i have some brain rot about the delmonts so i’m gonna unload my thoughts about it here: the boys with a stripper/pole dancer darling.

to me, how they feel about it/react is on a spectrum and it’s easier to write like that so walk with me

ricky is (imo, so maybe i’m wrong) one of the least likely of the bros to go voluntarily to a place like this. it’s just not really his scene and he finds the environment to be superficial. but when one of his business partners on meeting at a strip club (to avoid any rivals hearing in on their deal) he begrudgingly goes solely with the goal of sealing this deal/partnership, saving face by showing up, and then heading out. he’s largely uninterested in the girls until one of the men he’s dealing with calls over y/n to give ricky a private show. to commemorate the deal you know? what no one, not even ricky, would think would happen is how quickly and hard he becomes down BAD for y/n. the moment he laid eyes on her in her little red number that accentuated her best features (which is all of them in ricky’s opinion), he knew he was a total goner. and the little hi and giggle that y/n gives him before grabbing his larger hand in hers to lead him to the room? yeah, no doubt, he would be coming back to this place as often as he could, and only ask for y/n.

caspian/gabe are sweet and nice boys who doesn’t usually go to these types of places because they drink respect women juice and don’t want to objectify women like that (mom would kill them), but when his friends invite him for a celebration/bachelor’s party, he plans on popping in, getting a drink, and dipping before they notice he’s gone. but he doesn’t account for how spellbound he would be when y/n comes out in her skimpy outfit (coincidence that it’s his favorite color? he doesn’t think so) with fuck me heels that could poke a man’s eye out. when earned it by the weeknd starts playing and y/n starts her little routine, he knows that he needs to know every single thing about her like yesterday. his friends notice how infatuated he is with her and call y/n to come over for a lap dance for the big guy. he has to play it cool and focuses all of his energy in not getting hard while y/n grinds on his lap and shove her chest in face. yeah the obsession process got speed run by 5 million steps with the way she worked her magic on him.

marcos/manny are on the opposite end of the spectrum compared to ricky. anywhere there’s a good time to be had, they’ll be there. an abandoned warehouse in the seedy part of town? if there’s good drinks and music, one of them, if not both, are there in a heartbeat. they’ve been to strip clubs and they actually think it’s fun! anyways, they have some friends who are independently wealthy (translation: they sell drugs, in the business of killing people, or other shady stuff), so they get to go some nice clubs/venues. it’s at one of these venues where some hired strippers they got for the party - both guys and girls - start performing. marcos/manny are having as much as anyone else in the party, but it wasn’t anything to write home about for him. that is, until y/n comes out in very strategically placed strings and mesh. he doesn’t know what to do with himself when y/n starts the routine with do i wanna know by arctic monkeys (slowed down). what he DOES know is that he will be buying her a drink to get to know her inside (if he plays his cards right-) and out.

sorry for the long ranting, but i’ve been listening to a lot of those kinds of songs while doing homework, and the idea was rattling around in my head. hope you’re doing well <3

just rewatched s2 in its entirety back to back tonight (of course I've been rewatching each week's episodes every single day lmao) and just a few thoughts:

while I think the episodes do split out well by tone into the groupings they gave us weekly, they also definitely flow very well into each other and the pacing between and within the episodes seems much more normal upon review

I still think eps 1-3 are the best of the whole season and the entire series, they are like a mini-season unto themselves, and they're imo some of the best television I've watched in recent years

I can definitively say Red Flags is my favorite episode, followed by Fun and Games, then The Innkeeper

yeah Red Flags literally gives me chills, that episode has me on the edge of my seat the entire time. also taika's committing crimes looking that good in that ep

"ALL LOVE DIES, I'M JUST HASTENING THE PROCESS" is still one of the most badass lines i s2g

Izzy's death comes across as totally fine and not anything overly surprising when all the eps are put together, it made sense and flowed well

Similarly what I initially felt was too long an absence of Ricky and Zheng didn't feel like nearly as long when the eps are watched together

I do see where a couple more episodes would have given them breathing room to explore Ed and Stede's dynamic post ep5, I think maybe one between eps 5 and 6, and then between 7 and 8. but it's not a big deal. like I said everything flows well, I just wish there was more of it

Same with Zheng, I would have liked to see more plot with her, instead of just her relationship with Olu; I think they set up something really cool in ep 2 with her fleet heading over land, would have been neat to have her in a subplot where she does more pirating. But we'll probably get that in s3 as well so it's fine

I really love how many kiwi comedian cameos we got, it's really one big acting family over there for Taika and Rhys, and I know if they get season 3 (WHEN they get it) they'll film there again and it will be awesome

Next I plan to start over on season 1 and segue right into s2. I do so miss the lighthouse symbolism, but I wonder if Stede left behind the lighthouse imagery when he left his old life, same as Ed leaving behind the kraken when Izzy died. still thinking through some of that. Can't wait to hear folks' thoughts once things settle down. now time to campaign for renewal!!

just finished binging the entirety of high school musical: the musical: the series in six days and now i'm going to ramble about it for longer than anyone would care to read. it's gonna be generally positive but definitely nini and olivia unfriendly so if you dont wanna read that... dont ♥️♥️

so i suggested to my sister a while ago that i wanted to watch the show bc the videos that youtube commentary channel "pretty much it" did for it were hysterical. and she had watched the first couple of eps by herself and was like "i dont think you'll like it. its not as funny as they make it seem". but we finally decided to start it anyway

(also i dont know the entire casts' real names so i'll mostly refer to them as their character names)

season 1:

that first season was kind of rough. especially the pilot. it got better over time but its definitely my least favorite season over all. im not even a fan of high school musical so it lacked the nostalgia enjoyment for me

and i definitely did not like nini and her main character syndrome. and sorry to say but i think olivia is the least talented cast member over all. pretty privilege is so real like she didnt deserve to be the break out star she was just the most marketable. kourtney and ashlyn's voices were so strong and stellar, and they might not've been Dancers but they could definitely move. and gina was the best dancer in the fucking world and while i do think her voice wasnt as good, she could obviously still sing. nini's best talent moments were when olivia was shining thru imo (that one taking it for gra-a-a-anted song comes to mind first) but i was not here for the acoustic numbers and honestly i dont think she was a great actress

so i definitely wasnt a fan of the whole nini ricky gina ej love square. i know its a tried and true teen show staple but goddamn it got tiring. i just never liked rini and i didnt like how nini treated him right from the start asklfjlds. she was also rude as hell to everyone else, especially gina, being all passive aggressive towards her. literally saying she wanted to kick gina in the face bc gina is a good dancer and she's intimidated?? but also all the talk in general about gina being intimidating or aggressive or a bad seed like ??? the microaggressions were off the charts

