i was rereading the first vol of the 15 manga today and dazai said smth abt how the sheep asked him to join a while ago why does no one talk abt that. how long ago. how old was he. is he an orphan or a run away? whyd he say no? was chuuya there and they dont remember eachother? WHERES MY SOUKOKU BOTH IN THE SHEEP AU???? GUYS??? PLEASE????

AND AND AND how long was he with the sheep??? in sb its implied they dont just take anyone randomly(or atleast they didn't for Chuuya when the sheep were still small. Shirase says he kinda hung around them for a bit before being an official member)??? And Chuuya says Dazai had a good idea on the sheeps innerworkings(then again shirase could say hi and dazai couldve figured out everything so that doesn't say much)

💌 A Walk in Each Other’s Shoes: Chapter 3  💌  

Summary:  “They’ve been like this since returning from their mission following up with the defection of several gifted members. From what Chuuya or rather “Dazai” said a new organization was behind said defections, Sonrisa, created a machine to essentially “steal” abilities-” Chuuya dropped from the ceiling in front of Hirotsu finishing the report “But it didn’t work how they originally designed it and now me and Chuuya switched bodies!” his smile was wide, almost creepily so. Chuuya doesn’t smile often and especially not like that. Without a doubt, it was Dazai in Chuuya’s body.

In the other room Dazai was having a hard time staying awake. Food, a shower, the long exhausting training montage heck even the slug’s comfortable pajamas were lulling him into this sleepytime junction. It's not like he needed to wait for Chuuya. He knows the other will rewrap the bandages just fine but it's still gnawing at the back of his mind. Although he's starting to wonder, has Chuuya’s couch always been this cozy? Dazai stretched, yawning as he sprawled out over the full surface area, something he couldn’t do before. It felt like the cushions were cradling him in just the right way so that he could pass out without any effort at all. Normally his chronic insomnia would kick in and he'd lay there staring at the ceiling for hours until he took the pills Mori gave him. It frustrated him knowing that Mori took extra measures to prevent him from being able to overdose on them. Which is why Dazai has always treated them as a last ditch effort. Right now however Dazai thinks this is the first time he's going to fall asleep without copious amounts of effort on his part. A soft smile graced his lips as his eyes slipped shut.

Chuuya didn’t take very long showers so color him surprised that in the span of maybe ten minutes tops Dazai had managed to pass out on the couch. That's gotta be a record for the mackerel. Chuuya’s never seen himself look so peaceful before. It's bizarre to know that this is Dazai in his body. He frowns, if Dazai wasn’t awake then that means he rewrapped most of the bandages for nothing. 

“Tsk”

Chuuya fluffed his freshly blow dried hair as he grabbed a blanket and draped it over him. At least he didn't have to hear Dazai nag him that he couldn't sleep and that the only way to remedy it was for Chuuya to tell him a bedtime story. He only fell for that bullshit once and it was more out of habit than anything else. It's not his fault he used to do that back in the sheep for some of their younger members. Dazai teased him about it for a week even though he was the one who fucken asked!

Chuuya turned off the lights and flopped down on his own bed. His body was tired but his mind was so awake. Which was unlike him. Typically Chuuya could fall asleep any time anywhere. He rolled over to his side and groaned. 

“Don't tell me this is curtsy of one of Dazai’s bodily quirks.”

He mumbled in frustration as he got out of bed. Sometimes Chuuya will fall asleep listening to music. If he plays some it might help. He turned the volume down low and crawled back under the covers, closing his eyes. The last thing he needs is for Dazai to wake up complaining about the music. He tries to focus on the melody while imagining laying in an open field. The warmth of the sun, a nice breeze, just the quiet serenity of being at peace. Chuuya frowns, it isn't working. He smothers himself with his pillow. It was going to be a long night.

The feeling of weightlessness and floating in a dark expanse. It reminded Dazai of the first time he jumped in the river except it was less cold and wet. There was no uncomfortable pressure pulling air from his lungs but somehow he could still hear his muffled screaming. Slowly he opened his eyes only to be met with the ceiling fan not more than a foot from his face. In a panic he was dropped from a decent height as he woke up and registered what had been happening. 

He whimpered on the floor groggily as he regained his composure. The dull ache of falling was only second to whatever that incessant noise was. Rubbing his lower back, Dazai finally realized what the familiar sound was and stumbled to Chuuya’s room. As he swung the door open he was met with the sound of his own voice screaming. It was sincerely grating on the ears and at this volume it really was going to wake up the whole neighborhood. Now you’re not supposed to wake people up from nightmares but at this moment in time Dazai didn’t give a shit, he wanted to go back to sleep. Plus it was his body he could do whatever he wanted to it. 

