Hello everyone,

Brazil is underwater, and we come here asking you for your help.

As some of you may know, the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has been getting torrential rains since last Monday (29/04/24).

In four days, it has rained 436,2 millimeters (17,2 inches), which’s triple the normal amount in a month, which is 140 millimeters (5,5 inches) 

More than two great rivers in our region had their volume duplicated, or sometimes, triplicated in size.

This means all the cities that are close to these rivers ended up completely underwater

There were more than 110 towns flooded and the estimate is that more than half a million people have been affected by this climate disaster. There are also thousands of people who are arriving in my city (the state capital, Porto Alegre) as climate refugees, coming from communities displaced by the floods.

Through this unprecedented tragedy we have been really happy to see entire communities mobilizing to help others. Still, there are people who have lost everything, especially those in marginalized communities living in precarious, unsafe and unsanitary housing.

That’s where you come in. We need money. Money to buy food, clothes, medicine, basic hygiene products, mattresses so that refugees have a place to sleep, basically everything.

Right now, the biggest demand is drinkable water: my city is almost completely out of water, because the water treatment stations have been flooded. 

We understand that you may be able to give very little, but also what is little to you means A Lot more to us. Just a dollar is enough to buy 5 liters of fresh water.

as devastating as it was to see a bunch of creative remarks and asks go down the drain - let's be real, i won't have time to answer them with how linear the story is becoming for ease of access [goodbye 500 asks... though kacey took screenshots of drawings you guys sent in our inbox!!!]

hooowever, there's also another key reason we had to clear the inbox

very long and convoluted psa/ramble about this matter ahead! but also slightly important and i encourage you to read it if you think about using agdt's inbox as a way to vent or share things about your irl troubles

some people treat the blog's inbox as a venting area

it doesn't really make me uncomfortable, it's just something i prefer not seeing. i don't like sharing or being shared personal information especially from an anon or a stranger

this doesn't go for just agdt - it goes for all blogs you interact with: please don't make yourself vulnerable to a stranger on the internet. you are putting yourself in a dangerous spot.

if you need escapism or help, turn to a professional or someone close - going to a stranger can go horribly wrong in two ways: you make them uncomfortable and subject them to a responsibility they never signed up for, or you let someone use your vulnerabilities and personal information against you.

i can probably count like 100 or so asks of people sharing something overly personal and asking for comfort. i don't hate it, i'm not mad, i'm just worried and i hope the people who send them become aware that they should not send those asks knowing that if they're answered, they could be answered publicly with everyone and their mama being able to see that vulnerable moment in that ask.

can't exactly ignore them when it's been almost a year of young impressionable users over sharing to a stranger who answers asks publicly [along with the fact that i hardly see people talk about this matter when it comes to rp/ask blogs.] also so they don't do this to another askblog that has another impressionable youngin running it and publicizes asks that contain personal life info.

we don't add rules to asks on agdt because we can pick and choose which ones we answer. a set of rules isn't going to stop an asshole from breaking them so i'm not wasting my time trying to enforce one. and that's not what i'm trying to do in this post either. i'm putting this out there because i don't want people making the irrational decision of making their life and weakest moments accessible to people who want to use it against them.

i'm not trying to make a big deal out of this either. i can just skip or delete asks that i know i shouldn't answer or won't be able to. but that's my side of responsibility as someone with a platform. i want to make it clear that the audience that decides to interact with these kinds of blogs should be aware that just because you're behind a screen and concealed by an internet persona, that doesn't mean you're any safer from other people using your vulnerabilities against you.

Got ideas. Dust and Killer are both crows/magpies, Horror's a harpy egal, Nightmare's a falcon- honestly not sure what bird would fit him cause I'm kinda scared of birds ngl

Anon don't even get me fucking started on harpies I WILL sit you all down and make you listen to me talk for hours about my bird headcanons.

Dust has always struck me as having the wings of a goshawk. A solitary, silent hunter, agile and terrifying, waiting for the perfect moment then striking with frightening precision but ferocious power. Beautiful steely grey wings too - look up "goshawk eyes" and you'll be in for a treat. The dust gathered in his wings makes them very soft to the touch.

Horror is a big beautiful vulture. A large and powerful bird that picks bones clean - and eats the bones too, if that option is available. He might smell a little (the stench of blood and meat clings to every feather), but I imagine he'd be the nicest of them all to cuddle. He fluffs up when you give him affection.

Killer has always given me kestrel vibes. A little smaller than the others but no less effective, far more energetic and active, alarmingly fast, using speed and precision to overwhelm opponents rather than needing brute force. The black and white wing pattern matches him, too. He has a habit of cooing like a dove when you're nice to him.

Also... Kestrels have the same 'tear tracks' as Killer. I feel like this bird was made for him.

Nightmare... an owl. Obviously. The big, beautiful midnight black wings of an owl. He rarely flies, but when he does, he's as silent as death. No one ever sees him coming.

Once, he probably had wings more like this. Beautiful soft plumage. But the miasma has sunk deep into every feather, and now, they're black with an oil-like sheen.

They both wake up to Merlin spread out in the centre across Arthur’s massive gargantuan bed like a starfish with Arthur practically attached to Merlin’s side, head heavy on Merlin’s shoulder, hand clinging to Merlin’s chest, arm tucked in between the space nook between them, legs knotted together.

Merlin has never slept in such a luxurious bed before.

Arthur has never shared a bed with someone else before.

Yet it doesn’t surprise them both when their share that first with one another, that it ends up working so well. Merlin indulging in the softness and sheer space, delighting in Arthur’s unconscious affections. Arthur giving in to his want for human touch and Merlin being so willing.

They don’t talk about how they woke up, just that that was the best sleep they’ve ever had.

Something I would really like is for Monty to have nightmares of Will melting into wax. I want him to dream of holding Will in his arms and have him slip through his fingers like the sand on the side of the texas roads when the wind carries it away - I want him to close his arms as if to grab the vanishing silouhette, as if holding onto him could bring him back and have the wax pile up on the floor beneath him like a pile of melted human horror as he hugs nothing but empty space.

(Then I want him to wake up drenched in fear and sweat, look to the side of his bed and see Will peacefully sleeping there. I want him to remember that they are lovers now (this is absolutely wishful thinking don’t attack me I know they’re far from it), but then I want part of the horror to persist, because the situation feels eerily similar to the time he saw Will die)
