i really don't understand the fandom hatred of delphine. i remember constantly seeing people say she was manipulative to chev and only used him to benefit herself, but she literally ?? didn't.

the only times she asked him for help were not for herself but for other people (and she only asked once or twice).

she didn't love chevalier the way he loved her, which is fine! but reverted to his old self and used that against her when she asked him for help.

i agree she shouldn't have called him a coward and made him feel guilty for not wanting to commit forgery due to the hefty price he would pay if caught, but that entire scene was chev saying no because he's pissed off she doesn't share the same feelings as he does. and at the same time, again, she didn't ask for help for herself but for other nobles!

delphine was a brave woman who stood her ground when it came to her religious beliefs and her rights. it's one of the reasons chev admired her so much, and it was he who offered to help multiple times out of his own accord.

delphine also helped chev to mature and change simply by existing. chevalier literally became a better person because of her and risked his life for herself and for other people which he never would have done in the past.

i think the criticism is hypocritical because the same people who call delphine manipulative, when she isn't, are the same who don't say a word when it comes to phillipe's toxic traits and are fine with shipping him with chev? so it really just seems like they don't like delphine simply because she isn't phillipe.

2. Show us your favourite fashion look you've created

This one was a bit tricky to choose bc I have 3 faves, but I think my top fave is gonna be of my Scourge (my remake of my 1st character and the one who also holds my OC's name, Mourynn) since I just really like how the colours turned out to make her look poisonous/toxic (and the karka backpiece was sort of meant to look like she's infested with gross worm things since I wanted her to look either rotting/awakened/parasitic Nightmare Courtier Duchess, and it was meant to become the boney-necrotic glider since they all kind of align in placement of each worm thing. At least that is the intention, anyways. I plan to get her full Mordy and Zhaitan weapons in the far future to match her aesthetic).

My runner ups will be my Renegade, Ferahla I had fun making her look gnarly and the new Kryptis wings were a perfect addition. I still wanna change her shoulders over to something else, but the warbeast ones will do for now. I also just super wanted a character that uses the cool looking big-branchy cultural heavy-armour headpiece bc it looks like branchy hair, but WAY cooler. It's also funny bc two of my fave looks incorporate the cultural armour (I just love how they blend in with the actual Sylvari body, so I am extremely biased. Also Renegade is one of my favourite specs as well, and was my favourite spec before I went Mirage. I still love it a ton tho, Kalla my beloved <3). Also this outfit makes her look lowkey nakey and I kinda love it tbh alksjflsdjfs.

My 3rd runner up is my Soulbeast, Faihan. She also happens to have one of my top favourite character names and I'm likely to reuse this for other OCs in the future bc I just love it for some reason (both how it sounds, and shortening it to "Fai"). Anyways, since I'll never get to play Bloodborne (unless it's released to PC, which will likely never happen, sobs), I wanted to make a character that kind of had that vibe, and although it was unintentional, she somehow became a bit fiery and toasty over time, so I just kinda rolled with it. Now she has a firebird theme going along with it as well. I also just really like the swaggering appearance looks~ she just feels so fancy (and I couldn't decide between capes, so she has one cape for her power set and one for her condi set)

Nana probably has one of my favorite personalities out of all my OCs because of how dynamic it is (I dunno if that's the right word) but like--she can go from stand offish and quiet to sarcastic to an absolute menace in the battle to a a flirt depending on the circumstance.

With new people and others she isn't close to, she is very quiet and typically stays to herself unless she needs someone for something important. Very rare to see her smile due to her often having a pokerface default expression.

With her close friends, the Fabled Five, she can get pretty smart (she is very smart but sarcastic). She can still be quiet but she def speaks more and allows herself to get a bit more expressive.

With Jack, she is her most expressive with big ear-ear-to-ear sharp toothed smiles. She can be a flirt and is pretty good at it since she likes finding ways to make him flustered because she finds him very cute when he is a blushing mess.

With opponents, she rarely speaks in battles and typically has one goal in her mind: maim or murder. She is merciless and typically, people that survive her in a fight don't try to pick another one. She's caused some nightmares to her enemies.

Overall, top fave character because she has such a range of expressing herself since she is very adaptive in nature.

HEY YOU Hit me with some Julie Su propoganda cuz I'm mostly lukewarm on her character and don't know all that much about her.