Chuuya seemed to be twisting and turning in the center of the bed. It took Dazai a moment staring at his own face before he jumped into action. For a split second part of him thought this was a dream where he is outside of his body watching himself having a nightmare. He nearly forgot about their little switch despite being woken up because he was using Chuuya’s ability by accident. He wasn't sure how to go about waking his counterpart. Dazai tried to grab his shoulder but was easily pushed away, almost thrown off the side of the bed. To be fair he had to lean pretty far over to reach the other. The bed frame was raised fairly high considering Chuuya’s height and it didn’t help that his bed was a big luxury mattress so the center was much further than normal. With all of Chuuya’s thrashing about Dazai decided to crawl on top of him to shake him awake.

“Hey. Chuuya it's just a dream, you're gonna wake the whole neig-”

Chuuya’s eyes snapped open as he bolted upright eyes frantically darting around the room before scowling at Dazai being mere inches apart. He didn't say anything, still trying to process the visions his subconscious tailor made for him. He layed back down covering his face, annoyed. Just when he finally drifted to sleep he was awoken harshly by his own corrupted thoughts, and Dazai.

“Get off.” Chuuya demanded. Dazai compiled but opted to sit next to him pulling his knees to his chest. The former brunette made no effort to leave or get off the bed. They both looked at each other for a moment before Chuuya huffed again.

“Now get out.”

Chuuya continued to glare at him when he didn’t move. It was bad enough he had to be shaken awake, he didn't need Dazai’s pity too. There was an awkward pause between the two as Dazai mulled over how to bring up the theory in his mind.

“You know, I memorized your files back at the lab. I didn't think it was possible but science was able to do this,” he gestured to each other. “So I'm not really that surprised anymore.”

Chuuya raised an eyebrow as he crossed his arms. “What’s your point?”

“N somehow figured out how to revoke your capacity for dreaming. Naturally your brain would have a backlog to process, especially now that you have a vessel that has the capability.” Dazai pulled back the blanket enough to shimmy his way in, making himself at home beside Chuuya. Dazai already thought the couch was comfy but he was not prepared for the heavenly feeling of Chuuya’s bed. He practically melted into sleep again had it not been to the tension that lingered over the elephant in the room.

“Oi, I said get out!” Chuuya sat up about to push him away but Dazai sighed. “I don't like it either but unless you want to get your dick stuck in the ceiling fan you have to at least be within arms reach.”

Chuuya raised an eyebrow. “You were sleep floating? I haven’t done that since I first joined the sheep.” 

Dazai stiffened. Well that seemed to tank his self esteem. He was only as good as a seven year old, and here he thought he had natural talent considering the given circumstances. While he never properly studied physics in school it wasn’t that hard to understand. That’s disappointing, but not more disappointing than being stark awake now. They both took a long pause, it was starting to make Dazai uncomfortable. Chuuya was being too quiet, what happened to trying to kick him out? Dazai cleared his throat. “So how’d you stop the sleep floating?”

“Like hell if I know! I guess I just learned how to use my ability.” Chuuya grumbled, turning around. The warmth coming off of Dazai was oddly comforting especially since he was still shaken up. Chuuya has figured out that Dazai’s ability doesn’t completely nullify his emotions otherwise he wouldn’t be so on edge at the moment, it just dampens them severely. In a way he’s almost glad the other stayed. Although he didn’t want to talk about it in its entirety, but an eye for an eye. Chuuya hummed to himself. 

“Are all dreams like that?”

“Not particularly, but I don’t know what happened.” Dazai turned his head to look back at Chuuya. “You wanna talk about it?”

“Absolutely not, I just want to go back to sleep.”

“Fair enough.” 

They fell silent after that, letting the faint piano fill the dead air. Once again Dazai felt like he was floating but this time it was because Chuuya’s bed felt like sleeping on a cloud. The soft music was starting to lull him back to sleep with ease. He yawned loudly, spreading his limbs out. Dazai was on the cusp of sleep when he heard Chuuya grumble “Your body sucks.” When Chuuya didn’t get a response he turned around to see his counterpart had already fallen asleep.

“You gotta be fucken kidding me.” Still no response, Dazai was out like a light. Chuuya huffed watching his chest rise and fall. He still wasn’t used to the fact that he was able to stare at his own face in the candid. On impulse he reached out to poke his cheek, surprisingly squishy. He retracted his hand as Dazai’s face twitched, his mouth fell open slightly as he turned toward where Chuuya’s finger was. A few strands of red hair fell with the movement. Chuuya couldn’t help but marvel at his face. He didn’t know how to describe what he was feeling. His hands itched for some reason and he was starting to have heart palpitations and the longer he observed his face the warmer he felt his cheeks get. Chuuya took a deep breath and turned around. That was weird, he doesn’t remember feeling this sensation earlier. Was it residual tremors from the nightmare? It’s not impossible but he doubts it. Without any information he can’t exactly deduce what the strange echo is supposed to be so he shrugs and tries to go back to sleep.

