Thinking about how Jotaro Kujo is The Tragic Character™️ of JJBA. Araki simply cannot let that man be happy. He fr said “you can fit so much trauma into this bad boy”!

His entire life was so tragic that we all knew he was going to die, eventually.

His Mother’s life was endangered and on the journey to save her he gains significant trauma from people trying to KILL him and then lost three friends at the ripe old age of 17.

He goes to University, meets a woman he falls in love with, and has a kid. realizes that as long as there’s a threat of enemy stand users wanting revenge for Dio his family will never be safe so he has to leave his family behind and distance himself.

Became a older brother/father figure to Josuke but had to leave him because he knew he would bring enemy stand users into that poor boys life- the only Joestar that had a somewhat of a shot at being normal.

Then in part 5 it’s revealed that when he got separated from Polnareff, Diavolo paralyzed Polnareff. He’s probably carrying guilt from that. He’s also probably stressed asf at first that the son of the vampire who tried to adamantly kill him is just out there somewhere. Thank god Giorno took after Jonathan 😭.

Then in part 6, he had to face his failures as a father, understanding that he didn’t deserve and probably would never get Jolyne’s forgiveness, but it’s so clear to me that Jotaro wanted to be there for her. But of course, to him, the only way he can protect people is to push them far away from him. He never learned that he is stronger in numbers because whenever he was in numbers, someone he loved got hurt.

Jotaro never understood he deserved the happiness of a loving family.

He couldn’t even save his daughter (and he dies believing that Jolyne hates him because he knows he’s a shit father AND WAS OK WITH IT AS LONG AS SHE GOT TO LIVE 😭😭😭) in the process.

He’s a Greek Myth type of sadness.

I think it’s really interesting the few tidbits we have (Illinois Boy™️, the Oh Calcutta story, getting his start in radio) + in the case of those first two its like. clearly been told time and time again for an audience. or if you’d prefer something else any thoughts on minnie 🙏😭 haunting the narrative icon

hello hello ! i so wish we’d gotten a little bit more about him but i’ve always imagined jack as being a little more introverted in his younger years? i think he really enjoys validation and this is such a difficult thing to achieve as someone as slightly awkward as jack. (don’t know why. maybe i just enjoy pathetic men but his blushing at naked bodies and his little “oh! not my chair!” has always made me feel like he has had to build up this persona he has made for himself) charming and quick-witted but very easily crumbles whenever he’s in an uncomfortable position (he seems to almost dissociate often?)

i think he might’ve been in some sort of college radio and broadcast (i’ve discussed this with a friend before!), and he was just so happy to build an audience. there’s no mention of his parents (my memory is foggy!) so part of me thinks that they’re either not in the picture or he’s lost them? so you know,,, mommy and daddy issues galore despite either one. maybe even one of them didn’t think being someone on television would maintain a steady flow of income. regardless, it might make him more interested in gaining that connection with the audience, getting validated for his feelings. getting praise for it. no you’re so cool please continue to make your show! i’m such a big fan!

he doesn’t know who is there for him as Mr. Midnight and who is there for him Jack Delroy so he blurs the line and vents to his audience, looks at the camera with every intention to impress.

i imagine meeting minnie was very sweet though. they were both sort of up and coming and it’s nice to have someone who understands that struggle! i imagine minnie being in theatre makes her the more extroverted out of the two ! (she was the one sharing stories and jack getting shy about them!), but also a lot more open about her emotions. jack seems like someone who keeps to himself and doesn’t quite understand how to communicate well (he does hide a lot from others when they ask what’s going on. might just be that 70s toxic masculinity upbringing that makes him unable to express these,, daddy issues? who knows!)

i do fully believe he loved her though! younger jack probably never dreamed of finding a girl like minnie. maybe a bit of idealization for her occurred earlier on but minnie was so fresh and bright and full of life even during her time spent ill that i always thought she just good humor and a knack for just being naturally talented at the arts.

which is a big difference between the two! minnie just had that spark of life, she was always going to end up being someone big, she knew how to capture a room. jack was awkward and had to find his voice, he had to learn what people liked, what good jokes landed and how to deliver them, he had to work hard (and i don’t mean this as minnie not working hard! jack just had to work to become this persona while minnie was able to become her characters almost immediately, she’s able to understand their emotions and feel for them immediately. i think it makes her a much more empathetic person while jack is a lot more sympathetic. jack needs to be verbally told what people are feeling which might be why ratings are so comforting. they’re either good or bad! they’re easy to read.) and become who we know as Mr. Midnight. something of an artist obsessed with not their craft but what their craft will mean to others

sorry if this wasn’t exactly background stuff pfft! i more so focused on how their personalities were! i do think that minnie was possibly in dance, and has that ability to be able to play a song after she hears it on time on the piano. i think she has to teach jack how to pick up on it though, he’s sort of stumbling and his keys are sour baha. he probably used to stay up late studying little mannerisms talk shows had. i think he has a natural charm to him but that charm is a lot more meek than what we see? i love them both dearly,,,

Okay so i have NEVER (and i mean NEVER) watched TUA, but my wonderful and amazing friend @aroacebooknerd is a huge fan and quite genuinely 99.9% of what they’ve posted recently has been reblogs of people who are angry about the S4 ending and the character assassination of Five

so here’s basically what I know about season four (and TUA in general):