not to mention the fucking macroaggression of kourtney's entire s1 "character". i think hattie mcdaniel had a more nuanced role in gone with the wind. it was so fucking painful to watch. she didnt exist to be anything other than nini's personal soundboard, cheerleader, stylist, life coach, and whatever else she needed in the moment. thank god they gave her a real character by s2 bc kourtney was way too talented, too gorgeous, too charismatic to be forced into the role of nini's handmaid the whole time

i dont really have much to say about s1 cause i wasnt into it at the time lol. it was okay. all the actors did a good job, it was kind of funny, the only song that really stood out was miss jenn's fantasy sequence song with lucas. the actually high school musical show they put on was painful to watch but thats high school theater for you babyyy

season 2:

this was such an improvement from s1 and my favorite season over all. there were a handful of eps in the middle where i was constantly like "this is my fave ep" "ok this is my fave ep" "ok now THIS is my fave ep" it was a delight. i love beauty and the beast and was so happy for ashlyn getting belle, and everyone else was very well cast. although idk why seb was chip and not cogsworth?? my sister said it was bc disney didnt want to confirm that they were gay 💔💔

the music was obviously better bc we've got fucking alan menken on the track. all the numbers from the show were perfect. i wish ej had gotten to sing the gaston reprise bc he didnt get to reach his full gaston potential and i think we deserved that 💔

the debacle with the whole rose song was sooo annoying. nini deserved to be that fork. she dragged the whole show down like it was always so much better when she wasnt there aklfjlksd

the rivalry with the other school was lots of fun. i liked all the new characters. my favorite original song was miss jenn's number with derek hough

season 3:

this season was likeee a pleasant mid for me??? idk it was fine and fun but it didnt have anything in it that blew me away. i think this season was screaming for extra episodes more than any other, since we were missing a chunk of the cast. we deserved to cut back to salt lake every now and again and see what the non-camp-goers were up to

kourtney and gina as elsa and anna was a dream. not the biggest fan of frozen but they did a good job. everyone looked so cute in their costumes and kourtney's solo was amazinggg. the new characters were fun but i dont have strong feelings towards them lol. but i loved getting to explore kourtney's character and her struggles with anxiety, that was very real

them filming a documentary was funny bc have they not been filming one this whole time? my headcanon was that the to-the-camera interviews were all in their heads and everyone was practicing for when they became famous lol but then ricky ruined that in s4 by acknowledging them directly rip 💔

i liked after their show ended and they all got sharpies and wrote their names on the walls back stage. that was definitely a potent theater kid memory and got me a lil teary eyed

i liked ej taking on the role of director and copying miss jenn's hand holding and high pitched singing at the first read thru. i liked ej and gina together i thought they were cute. it was disappointing that the show wouldnt commit to them for even a minute and they always had to be teetering on the edge between being a couple and not. that was frustrating

and girl just get nini out of there already. olivia wanted nini to be there as much as i did. she was sooo over it by s3

umm favorite original song was corbin bluh's basketball song

season 4:

very very fun season again. loved the chaos of filming the movie at the school while school is happening. as if every movie set in a real school doesnt shoot in the summer. oh well. gotta have a season!

there was too much mack for me personally. i dont think he gave wanted they wanted to be given. i needed more dani tho. her actress was so good at bad acting. she couldve been a much bigger comedic presence also she looked like a cross between sofia carson and emma roberts but sometimes just looked like a latina emma roberts ??? is that just me??

and still the lack of seb and big red at the beginning like ?? did they specifically piss off the writers so they had to banish them for nearly half the show?

loved that the little girl from camp was there. she stole the show. and maddox and jet are fine alskfjsldk i just didnt form strong opinions on them but i do like them

ashlyn's "i need to give her mouth to mouth! AS A FRIEND!" was the funniest line of the entire show hands down

so happy they finally had a halloween episode! it was lots of fun and everyone looked so cute in their costumes uwu. but that guy from camp that was stalking carlos??? that was so bizarre and it never paid off likeee what was the reason

and gina's mom was pissing us off so bad. she was acting wild this season. like gina has to focus on her studies so no boys but she can work from sun up to sun down on a movie lmao. and her mom had the nerve to be like "well i never came to your shows bc that was just high school theater but THIS is a movie" like wooow. and i swear it felt like she was about to sell gina off to mack bc he was famous. and when she started with that "porters dont wait around" mess and ricky cleared her with a quickness with that whole "well i seem to remember gina waiting around for you on opening night" like damn

and omg when mack was over for dinner and ricky came over with chocolates but saw him thru the window. i was like ugh fuck its gonna be the stupid thing where he sees this and gets the wrong idea and its gonna be a stupid wedge between him and gina that doesnt need to be there bc no one can communicate BUT THEN gina sees him outside and runs to him and i think i screamed bc i was so relieved aslkjskl but their kiss was very cinematic and cute ♥️♥️

and omg on sunday night im sitting there trudging thru s1 like "yeah starting this might've been a mistake" and by friday im bawling my eyes out bc the story is ending 💔💔 sofia deserved the whole fucking egot and a golden globe too for that scene at the end. and i was SO invested in her acting career and like pleading with the show for her not to pass on it and stay at school but fucking genius that she is found a way to do both!!!

and i honestly didnt know what i wanted miss jenn to do like i was rooting for her both ways but of course she staaayed. and the show ended and it had the "skip credits" button and my sister was like "oh there's something after the credits?" and then i saw "for good" listed at the end of the songs and i screamed again. and was bawling again when everyone was singing that. who knew this silly little show would have such a death grip on me by the end???

so over all it was really very good and not a waste of time. i liked pretty much every character and it was just a lot of fun! would definitely watch it again

my over all season ranking would be two, four, three, and one is dead ass last

my favorite characters from the start were gina, miss jenn, carlos, ashlyn, and big red lowkey alskfjdskl. kourtney got up there in s2 and beyond. and i do really like ricky, ej, seb, they're my secondary faves. (kinda wish ricky had more to do bc aside from his parents, i feel like every single one of his issues had to do with a love triangle and i just wish the character was granted a little more texture) and the camp kids were good, they were fine, they're like third-iary faves. and the only ones i dislike are gina's mom and nini lol

and i wasnt like screaming over any ships but generally i liked them all except rini. ej and gina was cute, i liked ashlyn and maddox, i liked ashlyn and big red, carlos and seb probably were my faves if i had to pick, i liked kourtney with howie (wish we saw him again) and jet, and yes by the end i was rooting for rina they just won me over this season and were super cute and im glad they ended where they did ♥️

I’ve read most of the mangas so I think I’m gonna rank them all since nobody asked for it. I haven’t read the tp manga just yet and I’m not including the skyward sword Hyrule hystoria manga for the sake of my sanity (and the mangas that are one story separated into two books are counted as one except for oracle of ages and seasons)

1. Four sword- the characters are so fun and are great to play around with. Shows perfectly how important characters are to a story. They had to give each Link a defining personality different from each other and the way they bounce off each other was just so much fun. Not to mention the dynamic with shadow was interesting and adding a father to Link was also fun to read. And I was fond of this Zelda! A more sweet character but could also roast you if needed. I liked how she fought with her words more than anything else.