He tries to slow his heart rate down and steady his breathing. Once again attempting to quiet his mind and clear his thoughts. It seemed to be working until he felt the blanket being gently pulled off his body. His eyes snap open to see Dazai starting to float up, taking the blanket with him. Not good. Coincidentally the warmth radiating off of his body was strangely soothing and after a few minutes he could feel his eyes getting heavy. Chuuya exhales, repositioning himself to absorb as much warmth as possible. His body was finally relaxing enough to drift back to sleep after being stark away for what felt like hours. She either found chuuya when she was eight or at fifteen when she was betrayed by the sheep but either way like she was to kyouka in canon she's controling and emotionally manipulative, kouyou see chuuya as her little sister and is overprotective, she know how valuable she is and well like they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions .

Chuuya is the hightest rated courtisans in the ozaki's house and still have an history with dazai.

( kouyou doesn't like that she's aware of her danger, think of her as a bad influence and a part of her fear that she'll take chuuya away from her but they're nothing that she can do , lest she want for chuuya's to actract mori attention if he notice how much it make her unconfortable).

Dazai was an eccentric client and they mostly played game together and when she left the port mafia she became chuuya's roommate when she was in hiding which chuuya hide from kouyou.

One of the things that made chuuya's the hightest rated courtisans is the rules that she have and that is one of the few things that dazai ( because of possessiveness) and kouyou ( because of her overprotectiveness) agree on , is that she never sleep with any clients.

Kouyou still find kyouka and she's chuuya's apprentice/little sister.

The agency meet chuuya when they needed informations for a case that even katai couldn't help them with and dazai lead them to chuuya, she also help them with her ability when they need her help like with Lovecraft to kouyou disaproval ( who disaproved even more when kyouka joined the ADA after befriending atsushi but she want to make sure that her mackerel is alive and well) .

Chuuya get along well with all the member of the agency and dazai want her to join the agency which is a new reason for her passive agressive conflict with kouyou.

skk thought, au(?) where, while being in the sheep, yuan taught every member how to make flower crowns, bracelets and rings, so now chuuya carries this secret skill with him the entire time hes in the port mafia, making flowery trinkets when no one else is around just to calm himself or out of pure boredome when outside, but one time dazai catches him doing it.

they were 17, sitting near a forest road, waiting for a car to pick them up after a particularly stressful and long mission. they were both exhausted, the adrenaline and stress still hanging in the air around them, when chuuya automatically picked a flower that survived their previous encounter with the enemy, and, with a concentrated face, started to braid its stem so it will take a form of a ring. his hands were moving roughly with anger, just barely not breaking the stem with the force. he tuck the end of it behind a braided part, so it will hold everything in place, looked at it, and threw the thing away, sighing loudly in exasperation.

the whole act caught dazai's attention, as he followed whatever object his partner threw, trying to find it in the slightly burned grass. he was ramaging through it, trying to find anything other than dirty rocks and mud, when an oval shape of a green ring with a dandelion finally revealed itself to him. dazai grabbed it immediately, though careful with his moves, so he wouldnt do any damage to the thing. he looked at it in awe. did chuuya really make this? the braiding looked so perfect and precise there was no way his partner learned it on the spot.

for how long did chuuya manage to hide this talent from dazai?

chuuya was too far gone in his weird spiral of thoughts to notice his partner putting the ring on his finger, just for it to fit it perfectly, then sneaking behind the redhead. he raised the hand with the ring sitting on his ring finger (of course dazai would put it there), shoving it into chuuya's face, which snapped him back to reality.

"what are you doing you shitty-"

he stopped, scanning the image in front of him with terror in his eyes.

"you are never going to let this one go, huh? just you fucking wait until i smash your head against the first-"

"i actually quite like it" dazai cut him off, making his partner look even more... terrified? surprised? stunned? he wasnt sure which word suit the expression chuuya made best, but he wouldnt let their exchange end on such a cliche, too sweet for his liking phrase. Chuuya nakahara ends up at a police station at 14 and meets murase (as well as some other cops). Chuuya is going to be given a death sentence but after some less than legal talk with his supervisors murase can remove it completely. the only condition is rehabilitating chuuya back into society, which proves a harder task than thought considering a few extra issues that went down in his past.