TUA fans: Oh boy! I can’t wait for the season 4 finale, we’re finally gonna get closure! I’m hoping all the characters will finally be happy and something with marigolds will happen! TUA director (i think): uhm actually no we’re going to give this practically cannon aroace character a love interest and make him a homewrecker! That’s what you guys wanted right? "two cut lines" - like. okay. i still maintain that the rest of the firefam doesn't actually know how close buck & eddie are and definitely do not fully realize the extent of buck's role in the diazes' life, but one thing that the rest of them Do know is that buck would rather die than leave eddie behind and i love tht these three simple words encapsulate the strength of that undying devotion

"and that started with you. whatever happens to him next, you gave him that second chance. maybe that's the point." i will never ever ever ever ever ever be over this scene and how buck found the exact words to bring eddie back from the brink and show him that what he does matters, that there's still hope, that there are things worth living for and that he made a difference in someone's life. and i think that this right here is more than romance more than love this is just. soulmatism right here. i mean....to be seen to be found isn't that what we're all searching for?

AND ON THAT NOTE. BUCK. THERE'S NOBODY IN THIS WORLD THAT I TRUST WITH MY SON MORE THAN YOU. makes me fucking INSANE because what do you mean eddie forgave him instantly?? in any other show with any other pairing this would be a season long arc with the two of them tentatively reconciling at the very end of it all. anybody else would be (understandably, i might add) nervous to leave christopher with buck after what happened, but eddie forgave buck immediately. eddie, who adores chris with all of his heart and soul, who loves that boy more than anything else in this world, saw not that buck wasn't able to hold onto chris, but that he loved him enough to try. he didn't hold it against him for chris getting swept away, he only focused on the buck that spent all day bloody and bruised, searching for his heart. but more than anything, i think he saw all of that love and heartbreak and guilt and the self doubt that matches his own reflected in buck and decided to give his best, truest friend the chance that was never given to him 🥺😭

"comes in handy when you have a bunch of holes in the wall" i can't explain why i love this bit of casual reassurance so much but i just. i think it's so simple and so sweet and a testament to how they make each other feel so loved so easily :(

i don't remember the exact quote right now but do you remember that scene where eddie and hen are gossiping about hen's mom and eddie says that his abuela would love the tea bc she loves telenovelas and buck beams at him w the fondest grin ever and teases eddie about loving telenovelas too? i know they're soulmates and in love and all of that shit but they're also Best Friends and i love all these little reminders of how well they know each other and how much they genuinely like each other. also this being in the same episode as buck's look of complete confusion when his long term gf tells him she loves him was a Choice™️

"just gonna be you and me" from the LS crossover episode for no reason other than it was cute & i love buck's subsequent jealousy

"guess all that company must've wore you out" bc of the obvious Implications that maddie tried to rope eddie into her plan of sending buck visitors to cheer him up and eddie straight up said no because he knew that wasn't going to help. yet another one of the million examples of these two knowing exactly what the other person needs & also Being exactly what the other person needs

"three minutes and seventeen seconds" because what do you MEAN he knows the exact amount of time buck was dead for. what do you mean he counted the seconds that he lived in this world without his best friend, praying and begging that he could outrun the clock and he wouldn't reach the time that would make it permanent. what do you mean he memorized the amount of time and then he threw out that line so casually because he couldn't stand the way they were talking about buck's death as something fascinating instead of as the worst three minutes and seventeen seconds of eddie's life...

the one-two punch that is "you don't need to pretend with me" and "you don't have to be anything for anybody" because both of them have spent so much of their lives not feeling good enough and not truly living for themselves...and yet around each other they've never had to do that and are free to be nothing but themselves and still be loved not despite it, but for it.

and finally last but not least....the very thesis of their relationship: "you can have my back any day" / "yeah. or, you know, you could… you could have mine" because it's stayed true ever since the first day they met and will remain true for the rest of their lives. also i'll never stop thinking about how 911 straight up said "isn't that what we all want in a partner? knowing that they have your back?" in the season five finale and have shown time and again that buck and eddie have tried to accomplish this in their previous relationships but have only ever been able to have a full and true partnership with each other...yeah that shit will Haunt me forever

Deliver Me From Nowhere

Read the whole thing in one night and cried repeatedly during. I had it looming in the back of my mind for weeks but didn't feel like I was in the right headspace until I suddenly was, and it hit differently. I love Dolores, I love Joel, I love how he sees her, their dynamic, the exploration of her emotions and headspace, her body language. Fantastic. Want to cry just thinking about it so I'm gonna STOP.

Sat and stared at the wall for a long time after this one, then worked up the courage to post TMWH which I seriously don't think I would've had the guts to post had it not been for June. I love how it handles a sensitive, painful, and very real subject, I love that it doesn't paint Joel as a fixer or savior but rather a realistic, kind partner. Again, his understanding of her and how he makes space for her is something I appreciate so much in DMFN and June.

This one is an excruciating Sit And Think - I didn't cry but I sat there paralyzed for 48 hrs with a thousand yard stare, just thinking intensely about it, after my second read through. Two chapters and I'm already messed tf up over it!! I read them in the middle of the night and then during the day and I have never been this messed up over something labeled PWP before. The passion, the ominous vibes, Cherub being so soft and Joel having this strange dark vibe... I literally just thought about it constantly for two days and I still can't fully put my finger on why. Sweet Child O' Mine - particularly pt ii

This one is so cute and yet it hurts so much. It's so real, the MC is so... I don't even know what to say, she's so on her own and she seems so kind and selfless and it just hurts to think about her cause you can feel her love for her child and for Joel and ugh. She tries so hard to be the best person she can be for everyone and it's one of those situations where nobody is doing anything wrong and yet everyone either is already hurt or gonna get hurt, and I think it's that oscillation between love and hurt that really gets me. I also read this in the middle of the night and all I had to say in my RB was like "thanks for making me cry asshole" (I'm known for my profound commentary).

