Cookie Run Witch's Castle Review pt.1/3

I had totally forgot this game was coming out till I accidently clicked on the reward chart in CRK and apparently I pre-registered :0

I get super frustrated/absorbed with block braking games so don't typically play them, but since I really wanted the CRK rewards I decided to grind through ch.1 to get the rewards (please note as of writing this the CRK prize event is over) then delete the game (still need to do xD). I've only played a little bit of Oven Break so keep that in mind character knowledge/lore wise.

Story

Off the start the little introduction animation was amazing. Loved the puppet like vibe! This game also seems to take place between CROB and BRK? Basically the witch is baking cookies to eat.

Then when Gingerbrave wakes up in the oven the animation turns to the more familiar cookie run style. Gingerbrave escapes the oven...

In the walls he meets Witchberry cookie who shows him the window, but refuses to help. She is such the embodiment of a cat. Purple cat with magic powers is just *chefs kiss*.

The next cookie we meet is Gingerbright. She teaches us about the importance of life potions. Gingerbright is...really unnerving lol feels like she has hidden intentions. Gingerbrave is so positive and onboard to making new friends even if they are a bit sus! If you don't take a life potion you become stale *horrified gasp* (Gingerbright thinks it wouldn't be too bad...)

I just saved this screenshot cause I like the talking door xD reminds me of Gandalf.

Strawberry and Wizard cookie are up next. Wizard cookie is so sassy/sarcastic in this. Bro got stuck in a chest and said he wasn't stuck just not ready to come out lmao Strawberry is best girl. This 'room' generates life potions and some other rooms produce gems and soul stones.

Will talk a bit more about this in pt.2 but there is a boss battle against the witches cat where Gingerdozer appears (dozer like sleeping I'm guessing?) They are suspiciously interested in the witch. Very SUS.

Chapter 1 ends with the characters leaving the tower where the window can be seen because they smell something good and are hungry. A cookie dressed in white watches them from the window.

The story moves at a pretty good pace I think and its not too hard to complete most levels without boosts (of course it helps a lot to have boosts if you mess up). Lots of bonus prizes can be won by doing things such as competing to complete a certain amount of levels first against other players. However, there is A LOT to unlock and stars can only be required through playing levels which makes it a bit tiring.

Game Play

I pulled a pretty good cookie (vampire cookie) right off the bat from the gacha, his special skill helped a lot to progress through levels quicker.

The gacha has two sections 'basic' and 'season'. Basic can be achieved with tickets - get these as rewards quite often. Or with 1,000 coins. Not too bad a price I think as you do get a lot of coins in game. Season can only be rolled with special purple coins. I'm not really sure how these are acquired. Each pull costs 100 of these special coins and after completing chapter 1 I only had 90 of them.

When you roll in the basic gacha three dice appear. The pictures on the dice match up with the 5 images above + there is a bonus dice/roll image. Each image you roll gets added to the edge of the boxes above. When a box is 'full' you get to spill a wheel for that type of prize.

Furniture items can be used to decorate empty rooms. There is also cookie specific rooms you can decorate. If you get items for a specific cookie you have to wait till you get that cookie to place the item.

Not 100% sure how mole shipping works? Think you complete missions then can send packages?

A lot of the functions are the same as CRK - changing name, icon, season pass, etc.

Everything you complete can be viewed in collection + prizes are redeemed there for completing stuff.

You don't have to unlock sections to play more levels. Just click the yellow triangle in bottom right to play more levels. Prize unlocking on sections will be shown with a single star with a number beside it or a present box with a star above it (not pictured).

OKAY GUYS I HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE THE OTHER MCS INTO BIRDS 😁 NOW PREPARE FOR A LONG THREAD OF BIRD RAMBLES AND HCS I HAVE FOR EACH OF THEM

MC1 - Chickadee

I have decided to make MC1 a chickadee or more specifically a long tailed tit because it is so small just like MC1. Now you might think that the chickadee is too cute for MC1 but that's where you're WRONG. Fun fact chickadees are known to be a FUCKING MENACES. IF THEY'RE THREATENED, YOU KNOW THEY GON ATTACK.

So with MC1 no matter where the little fella goes whether he's flying or walking, trouble is his #1 fan

In one moment, he'll be boiling water but then a few seconds, the kitchen's on fire. Another moment, he'll be just sitting in a tree then a few seconds later he's pooping on someone like a pigeon. Yeah he is a fucking menace.

Surprisingly he's a pretty cheerful and friendly guy for someone who causes mayhem every 5 secs. He gets along with everyone (sorta) and will get into trouble with you because he likes you :)

He, MC2, and MC5 are a trio of violent and unhinged birdies who would peck anyone's asses

He and my duck mc are definitely evil besties like they're either getting their asses put into trouble or causing mischief and giggling like the little stoopy birds they are

So in conclusion he's a fucking gremlin who can't stop getting into trouble and needs a leash on him

MC 2 - Lovebird

Ah yes the girlboss. So for her I have decided to make her a love bird specifically a black masked love bird. Man I really LOVE how she and the bird look so similar UGH 😫 IT'S SUCH A PERFECT MATCH FOR MY GIRLIE.