2. Oracle of ages- again, great character dynamics and a very interesting story! It wasn’t the damsel in distress trope so it was more refreshing to read than the others. And sir raven is just… a perfect man. Also Impa my beloved

3. Majoras Mask- the way this was written was so beautiful. The weird spookiness from the game was perfectly captured (for this being released without playing the game, that’s impressive) and the story was so… sad yet wonderful. The emphasis on loss and death just kinda makes it somber. And Skull kid’s backstory legitimately makes me want to cry everytime I read it. Poor kid :( the ending was epic too, gosh I loved watching Link put on the FD mask and going ape 💩 cuz of the righteous anger he feels towards majora, and him condemning the Happy mask salesman was also nice. You can tell this Link matured from oot. Also Kafei and Anju were so pure.

4. Oracle of seasons- I really enjoyed the beginning of this! Sometimes the mangas are so short that everything feels incredibly rushed and chaotic but this one was more chill! I mean, we saw Link hang out with the traveling performers for a while, a lot longer than I expected, and it really helped the pacing a lot. I also liked the characters Link hung out with. Ricky, Maple, and the chicken had fun dynamics! Overall, much better pacing than the others.

5. Ocarina of time- this one was pretty great, I loved how Sheik was written, he was the most interesting part of the story imo. I also loved Link, very kind and gentle but sometimes mischievous and just a great guy. Very determined. My only issue is how Zelda was written. I loved her in the beginning wanting to be a normal little girl, but naturally, as any Zelda with an alter ego, she fell short compared to Sheik, who was fantastic. And these stories can’t go 5 seconds without a damsel in distress so. But I liked it! And I liked the side characters! The whole Lon Lon ranch thing was fun too! Also Impa my ABSOLUTE beloved

6. Phantom hourglass- A more simple story but a fun one. Loved Ciela and Linebeck’s dynamic and the style was so fun. Also the ending was better written than the game imo. This is the only licensed Nintendo thing made that didn’t do tetra DIRTY. She was the girlboss she was meant to be, and tho she needed to be saved, she had a much different personality than the other Zelda’s so it felt less redundant. And not to mention, she acted more like a capable captain in the end and it was SO GOOD. I also personally liked that Bellum went after the ocean king, that was a cool scene too see. Shame it ended so quickly. My only issue is not enough Dadbeck 😔

7. Minish cap- this one was pretty fun! But I wasn’t a huuuuge fan of how Link was written. But he was tiny the entire time and it was adorable, and the ending was so bittersweet . Also Minish Vaati was adorable, honestly all the Minish were adorable. There’s just not a lot to say about it tho. Nothing really stuck out to me. Zelda had the same personality as every other Zelda so not much to say about her either.

8. A Link to the Past- not the best story. It’s not a rereadable story and it’s kinda boring. I adore Link’s personality and lbl legend is based after him, but the other characters were more eh. I liked the thief girl a little. But my biggest gripe was Zelda. I feel like Zelda’s in these mangas are all written the same but she’s written differently in a bad way. Apparently she was made more soft for romance but that just made her flat, boring, and also annoying. There were a lot of interesting characteristics to be done with her personality tho, but it wasn’t done. Which is a shame. But I did like the ending. It was very sweet (again, Link is an absolute sweetheart).

there was a lot of ableism in the chat (I do discuss what it entails below so you’ve been warned) so I was distracted at the end of the stream

-Karnak’s frantic tone during the accident + freeze frame moment, very cool

-them holding up the prizes

-Constance’s mumbled “sorry”

-post-possession Noel and Mischa stuff is so good (the o.e face and shoulder shake)

-I don’t like Ricky’s disability being stolen again, but I do like the fact that they’re happy that he’s happy, seems to be “bro”ing it up with Mischa a bit, I do love that

-JANE! (OVERANALYZES LIKE CRAZY) The way she tips her head a lot like it doesn’t fit her body comfortably. She sounds so timid…awww, honey…she moves a bit like her body is off-balance from the new head, I love the details

-I see evidence of platonic (at least) spacedolls already. Ricky waved at Jane!!!

-BREASTMILK CHEESE SANDWICH EATING BLEGH

-even in the “ocean’s life” segment Jane’s movements are just a BIT off. I think it’s cool when the Jane is taller in the cast, makes me think of a Barbie/pos

Poor gal seems real uncomfy in those lenses tho, can’t blame her

-all of the cast looks like they’re having the time of their life

-Mischa’s mannerisms are already cracking me up

-I am appreciating Noel very much in this production tbh, very sharp-tongued and excellent emoting in the face

-Jane’s delivery of That One Line (I hear it gives you an—)

-despite the small theatre and tech limits because of that, they really do well getting the point across with the props

-gosh props to Noel that change takes too long even in the main show, but he works it

-RICKY’S LIL SHIMMY IN THE BEGINNING OF NOEL’S LAMENT AND HE SEEMS TO ACTUALLY BE PLAYING ACCORDION!!!

-CAN ALL MISCHAS EVERYWHERE STOP BEING SO PRETTY, RESPECTFULLY!!

-THAT NOIR FILM IN THE BACK, I LOVE!

-these dances are so fun!