Fear of God - particularly the epilogue

Fear of God is my all-time fav Joel series, the best Joel characterization I've come across and it generally set the tone for my taste in fic. It was the second series I started reading on here when I came back to Tumblr, and it's the first piece of writing that has ever truly moved me. His character arc is absolutely INSANE !! I made the mistake of reading the epilogue while listening to Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish, and for months I couldn't listen to it without crying. The day before my graduation, I kept listening to it on repeat in some strange form of self-torture and I had to explain to my bf why I was sobbing. Try to explain all of FoG in a coherent way through tears, I dare u ! I can't say much without spoiling but basically when I think back on getting into fanfic, FoG is what marks the beginning for me and I will never ever forget this piece of writing ever in my life. (Shoutout to when I got caught getting a nut off to one of the FoG extras - I can't really talk about the series without mentioning that)

The Cassandra Complex - particularly ch I, ch IV, and ch VIII

I didn't give much of a fuck about Din before TCC cause i saw him as like a taller hotter R2D2 and now here I am... Eating my words like a ration pack. I have to do a big girthy throbbing TCC reblog cause I have a lot to say about my fav series in the world but basically I can't read ch 4 without crying and even though this is a Star Wars fic and it makes no sense for me to relate to it the most out of anything on Vic's ML, sith girly is the most relatable MC thanks to her constantly feeling haunted by her past, feeling like she's hiding, feeling unworthy, torpedoing herself, and seeing so much beauty in others but struggling to see it in herself. I'll save the rest of my thoughts for the big RB but basically I've even cried at the fucking SMUT in this series like I'm on another planet when I read it (haha get it?? cause Star Wars??)

Staring At The Wall Saturdays again - I hate how much I see my younger self in little sunflower girlie, I hate that I recognize how trapped she feels in her marriage. It's such an accurate portrayal of feeling chained to a man who doesn't deserve you, and of how guilty you feel for not even acting on feelings for someone else yet but just recognizing within yourself that you deserve better, like that pain of accepting that you're not treated right and that visceral feeling of unfairness that comes with being in the wrong relationship. The guilt you feel for even just thinking it, you know? And having to recognize how you've been treated. Ugh. Also this Joel is... His mannerisms are... I.... I'll be right back-

All this years and i thought mira was almost (or tried to be) some kind of homewrecker between dan and runo 😭 when in Japan dub she never told runo about hoping dan would notice her new hairstyle but asking if things are doing well between both of it's friends.

For what i understand rewatching nv, dub mira was into ace, dan and Spectra (eww) but in japanese she was truly into Spectra (ewwww) and Ace. What a mess mira's character, she deserved better like all the girls😭

yeah, the eng dub seemed to lean into the ship bait between mira and dan more compared to the jpn dub. mira asking runo how things were going between her and dan also clued me into the fact that mira never had feelings for dan and that the writers just sprinkled some miradan crumbs here and there for the sake of yet another love triangle.

that's also why i don't think mira has feelings for ace because she only seemed to like him when julie inexplicably paid attention to him. (when will the writers learn that you can write a good romance without making a third party seem shallow.)

i don't think mira has feelings for spectra, either, and vice versa but i also can't deny that some of their scenes were sus™️and that's all I'll say LMAO

In Which Madi Zaynes On Main

MC being covered in blood in an angsty situation to start the card off is not what I expected.

Overall this card is a really beautiful display of patience, recklessness, and communication! The characters are put in a scenario where we really get to see how well they understand each other without necessarily having to say anything outright all the time.

We ALSO see that the opposite is true! It's not a miscommunication issue, just that there's some consequences to not saying anything.

There's also somewhat of a character flaw in MC that's really cool to see fleshed out because it's a common trait across all her interactions with any LI - and that is her blatant disregard for her own well-being. We know that she does it, but are not entirely sure about her motivations for it. Is it insecurity? Selflessness? Self-righteousness? Does she really just not care? Has growing up so lonely given her a strong sense of dying dutifully and honorably is better than living without purpose, alone? They definitely address it and I appreciate that they hint that the issue isn't going anywhere and won't be fixed overnight, but it's at least brought up.

Essential Boblin Episodes

In preparation for Boblin Week, I’ve compiled a list of the episodes where I think Bob and Linda’s dynamic shines the most.

Season One:

Weekend at Mort’s— this episode really has the grumpy/sunshine dynamic on full display! Bob and Linda fight and make up, and Bob learns a nice lesson about having fun with her.

Season Three:

Lindapendent Woman- ohhhhhhh myyyyy goodness. I’m being so serious when I say I think about this episode on a daily basis. Bob realizing how much he needs Linda’s help at the restaurant while also acknowledging how how she makes his life more fun?? So excellent, makes me cry, 10/10.

My Fuzzy Valentine- Bob being dumb and going to great lengths to make Linda’s Valentine’s Day special!!! Also, this episode is just so funny in general.

Season Four:

A River Runs Through Bob- the bickering in this one!! They’re so, so married. They overcome a huge problem together, and Linda gets to be the hero. Amazing.

