This ship's cannon, just 50 centimetres long, dates from the early 14th century, as the dating of the cartouche remains revealed, and was discovered in 2001 on the seabed off the coast of western Sweden near the island of Marstrand. This makes it the oldest ship's gun in Europe to date.
