I'm fundraising to supply pet jackets to shelter animals in need in the Roanoke VA area this winter. All money received will go toward materials to make jackets for shelter animals (primarily dogs).
If you have fabric, old/worn clothes, or other material that you think could be used as material for the jackets that would be equally appreciated! If so, please send me a direct message.
The example jacket pictured is an extra small, worn one that I made from old shirts and scrap materials. This is not an exact example of the jackets that I will be making for the shelter animals. Also, the scrap fabric I used was not entirely ideal and caused some unevenness around the edges. This jacket was made for 1 of 2 puppies we took in that were found abandoned in a Walmart parking lot and were too malnourished to handle the cold, which is one of many scenarios where a shelter animal may need one of these jackets during the cold weather.
GoFundMe is the only location where I will be taking funds. The only social media accounts specifically for this project/brand are currently @happydaypetapparel on Instagram, Tumblr, and YouTube.
Here is the GoFundMe link if you would like to donate or see more info. Reblogs are deeply appreciated.
Little reminder to everyone that it soon will be Christmas ....
Do NOT gift anyone an animal as a pet!!! No dogs, no cats, no turtle, no any animal you can think of!!!!
If you already know you won't have the time to take care of them, they'll all end up in the shelter. This happens especially after Christmas!!! As they did right after COVID, when people suddenly realized that homeoffice wasn't a forever state and they couldn't take care if their pets anymore!
Do not gift animals! They are living beings, not presents you or your kids can enjoy for a night and then toss away.
Thank you. :)
(where I live, shelters have stopped handing animals to families around christmas for precisely that reason)
i’ve been posting dogs + other animals in need of rescuing/fostering on my instagram (sylveongender) story!! a lot of these animals are at risk of being euthanised!! please take a look if you are able to help out!! please share even if you can’t help cause it gets these animals seen to people who can either adopt or foster ❤️❤️❤️

The shelter I got my bunny from is having a fundraiser!
The way it works is people enter their pets to be chosen to be used in the yearly calendar they make and people give a donation in order to vote on the pets. I entered my rabbit since I got him from this shelter and wanted to show support for it. All funds raised by voting on him will be going straight to the shelter and supporting more animals like him. I'm very grateful to this shelter for bringing me my wonderful boy and would love if he could help raise some funds for them.
This is Logan! I adopted him from the Lollypop Farm Human Society in Rochester, NY a few months ago.
This facility does an amazing job caring for (and often rehabilitating) all sorts of animals, from mice to horses and everything in between.
This fall, Lollypop Farm is having their annual Walk for the Animals fundraiser. All proceeds go to helping support vital services and programs for homeless and abused pets, just like Logan.
When Logan was brought to Lollypop Farm, he had a fractured pelvis, injured penis, and a lot of surrounding soft tissue damage. It is believed he was hit by a car and left to suffer, alone and hurting. Once he got to Lollypop Farm however, he was rushed to their vet and received the care and attention he desperately needed. After weeks of kennel rest and lots of love and treats, he was put up for adoption and the rest is history. Today, you wouldn’t even know he had such a traumatic injury.
I owe Logan’s life and the companionship he gives me to Lollypop Farm and the amazing staff and volunteers that work tirelessly to help animals in need. To give back, I’m participating in the Walk for the Animals fundraiser this year on September 24th, and I could use your help!
I’ve set my own personal fundraising goal to $250
I’ll need help from both animal lovers and those who appreciate animals from afar to reach it. Every little bit counts! I don’t have much to offer in return, but I can share as many cute pictures of Logan as you want.
You can Donate Here to help animals in need
or please reblog and share this post and my donation page wherever you can if a donation isn’t possible right now.
i have often come across posts that have been made in the name...
of humour or 'cuteness" that absolutely do not reflect the truth behind the image.
The unforgetable sodden and muddy kitten in the rain snuggling up to someone's boot was not saved from his misery by a caring photographer.
The new born calf is not being taken for a ride in a wheelbarrow as a"treat" nor is he "sleeping".
It is because he is too weak and too young to walk on his own.
He is headed to a miserable and short life before he is killed for veal.
There is often an explanation that is beyond our immediate impression.
This is one of them. I found it on the site www.aroundpet.com under Humour.
The site is now up for sale.
I’m going to give this image the benefit of the doubt. It would be hypocritical to do otherwise.
It could be a friendly, furry cat reaching out his paw to a passerby from behind the wire fence at his family’s home.
Of it could be a cat at a shelter desperately reaching though the wire fence to his enclosure twisting his head in a desperate bid for freedom and a loving family.
SIGN: Demand Animal Abuse Registry Is Placed On 2024 Ballot
Under the proposed legislation, those who beat, abuse, and kill animals will be placed on the a public registry called Protect MI Pet, viewable by shelters, pet stores, and private sellers, as a means of screening potential animal adopters to prevent convicted offenders from being able to obtain another companion animal.
If this happens in Michigan we could have a chance of it happening in Iowa and eventually nationwide.