Seaplane!— Hello??? Using infidelity in a storyline while also never having Bob or Linda consider cheating on one another is so genius. I like the argument they have that’s the heart of this episode, because both sides are understandable and I think it’s easy to empathize with them both.

Season Five:

Can’t Buy Me Math- I’m a sucker for Valentine’s Day, and I love Bob and Linda spending so much time trying to perfect theirs 😭 having romance be very messy and imperfect is so them, and it’s hilarious and sweet.

Stand By Gene- I love Bob and Linda’s competitiveness with each other, and this one adds the extra element of Bob feeling guilty and realizing how proud he actually is of Linda doing well. The moral of like “we’re always on the same side, even when we’re not” GETS TO ME.

Season Seven:

Bob Actually- sue me, it’s another Valentine’s Day episode. I love Bob stepping sooo far out of his comfort zone to make Linda smile, and her reaction to his surprise is adorable. Obsessed with them.

Eggs For Days- Bob and Linda being sooo dumb and petty and competitive. It’s a good thing they married each other, because who else is going to get this hardcore about their children’s egg hunt?

Season Eight:

The Trouble With Doubles (/also The Date Escape? google says both titles)- A hallmark of long term relationships is handling frustrating situations together, and Bob and Linda being stuck with an annoying couple feels like such a realistic Marriage™️ problem.

Go Tina on the Mountain- Is there anything more on brand for Boblin then falling asleep on the couch together after eating copious amounts of cheese? No.

Are You There, Bob? It’s Me, Birthday- I love this little exploration of an introvert and an extrovert being in a relationship together! And I love how Bob and Linda both come to separate realizations about sacrifices they can make to make the other person happy

Season Ten:

The Ring (but not scary)- Bob is so, so excited to give Linda an anniversary gift she deserves, and Linda is so secure in their love that she doesn’t need one anyway. Yes, I’m still mad about this ending.

Season Eleven:

Romancing The Beef- I’m obsessed with how their lists of what they love each other consist of such small, domestic things.

Season Twelve:

Touch of Eval(uations)— literally my favorite boblin episode!!! Bob being so anxious about not being buried with Linda is a unique way of demonstrating how much he loves her and just wants to be with her forever. This episode makes me lose my mind.

Ferry on My Wayward Bob and Linda- Valentine’s Day episodes are their THING. Another instance of them enduring a difficult situation together, and the ending where they kiss and say I love you simply destroys my life.

OK, finally writing out my thoughts for ep9 (cause MAN AM I EMOTIONALLY DRAINED RN 😭)

Honestly this is gonna be more of a character deep dive of how they’re all functioning post ep8 but HERE WE GO

First off, oh. my. god.

I’ve seen some people saying that episode was filler and to that I say WHERE. Did you see all that character development??? Like yes we didn’t get a big Empire plot or anything but like??? Hello???

This episode was SO important for so many reasons:

First off, Echo is gONE AAAAAA 😭😭😭 Was i devastated? yeah, maybe, a little bit, but i was fully expecting this episode to just brush past that and it DIDN’T.

I feel like much of the time Echo seemed almost unnecessary (stick with me here). You have this elite clone squad with all these enhancements and skills, so what are they gonna do with this fifth member? This always felt like a theme for me, especially in fics, that Echo would feel like an extra and struggle to find his place in the squad (Which isn’t true, he’s very necessary, but until now that’s been hard to see).

After Crosshair leaves, it changes a bit. The Batch is used to working with only four members, so although losing Crosshair obviously shook them, they held together (in part because they had to focus on Omega and other things). So here, Echo can step in and fill Crosshairs role somewhat as lookout or copilot or whatever, and he always backs up the others in their roles as well.

Echo is a good friend to Wrecker, able to joke around in ways Hunter (as the leader) and Tech (just not jokey in that way) can’t. He’s there for Hunter as Corporal; second in command and just generally another leading figure (like in season one when Hunter is captured and he leads the Batch through Kamino). Echo backs Tech up in pretty much every way, like just generally knowing what Tech is talking about and how to help (copiloting, ship maintenance, brother handling, etc). And of course, Echo is so so good with Omega. He teaches her to use her bow, he knows how to be a bit more disciplined than Hunter while still being super attentive and sweet, he is simply Mom™️.

And then he leaves.

Not gonna get too deep into that because we all know his reasoning, but while I expected this episode to focus on the Batch working without him, I didn’t expect them to show us how they struggle once he’s gone. Because holy shit they do.

Obviously, Omega is most noticeably affected. She’s struggling with a part of her family, someone she never wanted to think of leaving, being gone now. But the others are struggling too, and that’s only making things worse. Wrecker and Tech are fighting, which although she’s somewhat used to that, this time they’re not stopping. Hunter isn’t doing anything about it either, and none of them are saying anything about Echo being gone. She’s thrown off, no one is acting like themselves (because they’re missing Echo too although she can’t see it yet), and oh right, THEY JUST LOST THE MARAUDER.

But now for the others.

The minute they stepped off the Marauder in this episode, they felt wrong. And none of them really mentioned it or outwardly showed it that much, but they missed Echo too.

Wrecker was off. He’s stuck with just Hunter, Tech and Omega now, and he’s being affected by all their emotions. In the past, Crosshair was who he could joke around with, a role Echo filled afterwards. Now, Hunter and Tech just don’t fill that role, and while Omega might normally, right now she’s definitely not feeling up to it. He’s sensing the tension there, and everyone’s emotions are just setting him on edge, so he’s getting rowdier, more argumentative. He doesn’t mean to be, but he’s upset and he’s struggling.