She is the definition of a girlboss as she is acts however she wants whenever she wants and there is NO exception to that

And because she's a girlboss she is definitely a great leader as she is confident, assertive, reliable, and fights for what she believes while looking so cool doing it

But just because she's a bad bitch doesn't mean she a mean bitch! She just knows how to act for herself. As her friend the little birdie will definitely give you makeovers like in those moments in disney princess movies where the animals help the princess dress up!

She and MC3 are definitely the wlw and mlm solidarity 😌

She and my duck mc definitely have sleepovers where they do girl sleepover stuff like give each makeovers, gossip, and do rituals lol

Welp I'm turning the himbo into a penguin. I thought of the penguin more specifically the emperor penguin because he's big and so is the penguin.

So amongst all of the mcs this penguino has dated the most people. Like he'll be flirting with every hot guy he sees every 5 secs and you know how THAT goes. Bro's like the horny option in the dialogues.

But the guy has some standards so that's pretty much why you don't see him dating certain guys especially those who see the exile in him

This penguino definitely radiates big brother vibes and he is one. You'll definitely see him acting all brotherly towards younger characters like Agyo and Zhurong and especially towards the mcs

MC4 always has to watch MC3's ass and stop him from flirting to every hot guy he sees. MC4: GO TO HORNY JAIL! *bonk!* MC3: Ow!

MC3 tells his love stories to my duck mc and she is honestly traumatized because of it. MC3: So let me tell you the time I woke up in bed with two guy- DuckMC: I DEMAND THAT YOU SPEAK NO FURTHER

But she admires the penguin and the two have a pretty good sibling relationship :)

MC4 - Falcon

For the skinny man himself I've decided to make him a falcon specifically a prairie falcon. Ngl he was so hard for me to find a perfect bird match because originally I was gonna make a mallard duck but I thought no that ain't right so I chose the falcon.

This Falcon loves to observe everything like you'll see him at 4 am in the morning just watching through the window just everything that surrounds him fascinates him ✨

And out of all the mcs he's the most chillest and doesn't get into trouble as the others do. He's also one of the mature ones, making the sense out of everyone.

He's also a nerd he's like smart and is quite knowledgeable about his interests which is anime and manga so he definitely gets along with the akihabara group and MC5 who's also a fellow nerd

Him and MC5 get along pretty well as MC5 can tolerate him and the two share an interest in anime and manga.

He and my duck mc definitely get along and he would grab her with his talons and give the duckling a little flight.

MC5 - Owl

Last but not least I'm gonna make MC5 an owl more specifically a eurasian eagle-owl. I decided to choose this bird because I thought it looks grumpy like how I thought MC5 looked grumpy so I put the two together.

Our owl buddy here is tired of everything. He's tired of everyone's bs and is always on the verge of going apeshit. Now that doesn't mean he's mean he's just salty towards those who are assholes or just generally annoying.

Now while he is mature but there will be times where he does stupid shit because he's just over it like in rugrats when Stu Pickles is making chocolate pudding at 4 in the morning. MC4: MC5 what are you doing? MC5: Making chocolate pudding. MC4: It's four o'clock in the morning, why on earth are you making chocolate pudding? MC5: …Because I've lost control of my life.

As owls are depicted as nerds, this one is no exception towards it. You'll definitely see this owl hanging upside down while reading a manga that he just started. And there are moments where he is binge watching all the episodes of his favorite anime in one night.

He and MC1 are the typical siblings as they both hate and annoy each other as well as loving each other in the end. MC1 pulling pranks on him and MC5 getting his vengeance on him. Then the two sleeping together in their bird cage.

My duck mc is one of the few people he likes and can tolerate. He definitely worries a lot for her and gets annoyed when she gets into trouble. The owl always rambles about his interests to her and she always listen cause she's a good duckling :)

Well... as any immortal did, she sought entertainment. At first, she disregards pretty much every etiquette there is, leaving her in the dust, if she was a mortal. Since she wasn't, she decided to walk around town from day until night, playing occasionally with strangers with video games, board games and those random games done without tools except by hands and words. A traditional cynic. Most people are annoyed by her however, and she quickly became infamous in the internet.