7) College(idol) au-

At 15 chuuya nakahara is the lead of a world famous pop idol group. Shifty treatment from his manager makes chuuya decide to quit, however on while preforming his last show something technical goes wrong, the stage explodes, the other members got away safe but chuuya was hospitalised. the world assumes him dead and since he contract is over he decides to keep it that way, content with living his life like a normal person now. until hes in collage and it turns out his new roomate was the biggest fan of him and his old group. chaos ensues

8) Sky casino chuuya au-

After hardly a year in the sheep chuuya is found by fyodor and placed inside the sky casino for safe keeping. now at 16 hes very good at his job and very bad at being tollerant of annoying house guests from the port mafia

9) DOA au-

15 goes wrong, chuuya gets hit a lot harder by the sheep and he ends up at fyodors doorstep (through less than natural circumstances). hes been working for the doa since. Dazai and him re-meet at 22 after hes captured by the port mafia. it goes intrestingly.

“Hey, Ryuunosuke.”

One eye peered open from where Ryuunosuke had been resting his eyes. He was deep in Sheep territory, about as safe as he could get. Chuuya was out somewhere prowling the streets for any threats, so Ryuunosuke had an off shift. Since Gin was otherwise occupied, he had decided to take a moment to “relax.”

It was nice.

Having his rest interrupted wasn’t exactly a poor thing, either. The voice that called out to him belonged to the strangest member of the Sheep, Nakajima Atsushi. The weretiger. (Not that the boy knew that last part, Ryuunosuke thought dryly to himself.)

The fact that Atsushi didn’t know was a constant thorn in Ryuunosuke’s side, but not one that he could exactly do anything about. Chuuya had been clear in making sure that nobody told Atsushi about his ability.

Regardless of Ryuunosuke’s annoyance over that particular situation, Atsushi was still strange enough on his own. He was a member of the Flock, but didn’t have many qualms anymore about talking with members of the Sheep. He barely had any about socializing with Chuuya or Ryuunosuke himself, and what ones he did have disappeared when Dazai showed up and took an interest in the cub. The boy had no sense of self preservation, either. He thought he was defenseless and still surrounded himself with people much stronger than him.

And, Atsushi always treated Ryuunosuke like they were at the same level. It was different when Chuuya did that to Ryuunosuke, when Chuuya was arguably more powerful than Ryuunosuke was. Atsushi’s stupid ability to turn into some fluffy creature every full moon wasn’t as strong as Rashomon, though, and Atsushi didn’t even know he had an ability at all.

At first, Ryuunosuke found it disrespectful. If Atsushi was talking to him as an equal while being weaker than Ryuunosuke, that meant he thought Ryuunosuke was weaker than he really was.

After a while, Ryuunosuke managed to figure out that Atsushi still had respect for Ryuunosuke’s power. He spoke of Rashomon openly- not treating it as taboo to bring up directly like so many Sheep- but also with awed breath. It was something that he recognized, but which simply did not pose an obstacle to his desires. It was strange.

Ryuunosuke first brushed aside Atsushi, but after repeated attempts from the younger boy, Ryuunosuke came to respect Atsushi in turn for his determination, however misplaced it may have been. So, he’d begun responding to Atsushi’s attempts at contact.

“Atsushi,” Ryuunosuke said in acknowledgement. He was sat on the roof of some hut, his back resting to the stone wall it was built against. Meanwhile, Atsushi was on the street level, gazing up at Ryuunosuke. “Is something wrong?”

From down on the ground, Atsushi shook his head ‘no.’ “I was looking for you.” His eyes narrowed a little, in confusion instead of anger. “How am I supposed to get up there?”

To anyone else, Ryuunosuke probably would’ve huffed and said, ‘you’re not.’ But as it was Atsushi, he merely rolled his eyes and activated Rashomon. It wasn’t perfect, but a thin ladder now descended the wall, and Atsushi scurried up. “What is it?” he asked once Atsushi scampered on over, retracting Rashomon back into his outfit.

“I have something for you!” Atsushi wasn’t even out of breath after scrambling so quickly up the ladder, something that Ryuunosuke noted with a stab of envy before realizing what Atsushi had said. A gift for him? Ryuunosuke watched as he took something out of a pocket inside of his jacket, a small brown bag that jangled with every movement. “Well, a few things for you.”

Ryuunosuke blinked. "You have… small bits of metal for me?"

"Yup!" Atsushi turned the bag upside down and let the pieces of metal scatter over the roof of the hut. Ryuunosuke looked at them blankly. They were his now? "I've been gathering them for the past month."

Picking one up, Ryuunosuke examined the metal scrap. It had writing on it that he recognized from a soda can. About the size of a coffee lid, it had sharp edges and a hole torn out of its center. He didn't understand how he was supposed to carry all of them around without cutting up his hands, a distressing thought. Cautiously, he asked Atsushi, "are you giving me the bag too?"