Next, Hunter is doing what he always does: trying to move on. He’s not ignoring it per se, and I’m not the best at understanding Hunter, but it seems like he’s just trying to keep the team going. And again, it’s more of a challenge without Echo. The fights that used to spark up, Echo would help handle. Or better yet, they wouldn’t be real fights because Wrecker and Tech wouldn’t be so on edge. Hunter is struggling to keep them on track without him, especially with so many other factors at play (Omega being upset, new dangerous mission from Cid, Marauder is gone, how much more can go wrong wait no Mr Filoni please don’t answer that).

And of course, Tech misses Echo. Yeah, he seems really cold and uncaring in this episode at first glance, but OMG that is the furthest from the truth. I honestly think Tech is struggling the most without Echo to fill in that fourth role. Tech always tends to want everything working smoothly, and without the help of a fourth member, Tech is really stretching himself in order to accommodate. And on top of that, he just really misses Echo. When Omega tries to call Echo, Tech immediately knows he won’t respond because his comms are off. And why might he know that?? Well to me it seems like Tech already tried calling him, probably long before Omega did 🥲

Tech in this episode is just at the end of his rope. He’s way less lenient than he might normally be with Echo around, because now he feels like it’s on him to almost be that “second in command”. Normally, Tech can just focus on his work and let the others handle themselves/each other. So when Wrecker drops the case in this episode, normally Tech would trust him to have it handled, and they’d all move on. Instead, Tech takes the case himself. To me this is pretty familiar cause ahem autism, which is a very fitting trait for Mr “I process things differently but I still feel just as much” Tech to have. I struggle to let people get things wrong, and at this point, on edge and pushing himself too hard, Tech is so over it that he decides the only way to get it done is to do it himself.

Edit cause damnit tumblr didn’t save for some reason but basically up until now, we haven’t truly seen how much Echo does for this squad. Yes obviously we’ve seen that they all love and appreciate him, but now that he’s gone we’re truly seeing how important he is, and I just think that’s so so good to see!!! He’s not just the Mom that keeps them from fighting, he’s also just a genuinely necessary and important member with his own role in keeping this squad together.

Basically, ECHO YOU BETTER GET BACK HERE RN I STG—

(no but really, they genuinely do need him 🥲)

So yes, Echo left and the Batch needs Mom back. But it’s not just because Echo was the responsible one with brain cells (although thats also true), it’s also because he is genuinely a necessary part of this group, not just an honorary member to fill in space for Crosshair. We saw in this episode what happens when you take him out of the equation, and it was bad. That right there made just me happy because despite him being gone, it was very clear that nothing would just be “fine” without him, and the batch needs him way more than he probably thinks 🥲🥲🥲

Ok uh I didn’t mean for that to be so long bUT LISTEN, I just think there was so much to that episode and I could talk abt it for HOURS, THEY NEED THEIR BROTHERRRR

He's annoying as all hell in the Dragonpit, swinging his tail at the other dragons, breathing a bit of fire in their direction in order to vex them, snap at the bigger dragons' wings bc he just feels like annoying some dragons that day.

Tried to get Tessarion in on his shenanigans but then she had to leave for Oldtown :(

Had Sunfyre lived and not been injured, he would have been in the Dreamfyre/Caraxes/Meleys size bracket. He was a young dragon but he grew exceptionally fast and he would have grown as big as Meleys within a few more years.

He likes to climb mountains. Like, not fly over them, but put his claws into the rocks and just walk vertically along a mountain. It feels good on his claws.

It was the bond between him and Aegon which kept him alive for so long. He should have died after Rook's Rest but after Jaehaerys' murder, for the first time in both Sunfyre's and Aegon's lives, they felt soul-crushing anguish no being should ever feel. Sunfyre couldn't die before he got his rider what he wanted: Rhaenyra's death. And so Sunfyre stayed alive for so long against all odds because of their bond, because Sunfyre couldn't pass on before he could make Aegon finally find his peace... A part of Aegon was lost when Sunfyre died, because their bond was beyond anything any other Dragonrider had in all of Valyrian history #REAL !!!!!!

Sunfyre truly was the only golden dragon that had ever lived in all of Planetos history. Not a single dragon in all of Valyria was golden-colored.

On the left side of his jaw, at the place where his fleshy neck and bony mandible meet, there is this one place which always itches and Aegon is the only one who knows where to scratch it. When he does, Sunfyre purrs and stretches his entire neck out and also wags his tail.

Sometimes Sunfyre just likes to stand on his hind legs, stretch his torso and arms out, and stay on the ground as he flaps his wings. He doesn't go flying, he just likes to flap his wings and feel the wind rise and also to annoy the people that come close to him.

Sunfyre loves to be close to the sun so he always searches for the highest peak to rest on. However, because the further you are away from the ground, the colder the air gets, so Aegon can't always come along with him because it's just too cold for a human to be that high up.

Likes to fly around meemaw Vhagar's head and nip at her horns. Vhagar never does anything to him except growl and roar when it gets too much.

Sunfyre likes to fold his front paws under his chin and sleep with his head resting on his wings.

He likes to go against everything the Dragonkeepers say. They think it's cause he can't understand them, but actually he understands them perfectly well he just doesn't care about what they want and loves to irritate them. They need to call Aegon in those moments bc he's the only one Sunfyre will listen to even if he pretends not to follow his orders at first.