From then on, lots of people came by to bully, harm and kill her, but she was unfazed. It was less like breaking human rights, and more like a bunch of close friends just playing those cat and mouse games. By then, she had practically lost everything she needs to stay alive, and people started treating her like that one bro. Some scientists are clearly curious, but knowing about the ethical implications of torture for immortals, they were cautious. She was really hungry and thirsty, although she could've just stolen food, like she had done earlier times, she kinda just forgot what it felt like. She and the scientists came to an agreement on the scientists providing her nourishment, and her giving samples. Though for the scientists, it's a huge loss, since her genetic makeup and biological contents are practically normal all around. Some people realized a bit late that she could be used as a perpetual machine, like letting her bleed onto a waterwheel, or she could be mortalized by keeping separate body parts in different conditions and so on. Yet, all of their efforts seems to go in vain as she just comes back as normal, her bleeds stop after a while, any sort of exploitation of her immortality would ended up chemically changed or completely separated from her system. Confused, she tries to at least understand what they are doing.

In the meantime, she started to go live streaming, pouring months to years on several hundred games. Alongside occupying her time with trying to understand high level concepts. At some points in the timeline, she would simply go into the front lines of ongoing wars and watch the warzone, occasionally stopping people from killing each other. Soldiers gave her advice and context on the wars, and she would decide to coerce the authorities from both sides to take a break before she dismantles their entire military without harming anybody. As times go by, she sort of becomes a legend amongst people. She gets around hundreds of thousands of different demands from people, ranging from basic needs to wild explorations, such as diving to the mariana trench or going to the moon without gear, or helping people grind in games. Sometimes she'll feel a bored burnout, and just talk about nothing in particular to the next stranger she sees.

Some people are jealous or concerned for her, the implications of her being able to out skill everyone by time, or the torture of being alive forever. Although she admits it being difficult for large amounts of time to pass and for her to stay the same age is rather eerie, she basically needs no real reasoning to exist here other than the fact that she can't leave the mortal realm anyways. In addition, she can't really be better than everyone, she doesn't want to be the only person to be able to do things, that'd be kinda lonely, since no one can vibe with her.

She once spent a large portion of her time collecting pieces of trash all over the world and making elaborate pieces of art, although, after several decades, most of them had already been decomposed by plastic-eating bacteria. There would be large empty cities all around the world and she would hold some sort of party or spend time loitering around the city leaving behind entire tourist attractions of niche references free for the public to see before ultimately being dismantled.

There were multiple attempts to criminalize her, taking her to court and giving her a prison sentence. Ultimately however, she would just wait it all out as she spent her days talking to the other prisoners about all the stories she had, she then developed a knack for storytelling. Most courts also rejected the idea of a life sentence on an immortal. People were rather interested in her friends' outlook on her immortality and invincibility. They were rather indifferent since that's just the way she is.

After a long while, she became a household name, not really somebody to look up to, but someone that just exists. After some time playing around with tensions and conflict only to come out unscathed and leaving behind a new set of enemies towards her indifference, she became mellowed out, doing things at her own pace and often times imagining random stuff and putting it into a medium. She had committed lots of sin and crime alongside virtues and good deeds. Though she's never really done with anything, knowing there'll be another thing that comes up, and the fact that she can still get rusty.

The fact that the sky was still weeping cooling tears onto the heated pool helped made the Kong feel a little bit better, and he flexed his shoulders upwards to accept the brisk offering from the canopy when some creature or another passed by overhead to dump more than a few droplets onto them as it hopped by from some unknown heights, which earned a smile plastered firm to the corner of his lips as he felt the heat to his core sink to Goldilocks zone again.

"Heh. Struggling, Fido?" He muses, noticing how the wolf's tongue escapes him again. Maybe he was lucky when it came to fur seeing as he actually had a few naked spots on his skin for airing, but the wolf didn't seem to have such luxury. Unless he decided to shave a few spots of course. "Gotta get lucky and hope for some wind up top to knock some leaf puddles on your head!" Though in normal circumstances, being suddenly drenched from a flying squirrel's mistakes seemed like more of an unlucky matter. Though by now he could probably graduate from 'saying' to 'slurring'.

A Day In The Life / Character Study type of fic bc they Do find the party (they break in somewhere to get supplies n there's so many monsters n the last time they all saw each other they were kids and will-el are covered up so they don't recognize each other n ofc will-el are bandits so they get captured and then yanno. they rip off will's face coverings and it's like Omgggg Surprise It's Me Aha Sorry I Bit You And Almost Took Your Knee Out And Hit You With A Metal Pipe Can You Please Uncuff Me Now Hehe<3). aka will-el find their way back home and now they have to figure out what home really is and how to reintegrate into society. it's about the ghosts of your past, reconciling what you knew with what's in front of you, falling back into old habits and having to learn new ones, falling in love all over again, mike waking up from the same nightmare he always has and going to will's room in the dead of night because he has to be SURE that this is real that will's actually alive that it really is him right in front of him and that he hasn't been taken away again and that this isn't just another dream within a dream, learning how to be a human being again, and it ends with someone's wedding ofc.