-they seem to be sort of un-possessed in TSIA, and Mischa seems a bit more friendly in this production so I think that fits decently

-I love how they try to make it like he can’t remember his rap—or can he actually not remember? Either way they played it off like it was on purpose and I appreciate that

-interesting how Jane’s a stand-in for Talia, cuz she could be anyone, she’s a blank body sorta

-I love the dances so so much, how they seem to be fencing Mischa in, and HE SINGS SO WELL, they did their best with the projector and got it across

-The way he just SITS DOWN AWWWW HON HE LOOKS SO SAD

-NOEL AND MISCHA HUG? NOEL AND MISCHA HUG!!!! AWWWWW IM CRYIN they seem so genuine about that whole part! person I’ve tagged said they noticed Mischa is audibly crying for quite a bit, poor dear

-Mischa and Jane acting like generally strange parents and tHE FAKE ACTION SCENES which I genuinely think should have been in the original

-the implication that zolar daydreams came from food poisoning, this poor lad, I know it’s not exclusive to this version but dang

-this Ricky is just very captivating, I think this is a part that takes a lot of…uhhh, chutzpah, to play

-hehe I love that Mischa is Count Dogula

-also that black hole sound frequency reference made me so happy (“68 octaves below the middle C”)

-this Mischa has ADHD imo and I live for it

-they really worked with what they had for the background on Jane’s song. The way she blends into the scenery fits. That’s what she’s been doing this whole show. Also her trying so hard to grab her memory box and it’s always out of reach ;A;

-HER VOICE IS EXCELLENT this is impressing me in a bigger way than I thought it would

-the shadows moving!!! the way she can kind of recall knowing them, but not enough to know their faces or names

-the circling with the lights does make me think she’s falling, and the fact that she’s holding an umbrella…and sounds like she’s crying at the end…she’s so alone dude, I care her

-that last note was like a final scream

-Noel and Jane interaction!!! something I never see!!! I love it!

Do I have criticism? Uhhh well it wasn’t perfect but hey, from what I saw they didn’t have a ton to work with (nobody’s fault there) and they used their resources well.

I also constantly have to remind myself of the fact that this show has a cast of at most eight people acting, and it makes sense that it’s difficult to remember all of your lines, and the fact that everybody has a solo song!!!

I dream of some day playing an alto Jane, although I doubt it will ever happen, but I’m not sure I’m talented enough to do with this cast attempted

Contrary to popular belief, not all portwells hate rina; i certainly don't, but my problem is mostly with timing. The season 2 arc was so unnecessary to me. The season 3 arc for rina could've been done in season 2, but the other way around, as in, instead of Gina being the one in the relationship, it could've been ricky. Her just being a great friend to Ricky while he was in a relationship, and them just being like besties, and when rini eventually went wrong do the whole rina arc that was done in s3.

I don't hate rina's arc in s3. I kind of really liked how cute their friendship was, how they laughed and they were so comfortable around each other. However, I only ever thought of them as good friends because for Ricky, Gina was his third choice. He chose Nini and, God forbid, LILY before even considering Gina. He didn't think about how all his comments were affecting Gina in s2. Of course they weren't on purpose, he's not a sociopath, but that doesn't take away the consequences his actions had. The fact that he didn't mean to hurt her, doesn't mean he didn't hurt her, or that it was justified.

By doing the rina arc in s3, they hurt EJ's character so horribly, they changed his development to seem like the bad guy again, even though he was far from it, and made Gina be apathetic towards him, even though her character is very much the opposite. The couch scene proved that Gina is extremely empathetic, she doesn't quite understand what he's going through but she listen and empathizes. We didn't see all that much of that in s3.

Yes, it was fair of Gina to put herself first with her relationship with EJ, and vocalize how she felt that she was being second to everything else in his life, but imo that development has no meaning if she goes back to the guy who put literally everything and everyone else before her in the past. Sure, he's been decent for the past 2 weeks, big deal, he's been making her cry for the past YEAR.

Honestly, at this point, for the sake of Gina's development, she should just be single. If EJ wasn't meeting her needs and she didn't think they fit anymore, that's totally fine, couples decide they're better off as friends all the time, but don't make her go back to the guy who has treated her like a maybe for the whole year. The guy who only reconsidered the idea of liking her after 2 of his relationships went south and he had no one else to crush on. Ricky's a great guy, he should just not be with Gina.

He doesn't deserve to be with Gina, after the way he has treated her.

Character ask Maddox?

**I started this project pre-season 4, so all answers are for season 3 and earlier**

Favorite thing about them: Maddox has been through a lot of loss. Whether intentional or unintentional, she had to grieve the loss of her brother as a friend, lost Madison (who she seemed really connected to) and lost a lot of friends. Despite it all, she still found a way to come to camp, put on a brave face, and keep showing up. She did what she could to push past the Jet issues (which she still definitely cared about him, like when he left camp) and she put her all into the play/being a major part of camp. Her resiliency is admirable because a lot of people would not give camp a second chance after the stuff she went through… but she did. 🥹

Least favorite thing about them: this might be a really hot take, but I don’t like how much she pushed Ashlyn to come out s3. Coming out is such a personal thing and you would think that after she had such a bad experience thinking Jet outted her, that she would be really respectful of other people’s sexualities, but at one point she loud and proud basically told Ashlyn she was gay when Ashlyn still hadn’t figured it out. It was just… inconsiderate at best and hypocritical at worst?

brOTP: Maddox and Gina (I love sayso irl, but this actually has nothing to do with it. I think Gina stood up quite a bit for Maddox, reflecting Ricky/jet’s relationship. When no one else seemed to like Maddox, Gina was willing to give her a chance. I wish we would have seen more side by side scenes of Ricky/jet and Gina/Maddox… like this post I made about how I wish the “Right Place” scene would have played out. It would have driven home how the four had symbiotic sort of relationships with each other, each character a valuable piece in every arc and how rina further parallel each other, even when separated).

Something I expect from them season 4 (if applicable): Before s4 happened, I remember anticipating that Madlyn was going to be a will they/won’t they type thing where we got hints to them but that they were never officially made canon. I really assumed Ashlyn was going to still be finding herself by the end of the show with like, some massive hint at Madlyn (such as Ashlyn sliding Maddox her number). I was very wrong lol

Random Headcanon: Everyone is confused about Maddox and Jet’s age right? So I actually have two personal theories about this. One: they are twins, which is why they are so similar in age. Two: they are step or half siblings that just call their mom and dad “mom and dad” because they’ve been around each other so long. IMO I think they are half siblings, which is why genetically they share some traits but not all. They were raised by the same parents (maybe Maddox’s IRL dad sucks or something so they were both born to the same mom, but have different dads), so they just call them both “mom and dad”. I have family members that do this so it doesn’t feel like reaching too much for me

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t find Maddox better than Red for Ashlyn. I think both of them are really good to Ashlyn and I saw chemistry with both. I would have rooted for her to be with either character.

I know this is a kind of weird question, but why do you think you never got into EJ and Gina?

I saw a comment saying was season 3 was backtracking, "how their relationship was so genuine and supportive in the first two seasons then suddenly all the development was gone in s3 with EJ back to being inconciderate and Gina is back to having feelings for Ricky'

Not a weird question at all! 