Aegon always tells him that he is his one and only and Sunfyre understands this sentiment. Whenever Aegon is upset with his family (which is like, all the time) Sunfyre will be the first thing he seeks out. Aegon doesn't have to say anything to Sunfyre for him to know that his rider just wants to get away from it all, so when Aegon is all saddled in, crying because he thinks no one in the world loves him, Sunfyre just takes the reins and flies to wherever Aegon can be alone.

Sometimes he licks Aegon's face lol although his tongue is way too big.

He doesn't like to be stuck in the Dragonpit, he wants to fly free under the sun. Aegon is almost always seen flying him out of King's Landing in the morning, disappears for the entire day, and then comes back late at night when darkness has already fallen over the city.

Sunfyre likes to bump heads with Aegon, especially when he feels Aegon's sadness though their bond.

He has a mean stare and his eyes are a pale red color.

He gets his pink wings from his momma Meleys.

was thinking today abt how luxa and ripred somehow BOND at the end of code of claw and somehow no one,,,, ever,,,, questions it? cause it just creates more questions that literally never ever get answered within the book?

isnt luxa already bonded to aurora? can you bond with more than one person then? what even is the significance of a bond then?

aurora is apparently okay with this but,,, it does not make that much sense really. also, "if you think so, then i can survive it" (luxa to aurora, a little after the bond is made),,, that's. not very,,,,, bondlike or any good prospects for luxa and ripred's bond unless luxa is being sarcastic but i doubt that?

all throughout the series, bonds have always been between humans and fliers. this does make sense because a human and flier duo is pretty great for fighting and survival + travel within the underland, they complement each other. i don't think a human could have that with any other species. (idk how to articulate but like, fliers provide the Flight and humans provide the Attack yk, there's not much a gnawer can provide to a human in that regard if you get what i mean)

also, bonds are sought with someone who have a connection or understanding with. someone whose loss you would actively grieve. luxa and aurora, howard and pandora, hazard and thalia (😭), and so on. i mean,,, a bond is clearly a significant concept within the underland, the breaking of which is literally disastrous (ares being punished with exile before gregor saves the day). if i'm not forgetting anything, the only time a bond breaks is either a betrayal (henry and ares!!! they are a great example of how bond ≠ peace), or your bond dying (howard and pandora).

observing luxa and ripred's dynamic, they do not quite have the understanding that creates a successful bond (Luxa Was Literally Ready To Send Ripred And The Gnawers To The Uncharted Lands, HOW DID THEY BOND™️ LIKE 2 SECONDS LATER??? I reread that part just now and I lost several braincells, just to confirm if I was right. Anyway). i just. don't see how luxa could say that treaties have failed,,,, a bond can fail too?

especially considering how badly henry's betrayal affected luxa throughout the series, it just feels,,,, Not Right to see luxa doing this when henry's bond with ares failed? like, would she not have considered this before placing so much faith in a bond between her and ripred?

unless there is actual magic involved, nothing really guarantees that luxa and ripred's bond will preserve peace or anything. bonds in tuc seem to be more of a cultural/interpersonal tradition of high significance as opposed to an actual magical construct with any weight that ISN'T assigned by cultural/personal association.

Overall feeling about this episode is that I think it might be one of my least favourites of the season. I didn't dislike it but with how good the others have been, this episode didn't stand out a whole lot to me.

There were specific moments that I absolutely love though! Wholesome Batch moments just hit me right in the feels. 🥲

And Wrecker's "I'm working on it" reminded me of Echo in Season 1. 😭 I still miss that man.

Weirdly, I don't feel like I have much to say about this episode right now. There's some more stuff delving into the idea of kids not being able to just be kids in this galaxy, so I'm happy they're continuing on that narrative. I maybe would've liked to have seen a little bit more from the other miners? I don't know.

Normally when I watch an episode, one or two particular things sticks out to me as something I want to talk about more but I didn't really get that much from this episode. Think I may just have to sit on it for a few days and see what comes to mind.

Still liked the episode, but I definitely think that the first half of this two-parter was much stronger. Very excited to see what Metamorphosis is going to be about though! My hope is to see Echo and Rex again, but that's more wishful thinking than me believing it's actually going to happen. 😅

Edit: This was supposedly a breather episode, so that may explain why it fell a little flat for me. I think I got really hooked up in the more high-stakes episodes and that swayed my judgement on this one. 🤔

If your Oc Nüwa, was canon, how would fandom interpret and misinterpret?

Would she be a popular character?

Hey there anon, thank you for this question!! I never really considered this before, and never really thought her to be a character that could ever be considered canon - what I mean by this is that some people have done a great job at making their OCs so that they could actually be canon, but that isn't what I did with Nüwa lmao. Her and her story are very specifically an alternate universe haha but it's interesting to imagine the audience reception to her if she was a canon character!

The AOT fandom is famously, uh... a toxic wasteland 😭 so I unfortunately don't think the fandom consensus on Nüwa would be particularly positive at first 🥲 Firstly, the most obvious issue - she and Levi will enter a romantic relationship at some point, and we all know how the fandom is when it comes to the ship wars surrounding Levi's character 😭 I wasn't around in the fandom's early days, but I know the fandom treated Petra horribly, especially the reader-insert community, which is really disappointing and unfortunate. I know everyone's a lot better about it now, but back in the day, she got so much hate for literally just being in Levi's general proximity 😭 and even today, almost every character who gets shipped with Levi gets some sort of hate from other shipping factions who ship Levi with somebody else. So I can imagine there would be a lot of backlash if Nüwa really existed in canon, especially when AOT S1 was first airing and getting popular.

