Because I don’t hate the movie, it gives me “greater insight” to see… the actual plot of the movie?? What kind of logic is that?? Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s dogshit? Like yeah it isn’t without criticism, but really now.

“Everyone was content [until she learns *her* family’s wishes won’t be granted]” like. Hello? What part of her saying “you make them forget” did not land??? Of course they were content when they were brainwashed and fed lies (the repeated “give without regret” line is actually sinister!). And while yes it started with her grandpa, she was horrified when she realizes, and the king confirms, that most of the kingdom’s wis/hes will just be kept there, while the people — who have been *changed* because they gave up the best part of them without truly realizing what that meant — continue living in a bubble of the king’s own making

Like I really do feel like people didn’t actually watch the movie or, if they did, did so with one eye open just so they can continue being angry at it for whatever reason

I mean this absolutely respectfully, but you should probably find a different duo name for Mei and MK than goldendragon--goldendragon is their ship name, so by tagging it as goldendragon, you're putting platonic content into the tags for people who are looking for romantic content of the two of them! It'd be like tagging a post about Wukong and Macaque being friends or brothers as shadowpeach--it clogs the tags and makes searching for content difficult. And again I mean this entirely respectfully, I'm not sure if they have a duo name though or what else to call them!

hi! so i figured i should explain myself a bit more in terms of using that tag lol.

i use the goldendragon tag despite me not shipping them because it's completely up to the viewer which context they decide to put the art in. i don't make the art with romantic intentions, but i don't mind people taking my goldendragon art as romantic. i just like their dynamic either way.

plus, goldendragon is the more well known tag of their duo and i want to reach the people that want to see more of them, i guess?

so i use goldendragon as the umbrella term for mk and mei. personally i don't ship them, but you are more than welcome to read my art of them as romantic.

i wouldn't call my art of them "platonic" art? it's just art of them.

tl;dr: i'm still gonna be using the tag because my art isn't strictly platonic. you can see it as romantic if you'd like. plenty of people do.

Knives kills the spider to save the butterfly but Vash gets angry because he wanted to save both of them somehow and Rem is the one to point out how logically the butterfly has to die in order for the spider to survive because of the circle of life scenario.—designed by god, by fate, by evolution. But Knives still views himself and Vash and the other Plants as the butterflies and humanity as the spiders so he causes the fall in attempt to eliminate humanity’s perceived threat to them. Vash, arguably, views Knives as a threat (spider) to humanity (and himself) who he trapped on Noman’s land (in a web), but to some extend humanity does fufill the roll of the spider because they need to use (“consume”) Plants for their own survival. But Knives also fulfills that role of a predator by the end of things after all his destructive efforts.

And then we see Knives encounter a human, Legato, with the honest to god ability to kill him with ease but Legato chooses not. Despite being given the option. Despite it being in Legato’s best interest to do so because the expected consequence of not killing Knives is that he will kill him. And Legato in that moment exists simultaneously as both the butterfly (trapped, “consumed” by others) and the spider (human, “threads” able to kill/control others). It’s in letting him live and become his servant that Knives solidifies Legato’s schrodinger’s existence by consciously turning him into the spider.

But Vash has his own ambiguous not-spider, not-butterfly in Wolfwood—and Wolfwood as well in Livio/Razlo. Also used as the butterfly (indoctrination by EoM, abilities “consumed” by others) but exists presently as the spider (violent, kills). Vash tries so hard to keep Wolfwood safe (fed, domesticated, a jar with holes in the lid for a pet spider to live in) with his optimism. He could still save everyone without killing if he just loves the world hard enough. But that’s not how things work and Wolfwood still dies—but he does so because it’s what needs to happen. For Livio/Razlo to live. For Vash to live. Circle of life scenario. God, fate, evolution.

And it’s VASH who ultimately has to choose to kill Legato to save his friends. He chooses to kill the spider to save the butterfly. And it’s KNIVES who allows himself to die and willingly becomes something humanity can consume (the apple tree). He chooses to allow himself to be the butterfly consumed by the spider to live. ARE YOU LISTENING?? ARE YOU SEEING THE METAPHORS AND MOTIFS?? EVERYONE IS THE SPIDER AND BUTTERFLY! NO ONE IS THE SPIDER AND BUTTERFLY! AM I MAKING SENSE?? DO YOU SEE IT

idk if bakura would be into art displays much but i cant stop thinking about him eventually turning the letters he wrote for his mother and sister and later his father into a piece of art, like a piece about how grief is love persisting and all that but with sensitive and magical details blacked out maybe

i also like the thought of there being a little corner in the piece with letters dedicated to the thief king and atem, both mourning the short time he had with them and the fact that he didn't get a chance to know them in the ways he wanted to

maybe some of his other friends get the ones for atem but wouldn't understand there being letters for tkb, but yugi would get it and stand with bakura to read those letters in particular together and share in their grief over who they've loved and lost