I’ll start with things I think I’ve mentioned in previous PW-related asks (just to get the repetition out of the way lol). They share no common ground beyond both initially being seen as the scheming antagonists when the series began. They don’t understand each other — nor does EJ ever make a concerted effort to understand Gina, beyond asking her (literally one time) what it feels like to be constantly moving. They don’t communicate well; EJ put no effort into maintaining their relationship. + EJ essentially refuses to support Gina the second it becomes inconvenient for him (sure, he’ll pick her flowers to congratulate her on landing the lead, but then he’ll negate that by immediately talking about himself and his failings without giving Gina a moment to celebrate her own success). 

& on top of EJ & Gina being, on paper, not compatible — regardless of who they are being played by — there’s also the fact that I have never once felt an ounce of romantic chemistry watching Sofia & Matt on screen together. Chemistry is, in part, something that just is. You either have it with your scene partner(s) or you don’t. They don’t. (IMO) That’s problem #1. & even actors who establish that natural onscreen chemistry can’t coast on that alone, to really get the audience (in this case, me lol) invested, they both have to have the emotional range to back it up. 

Which brings me to problem #2: I don’t think Matt has the kind of depth, as an actor, that it takes to be a good scene partner to someone as incredible an actor as Sofia. I don’t want it to sound like I’m just trying to dunk on Matt, he seems like a nice guy and I by no means think he’s a bad actor (I don’t think anyone on the show is a bad actor) but, in my opinion, he doesn’t bring much, if any, nuance to his performance. It’s always very…shallow — meaning that Sofia, too often, has to carry (most? all?) the emotional weight in their scenes together. Josh, in contrast, is a much stronger actor who can hold his own in a scene with Sofia because he’s capable of giving a layered performance. Like Sofia, there’s so much going on behind his eyes, so much in the slight change of a facial expression. She doesn’t have to do all the heavy lifting in their scenes together, it’s more of an equal partnership.

I should probably also mention that I have never exactly loved EJ as a character, for reasons completely unrelated to Matt’s portrayal of him. Even when s1 was airing and he was in everyone’s “Big Three” edits on Twitter, I didn’t really get the appeal. I thought he was funny sometimes and a necessary part of the show’s narrative, but I had a hard time rooting for him because his problems were often so trivial compared to other characters’. Like, Ricky’s parents were in the midst of a divorce and his mom was miles away, seemingly starting a new life with a new relationship, without him. Gina had finally found a home and friends and somewhere to belong, only to have all of that ripped away from her, out of nowhere, the instant her mom gets a call from work. Meanwhile, EJ…lied and lost Instagram followers because of it ?? & I’m expected to sympathize with him? Then, in s2, Gina is heartbroken, without her mom to comfort her, Ricky is forced to move out of his childhood home & Nini is finally embracing her independence and learning not to see herself through the eyes of others and EJ just…doesn’t get into one Ivy League school until his dad effectively buys his way in and again, I’m supposed to feel for him because he's sad he couldn't earn that spot on his own? The only thing I feel is that he’s incredibly privileged. & when he was desperate to please his dad in s3, I tried to care (because it's the closest he's ever come to genuine struggle on the series) but I couldn’t because he was doing it at the expense of Gina & her feelings — something he never took responsibility or apologized for, by the way. Ricky makes a mistake, learns from it and does his best to make up for it. EJ makes a mistake and…well, that’s it. He keeps making it, but it’s supposed to be okay because he’s a good guy who’s always trying to do the right thing, even if he doesn’t succeed. & I’m tired of it, honestly.

TLDR: In order for me to root for a couple, they need to have chemistry, the actors need to have comparable acting abilities & I need to sympathize with both characters, to like both of them &/or to find them both interesting (I specified the “&/or” for that last part because I do have a couple ships where I don’t necessarily like one of the characters, but I do feel for them at times & find them interesting/compelling). PW has none of that.

As for the second part of your ask, the old “EJ & Gina’s relationship was great in s2, but the writers ruined everything in s3 by having EJ go back to being selfish and Gina go back to being in love with Ricky.” Ugh. Here’s the issue with that: neither of these factors ever changed. EJ has always been an inconsiderate & insecure boyfriend and Gina has been in love with Ricky this whole time. Neither of them went “back” to being anything, they just never left. EJ had all the same negative qualities in his relationship with Gina that he displayed in his relationship with Nini in s1 — jealous, insecure & secretive, with an inability to own up to his own actions & a tendency to blame Ricky for something that was entirely his own doing. That isn’t a sign of character regression. You can't regress if you never learned, never changed, in the first place. PWs only convinced themselves that EJ had changed because he was single for nearly all of s2 and that allowed them to completely forget what he was like in a relationship. Out of sight, out of mind.

 & I don’t know where PWs get the idea that Gina was completely over Ricky once her & EJ got together. She only accepted EJ’s offer of a date after making it clear (at the sleepover) that she thought Ricky was no longer an option, not that she didn’t still harbor feelings for him. There was no closure between them, they never talked about Opening Night and, in order for EJ & Gina to get together, she had to literally not be on speaking terms with Ricky.

Also, about the whole “EJ was so supportive in s2” thing: I’m guessing their idea of “support” is 1. EJ asking how she was one time — even though he didn’t ask because he noticed she was emotional and wanted to check in, he asked as in, “how do you feel about everything you’ve pulled off tonight?” because she had helped plan the entire party and performed that musical number for Carlos in front of everyone. Gina, feeling alone & dejected, took it for more than it was. & 2. EJ bringing Gina that ass granola bar from his back pocket at the airport. Both of these aren’t so much expressions of support as they are the absolute bare minimum, which required little effort on EJ’s part. Like, wow, in the entire time they’ve know each other, he’s asked her about herself twice and picked her up from the airport once — boyfriend goals, am I right?

New canon obx details from the Pogue Life Scrapbook Hardcover (part 1)

So this book is basically set up as if it's the pogues making a scrapbook of their lives with cute little graphics and handwritten details. Each pogue (including Sarah) has their own section where the content is more skewed toward them, but all of the other pogues write stuff in the margins, and their comments honestly read pretty in-character (at least imo).

According to the author, Joey Elkins, he was asked by the creators to write it, and he was also the script coordinator for season 1, which is why i feel like it's safe to say that the details in the book are supposed to be canonical.

((Throughout this entire book, they pretend that all of the events in the show have happened in 2019 instead of 2020, which is so unnecessarily annoying but yeah i'm just gonna try to shift the years accordingly))

JJ bought his dirt bike the summer before the show starts, and he apparently got the money from him and John B giving surfing lessons to Tourons

Anyways Uranium Suite/Tragic Fact choreo analysis! (Ps, I am slightly biased, I used this choreo for a movement project in my Advanced Actor's Studio class.)

First of all, Constance with that speed talking off a note card? Literally amazing and hilarious, and very realistic. I love it!