"You don't need the bag," Atsushi said, waving a hand around. "Just put them in Rashomon."

"What."

"What? It's a good idea!" Atsushi looked genuinely offended, which put Ryuunosuke on edge. What had he done? "If you attach bits of metal to Rashomon, then if anyone attacks you, you have extra protection."

Frowning, Ryuunosuke explained, "Rashomon can be sharper or more serated than any piece of scrap metal."

"Have you ever heard of shrapnel?"

"...Ah." Ryuunosuke took a second to consider the possibility of leaving bits of metal in the body of an attacker. He wasn't opposed to it. He took the piece of soda can he was holding and let Rashomon wrap itself around the hole in the center near his shoulder. It looked almost like a piece of a pauldron. "Like this?"

Nodding excitedly, Atsushi said, "yes, exactly!"

Ryuunosuke took a few minutes to strategically place the bits of metal, all of varying sizes, where they wouldn't rub against fabric when Ryuunosuke was moving. But after a while, he was struggling to reach onto his back.

"I've got it," Atsushi suddenly piped up, picking up one of the scraps with deft hands. "Just do what you do with Rashomon and I'll put it on."

Reminded not-so-vaguely of the way Atsushi could turn into a giant tiger on full moons, Ryuunosuke hesitated. He would have hesitated to give his back to anyone else, even Chuuya. But there was something earnest and kind about the offer that made Ryuunosuke give in. Haltingly, Ryuunosuke turned away from Atsushi, biting his lip as he did so.

Despite himself he half expected an attack.

But none came.

Instead, Atsushi simply fell into a rhythm with Rashomon, placing the metal scraps onto protrusions which would then retract into the fabric, leaving the shrapnel embedded in the outer layer.

When Atsushi was finally done, Ryuunosuke turned around, jangling slightly. He saw Atsushi trying and failing to stifle a laugh. Ryuunosuke rolled his eyes.

Sure, he wasn't going to be able to use any stealth, but anyone who saw him coming should turn the other way anyways. Probably a few members of the Sheep and the Flock would do that, too.

But not Atsushi. Definitely not him.

The Sheep King and his Demon AU

Aka Bsd except Chuuya doesn't join the Port Mafia.

Not technically canon to this... Butt what if Dazai joined the Sheep.

Basically the whole operation of setting members of the Sheep free, takes a lot longer than anticipated.

And so Dazai is sort of taken hostage by the Sheep until their hostages are released.

I say sort of because Dazai offered himself up as a hostage.

He's curious, he wants to know about this gang of teenagers that causes such havoc for the Port Mafia.

Especially their king.

The Sheep hold a meeting and they agree.

Dazai is suprised by his treatment, sure he and Chuuya argue constantly and he can piss off anyone without even trying.

But they treat him like they treat each other.

At first Dazai assumed they were lax about security because he came willingly. Or they were just that overconfident.

But he realises that's not the case at all.

Sure they keep an eye on him, mostly Chuuya. But he's not restricted to their base, just warned against going further into Suribachi city.

Obviously, Dazai doesn't because that sounds like more trouble than its worth.

But he's not handcuffed or kept in a makeshift cell. He's allowed to roam around the base and the surrounding area with a Sheep member keeping an eye on him.

Their all well aware of who he is, and have procedures and an agreed upon plan if things go south.

But for the most part, Dazai is treated like one of them.

Like, Yuan takes food inventory. She calculates how much they've got, rations the food as fair as she can.

So Dazai is suprised when a can of crab is handed to him every so often.

Because no one else eats crab, he's the only one. And Yuan goes out of her way to get him it so he'll have something to eat.

He wonders if it's to keep him on their good side, but it's not the case. Because Yuan tries to grab the others food that they love, it's not always possible but she tries.

None of the others comment about it, some joke about him eating crab of all things but leave it there.

They never force him to eat with them but the door is always open.

"Thanks for the crab."

"Hm? Oh your welcome."

Shirase is a strategiest, which suprised Dazai given their first meeting.

But apparently when he's not blinded by emotions, he's a lot more calculating and smart.

Dazai's offered to help when he's seen Shirase scheming a heist against a shipment heading into Port Mafia terrority.

"You... Want to help us steal from your people?"

"Why not?"

Shirase just stared at him for a moment before snorting, moving to sit beside him.

Showing his notebook and filling Dazai in what was happening.

They spend the next few hours pouring over ideas.

Tossing plans back and fourth. Sometimes they end up walking in circles and Shirase ends up leaving to patrol but thanks him for his input.

Dazai's never had anyone but Mori to steategise with, but this felt different. Quietly he'll admit that it was fun.

For all of Chuuya's grumbling of not being a king, he's an effective leader.