(EDIT: I hit the post button instead of edit RIP, anyways I wanted to add in that because Nüwa enters a lavender marriage with a nobleman, some time before ACWNR, fans might not like that because it could be interpreted as 'leading Levi on', even though she had no idea that Levi had any feelings for her nor was she aware of her own feelings; and the nobleman she marries is gay anyway so it isn't a proper love triangle, plus she doesn't leave Levi in the dark about this situation when this is happening, she makes it clear that this is a marriage of convenience and not because she actually loves that nobleman, but some fans would take issue with her for doing this and just misinterpret everything she does out of jealousy, just like they did with Petra 🥲)

I would say that because Nüwa isn't a Survey Corps soldier, she is going to get less screen-time if the script stays similar to canon. My fic follows her closely so at first, it does cover events that canon doesn't touch upon that much, and maybe the greater fanbase might not care as much for her plot line since it isn't directly related to the main story that focuses on the Survey Corps soldiers. You know how there's always that one plot line in a show or book that isn't as connected to the main plot? Some people might not really vibe with that and think, 'oh let's get back to the action already I want to see what the Scouts are up to!!!' I hope that wouldn't be the case but I think there would be at least a few people that would think this way 🥲

But I do think there would be some fans that would like her from the get go - revenge stories are always fun to witness, and there's a certain charm in a character who doesn't use brute force to get their way, but rather their wits; this is how Nüwa operates. Fans who enjoy political intrigue, scheming, and are good at understanding morally grey characters would like her storyline. The 'I support women's rights but more importantly I support women's wrongs' audience would also definitely enjoy watching her do her thing. (I'm absolutely a part of that audience lmaoooo. You know what they say about writing what you want to see 😂). So some fans would be firm in defending her from antis.

But unfortunately I also think there would be the weird anime dudebros ™️ who would either hate her for the very same traits that they would praise in male characters and misinterpret all of her actions in bad faith. Especially since she and Erwin have a lot of friction in the fallout from ACWNR, which is exacerbated by the first restoration expedition, when civilian refugees were sent out into titan territory (aka the culling). She, who wants to stand up for those refugees as her Underground upbringing makes her especially empathetic to their struggle, would be justifiably wary of the military as a whole. Because of the tension between her and Erwin (which doesn't entirely fade even when the two do become friends over time), there'd be some discourse surrounding that situation. 'Why isn't she immediately supportive of the Survey Corps, when they want to find out the truth just like her?? Erwin is on her side and his genius and vision is what humanity needs, why is she acting like that towards him??? She's being unreasonable.' and other statements like that 💀 I think they wouldn't agree with her wanting to prioritise helping the underprivileged and changing society (aka focusing on the internal problem), rather than defeating titans (which is seemingly an external problem and this is presented initially as the main, most pressing problem, before we discover the finer details of what is truly going on.) Basically the dudebros would absolutely get on Nüwa's case for the way she behaves and the things she does even though they would be way more understanding if she was a male character. Misogyny takes many forms 🥲🥲 (I'm well aware not all Erwin stans are like this, I myself really like him as a character before anyone gets on my case, I'm just talking about the dudebros with no media literacy and I'm using this whole hypothetical situation as an example, okay?? 🥲 I hope I'm making sense here)

I like to think the greater part of the fandom would eventually warm up to her though? In a similar way to how the Levi x Reader community largely no longer hates Petra and we all recognise that hating her is nonsensical at the very least. (In this household we respect and love Petra Ral!!) With time, as the fandom matures, I like to think the fans would mature, most would stop attacking her over ships, and they'd at least understand Nüwa's perspectives and that she's reasonably flawed but still sympathetic if you think about her motivations and why she behaves the way she does. (I hope they'd think she's well written as well, we'll see later if my writing skills are any good at this lol) Discourse would always surround her because of the nature of shipping wars, unfortunately, even if that discourse gets quieter or happens in less obvious places. That would never change 😭

You've also got me thinking about what the fandom would think of Odelia as well, if she was canon... less outrage, I think, but not immune either - especially in Season 4 when she's very outspoken about her opinions on the Jaegerists. The fans on Eren's side would definitely lump her in with the rest of the Alliance as 'traitors'. Once again misogyny takes many forms). But yeah I think she'd be less 'controversial' in the fandom than Nüwa would be, I think the fans would be more sympathetic to her from the get go. She is paired with Jean later on in the story and I know that Jean has his fair share of ships with other characters, but the ship wars are nowhere near as intense as the Levi ship wars from what I've seen, so I think it wouldn't be as bad.

TLDR - it's complicated and depends on which section of the fandom you focus on XD and it's a good thing Nüwa isn't canon lol

I have a blurb abt their dynamic in my carrd (and also all my other ovw ships/etc), but I'll include the blurb + some other notes under the cut (cw for some suggestive talk maybe?):

Blurb from my carrd (somewhat outdated, wrote this in like march or sth & i kinda softened their dynamic a bit):

Mercy/Roadrat -> she's mostly just friends/begrudging acquaintances. She finds them exasperating. The three of them slept together like once or twice for some reason. (????) Occasionally is a little patronizing toward them, especially Junkrat. Despite her frustrations w them she worries abt them and their health & wants the best for them. Tends to be more earnest around Roadhog, thinks a little more highly of him than Junkrat. Junkrat is kinda oblivious that she finds him exhausting and is mostly friendly to her, tho he thinks it's annoying when she lectures him. Roadhog trusts her and generally agrees with her, but finds her kind of pretentious and a killjoy.