The choir snapping! Very funny, very cool. Especially bc people don't start at the same time, so it's even more realistic! Also, the realistic choir movements! Just the snapping and more rhythmic movements in the 2013 production is (imo) even more realistic than the more show choir movement of Fall Fair Suite.

Mischa sounds literally so uninterested, and I love him for that. Also A MARCHING BAND? I'm in marching band, and oh Jesus Christ on a bike, what are they doing with their hands? /lh

It's not actually a big deal, I'm just a huge marching band nerd, only a little less than I am a theater nerd, so I'm very picky. But also, there's no way that marching band sounds good. Uranium City is literally tiny, literally nothing, and they go on to complain about it! Like NO! That marching band would be microscopic. Nothing, nada. They could possibly sound good, but they'd be running on the bare minimum there.

I love the reaching out towards the side of the choir! Probably implying that Jane has a solo, and is performing with them, despite not being on stage atm. Which makes you question even more, how was she not identified? But yk, theory for another day.

I love the choir snapping out of their reach-out, bc it looks like this intense moment of realization. Like, they look so confused! It's really cool, how much emotion every single member is expressing. Also it should be noted, I love Karnak in this show, he's a funky little man with a long ass beard, and I adore him.

I love them looking at each other at the synchronized beat! Even if Noel is being left out :(

Then, every member of the choir (even if you can only see Ocean clearly) just staring out into the audience as they sing about their town going down the drain, essentially. The stillness of the actors works so well for this. You feel like it's a single moment in time that you're observing in slow motion! (Ps, this is basically where I started my movement piece, and my class literally rambled to me afterwards about how amazing the stillness hit at the beginning)

"We will never leave this town at ALL" and then the group head turn to the slow, intercrossing walk, and the hit of suddenly being stuck in that position! Literally amazing, and I love it. Mischa fr just be standing there like "yep, am stronk"

"Our folks, it seems, were too entwined, stubborn, wouldn't change their mind. Hoping bust might turn right back to boom" I love how Ocean, Mischa, and Ricky, the three people possibly most isolated from the town, due to extremely different circumstances, are the three facing the audience. Noel and Constance are staring directly at Ocean, and that's just so cool, bc they're the two who are on opposite sides of each other. Constance, Ocean's bff, and Noel, Ocean's enemy, are the two looking at her, in at least some display of concern. I think it's neat, lol.

"Crossed their fingers, prayed for luck, bowed down to this mighty buck, waiting in this godforsaken tomb" just the pure anxiety on every single members face! Really shows how they must've felt in their final moments. Constance shows the least amount of worry, but that makes a lot of sense, because of Sugar Cloud. I also love how the entire choir stops their movement at tomb. You can also hear a slight clicking in the background, which almost sounds like the track of a rollercoaster, bringing the train up to the top of a drop! I think that's also very neat.

LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE MEMBER'S MOVEMENT DURING "empty people, empty mind. Living like they're killing time, a dead-end town against a dead-end wall" IT'S SO AWESOME!!! I LOVE ALL OF THEIR MOVEMENTS, AND HOW IT REPRESENTS THEIR CHARACTERS.

Also, combining that with the very mechanical movement of "There's nothing cute and nothing sweet, this town has only one main street, let me face my boredom at the mall" which, unlike a lot of things in this musical, where I compare their mechanic movements to the rollercoaster, this is one where I don't. The choir walking here, imo, shows how repetitive life was in Uranium City. How everything felt meshed together, and that you were living the same day over and over and over again. Their next move of reaching out, and then going around in a circle continues to represent that! As well as the loop in the coaster, but that's just a constant theme in this show, lol.

Also, then Ocean leading the choir for "so what do we do to fill our day" "make plans for the getaway!" Is so important. Because literally at least 2 other people (Noel and Mischa, unless their characters changed very very drastically, since I haven't been able to find a full show of this production yet) are longing to get out of Uranium! Also Ricky, reaching for the stars as a getaway? I love that character bit.

Then the choir just complaining and lamenting about how boring, and repeating Uranium City is! How the most fun thing is the choir, and then dying (represented by "build yourself a funeral pyre, so many stimulating things to do") LIKE THAT'S IT and the movement represents that with the precision, and the quickness between movements. That's it. You're born, you sing (and maybe play bingo), you work, and then you die. That's life in Uranium City Saskatchewan Canada, so everyone wants to get out. They don't want that, even if that's exactly what they got in the end.

EVERYONE WORKS AT THE MALL! Literally everyone moves back to the coaster position using a movement that represents a job at the mall. Like, omfg. THAT'S IT. There's nothing else to do. And they continue to represent that unpassing of time with the movement. I adore it. (Off topic, I'm so tempted to make my senior quote "How can I describe my hate? It's one year till I graduate" but I probably won't)

THEM GETTING FLUNG OFF THE ROLLERCOASTER AS IT CRASHES? OMG I LOVE IT SO SO SO MUCH, YOU HAVE NO IDEA

Things I like/love abt Trailer park boys,,,my beloveds

-random cats and dogs showing up throughout the episodes (I love how they just exist ig? Like they're not always acknowledged but sometimes you see a character holding a random cat or petting a dog and it rlly just makes the environment feel alive)

-I love the semi recurring gag of the boys going to jail at the end of every season, and if it's not Ricky and Julian it's only one of them or another character

-the season finales are ALWAYS fcking incredible and even in the Netflix seasons I've always been entertained by the shitstorm coming together

-the little detail of Julian always tucking his shirt into his pants,, it rlly gave him even more character to me and I was sad that he didn't do it anymore later on 😣

-the sense of community in the earlier seasons like,,I absolutely love that despite how greasy the boys' scams are they still go out of their way to help other park residents and you can tell they just absolutely love everyone there

-Ricky's cool fcking jacket when he worked at that school as a janitor <3

-everyone (well except Julian sometimes lol) being friendly to Treena despite being the kid of Mr Lahey. I found it rlly sweet that she got to hang out with them and she clearly felt rlly comfortable around them

-Trinity just being absolutely unhinged as a kid but also having this rlly sweet side to her? Despite acting off the rails at first she's mellowed out quite a lot as she got older and idk I feel like that's good for her character and makes her stand out from the rest of her family

-random but I love how Julian rejects Lucy every time she comes onto him. In a lot of shows this causes conflict cuz Lucy is ofc Ricky's girlfriend and Julian is Ricky's bestie and therefore there's often some kind of strange love triangle or at least a flirty relationship going on. But you can tell how much Julian respects Ricky and he's never harsh when he rejects her, which is a rlly compelling character trait in my opinion