OK OK ... well baseline info she's the daughter of dark legion general luger, and half sister of lien-da and kragok, who are twins and both high ranking legion soldiers. when their mother (merin-da) died and luger remarried, ld and kragok hated his new wife (julie-su's mother) (mari-su) so bad they orchestrated her death, info which was they kept on the DL for a long time until js eventually found out about it. memory situation, js is raised by other folks who actually love her and doesn't learn who her blood family is until later. she joins knuckles because she feels inexplicably drawn to him (soul touch) (echidna soulmates) so she defects from the legion to join the chaotix. the soul touch thing sucks and i hate it but this is how it goes. ill talk about my au version of her at the end lol bc things ive built on top of canon are part of the reason why shes one of my fave charas in the series lul

ANYWHO i honestly find it pretty frustrating when people talk about js as just being pink knuckles, shoehorned into the story to give knuckles an obligatory girlfriend, because it really demonstrates that they like. weren't paying a lick of attention to anything because she genuinely has a LOT of personality but since people just go in anticipating anything penders touched to suck they don't even bother to think about her for longer than half a second.

js fills a niche that, imo, could always use filling, especially with regards to girl characters, which is to say shes a well meaning asshole. shes incredibly blunt, she's pessimistic (immediately assumes knuckles must be dead when enerjak returns and they cant find him, tells knuckles not to search a fallen ship that his mother was on because shes probably dead and she doesnt think he'd want to see that). shes terrible at handling interpersonal conflict (knuckles confesses to her that he feels guilty and stressed over all the pressure put on him as guardian and she scolds him and says "this isn't just about you", which results in a minor shouting match when she really had zero intention of starting an argument), she's almost constantly beefing with vector (tbf its because hes sexist he refuses to see past her history as a member of the dark legion). these might suond like cons but i love characters like this LOL and they fit especially well in archie where people love to get mad at each other and make dumb mistakes and it just feels very genuine and interesting and endearing to me. shes rough and difficult but she's also DEEPLY loyal. she'd die for knuckles and the chaotix and the way she interacts with them always makes me soooo ........ im just gonna give some examples i can find.

^ this was the genuine conclusion of an argument they had and im obsessed with it because both of them suck with emotions so they both give the worlds strangest apology and know that the other means it and they move on. plus putting her arm in front of SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG while theyre confronting eggman even after watching him CHAOS BLAST, primarily because she feels like this is more her fight than his (its about knuckles).

BUT ANYWAYS. shes just a very fun character with a messy personality and fun interactions and she loves her buddies sm even tho she bickers with them. shes just very special. she fits well with knuckles in a way that makes their relationship actually feel plausible instead of just forcing him to have a girlfriend (tho ofc the writing is fumbled sometimes like. and ill discuss my au briefly bc u r asking me my opinion on js and that does play a large role in how i feel abt her, but rly im just expanding on elements of her story that werent discussed as fully as i wouldve liked. her relationship with lien-da is obviously BAD in canon, but theres not a lot of time spent lingering on precisely how lien-da and kragok feel about julie-su as the product of their fathers second marriage to a woman they KILLED because they hated her so much. ive also given her much more internal strife over turning away from the legion, originally joining the chaotix planning to betray them from the inside then being slowly convinced to join them for real after realizing how much she'd been brainwashed by the legion and what its like to have people who truly love and care about you. her story as someone who is trying to find herself outside of her history as a child soldier is something that TOTALLY deserves to be expanded on and its a bit sad that it wasnt explored. but i mean really im not changing her actual PERSONALITY at all because as i discussed shes oozing with it.... im honestly never going to make the full comic i wanted to so at some point im just going to compile all the lore and concept art and stuff into one big post to share. but thats like a spoiler free taste.

she also has a gun. which is fucking awesome because not enough sonic characters have guns. people make shadow the guy with a gun but he hasnt been seen with one since shth. hello....