Other things:

◇ Junkrat mainly hangs out w Mercy when Roadhog's away on a mission + d.va and lúcio aren't around

◇ junkrat & mercy sometimes do random frivilous stuff together like spa days, watching trashy movies, getting dressed up, going to cafes/bakeries (lmao??? Listen idk)

◇ Junkrat has kind of an earnest crush on Mercy; Mercy doesn't have the same feelings; they don't rly talk about it much & their relationship is mostly friendship

◇ I don't think Junkrat rly flirts w Mercy tho, he mainly lets her make any advances if she feels like it (??)

◇ Mercy & Roadhog have like a mutual trust but they don't really hang out much? Mercy thinks Roadhog's like immensely cool™️ but she'd never admit that to him lmao;;

◇ mercy & roadhog work pretty well together on missions; but if Junkrat's there too, roadhog's more inclined to follow Junkrat's lead which can cause leadership tension (since mercy tends to act as leader on missions)

◇ Roadhog thinks Mercy's corny but tolerable & trusts her medical advice

◇ Roadhog's not attracted to Mercy & loves to act like a little hater around her (esp when she and Junkrat are trying to like impress him or wtv), but he actually finds her efforts kinda entertaining lmao

◇ despite all her complaints abt the two of them Mercy earnestly trusts their expertise in fighting and mechanics (<latter is mainly junkrat)

◇ Junkrat & Roadhog do occasionally have a little bit of animosity toward her (or mainly toward overwatch) for being less sympathetic (? Or kinda just patronizing or not fully understanding) to junkers/life in the outback post-omnium explosion, tho this kinda happens in bouts idk (? Not rly sure how to explain what im imagining)

Comics/scenes I wanna draw sometime but may or may not:

◇ Junkrat asking Mercy to teach him how to dance so he can woo Roadhog at some holiday party or sth (??)

◇ Junkrat talking to Mercy abt his apprehension w getting healthy & aging, & how it relates to his relationship w roadhog (also partially abt Mercy's struggle w treating the two them)

◇ Junkrat, Roadhog, and Mercy go on a mission together where they infiltrate a casino (???)

◇ junkrat & mercy eating at a cafe together (??? Lmao idk)

Hey Knight how do you feel about Ash and Iris from the anime? At least what you know about them, since I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned watching BW

For me I see them as those friends that are like siblings towards each other, especially because Iris and Ash always teased each other in BW and JN

Although whenever I try look at content about them 70% of what I find is just “Ash hates Iris cause she always called him a kid”…which is stupid cause she’s teasing him like kids do

But one thing I love about them is that they’re both Champions. Ash has something he can relate with towards Iris that he doesn’t with his other friends. They both know what it’s like to hold such a title at a young age

Last thing, but I like to think that whenever they meet up, whether it’s by coincidence, annual champion meetings, or something else, they’ve ALWAYS got to battle each other. Doesn’t matter the situation, it’s like they get the Cain instinct™️ everything they see each other

Your honour pls they are siblings for me chmxxj like ofc since Ash was really supposed to be Alola champ in my hcs, my dynamic for him w Iris is that they're siblings y'know; they always got each other's backs, they're always so supportive of each other, they tease each other but y'know that's normal, and you are so right if they don't battle immediately after they see each other they're gonna fucking combust lmfaooo

Anyways yeah even I see posts abt how some peeps are like low-key projecting too bc yeah Iris calls Ash a kid so she's a shit character they say and I'm like?? Mfer they're kids what do you fucking expect that's how kids are hcmdndn and also, I remember seeing a post back then on how the reason Iris is like that in the anime bc people in her school kinda looked down on her and saw how different she was and acted more of a kid than them, which was understandable bc she was a kid during those times so ofc she's gonna act like one

So for her to feel some semblance of control in her life, that yeah she's not just a kid, she calls Ash kid bc she knows the way Ash acts is how she always acted back then which caused people to not like her and your honour I think abt this from time to time it just cjdmbd Iris deserves a hug man

Anyways pls your honour you are so right they're siblings😭😭 like I had this one concept of them back then y'know, that one time Iris accidentally called Diantha mom and she panicked and ran away, and Ash was the only one who knew where she was bc he just knows just where Iris would hide during times like this, and he's there trying to comfort her, also telling her that one time he accidentally called Kukui dad as well and ough,,, ough your honour it's just soft bcmdhdns

Also it would be so funny if these two just,,, attract anything main anime character related things fucking imagine Ash saying he met Giratina once and he was nice and then Iris going that Kyurem is also nice too and they just try to summon Giratina for him to meet Kyurem, Cynthia has never been so stressed in her life lmfaooo homegirl just vibing with the other Champions, sees these dark clouds over Mt. Coronet and just fucking grabs Dia and begs her for her Gardevoir to teleport them there right the fuck NOW

Imagine as the others got there they see Ash and Iris feeding Giratina and Kyurem poffins😭🤣

But y'know this makes me think now how Ash is like in my hcs bc I did change a lot of stuff in my hcs from the actual games/anime/manga, it would be cool to see him as a wandering trainer always out to battle anyone and be stronger to be the master he always dreamt he'd be, maybe less main protag things and such if that makes sense hahah