-Bubbles not giving a fck abt toxic masculinity and just dressing however the fuck he likes and expressing his interests openly. It's so refreshing to see a male character just unapologetically being themselves without constantly being the butt of the joke. I also love how genuine his friendship with the boys is and that they don't make fun of him or exclude him for not being as conventionally 'masculine' as they are

-Ricky and Sara's relationship in Season 2,,,I really liked them together and they had good chemistry imo

-Randy always saying frigg off!!!! instead of fuck off but still saying bitch and whatnot lmfao

-Ricky doing absolutely insane shit (rolling a massive joint, being on fire) and Julian being completely desensitized to it

-background characters actually having names and having their own personality and running gags. They make the show feel so unique and real and it wouldn't be the same without Donnie constantly screaming "WHAT IN THE FUCK!!!!" or other shit going on in the background

-the pilot in particular tbh idk it usually takes a while for me to get into shows and I didn't have any expectations going into TPB but I was immediately sucked into the story. Like the aesthetics, the mockumentary format.... The fact that Ricky and Julian are a dynamic duo right off the bat even when they're claiming they'll stay away from each other is just so compelling. Julian very clearly being the protector of the park and having so many people look up to him sets him up as such an interesting and likeable character because we feel his struggle in both wanting to do better for himself and wanting to be there for the park residents. Ricky on the flip side seems like the 'bad' one of the two but it quickly becomes clear that he's struggling just as much as the rest of them and that he feels disoriented and lonely without his best friend. The little moment when Ricky stands outside Julian's trailer in the dark, petting a cat while Julian softly says he thinks Ricky is a good guy....just *cheffs kiss*

-the whole vibe of season 7. It really stands out from the other seasons because despite it being comedic as usual and having a slow start, there's just this weird ominous sense throughout the episodes. Like it's got this creepy supernatural feel to it sometimes. Like that shot of Julian's Monte Carlo sinking slowly into the lake, with the dark sky and shit? Horrifying. Like straight up that shit creeped me out lmao I rlly wish they'd do another season with more of those ominous moments

-I don't know how to explain this one but i fcking love how the main trio looks visually? Like not just "oh yeah they're attractive" but as in, these characters are super recognizable. In some shows I often mix characters up because there's nothing particularly outstandingly abt their appearance while here they're just so diverse? Julian's drink, his beard and his usual black outfit.... Bubbles with his massive eyes n coke bottle glasses, and his blonde hair.... Ricky with his Houndstooth shirt and pompadour and sideburns.... They just look so unique and i really wish the animated series would've exaggerated their proportions and physical traits because that would've been perfect in a cartoon setting 😫

-nobody caring that Randy and Lahey are gay. Obv this show still has some issues in regards to portraying LGBT characters but I love that none of the characters ever make a big deal out of these two's relationship. They only judge them for their strange sex shenanigans lmao Like Julian accidentally walking in on them that one time. He literally didn't even flinch he just got what he came for and when he got back he was like "geez you think you know some people...." referring to the strange roleplay but other than that he seemed completely unfazed. Idk it's like weirdly comforting to see how casual everyone is abt it

-J-Roc's dialogue bring creative and funny AF. Who's The Microphone Assassin? is one of my favorite episodes purely because of that incredible rap at the end lmfao It Could Happen To You plays randomly in my head all day every day ☠☠

-every character having a greasy side to them. Like they're all complex in their own ways and in some episodes a character could act antagonistic while the next episode they might be the most sane character of the bunch. I just like that they're not one dimensional

-the quotable AF dialogue and iconic scenes. Even ppl who have never even heard of Trailer Park Boys know the legendary scene where Lahey says "Julian! :D" and then proceeds to drunkenly stumble down the stairs. I quote shit like "had a couple drinks, saw a couple things...." or "that's one fucking nice kitty right there" so much that it's become part of my regular vocabulary 🐈

-specific but characters re-wear their clothes which makes the show feel more realistic

-the camera work being somewhat realistic and not managing to stay perfectly still when the camera crew starts running lol

-the low quality of the first seasons. It gives the episodes a nostalgic vibe to it

-Ricky being the only one who can successfully trick the cops while when the other boys try it, it fails miserably

-Cory and Trevor <3 That's it. That's the point

-it doesn't really have anything to do with the show itself but I love how many pictures/promo material that aren't in the show are available. There's so many cool pictures or deleted scenes to find online

-ig this is up to personal interpretation but I think it's cute how awkward Julian is with his love interests. Like it's not very noticeable with Candy in season 1 but with Julian's other love interests he just acts a little strange because despite the romances he's had throughout the show he clearly struggles to act any different around his girlfriends lol I think it's really endearing -all 3 of the boys openly (in Bubbles case privately lmfao) finding Coolnow absolutely adorable

This is definitely not all of the things I love abt the show but it's still quite a few! This show means the world to me so after my dislikes list it would only be right to compile what I love abt TPB <3

can you explain what happened in todays ep :( I usually don’t watch til everything’s finished but I heard today really ruined portwell?

IMO it's not a whole lot more than what they've been doing to Portwell all season, but there was a moment that definitely felt like it was clear things are over between them, sadly.

They find out about camp prom and at the end of the episode Gina has Ricky help her set up a promposal for EJ. EJ tells her he wishes he could accept but there's a no dates to camp prom rule so that no one feels left out.

There's an awkward moment of silence after that which EJ breaks by saying something like "but hey, we can just watch the fireworks from here, I have a few minutes before I have to go back to work". Gina asks if that's a metaphor and he says no there are real fireworks, color war tradition. Another awkward moment of silence as they both look out the window for fireworks. They don't happen. EJ says something like "any minute now". They still don't happen. Gina is looking out the window waiting for them, EJ looks at Gina very sad, as if he understands the symbolism of this moment and that it's over between them.

It's a bit heavy handed. But yeah...they didn't break up but they essentially plugged in yet another neon sign with arrows pointing at EJ and Gina saying "it's over, do you get it yet?" so it's truly only a matter of time at this point. I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet, but they seem to really want to nail the point into the ground.

Also last scene of the episode Jet finds Ricky crying in his bed. He says "I can't believe I let...color wars slip through my fingers" and Jet calls him out that he knows he really means Gina, not color wars.

I again have a lot of feelings about all of this, but it's more of the same about this whole season. At some point I'll sit down and write a novel-length post about how I feel about it all (this season, the current direction and feel of the show, my problems with it all), even though no one asked or cares lol.

PS. @kat--writes has some good posts and answers to anons about this episode if it helps, but she's brutally honest as to what the show is doing and it's not pretty for Portwell shippers so read at your own risk. But it's much more insight on it all than I've given if you'd like to check it out.