And so different from Mori.

After becoming Boss, Mori is strictly hands off.

He rules through fear and intimadation. He doesn't have to fight because he had tools that would it for him.

Mori's word was law, you didn't challenge it unless you had a coffin picked out.

Than you had Chuuya who constantly throws himself onto the front lines. He's a team player even if he would jump into danger alone to spare the others.

The Sheep follow Chuuya because they trust him. They need each other to survive and care about each other.

Chuuya doesn't give orders, everything feels like an open ended discussion. They debate and scheme and come up with solutions together.

The Sheep have even benched him when he's injured despite Chuuya saying he was fine.

They know each other's limits and don't use that to exploit it each other. Rather how to help and take care off each other.

It's so different to what Dazai's used too.

It's werid.

But it's not a bad werid.

Dazai starts to dread the idea of going back to the Port Mafia. He makes a throw away comment about it at dinner and everyone goes silent.

Chuuya just looks at him like he's said the dumbest thing he's ever heard.

"Idiot, if you don't wanna go back. Don't."

Dazai wants to laugh and say that it's not that easy. You don't just leave the Port Mafia, he'll be killed or worse and that's before Mori finds out and deals with him personally.

Chuuya rolls his eyes, as if reading his mind. He tilts his head to the others, and Dazai looks around.

And notices the looks on everyone's faces.

No one objects, no one looks annoyed or angry... Infact, they seem to all be in an agreement.

If the Port Mafia tried to take Dazai, they would all rally behind him.

And Dazai... He smiles.

Somewhere deep down he knows he's found where he belongs.

Chuuya gifts him his blue wristband, putting it on his wrist.

Dazai: Werid way to propose Slug.

Chuuya: I'm not proposing?! We're not even dating!

Dazai: Do I have to do everything around here?

Chuuya: You never do shit!

Shirase: Not true! Shirase tell him! Tell him how useful I've been!

Shirase: He's not wrong, Chuuya.

Dazai: Awww thank you hedgehog!

Shirase:... Nevermind he's been lazing around all morning.

Dazai: Gasp betrayal!

Yuan:.. Did he just say gasp?

Dazai:, Fine fine, oh great king Chuuya will you go out with the lowly peasant that is me?

Gakuen AU where Chuuya switched schools. He moved from Sheep High School to Port High School.

And the two schools are rivals. They compete in everything. Sports games, competitions, everything. These two schools literally hate each other.

And Chuuya used to be their best student. He won a lot of sport games and competitions for Sheep High School. His best friends there were Shirase and Yuan and the three of them where in the Student Council. Chuuya was the president.

But then he had to move schools because of his older brother, Paul. So now Chuuya is in the enemy school forced to work against his friends.

He joins The Flags, a school club that no one actually knows what they do. They're the school's elite, and their members are Pianoman, top of the his year, charming and kind, Lippmann who is also in the drama club (he actually played in a movie but no one at school knows) that is very successful in everything be does, Doc who spends almost all of his time in the nurse's office and no one knows if he's sick or is helping her (both), Albatross who is not the class clown but the school clown, he's very popular and he has a love-hate relationship with all of the teachers and Iceman that no one seems to actually knows and there's a rumor he's in a gang.

At the new school Chuuya decides that if he has to stay here at least he'll show how great he is so he decides to join the Student Council, which is hard. He's still trying his best and working hard to get in it.

Speaking of the Student Council, its president is Osamu Dazai but no one knows why and how because he's never there and he's doing nothing. In the Council are also Kōyō, who is basically doing all of the work, Adam, an exchange student that everyone seems to find weird but he's still quiet popular, and the teachers love him.

Speaking of the teachers, the principal is Mori Ougai, former doctor that probably became principal because of the lack of choices (he didn't like being a doctor because he wasn't getting any sleep. He isn't getting any more now) and he's also the biology teacher, Hirotsu who's the maths teacher he's strict but nice, Oda who is called by everyone Odasaku, he is the literature teacher but he will sometimes use the last 10-15 minutes of his class to help his students get ready for another class exam. There's also Ango who is the secretary, he hasn't slept since he started his career and most of the students love to make fun of him. And the only teacher that doesn't like Dazai, Murase that's the PE teacher. He's also Chuuya's uncle but he acts like he isn't (nobody is falling for that).

Chuuya is especially good in physics, French (he learned it from Adam ridiculously fast) and PE. He hates Dazai because he always makes fun of him and thinks he's so much better.

And after Chuuya spends like a year at the new school there's a very important competition. And Port High School sends Chuuya to participate and from the other school comes Shirase, who was picked by the new principal that's called N. And mid-competition they find out that new Sheep's principal was faking the score Shirase got. Chuuya tried to tell this to Shirase but he wouldn't listen.