I def think Chil is a pest, he’s horny and he wants sex and is flagrant about it, but also we know that he stayed faithful for 4 years without getting any, I feel like realistically the relationship sex wise would 100% be on Marcille’s pace. And this is the fun part, bc would Marcille be very eager? Would she want to do the romance book correct™️ route and that means no tapping until marriage, or he needs to court her all princely first? For the older meta/discussions, @convenientalias and her ‘my country the new age’ tag (starts at page 20) is a good place to start. I remember this Seon-ho meta and also love reading everyone's responses to this mctna list of questions she created. There’s @dangermousie and their ‘my country’ tag (starts at page 11), @hedvig-ulrika has a lot of good meta posts as well, right now I can only think of this one (marketplace scene) and this one (Seonhwi scene towards the end), and this one for Seon-ho & Sung-rok. For Seonrok stuff in general, platonic or otherwise, the ‘seonrok’ tag by @pashminabitch is a treasure trove, @sadviper has great thoughts about them too (and I enjoyed reading their top 5 mctna scenes), @valarinde has meta about this very heart-wrenching scene, and @eohachu has written compelling meta about them too; their ‘seonrok’ and ‘nn meta’ tags are def worth checking out. @strandedchesspiece has an amazing series of mctna meta posts. I really love @the2headedcalf ’s Seonhwi meta (1, 2). @ciriwrites has written this excellent meta that led to an interesting discussion and other meta, @staidwaters has this headcanon about how Seonhwi became best friends, and @rain-hat has a lot of intelligent and eloquent meta in her ‘my country the new age’ tag and got a lot of mctna asks a while ago. You can also read @crayonflop 's very entertaining commentary in their ‘my country’ tag (starts at page 28), then there’s @husberttee with an interesting discussion about Sung-rok and his scar. This funny text post about Sung-rok + Seonhwi by @petekaos always makes me smile. This one is good too - all the Seon-ho feels! @bienmoreau has meta posts like this one about Seon-ho and his brother and @tlanwen has good meta and web weavings too. And @elderflowergin 's description of Bang-won's voice is perfect. There are others like @crithir, @eremin0109, @asena-queenslayer, @monstersqueen, @mctna, @doorhine with a scene comparison here and dozens of others who I remember writing mctna meta, in the tags or otherwise! This anon ask sent to fatallist (who has sadly deactivated) about the water/river symbolism is interesting too.

A small caveat: I’m very clearly biased towards Seon-ho who's my fave, and there are some Hwi-resenting meta posts/tags you may encounter on my or other people’s blogs. I started out being quite critical of him, but after many good discussions with some of my friends I’ve come to understand his side of things more. As such, I'm trying to avoid being too harsh on him and am determined to love the boys more equally now!

There are a few critical takes on Seon-ho or Bang-won or Hui-jae too, but I think it’s a sign of what amazing, complex characters they are that they elicit such strong emotions in us and we feel compelled to take sides!

1. Which part of the series was your introduction to HTTYD? How old were you when you first became a fan?

i rmr it pretty well. i was abt 11 years old & my mom found the first movie on comcast on demand & wanted to find a movie for us we (my siblings & i) hadn't seen so she chose it. i rmr the year prior with all the commercials on tv & stuff & was like hey!! i rmr wanting to see this! cool!! and i rlly liked the movie!!!!! my full obsession, however, didn't start until abt a year later when she brought home this pack of the first 6 books (that's all that was available at the time!) & reading through them i rewatched the movie & we had it on dvd by that point and that was it. the rest is history

5. What type of dragon do you think best matches your personality?

oh gosh. the impulse to say my fave but whispering deaths don't rlly "match" me personality wise. tbh a gronckle, me thinks. with a personality like meatlug or shattermaster. :') they're such goofy goobers but they're also rlly sweet & i am so soft for that LOL. they remind me of the dog i grew up with with how snorty they are & the way they wag their tails :'))

6. What are your favourite ships in the fandom and why?

IDK their chemistry is just??? i love how they constantly bicker & snotlout is just a piece of shit & it causes astrid to retaliate & treat him like that even when he's not actively being a piece of shit which pisses him off & yet they always somehow end up by each other or saving each other much to astrid's chagrin half the time & then snotlout's confusion UGH ESP SNOTLOUT'S ANGELS the nose flick & then astrid admitting she doesn't hate him & his FACE HIS FUCKING FACE he's so got a genuine crush on her but doesn't know how to Behave & i love them getting together & then breaking up & for astrid it's smth she looks back on fondly but never wants to go back to while snotlout is stuck adding her to his list of ppl being the one that got away & yearning..... they're also so funny together & i feel like if they're ever on the same page they're so powerful & it's scary LOL

