helps you develop a sense of what people tend to say, what's common and what's uncommon.

HSK4 grammar:
In lesson 2 level 6 of Super Chinese, I came across these two example sentences with "regardless of", "no matter":
不管多么困难,千万不能放弃。
bùguǎn duōme kùnnán, qiān wàn bùnéng fàngqì ("no matter how difficult, we really can't give up")
无论有什么问题,我们都一定要多交流。
wúlùn yǒu shé me wèntí, wǒmen dōu yīdìng yào duō jiāoliú ("whatever issues we have, we must communicate more")
The topic of the lesson was actually 千万, which can be used similarly to 一定, but what about 不管 and 无论? I researched it, and thought I might share my findings with you.
They can actually be used interchangeably in many situations, such as the two examples above.
Tumblr media
However, we cannot use 无论 with "...不..." phrases; we must use 还是.
And there is the expression 无论如何 wúlùnrúhé ("in any case"), in which we can't use 不管.
Tumblr media
Sources:
Go East Mandarin (short explanation in English)
Chinese Zero to Hero (video lesson in Chinese only + short quiz)
Bonus: two songs with 无论:
《听我说谢谢你》
《美丽世界的孤儿》 my beloved
I can't think of any with 不官... Can you?

Shé
A mouth full of poison
or perhaps medicine
hard to know the difference
when she’s had to bite her tongue
until it split in two.
Even as she basks in leafy sunshine
floating high in a haze of smoke
she’s sliding easily down
beautifully
sinuously
towards the dark.
Below earth is the root
it’s her own tale
the place where it all began.
I find a white suit
left on a warm stone
and wonder who she is now.