At the end of the competition, Chuuya managed to prove what N was doing (with a bit of help of Adam, Dazai and Shirase who finally believed Chuuya).

Quiet, brooding, and devilishly handsome Fyodor Dostoevsky, leader of Angelic Decay (Vocals) Known for his vampiric aesthetic and warm voice. Has a blood red coloured Cello that he plays.

Nikolai Gogol the zany lead dancer (visual and second vocals) The clown of the group. Also the main rapper. Known for his unique sounding voice.

Sigma the quiet and shy second dancer (also visual and third vocalist) Known for his extremely wide voice range.

Ochi known by his stage name of Kamui

The Mafia

A four member group whose songs are a combination of rock and pop. Their fans are called Mafiosas, Mafiosos, or Mafiosis depending on the gender.

NAKAHARA CHUYA - Leader, Vocals

Started out by secretly singing along with the girls only choir in his hometown. When he was old enough to join he dressed up as a girl to join. He would rather die than admit that.

Was scouted and started as a trainee later than most idols and feels the need to prove himself despite being as good as any other idol.

Was originally part of a band called The Sheep but they kicked him out because they were jealous of him stealing their spotlight without even trying.

Friends with an independent artist who goes by the stage name Golden Demon, he sees her as an older sister figure. She taught him how to do makeup.

Has never told anybody but can play viola.

Akutagawa Ryunosuke - Vocals

Was convinced to audition by his sister Gin. He promised to watch out for her so he followed her in her idol carrere thinking he’d flunk out of training in a month or two.

He wanted to leave but a certain silver-haired boy convinced him to stay, he never learnt his name or even saw him again but now he feels he owes him.

Had severe asthma as a child that almost kept him from being able to join the company but his incredible vocals made him impossible to reject.

Has training in street and hip hop dancing.

Akutagawa Gin - Rapper

Has loved music all her life and discovered Rap when she was seven.

She immediately started learning her favourite songs and eventually started writing her own (yes she and Ryu were THE ANGRY ANGSTY TEENS)

Her mother was mad at Ryu and Gin for being rebellious but she decided to send them to the city in hopes that they would either flunk out because it was too hard or see how hard it was to really be an idol and come running home.

But Gin was determined and it started out as a way to spite her mum but she started to really love it.

Ryu saw how happy Gin was and finally gave in to her pleas for him to join her.

Both siblings agree that the company is better than home.

Izumi Kyouka, Vocals, Rap

Has had an angelic voice from a young age.

When her parents died she was sent into foster care.

Her new parents forced her to become an idol so they could make money.

At first all she could think of was escaping but everytime she tried to fail out Mori himself made sure she stayed on.

At first she hated him for it but then she met Kouyou who convinced her to make this her own thing instead of her parents' thing.

With new confidence Kyouka progressed quickly, she discovered Rap and fell in love with it because of its rebellious nature and ability to convey positive messages.

She loves surprising people by breaking into rap because she looks so sweet and innocent.

She has a crush on the youngest member of The Detectives

The Detectives

A seven member group who focus on making songs that are a mix of orchestral and electronic-dance-music. The’re fans are called Ability Users after their concept of Abilities from their very first album.

(In this story the Tanizaki’s share a last name but aren’t related to each other.)

DAZAI OSAMU - Leader, Vocals, Dancer

Grew up in inner city Tokyo.

He ran away from home at age nine (9) and was then scouted by Mori.

Scouted earlier than most idols. Has been singing since he was very young.

His vocal and dance trainer Oda Sakunosuke was killed saving his children after their home caught fire. 

Dazai fell into depression after that and threw himself into work because music and dance were the only way he could express himself.

He trained with Chuuya but was ready to debut earlier than Chuuya was so he was given over to ADA entertainment to lead a group that Fukuzawa was putting together.

Dances as a hobby, he can pick up choreography quite easily

Beloved by fans for his quirky personality but it hides a past blacked by his depression

Plays Electric Violin and Piano so strings are incorporated into almost all of The Detectives Songs.

Totally ships the Tanizaki's and teases them about it on and off camera.

Constantly annoying/embarrassing Junichirou who is oblivious to the fans knowledge of their relationship.

Edogawa Ranpo - Rapper, occasional vocals, visual #3

Grew up in the Tokyo suburbs.

Auditioned because he was bored.

Was going to quit because he gets bored quickly 

but he was in competition with his American pen-pal (who’s in an angsty indie band called Nevermore) and figured becoming an idol would be something he could hold over the other boy’s head. 

Not to mention maybe one day having his face on a brand of sweets would be cool.

He promised one day he’d write a song for his pen-pal.

Can sing and has a surprisingly deep voice but he prefers the rhythm and fast pace of rap.