fishlout used to be my fave & i still love it. rtte spent more time building their relationship to each other than either of them with ruffnut & we all saw the potential of what could have been :') it can easily fall into the jock x nerd thing but it's more than that to me bc while fishlegs is anxious he doesn't take snotlout's shit lying on his back (esp after gem of a different color) & by rtte fishlegs is rolling his eyes & quipping back & it's just forever this contest of who comes out on top & then u have thw whole thor bonecrusher thing & it can so easily be an exploration in snotlout's bisexuality (and fishlegs'!) esp after return of thor bonecrusher when snotlout is just SO happy fishlegs is back to the point where he gives him a hug (and was like :D woah when fishlegs bodied a dude to protect him) & they def had a brief stint after that. they don't talk abt it. it's only between them... snotlout yearns so badly...

i'm realizing my fave ship is anything that'll make snotlout yearn & wish he could have someone as all of his friends find their ppl or are comfortable with themselves enough to not need a romantic partner LMAO

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Okay, this is a movie I definitely remember seeing in theaters and I remember it definitely inspired a lot of my interests and characters afterwards. If you haven't seen it, I'd def recommend it.

2. Star Trek: Into Darkness

Honestly, this movie is great and I like the first one but this one!! This one!! Goddamn, all the quotes I could pull off the top of my head!!! A good watch. You don't need to watch the first one, but it does have some context for the second one.

3. Stalag 17

Okay, this is a movie my dad showed me and it's really good. It's from 1957 and it's from the same guy who made Some Like It Hot. I could write essays about the way Billy Wilder seems to play with traditional masculinity in film.

4. Everything Everywhere All at Once

Ohhh this filmmmm. I can't watch it without crying physical tears it's so good. Michelle Yeoh acts the fuck out of Evelyn she's so good. This movie is so good and the score!!! The score!!! So good.

5. Scream

This movie is so good. I am such an advocate for the way its not a super traditional scary movie and that the way it almost seems to make fun of itself while still making it scary are so !! It's so campy, I love it

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you? not really in asoiaf but i understand why it would because i've def side-eyed some fellow shippers for some ships i'm into..... i won't name shipnames (JxB isn't the one i'm thinking of though) but I've def come close to being scared off by fandom drama despite liking ship dynamics.

I feel like there has been at least 1 ship ruined by fandom drama but I legitimately can't even think of the fandom let alone the ship.

the blessing is I am a huge multi-shipper and interested in lots of different fandom and character facets so i don't get as buried in the shipping drama (and i keep my circles very very small). that's my rec to avoid fandom drama............

23. Unpopular character you love?

i feel like in asoiaf every character is unpopular depending on what crowd you ask haha.

But Catelyn ALWAYS gets so much unwarranted hate across most groups of people and she's a top tier fave (top 10 character for me personally)

What bothers me with DeanLisa is that Sam pushes Dean toward Lisa because of something Dean fantasizes about... 40 years earlier. Before the Apocalypse, before knowing angels and God exist, before being tortured 30 years in Hell (and spending 10 years torturing)... Sam, being oblivious, doesn't take any of that into account. Dean has changed too much since he dreamt about this for their relationship to work (I think DeanLisa could have worked if they were both in the same mindstate than s3 but)

yea there are a lot of reasons why deanlisa was never going to really work out in that context. i think if circumstances had been different then maybe. but i just have a lot of issues with deanlisa, they're not my fave and i can't get over how plot device-y they are, but that's an issue with the writing and i don't actually hate lisa as a character or anything. i know a lot of multishippers like deanlisa so i don't wanna step on any toes and i think in fanon, giving them more depth than the narrative ever did helps make them more interesting and complex. but when i'm like putting my analytical hat on and looking at what the text actually does and critiquing what they actually gave us versus what they didn't give us or what they could've done it's well :/ like narratively she, and ben, are presented as this ready made family fantasy and that's about it. that's their sole "function" and lisa never gets much depth or complexity to her character and it's just very :/

i think dean has a huge heart, and i while i def question him showing up out of the blue to move in with a woman he knew collectively maybe 2 weeks out of his life, i do think dean IS the kind of person who "falls in love" a little bit with everyone he meets that treats him with genuine kindness and affection. and i think there are different degrees and shades and intensities to that "love" and it's not always the kind of One True Love definition of love. like he also only spends about 2 - 3 weeks with cassie but says she was his first love. and that love is important and meaningful but also very different from say, his love for cas which gets 12 years to grow. but neither is "better" than the other, they're just different! so like, i think he definitely cared for lisa and loved her in some way, and maybe if, like you said, circumstance had been different, they could have worked out and maybe grown to really love each other deeply. but in the circumstances they were in it always felt a little doomed. (here's a really good post about this).