You know what I find hilarious, is how all these gicky fans/ricky fans keep coming to your asks defending Ricky when they keep hating on EJ for all the things he did. Like if you want to go after EJ fine, but then look at your fave too. Stop being so biased. Very rarely I've seen gicky fans be more open to accepting that yes Sofia and Joshua have chemistry (and I was a rin@ myself in season 1 and I still like their chemistry although I don't ship them anymore) there is no denying that. But them being the best slow burn in the show and Ricky really upping his game and genuinely deserving a relationship with Gina imo is a far stretch when there have been others who have been there for her more than Ricky has ever been. Not saying this from a shipping POV, just as a friend.

Truth is Gina is a doormat for Ricky. She will forgive him for everything he puts her through as long as he picks her. That's all she wants (I'm saying this more from whatever ensued in S3) and unfortunately EJ was never "that guy" for her, the guy who she would keep trying for. She gave up on him, he didn't. He couldn't make time for her but he didn't want a break up. Even if all this happened at East High, she would always break up with EJ for Ricky because unfortunately she likes the guy who doesn't deserve her. I feel this from the Gina we saw in S3. But if we go by S2 Gina I feel she'd probably evaluate her relationship with EJ and not break up with him. She seemed to see him for who he was and genuinely felt like he tries his best even if he fails a lot. And that Gina was nowhere to be seen in S3. She felt different. And seemed to put herself first, which isn't very Gina 2.0 of her. And unfortunately the writers cannot keep the characters consistent and to get gicky to happen they imo changed Gina and made such contrived issues between PW, which S2 PW would've fixed. Even the part where EJ doesn't go as her date to the prom in S3 seemed ooc for him, S1 EJ would break the rules and go with her, maybe even S2 EJ, he always seemed to go the extra mile for Gina.

Another note, Ricky gets too many free passes from this fandom and I really dislike it. He's quite unlikeable as a character, especially after the way he seems to be so dependent on others, every season he "needs" a partner one way or another. Someone like Ricky needs therapy/counselling, not a relationship.

Sorry just had to rant somewhere. I'll always be upset how they handled the ships here with poor writing and seems that no relationship lasts longer than a season. And Gina was my favourite character, but with the way the writers have messed her up I don't think I even wish to follow upcoming seasons.

Thank you so much for this ask!! I don't understand their need to argue with people who use the anti tag. Why can't we have our differing opinions? Especially if they're going to destroy one character with much more understandable actions and defend someone who has objectively done much worse.

Yeah, Gina and Ricky have great chemistry. But having great chemistry doesn't necessarily make a good relationship. It makes them interesting to watch for sure and chemistry is obviously necessary but the writers haven't matched that chemistry with anything compelling writing-wise.

I think in season 2 Gina was good about eventually verbalizing to Ricky that his behaviour was not okay and was able to stand up for herself, which is why it's frustrating to see them getting together with little work in between on Ricky's part. also, them being the ultimate slow burn thing isn't really true because Ricky just suddenly decides he likes Gina and that's that and we don't have him slowly realise he's been an idiot this entire time and realise all he has done wrong and verbalise that, and we don't get to see Gina slowly warm back up to him. we don't see him understand the way he runs to relationships instead of dealing with his problems. he sings "finally free" and that's supposed to just be him dealing with everything in a three-minute song and that's not satisfying. because Gina gives the speech (which makes no sense for so many reasons), we don't know how Ricky actually feels. did he like her before this season? was he repressing his feelings? how is he going to prove he's going to show up and how is he going to prove she's not just a third choice to him?? I was thinking about this the other day, like how r*na could have been done well. the chemistry is there. they needed to fix some things and handle portwell in a respectful way but instead here we are.

i agree with you anon about all of this like the way the fandom excuses Ricky and the way gina and EJ should work (and it's more than their couch scene, as I've seen some r*nas say is our only excuse for everything. that whole season is a love letter to how well they work together. think about the camera scene when EJ is the first person to genuinely listen to her--especially in comparison to ricky in that season, who always ends up talking about his problems but not Gina's--or them working together to come up with a cover story on the fly or him showing up with a granola bar just when she needed it most; they're so in sync with each other and they understand each other so well and stars people don't have to like it but to pretend they have nothing?? i see people saying they would rather have had jack and gina get together than EJ and gina and I'm like you hate EJ with her that much?? considering all that EJ has done for her do you hate Gina?? yeah jack was sweet but that was one episode of them hanging out lol).

Anyway, my newest sillies are the Chamber Choir kids from Ride the Cyclone!

Ride the Cyclone is a comedy-tragedy musical you can find a slime tutorial on youtube for wink wink about a bunch of kids who die horribly in a roller coaster accident after a choir competition and have to compete for a chance to revive themselves by earning the favor of the other students. Thing is, none of them are super friendly with each other.

First up, we have Ocean! Shes the class president, straight A student with a major supiriority complex. Shes also a ginger, and generally pretty awful. She also appears to have known that the coaster was going to derail, most likely after it was already too late.

Constanance is her best friend, a sweet girl with the poofiest hair and who is the good girl of the group.

Noel has the 'gay autsistic in a catholic school' experience, since did I mention hes canonically gay and they're all in catholic school? Yeah yikes. He adores everything old French and romantic and his catchphrase is close to my favorite line in the whole thing. Paraphrased, "Being the only gay guy in a high school in the middle of no where is like having a laptop in the stone age. Sure, you can have one, but theres no where to plug it in". He has a very complicated relationship with his gender identity and he wears a dress in his solo and he slays it so hard. I think you can probably tell who my favorite character is.

Next we have Mischa! Hes a Ukranian orphan who moved to Canada (the musical's setting) after losing his mother. He has a S.O named Talia who lives in Ukraine and is low key neglected by his adoptive parents. He raps, but hes a total. Absolute. Just. Words don't describe. Hes also a bisexual disaster imo, he gets a little fruity with Noel.

Ricky is our canonical horny disabled guy rep and its amazing. Well, I skipped past the scene where he gets very into it (nothing explicit but I'm more or less not a fan of that kind of thing so yeah its hilarious just a bit much). He has a degenerative disease and is a mute until the after life.

And finally, my second favorite, Jane Doe. No one remembers who she is, and her body was found without a head. Shes the only one without a name or an age or anything, and is generally considered a mystery. Shes adorable, I love her.

Its a very well done musical, and I cannot recommend it enough. Its on youtube too! The music is good, the comedy is fun, the acting is phenomenal, and theres a canonical gay and its really fun. Its an hour and 40 minutes of your time, and you won't regret it. Now excuse me while I draw Noel in several different pretty dresses.