The group was founded around him but he didn’t want to be leader because of all the responsibilities so Fukuzawa found Dazai.

Didn't even need his brain to figure out Tanizaki's deal.

He mostly ignores it.

Upset that it's such an open secret because he can't use it to blackmail Junichirou into buying him snacks.

Yosano Akio - Rapper and Vocals (Visual #3)

Grew up in Tokyo.

Started her training with PM entertainment but left after one of the dance instructors abused her.

Mori understood and let her go, but asked her if she would still pursue a career in music.

She refused to give up her dream and auditioned for ADA entertainment. 

Fukuzawa was happy to take her on.

She usually does Rap but some songs have her vocals.  

Likes to use big props in Music Videos (big hammers, hatchets, swords, scythes)

Thinks Junichirou is so stupid and that he should just some out and tell everyone because the fans already know.

Naomi Tanizaki - Vocals and Dancer

Grew up in downtown Tokyo.

Has wanted to be an idol all her life so she started doing dance lessons and participating in her school’s chorus ever since she was old enough.

She also started taking vocal lessons outside of school.

At age 10 she auditioned for ADA Entertainment using her ballet training and showcasing her synchronicity with the other girls as well as soft vocals, and skill on the flute.

She got picked to be a trainee.

She was originally going to be part of a girl group but she refused to leave Junichirou, and Fukuzawa is a softie, so she got to be part of The Detectives.

She is known for her extremely affectionate relationship with Junichirou, most fans ship them, despite Junichirou claiming that they aren’t in any sort of a relationship.

Junichirou Tanizaki - Vocals and Dancer (Visual #1)

Also grew up in downtown Tokyo and went to the same school as Naomi.

Is childhood friends with Naomi, even though he’s two years older.

He used to think of her as a younger sister.

Naomi has liked him since they met and he slowly began to fall for her as well.

Recognises that her attachment is unhealthy but can’t bring himself to say anything because he knows he feels an attachment as well. 

Because of this, and his desire to protect her from any and all actual, and potential dangers he followed her to the ADA.

He was originally just going to watch her audition and make sure nothing sketchy was going on and then she suggested that he audition too.

He said no

But she begged and he couldn't say no to her so he auditioned.

He has been singing in the school chorus since he was very young and can play piano so he got accepted.

He played football which also requires fitness and cooperation so he picked up dancing in formations easily. 

He only agreed to an off camera relationship with Naomi because he doesn’t necessarily like the idea of having their relationship broadcast to the public.

He thinks he’s hiding it, He isn’t. At least not very well.

He can’t help but be affectionate with Naomi and she never reminds him that they're supposed to be a secret.

He always blushed like an idiot whenever anyone brings up their relationship.

He’s a good liar but it’s just so obvious that it doesn't really help.

It’s hardly ever mentioned but he actually has perfect pitch, just like Dazai.

Miyazawa Kenji - Vocals

The flower maknae.

When he first came to the city he got lost and was found by Ranpo, Yosano and Atsushi, they adopted him into their friend group.

He was very curious about Dazai and eager to be friends with him. He looks up to him even though he, like everyone else, doesn't know much about him.

Was second last to join the group, and the one who pushed for Atsushi to be included.

Sends money back to his village and to charities

Had just discovered what a Canadian Tuxedo (denim shirt and denim jeans) was and wanted to wear one for their debut music video but Kunidia thankfully stopped him.

Thought the Tanizaki's relationship was an open thing and still doesn't get that it isn't so he just treats them like a couple even on camera. 

It doesn't matter because no one thinks that they aren't anyway.

Nakajima Atsushi - Vocals 

A white tiger hybrid with a similar story to Kyouka.

His parents died shortly after he was born and he was put into an orphanage, where he was abused and treated as a freak for his hybrid traits.

After he escaped the orphanage he realised he had no money and nowhere to go, he was debating whether or not to drown himself in the river when Dazai found him. 

He tried to rob Dazai but the older boy kicked his ass (read tail). But then Dazai helped him up and treated him to some (30) bowls of Chazuke.

Dazai convinced him to come to the city with him and let him stay in the ADA dorms.

Kunikda found out and imposed the condition that he could stay there on the company's dime if he agreed to audition and begin training.

He, of course, agreed.

Dazai became something of a mentor to him.

He didn’t believe he was good enough but that only motivated him to work harder.

He was the last to join The Detectives. 

He still had training to finish so even after the group was announced he wasn’t revealed until their first MV.

Has lots of Simps because he’s basically a cat boy.

He’s questioning whether or not he only likes girls or if he likes boys as well.

Was the last to know about the Tanizaki’s relationship, he legitimately believed that they were just really close friends.