as much as we can debate whether dean really loved her or not, i think dean would probs Never have sought her out if sam hadn't pushed him toward her w/ is "dying wish" of dean being a happy little suburban man. i don't think dean was thinking abt her all those yrs or holding a torch for her. and dean might've wanted that fantasy family life at one point but yea for dean those dreams were a long time ago. i think by the end of s5 dean doesn't really think that life is in the cards for him anymore.

my reading of the situation is: dean is numb with grief. dean has lost nearly everyone (bobby's still around but that's about it, and they don't seem to be in contact). dean is trying to honor his brother's "dying" wish. except sam isn't actually dead! (i forget who brought this up but i saw it recently and!!!!) sam literally isn't dead when he goes into the cage !!! he's spending eternity being tortured by the devil as far as dean knows. i think that would cause dean a great amount of stress / worry / anguish on top of his grief. i don't think dean would be able to just move on and play happy family forever. so, he's numb, depressed, going through the motions, and holding on to this one (1) thing he now has, this perfect little family. and it's what he should want !! it's what he used to dream about !! but so much has changed. and he cares about lisa, he does. she's great and she's trying to help him. and ben is a great kid and dean loves him too. but it was never going to work, not really, because dean's issues are SO huge and all encompassing at that point AND this life wasn't really his choice. it's not what he would have chosen if sam hadn't nudged him in that direction. he's there, and he's trying, but it's not enough. he's got unresolved hell trauma, unresolved grief, probably constantly thinking abt sam being tortured in hell by the devil after dean very recently spent 40 yrs !! in that place. he's also lost cas, his best friend, who in dean's eyes abandoned him for heaven. based on past and future behavior he's probably also feeling like he doesn't deserve to be alive, possibly is passively suicidal. he's got a lot going on, and of course you don't have to be perfect or have your shit together to be in a relationship, but i don't think dean was in the right place to be in a relationship or to be playing the role of suburban dad and husband. and i think that's kind of the point, i think the narrative wants us to see that friction and see the cracks in the fantasy.

Back in the day Zuko and Katara were my absolute fave characters and zutara was OP. Then the show ended and I forgot about it.

It got brought back to Netflix recently and I’ve put off watching it cause tbh it was never my favorite cartoon (TT and DP)

I no longer ship zutara, but at the same time I only marginally like kataang more?

Like it’s 45 percent zutara to 55 percent kataang.

Idk I don’t like any of the popular canon/fanon ships much.

Now onto characters.

I like Aang a bit more now, but idk how much is me actually liking him or just feeling sorry for the shit has character has been through and wanting him to be happy. If that makes sense

Karata is still my fave and I’m sorry I ever doubted her (went through a im not like other girls phase and it wasn’t cool to like her 😭)

Zuko is literally the def of a failwolf (teen wolf moots?) it’s so funny, like he kind of cracks me up because of how unhinged and chaotic this man is. Very determined.

He’s also not my favorite anymore? Idk why. meh on Sokka too. (Don’t fight me but they’re both so overhyped 🫣)

Add Azula to that list. Love her down bad tho.

Also idc what anyone says Appa’s Lost Days were sadder than Irohs dead son scene. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤧

He’s also overrated. But I get why he’s awesome and why people love him, but swear people talk about him, Zuko, Sokka, Azula and a little bit of Toph like they’re the most amazing characters to ever walk the fictional earth. So yeah overrated as hell but still cool.

Appreciate characters like Suki a lot more now she’s a fucking bad ass (little Mary sue but hey she gotta keep up somehow)

Don’t tolerate Toph as much now. I’m very over the cocky/snarky/belligerent/caustic, type characters (will make a post about that soon) but she’s cool.
